The quizzes and other chapter quizzes kept me very busy. He's a super nice guy and offers a lot of extra credit. This class was painful though, lots of busy work and I didn't feel like I really learned much, but if you do the work you will pass.
the class overall is ok. Professor has a lot of homework assignments online which is due at the end of the course so be sure not to get behind. he offers lots of extra credit opportunities to bring up your grade.
easy A
Enjoyed the class! If you are willing to do the work you will pass. He is willing to work with you
Lots of online work. Testing every class. Expectations are not clear. Lectures are non-existent. Overall I feel like I didn't learn anything and I would NOT recommend this professor.
Dropped my class due to constant changing and disorganization. Also the emails for instructions on projects haven't been sent. He was nice enough to stretch everything to be due on the very last day, but it was irritating to find out the excercises wasn't such a big deal and only counted as a fraction of your grade after working hard on them.
Although this professor is hard to understand because of his strong accent he engages in the class and makes it a comfortable learning space. The work is straight forward and easy to understand but it is difficult to follow during lectures because of his accent.
mr taylor was a good teacher, even when we had some hangups in the class he always communicated with us in reference to whats going on all the time. i appreciate that from him. i would def have him as a teacher again
He was very nice and let you work ahead!
Prof Taylor is a nice guy. He is accessible outside of class via email and text and respond to texts in a decent amount of time- usually 24 hours. He gives ALOT of online work which accounts for roughly 900 of the 1300 points however he is kind of disorganized. Easy A, though. Can't say I really learned anything. Deff don' take him for 7 weeks only
Good teacher lots of work
Professor Taylor was an easy to reach professor. Yes, he gives a lot of homework because its an online class. It is not to hard. He also gives a lot of chances for extra credit. I would definitely take him again.
He works with you to improve your grade if youre willing to work for it!
he is a very nice man and made learning chemistry much easier.
Professor Taylor is a really nice guy, he gives a lot of opportunities for you to get an A in the class. And of course he gives lots of online homework, and quizzes almost every class.
He rarely communicated what was due next class effectively.
Yeah, he is disorganized sometimes. but he is a very nice guy. Some students dropped his class few weeks after the classes have started. I almost did, Thank God, I did not! Those people have drop him I hope they find another one that is as nice as Prof Taylor. I would gladly take him again if I needed to.
I got kinda of confused at the very beginning of class, but as the weeks went on I was able to understand him. He has a lot of busy work but it is easy. He also has a test a week but it is just like his study guide. He offers a lot of extra credit.
At the beginning of the class, I was clueless. He gave out numerous study packs and extra credit. He got off topic a good bit during lecture as well. But as time went on I managed to do well. I don't recommend a 7-12 week course with him. Lots of assignments at the end.
This Professor is easy to contact and response very quickly. Although he is good at all those things he does this thing called "Baby Steps" and the amount of homework is ridiculous.
I took this as an online class. TONS of assignments. A little ridiculous. Felt like the course work was all over the place and not very organized. Responded well to any questions in a timely manner. Since it was online, the assignments are given in a way that you can retake them as many times as you would like and the highest grade was kept.
not the best class if you are interested in learning about chemistry. However if your goal is to obtain a passing grade for a basic chemistry/general ed requierment professor Taylor would not be a poor choice. Lots of online homework with unlimited chances to reattempt making for time consuming but easy grades.
This professor isn't very clear in his lectures and you get an exam just about every class. He gives you an extreme amount of online homework and it is worth 2/3 of your grade even if he isn't a hybrid class. I will say there are plenty of extra credit opportunities. The best advice is to stay ahead and never fall behind. He is fairly difficult.
Dr Taylor gives a huge amt of homework, at first not clear on assignments, but he is always available via text/email if you have questions. I 100% wouldn't suggest getting behind, because it takes forever to catch up.
I focused more on test than online work. i greatly advised on line work first.
He answered my emails, helped when I was confused and gave good feedback
The beginning of the class was confusing , but he replies very quick to emails and has been very helpful . Lots of small quizzes , so you have to do the work each week or you will fall very behind . He offer extra credit , which is nice . Overall Id take this class again
Take him and you will do great! Ask question if needed.
There's alot of work. But an easy grade .
Overall the class consisted of an extreme amount of work. However, all the of the work is online and there are no due dates so you have until the end of class.
The class is honestly really laid back. Do at least two or three chapters a week and you will not have a problem getting a B or higher. He is very understanding and tries to help you as much as possible. I took three other classes while taking his course and I was not stressed out at all. He gives plenty of extra credit. And there are no due dates.
Show up to class, do all of the homework and canvas quizzes, listen to the lecture, do well on in-class exams, guaranteed A. Plus, there is a handful opportunity for extra credit! Professor Taylor is very nice and gives a chance for you to make up exams and even retake them.
Taylor won't surprise you with pop quizzes, but he WILL expect you to do hours & hours of out of classroom work. His online quizzes are a bit overwhelming. I took a hybrid class and ended up teaching myself a lot of the chapters. The way he grades is cool. You earn a certain amount of points for each letter grade. 1500A Do the work and you pass.
Professor Taylor was really amazing. He always helped his students with work and wanted them to get good grade
He is an amazing teacher and he really cares about you passing. he works with you and helps you whenever you need it!
Professor Taylor's online course looks overwhelming at first glance until you actually look through the required quizzes. The required quizzes are very short and can be retaken unlimited times. The grading guidelines are clear, so you will have no surprises. He also offers a lot of extra credit.
Professor Taylor was the most frustrating professor I have had yet. He does care about the subject, but he is so unorganized it is near impossible to understand what is expected of you. Tests every class, on top of a RIDICULOUS amount of online work. He uses class time to tell stories so prepare to teach YOURSELF chemistry. I DONT RECOMMEND!
I took Prof Taylor for an online CHM1020 class and it is a work at your own pace. Keep up with the work weekly and you will do great. He is accessible out of class and gives a schedule to when and where t find him. He gives several extra credit options to do as well.
John Taylro is an incredible professor. He opens teh course assignments and only requires you to submit everything by teh end of the semester. He does have an outline made of where you should be, but he lets you take the course at you rown pase. Recommend 8/10 only because there was a lot of course work i mean 1350 points worth of work.
Do your work and youll receive an A. Great professor, really wants to see his students succeed!
He is a sweet professor his class is very easy you have to keep up with your work online and be sure you pass your in class tests. You will have plenty of make up time and extra credit to get you where you wanna be as grade wise. He is very understanding. He get off task but is a great teacher. You will be confused at his syllabus his class easy
Hes a wonderful teacher very caring about what you may have going on. Online well you teach yourself but hes there any time phone email call text whatever to help you through it. I would take his course again if I could for my other science courses!
John Taylor is an amazing teacher. He is very understanding and helps you out when you need it!
Hes amazing and super understanding and help
He is available to arm you with all the tools required to excel in chemistry. I gained a different perspective with chemistry.
John Taylor was a caring professor. Seemed overwhelming because there was a lot to take in with his syllabus and external websites he likes to use. Seemed disorganized, but offers plenty extra credit. Weekly exams not too difficult as long as you study the study packs and make use of external sites. GO OVER SYLLABUS AND EXTERNAL SITES! It helps!
Great Professor, he wants his students to learn and pass. Responds to emails quickly, gives tons of extra credit. You will work constantly lots of quizzes, but its an easy A.
Y'all. Do not take this professor. If you want to just take a class and google the answers the whole time to get an A, then he's the guy for you. If you want to actually learn the things you need for further classes, pick someone else. I don't understand how his rating is so high. Didn't lecture about the material other than 5 min here and there.
If you need to understand chemistry to pass microbiology for nursing or dental hygiene, etc., take someone else for CHM 1020. Sure there is a lot of extra credit for Prof Taylor, but I am regretting not taking another instructor for chemistry. If you really want to learn chemistry, go with someone else. If you want an easy A, Taylor is the one.
Worst professor, took in 2015 felt obligated to review. Lectures are long mostly off topic on a inappropriate nature. Pauses lectures for long periods due to dizziness. When asked questions we received dismissive "figure it out type responses." People rely on extra credit at the end of semester. Hard course, if not a chm wiz. Earned As in CHM 1&2
Professor Taylor does offer a lot of extra credit to help bring your grade up. Reading the textbook and looking at videos is required. Study packets for chapters given in class to help study for in class exams. Video question assignments,End of chapter exams and Vocabulary fill in the blank done online. Projects maybe required. Try your best pass
This is my second semester as a freshmen, I highly recommend if you want to learn and obtain the information given do not take this class. It's pointless conversations about his life, or preaching about what's going on in the world today. The work wouldn't be so confusing if it was explained more clearly. Although, he's very kind.
There was a little confusion at times but that is why he gives you his contact information to ask outside of class hours . There is no reason you should fail the class unless you don't do the work. Due to covid-19 it did make the class more of a self taught class but he was still trying his best through conference to teach and answer questions
Professor Taylor is a great person. He talks a lot and definitely gives a lot of work much of which is easy and can be completed as long as you do it. Unlimited chances on quizzes, homework and test. And offers a bunch of extra credit so there is no reason you shouldnt pass the class. Highly Recommend!!
Professor Taylor is good professor. He gives alot of extra credit in order to pass his class. He requires a lot end of chapters/quizzes that are all through canvas.
Professor Taylor gives plenty of resources and extra credit in order to achieve an A. He is always available if you need help,
Professor Taylor is very nice but talks alot outside of the subject. very helpful and understaning though. I wouold definitly recommend him overall.
Prof. Taylor's lectures were a bit difficult to understand at times but if you follow the study packs he provides to you, you should be okay. there are weekly tests in his class on the material, a few projects, and a lot of extra credit. just do the work to the best of your ability and ask questions, you'll get an easy A.
took the online course and it is a lot of homework that you can just google the answers to. His method of assignments is very confusing , I truly never knew what to do and when it was due. I would not recommend this class due to his very unorganized strategies.
He does assign a lot of work but his class is based on points and not the average score so once u get your points then your good. The reason I say i would not take his class again is because i love chemistry and his lectures can become confusing since he teaches as though we already know everything when we do not and gets distracted very easily.
Class was a little challenging but he is specific , just read alot and read the things he post on canvas
My experience in his class was fairly easy. He really cares for the students' success.
Professor Taylor is extremely into his subject! There's so much space for extra credit that getting an A should not be hard, literally - he's fantastic at wanting everyone to pass. Beware, there's rambling, but some is entertaining. I'd take him over again if I needed another science. Just make sure you're in class for the daily "homework" exams.
Professor Taylor is a bit all over the place. In class exams every week, but if you understand the content in the packs he gives you will get an easy A. Spent lots of time watching YouTube to understand class content. Many online assignment with unlimited attempts. He makes it very easy to get an A but he also can cause a lot of stress.
Great professor, provides A LOT of extra credit so getting an A is super easy if you put in the work. Lectures can get a little off track because he has a lot of stories that goes with most of the topics however he is very understanding and will answer any questions that you may have. Show up, do the work and you will be fine.
He's a little all over the place, but it's pretty easy to self guide thru the course. He's very fair and offers a lot of extra credit and chances to improve your grade. Everything online is able to be done multiple times, so there's no reason you shouldn't pass all the online content.
Our term was shortened by covid-19 and went to online only. At that time all of our assignments went to online. Professor Taylor is very fair and wants you to try. Be willing to do a lot of work but you will be rewarded for it.
He's very unorganized and is all over the place with teaching. Although I didn't learn anything he does have all the assignments open the whole semester and you can retake everything multiple times. Going to class was pointless because we spent maybe 10-20 minutes on the actual lesson. You were only allowed to take quizzes the last 20 mins of class
Professor Taylor's class was one of the easiest classes I have taken so far. I had a few questions about accessing a few assignments and Prof. Taylor answered quickly and told me how to solve my problems. There is a normal amount of work for an online class and you can also re do the assignments as many times as you'd like. I would take him again!
Mr. John Taylor is a very nice and caring professor. I had him for CHEM 1020 and his in-class tests are very easy if you study the notes that he actually gives you in class. His paper/non-online assignments are also very easy as well. The majority of his assignments are online quizzes. Overall, I would recommend anyone to take Mr. John Taylor.
The proffesor is well respected and provides instructional packets to guide you through the homework and prepare for test. Along with the lectures. The syballus is provided on the first day of class to inform you of what is epxpected and the different projects.
I took Professor Taylors class spring 2020 online, he is still getting used to Canvas so things are a bit confusing but he answers questions and replies emails fast. There are lots of reading quizzes and 4 required projects, but since COVID-19 struck he took out 2 of them. There are a lot of extra credit opportunities and its not hard to get an A
I loved Professor Taylor's class he is very understanding and caring and does his best to make sure everyone passes his class.
Lots of extra credit, work isnt overwhelming
I took this class to go towards my nursing degree and i dont regret it. Mr. Taylor was kind and understanding towards our individual struggles.
He is a very efficient teacher. He is very talkative so you are pretty much on your own for the lessons. Do the work and stay on track with the syllabus, you grade depends on it. You will be assigned ALOT of work and tests every class. If you are taking multiple courses this is not one you want to add to a heavy workload.
I don't recommend this professor to anyone because he is so unorganized. His syllabus will confuse you in the beginning f the course. His test is haven't, and he gives you a ton of home. however, he offered a lot of extra credit to able to bring up your grade.
He may be of age however he is a well-established professor with an incredible amount of knowledge towards chemistry and its very nice to learn from him.
Professor Taylor is caring, gives make up and extra credit. He really cares about the success of his students and will do what he can to help you as long as you put forth the effort. I would happily recommend taking his class. He has been so supportive during the covid 19 pandemic as far as deadlines.
His course is a bit confusing and all over the place but fairly easy and he gives tons of extra credit
I would say this class was not difficult but the way he organizes it is difficult to understand. None of the work was organized by due date so it was confusing. He did offer a lot of extra credit but thats the only thing that was positive about this class. Quizlet has all of the answers. He also gives extra credit for rating on here so BEWARE!!!
Professor Taylor loads you up with homework. You have to do Video, End of Chapter quizzes and Chapter tests that are unlimited and he does offer a lot of extra credit. He would pass out study packets during class before Covid 19 but that did not help me he barely taught the class and lectured only on a few things. Get ready to teach yourself.
I took Dr. Taylor for chm1020, it was supposed to be face to face. However, things changed because of covid. I was sacred to take this class put it off for over a year so glad I chose him! Please take him you wont regret it! #lots of extra credit! Cannot fail his class period.
Please take Professor Taylor, you will not regret it! I suck at chemistry so I was terrified to take this class however, Im glad I chose him. He gives lots of extra credit and is willing to work with you on late work. Very caring he wants you to pass. Pleas take
His class is somewhat overwhelming. You have to read SO much just to be able to get to the clear instructions. Other than that, he's very fun and you can tell he cares for his students and loves his field. The class is pretty easy; most answers are on Quizlet, so it's nice to be able to double-check your work. He also offers tons of extra credit.
I took a 7 week course with Prof. Taylor. As a professor, he is not bad. The work load for 7 weeks is VERY HEAVY and NO not everything is on quizlet. The syllabus is VERY overwhelming at first, but easier as the course goes. LOTS of extra credit & chance to make an A. Point system is Very high- 1500 for an A. Unlimited time & attempts on work/test
Professor Taylor has been nothing but amazing. He gives lots of extra credit and he gives you enough time to finish all the homework and projects.
Theres plenty of assignments in this class its a high point system 1500 points gets you an A and 900 gets you a C. Theres really no way you could fail this class. Its unlimited retakes on everything. Would take him again without a doubt!
Mr. Taylor is super nice and understanding. I would highly rec. taking him for Chemistry. I was super worried about this class, but he made it understandable and easy to pass.
Professor Taylor leaves assignments open until the last day of class so you can work at your own pace. However, there is a lot of work to be completed so you have to keep up with the work so you won't fall behind. He also gives lots of opportunities for extra credit. Do not like his wordy syllabus & class schedule - very unorganized and confusing.
His online chem class has a very confusing setup. You also have to email him almost all the projects and assignments, which I don't like because its easy to lose track of assignments. He seems nice and very personable but I wouldn't take his class again. He gives a lot of homework, projects, and quizzes so the class is very time-consuming.
This class has been great if you have a busy schedule. All of the assignments are due at the very last day so you can work ahead, or if you have a busy week you can catch up later on. There is a lot of work so do not wait until the last week to complete it all. There is a ton of extra credit and most everything is open book!
I took professor Taylor for CHM1020. The workload is heavy and the syllabus is a little confusing and unorganized. He does give you the chance to raise your grade with a lot of extra credit opportunities. There aren't due dates for anything, which can be a blessing a curse. I personally do much better when I know when something has to be done.
Lots of work and quizzes but not too difficult, also lots of extra credit opportunities.
If you can avoid taking this professor please do. Everything about this class makes you feel lost. Syllabus is confusing. All assignments are submitted through email, and as I experienced many times, you have to keep re-emailing him the same projects. Rarely replies to emails. Assignments either have no instructions or are confusing.
Professor Taylor is a great and amazing man. During the summer term with all this covid going on he was still about to get to all his students. He gave us his personal cell phone number and you could text him your question, if its not a short answer he will call you and explain it all the way through. I will take him again and again. lots of EC
Prof. Taylor is there for you when you need help! His seven week course has a lot of work including tests, quizzes, etc. There is no way to fail the class because of all the extra credit he gives out. Be sure to make time for this class!
This professor wasn't my best professor.
First time for him switching to full blown online due to COVID, he did a decent job. its just a rough transition for someone who is so use to in person, he tells alot of personal stories but he will reply to your phone calls and texts, i wouldnt recommend emailing him. OVERALL decently self paced.
There is TONS of extra credit. There is no reason why everyone doesn't pass with at least a B. I so happy I took this class. I'm terrible at chemistry but Prof Taylor made it possible to receive an A. Granted, I worked very hard for that A. I retook all my quizzes over and over until I got 95% or more. TAKE THIS CLASS!! EASY A!
It's a lot of course work, but you have every chance to get an A in this class. I took the 7 week course online. He replies to emails and you have unlimited chances on quizzes.
There lots of quizzes. You have to really organize your time in this class. As an online chemistry course for 7 weeks, the work load was pretty heavy. (2 chap/a week)But, you get many chances and theirs extra credit available to help as well. The syllabus was all over the place. However, i had him break it down to me. He cares for his students.
Dont do it. Hes not there for you whatsoever and gives absolutely no help when asking questions. My class had a group chat and had to teach each other with no guidance. The syllabus is all over the place with no real guidelines. Do yourself a favor and find someone else
I wouldnt take him again. In fact, Im taking this course again with someone else. If you dont need guidance or organization this is for you. Its self paced. I however needed structure and was left feeling like the class was more about telling loosely related stories versus teaching me. Too much of everything from the syllabus to the conferences.
Dropped his class because he is very unorganized. You have to buy a textbook, but he doesn't test you on the material from the book. You get tested on his wonky study guides & outdated 00's videos. I had some trouble w/ a test, & I tried asking him about it in class. He interrupted me 2 times before I could fully ask the question. Made CHM harder.
So, this class had a lot of quizzes. You have a couple quizzes for each chapter & on top of everything, there is no lecture so you are basically learning it yourself. You try to email him and ask questions... NO RESPONSE! Its like he disappeared half way though the semester and it was a 7week class!!! Personally wouldnt recommend this professor.
He is an amazing teacher, he will give you a lot of extra credits throughout the course, you do have to keep up with your homework assignments every day, make sure you do all your work and study hard for the exams you will do great! He is really sweet and nice and he has study packs for every chapter of the course, I enjoyed taking his class.
i really like Professor Taylor he was super nice and is very easy going
Taking chemistry with Mr. Taylor is a great option if you are new to taking a chemistry class. He offers so much extra credit and baby step assignments if you fall behind in order to keep your grade up. He provides a lot of material to study in order to really learn and master the concepts. He also provides his cell number so he is easily reachable
Professor Taylor is very generous when it comes to giving you a lot of extra credits. I liked his grading scale, he goes with how many points you earned in total versus percentage. The lecture is ok because most of the time we would be watching a video, not much lecture from him.
Mr. Taylor really loves the subject he teaches and that makes you want to learn more about the subject. We meet once a week, however, whenever we have lecture he breaks it down if there is any confusion. I would definitely recommend his class but be prepared to work because there is a lot of work.
If chemistry is a strong point for you, this class will be easy. It is self-paced and no real due dates besides everything being due at the end of the semester. If you struggle with chemistry and need thorough lectures, this class will be very hard. Lots of quizzes and tests on the material but also a lot of opportunities for extra credit.
I was really nervous about taking Chemistry but Professor Taylor is great. You are aware of all assignments at the very start of class. He doesn't pressure you with deadlines and gives you multiple opportunities to earn extra credit to help boost your grade. He wants you to succeed!
He gives a lots of extra credit.
Its no way to fail his class. You really dont have a real due date everything just needs to be turn in by the end of the semester. You can pick and choose which assignments you want to do. Ive taken him during COVID-19 the zoom classes are a little annoying versus being in person.
Professor was sweet, but im not sure if its because of the pandemic I barely learned anything in the class. I will have to teach myself the martial! Professor loves to talk about his life wife especially lol. He gets behind on grading its annoying but overall he is an OKAY professor. The work load is easy but its confusing syllables all over.
He is an easy going professor. Sometimes things can get confusing but between classmates and lectures, it gets easier. No specific deadlines for assignments so he allows you to work at your own pace.
This man was ALL OVER THE PLACE. He never replied to emails until the last week of class. He have you going through 5 different websites to find the work hes assigning. Be prepared to spend at least 3-4 hours a day just trying to stay on pace with his work load. He assign 3 mandatory projects and give so much extra credit it should be a crime.
he is a sweet professor, there's alot of work. but majority of it is extra credit. he isnt very organized but he will tell you what to do if you need help.
Given that this class was forced to be online due to Covid he did a decent job. If you happen to take this class online be prepared to teach yourself a lot though, he was not given enough time to really teach us all the information. He is a very slow grader to be patient. He gives a lot of extra credit though and is lenient on due dates.
Loads of work, exams and quizzes BUT its really easy! Allows open book. Very understanding and pretty lenient with assignment due dates. I would take the class again if I had to.
I have to agree with everyone else: his syllabus was confusing and overwhelming. It's obvious that he spent a lot of time on the external sites he built, but as long as you know that they aren't mandatory to use, you'll be fine. He grades on a point scale rather than an average, so just do as much as you need to to get the grade you want.
As a working mom of two, the course material is all over the class. There are too many unnecessary links with hyperlinks to other links.. etc. The professor understands the material and how to navigate it but does not seem to care much that its difficult for students to navigate. He also does not have set deadlines other than before the course ends
Great for those who are working with a busy schedule.
The syllabus was outlined in detail. You are able to work ahead on assignments
Fully online class and able to work at your own pace.
I found Professor to be a very pleasant man. There is a lot of work. Do the work you will pass. He gets a little confused when asking questions but I found out the best thing to do is have a one on one session.
Professor Taylor is very nice and he really cares about his students
He is an easy going professor. No specific deadlines for assignments so he allows you to work at your own pace.
You can work ahead on assignments. Extra credit is offered
you can work ahead in class everything due at the end of the semester extra credit given
extra credit given you can work ahead in class all assignments due end of semester
Great teacher
Wasn't much guidance for an online class, website was extremely confusing. The only positive is everything is due at the end so you can work ahead or at your own pace.
Mr. Taylor has a genuine interest in ensuring the course material is understood. Always available to clarify information. The study material and lectures are easy to understand.
Professor Taylor was great. I had a bit of difficulty navigating his online course but overall it wasnt horrible. He was very fair and gave you until the end of the semester to turn in your work.
Professor Taylor is experienced in chemistry.
Professor Taylor is a sweet man. He loves his job, almost as he loves chemistry. He is very passionate about teaching and wants every student to pass.
This professor is very attentive. Will help you if you need it and easy to pass this class. You literally have to try to fail to fail this class.
easy A, take him!!
Professor Taylor is very nice and has a passion for chemistry. He wants you to succeed and is always willing to help students do well in his class.
Assignments are pretty easy with unlimited attempts. The course was taken online and gave plenty of opportunities to raise your grade.
AWESOME PROFESSOR!
Professor Taylor provides the resources and opportunity to do well in his class.
You can really get the grade you want. quizzes are self explanatory . this was a very easy going course. I recommend him. would take again.
great lectures, records all of them.
I took a fully online class for spring. The work is pretty straight to the point, but the class is set up pretty crazy. It is very hard to understand what is actually due for a grade and what is extra credit. All the dates are messed up for things. He just all over the place with things.
I took chem with this professor,at first I was scared but the class was very easy, really hard not to pass
Everything was online. No weekly conferences. There were no due dates, everything is due at the end of the semester. Really have to balance out your time to stay on top of things. Lots of extra credit!! No reason to fail this class. Also you get multiple chances to redo work. You basically determine what kind of grade you want out this class
Loved him! He made this course available with enough extra credit that even if you were not good in chemistry you can still pass.
Professor Taylor is definitely the best professor to take for chemistry! I took chemistry and had to withdraw with another professor because it was too overwhelming with working full time. But he makes chemistry easy to understand. Lots of quizzes and tests, but its all due at the end of the semester so the grade is really up to you!
you get unlimited retakes on quizzes
Mr. Taylor offers a lot of extra credit and provides a pretty clear expectation of what you need to do to pass. I would take the him as a professor again.
There lots of quizzes. You have to really organize your time in this class. But, you get many chances and theirs extra credit available to help as well. He cares for his students.
Professor Taylor really cares for his students. He is an older gentleman and the pandemic/online courses have been an adjustment for him but I think he is doing the best he can especially at his age. He is looking forward to getting back into the classroom.
Does way too much for him to not make sense. Did not explain what was expected of us. Would not take it again. The class was a mess.
He was a awesome teacher very understanding and he made a difficult class do able .He gives a lot of extra credit and project to help improve your grade.
He's an amazing professor. His class was fun and very interesting. He will give you all of the tools that you need to succeed in his class. 10/10 would take again.
Took his class online and final grades off points. If you dont get an A then you just didnt do the work. Tons of extra credit which helps get u the points. Gives attendance points too! It can be overwhelming but stay on top of it and you will do just fine!
Professor Taylor is a great teacher. We accumulate points from the work we complete. He is very thorough on his lectures and is there to help you when needed. The class can be overwhelming in the beginning but once you get the hand of the class you will be just fine!
It was a seven week course. He cares about his students and will work with you. Since this is a shorten course you definitely have to manage your time to get the assignments done. He has make up quizzes for the chapter quizzes if you do not do so well. He is a great professor and would have him again if I needed.
He cares for his students. There are a lot of quizzes but he has a lot of video and games that help to understand better every topic. As an online chemistry course for 7 weeks, the work load was pretty heavy. But, you came get many chances to improve your grades and there is extra credit projects available to help as well.
He's is a genuinely good dude, who understands that chemistry may not necessarily be everyone's passion but his videos and lectures utilize many teaching methods. You can tell that he cares about how much each student "gets" from the course rather than how much we are willing to love chemistry. LOTS of work, but w/ reading and class, not hard.
He was a good guy, you can tell he love chemistry.. if youre like me and need things explained by more than a video, he probably isnt the right teacher for you. Im sure in person hes better but online it was a lot of self teaching. He does offer a lot of chances to make a good grade though.
I took the 12-week online class. There are about 5 quizzes per chapter and about 17 chapters. You have unlimited attempts and unlimited time. There is a bunch of extra credit. There are a few projects, but you do not have to do them if you have enough points.
Than you Mr. Taylor, for your professionalism and dedication, your advice help me to achieve not only on your class, in life too. Im going to PA school and if is a person that need to be there when I graduate is you, thank you for your unconditional support, my blessings to you and your family. PR in Jacksonville will make you proud always.
I took the 7 week coure and it was a hard A, I'm sure it would be yes over 14 weeks.
Lectures are very video heavy, lots of quizzes and projects. Prof Taylor genuinely cares about his students and is very accommodating, though, and the grading scale was far more than fair. As long as you show up to class, listen, and put in the time and effort to complete the assignments, you will pass.
Would definitely take a course with him again!
Professor Taylor was a great choice for chemistry
I already know what you're thinking. Remain calm and do the work (chip away consistently). The number of assignments (including tons of extra credit) is a gift; take advantage. You're welcome.
Assist to every class for grading, do your assignments on time so you wont get drowned. You will always have a chance to repeat the test and there is also no due dates for assignments.
I wouldnt take his class if youre going to be doing it online it was way to much for no reason
Super nice professor! He went the extra mile with my class to make sure we all understood the material and passed his class! He is homework heavy and quiz/test heavy! You definitely need to manage your time well to keep up with his class work!
This is by far one of the worst classes Ive taken, he just makes you watch videos during lecture time. He isnt quick to respond and communicates by texting when you are having trouble. If you ask questions during the online lectures, he says he will get to that and then never touches on it. I dropped the class to prevent an F.
GREAT CLASS
Overall a easy class. He also responds back quick which was a bonus for me.
I love the way he gives an outline for the assignments to make it clear about what needs to be completed.
The class was a strictly online class, so it was pretty much self-thought and was difficult. There was a lot of homework, but it can be done.
Do all of the required work and you will get an A!
Lots of quizzes, homework, and projects. The thing is, your grade is based on overall points instead of percentage of assignments. That's cool and all except it really is a lot of work to get the points needed, especially considering I took a shorter class. Overall, he is a great prof since he does provide plenty of extra credit and makeup work.
Chile this class is an easy A, thank god.
Professor Taylor is an awesome instructor. He gives a clear outline for the assignments. Additionally, he is caring as he wanted to help me with my Computer Science career. All assignments are due at the end, so you need to have time management. I recommend this class to anyone who wants to learn about Chemistry. Great Class!!!
BEST chem class ever. he was so nice and helpful. its teach yourself so you basically do all the assignments to get a certain amount of points. i loved this class 10/10 would recommend
This is by far the best Chem professor anyone could choose. I was scared to even take the class online. Class is so easy to pass. I couldn't of done this with any other professor. Rate him 10 out of 10
Make sure you keep up with the projects
Professor Taylor is a nice person, but there are no due dates which may seem good but his class is unorganized. Also, if you do not join class meetings your grade will drop. He also NEVER responds. I would not recommend this professor, especially if you like to be organized.
This professor knows his material but sometimes it is hard to understand. Maybe because the subject matter is difficult. He is compassionate and fair in his grading. Show up to class and try and you will pass.
You have to teach yourself the entire class.
The class was okay
Canvas layout is very overwhelming (includes a lot of extra stuff that isn't necessary), but he will go through and explain what needs to be done if you ask. A lot of assignments, but all very simple once explained. Lenient grading. All assignments due at end of semester so plenty of time to get everything done. A little slow to grade stuff.
ONLINE WAS NOT A GOOD FIT FOR THIS CLASS, NOT WITH THIS PROFESSOR AT LEAST. He had good intentions, but it was hard to watch the classes and be focused.
Professor is unorganized with canvas layout and submits additional assignments not on the grading list. Attendance is mandatory or those grades alone will not let you pass. Goes off topic quite frequently and teaches through educational videos versus actual knowledge of the subject.
Great class/ teacher! Youve got to purposely try and not pass to fail. Majority of work is online. Professor Taylor was very accessible and reliable outside of class.
Dont take this class please.
Chemistry is a hard course, but this professor does everything to make sure you can succeed. It's possible to earn a good grade but you HAVE to put the work in. There is a lot of material to cover so plan accordingly, and STUDY STUDY STUDY. This professor does not want to see you fail and has many opportunities for retakes and extra credit.
Great professor, the assignments are the very do-able, not overwhelming like most.
Professor was an experienced teacher. But not much teaching throughout the semester. He basically just plays videos/lectures the entire class. Does not really answer a lot of questions. Alot of assignments. but very easy to manage. Very Easy A if you ask me.
A lot of work. A lot of assignments. He gives you time to complete but It's a lot of work
The class is an easy A but be sure to set aside alot of time to do the projects he assigns. There were only three big projects to do. The class is basically your own pace. there is alot of extra credit so thats always a plus. Attendance is important because you might need those points to get that A. I would take again.
Prof Taylor's class is basically a teach yourself class. Lots of videos with quizzes, vocabulary and chapter tests. He does provide plenty of opportunities for extra credit. He makes it very clear though, that he truly wants his students to succeed. The course is very homework heavy but tests were open book which was a life saver.
Easy class. Learned a lot. Great for people who need a flexible schedule.
10/10 Dont recommend. The class is very unorganized and has no due dates. There is a ton of work and he doesnt do any online lectures or put a post about what each week will look like and what assignments to do. In canvas all of his assignments are everywhere. they arent listed in order and are very confusing when trying to find a certain one
So, its not bad. You basically teach yourself. If you do all the homework, exams, quizzes youll have an easy A. But he wont be there to remind you, you go at your own pace so its easy to fall back. I found it pretty easy to do the work on my own. Him as a teacher isnt good but the class was easy.
A lot of quizzes within each module. Did not give due dates for completely online class so you have to learn how to manage your time. Overall, he makes chemistry easier than most professors, and if you need an easy chemistry class to pass this one is a solid choice.
Very good professor, his assignments were easy and manageable. I was able to get in contact when I needed to as well.
Amazing professor, i was not well with chem but his class made it easy for me.
You have unlimited retries on everything which is very helpful. He is not the most organized teacher but he def wants everyone to pass. Failing his class is hard to do. He does take awhile to get back to email. So MUCH extra credit. He does grade attendance. A lot of work but easy A.
pretty good. expect a lot of homework
Given multiple tries on all exams, tons of extra credit options. For our class we only had 3 projects and one of them was just a movie and review basically. The class was simple and easy to understand how it all worked, all and all solid teacher would recommend for anyone taking chemistry.
Prof Taylor is certainly passionate about chem. Pretty easy class but I would have rather taken in person as opposed to online, I think I would have learned much more. I dreaded the projects but I actually ended up enjoying them a lot. Most assignments due at the end of the course. Good time management and you will succeed.
This class was very difficult because of the last lectures he was in the hospital. However, since the beginning, the modules were filled with a lot of work. I feel the work he put in was meant for a regular class or a B12, not a seven-week that we had.
Professor Taylor was sick and out of work for most of my class, but he set up the course on Canvas so that anyone could succeed. If you are not willing to work for your grade, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. I spent minimum 6 hours a week on this class. There are tons of quizzes, videos, and projects. The course itself was not hard, just be motivated.
Professor Taylor class was online and as long as you put the work in and do the extra credits. You can pass his class with a good grade. Professor Taylor had gotten sick and was out but he was still in touch with the class and had a substitute. I would definitely recommend his class.
Great professor and he answer emails in a timely manner very understanding
Taylor is an easy grader, and he offers a lot of extra credit points. He is very forgiving and wants to work with you. He has a points based system that makes it easy for you to pass.
This professor is older in age, so he is not very tech savvy. You will have lot of literally paper packets for homework. We didn't do any labs just lectures. He is easy though. Many of the quizzes were online.
Very easy and gives you the answers on the quizzes.
Hes a good professor, hes caring and easy-going. Would take again and recommend to others.
He's old, not very tech savy and will not respond to email, text or any form of communication.
I love taking the class online , but the class itself is all over the place , but once you figure out it the class is easy . Responds to emails fast
Professor Taylor was a great teacher, He was missing for the first couple of weeks due to health issues, But when he came back .He was very understanding of any problems the students had. He gives out plenty of homework but not to the point where its unbearable, Stay organized and attend to the lectures. I would definitely take his class again.
John Taylor is a awesome teacher. Even though he was out for Covid he stayed in contact with his students. Even though he gives out tons a paper the classes are easy. I would recommend him to any students that need to take chemistry. All you have to do is go to class and do the assignments. He definitely gives out a lot of extra credit.
Follow the syllabus and do the work and you'll learn and have an A. A lot of packets and work to do but if you just do the work there's no reason you can't pass.
My class was strictly online 7 weeks. The material goes by quickly but there are several opportunities for students to gain points in order to make their A or B.
Lots of opportunities to get the grade you want based on points.
This Professor was not there for first 5 weeks of class. off-topic, was very confusing and would end class almost an hour sometimes late even. I reached out to him several times through the student portal, and never got any replies. I felt TRAPPED! Did conference with him He yelled at me while others (My proof) We had a full-on yelling match
Very good class but you will stay busy with lots of work. Good thing is you will gain much knowledge.
Not very clear on what he wants done, or very organized. This class will be more teaching yourself if that's something you prefer but the material was a lot to figure out to do so.
If you arent science savy or a self starter, dont take this course. Its 100% self taught. The professor is nice and gives a ton of opportunities to contact him for office hours. There are no deadlines so Its easy to let the work pile up. This class could be a dream come true or a nightmare for you depending on your work style
Great Chemistry teacher. Very helpful throughout the course. Explained things in detail making it simple to learn. Very understanding with his student's personal life. FSCJ is lucky to have him. Great knowledge on the subject & cares about his students. Follow the syllabus and you'll do well. Attendance and labs are mandatory. Highly recommend.
very easy class. a lot of homework but is an easy A.
semi easy class lots of reading / teaching yourself I wish he would have had YouTube videos for us to watch so I could understand better for each chapter. super nice teacher!!
Lots of homework/tests. Attendance is mandatory and lectures are based on study packs. If you have a lot of free time and put in the work, this is an easy A. But if your time is limited, be ready to get overwhelmed with homework and test/quizzes. He does give a lot of extra credit but provides little explanation on how to do the projects assigned.
I like Prof. Taylor and respect that despite his age, he loves to teach and loves chemistry! I was very skeptical myself after reading other ratings, but I wanted to try him out for myself. He does talk a lot, but he knows his stuff. Be ready for lectures out of the book and his study guides are heavy but helpful.
He is a kind man with cool life stories but there are mandatory and optional assignments but unclear instructions about which is which and when they are due. His syllabus was from last year and he wouldn't fix it. Little guidance in this class and even less help when it comes to clearing confusion.
Very nice guy. He has random stories during lecture. Attendance is very important and must attend for points. Syllabus is outdated. What he doesn't tell you is all assignments will not need to be completed. You will complete assignments totaling in the number of points that he requires.
Professor Taylors class was open book that was the only thing that made the class do able. There were no due dates on any assighnments everything just had to be completed before the last day of class. we pretty much taught ourselves and never opened the book in class EVER.
He was incredibly unorganized this semester and gave no clear directions on what was due or when. He did not teach during class about specific topics but rambled about his personal life and whatever else he wanted to talk about. He made us buy a lab manual we didn't use even once. Overall, a nice man but did not know how to teach.
professor really cares if you pass this class and gives you unlimited tries to try to pass, he wants you to succeed in life and is very understanding if life pops up.. I highly recommend him
Dont expect him to teach you,you teach yourself.Syllabus is overloaded w/useless info.please please don't bother trying to understand it. If you need an easy course and the chem credit, he is the professor for u.If you want a deeper understanding of chemistry then this is not the professor for you. You pick and choose what assignments u want to do
Lots of homework, but overall a good teacher!
I think he may have been a great professor before but I found his class to be a bit confusing. The syllabus and the study packs were not it. I did live classes. The class was just all over the place. Too much confusion.
it's a self-taught class with lots of ways to get extra credit he doesn't go by grade %he grades on #of points so if your %reads 87 and your points are an A you have that A the way his canvas is set up too much information. he's def not tech or online savvy but if you choose him as a teacher it's an easy day an easy A that's just my opinion.
This was a great class. Teacher was very understanding and allowed each student time to get work done.
A lot of work but some of it is optional and you have the ability to earn extra credit. He is a little confusing and unorganized but would take again.
amazing class and amazing professor
Some instructions for the projects were a smidge unclear, but overall, I enjoyed the assignments available early. Especially with my schedule it makes it easier to get ahead of my workload.
Professor Taylor was nice enough but my goodness is he scattered. He is not technologically savvy at all which makes his lectures harder to follow and understand. One thing I greatly appreciate is that he offers lots of extra credit. Be aware that not all assignments are mandatory.
Professor Taylor is a very kind teacher and I would take his class again.
DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE IF YOU WANT TO LEARN ANYTHING! if you just need the science credit then take this class, but i am a science major so this has literally destroyed my basis for understanding all my following classes. if you want to learn absolutely nothing and listen to him rant for three hours about his wife take this class.
Don't take this class unless you are ready to do most of the learning on your own and without help. He uses lots of videos for teaching and is not tech savvy, so when you have class, you can't hear anything in the videos. I just made sure to complete the assignments so my grade would be decent. Attendance is mandatory and part of your grade.
THESE REVIEWS ARE NOT ACCURATE! he gives extra credit if you rate him on here DO NOT DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS mr. taylor is deaf and senile and you wont get one single clear answer from him. grading and sylabbus unclear and he never takes up any work. we have one week left of class and the only grades in are attendance. DONT DO IT
Overall this professor is great. A little unorganized in the first week or so that's all. Attendance is not mandatory only graded an A is still easily achievable with out the attendance grade. The syllabus is very clear and there are multiple opportunities for extra credit.
Professor Taylor is a decent professor. His class is all over the place, and is unorganized. Everything is unproctored on the bright side. Attendance is mandatory.
Professor Taylor Passion is definitely Science. The workload is a little tedious but manageable. Communication response time could be approved although independent teaching and multitasking is needed of student.
He is pretty unorganized, I was lost the whole semester but he helped me a lot at the end to catch me up. Good hearted person just a very out there personality
vey nice understanding teacher great work ethic
If you need a good chem class that keeps you busy, this is a great course. He makes sure that you have the answers to the questions and different ways of teaching.
Not a challenging class and if definitely an easy grade if you do your work.
First of all I get extra credit for submitting this review which is why I am doing it. This class is entirely online and the syllabus is really unclear. It says some (or most??) of the assignments are "optional" so I have no idea if I've completed all the required work. He doesn't respond to emails. However if you do the work it should be an easy A
If you do the work you will pass the class.
He was very difficult to follow and would say that he had previously assigned homework that had never been mentioned. He isn't technologically savvy and is very slow to answer any attempts to reach out. Any material shown in class is meant to be supplementary but he uses it as the main lecture, so nothing is ever properly explained.
If this class is required for you, I suggest not taking it. He talks about anything other than the class itself. Shares more about his life then teaching the information. I will say it is an easy A as long as you make sure you turn work in. Gives 30 pts for coming to class, most quizzes are open book. But again you are not learning anything.
When I took this class it was a completely online class, so there was no scheduled class meetings. I felt like I was provided with everything I needed to help me best succeed. There is a lot of assignments but as long as you stay on top of it, you will receive an easy A. Overall a good experience.
Lots of assignments, do not take this class if you don't have some level of understanding of chemistry. Professor would not respond to calls/emails/texts and assignments have not been graded. The way the class is designed is confusing and a lot of unnecessary things were floating around. This class has not been worth taking so far, unfortunately.
He's been very nice but seems to be a bit technologically behind. A bit hard with the online course I am taking.
Good class but had to teach most of the material to myself.
Professor Taylor is a conversationalist. Do not have high expectations to get much directly from him. Unorganized. You will learn much of your chemistry from the material he leaves via videos and chemistry websites. Most of the work you do will be online. If you stay up on your work on canva you shouldn't have a problem passing his class.
hybrid class. you will come to class for attendance but most of the homework, labs, packages are online or done at home.
I want to start by saying professor Taylor is a very sweet man. Unfortunately, I did not learn a single thing in this class. He uses the entire hour and 45 minutes of our class period to talk about his personal life. If you're trying to get into the nursing program, DO NOT TAKE HIM for the sake of your HESIA2 score.
The professor is a great teacher, a lot of homework is given, challenging testing, extra credit is given if needed. Also their were no deadline given for homework but must be completed before class has end.
With this class be ready to work on your own. A lot of reading and understanding that has to be done on your own. Professor knows a lot about chemistry but is disorganized with his work. Its possible to do well in class.
Overall, he is a great person. but his teaching is all over the place, he is very unorganized and there are no clear due dates unless he tells you in class, you get points for attendance. you go at your own pace with everything. It's really an easy A you just don't learn anything. I took my hesi a2 and got a 40% I didn't learn anything tbh.
Professor Taylor is very disorganized. No due dates, all on your won time but still requires you to come in for attendance. Very lenient however does not respond to any email or messages you send to him. You have to physically talk to him and even that can be hard at times cause he is hard of hearing as well. Be patient and you'll pass his class.
His flexibility with turn in dates allowed me to be successful hopefully as I work full time and have a two-year-old daughter. He made this "harder" class for me doable and I owe the success to him as well as myself.
You have to teach yourself; he has every assignment online idk why it's not an online class because we don't do any class work in class totally waste of gas, but he is a very easy teacher, very nice, if you do the work and show up for class you will pass easy A+.
He was not very organized this semester for the accelerated class. He didn't have an updated syllabus for the class so I needed to figure it out for myself initially, and I got a little behind. Thankfully due dates were very flexible so I was able to catch up with where I needed to be. A lot of his links didn't work anymore.
This is a good professor, he is understanding and is willing to help you, he is very encouraging and caring. If you are having any problems just reach out to him and he is willing to help.
professor treat students like people, not numbers; goes beyond their call of. duty in terms of helping students and holding office hours; they not only know their material, but they also know how to teach it well. They understand the student and concerns
please post an updated syllabus at the beginning of class be more organized, communicate better
be ready to read/must be good with computer
Good professor, sometimes forgetful and long winded. Good stories and a lot of information!
Honestly, I wouldn't recommend this professor. For the entire semester Professor Taylor did not respond to a single email or grade any assignments. He hadn't had any type of communications with the students until the last week of class. The workload is a bit much, but its not terrible.
Do the work you will pass. I wish the project instructions were more simpler and to the point. Overall good class
Professor Taylor was awesome! I was concerned going into this class as I am not a science major and I have not taken Chem since high school however, he made his class very easy to follow. All the course work was due at the end of the semester so it is really at your own pace. Would definitely take again 10/10!
Easy class. Just make sure to do everything. Always willing to give extension dates.
He would be better as an online professor than in person. Everything is learned via canvas and online.
The class itself is fairly decent, All of the work is done at home, but he has gotten old, and it reflects in his lectures. He often rambles about things that are only tangentially related to chemistry or complains about his condition. He can barely hear and can only see out of one eye, and will also often forget to print out enough materials.
One thing you should know about Mr. Taylor is that he is always there to help you out on an any assignment that he has assigned. He very generous and very easy to understand how his class works.
I took a 6 week online class. He is a great professor but there is to much work for 6 wks. He however does not give due dates so pace yourself you do not want to be stuck doing all of the assignments at the last minute because it is a lot. He is not tech savvy and the course is a little unorganized but overall I enjoyed this class. It is an easy A!
There are a lot of assignments and you will have to work on your own. There are no meetings/lectures. If you love to work on your own this is the class to take. He is easy to reach outside of class (via email/phone).
Professor Taylor is an amazing professor. I would take another one of his courses
Professor gives a lot of work, but it was very manageable. I would take another one of his courses again.
Super nice to be a breeze to get through the course when it was mandated for the program I am going into (especially since this college has been nothing but a nightmare due to not allowing transfer credits and throwing new classes in my way that were never mentioned prior to me starting). Nice to be able to get it done without stressing.
this class did require a lot of reading and work, but the professor offers so many chances for extra credit to help those boost up their grade. I enjoyed the class.
Professor Taylor was a decent professor. It was overall not a super hard class, no proctored final exam. Would probably take him again
This class does have a lot of reading and videos to watch, but the professor is very helpful and gives options for extra credit.
Professor Taylor is very easy going and passionate about the subject of chemistry. He provides a lot of resources to ensure that the class grasps the subject quickly. I appreciated that the book came with the online course. However if you do not have a book his study packs are a great substitute. Attendance isn't mandatory, but don't procrastinate!
Posted a million announcements completely unrelated to class and was very unorganized. As someone who has ADHD, all of my other professors have been able to offer structure with clear instructions and due dates but he was unable to do so. If you don't struggle with organization, I think you'd do okay. I didn't do well, but I passed!
