Incredible lectures, Sitton is just a good guy. Anyone with a chance should take his class. I often wonder why he teaches in this university.

Sitton is an extremely intelligent man as well as an amazing lecturer. He has inspired me to become a political science major. His classes are a joy to attend and I'm sad that the semester, and my American Politics class, is over.

Gives you a study guide with the whole test on it. Extra credit I got 102% for the class. May learn something if you want, but you don't need to learn to get an A.

Among the finest professors IUP has to offer. His ability to theorize and philospohize are like none other. He has published numerous articles and highly respected monographs. A true gem for the university.

I actually keep a list of quotes he said in class. I dragged over to his 3-hour night class just to listen to him talk. Who knew politics could be so entertaining. Its my major now, and I plan on taking him as much as possible.

Sitton is an amazing lecturer and a brilliant political scientist. He really keeps everyone's attention, even through long long classes. Stop by his office some time to discuss Marxism and he will love you forever. Also, he's a snappy dresser.

Don't be ready for a fun clas for his clasical politcal thought. Be ready for some honors college kdis and grad students pretending they know everything and him talkign about his famous friends...the class sucks!

Not interesting for everyone, but if you enjoy the topics you'll like his class. He's smart and doesn't show bias. For you slackers he has no attendance policy. Make sure you get his study guides and do the extra credit.

Great American Politics prof. Gives extra credit for attending events around campus. He told our class that he saw the Dead Kennedys in concert. Not too many profs are that hip. Good guy too.

Probably the best professor that I have ever had. He challenges you, yet also gives you the tools that you need to succeed. You are crazy if you don't take one of his theory classes.

A great class overall, perhaps taught by the best professor that IUP has to offer. Even as a staunch conservatitive my views are respected, and never before has that happend in a class full of liberals. Take the class at all costs.

Easy class, easy tests...

Great speaker and very interesting. All he has is three tests and as long as you fill out your study guide your sure to get an A. I learned a lot from him and would recommend him to anyone even if you are not interested in the subject.

This guy is the best! Not only does he crack me up with his cigarette addiction and hippy stories, but I learned more than in any other class. Take this class and actually GO! Even though the tests are easy enough not to. He is a wealth of knowledge!

Excellent Professor! Gives you a study guide for every test you'll have (3 of 'em). Know the study guide for tests, and you're golden. No attendance policy, you only have to show up for tests, but you'll definitely do alot better on the tests if you go. It's a pretty decent class.

He doesn't need an attendence policy. He's so interesting that you WANT to go to class.

He is simply "striking". "No Kidding". This guy is a riot. He's an excellent professor and he makes sure we keep up to date on whats going on in the political world. The quotes above are things he always says..it's great..lol He laughs at his own jokes all the time. lol Take him. It's easy.

Although he is an extreme liberal, he tries to give both sides and respectfully listens to conservative sides of all arguments. Very interesting class to attend even though its not mandatory.

He is a prof who really wants to teach and have his students learn. He respects that his students have lives outside of his class and just tries to provide them with as much knowledge as possible. You don't have to go to class but you will want to. I wish I made more of mine.

Really easy. Gives study guides to tell you exactly whats on tests. Dont even bother getting the texts because you dont look at either of them once. Nice, funny, guy. will answer questions if you ask. only problem is letting students argue about stuff for half the class. take him if you can

I went into this class not knowing anything or even caring about politics, but I left quite the opposite. He is an amazing teacher, and as long as you study a little, you should get an A. His study guides are amazing. Take him!!

VERY intelligent and knowledgeable - but doesn't talk down to you at all. He respects your intelligence. His lectures are made interesting - moreso if you're already interested in politics. Class is easy - because you really do learn it in the first place.

Funny, interesting, knowledgable. Grading is only based on tests, but they are easy ones. You can't help but pay attention to this one!

Interesting man who has done a lot. Grades are based on 3 tests, since this is a writing inten. course they need to be 7-10 pages. A lil hard to do since he asks only 2 or 3 quest. Must go to class b/c u need to take daily notes for the tests. Also,get both books b/c he likes u to quote from them

Intelligent, interesting, and caring man. Graded on only 3 papers. Grades reasonably. Lectures can be long if you do not try to participate in the conversation. Very respectful towards students. Recommended.

What a great prof! He really made me appreciate politics and I got a LOT out of this class. Class discussions are very interesting and he respects everyone's opinions, whether he agrees or not. He also gives great study guides for the tests. I highly recommend taking one of his classes if you can!!

Great professor and great class. Easy A too. Attendance isn't mandatory, but I went anyway because the lectures and discussions were interesting. There are only 3 tests and each of them come with a very helpful study guide the class before. I highly recommend Dr. Sitton!

Subject matter expert that encourages open debate in class. Allows you to think for yourself and discover your own conclusions. An effective speaker that can really draw you in to the class subject matter for the day.

A good "teacher" who gives a very good understanding of the not just the subject, but also the context of the subject. Good guy, too.

American Political Thought. EXCELLENT CLASS. Extremely interesting and organized notes. The entire class seems to be a very orchestrated political speech but you're learning. Although he is ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT he entertains ANY and ALL questions and philosophizes them on the spot. I was absolutely amazed. He also realizes students have lives outside of his class; interested in how you are synthesizing the material. If you have the opportunity TAKE HIM!

i had absolutely no interest in political science before taking this class, but he makes it interesting and he's actually pretty entertaining. as long as you take good notes, the tests are pretty easy. i love this guy, he's great!

I second that Dr. Sitton is the God of political science. I wish he taught every Political Science course at IUP. I would take them all. He is that good. Grades very fairly. Anyone who says his classes are hard is a moron and should drop out of college immeadiately.

Good morning class..he does not take attendance. 3 Papers were your grade.. You dont have to read any of the books to get a good grade, just take good notes. Great guy-great stories.

This man is a pure champ, he knew his stuff and more. He brought up events in todays politics to make you interested. i recommend this class.

I took Dr. Sitton for every class he teaches. He is hands down one of the best professors in the buisness. He is intelligent, personable, and fair. He is the personification of education and university learning. I hope he spends many more years teaching and inspiring many more yough students to take an interest in their government.

Sitton is the man...gives out study guide right before each test to help you. If you pay attention and go to the classes you'll breeze through the class with a 'B'

Easily one of the best, if not the best, professors I've ever had. I went from IUP to an ivy league and no one here even compares. He makes all topics interesting. Knows how to relate political theory to football. Extremely kind and brilliant. TAKE HIM or you will regret it forever. Easily best professor IUP has.

Gives out studyguides before the test which are very helpful (and useful). Also, has a sense of humor. I would definitally recommend him for any political science course. Only negative is that he doesn't curve grades.

I go to class just to see him pace back and forth and then stand on his tippy toes when he gets excited about an issue. ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSORS ON CAMPUS! I actually learned something!

I was really glad to see all the positive comments, because Dr. Sitton is my favorite professor on this campus. This is my second class with him, and he is he reason why I'm a polisci major. Take all his classes if you can!

Absolute, hands-down, best prof at IUP. Incredibly smart and very gifted in teaching. Just go to class, open your notebook and let the knowledge wash over you. Write down all the sidenotes he mentions - those thinkers and books are good reads.

This guy is an absoulute champ. And I only had him for his basic American Politics class. He is hands down the best professor I had, he makes learning fun. He wants you to come to class, because he loves what he does every day. Offers excellent insight. I can't wait to work with him, when I begin the meat of my political science degree. The best.

Dr. Sitton's classes are a lot of fun to go to. It is straight forward stuff, and your only graded on 3 papers/exams depending if your class is a writing intensive course. This is my second class with him, and nobody here compares to how good and prepared Dr. Sitton is. You will want to go to this class, based on his teaching. Class act as well!!

Everything said is true. Dr. Sitton is not only brilliant, but down to earth and funny. He's a great moderator when it comes to class discussion. The interaction makes for a very quick class, as it is not only informative, but interesting, no matter what field you are in. He's a person you wouldn't mind being seated by on a long flight. LOL

This is a man I would love to have a beer with. The class I took was so boring to me, yet I found myself fully engaged and disappointed at the end of each. As you can see, everyone has great words. Make sure to take at least one class from him before you leave IUP. Make no mistake, his classes aren't easy, but you have no problem doing the work.

Dr Sitton was my advidsor when i first came to IUP in 1991, and he intimated the heck out of me, I later returned at 28 to finish my BA in Poli Sci, I took all 3 of his theory courses. He is a wonderful professor who takes some of the hardest theories and makes them easily comprehensible. He uses the Socratric method and is a truly inspiring prof!

I took Dr. Sitton for 360, 361, 362, and 281. In each, he was a brilliant man who is so deeply passionate about the subject that it is inspiring to you as the student. He uses the Socratic method in class and is a great discussion moderator and if you take notes on what he says to write the paper you don't even need to read the books. Best IUP has.

I took Dr. Sitton for every single class he teaches. I even took 2 of his classes the same semester.He is by far the best, knowledgeable professor I've ever had. He will make anything you have to say seem relevant and interesting. He grades his papers very fairly, and he respects your intelligence. Also the classiest professor I've ever took.

best professor ive had so far! He knows what he's talking about. I swore i hated poli sci with a burning passion until i took one of his classes. Now, im thinking about minoring in it. Hes extremely laid back, funny, nice, and he really admires those who work and go to school. Favorite professor by far.

I took every class he teaches and loved every single one. Without a doubt the best professor at IUP. He's really worked hard to be where he is today and respects students who are trying to do the same. I never wanted to skip a class. Discussions are lively and encouraged. Really made me realize my love for political theory.

I only attended IUP for my freshman year than transferred to a school in FL. I had Sitton for American Politics and he is the reason I am a politics major now, getting inducted in to Pi Sigma Alpha (the political science honor society) and doing great things with my degree. He was the only reason I was upset leaving IUP.

Dr. Sitton is the man. I tried to go to class as much as possible. Even when you miss, he'll help you get caught up. Just a great guy, loves helping others get to the top, and an interesting class. 3 papers all year, which are your only grades. He takes the average of the 3 papers, so if you like your grade after 2, you don't need the final paper

He is a great professor. No tests just 3, 7-10 page essays throughout the semester. Would and will take him again. GREAT PROFESSOR!
