Outstanding Professor. Made the course challenging and fun. Tests are take-home and not that bad. They are challenging, but at this level, that's to be expected. If you do the homework (at least make some attempt to do some problems), you shouldnt have a rough time here. Overall, A+++

Samons is great. I fully recommend him. Boils stats down to the essentials. Course is well structured. Handout packets are helpful and informative. Course needs to be seperated in sections for liberal arts and science majors. Should be more in depth for science majors. Laziness is the only reason for not making a good grade.

I can't begin to express how much I love Prof. Samons. I went into STA being soo scared and horrible at math, but this is the first math class where I finally GOT it. He is so helpful and will re-explain things if you need it. I went from a D average at the beginning of the semester to an A!!! He's AMAZING. TAKE HIM!

he is really nice, provides notes FOR you so that you don't have to write them down, just follow along and make little notes here and there. first part of the course is a bit challenging, after that it's smooth going, better if you don't miss class although he does give you notes so it's not to bad if you miss class, very very helpful, good teach.

math is not my thing, but this is a must have teacher! he breaks it up into easy section and tests. if you are happy with your test grade you don't have to take the final. he is also funny and makes everyone laugh. the book is only used for homework and he hands out practice sheets before the tests. you will enjoy this class!

He made it simple and fun. Class wasn't mandatory. No pop quizzes and an option to take the final or not. Sammons made Stats easier than algebra and gave preprinted notes. Strongly recommend this professor for stats.

Funny guy and pretty easy class. The only grades are for the test. No quizes, homework is given but not graded and final is optional. Only studied 3 times (before the tests) and made a A. Will take again. Did not use the book (unless you do the homework).

Mr. Samons has been one of the best mathematics/statistics teacher I've had at FCCJ. He has a laid back approach to teaching. We did not use the book with the exception to homework that was not graded. There are four tests given in which he provides study sheets for each one and the final is not required. Easy prof, take him!

Great professor I do not like math because I was never good at it but since professor Samons is such an outstanding professor I not only passed the class with a B I'm better in Math and I no longer need help from a tutor.

Stat is really an "either get it or you dont" class. Professor Samons makes statistics easy to understand by giving you all the notes you need in packets before you start the section, and he also gives you a forumla sheet that you may use in tests..you dont have to buy the book. great professor, usually had the class laughing as well!

Samons knows his stuff. He's very friendly and makes stupid jokes but its entertaining and doesnt make the class boring. His class is easy if your just starting out in stats. He was by far the best math teacher I've had. I don't know if the class was just really easy or if he was just that good at teaching. Maybe it was both, but take him and you will not be disappointed. This was the greatest Statistics teacher ever! Very clear! Helped you learn the material! You don't have to use the textbook at all. All of your learning is from the lesson packets he gives you. He also gives you a formula packet on the tests! Your grade is your test average.

I have struggled with math my entire life with math and got an A in this class. And A AND I understand everything he taught. His notes are typed so you don't need the text book, classes are short, and he's really nice. He has started giving (graded) homework and you'll need to get mymathlab (buy it on amazon it's a lot cheaper than the bookstore).

This was a MyMathLab class - all the homework was done online. Classes followed a simple format: get a packet for a section, work through packet. How to get a good grade, even without going to class: Get packet; work through packet; do homework; do practice test (with answers) at the back of packet; take test. Can't go wrong with him. Nice guy.

This class was extremely easy. All of the homework is on MyMathLab and it's all due at the end of the semester. We have a test every couple chapters and the final is optional. Overall a "chill" class, it's hard not to pass.

Amazing professor. All hw is online and due the last day, but it's good practice. His study guides are the exact test questions but he changes the numbers. Go to class and get his notes. VERY HELPFUL. Drops the lowest test, so if you are happy with the grade before the final, then it is optional. Never got lower than an A. First test is the hardest

EXCELLENT teacher! He doesn't use the textbook at all, but all homework is on MyMathLab. I hadn't had a math class in 17 years and he made it very easy to understand and is available for help if you need it. He isn't overly wordy and uses the calculator vs making you learn the long way to solve the problems. HIGHLY recommend!!!!!!

Professor Samons is quite nice and enjoyable. He teaches the essentials and forgoes any theory, proofs, or applications. Homework is optional (as is the final), but helpful. Lectures are typically short and simple. Most of the class materiel relies on pre-calculus algebra and calculus II.

EASIEST MATH CLASS EVER. All notes typed and handed out. Formula packet to use on every test. Responds to emails, allows you to show up to his other classes if unable to make your scheduled one. Homework on MyMathLab, not a huge workload. 4 tests, final replaces lowest scored test if you want to take it.

I'm horrible at math and I got an A! Prof. Sammons is nice and gets to the point! Printed handouts for each chapter and use study guide on exams. Just fill out whatever you need to on study guide, he doesn't check them!! All hw done online and have till end of semester to finish. Retake problems as many times as you need. No excuse to not get an A!

Great teacher, he is very to the point, teaches you what you need to know and will go over anything again. He won't make you feel stupid if you don't understand something and he will take his time with you. Homework wasn't bad at all and the test were pretty easy --straight from the class examples and homework.

To be honest, you will not find a better teacher anywhere else. He is amazing, he will help you and explain everything in great detail, even if it is something simple. I wish he taught more classes at FSCJ. Take his class you will not regret it.

This guy is great he's funny and teaches very clearly. He usually finished class early and we had days we didn't have to go to class. His tests were half take home and half in class, but you could use the take home on the test. I could tell he knows what he's doing I mean he gets paid to check math books for christs sake.

Professor Samons is hands down the best professor I ever met. Don't buy textbooks, just the access code because he will give you packets that basically summarize everything for you. There are 4 tests and all of them, he gives you half a paper cheat sheet so you can write whatever you want to be able to pass the tests. Easy A, and such a nice prof.

Really easy class to pass. Grades are mostly pulled from MyLab and exams. Provides you the notes and you can create a cheat sheet during the exam. Learn and understand the material though. Most of the solving he teaches you are off the calculator.

I absolutely HATE math, but Professor Samons was SO HELPFUL and will work with you as long as you are willing to put the time and effort into it. He really cares about his students success. HW isnt due til end of sem but i wouldn't wait to catch up. you'll need to purchase mymathlab and i used a TI 84 plus CE calculator. he usually cuts class early

Professor Samons is an amazing person! This is more of a hybrid class for me. You can go to class but most of the work can be done just on the computer. Easy A. Not a lot of homework, used by ALEKS not mymathway. 4 test, he gives extra time to take them, random quizzes in between. Go at your own pace class. I finished within a month.

Professor Samons is a very caring and easy going type. HW is assigned for each covered chapter, but not mandatory (or graded). There are 3 exams, and all were take home. The exams are quite a bit different than HW. They are more confusing, and more complicated in integration and algebra. He makes everything look easy. Very knowledgeable!

I would highly recommend Professor Samons to anyone who likes to work at their own pace. He's a really caring person and will help you if you ask!

Very good professor and is lenient. I would take him again for any math. Math is my worst subject and he made statistics easy. I passed the class with almost a 100. He gives multiple chances on quizzes and two chances on tests. I had him for summer express and loved it. Easiest math class I have ever taken because of him. I highly suggest him.

Mr. Samons was a very conscientious and caring professor who helped me through a lot of the formulas that I could not clearly understand and made them very clear and concise in his notes for students. There is no doubt in my mind that I would strongly recommend him to others; he is that helpful and gives very good feedback if asked.

I have always struggled with math, but Professor Samons is always there and ready to help. He provides great powerpoints to help you along and allows you many chances to get your grade where you want it. Best math teacher I have ever had!!

The only thing I didnt like was I didnt know before enrolling that it would be online. He even calls it a partial hybrid class. I dont like learning math online, but this was an exception. Hes very helpful and willing to help you, explains everything to you step by step if you go to class and ask for help. Easiest A in math that Ive received.

Prof. Samons is great! Be aware that his class is online and you only go in person to take a test. He is very caring and is there to help whenever you need it. Overall, the class isn't hard at all you just have to put your time into it. Prof Samons also leaves notes on every topic learned.

One of the best math professors i have ever had. It is all basically online but you can go to him for help anytime, very respectful and teaches math very well and understandable.

He is a nice professor but, you have to teach yourself because it is basically an online class expect the tests you have to take them in the classroom. There is no lectures at all.

His Elementary Statistics class started off super easy, but got much tougher as I got deeper into the class. Class isn't mandatory, but he highly encourages students to attend to do homework and ask questions. He also gives wiggle-room on tests if you answered within a number of the correct answer on tests and quizzes. I'd definitely take him!!!

This class used ALEKS for all the classwork and assessments, which were ALEKS time, 39 lessons, 6 quizzes, and 3 tests. No final or midterm. He provides instructor resources for every single lesson and is always there to help. He cares a lot about his students and is understanding and flexible. Great class, easy A!

Everything is online through the program/website Aleks. Personally, I really like Aleks, but of course if you need help you can ask Samons. He does not lecture at all, its all online but he is there for help, so you dont need to come to class. For taking a statistics class, it was easy. Only reason I got a C was because I didnt turn in test 4.

I would recommend this professor for online classes. Thanks to the program ALEKS, you basically teach yourself how to do the math. I put off college for 20 years because I was bad at math. This is the first time I've done so well. You have to do your lessons as part of your grade. Prof. also has weekly classes to ask questions but not mandatory

An online course and it was optional to go to class only if you need help on a certain assignment/or stuck on an assignment. I don't know why there are people saying he doesn't teach. YOU HAVE TO ATTEND CLASS and ask questions if one of your lessons doesn't make sense to you/reach out to him and tell him your problems. He'll definitely help you!

Samons' Topics in Mathematics is a great course if you want to learn the material without being oversaturated with needless homework. With online format I've learned more than in most courses I've taken. Samons makes it so you can be quite self-sufficient, but he'll help when needed. For me this course proves that online classes can workout well.

Prof. Samon's was an excellent math professor! I finished with a 100 and only showed up to class on the first day. Online lectures are optional unless you have questions and need to attend. He answers emails within minutes (even on weekends). He is always ready to help! As long as you put in the effort, you will pass! I'd take his class again!

Seriously, take this professor. I was nervous to take a math class for 3 years and put it off until my final year. This was one of the best classes I have ever taken. He lets you have two pages back and front for notes during the final. Do your homework every week and before you take the final do a big review. A lot of profs could learn from Samons

This is the best Professor I've had in FSCJ by FAR. He truly cares about you & ur grade. Lecture was online, 2 days a week, no textbooks. Definitely recommend this professor, it's truly an easy A, you just gotta put your part and do the assignments.

Samons makes this math class engaging, even for non-math people. The online format allows self-paced learning, but Unstuck ai is a helpful study tool when you need extra support.

The prof himself is kind, helpful, & wants u to succeed. I didn't like ALEKS, the program the class is on. It's NOT clear how many problems u have to do & will have u going in loops & was a headache. The classwork is self paced & at the end u have a proctored final worth 75% of ur grade. I recommend this class if u don't mind ALEKS. Prof is awesome

Attendance is not mandatory. He helps you out if you have a live online log-in class so you take advantage of the time. If you have any questions, he will assist you. The proctored final exam allows a reference sheet. The final exam is worth 75% of your grade. It wasn't that hard of a class. Very funny and helpful during class easy communication

amazing teacher, i would take his class again its really easy to pass. everything is online and you do it at your own pace before the class ends. you do one test and the end of everything but he lets you have notes. he does noty care about attendance only you fishing your work. he is very helpful if your needing help on somthing.

The class was easy, and the professor was both approachable and helpful whenever assistance was needed.
