Sometimes sleep inducing, but knows what he's doing
not an entertainer. Knows his stuff.

talk bout fallin in class...thats what this class is all bout if hes teachin it....BORIN
Good guy but def not the easiest. He teaches PHYSICS as it exists in the real. Not the watered down stuff the other profs give out. Take him if ur truely interested in the subject.
He definately knows what he's talking about, but does the rest of the class? Don't forget to bring your pillows. LOL
Knows his stuff, but can't teach. He is good at manipulating formulas and applying them to problems that he makes up. Forgat most of the material after one month.
Very Stinky teacher. he spends most of the time deriving formulas. does not explain concepts at all. tests are difficult. if you take this course, you learn from the TA and book. i learned nothing from the teacher, but still managed to get an A.
He's a nice guy and he knows what he's talking about, but isn't very good at explaining physics.
Knows what he's talking about, but doesn't explain it well to the class at all. Difficult to do well in if you don't have a good background in physics coming in.
Not good, not good at all. I don't show up anymore, it is pointless to go to class. Good luck teaching yourself from the book.
Very good professor. If you pay attention - you'll get it. I had some physics background but from a very long time ago, but still managed to recall it all with his help.

He is very horrible professor, I went few begining days to attend his lecture.. saw! does not help at all.. went to recitations.. and that helped me.. alot.. do not buy book for this class if you are takin in summer..cuz all important work is taught by TA
Rollino looks like a straight up mob boss lecturing you with one hand on his hip. I never went to class EVER! James the TA taught me and I studied the sample tests. I managed to pull off a B. Such a shame when the TA teaches better than the professor. My tuition dollars went to waste.
teaches for 5 minutes and then goes off on a tangent for the whole class. do his practice exams, do all the homework and get all the help required from the TA during recitation. Lectures are a waste of time. exams like practice exams. although understanding of material is required. recitation helps!
Nice man but horrible teacher. Knows his material but cant teach it.
easiest class..he gives practically gives u the test and answers..then allows u to bring in a study sheet!!! Saw his semester grades a 45 was a C...if u get less then a B u might be retarded, BTW he's a genius he'll do like the square root of 123.3455 in his head, plus the stories are always fun....
he knows what he's teaching and he is extremely intelligent. only problem is that he can't explain it very well. i stopped going to his lectures after the first exam and i was still able to pull off an A thanks to James, the TA's, help. its better to go to recitation then to go to lecture.
He is a genius, but lectures are boring.I took a nap in every class, class time was nap time for me.I would say to go to James for help, cause the TA for this class Donald sucks. He is very nice when it comes to grades big curve. He tells stories in class and shows formulas, which dont help in exams
def knows physics well. answers questions.gives easy examples to explain the material.not an easy prof for those who doesn't know physics at all.all problems on the exam are very similar to what he does on the board,so u'd better go to the lectures
He will tell you a LOT of things about Physics and about everything else you are doing in ALL of you other classes..really knows his stuff..exams are similar to practice and do not miss recitation if you want a good grade
This class was hard as hell! I don't know why so many people felt that it was easy. Rollino's exam problems are not the types of problems in the text book. I guess the only way to do well is to go to recitation. Unfortunately, I didn't. Overall, very tough course!
boring as hell. can't really teach. exams are nothing like notes. good luck.
Sat in on all lectures and didn't get a thing Rollino said. Only reason I received an A in the course and learned physics was James the recitation TA. Didn't know what relative velocity was 'til he explained. Didn't understand how friction worked 'til he explained. No idea what a lever arm was 'til he showed me. Go to recitation. James is the best
Dr Rollino is a very intelligent, considerate man & knows Physics like the back of his hand. Physics is tough-you can't expect to pass the class by looking over his notes. You MUST do the practice problems. While his exams are challenging, he is a generous grader & does drop the lowest grade. If all else fails, go to James for help.
very disorganized in teaching the material, very poor teaching techniques, talk too much about things although most are related to what he is talking about but the students absolutely dont need to know to get a good grade. his exams are not that difficult but u need to attend recitation(extremely important)to get good grade.not difficult to get an A
difficult material (especially since i hated physics in high school) but this man is a genius. he knows his stuff + is willing to take time to help you understand as well. exams were hard + i worked my ass off for a B but it's all good.
He is a very smart man. The class was difficult but if you study the practice exams he gives out, you should be alright.
He is fair but you have to study. Some of the exams are somewhat based on the practice exams. So really study them and you pass the course. But know the basics and you will do well.
No doubt,he is a smart man.He just can't teach. He really is not helpful at all.If you ask him a question he just gives you more of the same stuff you did not understand in lecture.Physics recitation is probably the most helpful, worthwhile class in the whole university. The only reason most of us understood the practice exams is James
Hands down, the best professor I've ever had. His exam questions are easy, and the hardest ones are no harder than the hardest in chapter example problems. If you understand the examples, you should do well. Focusing on that got me an A. Although his lectures don't help much in learning, they are very intresting, sometimes funny, and enjoyable.
In my opinon he is an excellent professor. Tries to keep the class interesting with examples relative to our lives. He knows his stuff and is one of the smartest profs I've met on this campus. His exams were easy if you at least work on the practice problems. Highly recommend him. Take University Physics than General and you'll learn a lot more
Dr. Rollino is at best a marginal professor. I have taken both Gen and Univ. I earned an A in both only because I attended the General Phy recitations even when I took Univ Phy. You get the same material in both, but by far you learn and understand more physics in General because of TA's ability to teach what should have been taught in lecture.
He is just another example of the horrible teachers here at Rutgers. Like the ratings before me said, "He doesn't teach." Yea he talks about Physics, but about 5 percent is actually relevent to what he tests on. Complete waste of time, especially in the summer session.
this guy is full of stories, but he lacks teaching expertise.
James Reilly should be the professor, not him.
It was the worst decision I ever made, taking him over the summer. He is not helpful. He is possibly the worst lecturer on campus. Recitations are a must, although James can't do everything, and you will do terribly if you don't have a good math background. Am a straight A student in all science classes, and I got a C+ here. Be careful.
ONe of the worst prof at R-Newark!!! I had him for uni 1 and 2 .Even though he is smart and knows his stuff amazingingly.. he can't teach. hes quizzes r ok but his tests r hard u gotta do all the prob in the books just to get above 85... btw 85 is an A in his class with the curve.. if i could i wouldn't take him ever..
he's an amazing professor, a really approachable and all around nice guy, but the course material is challenging and he moves along quickly. his random stories in class are always fun and interesting to listen to :)
He's a great guy but as the people before me have said, he can't teach. if you don't plan on majoring in anything related to physics, take bio or chem! About 90% of the class got a C+ or below. If you want an A, prepare to spend countless nights poring over the material.
u don't use the book, problems are from his head (Scary place), contradicts the book and states hes right when you ask questions about the methods used in the book, James the TA SAVES YOU! Take him if you have a bet with ur friendsor something but for academic reasons...avoid this guy
The worst prof. teaching phy in rutgers.Even though he is smart and knows his stuff.he doesn't care if ppl get wht he is saying.his quizzes r ok but tests r nothing like prac tests except the first one,hes not too helpful.he has teacher's sol manual in the lib so doesn't want students to come up to him and ask questions.90% got C+.so think b4 takin
The most knowledgeable person who can not teach. he doesn't really help students.his exams are not mostly like prac exams. his quizzes are doable. be prepared to do all work on ur own and still get 70-80 on the test. bad prof. AVOID.
The book problems are easy, his test questions are impossible-or at least the ones beyond the first page. He moves way to quickly and is completely unclear. Thank G-d for the TA James, who can teach, and the curve! At least he's not completely horrible!
Professor Rollino's very talented at physics. But he cannot transform his students to become as good at physics as he is. He teaches physics as if you have already taken the class before. So it's a semester of review class with very little explanation of the concepts. It always starts with proof and then problemn-solving without understanding.
Absolutely horrible. Listen to all the other reviews and DO NOT take this prof. I was a visiting student and didn't know any better. I will be taking Physics II at another university. If you must take this prof, skip class and just go to the sessions with James the TA. That's how I got by. Expect to study a lot. Most of the class gets a C+.
One word- Galileo. Be prepared to learn more about him than any physics. He goes off on random tangents (mostly about Galileo) and I really didn't learn anything in the class. Had to teach myself everything, really.
Okay, so he's hard. But he prepares you best for the MCAT and James the TA is your saving grace. Schaum's Physics review book was my TB and i did fine. didnt even get the TB and got an A. if you do everything you can to excel, then you'll do fine. his test 1 is exactly like the prac test.
summer course...an ok professor at best...i feel that he does not care about his students...does not tell the averages on all tests...refuses to post answer keys...the tests are difficult even with hours of studying, but they are doable...if you don't plan on working hard, this is NOT the class for you. Not even close to being an easy summer class.
if it wasn't for past exams and James..no one would pass...his lectures are useless and the book is useless. Again, without James and past exams, you would never know what to expect with this man...lectures give no direction whatsoever to exam questions. He's still better than Spruch ever will be..plus hes a genius, i wish i could steal his brain=/
Dr Rollino is a brilliant physicist who know his stuff like the back of his hand. But, he cant teach it to you... He is expects you to read the chapter before he discusses it in class, and can i suggest, YOU MUST READ IT!!!! His exam 1 is exactly like the pract exam but after that they are not... Advice: Go to JAMES!!!! GOODLUCK..
Funny guy. Witty too. And really knows his stuff. That being said, he cannot teach to save his life. Try using the book, but even then, it doesn't really help out. Go to TA James for help. He's the reason why I passed his class. And there is no other way around Rollino for physics, so enjoy.

Yeah he was tough, probably the hardest class ive taken to this day. i never bought the book, it didnt help me. Just make sure you get together with classmates so you can get good grades on the quizzes and stuff. The first exam is similar to the sample but the rest are not. Even if you get like a 45 on every test, your still eligible for a C.
hes a really nice guy. he'll help you if u ask for it. but if he thinks ur hopeless and dumb...he wont care. his tests are by far the most difficult tests ive ever taken in college. im taking him again for physics too but this time ill study more and will get an A (hopefully). i def. learned more in his class than any other. james is also great!
His exams are difficult, class very boring and if he thinks you are dumb, he will get aggravated. Go to James the TA he will save you life and study of practice exams from past years, ONLY then you will be fine.
took him for university physics 1 and 2.... in his class 85% is an A, 75 is a B, 50 is a C. MOST of the class get a C. So do what u can. he is the only professor so you guys are stuck... however i do recommend taking physics at NJIT, its much harder there but atleast u will learn and UNDERSTAND more advanced physics.GOOD LUCK!!!!
Took him for University Physics 1 & 2 over the summer. For all of you complaining about the difficulty of this class....It is Physics :)
Rollino isn't bad. His lectures are basically him giving equations. Take the lab class even if you don't need it. James the Ta is the man. He will get you an A in the class.
I thought he was a nice, and knowledgeable man, but a horrible professor. He spends a vast majority of class time talking about the history of concepts which is irrelevant given the nature of this course, when he should be going over problems. I did well b/c of labs, James Reilly the awesome TA& his curve but didn't learn/remember anything!
The best professor ever! Funny during class and relates the things we learn in class to everyday items. Exams are very easy, just not use the book, use his notes. he gives you what you need to learn to do well in class. overall, very enjoyable lectures, makes time pass by faster than any tv show.
Dr. Rollino is probably the best professor i have had. he's very approachable, not at first, but you gotta understand him. people dont go to his class but they miss out, he does give out formulas that you use on his exams. i never opened the book all semester for university physics. i got an A. there is one special formula though. study what he doe
Dr. Rollino is the best Physics professor in RU and also his class is easy to get a good grade, if you do all the homeworks.
Dr. Rollino is a great professor. Very helpful if you ask for explanation. notes are very helpful and recitaions provide a lot of clarification. quizzes in recitations and the exams have a lot of partial credit and are straight forward. almost need to try to get a bad grade.
Dr. Rollino is the man. not an easy A, but the class is hard only if you make it hard. He teaches with the expectation that you hold up your end and read the chapters and do the hw (which he gives the answers to btw). very fair and understanding. for everyone complaing its college, you shouldn't expect a good grade without putting in some work.
The best professor for physics, wouldn't recomenned any one else. Just make sure you do the homework he assigns to you and understand the problem.
Probably not the greatest teacher on the planet, but he gives a lot of partial credit on quizes and exams. It's not too difficult to achieve a good grade. I would love have him by my side on cash cab. this guy is a human encyclopedia
I am taking him for University 1&2 over the summer. The trick to doing well in this class is studying the lecture notes he gives you and all of the random formulas he derives. I didn't use the book too much and i went to james for clarification. when in doubt, james it out.
This class is HARD. With that in mind, rollino is a genius but he teaches on the level his brain is on so his class is not for the weak-willed. He's hard to understand at times but overall I've had much worse professors. If you want an easy A, this class isn't for you. If you need the class, STUDY, STUDY, STUDY. Do all the book problems he gives.
Phenomenal Professor. Gives partial credit. Go for extra help if needed. Honestly could have not had a better professor. Very good foundation in many subjects. Best Professor. He's from CAMBRIDGE!
He's a super smart professor, bolstered by the fact that he went to MIT. He mumbles sometimes, and gives real world knowledge. But on the bright side only unmotivated people fail the class. Most people got C's but I got an A with some effort. If you are not lazy, you can get a B/A. Good Luck!
Interesting professor. Knows physics like the back of his hand. Go to class, he gives explanations to the formulas. about half of the quizzes are easy. Exam 1 is easy. Exam 2 was hard. Finally, the final was half easy then the rest was extremely random questions. But overall his partial credit is nice.
Getting an A in the class isn't impossible but unlikely. Be ready to do a lot of homework and practice problems. Attend all of James' session he will do many different types of problems and if you understand the analysis for them all you should do fine. Dr. R derives the equations in class and shows the general application of each.
Getting an A is very difficult, attend every class and try to understand the concept of the subject and the formula he derives. Attend James sessions because he does explain the material better and easier than Rollino. DO NOT DEPEND ON THE SECOND EXAM PRACTICE TEST! The second exam is very hard, and nothing like the practice exam he gives out.
Though it's hard, Dr. Rollino is very helpful and actually considers his students. 55 is a C. He listens to his students and is willing to give back a few more points on exams if you deserve it. What helps is the TA, James. He is very helpful and grades fairly. Rollino also adjusts at the end for students who are borderline.
Professor Rollino is a phenomenal instructor and you will definitely leave the class understanding physics at a fundamental level. His lectures were very informative and interesting, to boot. That said, be prepared to put in college-level work for this class. Physics is learned by doing problems. If you don't try, don't expect a good grade.
No lie, his exams are tough. You must understand the concepts and not just memorize formulas. Doing that will get you an A, but memorizing will get you a B at the very best. There were a few hundreds on the each of the exams so it is definitely doable to get an A. Understand the concepts, they are really quite simple! Rollino is a genius too
He's a veteran at rutgers. He's an older man so he can be a bit grumpy but he really knows his stuff. He likes to give real world examples which I found very interesting and helpful. A 50 average is a C which is a joke; way too easy to pass. His exams are difficult but you get what you put in. Generous with partial credit as well. Go to James too!
Extremely tough professor and has unclear lectures. Avoid.
To the person below me, that is not true. Dr. Rollino is a genius and a huge asset to the Physics department. He provides practice exams that are just about the same as the one he gives out. He clarifies whenever you have a question. He's an old guy, so yeah he will get grumpy. You will learn Physics at a fundamental level with this professor.
Very fair professor. Yea, his lectures are long and kinda useless but his exams are pretty fair. Identical to the practice ones and if you ask for help, he gives you hints. Put college-level work in class and you'll get the grade. Very generous on the partial credit as well!
Physics is hard enough as it is. Physics with Rollino is near impossible. He is a very nice guy, not a good lecturer though. James will save your life. Go to him.
Dr. Rollino is not impossible. If you have questions he'll answer them and is available to explain during office hrs. Physics is a tough course a lot of time needs to put in just as if it was a regular math class. Practice is key. Pretty straight forward on how you will be graded and whats on the exam. Its really impossible to fail
Rollino is a nice guy, just has tough tests. Gets off topic in class, very boring.
Rollino is the sweetest man! He seems scary at first but he will stay and answer any question you have! he also gives so much partial credit on exams its almost impossible to fail. His material may be hard but he's just prepping you for what's on the MCAT.
I felt at points throughout the semester that there was a lot of information that students are expected to know. However, I have a miserable background in mathematics and as a result I found myself struggling. If you work to understand the material, you will do fine.
Tbh, going to his lectures are useless. He takes a whole period or two to explain a concept, while James will explain it in like 10 minutes. Although, he is a very nice and understanding professor. Tests are similar to previous ones so study those and do practice problems and you'll be fine. Gives a lot of partial credit and curves at the end.
Literally never went to a single lecture in two semesters of physics. You DO NOT need to go to his lectures. He tells you you do, but I promise you you do not. Go to JAMES review sessions and put in the work ( you don't need to get good grades on the quizzes just let him know you are trying)
Some lectures tend to drag on a bit, but overall had a great experience in his class. Recitation lectures are key for this class.
Dr. Rollino was a legend! He was hands down one of the most brilliant people I came across in my life. Dr. Rollino always used interesting examples to help us understand the material. His exams were fairly difficult but he always provided practice exams and the quizzes helped, too. May he rest in peace. Rutgers-Newark isn't the same without him.
Used real life examples in hopes to get material across to students. Intelligent. Passionate about Physics. So underappreciated. Gone too soon and suddenly. May he rest in peace.
