awesome teacher. Tells you up front all he cares about is that you feel and think about what you're reading. lets you go when he thinks your losing interest in discussion. He's also the real deal, google him sometime. the guy walks the walk. Talk in class be creative with the papers show him you care and you got an A

cool guy but his papers come back with more red ink than printer ink. And his assignments are hard and weird. Doesn't give the usual BS papers. But he lets you rewrite til ur happy with the grade. Tells you up front he *likes* to fail anyone who doesn't mind failing. He's easy to impress. Be creative with his papers he'll think ur brilliant.

Had us cast a short story as if it was a movie. Half the class got a C. Then one kid got an A plus because he only used character's from the WWE in his movie. I don't know what to make of this guy. He's nice and funny but also weird and very dark. I have know idea what im suppose to be learning.

Have him for creative writing. Knows his sh*t backwardsandforwards and actually publishes his work. You can tell he's trying to be nice, but he obviously gets bored with some student writing and just lets it pass. You can't really blame him for tha. It's a good class, you learn alot but don't take it if your not interested in short stories.

Awesome teacher. Makes you work for it but the work can be fun. He clearly likes certain students more than others(girls). Just a warning; he swears and has no patients for stupid, lazy studensts. Totally unfair. I'm complaining about him. Failed people for not turning in papers even tho they passed the final. Your not supposed to do that. If you can pass the final you pass the class. Don't take him unluss you want do to ALL the work.

I agree with someone else,definitely keep up with the reading. He's awesome and I became a way better writer from him. But he gives a ton of reading, three novels in one semester, plus the grammar and papper stuff. If you don't keep up with the reading he will leave you behind.

Loved this class. Love him. Changed my major becuase of it. Watch out though. He's the most ditsy teacher ever. Totally up to you to keep track of EVERYTHING.

First of all if you are girl, you can stare at him all day. Just looking at him makes this class worth it. Secondly, he's amazing. He got me to beleive in myself and in my ideas. No one ever did that before. I transferedd and never found any one as good.

Took him after dropping another professors 102 class. Got an A in his. It's all in the way he teaches it. Makes you look at the world & makes you want him to think your smart. I agree with the others. If you don't care about class he doesn't care about you. That's too bad. Read about him or get him to talk...amazing man! Amazing life!

I transferred last year and mentioned him to my currant advisor and she totally knew who he was. I love that. totally didn't know what I had when I had him. Better than anyone at UMass.

I agree with most of the comments. I enjoyed this class very much! But if you miss 4 or 5 classes you ultimately fail, which is why I withdrew. If you know you have to miss a few classes before beginning this course, do not take it. Other than that he is a great guy. And hot :D

At first i was a little skeptical of his class, but as the semester went on, i LOVED it! He makes English enjoyable and fun while making you think in a different way. The more creative you are the better. I would definitely take him again!

He was a very good professor who made what he wanted on his essays clear. The readings were interesting and even the poetry was decent. Take him if you don't mind your grade being all essays, great guy.

I want to be John when I grow up. He'll be the most helpful professor you have if you ask questions. You learn mechanical stuff in class, but to get the most out of him you have to ask questions. Also, like someone said, if you like old lady teachers, he's not for you. You'll hear "you have no balls" quite a bit. Great guy, great teacher.

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!. John makes you look at the world like you have never done before. hes brilliant, intelligent and makes you want to bring out the best in yourself. He just wants you to succeed. Dont take his class if your shy. Hes fun, talkative, inspiring and just a role model

He is a pragmatist. If you cant handle a professor telling you the truth about what he thinks of your writing, dont take this class. That being said, his inability to sugar coat his criticism forces you to learn how to write correctly.

Awesome class! The syllabus says 50% of the grade is participation, but really its just doing the reading. Like like 10 people failed at midterms. When they complained he said it was too obvious they hadn't read anything. They could even argue cause he was right. Really funny. I mean, come on people IT'S AN ENGLISH CLASS. One story a class

John is an awesome professor.. not only does he have a sense of humor, but he's a great professor and an intelligent one at that. If I needed help on an assignment, John was there to clarify what I was having confusion about. Participation is worth 50% along with 4 papers that equal 50%. Do the reading and you will do well. I loved the class!

This course is all about what you put into it. The readings are required if your looking to pass his course. The discussions about the readings keep you coming back for more. John is by far one of the most amazing people I have ever met. If you have to take ENG 102, hands down this professor is the one to take it with.

I am currently in his class and had only 4 professors at QCC. He is by far one of the best English professor I have had. He is a lot better than the High School English teachers that I had. Not a bad professor at all. I love his class.

I am definitely a little obsessed with John. First off, he's beautiful (but married :/ haha). But seriously, I highly recommend taking a class with him; he'll change your life. I have learned a lot about how to not only write, but think as well. If you are of the lazy type and really do not feel like doing the work he assigns, it will be your loss.

English is not my favorite subject, but Professor Stazinski made it my favorite class this past semester. He has a unique style of teaching that really gets you thinking critically, on more than the english language. I hope to have him again.

Hands down, this professor is one of the best. His English 102 syllabus relies heavily on reading and class discussion. Each story is tied into the next in theme for each section of syllabus making for an insightful class with substance. Enjoyed reading just about every work he assigned, and the class discussions that followed.

I can't express how amazing it was to take his class. He is funny, makes class fun, and explains all the readings, and assignments. You can tell he loves what he does. This class was very rewarding. I took so much away from his class. He's down to earth and understands if your late on assignments.

Chillest professor i've ever had. This guy could have been a standup comedian with his wit. He is down to earth and also very smart. It is impossible to win a debate if he is on the other side. He is quick on his feet and very entertaining. I never missed a class even though it was my first block. He isn't afraid to talk about his personal life.

One of the best professors I have ever had, I've taken him twice now and would again if I needed more humanities. One of the most down to earth professors you'll ever get to learn from. He really knows his stuff and has a passion for his subject. Show him respect, put in a little effort and you'll learn a ton all while walking away with an A.

This has to be my favorite professor of all time. I have never met a professor quite like John Stazinski; he is mysterious, smart, and knows what the hell he is doing. I have been writing stories and poetry ever since I could hold a pen, and it's nice to have a professor who has an interest in strengthening you as a writer. I love him.

John Is one of the best professors I have ever had. He respects his students and expects the same back. He has taught me so much about writing, and will challenge you if he thinks you are up for the task. Because of him I will seek to take the Common Wealth Honors program next fall. He taught me how to work hard and how not to be afraid of failure.

He made class very fun and enjoyable. His essays were not very difficult. Just do the readings and you will pass.

My absolute favorite professor to this day. Very interesting, real, and modern lectures. Kind and respectful to students. Provided good feedback on essays and didn't give tests or quizzes for this course. If you have to take English Comp I or II, take it with him.

Awesome teacher, I learned more in my one semester of English then I did in my 4 years of highschool. Also he let me turn in everything VERY late for full credit. He will raise your grade if you attend class regularly- at least for my summer class he did. I have always hated english class throughout my whole life, but I LOVED this class!

Incredible professor. Very funny, helpful, and not your traditional english professor! Papers were interesting to write, and FUN. This is not a joke, for the first time I really looked forward to the coursework of papers.. flexible and gives real feedback on work that is constructive. Prints course material so no book.

Professor Stazinski is a great English teacher. The only way you would find his class overly difficult is if writing papers isn't your thing. Grade was 4 papers but they weren't overly difficult. Participation and completing the assigned readings does matter.

His class was very easy, only had a few short papers, and one 5 page at the end, easy grader. Our classes were supposed to be an hour and fifteen minutes, but the latest we would stay was maybe 45 minutes. Easy A

Very good professor. He knows everything he is talking about to an expertise. Really helped me improve my fiction writing and improved my critiquing skills as well.

Class has a loose structure and he will focus on what the students are interested in or what they need. Very laid back and is flexible on due dates and topics. Lecture style is engaging and thought provoking. If you are interested in abstract thoughts and thinking outside the box this teacher is for you.

Staz is the real deal. He's pretty sarcastic--which is great. Honestly, though, he actually cares. I learned more from him than I learned in all my English classes for the past 5 years.

Personally I like to write; however, this class focuses on fictional writing which is a positive change for me, and it also is helping me with my ambition to pursue a career in the writing/English field.

HOLY amazing! I cannot say enough good things about John. First of all, it definitely helps if you actually care about English. He makes you think in ways that I didn't know was possible. I feel so lucky to have taken his class, and hope in the future I can take more of his. I wish he taught more intricate classes, he's so intelligent!

By far he is a good professor for English. Summer class was short, but I still and the whole class got their assignment done! Very well prepared!

From the perspective of a writer, and now English major he is the ideal example of what a passionate professor should be. His Superheroes class, was the first time I actually read, retained, and felt actively involved in the reading the comic as if I was "thinking in pictures." In theme with his class, he is indeed a replica of Superman.

I can remember being so nervous to take English classes, but John was so amazing. No, it is not a walk in the park. Yes, you will have to really think, and do many papers. This will be required for any English class, but this is the best one I have ever taken. John makes you really think. You leave his class wondering about the world.

A great professor that truly values whether students take something away from class. He always gives an insightful perspective on any literature discussed in class. He has the vibe of a real person that wants to show you something more than a professor looking down on you from a podium.

Stazinski is the best professor I have EVER had. He is a bit of a smartass, but he means well. My second semester and first class with him was definitely something to remember. I would take him for every course if I could. Don't try and learn from some schmuck, learn from the best.

I loved prof. Stazinski! He speaks really fast but the material can be understood well. His essays are hard but if you pay attention to the classes you should be fine. Overall, a good class to take.

He did a really good job at trying to keep the boring subjects interesting and was funny but not to that annoying point. He challenged my mind and I think a lot of other kids in the class.There was not a lot of work and everything was very clear and organized on blackboard. He was an easy grader and gave lots of time for each assignment.

John's awesome, how many professors will take the time to read over your essays for other classes? He kept things interesting with our readings, was not harsh on grading, and I feel very fortunate I got him after 10+ years out of school. He recognized he was teaching us eng 101, not something advanced. I regret not taking his honors class for 102.

Professor Staz keeps things interesting with engaging readings. He's sarcastic but genuinely cares about helping students. unstuckstudy was a great study aid alongside the course materials.
