I think he is highly overrated. I took him for Deviance and he is nothing but information overload. He thinks he's entertaining-but real cheesy.

I took Deviance from Schneider and thought he was outstanding! Probably the best course and professor I have taken at CSUSM. Whichever of my colleagues in the last entry who called him "information overload" and "cheesy" is an idiot,

This guy rules...plain and simple. If you don't like him, eat a #*#%!! You are probably just too lame to go to class, and learn anything. Go Broncos..even though I don't like them!

The most awesome professor any college student can have! Professor Schneider definitely knows how to teach a class... he not only is funny and enthusiastic, but very smart, intelligent... and really helps his students in any way, shape, or form.

I have been here four years and taken five classes from Schneider. Trust me, you will learn SO much! And every student is treated with respect. His tests are challenging, but the information will stay with you. Gotta take him!

Dr. S. is the ish. He is SO CLEAR about his expectations, you'd be a fool not to know what was going to be on the test. He gives you clear study guides and discusses everything you need to know in class. His lectures are very structured in an outline.

The guy is an AMAZING prof. He knows how to include appropriate humor into his lectures, even on serious of topics. I learned to view issues from many sides now which is something I hadn't done before. A really fair grader. If you make errors you know why, no guessing. Changing my major! Take him.

I have had Dr S for 3 classes and plan on taking 2 more of his classes next semester. He is incredible. He teaches very clearly and makes the material very easy to understand. He grades fairly and never tries to trick you with anything. I changed my major to Soc because of him! Take him he's awesome

Hands down best professor I ever had! My only regret is that I didn't take Schneider sooner. Very objective professor (which is so refreshing after having so many biased ones) who really cares about both subject matter and his students. Class is tough, but totally worth taking.

I had professor schneider for Criminology, Soc. of Violence and Devience. he is a great teacher and his lectures are very clear. If you attend class and read his tests are easy. I am looking forward to taking more classes with him in the future.

I was wary of taking Sociology but I heard he was really good. Actually he is fantastic! I am declaring Soc as my major because of him. His lectures help the material make sense to me. Tests are tough but very fair and he gives a review sheet to aid you. I am learning so much. Take him if you can

Dr. S is the one of the best professors that I have ever had and certainly the best professor at CSUSM! He makes learning fun and interesting and you gain alot of knowledge from his classes. I definitely recommend him to anyone taking Soc classes. Too bad he doesn't teach other subjects too!

He should be an actor cuz he can explain anything dramatically! Makes understanding easy but his grading style isn'y as easy. Make sure you follow PRECISE directions or you'll get marks knocked off. Other than that he's awesome!

Best professor I've had in 4 years. He makes all material interesting and very clear. He's incredibly helpful, and always willing to make time for you. His teaching style makes everything familiar to the students. I'd take him for every class if I could.

4 exams & 2 writing assignments. wants u to succeed. very helpful when needed. class is somewhat hard, but only because i procrastinated alot and never studied. still very fair-gives study guides for tests. still waiting for grade, but am pretty confident that i got a B. great attitude. go broncos!

Dr. Schneider is by far the best and easiest professor that I have ever had. His lectures are awesome and very enjoyable. As long as you come to every class and take good notes, you can easily attain at least a B. He is also very approachable and is always willing to help you with anything. This professor should get an award!

This class was super interesting. His lectures appear to be long but you really learn a lot. You come out of the class with an enormous amount of knowledge about Deviancy.

You want great classes? Take him. I've taken four and learned more than in my other college classes combined. He's super organized, really clear, and always willing to help. I get e-mail replies to my questions the same day, too. He loves what he does and it shows. My friends were right. You can't go wrong with Schneider!

Awesome teacher. Knows his subject. Hard in a good way. Relates material to real life. Picks good reading material. You will learn a lot in any of his classes. You will want to go to any of his classes and actually do the readings.

Hands down one of the best teachers at CSUSM. He's very helpful and his tests are firm but fair. He even remembers your name which is rare.

The best prof. at the University. He knows his topics, makes them fun and interesting, and makes sure you learn them as well. Schneider will not forget your name, nor will he miss an opportunity to say hi across the campus when he sees you.

Schneider was the professor who made me change my major to sociology. His classes were so enjoyable and so informational, it helped me to see that this was the path I wanted to take.

The best teacher I have ever had! He is wonderful. His lectures are clear and concise. He is very considerate, easy to talk to. You can even call him just to talk! lol! He is a very interesting and enthusiastic teacher! The best!

Dr. S. is the best. He makes students feel welcome and can make tough subjects easy to understand. His real world examples of concepts make Sociology fun. And he knows everyones names! Be ready to work hard though. No free rides. But I've never learned more from any professor ever. Gotta take him, you can't go wrong.

By far the best class ever! Everyone is deviant in some form or another. Two papers, tests with study guides and a cumulative final all lead to an "A" if you properly prepare.

Schneider is one of the best teachers I have ever had. If I would have had him as a freshman, I would have become a Soc major. He is very entertaining, and the class is enjoyable. The class requires reading and assingments and has a few tests, but was still one of my favorite classes at this school. I hope to take him again. Highly recommended!

I took this class because it was a requirement at first I thought it was boring but the professor made it so interesting that I actually enjoyed it. He is very kind and helpful he really wants you to learn the subject. He is always available if you have any question. Take his class you will enjoy it!

Schneider is a great professor! He is very passionate about his subject matter, but is very detailed. There is a lot of work involved, but if you are up for it, take him. I voted for him for Professor of the year, because he is great!

He is excited about the material & he feels some sort of bond with each theorist. Sort of over the top for me. 2 papers (5pg+ each), 3 exams & a CUMULATIVE final. It's a LOT of work. It's managable. Go to class, it's not mandatory, but it is necessary if you want to pass. He's a good prof, but honestly it's more work than fun.

He is amazing! We love him! Too bad he is leaving. He will teach online though. He is very clear, understanding, humorous, and even though the class starts at 8am, it's hard to fall asleep. Assignments are fun and the reading isn't so bad, besides you don't have to read so much.

He is such a wonderful teacher. Don't get behind on the readings and there is ALOT of readings. Online course could be different compared to lecture. Extremely helpful. If you have lots of essays, he's grades fairly.

One of my fave professors of all time. Some aspects of his class were extremely difficult but he is an awesome teacher. Always willing ot help and makes lectures on boring material interesting. I never opened my books once all semester and went into the final with an A. LOVED him!

This class was so easy. All the lectures are online. Discussion board was optional, although I felt bad not writing them. Tests and 2 papers were easy. Super nice and very enthusiastic. He is an awesome teacher!

PHENOMENAL teacher. Course is online - I was a bit apprehensive. Lectures are clear, interesting, & often amusing. Very helpful and involved with students. Tests are fairly straightforward but you DO need to prepare for them. He gives you a study guide. 5 tests & 2 papers (your choice of 5 options). I highly recommend this Prof! A+

OK, I was concerned about taking on-line classes. But I heard he was good in class when he was here. His class was amazing! His lectures were really clear and he has a sense of humor. He grades hard, but fair. So you need to be ready for his tests and papers. But if you pay attention to all that is required, you will do great. Take him! A+

I have taken many online classes but this is by far the best one. The teacher makes his lectures very interesting to read and he is very helpful with anything you need. I would definitely recommend his class. Only hard part are his tests (5) but read his lectures and books assigned and you will be fine.

I took Soc of Violence in my 1st semester of an exchange programme (I'm from England) decided to take Soc of deviance the next semester purely because i loved this professer. Such a nice guy! really supportive, amazing at making the material interesting - loads of handouts and literature to relate to father than just theory theory theory!

Wow! What a wonderful class! Ive never had an online class with a professor as passionate and helpful as Dr. S. Wonderful man and very dedicated to his class, even though he lives in Arizona. FILL OUT THE REVIEW SHEETS! Or else you won't pass the class. 2 easy papers, get to choose from 5. Do the review sheets and you'll be fine! Great class!!!!

Absolutely amazing professor. I just finished his SOC 320 class and I was a little hesitant taking it online but he was wonderful. He's so passionate, supportive, and very helpful. I loved his lectures and they're clear. Use all books and tests are based on lectures/readings. 2 papers picked out of 5. The dicussion boards help with learning!

I have always been an A student. Even though I received a B+ in Theory I think I learned more in this class than any I have taken in Sociology. Dr. Schneider is amazing in terms of his quick and supportive feedback. He has inspired me to want to go the next level with my education. Take him if you can. Lectures rule. I give him an A+!

Schneider is one of the best professors I've had at CSUSM. He really cares about his students and answers emails as soon as he can. Although I took his class online, it did not feel like an online class at all.The 5 test are fair and on all the information from his lectures and readings. The essays are on the info we learned in lect. AMAZING MAN!

Its an online class, and one of the best online class I have ever taken in my college career. The lesson plans are fun to read as the professor makes funny comments. Professor is helpful when you e-mail him and really wants you to learn. He is a huge Broncos fan. Best online class I will like to recommend to everyone out there

AMAZING! I wish I had him in a normal class setting. His online lectures were great reads. The class is very straight forward, prepare for the essays in advance so youre not struggling for observation hours the week it's due. I put in about 4 hours of work into the entire class and got a B+. Wish I paid more attention because he is one of the BEST!

He truley changed the way I observe our behavior. Responds to emails promptly & tests were very fair. Take him if you can! You won't regret it. :)

He is the BEST professor ever! This is my first online class and I was afraid at first, but he does not make it bad at all. He makes us understand through lecture and is fast at responding.

AMAZING! One of the best online teachers I have ever had. While most online courses focus heavily on the forums in this class they were not required but rather encouraged. Sometimes the readings were long but they were conversational and verity easy to get through. He uses real life examples so that students can relate theories to everyday life.

GREAT Professor who loves what he does and has a passion for SOC. Wish he taught live instead of on-line because he's really good & makes the subject fun/interesting. Not gonna lie, a lot of reading from his cyber lectures but interesting!! If you do not read/study them, you will not pass this class. 5 tests and 2 papers. Don't fall behind!!

Schneider is my all time favorite professor. His written lectures are very interesting and well organized. For papers he gives you several different topics and you get to decide which topic to write about. He is encouraging and you can tell he really cares about the subject matter. I have taken him for Soc 101 317 318 and 320. They were all great!

There's weekly written lectures you have to read and take notes on in order to pass. I only opened the book to find answers to a few test questions. His lecture notes were interesting and intriguing. He made the class fun to learn about. Discussion boards aren't mandatory and he's very helpful. One of the best online professors I've had.

By far one of the best professors you may come across at John Jay, his lectures are very engaging plus his years of experience as an NYPD Officer makes things more intriguing. Overall i would highly RECOMMEND him, you would never regret it . out-standing professor. don't have to purchase text book.

Prof. Schneider is awesome! I took him online but his lectures felt more like letters and they were very interesting. There were 2 essays, and 5 tests. Everything was open book since it was an online class so it was very easy. He seems like a very nice guy and he made this class very enjoyable.

Honestly love this professor so much I wish he taught on campus so I could take his classes in person! He is so helpful and clear, and I actually enjoy reading his lectures. You can tell he loves what he does and he cares about his students. Two papers (out of five options) and five open notebook tests. Highly recommended!

He's a great professor! He makes it very clear what he expects from you and is always happy to help. There are 5 tests and you DO NOT want to miss the time period that they are open because you will receive a 0 for the test. His tests are curved, which is nice.

One of the best online classes ever. Took 4 other classes and this was my fifth and it was such a relief to have such a laid back class. The class consists of online class discussions one day a week for a little under an hour and its so easy, an easy midterm and final. Would definitely take another class with prof Schneider. textbook needed often

Even though you are reading his lectures, he makes them funny and enjoyable to read. He is a great professor and is really nice when giving feedback. He replies to emails fairly quickly and helps the best he can. There are two papers you have to write but he gives you plenty of time and they are pretty easy prompts to write about. Great class!! :)

I enjoyed taking his online class. His lectures were long but very enjoyable. The textbook required for this course is not boring either. The workload isn't bad. -You expect a lot of reading. His expectations are clear. I would happily take another one of his classes. (It is too bad he doesn't teach my other required courses.)

Had him this semester (Spring 2016) for his online Sociology 317 Youth & Society Course. He's a really good teacher. I heard really good things about him and now I'm saying the same thing. Although his lectures are long, they are very entertaining. He totally cares about his students. His classes are worth taking.

Best teacher for an online course, it was my first online class and even though sometimes I would forget I was in the class(for like two straight weeks) i still passed the class. Class has 2 papers and 5 tests all online and teachers lectures not only have all the information you'd need in them, but they are also very interesting.

This course is online and is the most engaging course I've ever taken. Not all the discussion posts are required to do, there are 5 exams that are straight out of the text and lectures (USE THE TEST REVIEW SHEETS)!!! Only two papers that are very short but interesting to write. His lectures are conversational so they are very interesting and easy.

TAKE SCHNEIDER!! He is so caring and passionate about sociology. All his lectures are posted every tue/thur! DO review sheet before taking an exam because that helped me a lot. I often forgot about this class because I was so overwhelmed with school, but hey I passed. Anyways the class consists of 4 exams + 1 final, 2 short papers and discussions.

I've taken Professor Schneider for 101 & 320 and he is a great professor. He posts two online lectures a week that are a couple pages long but clearly outlined. The class is graded on 2 essays that you have options on which essays to do and when during the semester. Must participate on at least 5 discussion boards during the semester. Great class!

Unfortunately, the structure of this online class isnt very beneficial. The lectures arent videos, but word documents. Long. So be prepared to read more than just the textbook. He seems to have a Type A personality. Its not a hard class, but I wouldnt take another class with him.

He was so knowledgable and made learning fun. I did not like the fact that he did not use textbooks or lectures, rather his own quick notes of lectures that were harder to read. However, all in all he was good. Responded to emails and gave you feedback about how you were doing in the course. Not lenient, but definitely helpful. I recommend.

If you dislike reading like me, you may not enjoy this class. His lectures consisted of documents which were on average about 10-15 pages. At least he did make them a bit interesting and engaging. This semester we had 3 mandatory discussion boards, 1 essay, and 5 tests. Had clear communication and gave good feedback throughout the semester.

Dr. Schneiders class lectures are entirely in text. If you can get pass all the reading, hes awesome! They are easy to read and he includes personal experiences to solidify the materials. The tests are based all on his lecture or e-readings, one major paper, a couple discussion and thats it. He grades on a curve and gives NO extra credit.

I'm a graduating senior and a non-sociology major (I'm pre-med). This class was alot of work and I might get only a B or B+ but I learned more in this class than any class I've taken. His written lectures seemed too long at first but I came to love them. It was like he was telling a story. I can use this information in my career. Take him!

Dr. Schneider is great! I would recommend taking him if this is your first time taking sociology. There was one paper, three discussions posts, three response posts, and five exams. Sounds like a lot but it's not. Each test is comprised of 25 multiple choice. Pro-tip: all the answers are on his lecture notes which he makes pretty colorful.

This prof is very demanding but he only wants us to do our best. I will likely just get a B and I've worked very hard. But that grade is fair. It has inspired me to do better. But I have learned so much! I am a Psychology major but will change to Sociology because of Dr. S. He answers e-mails. He cares! Take him. Thanks for helping Dr. S.!

This is my second time taking Professor Schneider and he made sociological theory fun! Your grade consists of 3 forum posts and 3 forum responses, 1 paper, and 5 multiple-choice tests. Lectures vary in length and are given twice a week along with your weekly assigned readings.

Professor Schneider runs a really good class. He makes all of his lectutes/notes and all of the exams and discussion boards are based on these so read and study them thoroughly. The exams have some tricky questions sometimes but overall isn't too bad. He's also really caring and funny.
