Wonderful teacher. Really truly cares about helping his students pass. friendly, likes to have fun in class, always in a good mood, gives extra cerdit for things like wearing an "interesting shirt" in cetain days, etc.
Schultz is awesome! He's very helpful and definitely easy on the eyes...
AWESOME guy. Makes the subject interesting. He has alot of personality and is very easy going. Takes attendance. Anyone can do well.
Awseome teacher. Has a lot of charisma, great personality, makes class a very enjoyable experience. Just go to class, it'll be worth it!
amazing lecturer
Requires way too much for a theatre class Must attend 2 plays, a research paper and response papers for plays class reads. Spends the whole semester on greek snd romans. Don't buy plays, get summaries from online and save some $. Attendance is mandatory even when he is out of town and is part of gra
Mr. Schultz is the best teacher I have had at TCC. If you don't want a lot of reading back to back, don't take him in the 6 week semester, genious. Considering the fact that it is an accelerated term, he does not require all that much reading. The class is a challenge, but if you pay attention in class and take good notes you're fine.
AWESOME guy! He is a great teacher and really pays attention to what the class needs in order to build trust within the group. Interesting class.
GREAT TEACHER!
GoodGuy,had him for 3 classes. enjoyed everymoment of them. Never sit in the same seat twice.
Schultz is a great teacher. Very passionate about his classes. If anyone thinks he gives "too much work for a theatre class" regarding THE2000 - it's NOT a theatre class, it's a HUMANITIES class, with a writing requirement just like it says in the course catalog, that just happens to be about theatre... so of course you have to write a lot!
John is the man, only good things come from knowing him. Yes, if you're lazy and not interested in challenging yourself, don't take his classes. I'm sure he won't miss you.
really makes the subject intresting. great teacher. great guy.
Easy teacher but sometimes I can't see how his head can stay on his shoulders due to his enourmous ego.
He's not egotistical he's in theatre!! He really is a cool guy... don't take him so seriously, he's probably joking most of the time. I really liked his class, the conversations were interesting and entertaining all at the same time
He's fun, and cares a lot about what he does. But he doesn't suffer fools gladly, so if you're taking this class for an easy A think again. He's a great guy, though. He he's dynamic, moves kind of fast, so sometimes you feel like you're in slow motion. Has a minor obsession with "The Crucible", but that's OK.
He's a great teacher, who lets you express yourself and is just a fun guy, if you want a teacher who really gets into to History take his class, BUT do be warned he expects as much from you as he gives!!!
amazing teacher. gives a lot of assignments, but they don't take long and they will basically guarentee you an 'A'. his lectures are very entertaining, go to class to get good grades on the quizzes. very great teacher.
Mr. Schultz is very nice and entertaining. He's very fast paced and it's essential that you go to class every day. Review your notes for the quizzes too. He gives A LOT of work, so dont take it as an easy elective. He gives a lot of chances for extra credit. Overall he loves what he does and he makes it fun. You'll learn a lot if you want to.
Though he gives a lot of assignments and always counts for attendence he is a very good teacher. I had some difficulties outside of school and he very understanding and worked with me even though I didn't deserve it with my lack of dedication to class. He really appreciates when students come to him if they struggle, even if all seems lost.
Mr. Schultz is absolutely awesome. He enjoys teaching this class, and it really shows. He makes the lectures extremely enjoyable for everyone. He's a bit of an attendance nazi, but in return he really makes you want to go to class. Watch out for the research paper though. Work on it as soon as you know who you're doing, or else you'll regret it!
Schultz is great! He loves his subject. He dosn't expect miracles, just effort. He WILL give you great tips. As long as you go to class most of the time and try to do what he is telling you, you will pass. The class is a lot of fun, and pretty laid back.
John was an amazing teacher. I was privelaged enough to work with him outside of the classroom, through the theatre dept., as well as in the classtoom. He loves what he does, and is a very understanding guy. I suggest to take his class if you can. HE ROCKS!
Schultz is my hero. I'm a slacker and never went to class in the Spring, failed, but still felt I had to sign up again in the summer. He'll discuss things that are way beyond the textbook, things that you would never imagine a teacher talking about. Come to class on the first day wearing a home-made fallace outside of your clothes, trust me.
Mr. Schultz is a great teacher! FYI, he is going to pull up this website on the first day of class and brag about his good standings. But seriously, he is an interesting, caring teacher who obviously is doing what he loves. He has a lot of small assignments, but they make an easy A if you're dedicated. Take this class- you won't regret it!
JOHN IS GREAT!!!! HE MADE MY DECISION TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL AFTER TWO YEARS WELL WORTH IT!!!TAKE NOTES, ATTEND CLASS, PARTICIPATE, DO THE EXTRA CREDIT...IT'S FOR YOUR BENEFIT AND ENJOY YOURSELF. YOU WON'T REGRET IT, TRUST ME;-)THANKS JOHN
he was an awesome teacher!! his lectures were actually fun and interesting! i would totally recommend him. and hes not too bad on the eyes either!! =] take his class!
Johnny is an amazing teacher. His lectures draw you in and keep you awake in class. He is understanding to problems outside of class and will work with you if you need help. But dont mistake his kindness for weakness or he might beat you with a home made fallace.
Schultz is one of the best teachers at TCC. I didn't want class to end. He made a 55 minute class seem like it was 20. lots of little assignments, none of which take more than an hour, and in my class we had no tests and the final was evaluative. I wish he would make a Theater History II just so I could take him again!!! great job John!! :D :D :D
Wow!!! What to say about Schultz... To start, he is the one of the best techers I have ever had! He made the class extremely fun and interesting!! I learned a ton of stuff and I want to take him again!!! If you want a really fun and funny teacher, take him!! You will not regret it! Good job schultz, and I know you are reading this. haha!!
John is awesome. He has a tendancy to forget your name in the beginning ;-), but he eventually gets it right. His class was very interesting, and his sense of humor is great. If he gives a public speaking seminar, TAKE IT. I never wanted class to end! There is plenty of homework, so stay on top of things. He is a Just grader, so no BSing.
John is awesome. His lectures are really interesting, he really loves what he does and it makes me like learning about it. The book is used for study guides, and he does take attendance. If you go to class and do what he says, though, you're guaranteed to make an A. He really helps you learn how to write a good paper too. Plus, he's hot!
Any class Schultz teaches is worth taking. He's the kindof instructor who actually cares about his students and helping them learn. I took both Theatre History and Parli. Debate from him and both courses were interesting and fun. He's one of the most fair and understanding teachers I've had. If you come to class and do your work, you'll do fine.
Fantastic teacher the kind of teacher you want because he does care about the subject he is teaching. Did use all the books that he has on the syllabus (But don?t worry he breaks down the stories after the test) Does focus on Greek and Rome, but it is the back bone of theatre. In the end remember Persians, Hermae, Plato, Bohemian Rhapsody, etc?
His class is fun. It does involve some book work and there is a big paper at the end of the class but he helps you, step by step, along the way. He is nice and super funny. Plus, he looks like he could be a Baldwin brother. Super cute!!!
No tests! There is a quiz every class and a big paper but he helps you every step of the way. Awesome lectures told like stories, SUPER funny! Acts like one of the students sometimes. Really helpful and laid back. Attendance is mandatory but you'll find yourself exciting about going! Awesome teacher- take him for sure!
Really funny and....hot! haha- great class
He makes going to class easy cause he's so dreamy to look at!!! Really cute with a great smile & great voice. The class is easy if u go & do the work to the best of ur ability. If u want a fun class taught by a cutie than his class is for u!!! a really great class!!!
Awesome teacher!! So laid back. Has short quizzes a few times a week on the notes, so take good ones. Uses all the books on the syllabus. Loves what he teaches and is incredibly laid back. There is one paper due at the end of the semester, but he helps you step by step. The final exam is literally just what you liked about the class. TAKE HIM!!!
Schultzy, it's Tristen. i can't believe you actually show your classes your profile on here. what can i really say though, looks like your numbers speak for themselves!
This class is one of the best that I have taken ever! Plus, I hate theatre (no offense). John is awesome and truly cares about what he teaches. Simply put, JUST DO YOU WORK and go to class and you will succeed.
Great class, great teacher. He is one of the best teachers I?ve had at TCC. He is passionate about what he teaches and is expressed in his lectures. He keeps his lectures fun and up to beat as much as possible. His class is pretty straight forward, just do the work as best as you can and your pretty well set.
Class is not hard, but there is so much work it's not even funny. He piles quizzes and things that are due on the same day, so don't think he will cut the class any slack. There's always something due! Class is not an easy elective because there are so many assignments. (His teachings are pretty liberal as well.)
I wouldn't be on the road to my dreams if it weren't for John Schultz. Take his class! You couldn't find a more entertaining person to teach this class. He connects BC times to Modern times with ease. Opens your mind to how much theater has changed and yet still very the same over 1000s of years. OH, and if he wants you to join Forensics, DO IT!
ORGANIZATION is key to passing this class. Try not to fall behind with the work because there's only more and MORE coming your way. You can turn in assignments late but there's so much you don;t want to leave it for the last minute. He cancels class often but is very engaged when he lectures. THERE'S NO FINAL, but alot of reading and writing.
Haha, and you got a chili pepper too, that's rich...
Chill guy. Only people who'll have a hard time in his class are those who act intentionally rude or disrespectful.
This is by far the best teacher I have ever had! The subject matter is challenging but he puts your mind at ease bec/ he assigns videos that help connect the dots and has great course layout. I would highly suggest this class/teacher to anyone in need of a humanities credit. He tries to help you and even assigns excredit. Schultz is the bomb!
GREAT teacher!! Lectures are actually interesting, there are quite a few quizes but there are on the lectures and pretty easy. I would definately reccomend him. Best teached I have had at TCC so far; and he is definately more than a teacher. He tries to help you in any way he possibly can and he is passionate about teaching. TAKE HIM!
His presentation style is a perfect example of the presentation style he knows works best for his students. Schultz practices what he preaches: a subtle yet effective style of getting your message across. Take his debate class or his theatre class.
I was in his Introduction to theatre history for Humanties. Take him please!!! He is the best professor ever! 10 quizzes, 2 to 3 response papers on plays you read. And 4 play quizzes, and see a play for his class and one major paper that it. Down fall though makes fun of religion mostly the Cathlioc faith but don't think he means anything by it
Unless you are planning on humanities or theater as a major, skip this class. Interesting lectures but the workload is enormous!
Took his online class, it was manageable but there is a lot of writing involved. Not an "easy A", you will work for it! He is a nice enough guy and pretty funny, sometimes took a while to get grades back to us but did drop an assignment at the end of the semester so it was all good. This class is interesting but will take a lot of your time.
welcome to the best class ever. If he bragging about himself right now, it's because he has every right to. He's AWESOME. Fantastic lectures, cares about his students, and loves what he does. He's one of those teachers that learns your name, and you will never look at the clock while in his class. Wish I could still take more of his classes!Enjoy!!
Took him for his THE2100 class this fall. For the record, I had zero interest in theater prior to this class. His lectures are so entertaining and engaging that's it's hard to dislike the material. The class has one major paper that he holds your hand through. Quizzes are announced in advance. If you attend class you'll get at least a B.
THE BEST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD!!! I loved this class! There was some work but he made it fun and gave you time in class to work together. Never got bored in his class and wish I could have him for more classes! The BEST teacher with the best attitude and made the material interesting. Has quizes regularly so attend class but its fun to go anyway.
Best teacher I've ever had! Hands down. Fun lectures, very passionate, extremely helpful. He does a great job of explaining what is required of you. Yes, it is a lot of work, but if you stay on top of it, YOU WILL GET AN A!
Great teacher. I'm terrible with attendence and I actually wanted to go to class regardless of hangovers. Work isnt too hard. The paper and project are fun. If it isnt too late sign up for parli. I took both in the same semester and loved it. Actually enjoys what he's teaching and that reflects onto the class.
Seriously one of the best teachers I've ever had. He's the ideal person to be in this profession. It is such a fun class to take, and he really maintains your interest. I can't recommend him enough.
I DID NOT like this class. Mr.S may be super hyped up to teach, but this just annoyed me. And doesn't deter from that fact that you can't follow him. He makes you do the HATED group projects. The class is full of tedious work, that isn’t hard to do. Although time consuming. He says you need the books but I used the one in the LC and managed an A.
Mixed feelings about the class.I enjoyed the lectures, but the quizzes and study guides are pointless busy work. The paper the class is built around has too much weight attached to it and can be overwhelming. He is nice, and you get the feeling that he really likes what he's doing and is more than happy to help you.Overall good class to take.
Great teacher! He absolutely loves what he does and it shows. The lectures are entertaining and can be really funny. The only thing I have to warn about is that this course does require a good deal of work. Still, I'd highly recommend this class, especially if you enjoy terrible jokes.
Mr. Schultz was a great professor. His lectures are very entertaining and he is clear about what information you need to know. You do study guides for each chapter, three 500 word essays that are clearly outlined, and a 1500 word research paper that he guides you through the entire time. GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS. HE WILL HELP YOU WITH ANYTHING.
Awesome professor, great intrest in the subject matter. has no problems telling bad jokes and demenstrating meaning behind ideas. Was my favorite class during this semester. Mr. Schultz is a fair and honest professor who just strives everyone to do well in the class.
Awesome teacher, I was kind of distracted by him looking and talking and acting almost exactly like Chandler (Matthew Perry) from Friends. Like some other scholar on here mentioned this class is not only bearable, but somewhat enjoyable when attended with a hangover.
HEAVY WITH BUSY WORK! If you want a class with just tests and papers avoid this class at all cost. Schultz may be a great orator but that is the only real benefit of enrolling in his THE class. Take him if you miss high school homework because your wish will surely be granted.
Schultz makes very boring topics fun because of his passion for theater. You will certainly be entertained. HOWEVER, when he is reading you this review on the first day of his class, just know... You have A LOT of written work ahead of you. Just crank out the busy work though and you'll do fine.
This professor is probably one of the best teachers i have ever had. So much that i want to take another class that he teaches. He made me care about this super important subject way more than i previously did. He makes the class fun and helpful. Also makes the best jokes! Not too bad to look at for an hour and fifteen either.
Two words, Direct Democracy.
Best teacher, hands down! Short quizzes throughout the semester, but NO FINAL! There is a group project, and you have to go see at least on TCC theater performance (totally cool), and always opportunity for extra credit. One final paper that we work on in steps throughout the semester. Bit of a procrastinator, so that helps when you are too!
This professor is amazing! Had such a fun class with him, learned how to publicly speak. He gives great feed back, he will give you an A if you try. He is the s***!!! take him
Great teacher and will definitely help you but LOTS OF WORK INVOLVED! I took this as an elective and big mistake. The class and material was interesting but there was so much written work that had to be done I had to turn in a study guide or paper outline almost every class. If you're looking for an easy elective don't take this class
Professor Schultz's classes were so fun to take! He had people from his like improve club come in a lot and preform skits and it was really cool! Never a dull moment. He makes jokes and has a heavy hand for curving test/quizzes. Would take him again for sure!!
One of the best teachers i've had. his classes are super entertaining makes you wanna attend all of them. Helps you out a lot. no test only quizzes and no final just a super simple group project. amazing guy!!!
Absolutely loved this class! He makes his lectures so entertaining, that you will actually enjoy attending his class. He doesn't believe in big cumulative test, just lecture quizzes, homework, and literature quizzes! He makes you do a group project at the end of the semester, but it isn't complicated at all! 10 out of 10 would recommend :)
I thoroughly enjoyed this course with John guiding my introduction to Theatre. Grab this one as it is a real blast!
I'll take that Chandler Bing review and raise you Brian DArcy James, for you theatre people. John is one of the best teachers I've had in my entire academic career. He's funny and pretty laid back, but the course is challenging enough that it isn't a waste of time. He's pretty lenient with due dates and there are several extra credit opportunities.
He is one of the best professors I have taken!
First off he is an amazing professor. Don't sleep on him, TAKE HIS CLASS. If you don't mind writing a little bit extra you can't fail his class. More extra credit than I think is legal. lol. Loved his class and he is hilarious. Great friendly class environment and extremely fair. Very good feedback too.
Amazing Professor!! He gives feedback to every assignment, lectures are never boring. The best part about this class was the group projects. He made sure every Friday their was a guest speaker.
Schultz was an amazing professor. He manages to deliver his lectures in an hilariously interesting manner. I'm impressed with his teaching ethics - he is more than willing to help you as a student if you're willing to put forth the effort. Even if you're not huge on Theatre, he presents it in a way where you WILL find it fascinating!
John Schultz was one of the best professors I've ever had a TCC. He gave us so much resources and extra credit to make sure we did well in his class. I learned a lot and so happy I chose his class. I would recommend anybody to his class, I didnt know anything about theatre but he helped me understand the importance of it. Fyi I took an online class
I took the class online, with no interest in Theatre, but I needed 2 Humanities. I took the class in a short wk Express Session span of time. So, it seemed like a lot of papers ( 6 ) but maybe not so many over a regular semester time span. I never made under 100 on them. He gives so many chances for extra credit points.I would take him again
if you are looking for a easy humanities class, this is the class for you. i took him online and every quiz is easy. you have unlimited time and retakes. as long as you complete detailed work, you will pass with a b at worst. the only way you fail is zero effort
John is one of the best professors I've had at TCC. He worked with me when I had health issues and wants you to be successful. He gives so much extra credit its almost too much, but hey who doesn't like easy extra credit. His class is very entertaining and he makes taking the dreaded humanities class so much better! Take him for THE2100!
Lots of time consuming work, but great teacher that gives you the ability to re-submit for better grades... IF you originally submit on time. Responds quickly to emails and is helpful and points you in the correct direction when help is needed . Would recommend to all all. Took on-line
Professor Schultz is very easy for humanities to take him in the summer and just get the class over with. 6 papers one every week and a final all about 500 words each you will need the textbook for his homework. He is a very easy grader if you do everything the way he asks you should finish with an A
There are 1-2 quizzes and study guides due every week. You will have to read and write an essay on 3 plays, but it is not as bad as you think. He gives lots of extra credit. If you do the extra credit and all the assignments it would be hard not to get an 'A'.
Professor Schultz is a great professor. He gives so much extra credit based on the quality of the work. There is a lot of writing involved, but if you read the textbook you'll be okay. He makes the class easy and fun.
Mr. Schultz was my favorite teacher this semester, actually. He's enthusiastic about the material, funny, and provides lots of opportunities for extra credit! He's a good grader, and as long as you follow his instructions you can get above A's on many of the assignments, provided you put time and effort in to go a bit more above and beyond.
I took this class online. No tests or exams and extra chances to take quizzes. Lots of writing, reading, and watching plays. I enjoyed this class and I learned a lot. Mr Schultz gives lots of extra credit on almost on every project and is always there if you need help. This is the class to take, and the teacher, if you need it.
Professor Schultz was a really good teacher. I am not really into theatre, but the class was still easy. He is really clear grading wise and offers up to 7 extra credit points for discussion posts. I would definitely take him again, my class was online and so I would email a lot, and he would always answer within 24 hours.
Basically writing an essay each week on limited material in the textbook, the guy didn't grade any assignments for a month. Feels more like busy work than learning. Lots of extra credit opportunity. Honestly look at an easier humanities class if you can, but the online options are limited so unless you love psychology take this one instead.
John is the most laid-back teacher you will ever have. As long as you come to class you will get an A. His classes were always so funny and sometimes the class would spend the entire time just talking and vibing.
So I took this class because of his reviews on here and they're true ! He's an amazing teacher and with all of this going on with Corona , he let everyone turn in late assignments and gave out A's. He has amazing Dad jokes and NO FINAL EXAM ! Take his class. You won't regret it. I had a 67% before school went online and ended up with a 97%!
John Schults is hands down the best professor at TCC. He's nice, hilarious, relatable, and insanely smart. You can tell he loves what he does and cares for all of the students. Take any class with him and you will not regret it. 10/10.
Honestly, I hated this course with a passion because I have 0 interest in theatre. However this professor is a great one. Despite the course, he has a clear grading criteria, and is very laxed about due dates. I had a low C in his course at the end of the semester, and he helped me get it to an A in a week. I submitted most assignments late btw.
I took it online maybe this is why it made it more difficult. Many dropped this class because of all the work he gave. We were given 7+ assignments a week, he was laid back on turning in things late. He has a weird grading thing and when we asked for further explanation, he would say to look at a video he posted which was useless.
Everything is graded very harshly. you were able to redo things if you got a low grading but it was still very difficult
Professor Schultz is fantastic! I have not even finished his class yet but had to give this review. He is so relaxed and gives lots of grace. He also gives ample opportunity for extra credit. Wish he was my professor for every class lol.
Legit the worst professor I've had at TCC, made me hate theatre more than I already did.
