Not a teacher...just a powerpoint reader.
Terrible with students, especially women students.
hard to learn when it is only powerpoint
well if you find offensive crude humor amusing then you would love him. he needs to grow up and learn how to teach other then using powerpoint slides. quizzes are a breeze and his tests semi easy. he is just a horrible person and teacher not a hard grader
I thought he was hilarious(really **** and childish), most of the time I only got up to go to class to see what he would say next(made class fun). All the class is on PowerPoint(study when you want.) Most of the time I would just pull an all-nighter and do good or better on the test. No attendance
No Comments
rude, makes fun of students (esp. liberals, women, other professors) no attendence, no need to go to the class which is the only good part about it.
Don't bother going. All notes are on powerpoint.
dont take him seriously, he is just joking around
I thought he was hilarious, and as a woman, not offensive at all. Made class entertaining and knows the material. Just because he is sarcastic, does not mean he is full of ****. I really enjoyed the class, it was challenging.
This class is challenging. He makes fun of students; try not to take him seriously and don't be late if you go. Do the tutorials, some test questions come from them and they are very helpful.
I loved going to his class. AWESOME teacher. Knows all the material, helps you outside of class. Do the tutorials and you'll be alright.
Fun guy... has a hard time explaining things but the book helps. Overall an easy class.
This class is sooooo much harder than his microecon class...I was blown away by how tough he was in this upper level course! DONT TAKE!!!!
Once you get past his negative sense of humor, his class is a ton of fun. He is very clear in his topics, and his tests aren't that hard.
This is the only class I have ever enjoyed going to. He doesn't take attendance but you will want to go to class just to hear what he makes fun of next. Easily the best teacher I have ever had. It is impossible to get lower than a B.
Funny guy.. doesn't care about attendance. He says you don't need the book but I suggest buying it for the tests... it saved me
Writing and graphs are sometimes messy and hard to read. Likes to pick on some students. Is always glad to help.
its refreshing to not have a liberal teacher...his class is really easy and takes only a little effort to study for the tests. he definitely knows what hes talking about and makes class entertaining. people who dont like him just need to lighten up. take his class if you want a break from all the other extremely serious teachers!
Rediculously unprofessional, and claims it's becuase he's tenured and can do whatever he wants. This class counts for a finance major, but I wouldn't recommend it if you're taking it for that purpose. I'm a finance major and found it pretty useful and hard to understand.
if you go to class and do the few online assignments, you'll get an A. i had no problem attending class because he makes it interesting. anyone who says he's an ass really needs to get a sense of humor. great class
This class is extremely entertaining, he loves his wife and his children! Attendance is not mandatory but I cannot imagine making it through my day without it. He also is eager to help you and would do anything for his students well being.
Best professor ever.
ridiculous. i think he purposefully thinks of jokes and tries to be an **** but it is actually pretty funny. class is always entertaining and attendance isn't mandatory. homework is guaranteed A and tests are okay. if you enjoy sarcasm definitely take him for your econ class
Love this guy. Sarcastic, mean, and rude; but he'll leave you laughing every single class. A few online homeworks, but guaranteed A. Study for tests and you'll pass no problem. A MUST TAKE.
Ruggiero is hilarious! He lies a lot. I would recommend going to class to get the notes. He usually lets you out a little early on Friday's and gives some extra credit!
All you have is tests but you have to study a lot for them. I felt like the questions were easy, I just don't understand economics. Really funny teacher! I'd recomend him over all other econ teachers that I've had!
In my opinion, if you really want to learn something, take someone else. It is true that he can be funny, but if you want to learn something substantial...it wont be from this guy.
Clearly the best professor at U.D. Besides being hilarious, he is among the smartest people I have ever met. His tests are hard, but he is fair. I love him!
He is one of the best professors that I have ever taken a class from. I learned so much and can't wait to take another course. He should be in the top 10 of your Top Rated Professor Listing.
Awesome lectures and assignments. He's funny and changes things up when you don't get it.
Dude is the bomb. I look forward to going to this class because it is like going to a comedy show. You don't really retain a lot from this class, but it is a pretty easy class.
Excellent presentation of material, can be tricky to follow at times but does a great job of clarifying if the situation requires.
Interesting class. Ruggerio was a decent professor. Only 3 exams each worth 25% and a lot of homework that are the last 25%...probably the best person to take for this class. Attendance is not mandatory.
One of my favorite professors at UD! He's hilarious and makes going to class really fun. He tries to be an a**hole, but he's actually a sweetheart. 2 tests and a final. Study for the tests. If you ask him to move a homework due date, he will. Attendance is not mandatory but you will struggle if you do not go. Definitely take Ruggiero!!
Ruggiero makes economics fun. I looked forward to going to class each day even though attendance was not mandatory. He is so helpful, he really wants you to do well. He will help you with homework even if its at ten at night and you message him on gmail. He tells a bunch of jokes, but hes all talk... hes a big teddy bear. Sgc.
Take this class! He will make it enjoyable, I always leave the class laughing and usually understanding the topic. His tweets are hysterical too. It was nice to finally not have a liberal professor. He is always willing to help. The online homework is not difficult, the tests can be a little tricky, but not impossible. Possibly the best prof at UD.
Awesome teacher, & extremely helpful. Attendance is optional, but you should still go. He makes all of the material really easy to understand in class & you will struggle if you don't attend. Willing to help you outside of class & is hilarious, so it doesn't make it painful to go to his office hours for extra help. Definitely take him!
Dr. Ruggiero is a cool guy. He's Catholic, Conservative (for a change) and a Browns fan, not much more to ask for. He is a good prof and tests the material he teaches but the class size makes it tough to get the most out of the class (not his fault). You can't take him too seriously when he jokes around, he's really a nice guy. Helpful.
Great Professor. He is very very quiet so it is pretty hard to hear him, so sit in the front row for sure. You dont have to go to class, but I suggest you do just to see him attempt some stand up comedy. Tests are right from his notes, and he gives away exact questions on the test because hes just a nice fellow. Take him!
Ruggiero is a great professor. Economics is a difficult subject for most students and he realizes that and does his best to break it down so it's understandable. I HIGHLY recommend going to office hours. I unfortunately didn't go till the end of the semester but it definitely helped (and I had fun!). Take Ruggiero, you'll be glad you did.
Great professor! I have learned a great deal from this course. Go to class, and take notes. Go to his office hours for help and questions, he really takes the time to help his students and it's something I really appreciated. His favorite phrase is hihello, and his favorite cats name is Stripes!
Best teacher I've ever had, hands down.
He is a funny dude but I hate how he grades on a curve and you never have any clue what your final grade will be before you get your report card.
Homework is done online, class isn't mandatory but his notes are vital to the tests. Understands the difficulty of some of the information, and gives bonus points/curves when he deems fit. Funny, understanding guy. Class can be dry sometimes but go to class, do the homework, try to participate if you can, use his office hours.
Coolest & funniest professor at UD. Boring subject matter but finds ways to make the class laugh. Understands the topic is difficult at times, so he grades accordingly.
Professor Ruggiero was super enthusiastic and fun in class. If anyone can make economics interesting it is him. Though I don't recommend economics because the subject matter is dry, I do recommend Ruggiero for this course.
Ruggiero is the man (even though he now roots for the Bengals). Class is very interesting and make sure you follow him on Twitter - you'll find a bunch of hints on exams and extra credit opportunities!
Professor Ruggiero is one of the best professors I have ever had at UD. He keeps the subject interesting and fun with jokes and twitter questions, and is very clear with what he expects.
Ruggiero is the man. He has lots of funny jokes and is a good teacher made me interested in economics to the point of possibly switching my major. His only flaw was choice of sports teams.
He likes to pick on people in class but if you go up to him individually he is helpful. Even if you don't do well on his tests you may end up with a good grade because of his curve. Overall, he is funny and makes an otherwise dry class interesting.
I thought the subject material was simple enough. I had to go in to his office hours and he was really helpful. Nice, funny guy. Gives out a lot of extra credit. Your only grades are tests but there are a lot of them. I recommend his class. Econ wasn't exactly my forte but i ended with an A because of extra cred. I enjoyed going to his class.
I absolutely love this professor. I went into his office hours all the time. He really cares about his students. His humor is just humor, and people that take it too seriously don't belong in his class. Great guy, and my favorite professor I've had at UD.
I enjoyed attending his class. The material was tough but he explains it well. Do not screw with him though, he HATES cheating and makes that a point. He is helpful when you need him to be. However, whoever said an A in this class is easy is mistaken. It is not easy to get an A in this class, however, homework and quizzes help a lot.
Ruggiero is the best professor at UD. If you say otherwise - you weren't doing your part as a student. He is always going above and beyond to help students - whether it be in or out of class. He hold office hours 247 and is willing to come in on the weekends to help you out. He cares about students who care about learning.
He was one of the worst professors I have ever had in all my years of schooling. He is arrogant, rude and shows incredible amounts of favoritism. Getting help is also very difficult and he makes students feel incompetent. He also rates himself on this site and so they have very little merit. Do NOT take this professor if you have a choice.
Though the class was boring he made the topic entertaining and more importantly never lectured long as he always let us out early for only a 50 minute class. No quiz's and minimal online homework. Tests are challenging but pretty much tells you the type of questions on the test the day before. Would definitely recommend if you have to take ECO 203.
This was easily the easiest class I have taken at UD. He only assigned 8 homeworks the entire semester and then dropped one. The testsfinal was just as easy, I did not even have to study more than 30 min for any of them. Definitely would recommend if you need to take ECO203.
I've heard so many bad things about Ruggiero from fellow students. I can't believe what I see here. He must have written his own reviews. He's arrogant, and thinks he's the smartest in the world. Lectures are long and boring. Don't take him if you can avoid it!
Funniest and easily one of the best profs at UD. Makes everything so simple and he tries to make his tests super easy as well. Genuinely cares about your success even though its a lecture hall. Going to class is actually a pleasure because of his humor. Some people say he's offensive, but he's only offensive if you're easily offended lol.
I would take him for all of my economic classes if I could. The subject matter is hard, but he genuinely wants all of his students to get good grades. He is always willing to help you during office hours and it is actually really helpful! He can be a little sassy, but it is all for fun! Don't take him if you are offended easily.
Economics is a tough subject no matter what, but he tries to make this class as easy as it can be. He always has office hours and is always willing to help. People that do well in this class do the homework, go to class and take notes, study hard, and go to office hours. People that don't do well don't study hard and don't try and then complain.
He's a really great teacher! Lectures can be long, but he always has open office hours and answers any questions you may have before the tests. Practice tests he gives out are very similar to the actual tests and are very helpful.
Going to his class was like going to a comedy. Not because it was a joke, but because this guy is hilarious! I wish I had it more than once a week. He even uses Yik Yak. He made difficult concepts simple. Some of his exams were rough but he would curve the grades in a fair way.
He is the best professor I have had. He is hilarious I always was excited to go to his class. He is easy too. He gives you the test questions!! He also literally highlights stuff in the book of what you should and shouldn't study. He even curves at the end. If you fail, there might be something wrong with you.
Prof. Ruggiero is by far my favorite professor at UD. Hes so kind and willing to go out the way for his students no matter what. If youre struggling in the class, go see him. He'll help you if you make effort to see and talk to him and even give you extra credit points. He's hilarious too . Great professor. Highly recommend him!!
If you are sensitive to jokes, don't take him. Awesome professor. Super funny and helpful. Teaches just for fun. He knows his stuff. You don't have to go to class. Read the online notes and you will be good to go.
Prof. Ruggiero is AMAZING!!! No other professor at UD spends as much time as he does helping students. Anytime you walk up to his office his door will be open and he will be ready to help you. Oh, and he is hilarious! You will never be bored during class. Taking Prof. Ruggiero will be life changing for you! He wants you to succeed! THEE BEST.
He is a great prof. in the sense that he is entertaining and knows what he's talking about. If you need help, go to his office hours - plus, you get bonus for going. His class isn't too hard, just don't slack off and you'll definitely be able to get an A.
One of the best professors I've ever had... the tests are hard but if you go to office hours he helps a lot and gives bonus points! Super understanding and helpful!
Ruggiero is the once in a lifetime kinda teachers. He was the best teacher I've ever had. My class met once every tues from 6:35-9:15pm. He made it enjoyable, gave us a break, &tried his hardest to let us out early while perfectly teaching everything. True gem in &outside the classroom. He knows his sports, econ, &how to make you laugh.
He is a funny guy and makes class interesting. He's a good teacher and definitely would take again. You have to work for it but he sets you up pretty well for tests. First test is rough but you get the hang of it. Office hours are bonus points and he will bump your grade up if you come to them.
I had this guy for three hours on Tuesday nights once a week, and he tried to make it as enjoyable as he could for all of us. He was funny, he talked sports, and actually made econ somewhat relatable. He lectures a lot, but he posts notes online. If you go to his office hours he will give you bonus points. Tests are okay, just study. Great Prof.
He was entertaining to watch during class, but I feel like it was harder to learn because he would go really fast. I always had to go to his office hours because I didn't understand the homework. But the good news was that he gives age amount of extra credit for going. So I ended up getting a decent grade. He does joke around a lot.
I got a decent grade in this class but I feel that I didn't actually learn anything. Definitely go to office hours for the extra credit. He's very sarcastic but sometimes takes it too far, especially for a class of 200+ students.
He's a really solid choice. The class isn't too difficult, and if you pay attention in class, you'll do fine on the exams. He's hilarious, although sometimes he takes it too far. He's intimidating at first but once you get to know him, you see that he's a very genuine guy. Honestly, the class is pretty stress-free. I can't complain.
Just read his twitter, it explains him. God touches the grade book when he submits grades. Best option for introductory economics. GO TO OFFICE HOURShella extra credit, it's the mistake a lot of students make. Become the biggest Tribe fan in America and buy the online code not the book. 3 tests + THE final & homework assignments
lectures all class and makes the info harder than it actually is. read the online book notes and highlighted practice problems. the 3 tests are the only grades
Ruggerio is fantastic. He could be considered offensive but he is hilarious. He's a great teacher and his office hours help a ton. Pay attention in class and take good notes and the tests will be easy.
Great guy who is absolutely hilarious in class. Is very clear and concise when presenting the material and is always available for his office hours.
This prof has very disorganized lectures that are difficult to follow. He doesn't use powerpoints or any type of guided notes so his lectures seem really sporadic and confusing. Your notes will be all over the place so it's very hard to study from them. On the plus side, he gives a huge curve for your final grade, so that's nice. Wouldn't reccomend
He is a really good teacher and I genuinely learned. He is also super funny. If you go to class, take notes, and study for the tests you'll be fine. He has easy homework grades that will give you a boost and the final is curved a ton.
Very nice and funny guy, made the class fun. I really enjoyed his humor. However, I didn't like the way he taught because he taught as if it were a review session. The homework is pointless but it's a really good grade boaster. His tests are really hard, but he gives a very generous curve at the end of the semester.
Ruggiero is a great professor. He can say some very interesting things but his stories are pretty comical. I recommend taking him for Micro. All his tests are multiple choice. He is very helpful during office hours.
only a few only online home works and 4 exams total, so there are not many grades to go off of
Definitely take him for Microecon. Attendance is optional but you should go to lecture. Great guy, he jokes around a lot. Go to office hours and he will always answer questions/go over practice problems with you. The tests can be difficult but he gives the homework a lot of points to balance your grade. If you put in effort you'll be fine.
If you get offended too easily and are too sensitive to a joke, then don't take him. Ruggiero is hilarious and not like your typical dry personality professors. He's easily approachable and as long as you do the homework and actually make somewhat of an effort, then the class is pretty manageable.
This professor is honestly one of the funniest people I've ever met. The class is extremely test heavy so if you are not a good test taker I would not take him. However, he gives you all the tools you need to succeed. Overall, a solid choice.
Missed the entire second half of the semester and still got an A in the class. Really easy and he added 10 points to everyone's grade just because.
Just a solid guy that loves economics and roasts people that distract the class. He is a great teacher for College and sets up his class as such. HW is due all by a certain date towards the exam as opposed to periodically. This gives you the freedom to finish the HW throughout the course or wait until the last day, priorities matter.
AMAZING PROF! Very funny & keeps the class interesting by joking around with students. Super easy A! He makes his tests easy & gives online hw assignments before tests that will help you get an A. He wants all students to succeed & gives everyone a big boost at the end of the semester. Got a D on the final & still ended up with an A in the class.
He was an amazing professor here at UD. He is so funny during his lectures and really cares about the success of his classes. He tries to make the tests as easy as possible and goes over what is to be on them the day before the exam. He jokes around in class and his homeworks really let you bring your grade up and aren't due until the day of exam.
I would take a bullet for this man. Just take his class.
This is by far one of the funniest Professors I will ever have. An easy class just show up sometimes. I would take any class of his just because he is so funny. Be ready to get roasted.
Professor Ruggiero is truly one of the best teachers I have had, I personally was very nervous coming into Microeconomics but he helped me so much, and even met with me on Sundays a few times! He has an amazing sense of humor and loves his students, and confidence! If you get the chance to take his class do it! if you put forth effort so will he!
Great professor, take notes and you'll be just fine. *This semester was fully remote* Class was funny and not terrible to be in. If you're a baseball fan he will gladly rip your team apart unless it's the Indians. 110% recommend.
Loved it
Do not take this Professor. On the first day of class he made sure to note that he was NOT racist or sexist, despite which some others may say. He also brings his political views into the class and shades others for their political views. Dont take his class. Hes not a good teacher and doesnt care about attendance. Its a waste of money.
John is such a great and funny guy. The class material is obviously not an easy A, but he makes sure that if any one is struggling they can reach out and he will do everything he can to fix your grade. He is very funny, might offend some people before and after class starts, but while class is going he is mostly mature and focused on the material.
This man can be seen as weird but he is so funny and always made class a good time.
I love this old man's class. John can be seen in many different ways, but is a great guy and has heart when it comes down to it. He is very open about grading so attend office hours, and you will do fine. He does tease a lot in class, so a thick skin helps. If people tell you he is homophobic or racist, he isn't from personal experience <3.
Professor Ruggiero was my favorite class this semester. He makes lectures interesting and is happy to answer any questions that students have. All test and homework grades are entered immediately. He is very knowledgeable and will explain with facts. Also a hilarious guy who really loves his sports (UFC and baseball). Ask about his project inBrazil
My boy Ruggiero is probably the dopest professor there is. He presents the information really well and asks for input to help the class understand the material. He's also hilarious and can go off on funny tangents during class. If you take John, ask him about the student getting chased by the cops story. You won't regret it.
I took this class completely online and class was not mandatory. I showed up only on review and quiz days and I still passed the class with an A. I would highly recommend taking this class for Microeconomics. He is so funny and makes jokes all the time.
Funniest professor I've had at UD. His class was very easy and if you attend lecture (even though it's not required) and take notes you will get an A. Would highly recommend if you need ECO203 or have space for an elective.
Ruggiero is a funny guy. His lectures are interesting because of how off topic he can get, which if you want to actually learn econ don't take his class, especially since it's online I didn't learn much. But there's like 8 homework's and 3 tests which is doable. Maybe if he had an in person class I would take him again.
Professor Ruggiero was by far one of the best professors I've ever had. Really could tell he was passionate about what he does. Lectures were super engaging and gave great real world applications that made concepts super easy to grasp. Not to mention, the dude is freaking hilarious. Totally recommend taking his class.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER! He is so funny and very personable. Would recommend to everyone that likes to enjoy life and has a sense of humor!
Prof Ruggiero is hillarous! Loved every class and was sad when the semester ended. Go to class and ask for help if confused and you should get an A. Would definitely recommend.
good class, even better guy. would recommend everyone takes him. he's funny and goes off on random tangents sometimes which can be good to break up 75 min of straight material. can always go up after class and he will help with any questions you have and is extremely helpful if you need any help
very funny teacher, but also a very good teacher. He makes concepts easy to understand. He also makes class interesting a fun to go to. Would recommend.
