He is comminly known as The Math Nazi as in The Soup Nazi from Sienfield. I have NEVER found anyone who likes him, besides himself.
A very rude man. His notes are good but his attitude sucks and he does not respect the students.
He can be a little rude - but - he does gives great notes and is very approachable during office hours. If you work hard, you shouldn't have much problems.

He will destroy you like a Math Ninja. Drop the course while you still have the chance. Trust me.
Great notes, easy to get a good grade with, as long as you do the work.
This man is so rude. He doesn't interest you at all. He doesn't care if you do well or not. He doesn't know how to teach and he gives too many unnecessary notes. He certainly doen't know how to interact with people at all!!
He's a tough professor as far as marking goes, but his notes are top notch! He can be somewhat rude, but I find that he is only rude when people make "silly" mistakes. Overall, not too bad a guy.
This guy really knows his stuff! If you go to class and do the work you will get a good mark. He gives the hardest stuff in the assignments so if you can get that then the exams and the final are a breeze. His notes are excellent!
This man is extreamly rude, ignorant and cocky!! The course material is fairly easy and his notes are really good. He mumbles when he lectures and it seems like you should know what he's teaching and you're stupid if you don't! Don't take his classes!

I understood his class but after a lot of personal effort. Would not be my first choice for a math prof.
This guy can't teach. His notes are well detailed but he offers no extra help, and he explains his lecture once, if you don't understand then it's too bad. If you answer something wrong in his class, he goes off his head and makes you feel stupid.
Doesn't give you enough time to complete the tests, even if you know the material your screwed.very impersonal, doesn't like to help anyone
one of the worst profs i have ever had! if you are in his course then get out as soon as you can
Very clear notes, easy to understand. However, this man is a bit rude. If you ask him a question, He'll treat you as if you are stupid for not knowing. This guy knows his stuff, for sure, but he could be A LOT more polite and friendly to his students.
he was very ignorant and I was afraid of him
Had this prof for 1090,2050 and 3340. One thing I can say is, "Too much Jack is not a good." His tests were long, but fair.No surprises. If you know the assignments, you'll do good. He's not the most pleasant man, which makes for very stressful
He is the worst teacher of all time. He's ignorant and will not help u with anything. On my first test with him 60 percent of the class failed and the class Avg was 42. He mark's extremely hard. I also found out that his nick name is "Crazy Jack"
A terrible Professor never ever get him!!!

Ignorant, mean, and even if you know the material inside out backwards, you will not have enough time to finish a test. If you have him, drop it, if you dont, avoid him.
"Trivial" is his favourite word, and he can't even use it in the right context. Definitely one of the most condescending people I've ever met. He's made up his own set of math rules, and if you don't learn them and live by them, then God help yo
Some words of advice: If you're in his class get out while you can!!! He gave us 18 assignments worth only 8% and his test are VERY long!! Not a good prof!

this guy knows his stuff. and unless you're willing to put in the work, drop the class. the assignments (18 total) are really good review for the test (which is long). you have to earn your grades.

anyone who gives this guy a half decent rating is on crack.. if you ever get him, get out as fast as possible..

Ok, he gives good notes. wow. That doesn't make up for how he marks at all! He's the pickiest man on the face of the planet, taking a mark off anywhere, ESPECIALLY if you don't use the right method, regardless if your answer is right or not. bad prof!
Gives really good notes and assignments. If you can do those you'll do wicked in the course. Just do everything the way he does it... the right way. He doesn't give marks for bull**** like in high school.

All I can say is brilliant but spooky!!! He spent more time yelling and condescending than teaching - but notes were fantastic!
An bitter man with nothing but contempt for his students.
He's an unfair marker (believe me when I say if you forget to put in ONE equal sign, you don't get any marks). He mumbles a lot when he talks, so it's difficult to understand him. If you want to fail stay in his class.
He's not great when you first start but once you get used to his teaching methods, he's a really great prof. Notthe best at giving help though.
A fabulous instructor, but it is impossible to finish his tests, because they are so unbelieveably long. If he's going to teach you, drop the course, unless you're Speedy Gonzales when it comes to writing tests. I give this prof an F overall.
He overall sucks ass, nothing he teaches is "trival" or "obvious".
He gives really good notes, however he isn't really that nice to students in class and his tests are way too long. It's kind of like he wants everyone to do bad!!!
I don't care what anyone says! Dr. Suvak is awesome! just do exactly what he says and you are guaranteed an A.. plus he makes his own exams which is a major plus...he is not as "trivial" as he seems...
he's only a hard marker cause he doesn't want any idiots getting in under the wire. notes were good. if u just practice and do exactly what he wants, you'll do fine!
He's probably the meanest man ever met. Just because he thinks math is easy, he thinks his students should have no problems with it. His tests are way too long. Did I mention he's is a very cold and mean man?!? He gets an F+ in my books!
Worst marker ever- Exams are brutal- don't expect to finish them. Thinks everything is "absolutely ridiculous"
The worst prof I have ever had. Do not -I REPEAT-do NOT take math from this man. He is utterly insensitive to students, a bad teacher, and just plain mean.
A terrible man. His notes are excellent, but his exams are completely unreasonable. He's bitter, does not care how students do, and loves to see a majority failure. Avoid this professor at all costs.
His notes are the bible, but I was frightened to death of the man; So, I went to his class, & registered for another class, & went to their tests. It worked out pretty good for me!! So yea; Do that! it works!!!
very cold and mean.impossible to talk to,highly insensitive to his students.Doesn't care wether the students understands or not.Won't recommend him to anyone.
Very helpful and always available.
intimidating, unapproachable, but otherwise gives great notes. very hard marker.
AVOID THIS MAN AT ALL COSTS.He's been teaching for far too long, and this has made him a sad, angry, bitter man. He is demeaning and arrogant. If you choose to solve a problem any other way you learned besides his, he will threaten to fail you.stay away
One of the best teachers i've ever had. Hardest marker but when you're done the course you know all the course material really well. Great notes.
The biggest jerk in the world. I'm getting good marks from him too so I'm not just bitter because of bad marks. He has no clue how to teach. You can't make fun of your students and call their mistakes ridiculous and then call yourself a teacher. IDIOT!!!
SATAN INCARNATEEEEEE!!!!
wow. I got 60's and 50's in your course and 90's in another prof's course. I wonder why that is. You are a horrible teacher and a poor excuse for a human being to boot. Why hasn't this man been fired?
Worst prof I've ever had...and I've had some horrible profs!...math 2050 shouldn't be a hard course...i understand all the material in class and in my notes but his assignments and tests are so unfair...stay away from this mean mean man!
I didn't like him at first, but after thinking about it...he makes sense. He is strict, anal and testy at times, but he does put students first. He gives what he expects from his students. Tests are always corrected quickly, and his notes are the best.
His way or no way, Impossible to talk to, very hard marker, he has his favorites, and everyone else he hates. I WOULDN"T RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE!!!
Should not be allowed to teach or even interact with other human beings. Awful, awful man. Do not ask him any questions unless you want to be made a fool of. If you answer something wrong he will tell you how stupid you are. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!
a very unpleasant man. refused to help people outside class, and discouraged people from asking in class. made disparaging remarks daily to class at whole and to individuals. very complete notes, though.
Biggest idiot on the face of the earth! He "obviously" doesn't like anyone! Apparently everything is "trival" and we're stupid if we ask a question... definitly dont take a class with him if you have the choice!
A tough prof for sure, but if he knows that you are dedicated to the course, he is awesome. His notes are the bible to learning math. I found that he was always happy to see me coming with questions...If you know the assignments, you will ace the tests!
Not the most approachable man (scary, actually) but his notes are the best!!! If you want to pass Math 1000, get Suvak's notes and study them!!!
A very rude and bitter man. Downright evil at times. Good notes though.
Seemed to be very condescending at first, but turned out to be a good prof. He is a hard marker but his notes more than make up for it. Know the assignments and you'll be fine for the tests. Know your Math 1090 material!!!
First year students run away fast. He is so rude. He will make you hate math at memorial.
He is condescending at times, but he does what he's there for: teaching math. He also takes a LOT of marks away for minor mistakes. His notes were generally very well done. A previous knowledge of algebra and trig is necessary.
If you really want to learn something, choose him. Always eager to answer your questions, plus excellent notes. I didn't find him hard to get along with at all. Harsh outside but nice inside. But be careful, he IS a hard marker.
This man is the worst professor at mun
Avoid Black Jack at all costs. He clearly was never loved and therefore hates the world and wants to punish whoever he can. He is rude, condescending and completely unapproachable. His tests are impossible to finish on time. He wants to fail you.
Evil, but good notes.
He is a crazy jack-ass. He is very condescending, makes you feel stupid when you ask questions, his tests are hard to finish, let alone pass! Avoid at all costs!
he hates 1st year students more than he hates graphing calculators. run away... run far, far away!
A terrible prof AND a terrible person. Bar none the worst prof I have seen in my nine years of university. Would rather see weaker students drop the course than bother taking time to help them. No regards for his emotional impact on students. BEWARE!
Suvak is an awesome math teacher. He is helpful and gives really good straightforward notes!
if you can, never ever ever ever take this man for a course. I don't know why the university keeps him around, at least at thye first year level.
great notes and thats it, don't ever take a course with him or you will regret it.
RUN AWAY!!!!!!!! he's scary to approach, makes you feel dumb when you are wrong when speaking up in class, his tests are impossible to finish on time (let along pass), he makes his own final (not good)... his notes are awesome but not worth having him as a prof!
This man really hates his students... the material in this course isn't hard., but he makes the tests way too long. You will have time to finish the final, and if you show him you know the stuff when given enough time, you will get a good mark from him. But i wouldn't reccomend him to anyone.

a very rude and unhelpful man.
He comes across as an **** at first but he is a very helpful and approachable man. I did have a small class so maybe he was a little bit more helpful in this case, but his notes are clear and if you put in the time and effort it doesn't go unnoticed. Overall decent, misunderstood prof.
Worst prof I've ever had. Period
Get out while you can....A select few can do the course with him and do well...nothing against him but all students want to do well and your chances for a better mark and understanding are better with a different prof...
One of the best math teachers I have every had. Great notes. Alot of assignments but if you do them they pay off. Great final exam.
What's with all the Suvak hating? He's one of the best profs I've ever had. Very easy to understand, very helpful. Just do your work and DO IT RIGHT.
I just love this prof! He is much more willing to help than you thought. Do the work and go see him when you need, and you'll have no problem at all.
A very rude man. Forget about askin him somethin in class, he'll pretty much say your stupid. Do not take this course with him. Hands out**** load of assignments and marks very hard. Test are really long and almost impossible to finish.
Ok at teaching, excellent notes although extremely rude. everything really hard so he doesn't really give you any fair marks I am 100% confident if I had another prof my mark would ahve been 20% higher I scored no less than 90% in any math course at MUN and in his class had a 65 going into final.
Suvak never gets tired of writing. It's hard to understand the material when all you have time to do is write what's on the board... Lots of notes. Sometimes he's rude. The assignments are crazy, and the Exams are too long...He even acknowledges it! CRAZY! Enough said.
Had him for Math 1000 and thought he was very rude and arrogant. I've changed my mind. Still not the most personable, but if you go to class and work hard, he's very willing to help you out. Actually a little humourous, if you can bring it out in him. I really loved doing this course with him! Wish now I had taken him for 2320-Goodaire sucked!
He was very picky, almost obsessive...but his lectures and assignments do prepare you for what you need to know! If you dont mind a lot of work (tests/assignments are ALWAYS long) and an intimidating personality then you'll do fine!! I actually gained respect for him over time, even after he scared the crap outta me in my first semester...YIKES!!
ahhh suvak's not that bad. a tad weird but he's a great prof. as long as you're a serious student you're laughing. i wouldn't recommend him for <2000 courses though.
Ignore the people who liked this man: they're probably math geeks. RUN. RUN. RUN. I am an A student, and i got a 60 in this course with him. HARD MARKER, RUDE, AND HIS TESTS ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO FINISH. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE. GET ANOTHER PROF TO TEACH YOU, OR YOU WILL REGRET IT. THIS MAN SHOULD BE FIRED.
had him for 1090 and said he was the worst you could imagine, for pure math courses he seems completely different, I still wouldn't try and spark a conversation with him though.
Knows his stuff. Is willing to help but won't give u the answer
Suvak is the only Prof. to do 2320 with. He prepares you BY FAR more than any other prof who teaches the course. If you're going to do a PM3000+ course, do 2320 with him. He's tough. DO the work and know it inside out. But if you don't do 2320 with him, GOOD LUCK in any of 3320,3330,3340,3370,etc.
I really think this man gets an undeserved rap. He does excellent notes. He marks his own assignments, and actually gives you feedback on them, not just checks and x's. He'll make it perfectly clear what will be on any evaluation. Do the assignments, do them again before tests and exams, and you're set. Excellent preparation for higher courses.
Very hard marker, tests are somewhat long, he doesn't teach anything, he gives you notes and you have to learn it yourself. Wouldn't recommend him for math 1001
I've heard this guy is a major jerk but he hasn't shown much of it this term. His notes are very good and his assignments are representative of the tests. If you can do all the questions on the assignments, you can get A's with ease. I would recommend him as long as you aren't too sensitive to him being mean most of the time.
Don't listen to these people they are just as crazy as him. The man is rude and makes people feel stupid. But he does know what hes talking about but shouldn't not be a teacher he doesnt like people. Dont give him the benifit of the doubt either, get out while u can!
Not bad as a teacher, his tests aren't brutal if you are prepared, assignments can be long and tricky. Sometimes gets angry at students for little things which can be intimidating.

Jack Suvak is a HOBBIBLE prof. He tends to forget that we are students, and that we don't know how to do the material that is "trivial" in his opinion. He notes are ok, but the questions on assignments and tests are NOTHING LIKE IN THE NOTES but much harder! He shows little patience, making rude comments to people! AVOID SUVAK LIKE THE PLAGUE!!
I thought he was one of the best profs I have had in my three years here. He can be a dick, however, his notes are really clear and easy to follow, his assignments are sometimes long and difficult, but the tests are EASY right from the assignments. I would definately recommend him for this course to anyone else.
Easily the worst prof I've ever had. Loves to put students down.
He is a HORRIBLE Prof, verrrry hard marker, don't expect half marks! Talks down to you expects you to have allready known all the material...at least thats how he talks to you when you ask a question.
aka "Math Nazi"
Biggest jerk ever! Hes def the worst prof don't care about students at all just himself and him going on and on in class about how much he knows and how much we don't..
Those who say he gives no feedback or doesn't care are morons, without a doubt. His notes are very good, if you're having trouble, go to him and he will help you! He can't help if you don't ask. The below reviewer described teaching! What do you expect Suvak to do, pass you for doing no work? Some people obviously failed and want "revenge."
Despite his reputation, Suvak is an incredible prof. His notes are very organized and concise, he tells you exactly what you need to know, and he's very prompt at correcting tests and assignments. His feedback is very useful (though I admit it sometimes seems mean-hearted.) He obviously cares very much about his job. I highly recommend him.
Suvak is one fo the best profs, I don't get his bad rep!
First of all; he is the only math prof who grades all his assignments. There are detailed answer keys given out IN CLASS after all assignments and tests as well. His notes are excellent, and he is willing to help if you make the effort. Tests are hard, but that is the nature of the coure, it will help on the final. He has about an 80% pass rate! :)
I thought he was great! His notes were easy to follow, and the assignments were helpful. He was there for the lab section of the course to help with assignments every week. Also, the tests resembled the assignments, so they weren't too bad at all.
i'm not a fan, he was very rude to me when i asked for help. his assignments get longer and longer all the time, yet they are worth hardly anything in the course. his tests are ridiculously hard as well, and somewhat resemble his assigments, but theres always a twist to them. his notes are clear, but not enough examples. not really a great prof.
Gives excellent notes and expects a lot from his students. Advisable to sit in the front of his class and attend often. Very tough grader but is usually fair. If you pay attention and work hard his course is definately passable.
Taught me 2320 and 3340. One of the best profs in the department. He's tough, but if you put work into your assignments then you will have no trouble. Tests and Final resemble assignments. My favorite math prof I've had in my degree!
His class is really good, except that it's hard to ask questions in class - He is a bit intimidating. He is very organized with assignments, which he grades himself and takes time with. The notes are great and easy to follow. Tests are similar to assignments, so if you know the assignments well, the tests are pretty easy.
I can understand why people would find this man rude HOWEVER he was so incredably helpful. Whenever we had problems we could always go and check and ask. He would always make sure that we understood when we left his office. I think a lot of people are kind of put off by him but if you just ask then he will try his best to deliver (ie:sample final).
His notes were great but he got frustrated and annoyed if you didn't understand something. Not very helpful in tutorials at all.
He is an ok prof but he grades exams brutally!
He's very rude and when asking him a question he makes you feel like an idiot. Don't ever ask for the solutions if you didn't past in your assignment and don't ever ask him if you can pass your assignment in late cause he will yell at you. Also write really small, so you can't see his writing until your in the 1st 3 rows or so.
he can be rude and intimidating and i was always afraid to ask him a question because of this but i would totally recommend him! He may write really small but his notes are really good and clear. His tests are just like his assignements. He gives you the solutions for the assignments. He marks really hard but in the end he preps you for the final.
Suvak lives up to his awful reputation. Very rude and condescending, comments on assignments/tests utterly inappropriate. Teaches math in essay form and is incredibly difficult to understand. His failure rate is one of the highest in the university. Those who give positive reviews here are likely math lovers/majors. AVOID AVOID AVOID this prof!!
Don't listen to this hate. Dude is a quality teacher, notes are best kind, and he is way helpful if you want to go have a chat. He marks a little rough, but he makes sure you do things right. If you heed his advice you'll do fine. He explains things very thoroughly. Highly recommended.
Dr. Suvak is an amazing prof. He's pretty rough around the edges, but he teaches incredibly well. He grades a little on the tough side, but his comments on the assignments make you recognize your mistakes. I would love to take another one of his classes.
This man hates the world and everyone in it. AVOID. So rude. Makes remarks that are uncalled for. Has a 80% fail rate. What is he still a teacher? Hard marker. Writes small and mumbles so you can't hear or see anything. Not approachable. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!
Great Notes, marking scheme's and teaching methods terrible
He teaches well, but this man is probably the worst prof I've ever had. He's incredibly rude, and has an insane marking scheme. Partial marks are rarely an option, it's all or none. Rude comments on assignments leave me discouraged. Finished 1000 with 80, and high school math with 98, but as of right now, I have a 22 in his class.Avoid at all costs
This guy is hilarious. I get 100% on an assign and the word "ridiculous" is written all over it. You could even see it imprinted in the pages where he wrote it on someone elses page on top of mine (he writes hard apparently). I did this class with Ou and gave up. I did it with Suvak and did great. He's good, better then ou, but not the friendliest.
Good notes
Dr. Suvak is a man who is not afraid of saying what he wants to say. If you do something that is stupid in his eyes, he will say it is stupid. That being said, his notes are extremely clear and his tests are exactly like his assignments. It's easy to do well in the course but if you don't feel like being condescended, don't take Suvak.
Ahh, what to say about Suvak... his comments are hilarious (yes, rude, but funny!). He's awful when it comes to marking you on assignments and midterms... but I do think he eases up during the final because I did AMAZING considering the fact that I didn't study for the final ;)
Suvak was amazing. Great notes and really did a good job teaching. Sometimes what he says has to be taken with a grain of salt, but he really does want everyone in his class to get good marks. That said he was a very tough marker. I got a 93% on a midterm but I didn't have one wrong answer
Please avoid getting this teacher. He marks soooo hard and everything needs to be done his way. I came out of highschool with a 100 average in advanced grade 12 (3205) and a 99 in pre-calc. (3207) and failed his course. People always say dont blame it on the teacher but this time you seriously can.
He is not a great man by no means.. notes or attitude. He made a girl cry in class because she passed in her math assignment before class rather than after class! Whatever is on his mind he will say! He writes crazy notes on your assignments as well if you get something wrong! He doesn't even pass out a CEQ at the last class!
Hard prof. but if you do the assignments and attend class you should pass. He gives amazing notes far excedes the books. He writes horrible things on your assignments when you make mistakes such as "this is ridiculous". I enjoy the fact he doesn't send it to a TA to mark. This also pinpoints your error. If you can take the rath he is the best!
this guy must hate university students! its the only explanation. hes extremely annoying to isten too and when students dont answer questions right away he says "reeeeee toughy" he gets mad at the WHOLE class when alot of people skip. im always surprised when someone has the guts to talk to him. his notes are realy good though
Horrible professor. His notes were confusing, his attitude was snobbish and his marks were completley unfair. I don't recomend this professor and I hope to God I don't have him again. He gives out way too many assignments and the examples he gives you to during class are wrong. I don't know anyone in my class this term who found him helpful.
Great teacher with great notes. However, I'm pretty sure he loves to fail people. Wrong answer, he doesn't look at your workings, just calls you stupid on paper. Get the answer right he tears it apart. I came out of AP math (math 1000) with a 96 and with a 5/5 on the AP exam(harder than 1000 exam) going into final with 52. AVOID WITH ALL COST!!!!!!
He had excellent notes in class but went over material way to quickly. All i could accomplish in class was to write the notes which were helpful but when it came to the assignments i was clueless and help in the labs was a must. Felt he was not approachable and marked really hard. would not recommend to anyone.
Academic sadist. Rude to students. Arrogant. Exams are so long most of my friends and I were never able to finish them. Somehow got away with creating his own exam for the final. I was a 90's student in AP math and finished the course with a 60. Got a 90 in math 1001 with a different prof. Great notes, sure, but it won't help you pass. Avoid him!!
BEST PROF EVER. Gives amazing notes with lots of examples plus a weekly assignment to boost marks. Test questions were exactly like those from assignments so there were no surprises. He seemed concerned with how students were doing.. I can't believe these other reviews are about the same person. DEFINITELY try and get Dr. Suvak for 1st year math.
Suvak gives good notes, and his assignments are just like his tests, he uses the same format every year. He is arrogant though, I heard he stapled an A&W application to someone's test when they failed.
Quality teacher. His notes were fine if you don't get hand cramps easily. His personality is a little rough but that just made the class more entertaining. People who complain about getting x% lower just because they had him marking their assignments/tests just aren't able to do the material or wont put the effort into it. He gave me a 98%.
Did a course like this in highschool, and although I'm not a math genius...I pulled off a 70. Took his course and lets just say, I was FAR from passing. The man is rude, arrogant, and has no social skills whatsoever. He almost always went over class time, which made others late for other classes. Would NEVER recommend him for ANYTHING.
great prof. Was my favorite prof that I had so far, his notes were very good, and tests and assignments were fair. at the labs he was very helpful. defiantly recomended.
The comments so far do not do justice to this man's lack of personality. He bordered on abusive to our class. If you tried to leave, even after class was over, he'd stop class and threaten you until you sat back down. If you are a math genious you'll do fine if you have any trouble at all, you'll bomb. He's so crazy!!!! Worst prof in MUN
I wouldn't call him approachable, and he goes over class time frequently. I've had worse but I wouldn't take another class with him or recommend him unless last resort.
I had him before and thought he was alright enough but he is just a terrible person. He also marks far too harshly during the term. While this is to "prepare you" for the final, it "prepares" your final mark quite a bit which is still 40% of the course. His marking is at times illogical.
I think he is an okay prof. His notes and lectures were really good. I also went to his office a couple of times to get help on assignments and he explained things really well. The problem with him is that he is a really hard marker, you have to do everything perfect and use his methods.
Suvak loves to write "this is ridiculous" all over assignments (even if you get above 90). Although he's a harsh man at his best he gives great notes and prepares you for the final.
I thought he was fantastic. Very arrogant, and not approachable. If you get to know him, all of that changes fast. He likes when students have an interest. Hard marker, but I finished the course with a 95, writing a 96 on the final. He prepares you very well, and if you put in the effort and do the assignments, 90's with him are easy to achieve.
Really cares about students & want them to do well! Is a VERY hard marker and doesn't consider other methods. It's useless to buy the book because if you don't do it his way you'll get a 0. He's approachable, but he has no tolerance for people who don't attend his classes. Avoid if you struggle with Math or can't learn material at a very fast pace.
I assume the bad ratings here are from people who are not serious about doing any work. Suvak is a great prof, very organized and clear. If you are serious about attending class and doing your assignments, you won't have any problems with him. He's a really nice guy to talk to as well.
Great Prof and makes it really easy to ge a good mark in this course. Much better then the last prof i had for math. Assignements were very fair and followed the notes perfectly. Highly recommend
Best math prof I've had, went from failing the course with someone else to an 80!
He is TOUGH he is a hard marker, he is strict. But he is one of the best math professors I've had. He is very funny, and he really does prepare you for the final. If you go to class, do your assignments and actually study then you shouldn't have a problem with him as a prof. The exams have nothing unseen.
Best math professor I've ever had. In all my other math courses I was lucky to scrape a 65, with Suvak I got a 75. Gives EXCELLENT notes. Really prepares you for the final exam. I wish all professors were like him. Just because he doesn't try to be everyone's best friend he's not liked. Need a good work ethic for his courses.
Amazing professor. He is really helpful during his office hours. Talks & writes pretty quick during lectures but as long as you can keep up, the notes are really helpful. He covers a lot of different examples which is very helpful to have when reviewing for midterms/final. Wish I could have him for all my math courses.
Writes extremely small and goes through the material very quickly. Very condescending and tells students when they have done a certain technique one hundred times they will be able to do it in their heads like him and therefore skips many many steps that he does "in his head." Not encouraging as a prof and is rude to his students. Avoid if you can.
really a good prof. His notes very organized and helpful, very clear show the students what you need to learn and study for the course. He is only my favorite math prof at MUN, he is really patient to the student. He is so nice. I love him
He is born for teaching math, his notes are organized, clear and helpful, he is also very patient for the students, teach students do the assignments in the lab. One of my favorite prof at MUN. Take his course, he will let you improve your math in a higher level.
One of the top math profs at mun. Really clear with notes, and gives many examples. Assignments are fair and reflect the course material. Tests are basically the same material as assignments with no tricks. He makes you very prepared for the final exam. Just remember to do everything his way.
I like his style. Haven't met any prof who works as hard as he does - giving assignments means marking them. And he always gives your marked assignment back the next day. I find him a better prof than many profs.
I had to make sure I got Suvak for 1000 too! He has great notes. He really wants his students to do well. His tests are very fair and his assignments completely prepare you for them. Had I worked harder, I would have gotten an A easily. The prof can only do so much. Sayin this, he's a little rough around the edges. He can be rude but he means well!
Best Math Prof EVER! This man lives for math. He corrects all his own assignments and tests and you get them back right away. He has high standards, but so should you, and he expects you to come to class and do your assigned work. The way he lays the course out is brilliant. If you want to do well, and you have Jack Suvak, you are a very lucky.
Suvak is an acquired taste, however if you plan on attending class and doing his assignments, you will be successful. Math is one of my worst subjects, however Suvak makes the math possible for most students.
Honestly. Worse teacher I ever had in over 4 years at university. He was mean, delighted in failing students (smiled with glee when telling us 60% of the class failed the second midterm). He docked me marks because he didnt like the way I wrote my fractions, etc.. got a 52%. I retook with another prof and got an 89...
Terrible skips a lot of workings and will not help you with a question that will take two seconds and just says go to the help centre
He is a good teacher, but he is a very very hard marker. If you don't do things exactly his way/method he will take off a lot of marks.
Suvak is a oldschool. He marks very hard and will take off as many marks as he can for poor math technique, but at the same time it shapes style of equating complex problems. His lecture notes are great and he is exciting to listen to. His downfall is he will mark you very harshly and this will affect your grade in the course.
He thinks we know the math so then he skips a lot of steps which is terrible and hard marker.
Great Teacher, but marks VERY hard. Better off getting another teacher if you think you will find this course hard. That way you will have a better mark going into the final, which will probably give you a better mark overall.
Suvak knows his stuff. He lives and breathes math. He gives very clear notes with plenty of examples. His assignments are a reflection of your notes and the term tests are a reflection of the assignments. Prepares you well, but REALLY hard marker. If your willing to put in the work, Suvak will for sure give you all the tools you need to do well.
Class is confusing and fast. I think Dr. Suvak prefers taking points off more than giving students partial points. I don't recommend him if you have problems with math. Although I think tht Dr. Suvak personally enjoys crapping on other people's dreams, I'm sure that he knows some intense math just from observing how he teaches
To say Suvak is a harsh marker is and understatement. I lost points for everything he could possibly think off. If your reading these comments and are thinking too yourself that he wont be that bad, your wrong. I thought that too until I got my midterm grade back.I got a 20% with Suvak and then retook the course with another prof and got an 80%.
He is a good prof. I've gotten so much out of his lectures and I've gotten 90's & 100's on practically everything. He can come across as a tad harsh but he is passionate about his job and he is happy when he can see that students actually try to learn. Easily 8.5/10 stars (~9/10 stars) for him.
Avoid at ALL costs. He has a poor attitude, rude to students & will find any way to dock marks.
I really like his way of teaching, he is great prof and his notes are great have all the materials that you need and very useful. He is respect to students for sure. love him
One of the hardest markers you will ever encounter. You'll lose marks for the sake of losing marks, even if you have the right answer, you'll get zero with a different method. Having said that his classes were very organized, well put together, and he knows what he is talking about. If you're willing to put in the effort you MIGHT just pass.
He is a very tough grader, loves taking marks off for no reason, like not stapling assignments or writing on both sides of the paper (not kidding). He doesnt have D2l so the notes arent online. He does yell if you say the wrong answer. He gives 1-2 assignments a week, i would say overall, i would avoid him.
He doesn't use the textbook so you need to attend to get his notes. You get an assignment every couple of days as well. Tough grader on these assignments and tests so the math help centre will become your new home if you take this course. He is not very nice most of the time and embarrasses students in front of everyone. I'd avoid him if its doable
Average at teaching math. Bellow average at having a soul.
Clear lectures. Tough Grader. Assignments are often difficult but prepare you well. I would recommend doing a rough copy of them first then a good copy as Dr. Suvak is a very tough marker. He teaches the most efficient method mathematically and forces you to use it. This is good in the long run. Writes the final exam.. so your well prepared
He is a little tough, but does it to make you understand Calculus is do-able, but not for the faint-of-heart. Favorite Prof by far!
Dr. Suvak is amazing for anyone who actually wants to learn math properly.
Dr. Suvak can explain things in one sentence, while some other professors would speak a lot to explain a simple thing. Dr. Suvak is a wonderful professor for students who want to study pure math.
He always cuts marks if u don t do the maths in his method you cant take help from books or or other math sources he is a tough grader he skips maths that he thinks we knew that In a words he is totally a bad teache
READ THIS CAREFULLY. IF YOU ARE NOT SERIOUS ABOUT MATH OR HAVE NO RESPECT FOR THE RIGOUR AND PRACTICE THAT GOES INTO IT, DO NOT DO NOT! TAKE HIM. With that out of the way, Jack Suvak is by far the greatest math professor known to the university. An absolute bombshell of knowledge; he really knows his stuff. Follow his way and you'll pass.
AVOID!!! Most rude prof I've ever had in my years at Mun, doesn't help you at all and makes you feel stupid if you ask questions during class. Gives an assignment honestly every two or three days and towards the middle of the semester they get really long and tough. Takes away so many marks on test if your workings aren't exactly like his.
Very straight edge but very clear. His assignments are tough but put in the work and you will be rewarded. He is very good at explaining concepts and ideas but he is pretty strict. Good for this type of subject material.
The guy knows what he's talking about and expects you to as well, before he lectures.
Rude, not helpful. He doesn't seem to care how students do, made me cry after class because he was so rude. Would not recommend
I have never failed anything in my life until I came to this class. He is very degrading and treats 1050 students like they are less, and that we are not important. We are working hard for our degree and he do not understand that. Ask him for help and you will not receive that. He also gets very worked up very easy, and he gets very mad.
Found his way of teaching really simple. He writes out full examples with solution on the board and goes through every step of the way. Beauty. But he grades hard, even for math.
Dr. Suvak is an amazing professor. I was hesitant to take him as a prof as I heard he was a very hard grader (and trust me he is) but by doing this he helps you do math the correct way. He provides so many great examples in class and his midterms are VERY fair (he takes most of the questions from previous assignments). Take him for Math 1001!!!
If you show up to class, take notes, and do the assignments, this course is very easy to do good in. He gives great examples and shows you step by step how to do them. Although there are A LOT of homework assignments, they help you for the midterms as well as the final because the questions are almost the same. I would definitely recommend him.
Dr. Suvak is very clear and his notes are very well organized. He does plenty of examples making it easier to complete the assignments, although they are lengthy. His midterms are very based on the assignments. He is a bit of a tough marker, however he's a great prof and I would definitely take a course with him again.
Tough marker, and hard midterms but prepares you well for the final exam. Notes are well organizes and easy to follow and understand.
I love this guy
Dr. Suvak is a great Math prof. His notes are clear and very helpful for assignments. Assignments prepare you for the midterms, sometimes even using the same questions. He gives you an extra 10% on assignments if passed in early. Dr. Suvak can be gritty but overall he knows what he is doing. The notes are detailed and very helpful.
Do not take him if you dont have to. The worst mistake I ever made was switching to his class. If your answer isnt exactly like his solution sheet then youre wrong. By far the worst learning experience Ive had
Easily one of the worst instructors I've come across. Seems to take joy in informing students about their failures and won't refrain from berating you for your mistakes on assignments. If you want a prof who will make you feel worthless, his class is for you! Even with a person with a great grasp on Math 1000 will be left stranded and confused.
He presumes student's know it all. He might be good with content but poor with teaching.
Writes his notes on the board so attendance is mandatory. Assignments can be long but they are helpful. Posts sample midterms that are very similar to the real ones. The course is fairly easy so if you do any bit of work it should be fine.
Writes all of his notes on the board and does not post any to D2L. His grading scheme for assignments is confusing (marks everything out of 10 even if there are over 10 questions). One good thing is that the practice exams he posts on D2L are pretty much identical to the exam you'll get in class.
Gives an extra 10% on early assignments, teaches material in a very straightforward and organized manner. Really good notes that helped complete assignments and prepares you well for the final exam.
You can buy the course notes, meaning you dont need to attend the class because it is very boring and dry. Tough grader, marks you wrong if your workings arent exactly the same as his but the practice exams he posts on d2l are the exact same as the ones youll take.
Good Enough!
Has excellent notes and posts old tests and exams for studying. You also get an extra 10% on assignments passed in early and feedback on assignments and tests are great as well. He can be a tough grader however and can give lots of assignments but overall he is a good choice.
Would strongly recommend taking this course with him for above average math students. His notes are perfect and classes can be quite entertaining with the way he carries on. Overall, he's not that tough of a grader like most people say. Just use his notation and use brackets appropriately and you'll do fine. PS: Do old tests before the real ones.
Best Teaching Abilities
AWFUL professor. You must do everything EXACTLY how he does it or you get no marks. Very rude over email and in class.
The notes are clear and easy to follow, however he can be rude at times.
One of the best math profs at MUN. Gives good notes, explains everything well. Go to class and youll have no issues with him
horrible prof
Great guy, likes joking around with students in class. Writes good notes with lots of examples. Lots of assignments and webassigns but passing assignments in early gives you an extra 10%. Very direct and clear with explaining things, especially when asked outside of class. He's picky on assignments but just use his notation and correct brackets
He's actually a good teacher but grades way too hard for a first year Calculus course.
Dr Suvak is an awesome prof as long as you do your work. He gives weekly assignments and gives an extra 10% if they're handed in early. You need to attend class cause he doesn't have lecture capture. He's very helpful during office hours and is a really nice guy when he sees you're putting in the effort. He's got some attitude but he's a great prof
Very good prof. Clear on what he expects, and what will lose you marks. Follow his methods and you can't go wrong. Tough teacher but very good if you are willing to work hard and actually learn.
Lectures are good, he teaches the course well. However he is a very tuff grader, if you do not use his methods you will receive zero regardless of workings and having the correct answer. He does not follow the proper grading system. He also made a girl cry our first week of classes...
I enjoyed Suvak when I had him. I competed a minor in Math and if I had the choice I would have taken every course with him. Listen to what he says, do his method of getting the answer, come to class and you will do fine. Skip class and ask him a question he specifically discussed in the previous class then you will have issues with him.
Prof is an extremely difficult marker. If you deviate from his notation on a midterm or assignment, get ready to fail. His lectures are well done. However, he is rude and is known to make students cry. I would only reccomend this course to someone who has no previous knowledge of the topics covered. Youwill lose marks for doing things differently
Doesn't care about what you have to say. You need to solve stuff his way, even if you do it correctly in another way he will consider the whole thing wrong
I found Suvak to be a very good math professor. He was very thorough in his teachings and taught at a very good pace. He is a bit particular on methods and how things are done, but if you heed his instructions and attend all of his classes, it's easy to get a good final grade!
He seemed to be an okay professor at first. He knows his stuff. If you go to class, write EXACTLY what he does and dont ask questions, hes for you. Hes not as bad as people make him out to be, but he laughs at the class if you dont know an answer. My biggest problem with him was he talked at you, not to you, and I really dont learn like that
Weekly Assignments arent terribly difficult but if you dont understand something, dont bother looking for help from him. Old Fashioned chalk board used, dull lectures and often raises his voice at the class and makes you feel like you are dumb
Horrible prof! You have to do everything exactly his way, no extra workings or you will be marked wrong even if the answer is right. He makes you feel dumb if you don't understand his "absolutely trivial" questions. Wouldn't recommend him even to my worst enemy. On top of it all, he doesn't post his notes online and scribbles on a chalk board :/
I didn't find him as bad as some people. He is bearable and his notes are good, and he explains pretty well. He does not call out students however he can make you feel bad if you don't know the answer. He does not post notes online, so you must attend every class. You have do do everything his way - he won't take another method, even if it's right.
His teaching method is to have his back turned and write on the chalk board the whole lecture, I don't learn this way personally. He takes days to answer emails and was never helpful. He expected the class to catch on to things immediately and became very frustrated if we didn't. He made me feel very stupid when I asked questions.
Doesn't use the textbook and doesn't post any notes. If you don't use his techniques, he won't give you any marks. Make sure you go to class because you won't get any notes otherwise.
Dr. Suvak knows what he is talking about but does not know how to relay the information to those who do not. He gets very frustrated when you ask him to clarify examples. If you approach him after class with questions he becomes very agitated and makes you feel like an idiot for ever asking. Doesn't understand that not everyone has a Ph.D in math.
Jack is an easy going prof who is very straight forward. His in class lectures are full of examples and his assignments are straight forward. Go to class and follow along and you should have no trouble getting an A
Fair marker, his practice tests are very similar to his tests. Show up, take notes, do the assignments and you will do well in his class.
Explains clearly, but only once. You won't want to miss class or you'll miss a lot, and he doesn't post any notes or grades. Voice sort of reminds me of Winnie the Pooh, if that matters to anyone. Incredibly smart but makes comments like, "this is common sense!" than can be disheartening to students who may need help. Gives weekly assignments.
Dr Suvak expects what should be obvious, respect. Be respectful, attend ALL classes, take good notes, do all work and passing is easy. Work hard and use what he teaches, an A is guaranteed. Ask intelligent questions, he does not bite. He is generous with marks on exams if you actually TRY to solve things how he shows. Skipping class means no notes.
Definitely can see where some people are not too fond on this guy but if you put the work in and attend classes, then passing should not be too hard. One thing is that you have to answer questions specifically to the way he tought it or most marks will be lost, doesn't use D2L to post notes so going to class is a must.
Dr. Suvak was the worst prof I've ever had. He was extremely unapproachable and was often extremely rude with students. I had actually done the same course at Western University and received an 80, meanwhile Suvak completely butchered my assignments and exams as they were not done with methods he had taught. Definitely skip signing up for his class
The worst prof Ive ever had. Cant teach to save his life, condescending, so rude that its genuinely malicious, and grades so hard you can kiss your chance of passing his class goodbye. Never take his class.
I am taking a class this semester, and will fail for sure but I am trying my best. He tells students who are failing to drop courses instead of encouraging to do the best. Very rude.
Worst prof.
If you dont understand the material, and cant find outside help, good luck.
every class all he does is write on chalkboard (EXTREMELY small font)after class I asked if he can write a little bigger as everyone around me was using their phone camera to zoom on the board.. his response "no. your just gonna have to get a seat in the front" I have perfect vision.. he doesn't care about your education or if you pass his class.
I have never had such a horrible professor. He has no issue berating and embarrassing his students in front of the class if they don't understand the material and he does not encourage you to do better, rather he tells you to drop his course. I have yet to speak to one person who has had good things to say about him. No idea how he still has a job.
People give Suvak way too hard of a time on here. While he can be blatantly condescending at times, he's normally pretty level-headed and entertaining the rest of the time.
Easily the worst prof i've ever had. Not only are his lectures horrible as he writes everything tiny on a chalk board, he is also easily the rudest and most condescending man I have met. If you want to pass, buy the notes from the tutor company.
I find online classes hard when it comes to math. Last semester in 1090 my prof posted video lectures online. However, with Mr. Suvak, all you get are course notes and audio recordings of him reading them word for word with no extra info, and practice worksheets with answers but no workings to show how to get the answer. 10/10 would NOT recommend.
Worst prof ever, he just reads notes word for word and I find myself having to search up the theories on my own because he skips key parts of them. Never ever take him.
Probably the worst teacher I've ever had, h when students had issues with submitting test he told us he just wouldn't grade them if they weren't in the right format while only giving us an extra 5 minutes to submit it, he has said to not contact him through brightside and only posts the notes I have not learned anything.
He is by far the worst prof I have ever had. Giving your students pre-made notes with AUDIO lectures giving 0 extra info does not cut it. I'm surprised this man still has his job. I've checked my quizzes and I've actually gotten 2/10 when the workings on the answer key were the same as mine. Save yourself the stress and pick anyone else but him.
I hate giving bad reviews, especially since prof's are also adjusting to the covid new normal, but do NOT take him for this course. Idk if he is better in person, but all he does is read the notes and with the material covered it is so hard to follow along. He is great at answering emails though when I had questions. He made an easy course, hard.
I literally cannot stress enough not to take this prof. His online method of teaching is useless, he provides absolutely nothing to the course besides a voice reading the notes. The notes don't explain why anything is the way it is, just gives you the answers and your left to figure it out on your own. WORST prof I have had.
If I could literally give him a 0/5 rating I would. The worst prof I have ever had, he is sexist and cruel to students. I heard a story he stapled a McDonald's resume to a test a student failed one year. There is no point in emailing him for help because he will just tell you to stop emailing and find it yourself. Very condescending person. -5/10
When I say avoid Suvak at all costs, I MEAN IT. Choose a good professor over easy course content. Suvak is a horrible prof and human being. He is inconsiderate, ableist, merciless and hateful. Almost all of our class failed his exam which he made mandatory to pass to pass the course. And it was worth 60%. He wants you to fail. Will not help you.
Do not take Jack Suvak's 1050 Math course he takes an easy course and makes it supper complicated. Not only does he not teach the course his notes are even worse. When emailing Suvak his responses are very rude and unhelpful. He also does not allow students to use their accommodations.
Suvak is one of the worst profs I have EVER had. The material isn't too difficult, but he makes it more difficult on the students. Learning online is hard enough as it is but he makes it even harder. His teaching consists of notes not explaining anything, then he posts a voice recording reading the notes word for word. He doesn't explain anything.
Dr. Suvak is a horrible professor, this man doesn't care about the well being of his students at all. A peice of advise for students taking this course, expect absolutely zero guidance and zero effort on Dr. Suvak's be half to teach you. This man's heart is black towards students. Good luck students and don't give up no matter what Dr. Suvak says.
He is terrible at online teaching, all lectures are audio-only. You can not see him interacting with the notes at all. He makes it pretty clear that he does no enjoy teaching lower level math by constantly using terms like obviously in his lectures when the information is not obvious.
Dr Suvak definitely makes you work to succeed. If you show that you want to succeed, he is extremely helpful and goes above and beyond. Be prepared for dry audio lectures and lengthy notes. The course content itself is not too hard but you definitely need to study and do the worksheets in order to do well.
hardest class I've taken. With online learning he only posted audio lectures with NO video. The audio was very long and hard to follow. Very short and hard tests every Friday. Unclear with what he wants. I would have the answer right with full workings and would receive no points. I had to drop the course due to the amount of stress
I've never seen such a condescending and hateful professor in my entire life. The course consisted of four pages of notes with AUDIO-only lectures. The exam was worth 60% of the final grade where close to every student failed. Any emails to him will without a doubt get you no answers and a spiteful reply. All his students deserve refunds.
Definitely would not recommend
I did this course online and it was terrible. The work was not too hard but he would mark a question wrong if you made one tiny mistake and the rest of the answer was correct. Seemed like he wanted to give low grades and only provided audio lectures the whole semester. Would not recommend.
Bad. Horrible. Mean. Awful. Stay away from Dr. Suvak, gives so many notes and explains hardly anything he puts out on the board. Laughed at a student when they got an answer wrong and said "good thing we can use calculators in this class". Do not want his students to succeed. I have asked questions after class for help and he simply ignores them.
Do not take this course it is not worth it. Hes a horrible professor, makes his students feel like they are dumb and makes the math he teaches harder than it is. He is very rude and very judgmental. I literally just dropped the course because he made me feel stupid and would just constantly tell me and my class we are gonna fail .
Avoid this class if you can. Very condescending and rude. Doesnt post his notes, cant read his writing, and due to COVID we cant pass in assignments in person or take attendance, therefore all we are being marked on is 2 tests and a final. Told us we all must have not put in the work, and quote to say marks were terrible is an understatement
Dr Suvak is a rude, condescending, cranky and unhelpful person who looks down at all his students and doesn't offer any guidance whatsoever, despite constantly asking if we have any questions. This term we are graded only on 2 tests and a final, no assignments, which is not great for any student because Suvak grades extremely hard.
No quizzes, no assignments just two tests worth 20% and a final worth 60% in math this should not be allowed. no way to get extra credit
By reading the reviews I was mortified to go into Suvaks class. He is not as mean as the reviews make him come across. He does make snobby comments which should not be acceptable but nothing too bad. He is a hard grader almost like he enjoys to see people fail. Any tests my class has done this year the class average had more failed then passed.
I think he is the worst teacher ive ever had. Please for your mental health and if you want to pass, dont take any classes with him
He's willfully ignorant to new technology to help both himself and students. His explanations are unclear and despite attending every class and doing every worksheet and extra assignment, practice tests and exams, i dont know if ill pass
Dr. Suvak is an absolutely terrible prof. He doesn't care about his students and doesn't explain anything in lectures. All we had were two term tests and a final exam worth 60% of our final grade. Just setting students up for failure. For your own sanity and mental health avoid at all costs. Not fit.
The reviews on here make Suvak out to be worse then he is. He does make the course seem harder then it is, and if you miss class you will have a hard time catching up because he doesnt post notes or anything. But if you attend class and practice the material youll be ok. Keep in mind he may deduct marks if you do things a dif way then he taught.
Suvak was by far the worst prof I have ever had. He refused to give me my accommodations through the blunden centre and he made my life miserable all semester. Suvak is a bully, constantly calling on students and mocking them when they get it wrong by saying concepts are "simple" & "absolutely trivial". I will never take a class with him again
Due of covid we were not graded on worksheets but they were still given. Our mark consisted of 2 midterms each worth 20% and a 60% final. The exams are almost the exact worksheets, SO DO THEM!! Suvak only grades things done his way, if you are getting a tutor I suggest them understand Suvaks ways themselves.
I dropped his course after the first lecture. His solution to an online start to the semester was to post the notes and have AUDIO lectures. He didn't elaborate or explain, only went through the (bad) notes. I can't learn calculus from an audiobook.
he's not THAT mean, honestly. just pay attention to what he writes and ignore the condescending remarks and you'll be fine. tip: all the questions on the exam were the exact same format as the ones from the practice exam he provide, just different numbers. set aside lots of time to study. i recommend buying the course notes.
Awful professor. Awful notes. Not helpful in the slightest. Very strict and everything has to be done his way. Would 100% drop the class if there were any other professors available.
Worst prof I have ever had by far. I put in a lot of work and usually am good at understanding math concepts, however, Jack Suvak does not care whatsoever if the answer is correct, he will mark it wrong anyways if it's not exactly his way. Openly belittles students, is genuinely a terrible prof, for your mental health avoid his courses at all costs
At a glance, Suvak might just be the worst prof in the entire school. However, truth is that he gives you all the tools you need to succeed. Showing up to class and lots of practice is key, and he'll help you out!
Suvak was the worst professor/teacher i have ever encountered. If your answers are correct, he will grade them wrong if not done exactly how he would do it. graded on 2 term tests and a 60% final with little to no practice provided, our class average for one of our term tests was 30%, he ridiculed us for an entire hour. Just do a different course.
i hope his wife leaves him and he spirals in to an alcoholic depression. 0/10 would not take again.
i was scared to take him bc of all the bad reviews. he isnt that bad but i never went to him for advice because he's intimidating. the exam is worth 60% and theres 10 assignments. he's a tough grader and rarely gives partial points. only use his formulas. if you study, do practice tests, take notes and use his only his methods you'll do just fine.
I cannot read his writing, he does not help you, not my favorite
The course itself is not hard, however Suvak will work to put any road blocks he can in front of you to stop you from doing well. His lectures will teach you everything you need to know, that is if you can even make out his writing or hear him to even take proper notes. He's also just a really mean and condescending person.
Suvak can be rude sometimes or condescending. Aside from that he is an okay prof, he explains stuff very well in his lectures but will not give you any feedback whatsoever. He is so mean and can be so hurtful. He refuses to use tech so your notes can only be obtained in his lectures. GO TO CLASS!!! Asking him questions is useless.
Suvak is unpleasant and disrespectful to the class as a whole. He doesn't care about teaching, only getting the content out to the class and it's the bare minimum. The first assignment most of the class just passed with a 50 or failed and he blamed it on the class and not his teaching skills so that's when i dropped his class.
While Suvak was not an approachable or friendly prof, I did enjoy the way he taught. He walks the class through how to do each type of question and gives many examples, so you know what to expect during tests. You need to answer questions the way he does. If you think you can do well without having to interact with him, you should have no problem.
