Gives many assignments but is an easy grader as long as you do a decent job.

Very easy, I took him for all 3 English classes. Basically, just do the papers as he asks, you'll do well. Ask him to check it before you turn it in. There is no certain due date, just turn it in before the semester ends. Easy

A VERY slow grader. If you are one of those people that must know your grade the next day don't take him. He takes longer then a week to let you know your grades. He is very easy other then that.

Very very easy.I would definatley recommend him if you like to get a good grade. Slow grader so its ok if you turn things in late. His lectures don't always have anything to do with the assignments though.

Extends mercy when grading papers. Slow returning grades; but justified so he can provide a curve. Disorganized but friendly, approachable; gives constructive criticism. Wants students to succeed. Many assignments & scantron tests. Overall, good Class!

I don't know why people don't like him. He's great with creative writing. He's very nice and approachable. His grading is awesome, easy A. He helps develop your writing skills and gives you constructive critisism and includes the whole class in a writer's circle for critic.

If you like very structured classes lined up in neat rows, and cannot handle participation, he is not for you. But, if you seek a unique classroom experience with free thought, an instructor who encourages a safe environment for expression, and an opportunity to buck the status quo, give him a go!

I truly enjoyed Prof. Thornburg's class. Very helpful in finding us information on writing programs, examples as well as critiques. He is a brilliant professor.

Excellent class. He is one the few instructors that can be considered a "teacher." He cares much about the subject and the students. I was encouraged to explore free-writing, especially poetry. I understand the complaints of others but I still highly recommend the class.

his class was fairly easy; however, i felt like i learned a lot of helpful material. sometimes he can be a bit boring, but his love for english and what he does are extremely apparent. just do the papers and assignments and you will get an A.

The best english teacher ever! His class is so stress free, and his tests are easy. He grades like a middle school teacher, and there's no reason why, you should take anybody else. You will never see grades, but you'll see an A at the end of the semester.

He's not very easy, but he is not supposed to be. Writing s not supposed to be easy and the home work is easy. Just PAY ATTENTION! Gives extra Credit for answering questions correctly.

He is a good teacher. But is always lost or forgetting something. Test are easy and his essays are not hard just write one and get a good grade. Easy!!!!!!

Easy going. He is a writer! He is well read. People think he is lost, no, he is creating a non-intimidating environment to welcome discussion and creativity. I am going to take this class again, as many do. Showed up, turned in my work, made an A. I learned how to learn to write and how to get published. I enjoyed this class and its special format.

I had him for a mini-session and yeah it was tough crunching 4 essays, but I felt I really did learn a enough english crap as long as I stayed awake. If you are ontime, you should have no problems his course. Oh and for the people that rated him poorly, I believe they were the annoying student in the back sleeping, late, or disrupting the class.

Thornburg one cool ass dude!! His class is easy if you just do the readings and essays! Test are quotes so you have to read!! Easy A if you do you work and hes lets you turn in late work with out your grade suffering!!! A.K.A SANTA "THORNBURG" HAHA

He is so easy. You have to be retarded to not make an A in this class. Don't buy the book...find all the poems online! I took him during summer school, it was a little fast but he graded easy! He told the class, "It's summer, I'm going to grade easier". I wrote the worse paper in the world cause I had no time and still received an A! TAKE HIM!

I also took him for summer mini so it was a little hectic. He seemed hard at first, but his class is not that bad and he's pretty nice. His tests are easy, and the papers that he assigned were okay, they're not too hard. I'd recommend him because I got A's on all my papers and I'm not good at writing

Professor Thornburg is very nice and clear on what he expects from the students. The subject is easy to understand. Yes, you are required to read stories, but they are very interesting and you even get to watch the movies for them. The essays were easy for me and he is a fair grader. I think he is an excellent professor, go ahead and take him easy A

Mr. Thornburg is an easy teacher. If you are not a strong writer this is a good teacher to take. He rarely fails anyone on their written ass. He grades it and gives you the opp. to correct your paper. Do not buy the book. He does take attendance. BE WARE he is SUPER SUPER boring but easy. Is willing to help when needed!! good and easy

His creative writing class is great. Although he does have a tendency to just leave the room for mid conversation and wont come back for fifteen minutes

EVERYONE NEEDS TO STOP HATING ON J THORNBURG. The dude is raw. His literary knowledge is unsurpassed and he loves what he does. He is disorganized and sometimes boring and slow and off topic. But the day of the final he says, and I quote, "Welcome to the easiest final at San Jacinto College." Show up for the final and you get an A... No lie.

Very VERY nice but often confused. Gets off topic a lot but knows his subject. Knows a lot of abstract facts about English and literature.Attendance isn't going to be an issue if you turn in your assignments on time. He always gives more time on essays if you need it. SUPER EASY CLASS.

You will get an A if you pay attention in class even if you don't take notes.He does check for punctuationwith a passion on his very philosophical essays however. He will also help you a lot if you ask after class. Not the easiest teacher, but a fair one.

I don't see why Mr. Thornburg has received such a bad rap here. This is a college course, so, therefore those who take it should realize that they are expected to perform at a college level. I wouldn't say he was a bad teacher despite the fact that he is highly disorganized.It just depends on what your needs are.In conclusion, it's easy to get an A

BEST TEACHER in san jac! he is alittle disorganized but its okay. He offers all types of help to the student! easy grader. all youo have to do is, show up, take notes, ask questions, and do your work! obviously eveyone on here that dislike him was sleeping in class or never did their work! i got an A!

SUCH A BORING CLASS! BUT he is a REALLY easy teacher and grades really easy as well. I never looked forward to this class because it was so boring and really a waste of time too, but i stuck with him because he is really easy. I suggest you take him if you want an easy A. He is a very soft talker, so sit in front. He is an easy teacher, does repeat himself a few times, but overall great! he's willing to help you with anything! Seriously easiest class ever!!!!

So he just sits at his computer going over blackboard easy class to take. 4 stories due for entire semester and 4 quizzes no final or mid term . his voice is very monotone but if your are looking for an easy class this is it just do homework which are usually prewriting's maybe a paragraph long usually a few sentences. grades at last minute

If you are passionate about English don't take him but if you want to get an easy A take him!..... Yeah the class is boring but compare to my other english class it was super easy.

Don't listen to most of the reviews I took this class for Fall 2016 and it was the easiest thing I have ever done. You can barely put any thought into the essays and you will get a 90 on all of them. I am a terrible writer and have no idea how I managed to make an A in the class. There are also quizzes that you need to read and understand the poems

GREAT TEACHER! Grades fairly and is really caring. His class can be boring at times but it is by far the easiest English class I've ever taken. Don't listen to all the negative comments, If you want an easy English class to take I would suggest him. You just have to show up to class, actually try, and pay attention to understand what is going on.

Really great teacher, his class was extremely easy! There's no way you can fail his class. All his assignments were easy, plus he posts exactly what he wants from your papers on Blackboard. One thing i didn't like is that he grades all his papers at the end of the semester.

This class is pretty easy and clear, it is a little boring but overall super easy. Only thing I hated was he didn't post grades on blackboard until the last week of the 16 week semester.... still made an A+

I took his class online and it was super easy. He is not a tough grader at all and he gives good feedback on your essays to help you better your next essay. I did use a textbook, but it was only for the midterm and final review. You will use the same textbook for ENG1302. I am taking him again for ENG1302

I can understand why some students didn't like taking him, but everything u need to know is on BB and he just reads from it. I'll rather have him read it to me than me have to go home and do it on my own. He also explains what you need to know for the test. He shows little movie clips from the stories that u have to read which helps. He curves test

The professor reminds me of the old man from UP (But nice), idk why; he grades essays fairly easy and when you take his exams, KNOW THE Characters yall will be reading about, it helps. Yes, he does not update the BB till the day of so if you are the type to want to get ahead, do not take the class! Overall, I did not hate it

Great professor. Super easy class composed of 15 journal entries that are counted as participation, 6 "major projects", 1 of these being a revision of a previous project turned in. Discussion board participation. Smooth and easy course online with good feedback.

I took him online on a schedule. I feel like he was pretty good. He didnt overload us with essays. He gave out prewritings for better help on the essays. Unlike other professors he didnt overwhelm me with work. His finals had multiple practice quizzes to better understand.
