I had him Dr. Sherman for the organic part of the course, and he is really clear in his explanation and that was good. Compared to the other O-Chem profs, I think Sherman oversimplifies the tough material and doesn't go into each topic in depth. Although he does care about his students, other chem123 OCHEM profs like Stewart have virtual office hours and seem a lot more approachable. I had to go to another prof's lecture to understand the material. Not recommended.

May just be his teaching style? It's really hard to follow in class and the quizzes sometimes goes beyond course material so average is often 50%. Took me a lot of time watching other prof's lectures to catch up for midterms and final. I would still give him some credit though for hosting many extra office hours before midterms and finals.

I have a friend in 3rd-year o-chem and we found out that some of the quiz questions are from the 3rd-year o-chem worksheet. No wonder why our section has the lowest average. Also, learning on your own or watching recordings from jay is wayyyy better than going to lectures because Sherman explains the concepts in a very complex and confusing way.

I liked him. I followed the examples he gave during the lectures and did pretty well in the course. He can get off track at times.
