He is a very easy teacher, however he has a hard time understanding you when you ask a question, and doesn't really like going over homework. Does lots of examples on the board. Overall you will get a good understanding of the math.

This is the easiet class i have ever taken in my life. i did more work in library science. Also, this guy says "data-er" at least 35 times per class. So it's an easy A and comedy hour with good ole Szeto who quotes, "I don't know who bawwy bonds is, i know who james bond is."

Really easy teacher who does everything on the calculator and allows formulas for the tests.

He is a good teacher. Always has an easy way of teaching something. Going to class is mandatory or it will be hard to pass. He will help anyone one who regularly goes to class. I made an A but dont really like the computer aspect.

Mr. Szeto is a very good teacher, i dont know what class all these other people were attending who talk bad about him. He wants to help everyone in his class. I finished with a 88.5% and since i came to class regularly and did what was asked from him, he gave me an A!! All he asks from you is to show up and practice. Only draw back is his accent

teaches very well. besides the fact you have to see him twice a week then go to lab where all your homework, quizes and tests are online.

I could understand him perfectly. He is more than willing to help with any problem in math lab. His lectures are time sensitive, so understandably, his ability to Q&A inside the class room is limited. He does make minor arithmetic mistakes from time to time, but really who doesn't...it happens. He knows his stuff and if you let him, he'll help.

I first walked into the class and I was like wtf. He calls people yoda and is obsessed with starwars. At first I could barely understand him, but you get use to it. I would definitely recommend him. He tries to help you with every problem you have. I took this class 3 times and couldnt pass it for nothing. Took him and he made it so easy!!TAKE HIM

He was a great professor! And even though he is into Starwars, he makes it funny:) He teaches you everything you need to know for the test, and if you do the work, its an easy A:)

Extremely helpful! I found him difficult to understand at first because of his accent but he is very nice. His lectures consist of going through every homework problem, and he does the workbook pages with you. Also goes over the problems that are missed the most on tests.

He seems difficult and mean at first but he's really not. He yells a lot in the beginning but it's just to scare you. He hates texting so don't do it. If you show up to class he'll like you and help you out with test questions and show you shortcuts. His help is a ton better than the math lab examples.

BEWARE! Do not take this instructor. He is way too smart for his own good, and therefore gets angrey when you do not understand. This is the worst math teacher i have ever had!

He does care that you pass his class, and will answer your questions in and out of class. Courtesy is important to him. He will give you easier ways to complete the homework than the book and MyMathLab will if there is an easier way to do so. I had no problem understanding him; his speech was very clear to me. I would definitely recommend him!

Very good teacher. Only, problem is that sometimes you can't understand him. But, he is always willing to stay after class to help you, and is always in the math lab. He will walk you through a good bit of a lesson if he has to. I personally think he is great.

He is an excellent professor. He teaches his students the easiest ways to solve problems, and does homework problems with us to make sure that we are doing them correctly. I would definitely recommened him to anybody who wants to take this math class. Plus he's super funny and that is always a good thing.

I have NEVER been good with Math,but I passed his class with a B! He's a stickler for attendance,bc he covers a lot in one class.if you miss, you're LOST. he WILL block access to mymathlab after too many absences.he's a bit nutty, lots of Star Wars quotes and jokes. he shows easier ways to do things which makes life easier. I HIGHLY recommend him.

Mr. Szeto is a wonderful man and teachers his accent is a little strong but he will even admit to you that he is trying to improve his english. If you attend class he has no problem helping you out and even opening up past due assignments. This is my fourth time taking math 161 and i am finally passing with a B because of him.

Mr. Szeto was an awesome teacher! Even though he may be hard to understand at first and the material may seem really hard, don't let it discourage you! He is very helpful and will stop class to answer any questions. Do your homework, it helps so much! If you take advantage of the graded assignments and homework quizzes, it isn't hard to make an A.

Mr. Szeto was a great teacher. Attendance is not mandatory, but he covers material quickly so you will get lost if you miss class often. He gives a lot of homework, but all the answers are in the back of the book. His tests aren't too difficult if you do all assignments. He lets you have a notecard for each test, and you can use all 4 on the final.

Mr. Szeto is definitely a professor you won't forget. He covers material really fast, so if you don't go to class you will be lost. He yells a lot, but if you take his class in the morning, you'll definitely be awake. Multiple tests, quizzes, homework checks and written assignments. I struggle with math and he has been very helpful!

I loved Mr. Szeto! He answered very quickly when I emailed asking him for help. Mr. Szeto makes class entertaining because he's funny and he makes lots of Star Wars references :) His tests are challenging but you can make it out of his class with an A if you are dedicated. I would have probably had a harder time passing this without Mr. Szeto.

He is Chinese-Asian, so he may be a little hard to understand at first. He makes tons of jokes, especially about Star wars, but he is all business. Come prepared, do the homework, and pay attention and you will do fine.

I have always had trouble with math until I got to Mr. Szeto's class. He is great at explaining and preparing his notes. You have to attend every class and do the lab hours or you will not pass! His homework is not hard at all and he gives you an ample amount of time to complete it. Would definitely recommend!

I hate math so much and Mr. Szeto made it extremely easy. I was in math 105 and the Math 92 pilot class. The pilot class on Friday's saved my life. He would review the practice tests and quizzes before you take them & he always during the week or on fridays would stop and demonstrate questions on the homework that we're going to be rough.

Mr. Szeto is quite the hoot! He has a Hello Kitty phone case which I find VERY peculiar. He knows what he is doing and can explain the subject very well. I did well because I put forth effort. If you miss class, you will get lost. If you don't skip and still manage to get lost, don't let yourself go; use the math lab tutors to help explain topics.

Best math teacher at Selu. He really tries to help as much as he can. I wish i could take him for every math class that I have to take here! LOVE HIM!

Hes so crazy but in a good way. He teaches well. He takes the material and breaks it down into small sections, and if you have a question hell answer it. He does have 2 major rules: DONT GET ON YOUR PHONE AND DONT BE LATE

Mr. Szeto was by far my funniest teacher at SELU. In order to do well, you have to come to class on time (because he will close the door on you) and ask him for help/better understand. He made statistics understandable for me! Final test was rough though but hes a great teacher!

His lectures are fast paced, but he does go over information thoroughly. It is IMPERATIVE that you attend class as you take a lot of notes. So long as you do your homework, and study for each of the tests, you should be fine. FYI: He doesn't curve grades.

His Chinese accent is not hard to understand. he knows has and accent and will correct himself. He is good for a remedial math like this where he has to give you points back but you'll prefer a teacher that speaks English. MAKE YOURSELF KNOWN IN A GOOD WAY!!! DONT UNDERSTAND, SPEAK UP. For the people that sit in the front, BEWARE OF THE SPLASH ZONE! if this man is getting into it, lean back a little so you don't get spit on. Besides that, he does a fantastic job at teaching the material. If you don't understand something don't be scared to say something. he will go back and explain. DO THE MATH LABS! they will seriously help you.

I love this teacher. I had him for Math 105 and now 241. He makes the material easy to understand. As long as you attend class and do your homework, you will end it with a good grade! Also, NEVER take your phone out and show up to class on time!!!

Hes very loud, and funny. Historically I never liked math, but he definitely makes it enjoyable and easy. You wont go wrong taking him.

Taken for math 105 and 241 fall 18 and spring 19 year. Very easy and works with you for math 105. But for math 241 he is tense and a little harsh. But i do recommend taking if you want a teacher who explains thoroughly

I took him for 105 & hes absolutely hilarious & dedicated to helping his students. He strives to make sure his students pass & will call you out if youre slacking. Attendance is key to passing the class as well as attending math lab. He will email you & prepare you by reminding you of due dates weekly. Will definitely be taking him again for 241!

I am currently taking his 105 math class and I 100% recommend taking his class. He thoroughly explains the math problems and makes sure students get alot of practice so that they understand what is going on. He has no tolerance of phones and if you're late to class he sometimes will not let you in. Im not sure why he has bad reviews, he's hilarious

He is actually a lot easier than people say really he really cares. Come to class do your work and there is no way you wont pass

He goes in depth about the material, and is good at explaining. He does scream a lot and seem crazy and sometimes annoying from how much he repeats, but it helkps implant the info in your head. He will not give you bonus, and if you miss one day you will start to fall behind. Make sure to do lab hours, because it helps in the end. I recommend him

He is a good teacher, most of the kids in my class knew what to do if I didn't. Four tests, only one or two of them were difficult. Exam is very difficult, failed many students.

John Szeto is a great professor. I dont know why these reviews say he calls students fools and yells at them. He has been nothing but caring towards his students. He goes over problems in class if you need help and really wants to see you succeed. He also has a funny side and always cracks me up!! I would recommend him!

Out of all the teachers I've had from math, Mr. Szeto has been the greatest teacher and I've learned so much. He makes class funny while teaching and wants the best for his students. He does have a slight accent that might be hard to understand to some, but overall, he's great at what he does.

As someone who is terrible at math, this professor seriously helped me understand it. Yes he gives a good bit of work, but it helps you in the end. He drops your 3 lowest workbook pages, and your lowest exam. Some may find him strict, but I find him to be an awesome professor. Definitely recommend him!!

He isn't a bad teacher, I have always struggled with math and he really breaks things down for everyone to understand. He yells a lot, not really at his students just about math. On exams you have to show all of your work and he gives a lot of bonus points. He also locks the door 5 minutes after class starts but id take him again if i could.

Mr. Szeto was kind of strict. The way he teaches is funny. If you skip class you will be lost. Great math teacher, not friendly. Homework and quizzes on pearson helps grade.

Szeto is an easy professor. He teaches good but you have to listen very well because his English isn't that great. His class isn't hard at all if you actually attend class and pay attention. I like his rule of no phones because it forces you to pay attention and to actually learn. Great teacher just yells a lot and isn't the nicest.

Mr. Szeto has a hearing aid so he doesn't always hear people when they answer Qs softly so it's key to project your voice when speaking to him. He's nice as long as you treat the class professionally and focus. Takes off worst quiz and HW grades which was awesome. The lab is a lot but you need the practice for the material anyway. Strict but fair.

When first attending, he seems scary, he is not, he demands respect. I was horrible at math, but Mr. Szeto has the highest average for all his classes because he does not go by the rules he teaches tricks and makes it easier for students who never succeeded. Take this class and you will excel.

I was so scared to take Professor Szeto because of his rate my prof ratings, but he was so awesome. Teaches amazing, makes sure you know what you are doing. He does not put up with games, which is why I think a lot of people dislike him. He comes to class and teaches, and he does an amazing job at it. 100/10 recommend

This class is very easy to pass if you go to class and do the work. You also have to understand where he is coming from and how his personality is before judging him. He can seem mean at first, but he actually just really cares.

He was the best professor I could have asked for. He gave very clear and easy instructions. Now he does have hearing and speech issue but you can still understand him. I struggle in math and I managed to get an A. I definitely recommend taking him 100%. He makes math easy and his test are almost identical to the practice test

The best math teacher I'll ever have in my entire life. He teaches you math and explains things thoroughly; if you don't understand it while attending his class, that's a YOU problem. There's lots of online homework and the math lab every week where you can do your homework and quizzes. Go to class and do the homework he gives you, it helps!

There's 4 tests and the final is optional. He drops 5 lowest grades at the end of semester. Does require Mathwork book. His class is not hard if you show up and pay attention.

He was very excentric and weird but that's definitely what added to the charm. He was good at his job and made things clearer to us. Far better than most of the math teachers, I had during grade school. The class always flew by with how entertaining he made the whole experience feel.
