Seems hard and unreasonable at first, but such an amazing teacher. He helps so much and his tests are fairly easy. If you pay attention, you'll at least get a C+/B. This is my 2nd time taking 107 and he is by far the best out of the whole department. He takes attendance everyday. Never have quizzes, and 2 midterms and a final. Take him over anyone!

Zig is a wonderful professor! Always willing to go the extra mile to have all the students understand the material. Homework due every wednesday, 2 tests and a final, paper, attendance/participation. If you need to take MATH107, TAKE HIM! Extremely nice and eager for all students become the best teachers they can be!

Zig, as he likes us to call him, is one of my favorite professors so far at JMU. He makes you look at math totally differently. Sometimes let's you watch videos of real students and is very teaching-focused. If you evr need help, he's open to e-mails and office hours. Really nice! Sometimes irritable in his e-mails, though. Great class!

Zig's a great professor. The 108 material is sometimes hard to see, but he's always got activities planned and is available as a resource. Weekly homeworks, project, and 4 exams. Definitely do the homework and email if you've got questions.

Zig has been one of my favorite professors at JMU. The math classes are difficult in general, but Zig is ALWAYS willing to help you. He will always answer questions via email and is extremely helpful during office hours. Tests can be tricky because he wants to challenge you, but if you study and do the homework you will be fine. Highly recommend!

As a person, Zig is wonderful. He's silly, nice, and overall a cool person. His classes are hard though. He tries to be as helpful as possible. Always go to him if you don't understand something and take advantage of the student assistants. There is weekly homework,a couple group projects and 4 exams.

Zig is a wonderful professor. The coursework in 107 and 108 is difficult regardless of who you have. He does challenge you A LOT however after taking his class I feel confident in what I learned and my ability to explain it/ teach it. If you want an easy A don't take him. If you want to be a good teacher I couldn't think of anyone better.

Zig is honestly the best person to teach math 107. The class is hard on its own but Zig tries his hardest to make sure you know what you are doing. He has multiple office hours and he is always available by email. He can be very sarcastic and he likes to joke around, but he is never malicious about anything. I highly HIGHLY recommend Zig for 107.

Really nice guy. He can tell when you are putting in work. Is absolutely available with tons of hours are easy to talk to. Easily my best professor I have ever had. The homework is brutal, but if you pay attention and set aside time to do it, its possible. The homework makes the tests easy too. Awesome prof. would recommend to IDLS majors :)

IDLS math sucks in general, but Zig is by far the best math professor! I may have gotten a C+ in his class, but I got an F the first time I took 108, so that's major improvement! Go to his office hours, do the homework, & go to the study sessions and you will pass. Not to mention, he is so freaking hilarious. He makes math class (almost) enjoyable.

He's really harsh when it comes to grading but he really wants to help. He gives so many opportunities for you to get help from him. Take him because you will learn a lot.

I LOVE Zig. I am not a math person - but I have an A. He's a hard professor but I have learned so much. He has really made me excited to teach and inspires me to work hard on my homework because it will help me prepare to be a teacher. The homeworks require a lot of time and they are hard, but they prepared me for the exams so much. Take him!!

Zig is a great teacher if you can understand his sense of humor. Make sure you explain yourself on all homework and use the resources (office hours and his email) and he is happy to help you. Make sure you go to class because what you learn in class is super beneficial and there is an attendance policy.

Zig is honestly an amazing professor and one of the best I've had at JMU. He doesn't hold your hand through the course but he also gives you very beneficial feedback and a great amount of availability outside of class to meet with him. Honestly so worth taking his class

I have always had horrible experiences in math classes and this was the first math class where I felt like the professor actually cared about my well being. Zig was SO helpful if you go to his office hours especially before submitting a homework assignment and always makes himself available to meet whenever he can.

Zig is an awesome guy who cares and loves to teach. Lots of homework that is graded for accuracy and tests that have trick questions (this was honestly really frustrating). He does a good job explaining things in class, but sometimes I was annoyed because we would spend a ton of time in class on a concept that wouldn't even show up on the test.

Zig is one of my favorite professors at JMU. He is so caring and willing to help everyone. There is a homework assignment due every week which is super long, but well worth it because it helped my understanding. 3 tests that were fair and not too bad. TAKE HIM. He is honestly the best. If it wasn't for the BST, I would probably have an A.

While Zig's homework do take a long time to do, he gives you a whole week. They also help with learning the material. He is the best professor for 107 by far! He's always willing to help outside of class and he truly cares about his students. He doesn't try to trick you on tests. he tells you exactly whats on them.

Professor Siegfried was honestly one of my favorite math professors that I've taken at JMU. I've taken 107 twice, and I felt like I was able to understand it the best with him. Make sure you pay attention to his lessons, what he expects, EXPLAIN the homework, and detail your work!!

I LOVED Zig. Highly recommend him to all future teachers. His passion for both mathematics and the growth of children's minds is truly awe inspiring. Don't let his grading scare you, its only to weed out people who don't want to teach. Just do the work, never be late, ask questions and go in for help! You won't regret taking his class!

GO TO OFFICE HOURS!! I'm not the type to talk to my professors, but his office hours are extremely helpful and he always has candy. If you don't understand how to explain something, he will work with you to get to a point where it makes sense. Don't let the other reviews scare you, he is an amazing professor who is super passionate about teaching.

Zig is a very hard professor but worth taking, he just wants to make sure you're ready to be a teacher. TONS of homework but manageable; GO TO STUDENT ASSISTANTS AND OFFICE HOURS AT LEAST TWICE A WEEK!! homework requires very specific explanations and he grades pretty tough but I have learned so much about math and different ways to teach students

Zig is a tough grader, but he is an amazing teacher. I have seriously learned so much in his class. I've learned to change the way I think about math. Now, you're going to have to work for your grade in this class, and try really hard. Go to office hours and go to student assistants. Do not let your grade get too low before you can fix it.

Zig is a very hard professor, however he does know a lot, and expects a lot from you. This was not an easy class, however he does tell you what you need to do in order to do well. I got a B+ in the class and I went to every PASS session, and was always at the student assistants, but they really do help! LOTS OF HW, and the tests are hard.

Overall, I loved Zig's class. He teaches in a very hands on activity based style that made going to class very interesting and fun. Homework was not easy and there is a lot of it but it really helps you learn the material and he is VERY available to answer questions in office hours, emails, etc and answers emails like 5 minutes after you send them.

do not pay attention to the bad reviews. yes he makes you work for it but Zig is a GREAT professor. you'll be overwhelmed by the amount of homework but USE THE RESOURCES AVAILABLE TO YOU (office hours, student assistants, pass sessions). definitely take him, he is just preparing you for your own classroom!

I LOVE ZIG, had him for 107 &108 and im devastated he won't be teaching 207. Most people hate him but if you put in the effort you will thrive in his class. lots of hw and it really pushes you but if you start early and go to the student assistants you will be fine! learned so much and have gotten the more out of his courses then any other one

Before taking him, I saw not good reviews. Going into 207 after having him for 107 and 108, I'm so sad I won't be taking him this semester. The best math professor I've ever had. He makes you work hard for your grade and his homework can be tough, but it's so rewarding at the end to still know everything he's taught. Will forever be my fav prof.

There is a lot of homework, but a week to do it which is really nice. He gives lots of help for the class and makes class SUPER interactive which is nice. Tough grader, but you learn from it. Would highly recommend, I'm taking him again next semester in Math 108!

I get all A's and this is my only B I have ever received in college. His class is hard, he knows it. His grading is weird, he knows it. And yet he won't change his ways. He is super nice though and one of the most available and caring professors I've ever had. He is passionate and kind, his class is just hard and you have to be prepared for that.

Math110 at jmu is notoriously hard & i failed w a diff prof, but Zig taught me so much (Grade A)! Challenging and tutoring every week is ESSENTIAL to passing. Lots of hw, super critical but it teaches u sm and makes tests easy. No quizzes, easy readings, super approachable and funny. Best option for a class most fail at jmu. Cares most about kids!

110 is known for being a hard class, but Zig made it as easy as possible. Yes, the content can be a bit hard, but he is great at explaining in class and is always available to help through email or office hours! His homework are long, but honestly not too bad once you get the hang of it. Theres not a better prof for 110, so take him!

When I first started this class, I did not care for Zig much. He was so hard on us and our homework grades. But, after a couple weeks I could understand what he was looking for on the homework and the exams. I grew to love him and he really is a genuine person. He's only hard on his students so they are better teachers! Plus, he's a Swiftie!!

Zig is definitely an acquired taste, be prepared for a lot of sarcasm. I failed his class the first time and took him again this semester, I can say he is one of the best professors I've had. He requires a lot of HW but it will really help with learning the stuff for the class. He really cares about making sure you will be great teachers for kids

Zig is my favorite professor! I feel as though I have learned so much about teaching and math in this course! Zig is a very kind and caring professor! He response to emails very quickly and if you go to office hours you will succeed in the classroom, Zig is very slay and I 100% encourage you to take Zig for Math 110. :)

Zig was the best teacher i ever had but homework was soo annoying. if you just pay attention to what he's saying and get the routine you'll pass the class. it will take you a while to understand what he's asking for but slowly you'll get it

Honestly one of the funniest profs I've ever had, but his class was really difficult. HW is due at 12pm on Friday's and had an extensive amount of questions. The tests were super hard to understand and made my grade go down every time even though I had a good homework grade. If you want a good grade pay attention. This class is not easy.

Zig is a great professor. He is very sarcastic but its all in jokes. He really does care about your grade and is really helpful. One of the best professors I have had. Tests are not hard if you show up to class and do the homework. He has your best interest at heart. 10/10 recommend!!!

Took math210! His class is TOUGH but I learned a lot. He is great at answering emails and really recognizes the work his students put into the class. He is a bit sarcastic, which not everybody is a huge fan of. Personally I didn't mind It because he lets us joke back.

He has long homework's, but he often uses problems from these homework's on exams. He has an interesting sense of humor but once you catch onto it he's very funny. Talks a little fast but if you tell him to take a breath and slow down he will. He cares about your future and you as a person, if your having issues just talk to him.

I just started my 2nd year teaching and thought of Zig today in my planning meeting. Every day, I use at least one of the games/strategies I learned in his class in my own classroom.He continues to help me with planning, though I graduated. In the moment, his assignments were tedious, but if it weren't for Zig, I wouldn't be the teacher I am today.

Zig is a super approachable guy; anyone who rates him low didn't put in enough effort or is salty about their grade. Just go to class and ask questions, you will be fine. Zig is the kind of professor who lays out his expectations. You know exactly what to expect on the test BECAUSE HE TELLS YOU THE CLASS BEFORE! Anyone rating poorly is mad because they didn't try in the class. The homework was not fun, and they were very time-consuming, so beware. Pass sessions are extremely helpful, so go to them!

Very nice professor and had him for 110 and 210. Attendance is mandatory as well. Definitely a hard class, so pay attention. Lots of homework and go to his office hours or tutoring! He is a very strict and picky grader so be aware of that. Exams are hard as well. Very accessible outside of class and truly cares for his students. I would recommend!
