This is your typical college level math course, homework, quizzes, etc are worth next to nothing and then tests are about 70% of your grade. Professor Theado does his best to explain things and genuinely cares about his students. At the end of the semester he will do whats possible to try and improve your grade also.
Very nice and caring professor but can NOT teach precalc & Trig. With precalc & trig, you need to be clear and concise and I felt that many time he lacked this which made multiple students beyond frustrated. Not all teachers are suitable for that type of material
Although I made it out of the class with an A, the grade was solely due to my work outside of class. There's lots of SmartLab assignments, which make the class itself easy. In lecture, however, Professor Theado went back and forth on concepts making his lectures confusing. He does care about his students, but his teaching styles did not click well.
He's still learning his teaching style, but he's very appreciative of student feedback as long as students are kind about it. He posts the chapter notes in case you miss lecture or need to review them. Grading is very clear and he's very helpful during office hours.
He is new so his teaching style was off at times but he tries his best to explain and is helpful. Lots of smartlab assignments (which help), but for the most part he drops 4 hw grades, quiz grades and smart lab grades. Final is also optional. This class is def passable if you just put in the work.
Great professor. Really cares about his students. The notes are really good and accessible online. Always ready to help.
Prof. Theado's lecture style did not teach me much over the semester. I personally found them confusing, but I can admit I struggle with math. That being said, he absolutely cares and makes it possible to pass. All his notes are available online, he frequently offers extra resources for help, and is readily available at the required SMART lab.
Very kind and tries his hardest to make sure everyone understands. Lecture heavy because it is math but he is available to help outside of class. Main grades are MyLabsPlus and attendance plus 4 exams. If you pay attention and do the work you'll pass, he gives extra credit for practice exams and drops some grades.
I had theado for my precalc class and hated it. He was super hard to reach outside of class, and when you did get ahold of him he acted like he had somewhere else to be 24/7. He moves really fast during lecture so you have to pay attention and has you do these group projects once a month or so which are mandatory. Personally wouldn't take him again
I have always struggled with math and I was able to get an A in this class. Theado is a swell guy who tries his best to make sure students are helped and understand and he is very lenient and is willing to work with you. The exams are worth a lot but you get two attempts and a drop at the end. Just do the work and you will be just fine!
I absolutely love Professor Theado. He gave a lot of extensions on deadlines, especially since we were all online due to the virus. He really, genuinely cares about his students and will do everything to help you pass. Just pay attention, do the work (which is minimal), and you'll get an A no problem.
The professor gives a lot of extra credit and make up work but its crucial that you keep up with the work because its a lot of homework a week. The teacher has little time during lecture to explain and he goes off topic so you might have to learn the material yourself, but other than one unit, the units are easy to self learn.
Professor Theado is a good choice. With little time to teach during online lectures, he still managed to make the material easy to understand. He gives a lot of extra credit opportunities and drops your lowest grades. Very fair teacher and the course work is not too heavy. He does seem temperamental at times but nothing unwarranted.
He's a mediocre professor. His lectures were very dull which makes it very easy to lose focus on the lecture, however, he is very generous with extra credit so earning a good grade is not much of an issue.
I've only been in class for the last 1 month but I must say that Professor John is an awesome teacher and really wants you to succeed. He gives a lot of chances to get things straight and doesn't try to intimidate students. His lectures are better than the most (currently, he's the only teacher I can understand).
This class is a very easy class, yet the professor is the one that makes it harder than it should be. He can NOT explain anything, so be ready to teach yourself EVERYTHING. There is a lot of work for this class, but its all super manageable. I do not recommend taking this class with this professor if you are someone who needs a lot of guidance.
oh my god. this class is the easiest thing ever, i have no doubt in my mind that anyone could pass if they do the work but prof theado rambles on about pure nothing. he constantly goes off track, he constantly gets lost in his own math, and the entire class is just not able to understand. also he doesnt answer any emails but gives lots of leeway.
If you tend to get concepts quickly youre not gonna like his class, he repeats himself a lot without explaining in depth. The homework teaches you how to do it as you go, no need to show up to class. Hes passive aggressive and very disorganized. Grades and assignment deadlines were always unclear.
His lectures can be very boring, but as long as you keep up with the work and attend his lectures you should be fine. All exams are done in the library, and there are four chapters, each section having a homework and a quiz with unlimited attempts. Would take again if I had to.
Super easy for a gen ed. All I did was go to lectures and then I could easily complete the homework and quizzes. It's mostly like middle-school level math so super easy. He was really lenient with deadlines and it was a light workload anyways. Definitely reccomend.
there was a lot of hw and quizzes but its not hard to stay on track. the attendance quizzes were usually just a question about the lecture concept so that was the attendance credit regardless of whether you actually went. the prof can be disorganized but the leniency makes up for it.
Professor Theado is an awesome professor for Discrete Structures he understands a college students feeling and give a lots of extra credit. Tip: STAY ON PACE. If you snooze you loose.
Mr. Theado is literally one of the best teachers I have ever taken during among all online courses. He gave good explanation about the exams and quizzes, and he also sometimes extendeded the due date too. Highly recommended you to take COT3100 with him!!! Hes the goat of Discrete Structures
He is very helpful himself does a bunch of tutoring sessions to help students. He wants you to succeed in this course.
Personally I would not recommend this professor. The homework didn't match up to the exams. His lectures are very long and drawn out, not always matching up to the book.
overall a great professor. if you apply yourself, you will do great. lectures are so important. the topics are kinda confusing and challenging because you are pretty much learning an entirely new math concept.
I took Finite Math with Theado. All assignments were submitted with Pearson and most were easy to get 100% because you can retake them. He drops the lowest exam score and is accessible and flexible. The problem is that he doesn't speak clearly or concisely. He doesn't explain the material very well. It's very basic stuff otherwise.
Dr. Theado mumbles and can be very hard to understand. He goes off topic and rambles on about things that have to do with math but not specifically about the subject matter so it isn't helpful. He always said he would be more strict about extending due dates, however after those talks he we would often receive an email that he did extend it.
Hands down the worst Professor Ive ever had. Said himself he hates public speaking and gets awkward. He rambled in circles over and over and makes no sense, not giving clear info. He does not respond to emails and barely has time for questions in class. I have never dreaded a class so much. HW is easy bc you get unlimited attempts. I dont reccomm
Prof. Theado taught so well that I still use his notes for other similar classes.
He refuses to excuse COVID absences, said it's not his job to ensure his students learn the material and are passing (as an aspiring teacher this is incorrect), and his lectures are useless. He regurgitate the book and sometimes tries to hold class over its end time. There is no reason why attendance should be mandatory. Take this class online.
This guy is tragically terrible. He reads his slides which are practically a carbon copy the the textbook. He made us get a $50 iclicker with a $15 subscription so he could take attendance and his lectures are drier than tomb and about as cheerful. If you can avoid him, do so.
Would not recommend. Professor Theado did a good job explaining content with his lecture slides, but the exams were difficult with a lot of content on them in comparison to the webassign homework. The mandatory attendance as part of your grade and the iclickers made for a very stressful semester amid chronic health issues.
probably my least favorite professor ive had at USF so far. complains about people talking (quietly) in his class even tho lectures are more boring than being stuck in 10 mph traffic behind a senior citizen while simultaneously watching paint dry. claims to be bad with crowds even tho HE'S A PROFESSOR. to be fair, this course is very boring anyways
This class is brutal. The exams are nothing like the WebAssign. He gives no extra credit and assigns too much questions during the exam. His lectures are incredibly boring and messy, especially his lecture slides. He doesn't allow a cheat sheet like most professors. My grade tanked with this last exam so please choose someone else if possible.
What some of the other students are saying is partly true. It was a bad move on his part to do the whole clicker thing. What YOU as a prospective student need to understand is that this class is actually HARD. Do your homework EARLY and stay on top of the material. Test 3 is astronomically hard, test 2 is fairly hard, and test 1 is easy. Good luck.
It's obviously math, so the lectures aren't very interesting, but he explains everything very well and is clearly very passionate about math. He provides some wiggle room with missed assignments and exams. There is 2 hours a week required in the smart lab, which was the most tedious part of this class.
Discrete math/structures is already hard for most. Yet, Theado manages to make it worse. He'll literally introduce a new topic in 1 slide and give an extremely difficult example after. Progressive overload is nonexistent here. Don't bother looking at the slides because it's very convoluted. Exams are brutal and the class average shows that.Skip him
I took this course for a required math credit. It certainly was not the most difficult class in the world, but the work was tedious at times. Attendance is mandatory and no consideration is given. If you email him for an extension he simply will not reply. He's not the most personable guy, but he can be likable. Overall, perfectly mediocre class.
Dr. Theado explains very well. I learned a lot from his class. He also gives extra credit for all exams. Lectures may sometimes get boring, but discrete math is boring everywhere :)
Dr. Theado makes attendance mandatory but his lectures are word for word from the slides. Everything he says could be studied on your own and he provides no additional information during class. Tests are extremely curved which makes the class easy enough, but with how boring his lectures are you will have to study the material on your own.
If you complete your SMART Lab hours, come to class and sit through the boring lectures, you will do fine. Theado is not good at responding to emails and has disregarded multiple of mine. If you want to talk to Theado, be prepared to have your conversation during his SMART LAB hours.
Rambles a lot in class, but teaches you what you need to know in those 50 minutes. Very well organized and planned with his schedule and it's always up to date in canvas. You will need an i-clicker for class attendance. Smart lab is required, but you can just quiz out of hours for the week. Easy overall
Theado is a super nice guy, albeit a little weird. Took him for Finite. Hard to stay awake during lectures, and the mandatory smart lab hours suck, but if you can get past that, you will make an A.
Professor Theado is definitely challenging for Discrete Math, but as long as you go to class, take notes, and do the homeworks you will be fine. He provides at least 20 extra credit points on exams because they are definitely challenging. He's very knowledgeable, only complaint is that he makes you buy a clicker for class and can be boring at times
overall good professor. he made things very clear while teaching in class and if someone was confused he made sure to explain until they understood.
Professor Theado was a good professor. He could come off as rude in the way that he offers no extra credit or extensions on assignments. However, he offers many drops for the class, meaning that a lot of attendance, homework, quizzes, and even an exam will get dropped at the end of the semester. It is very hard to fail this class.
Hated the clicker thing. He's honestly not as bad as some reviews say. Not a people pleaser, but he's alright. Easy class with easy concepts, just do the work and you should be fine. Don't expect a buddy though, he'll just do what he has to do which is lecture.
Although the content of this course is hard, JT does his best to teach it. He is flexible with accommodations for certain circumstances and his presentation slides are easy enough to follow. He comes off strict during syllabus week but as long as you do your part you'll get an A. Lectures were boring but attendance was mandatory.
Course is a bit lecture-heavy, and can be drawn out and a bit boring at times. He gives ample time for HW, and gives many cushions for grading. Tells you question for the question what's on the tests, and gives 120 point test that's graded out of 100. Prior knowledge of statistics is recommended. Take notes, do the HW and pay attention to pass.
Mr. Theado only lectures and tends to go on about things not relevant to the class or you'll even hear "but I won't test you on this" said alot. Asking questions is hard as he often gets frustrated and gives rude responses. Very few items are in the grade book. And I mean like 8 things so each and everyone counts a large amount toward your grade.
He is extremely rude and gets distracted so easily then just rants about it. When asked to go back a couple slides he throws a massive fit and gets angry. Also, cannot teach and the class is extremely boring and the exams and homework he gives is just a waste of time and he gives no help at all. Terrible teacher and extremely rotten to students.
Discrete structure is so easy but can be tough. up to 20-30 pts extra credit on each exam, so that will give you opportunity to make up your pts lost. 3 exams whole semester and final not cumulative. First easy, second average, and final is very tough, average was 98/83/73. Study his lecture slides and some hw then you will do fine on exam.
Lectures are mostly Powerpoint slides but they're very understandable. Attendance is *technically* mandatory but not enforced, and is graded through Canvas check-ins. I was able to learn the content by going through the slides and doing the MyLab and Mastering work while I was doing SMART lab hours, which are graded and 2 hours per week.
I think it might have been more the state requirements of this class bringing us down, but this professor really seemed out of his depth. Required to spend 2 hrs a week in the SMARTLAB, condescending, and overall many of the worst parts of college present in this class. If you can somehow avoid this class and especially this professor, do it.
I really like his class. It is super easy and requires little effort. His lecture is mostly through slides, but it is very understandable. Also, he was always available to answer any questions I had, and they were always really thorough with detailed explanations and examples.
Very lecture heavy and in order to get a good grade in the class you need to do extra research on the side. Just reads off slides and doesn't provide anything to the students except the PowerPoint he uses in class. Lots of homework that is harder than the exam itself and only has like 10 things in the gradebook so everything is weighed heavily.
SMART lab required. You could honestly teach yourself the material. Occasional attendance quizzes posted a couple hours before class but he does TEAMS too. He is pretty strict with late stuff it seems but he is always willing to help and answer questions.
Homework really helps and the slides and the presentation he gives in the class is all that we have to read.
He is a available outside class to help. Even though the lectures might get boring, just learning from the slides will help a lot. Exams are easy and have a lot of extra credit in them. Not leaving stuff until the last minute is the trick for this class and just attending lectures is more than enough of understanding to get a A
Attendance is done through quizzes posted on Canvas, so you don't have to attend the lectures in-person to get those points. Exams are easy because there is always 20-25 points of extra credit in the exams. He will give you 100% on HW as long as you do >90% of them.
Theado was an okay professor. He's very knowledgeable about the material and is available to answer questions you have but the lectures are really boring. Attendance is done through quizzes on Canvas. Homework is relatively easy, is tedious at times, and you get a 100% if you do >90% of it. Lots of extra credit is on the exam. Overall easy class.
The class was easy, and I got As on every exam with minimal studying. Attendance for this class was technically mandatory, but you take a quiz on Canvas to get points. He does not respond to emails and rarely grants extensions. You will need to teach yourself the material since he only reads slides during class. A little mean but the class was easy
Don't expect to be able to reach him outside of class. Won't answer any emails. If you have questions you have to ask in class. Quizzes and exams aren't that bad, but lectures are just him reading through his boring slides.
He understands this class is difficult. It is easily "passible" and though some students said he was a bad professor (disliked his lectures), they were primarily composed of proofs and terminology. I don't know how else one could efficiently teach Discrete Math. This class relies heavily on theory, probability, summations, graph and set theory.
I like Dr. Theado's teaching style, and thoroughly understood most of the material he taught. The class is a long lecture, but I believe he uses the time wisely and always offers to answer any questions. The one downside of this class is that you're required to spend 2 hours in the SMART Lab for points. Besides that, I didn't mind this class.
He is not good at explaining the content. He overcomplicates the content and it becomes even more confusing. I ended up having to re-teach the class to a bunch of my friends in the class with me. The class teaches really basic math concepts that most poeple already learn in high school but the way he teaches it makes it so complicated.
Average. Lectures were not interesting and he does online recordings of his classes. He was accessible outside of class and was an average professor. Would not take again due how uninteresting the lectures were. The homework was done in the SMART LAB which was ok if you like it.
Professor John Theado class wasn't the easiest. The class was very exam heavy with a total percentage of 54%. It also has the SMART LAB component which entails you having to get a total of two hours a week in the library. The class was okay overall, if your not good at the exams he drops one exam however, it doesn't really help much.
The worst professor I have ever taken at USF. He doesn't give practice tests. Gives a lot of homework. Doesn't warn about homework due dates. It doesn't round grades. He isn't reachable outside of class and is condescending during class lectures. Tests are utter nonsense and have wordy questions. Skip him if you can.
He never responded to emails and is only available one day a week outside class. He doesn't teach; he just reads the slides. The slides are posted and easy to learn from. He doesn't do a good job explaining when you're lost. Mandatory 2 hours a week in the Smart Lab, and you must take the quizzes there. Easy if you understand the material.
as long as you study and do all the homework you'll get a good grade.
Lacks email skills and is not willing to help students. Believes that he is smarter than the entire class and will continue to make you feel that way. If you can teach yourself throughout this class, than I would suggest that.
If you're not mathematically inclined, I'd suggest reviewing his slides in teams before any major tests. The 2 hours of MathLab a week helps but it sucks that it's mandatory as it messed with my scheduling. Lots of random assignments at the start that many probably learned in highschool. Attendance is required but I'd go through teams if available.
Dr Theado is very smart but his attitude was what threw me off. He would unnecessarily lecture us if even one person's phone makes a gentle ping. He was so monotonous it's hard to stay awake. His slides are better than him, though. Gives 20 extra credit points in exams. I've heard he takes attendance in-person during Spr. 24 - not so for my batch.
Be prepared to experience constant tantrums and random call outs if you disturb his important lectures. Oh by the way if you were wondering how the exams are it's a 50/50 coin flip based on if the TA is feeling nice or not, you can have the same answer as someone and still be given less points. Have fun!
Professor Theado, is one that lectures based off exactly what is on his slides. He is very clear (though he may go on tangents) and direct, and as long as you pay attention and attend My Lab hours you will get an A.
Professor Theado explains the class content through slides in-depth and precisely. One issue with him is that his lectures are very boring and consist of him reading off his slides in a very monotonous way. Also, he has an apparent lack of people skills and he would get distracted and triggered by minor things. Many students felt he was rude.
Knowledgeable but almost robotic in lectures. No warmth or emotion at all in his personality which makes lectures very boring. Very condescending towards students on multiple occasions. Might be a fine professor to take for upper-level courses, but I would avoid taking him for this class unless absolutely necessary.
MGF1106 is such an easy course. Prof Theado is very simple, no curveballs. Lots of hw though, expect to be at the smart lab for long hours. But it is easy to work ahead so theres that benefit too. Halfway through fall, he switched to all online instead of in person, I wasn't mad. You can pass the test from teaching yourself on the HW.
Don't recommend it. It could have been worse, but he is horrible at explaining in his lectures, passed almost with a B. If you are naturally good with math, it could be easy enough for you, but if it isn't your strong suit I don't recommend it!
No practice exams. Lots of homework. Boring lectures. Condescending to students. Speaks with no emotion.
The worst professor USF has ever hired. He was very condescending to students, being rude and interrupting class for 10 straight minutes over a phone's notification. His exams are psychological torture (with no practice exams, so you have to guess what's on). There's an attendance quiz in every class. Massive amounts of HW with no reminders at all.
I did not like his teaching style. He only read off of the slides he had up. Attendance was mandatory but going to his classes did help to understand the homework sometimes. My friend and I basically taught ourselves this course. Do the homework and do well on the quizzes and tests and you'll pass the class.
Attendance is not exactly mandatory as you can just watch the recorded lecture video he provides. Won't matter regardless, as he speaks in riddles. Reads off slides that are terribly made. No practice exams or guidelines to help study. Your only resource is hw and the 1-2 quizzes he gives before exams. As others said, you teach the course yourself.
He's the biggest snowflake I have ever witnessed. Soft and easily triggered by the most simple things.
Absolutely the worst professor Ive ever had. If you can do not pick this professor for discrete structures. He also does not answer emails so you have show up in person at his lectures for questions
HEAVY stutter. doesn't teach. taught myself the class. avoid this professor
Theado is a very stringent person, very exact in everything he does to the point of being exasperating. Exams and the mini-project are graded very harshly. In lecture, he can go off on tangents explaining a student's question for 10 minutes, which should have taken 30 seconds max. You're better off reading the textbook - better use of your time.
I only went to one lecture the entire semester. I learned everything from youtube and practicing with the homework. As long as you somewhat understand everything on the homework you should do fine on his tests which usually have some sort of curve. The content is not that difficult but his lectures are very boring and slow.
There was a lot of hw and 4 exams with one being the final exam. Mr. Theado was a lecture-heavy professor but very willing to explain concepts further to students if asked. He reminded us about and encouraged going to office hours. Just listen in class, do the homework, study, and you'll be fine. I'm also bad at math but it wasn't bad guys, trust
Not even worth going to lectures, his entire class is taught off of one 1300 slide long PowerPoint across the entire semester. Just learn the content yourself and you'll be fine. I made the mistake of actually trying to learn off his lectures for the first test and failed miserably. There is no curve on the tests, so don't count on that.
lectures are useless, and he basically read his slides. he doesn't give any extra points. he doesnt the curve the exams nor round the grades. its just awful. i wish there were more options for cot.
The only reason I would recommend this class is because its so easy. However he was not good at his job I taught myself everything through the many assignments he gave us. He was kinda rude, not helpful and hard to be around. But if you just need the credit I would recommend this course because you can miss class and turn in assignments whenever.
Lectures are hard to understand with the way he words things and slides are long/unorganized. Some test questions seem to align with the course content and some questions will require a deeper understanding. Doesn't seem to like it when students ask questions during his lectures. Use outside resources to supplement the class.
Theado might actually be the worst professor I have ever had the horror of experiencing. RMP only gives me 350 characters to express my thoughts but I could write a book with all of his flaws. Canvas quiz attendance is necessary but in-person is not, he speeds through concepts, frequently rejects the textbook material, and does not respond.
Definitely a self teach professor. Easily triggered, rambles,10mins to answer 1 question.Class lectures are given in online vids that he also rambles in and just reads off a ppt, while actual class time is for ‘questions'.Hw doesn't really help with the exams so best bet is the textbook. Hard to contact. Can't tolerate even the slightest whisper.
too much to say and not enough room. good luck contacting him outside of class. material is easy if u have common sense but i stopped going to class bec he might be the most annoying person I've ever encountered. he will tweak out if you whisper, or flat out call u dumb for asking a question. i recommend finding a good therapist before enrolling
his stutter. horrible teaching. his bad attitude. his failure to effectively teach the curriculum. just teach yourself.
Easily the worst professor I have ever had. Absolutely insufferable, and not worth attending "lectures". Class time is for questions while he posts the actual lectures online. Has the personality of a plastic cup and even that's being generous. Hard to get a hold of outside class. Avoid if possible, if not just teach yourself and get the credits.
Interesting character, lectures were long and very boring, he reads off slides, is annoyed by any noise in the classroom making students not want to go to class. Lectures are uploaded online, attendance was checked through a quiz, which could be done outside of class. Make sure to get ahead on cengage hw. Hw problems won't really help for exams.
This professor might as well teach online only. His classes are pointless to go to and he does not reply to any emails. The exams might as well be your whole grade because thats what actually affects it. He doesn't really explain but the material was easy to be self taught. I stopped going to class because i could teach myself to do everything lol.
This is likely the worst class I have ever taken. There are no lectures, just extremely stale videos of him going through his 1300 slide presentation. The homework is overbearing and there are NO resources to help prepare for exams. I attempted to teach myself the course material but was lost for most of the semester. Also, he yells at students.
Lectures are not mandatory as he posts them online, class time is used to clarify content or answer questions. Attendance is taken over class quizzes that can be done at home. 3 exams that are graded out of 100 points but each exam has bonus points. Definitely a self teach class, no actual exam reviews, just hands out topics that will be on them.
All lectures were online so he made class lecture time just for questions which makes no sense. exams are 60% of your grade so be prepared
UH, JUST TRUST ME AND DO PAST EXAMS,HIS EXAMS ARE LITERALLY THE SAME AS LAST YEARS SO U SHOULD BE GOOD IF U JUST DO THEM PLUS I THINK HE DROPS THE LOWEST EXAM GRADE, LOWK JUST LOCKIN ON PREV YEAR PPRS
lectures is just him answering questions on HW, he teaches via posting videos on canvas of him going through his slides. Don't bother coming to class, no real exam reviews, the only form of review for exams is a quiz posted week of exam, and a list of topics that will be on the exam. Exams are worth 110-120 points but is graded out of 100.
Negative reviews about this professor are just people looking to blame their own shortcomings on something external. Exams are fair and you should get an A or B on them as long as you learn the material, read the textbook, watch the lectures, and ask questions if you're confused.
You will most likely teach yourself this class, but there is no way Theado deserves a low rating with the other professors I've experienced. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND (If you want to get an easy A) making friends in this class and joining group chats. Lectures are pre-recorded, attendance not mandatory. Homework heavy but easy to complete.
Attention! You Will have to take this class if you are planning on being a CS or Engineering Major. Theado is no were near as bad as people claim. To pass this class you need to do these three things. JOIN the discord and NETWORK, Study Past exams and his slides (Exams are NOTHING like HW) , and honestly don't waste time with QNA. Study FROM HOME!
As long as you respect Theado by following what he says, you will do fantastic in this class. His explanation of concepts can be a little goofy sometimes, but they do a good enough job of helping. If you study for the exams well ahead of time, you will get good grades. He also secretly drops an exam sometimes at the end of the semester.
Clear, precise syllabus. Do not under estimate this class - and listen to instructions. Difficult, but VERY fair.
Lectures are online; in-person lectures are worthless. Uses webassign ($118). Only reads off slides. Self-teach class. Constantly interrupts the already lackluster and useless in-person lectures if he hears anything.
Insufferable.
I love him. He shows genuine passion for the material he teaches and people really dispise him because he actually cares about the logic and critical thinking, which a lot of people are uncomfortable with for some reason. He's a genuine guy and you'll learn lots if you pay attention.
He seems very passionate about what he does which is nice unlike some professors. But his lectures are online and the classes are just questions you had about the lecture or re going over the lecture so i find the classes a little pointless. This class is so hard some of it is and common sense but most of it i found extremly difficult and confusing
I can usually take hard classes and still do well, however his tests are nothing like the homework (he doesnt make himself), so its a lose-lose either way. 1st exam went in thinking its easy and got a 60, while my friend got an 89. Most of the material relates to programming and it shows in what I had to do in that class, as he teaches that too
just bad thats all literally horrible take it from any other professor. :)
If you're not religious, pick one and start praying. Genuinely the worst class i've taken so far. I'm still waiting on a response to an email sent during the first week of classes... unreachable, rude and a waste of time
Genuinely one of the worst people I've ever had as a professor. Class is relatively easy if you do all the MyMathLab on time, but he doesn't respond to emails, has cursed students out, and made multiple people cry over things as small has calculator issues on exams. Very demeaning and overall just not a good human being.
Lectures aren't helpful as online lectures are expected to be watched prior to class and then the in class lecture is exactly the same. Take the class if you can teach yourself the online material on mylab as the exam material is extremely similar. Not a difficult class at all but your success is truly because of you not his lectures.
He is a nice guy he offers help during office hours, but he is not the best at explaining. He over explains things that don't matter and explains it in an odd way. You do lecture videos before class, and he does the exact same lecture in person. I am terrible at math, but I was able to pass the content is not too hard but be ready to teach yourself
The content was not horrible and was honestly mostly self-explanatory. Going to class doesn't help, but it is better to form study groups if you want to do well. He is not nice at all and goes on tangents about random concepts during class, and he doesn't even answer questions properly either. If you don't need this class, find another one instead.
I am very sorry if you are required to take this man's classes for your degree. He's very rude- if there's no participation credit, it's probably better to just study/learn independently. Tests are medium-ish difficulty. If there's still a project, that will boost your grade a decent bit. I believe he lightly curved the final (everyone did bad) :(
Avoid this teacher. He told us on the first day of class not to email him, and if you do, he'll ignore it. The class is 2 days a week, but he uses one day to "answer any questions" and has no lecture. The days he does lecture, it is awful; he goes on tangents. On the first exam, he made a student cry for asking a question about the exam format.
As much as everyone else is hating, this guy is really not that bad. This was the easiest math class I've ever taken and I stopped going to lectures because I could learn it all on my own. He's a pretty boring explainer but he does take the time to answer questions. I would definitely take this class again.
just awful
This professor was extremely difficult and rarely responded to any of the emails sent by any student. He was very condescending when students asked questions regarding course policy.
This was my second time taking the course. I appreciate the videos he posts about the material but wish there was more student interaction instead of just slides. I also want more practice problems. He isn't very welcoming and seems bothered if you ask questions. He adjusted the exam weight and rounded up for one of my exams. Wouldn't retake him.
