unclear,unorganized,hard grader and boring

Worst teacher ever. His lectures are all over the place and his exams are hard. He yells randomly and cant write on the board. He definitely needs to retire now.

The tests are very obscure, and the costs for the text books has been the highest of any college class I've ever attended. I also realized that you don't need to attend lecture at all to get a decent grade in the class.

ANNOYING, LOUD, UNCLEAR, INCOMPETENT!! His class is nearly impossible unless you read/study 6 hours a day! He gives no work other than tests so you have no other chance(s) to boost your grade. Do NOT take his class!!

I wish I knew this site 4 months ago, I couldnt drop his class cause it would screw me from recieving financial aid and i wouldnt stay in kinda thing. Bad teacher, I struggled to get a C, I always get at least B's on everything

Do Not take this teacher. Go to another college if you have to. He is incompetent. Does not answer questions. Hard and arbitrary tests. I got an A but God only knows how. I agree with the other negative comments posted

He doesn't follow the book at all, his test questions barely make sense, and his entire grade is based on a mid-term, final and in class book report. I didn't know whether or not I was passing the class until I got my grade two weeks after the final.

Clearly one of the worst ever!

I tried to add his class in Summer. He did addd me. But I drop it after a week. Why? Suck may be the best description for this professor. He teaches sh_t. He talks about f_cking things that will never appear on the exam. What ta purpose of doing that?

SUCKS! Do not take his class. This guy never teach anything in the class. What he talks in the class seems interesting, but there is nothing about history. I took History 5 class with him, but his lecture was about the size of Brazil, Argentina, and Australia. Is that history?

He is the worst history teacher. We seem to know more than he does. His class is so boring! He Gives tests on subjects that are not even in his lectures.

This man is the worst prof i have ever had. I use to love history but this prof made me hate it that semester. My advice never take him not even if he's the last prof take your hist another semester. HE SUCKS!! Oh yeah and his jokes are super retarded!!!

Makes absolutley no sense. Jumps through 2,3 topics per minute. Dances in class, yells, does weird things. He does grade on a curve, and his tests are multiple choice, but his lectures make no sense, so even though you have a good shot with multiple choice, you're left blind with your book.

AVOID THIS CLASS. I had him twice. I think he's very knowledgable on the material; he just seems to have no idea how to teach it. His test are impossibly hard -- perhaps the hardest I've ever taken. Lectures are impenetrable. "Book report TESTS" -- WHA?? If possible, TAKE SOMEONE ELSE.

he's horrible. avoid him like the plague, take Arnot onstead, you'll thank me. If you get stuck with him double check his grading key, he always made errors on them.

This guy is so annoying, loud, and a lousy teacher. Knowledgable but his lectures are NOT on exams. When I took him last year none of the stuff on his study guide was on the exam. No joke. WORST TEACHER EVER

TAKE MY ADVICE: Read the book over and over and you'll be OK. His lectures will confuse the hell out of you so think of them as entertainment purposes only! Use the syllabus to study. He's a nice old man, but you will be on your own to study!

Don't take this guy. You leave class confused. It's best if you just teach the material to yourself.

The only thing that I regret about his class is not dropping it earlier. He is a horrible teacher. I took the same class with a different teacher, and Honors section too, and i got an A. He doesnt explain half the material needed, and the things he does explain are not on the test. Also, his tests are very complicated. It was the most boring class.

AVOID!!! AVOID!!!! i am now kicking myself in the butt for not listening to the comments here! He is horribe and doesn't know how to teach! he sits in class and reads notes, which is not a way of teaching. i now find myself having just dropped the class with 11 days left becasue i don't wanna risk a low grade... do not enroll in any of his classes!

Needs to retire, agree with person that stated that. No need to pay for a class that will totally confuse and bore you to death. Definitely take class with someone else. I have never worked so hard for a C in my entire life.

I just dropped this class because the teacher is CRAZY!! He is impossible to understand and to follow his lecture and answers his cell phone in class! I could not get a grasp on anything he was saying and the book he chose was just as terrible! Do not take this teacher!!

Here's a history lesson for you, don't take him! His txtbook choice is atrocious! and his xtra credit report book is mundane! the reason for LAVC's severely low retention rate, BAD PROFESSORS! how can you keep students, if your professors are the worst apples in the barrel? Maddox is not necessarily a hard teacher he is just hard to listen to. From the first day he started one long boring story and everyday picks up exactly where he left off. After all these years of teaching it seems like he finally memorized every word and even the tone of the book...boring. Keep in mind all of this is coming from a history major

Do NOT take him! His class is mostly dependent study, you read the book on your own. His lectures are boring as hell, you get lost in what he's lecturing about and goes off on tangents. When you try to ask a question or ask him for help he isn't much help. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!

This old man complains about his health problems all the time. His lectures consist of him sitting in a desk infront of the class while he reads from his notes with the most boring monotone voice! If you ask him to repeat something, he looks at you like you're an idiot for not understanding him. SOOOO BORING and the tests are very difficult!

RUN, don't walk. By far the worst teacher I have ever had. Gets lost at what he is talking about and rambles on, and then remembers and throws it in. He even confuses his self. I would never take him again for any class

this is a horrible teacher. he should have retired at least five years ago, and his teacher's aid is horrible also. this teacher presumes to assume what people from the 1800s actually say and wastes a lot of time on such subjects. If you can avoid taking him do your self a favor and take anyone else!

Absolutely awful. The only way to get through is to use the outdated study guide, teach yourself from the book and supplement using the internet. His lectures are worthless, but he makes sure you come to class by only giving pop quizzes.

The WORST professor at valley. Pointless lectures that have nothing to do with the tests. You cannot even understand the lectures, he mumbles under his nose, and shakes half the time. Only way to pass is to teach yourself by memorizing difficult study guides. Only bright side is he grades on a curve off the highest grade on the test received.

this teacher is the WORST teacher i have ever had.... i was forced to drop his class due to the tests which have nothing to do with his lecture and his study guides which are old and he hadnt even gotten the book to be added in the bookstore.

Second time I have taken his class. Material is STILL outdated after he said he would change it last year. Study guide somewhat helped, until it no longer matched the textbook. Multiple choice tests on material that wasn't covered during class. Rude to students, talks too quietly. Avoid his class, take at a different college if possible.
