Not my favorite teacher. Isn't the most personable guy either.
Hes different. I think the only thing he does in life is Math, math, math! He doesnt know how to interact and tests are tough.
Fun to listen to, and grading curves are awesome. Grades tests very particularly, though. I agree though, that the George + Martha equation is nuts
Laughs nervously after everything he says. The only reason I don't fall asleep in his class, is because I'm doing the homework for that day.

Goofy as hell...every test i took i had at least 1 word problem which is very hard. He wants every homework assign. turned in...Good curve but grades hard

He's a good teacher...I hate math so I didn't do well but you have to seek help from him if you need it. He won't come to you if you are stuggling.
Loves to put word problems on tests, even if he hasn't taught us how to apply the things studied. And who are George and Martha? One day he just started referring to these two people in math problems, like we're supposed to understand it.
Be warned about this teacher. He grades on a curve, but his tests are so hard, it doesn't matter much. Doesn't prepare you for what he will be testing you like.

Worst professor that I have ever had at IUP. Avoid him at all costs. Exhaust all other options before you sign up for his class. I got an A but it was hard and he is mean. Tests deal with the hardest problems that we discussed in class.

Worst teacher i have ever had. He keeps his back towards class while teaching, doesnt explain jsut does the problems. Gives amazing curves but only becuase his tests are that hard. Every problem has a trick in it on the test. Dont take this professor, he is a discrace to IUP faculty
Stay away from this Prof. He will make your semester a living hell. I learned more from a tutor in an hour that I learned from him in three weeks. He doesn't teach, he just talks. He answers your questions with more questions. He has no sympathy and could not care less if you fail.STAY AWAY FROM HIM
I was a straight A student in high school in advanced math classes & took this as a refresher course. What a mistake. I got a D and I was the kid everyone else cheated off of. WTF?? His tests make no sense. I took calc & got an A! Picks his grades out of a hat!
Pay attention and do the homework. Study for the tests and you will do fine.

Dr. Steelman is a veteran prof who seems to have a real love of math. While I can appreciate his passion for the subject I think he expected too much out of this class (the lowest level math). All of his tests left me on the brink of nervous breakdown. They were filled with little tricks and traps I couldn't handle. Do what you can to skip Math 100
Dr. Steelman is the worst professor I have ever had. Although he does teach the material fairly well, he is extremely tough on grading. HE gioves slim to none partial credit and homework does not count for anything. I would NOT reccomend this man ever!

Definitely one of my most unique professors. Very funny in class but rushes through lessons to fast, doesn't go over much homework, and doesn't grade homework or have quizzes.
worst math teacher. he will be in the middle of a lesson rant about something for about 10 minutes and then say "but you dont need to know that".. then will get irritated when you dont know it next class.

This guy does not grade homework.He gives you a formula a few examples and a lot of homework, he should spend more time explaining and practicing in class. He does not care for the students, and help is hard to find because half the class dropped and the other half is on tutoring.DO NOT PICK HIM

Worse prof I have ever had in my life. I find myself meeting random people that took him and feel the exact same way! He is so boring, gets mad at you when you ask questions, grades RIDICOUSLY hard, homework doesnt count but takes off if you dont do it...WORSE EVER! GET OUT NOW!
he's a nice guy, but he's an awful professor. his notes are confusing and he gets irritated really easily if u dont understand. the workload is heavy and it is useless bcuz the only grades are tests. but if the homework is not turned in, u get penalized. this makes no sense since u dont get points for it. if u can avoid him, do it! take dr. channa!
Horrible teacher, very hard to follow, lots of homework, poor grading scale, 4 main tests and thats it, makes jokes that aren't funny, and is very un-helpful when asked. Also, rude and doesn't seem to care at all about his students.
This guy is super confusing. You need to do the homework, which isnt worth ANY points, in order to understand at least a little bit. His tests are rediculously hard and everyone fails so he has to give outrageous curves so at least some people pass. Avoid this man at all costs! I heard Short was good and I have Channa now and he is good too.
to pass a class with steelman you have to go to class EVERYDAY, do EVERY assignment, look over "special cases" in the notes becuz he will try to trick you with them on the tests, and just study hard for the tests. this is what i did and i ended up with a B. To pass with at least a C you have to work rediculously hard. It will be worth it tho.

I've never gotten worse the a B in math in my life. I got a D in his class. Highst grade in my class was a C. Laughs when the class doesn't understand what he's teaching, give a test about ever week and a half. Never explains things you don't understand. DO NOT TAKE HIM EVER!!!!!!!
Attend all the classes and practice,practice,practice everyday besides doing his homeworks!!! That's the only way to pass his class. "mmkay, everybody satisfied.lol"

Extremely hard tests. He does grade them on curve though. Only 9 of beginning 30+ even showed to the final. Avoid!

Dr. Steelman is a math genius, too bad he doesn't realize that his students are not. He teaches like we already know what is going on, but NOBODY does! You will start with a class of 35 and by the final it will be down to 15. By the end of the semester, he curves tests by 50 points so everyone doesn't fail. Avoid if possible, if you cant, good luck
If you have this teacher RUN now while you can he is the most annoying person ever i can't stand to listen to him and he is terriable at teaching, He teaches math by writing words to explain everything and never gives examples and also he never goes over anything, and if you ask for help he laughs at you and says you should know this stuff already

Homework must be done, but he does not grade them. The only grades come from tests, which are very, very hard.
This is the worst class I have. The math covered is not very difficult but the tests are. The only grades are from tests and a final. Answers on tests must be 100% correct and concrete if you want credit. If you are solving a problem and misplace a minus sign, yet still get the correct solution, you will get the whole problem wrong (-8 to -10pts)

Honestly, he's terrible. i failed the class. The first half i kinda slacked, but even when i tried toward the second half i still got Ds and Fs on the test. He assumes his students know everything and goes through things way too fast. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!! You will fail!
he is such a hard professor! he teaches things that aren't on the test and leaves out things that are. If you dont do the problem 100% correctly (and show all work) he will mark it wrong! The only grades are tests and he makes the tests as hard as can be. Save your selves and dont i mean DO NOT take this class. You will fail

Hard to understand his teaching style, but if you do your homework you'll be fine for the tests. Pretty much your entire grade is test's, so if your a slacker, do not take this class. I'm obviously not a genius because I am in Math 100, but I could manage the class.

I honestly couldn't say worst things about Steelman. He doesn't care about you or your learning at all. He failed at least 3/4 of the kids in my class. Run as fast as you can and get out of this class. I failed and he completely screwed me over.

Professor Steelman is one of the harder instructors i've had but he is also one of the best. He wants you to figure out things for yourself and this will help you in the long run. He is weird and teaches fast but he will help if you ask and doing the homework will help on tests. Study problems from homeworks and you'll be fine. Curves all tests
im very good at math and he made math 100 hard for me. he gives homework but he doesn't give credit for it. all he gives is test and no extra credit to bring your grade up. he takes ALOT of points off if you make one little mistake. in order to pass this class, you have to pass the test. HE IS THE WORSE
Grades extremely hard. If you are good at math and can easily teach yourself I would definitely say to take him. Only 4 tests and homework is optional. I never did homework and went to class when I felt like it and passed with an A. If you are good at math it is an easy course!
Alright I know it was very basic math and to be honest math isn't my best subject but seriously this guy was extremely difficult. He offers help if you need it. He can be kind of rude expecting everybody to know the material. Homework's not mandatory and neither is attendance but you need both in order to keep up. I would try to get someone else.
So after not having math for a while I get to college and this is what I have to deal with. Extremely unclear, yeah he's probably real smart but it just didn't work for me. The material wasn't hard he just went way to fast assuming we all know how to do everything.
