I found him to be cocky at times but thought he was good at explaining the fundamentals. His tests were difficult so do all your homework. Don't get stuck in a slacker group for the 2 projects or you'll be sorry!

Very clear and very patient for those having a hard time. Can explain one thing many different ways and is available for help. I would recommend Mr. Ryan to anyone.

Is a very good teacher. Showed great patience for those who need extra ecplaining. Tests were challenging, but nothing that wasn't really expected.

So far, I am really enjoying Kevin. He is a great professor, who is very fun. He does tend to go a little fast, but if you pay attention, you will have no problems. I will take him for math 70 (pending if I pass Math 60, and he teaches math 70)

I disagree (I got an A in Pre-calc). Kevin is extremely helpful and devoted. The classes are fast because they are considered weed out classes. If you aren't studing of course you'll FAIL, why are you in college? Kevin was my fav. prof at LBCC.

This cat is coo! people think her is hard but those people are the ones that are failing. i am a rock when it comes to math but he explained it really good..as long as you do the homework and go to class you will get and A or B. all the tests are what you did in the homework. mad cool guy take him!

Keven is one of the two best math instructors I have ever had. He goes out of his way to be clear and helpfull. His test are hard but then it's not an easy subject. He grades fare. I'll take this guy again in a skinny minute. Nice person too.

i am sooo bad in math but mr ryan explains the procedures in very clear and concise ways so that i was able to understand. his teaching style stays the same through out while taking the time to explain each step. tests are difficult, but with enough studying one should have no trouble doing well.

I'm that guy who failed Nasab's class, wanting everyone to know that I retook calculus with Kevin Ryan, and got an A!! He is to Nasab as day is to night! I had Ryan for Calc. 2 & 3 and he is really awesome! He puts everything he has into getting you to learn. If you have any questions on the subject he will make sure he answers them. He is very knowledgable about math as well.

I took his class on summer. It was hard when you started but later it gets easier. He also let you have 3x5 card on test. He also let the class do the group project (same as extra credit if your score more than the average of the class). This project is kind of easy, but it really help you on the test. Recommend..

The nicest teacher I have ever had, gave a take home test because he felt bad about how hard the test was...and I heard he does that in every class. Genuinly cares about his students. Hard to take as a block class, at the end it seems like theres a test every time. Overall, tests fairly, take him.

You must study and do homework to pass, he'll quite happily fail you if you deserve it, or quite happily give you an A if you deserve it. one of the few "adult" style classes at lbcc. Good teacher, very helpful if you ask. Friendly as well. Speaks perfect english.

Great teacher took him for math 130 in the summer as well, and he was the best. If you dont like his style of teaching maybe there is something wrong with you, because he can make it any clearer. Nobody will get below a C if you try, and attend class. Highlt recommended

He is the most helpful and clear Math teacher I have had so far. Plus he is a funny guy. He will go over all your homework quesitons and give you all the help you need. You do have a lot of homework. He gives a super easy homework quiz every class (its his way of tracking your attendance).

I am a tutor at LBCC. I have had students coming in for tutoring for his class with questions more suited for a graduate number theory class than a summer section of algebra. If you have trouble with math, DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS during the summer semester. Too much information in too short a time.

Itookitsummer&recommendit. His lessons are clear&concise.i rarely used the book. He gives daily interactive quizes that boost your grade, allows 1 3x5notecard per test, homework is not graded, attendance not recorded,tests are just like examples from lectures and he is super helpful. Energetic and friendly. it was a 4hr class felt like 2hrs

Ignore the tutor. I had his class and the difficult stuff (s)he's talking about was extra credit. Trust me, if you pay attention in class, you wont even need the extra credit. TAKE RYAN! HE REALLY ROCKS

Greatest math teacher ever. He does sometimes get cocky, but he never throws it in your face. The class isn't too hard. As long as you go to class, you should be able to pass the class without too much studying. He allow you to use a 3x5 notecard on each test and sometimes more. He has many resources available to make your time in his class easier.

Kevin is a great math teacher. Like most who have posted here, if your one like me who hates math, he would be the one teacher to change your mind. You can really learn alot if you just go to class and pay attention. He's hard but he does have entertaining lectures and class goes by quickly. I highly suggest him. He's pretty cool also. Mr. Ryan made sense of Algebra. He is super helpful, and very clear. He knows the subject so well that he understands where mistakes are made and helps you avoid them. He has the best "tricks" for remembering complicated stuff. He also balances class time on stuff you need. BEST MATH TEACHER EVER!!!

His lectures; the best of all the Cal professors & LBCC has great Cal profs. He makes cal sing with his easy to understand explaining. Real cool dude. Just do all HW, review it constantly, come prepared and youll get an A.

BEST MATH TEACHER! If you hate math (especially fractions) take his class. He tends to explain things really fast, but he makes sure you're caught up and understand.If you do most of the hmwk, you won't have a problem with the tests. Mr. Ryan is a Super teacher. Great energy, enthusiam and humor. He goes back to basics alot to help you understand before moving forward with new material. 4 Ch. exams, quizzes and a Final = grade. Ryan goes above and beyond what a majority of teachers do today. His methods make everything crystal clear and almost fun. Great energy and he has a passion for what he does. One mazing thing he does is final review workshops that he presents just prior to exams. Kevin wants you to succeed.

Mr. Ryan is hands down, the best math teacher I've ever had - and this is coming from someone who has struggled with math their entire life. If you're considering one of his accelerated courses - attendance is mandatory, but I'd high recommend them. Its a lot of work, but worth it!

Math is my worst subject. The material for me was not easy, I spent countless hours studying. This guy can teach though, excellent professor! The way material is presented is awesome. Also the quizzes are pretty frustrating especially if you already don't get the material. All in all - I'd recommend Mr. Ryan to anyone.

GREAT teacher! It is wise to take him if you are not very math savvy. He provided us with a tutoring session in the tutoring center before each test, and he allows cheat sheets. However, he is great at teaching the material, provides extra credit, and he is more than willing to work with his students. Very nice guy! Made us all very comfortable.

If you have a chance to take his class and don't, you're a moron. He's the best math teacher by far. He is very clear in prepping you for tests but is a VERY strict (but VERY fair) grader. Make sure you put all your dt, dx, dy, d whatever, he'll mark you off. In fact just start tossing in random ones just to be safe. Super rad dude, you'll have fun

Take Him! He's awesome! He volunteers his time on Sundays before the exams. The practice tests are pretty much like exams. If you study the practice test, you'll do fine. Beware of his finals, they are hard! If you work hard all semester long you will get a good grade regardless of how you do on the final! =) You get a note card and a calculator

Professor Ryan is awesome! Took both 110 and 130 with him and I received a high A on both! The program that you learn, do homework with is great as well. He is clear, fair, and answers any questions you have. Take his classes!!

They make movies about teachers like him. He taught me from Pre-Cal to Calc3, and before meeting him I didn't think I would make it thru Calc1! You will work hard, but he will meet you halfway. Go to class, do the homework, complete the pretests, and attend the weekend help sessions to get an A.

Remember the movie Momentum? This is exactly how Ryan's classes are going on. After taking 100+ units in LBCC, I can definitely say that Ryan is the best professor I had so far. He's way of teaching is so unique that there is no way you will fail. He's passion for teaching is also inspiring. If you're in a wait list, don't worry, you'll get in.

His class was not what I expected. We used the aleks system which is pretty much teaching ourselves and didn't require him to teach but he did give some lectures and he's helpful.also he was teaching with another teacher so he wasn't always teaching us. idk personally the class was hard for me and aleks is hard to get done in a short amount of time

This guy is honestly one of the greatest professors I have ever had.I was never really good in math until I took Ryan. He is very clear in explaining concepts and problems. He writes his work out on the board very thoroughly. He allows you time to ACTUALLY process and think about the problems and ask questions.He is a very hard working professor!

He is my favorite professor! I hate math but he makes it so much easier for me. The exam is 95% exactly like the study guide. Just do all the homework, do the study guide and you will pass that class :)

By far one of the best math professors I've ever had. Math was a subject I struggled with and the only thing holding me back from transferring to a 4yr university - I felt stuck, defeated, and hopeless. Recently graduated from UCLA a week ago thanks to Prof. Ryan without his guidance and expertise I would still be taking math at LBCC.

Explains material clearly in a easy way to understand. No textbook required homework is due online. Practice test is really similar to actual test. Class will be easy if you do your homework and practice exams online.

I took all 3 sections of calculus with him and he was absolutely great. Before taking my first calc class with him, I had failed miserably with another teacher but with him I passed with an A. Yes the content is difficult, but he is very clear at explaining. Plus he sometimes lets students use a notecard for exams, which is great.

Kevin is a great teacher! I have struggled in Math and was at my breaking point. I failed 110 two times and passed his class with an A!! I moved on to 130 and glided on by.... The course is mostly online through a system called ALEKS! You purchase the access code on line and do quizzes, practice tests and other junk.

Excellent Teacher. Not only did he teach me how to integrate well, but taught the class how to use those expensive graphing calculators in his bonus after class lectures. (Numeral Integration and whatnot.)

I took Professor Ryan for math 110 and math 140 and he was really engaging with the students. I passed both his classes with A's and would take him again. His lectures were easy to understand and really helped when it came to the tests.

Best math teacher I have ever had. He REALLY loves what he does and makes sure everyone understands. Just a warning to those who hate tests, there are 3 tests and a final (worth two tests so 5 test grades total) and they are worth 80% of the entire grade. Then 10% projects which there were two . Lastly, 10% homework.

Very helpful, always wiling to repeat something that is difficult or confusing in class. Study everyday and don't do the homework the night before it's due, you won't finish it. The tests are hard but he doesn't throw any curveballs, whatever he teaches in class is on the test. I really, really recommend professor ryan for calc 2.

I was scared to take math but I'm glad I chose Professor Ryan. This class made me fall in love with math. There's no textbook, he works with a program called ALEKS. Very easy to use, do the hw and practice test and you will pass. The online practice exams are harder then his test, so the test a breeze. I currently have an A in the class.

If you come to class for the math lessons and do the homework you will pass this class. There are 8 small quizzes a midterm & final. Its math 110 & 130.

Took over the summer (normal 16wk class done in 6wks). There's no book, used online program called Aleks. If you miss more than 3 roll calls you will be dropped (takes roll 2x a day in class). Expect homework. Total of 8 modules, 8 practice exams, mid term & final, and complete 5 DLASLA's. MANDATORY test review lectures were extremely helpful

I aced his Calc 1, 2, and 3 classes. He is a fantastic lecturer and does a lot of examples to help clarify new concepts. Class projects are basically his version of a team study session. He accepted anyone who wanted to enroll and did everything he could to help the class out. By far, the best and most passionate teacher I have had so far.

Professor Ryan is a good instructor! He is pretty fast during his lectures but feel free to stop him at any time or save your questions till after class. He does not require you to use a textbook instead you use a computer program called ALEKS. It is extremely helpful and it helped improve my math a lot. Overall, his classes are great. Take him!

Hands down the greatest math teacher I've ever had in my LIFE. I've never gotten above a C in math. This class was the first time I got an A, and it's all because of Prof. Ryan. He's phenomenal. There is so much homework, but it genuinely makes you learn. He's also quite funny and so friendly. Took him at Cypress. Coolest, most helpful dude.

Prof Ryan is the BEST! He truly cares that you understand what you're learning & is always there to help you out. He uses ALEKS program so there's no book. There are 9 modules to complete over 16 weeks, 9 exams including mid-term & final and 5 DLA's are required.

Professor Ryan is great. I have taken him for all my math classes and he is a great teacher. His classes consist of an online program called ALEKS, he uses it to use his lectures and students use it as a textbook to do homework. I love ALEKS, aside from Ryan's great teaching, ALEKS has also helped strengthen my math skills .

He uses ALEKS instead of a textbook. His lessons are great and he never leaves anyone behind. He's patient and very understanding, just don't be stupid. There was an exam after each module. All of your work is done through ALEKS besides your exams, obviously.

Look this professor is not here to bs with anyone. He gives his all, so if you take his class you better be prepared to give your all.

Iv'e had the privilege of taking Professor Ryan for math 815, 130, & Stats. I love his teaching style. He uses Connect Math online. He teaches how to use a TI 84/Casio calculator to work the math problems. There are five exam & they are very similar to the practice tests which make them easy to pass if you practice them repeatedly and do the work

Awesome instructor who has a gift; of explaining things in a simplified manner. No text book required, but uses a computer base system call Aleks, which has a very similar teaching style. Professor Ryan is supper funny; and makes math interesting. His class is lecture heavy; and there is a lot of homework, which definitely helps with test.

I recently took him from math 130, this was the second time I took it, such a different experience from my previous professor. He has his own awesome way of teaching and you can tell he puts in work for his lectures. You will really learn from him. If you have any questions don't shy away. No book but you use ALEKS which has about 5-6 modules.

Since it was a winter session everything was rushed but it was a great experience overall. I actually liked it better than taking math for 16 wks. Kevin was very straightforward with (optional) lectures and moved through things quickly. Hes a good professor, I highly recommend him

I have always struggle with Math and professor Ryan helped me a lot to understand all the material. This class is heavy on the topics but he makes it easy to understand and he asks if you have questions . The grading criteria is clear. I would totally take him again. Best Math teacher in LBCC.

I took professor John Ryan from algebra-trig-Precalc... it was a rollercoasters of math, but I learned it all and even through difficulties I maintained a B in calculus. I credit Professor Ryan and his Alex program for all of my math knowledge. I even learned to program my calculator for things that I might later have forgotten. Thanks

I answered Completely opposite once in class once, Everyone laughed, he stopped them and sayed, wait, hes just processing. I no longer was embarrassed and I could clarify my answer. Dont take trigonometry through anyone else! Professor Ryan has a triangular meathod for remembering the unit circle. It was convenient and very informative. I even did something fancy regarding conversion of rectangular and coordinate systems by use of completing the square. It made me feel like I was really learning something! Appreciation!

After having passed his courses. This Man has written references for grants which helped me through some tough times. Hes tough, listen, learn, ask dumb questions. You wont regret it!

Statistics, taken during Rio Hondo College 4 week class. Exams were very easy. Majority of the exams only tested about 50% or less competency of the chapters they encompassed. Encouraged everything to be done via Calculator. Encourages lots of classroom interactions during lecture. If you have the time to dedicate to learn Stats this is an easy A.

I took Stats 1 with this professor . It was a hybrid class so all the homework was online and the exams were in class. There was a ton of homework however it's based on what will be on the exam so make sure you know how to do it . For the exam he let's you use a cheat sheet front and back. Excellent teacher would recommend ��

Professor Ryan is really cool and very helpful. He is very test heavy, as in tests are 15% of your grade and the final exam is 25% of your grade. But, he does give you really helpful study guides and allows a sheet of paper with notes on it for each test. His class can be fast paced, so be sure to show up and do your work on time.

Professor Ryan has been my favorite teacher that I have taken at Rio Hondo! He explains everything very well. All of the homework is done through Aleks and the practice tests are done on there as well. The tests are super easy if you take your time with the practice tests. 10/10 recommend professor Ryan!

I took this class online so I didn't interact with Professor Ryan that often, but he's a pretty genuine guy, and, as much as I hate math, I enjoyed the class! There is an exam given every 2 weeks and he goes over the questions with you, so it makes it much easier. Overall, he's a great professor! I recommend taking him!

An exam about every two weeks, but he goes over all of the questions with the class and allows a notecard that you can write the formulas on. I'll absolutely take him again if I get the chance!

This guys class was a relatively easy pass and, with just a little more effort than I put (which wasn't a whole lot) and easy A. The guy cares about his students and really puts in the effort to get you to understand the material and pass the class!

The course was easy. There are three exams and one final exam. Homework is assigned through Pearson MyLab and is due a day before the test. Extra credit is offered if you post examples to the exam discussion. The exams were not difficult. You are allowed to make a cheat sheet for exam, which helps out.

Easy A if you try.

Awsome professor. Great Course honestly it's pretty simple. The homework may seem a lot but just do them all by Sunday. If you do 2 each day you should be good. I took his online course and I recommend it one hundred percent. Thank you, Professor Ryan !

I really liked this class! Prof Ryan had amazing clear lectures and the examples were extremely helpful. I liked the structure of the course, with the exception of the homework. The online homework and quizzes sucked to do, but they were manageable. One-page cheat sheet for every exam, if you study the practice exams, you'll be fine for the tests.

Great teacher

I took an asynchronous class. The lectures were easy to follow through with and even gave tips on how to use the required calculator to get answers quicker. As long as you are consistent with keeping up with the lectures and homework you can easily pass this class. He's also responsive to questions so make sure to ask if you need help.

Take him. His exams are from homework. Attendance is not mandatory. He helps a lot. I would take him again.

Taken during the winter 2023 session I was SUPER worried to take calc 2 during the winter because of what I heard. It was a difficult class completely, I spent almost everyday at my computer doing homework when I wasn't in lecture but the actual prof. is a great and funny guy! Actually looked forward for lecture and feel like he explains very well!

Math is not my strong suit at all, in fact I am terrible at it. He really cares about your success and is super respectful. If I had to take math again, I would choose him as my teacher. I finished his class with an 89 percent, I emailed him asking if there was any extra credit I could do to bring it up 1% and he said he would just give me the A!

Took Professor Ryan during winter and he is very caring, comedic sometimes, and understanding! His notes and homework were very similar. He showed you how to use the calculator and had weekly discussions if you needed help with the homework/content or explain it. Review/Quizzes/Exams were similar. If you get the opportunity to take him, do it!

Great Professor, Math is not my subject so therefore I received a C simply because I struggle with math not because of the professor. Everything from HWK, Quizzes and Exams are on ALEKS & Professor Ryan is super helpful and Zoom meetings are not required but are recommended or you will get lost with certain chapters.

I took his STATS1 PLUS class in Spring 2024, it wasnt too bad, he is a math professor who tries to add a bit of humor to ease the pain of taking a math class lol, we used a platform for homework, quizzes, and practice exams that allowed us the opportunity to get higher scores and more practice on certain problems. Dont be afraid to ask quesions !

BEST PROFESSOR AT LBCC. He is super funny and cares to explain the coursework so you understand. I was never good at math and he made me feel like a mathematician. Super easy to follow with his worksheets. Unlimited hw & quiz taking attempts. 4 exams, easy to pass if you study! TAKE HIM FOR STATS.

Prof. Ryan makes stats engaging with his humor. Homework and exams are aligned, and he's responsive to questions. I found Unstuck AI and the free textbook super helpful for study prep.

IMA KEEP IT REAL! The problem MANY students have is the homework and tests. There is a LOT of homework. Their is typically 4 tests and there are practice test that has the same type of problems on the test which SAVED me. If you don't mind sitting 3+ hours on hw once a week then go for it but it could take up to 7 hours for hw per week be prepared.

Overall he's a nice guy, but be ready for lots of homework and exams. Exams are short and exactly like the practice exams which was great but sometimes you have to teach yourself certain material so be open to tutoring. Overall a fairly easy class as long as you don't fall behind.

I took his last 8-week course and found it quite overwhelming and tiring. There are many quizzes and homework chapters to complete each week. The homework chapter assignments could be retaken as many times as needed, but for the 3 exams given, you only have one attempt. There is no extra credit opportunities throughout the course.
