Best college professor ever had - enthusiastic, caring, knowledgeable, clear
one of the best teachers i ever had, very helpful and has great knowledge of material
Good teach, very helpful, cared about how you are doing
Great professor - easy going - tests are straight-forward. U must know how to do adjsting entries, though. NO STUPID GROUP PROJECTS
Prof. Todd is a great professor! He explains the materials well & cares for his students. His 1st exam was really easy; 2nd (Chap. 3) was so so; 3rd (Chap 4-7) was really hard; 4th (Chap 8-11) was hard; Then the Final (cumu 3-12) was easy! Read the book, understand the concepts and do the studyguide! He curves (big time for our class)
he is so funny and nice. he makes it very easy to understand. his tests are so hard though!
hard class...tests can be confusing b/c they are a different style from the method of teaching. talks about family too much.
he need to relax and teach learn how to teach the material
This teacher is hilarious. He makes it easy for you to learn and tests are easy if you come to class. He is a great professor, one of my best!
Love this teacher! Great, nice & funny guy. 1st test was easy, 2nd ok, 3rd & 4th hard and final was so-so. He helps guides you on what's on the test, so it's kinda important to go to class, but he doesn't take roll. Take him!
I took Prof. Todd for Acct 300A, & I got a 'C'. I ended up with a 'C' for Auditing as well this sem. His exams were really difficult b/c each exams(3) consist of 8 chapters; however, he's a great professor, & he explains the materials well. You will learn alot. My suggestion is to go to class & really understand the textbook (memorize the tables.)
Studied a little, listend to the lectures took the easy tests & received easy A on both classes. These classes are walk in the park.
Explains the material eaiser than reading the book. Do need to re-read the chapters and do the practice questions on the Gliem book since some will appear on the exams. Great professor who makes it simple for you to understand.
Wonderful teacher. He is funny and helpful. Makes morning class very enjoyable and I actually look forward to starting my day off with auditing.
Professor Todd is a great teacher. I actually looked forward to coming to class. He makes the material easier to understand, and he's funny & relaxed. Gleim will help you, and going to class helps to cuz things he goes over is included in the exams.
Make sure you have the book because his lectures are strictly based on the book. Ok class, test are complicated but then again this is suppose to be the most difficult course in Acct. Study and you will do well class is based on 4 test no HW or projects.
#1 - Know all the sample test questions and answers. #2 - Be there the week before the test so you can hear what the test will focus on then make sure you understand that part from the text. Outside of that, you don't need to be there every class. If you can learn from practice tests and textbook you'll be fine. EXTREMELY friendly & helpful Prof.
2 midterms, 1 final (non-cumulative), 1 group project (very easy, no presentation). Read the book, questions in the back of the chapters, and Gleim. Probably can get a B w/o going to class but if you want an A I recommend going to class. Very nice guy, class is boring but he's an interesting guy.
This is NOT an easy class. Read the book. Do the probs in Gleim. I highly reccommend going to class. People say they don't learn anything from class but i don't think they're paying attention at all then. VERY knowledgeable, totally nice and extremely helpful of a professor.
I took him for both 300B and 470. His lecture is heavily baed on the textbook, so I suggest you to buy it. Extremely helpful and very funny professor!!! Makes ACCT so much easier and understandable than textbooks. One of my favorite professors in ACCT dept. Highly recommended.
It's clear that he loves what he does - humor him.
funny old guy trying to be friends with the students. i hate the subject, but he is a good professor. reviews with you a lot before tests. maybe i hated this class only because accounting wasn't my major and my thing. should be an easy B.
Best Acct teacher hands down. Grades on a curve, all tests are multiple choice mainly word problems each only 20-25 questions. Nice guy and understanding to outside circumstances.
Only ACCT majors take this course, so b aware that it is NOTHING like the other classes we hv to take. NO calc, ALL conceptual, mainly common sense. Todd explains n lamens terms, txtbk is a MUST. 3 tests, final is the hardest, 1 group project. Project can increase grade a whole letter! Gleim will b ur saver, use it & u'll pass easy B.
Really nice teacher, the tests are complicated but its not too hard. Very reasonable with outside work. I recommend him. Just know the book and take GREAT notes. Make sure to buy Gleim and use it as a study guide. People that give bad reviews are mad they didn't get a good grade. Curves, two tests one final (non-cumulative) and one easy project.
Loved this teacher and this class!! To get an A w/o the curve, be sure to >>really<< understand the concepts (READ THE BOOK/LISTEN TO TODD!!) and do the Gleim problems at least twice. The tests become very very easy at that point. The project is easy too!
Do the Gleim homework, pay attention and write down EVERYTHING he says <- this will help tremendously. Study what he went over in class (notes & charts in book), understand the homework and you shall get the A. Very helpful during office hours. Do NOT skip class because his lectures are essential to doing well on the test.
He is an okay professor. The material that he reviews for test was no help at ALL!!! Rather stay home and teach yourself. Confuses a lot!!
Professor Todd made this class very enjoyable for me. Going into the class, I was scared since im not very good at math. Boy was I wrong, its more on CONCEPTS. I recommend to read each chapter before class but if you dont have time, its fine. He covers everything in class. Oh and he curves too! always a pluss. I would take him again!
Teacher means well and wants to befriend the class. He often will crack jokes at the expense of his students, so just brush it off. READ THE TEXTBOOK!!!!! It will do you far more good than he will. He does curve the tests which saves your grade! Tests will often vary from the hw problems so READ THE PROBLEMS CAREFULLY!
I don't know what people are talking about this guy being great. He was so confusing and I totally struggled in his class. I am now taking ACCT300B with Prof. Hunt and it is so much better. Although it is even harder material in ACCT 300B I am learning more. Prof Todd is a nice guy but I wouldn't take him again.
He is a great professor. You need to be interactive in his class. Bring the book with you to class; he likes applying examples. People that complain about him are the people that refuse to read. Read the book, participate in class, and it's a walk in the park. You EARN your grade. If you do not pass his class, just drop out.
Self learned everything. But self learning was doable. He teaches by only talking. So if you are a visual learner I wouldn't reccomend.
This prof. is adorable!! Just an old man who gets side tracked by the simplest thing like the difference between "lay" and "lye". Haha! Book is a must. Attend class to know objectives, write down his examples, and study and you should be fine. Got an A
He is a good professor. He sometimes makes jokes. He curves grades so you will do better. You have to read the book and do the homework to really understand what is going on in his lectures.
Gotta learn by yourself, he makes jokes around but nothing to do with acct... teaches by just talking and talking, so if you are a visual learner AVOID taking him... Nice guy but he just doesn't care if you go or not to his class... He curves so you can do "better." Best of luck!
3 exams and small group paper (10% of grade). 1st test is the hardest. Do optional HW as some test questions come from it. He curves. He lectures very well, better than book. Bring recorder for the test reviews and listen to them again. No math, all conceptual like BLAW. Emails back and helpful in person. Nice person. Appreciates classic TV. Got A.
Show up to class, read the link to text while doing the online homework and study. very straight foward and he is helpful. make sure you bring the book's pages to class to follow along.
3 exams, all MC and some group "quizzes" (really just attendance). Don't worry if you don't learn much from lectures. Learn the bold text in the textbook and do Gleim until you get 80%+. He's a nice and respectful prof with terrible handwriting. He's in the "Goldilocks" zone: not too hard, not too easy. Study at least 3 days before each exam.
Show up to class, skipping class & only reading the textbook will not help on the 3 tests and 1 final.
He's cute like in the way that your grandpa is cute haha. Being "bad at math" isnt an excuse to do bad in this class. I SUCK at math and pulled a B and would have pulled an A if I didn't do bad on the 2nd exam. This class is more "think logically" than "math heavy" must come to class MUST have book. He confuses himself sometimes, keep up.
First level accounting should not be a difficult class, but professor Todd made it especially difficult and confusing. Therefore, I learned more from the book and did a lot of self teaching. No powerpoints, only verbal lectures and examples on a tiny whiteboard. Multiple choice exams, and online homework on Wileyplus. Read the book & do examples
He is a pretty good teacher. Explains things clearly and always answers any questions you have. Only 3 tests which stinks because the first is on 3 chapters but the second is on 5 chapters.. and he wonders why students dont do as well... he doesnt really space out the material or tests too well.. it gets hard, fast. Just go to class and study.
Vague. Sits in front of class and talks. His whole less is him talking. He writes on the board sometimes but has bad handwriting. Accountings a tough class, he makes it 80x worse. I went to him multiple times for help, he told me to go to tutoring center.
Todd's a nice guy. That being said his class structure isn't the best. 90% of the time Todd is lecturing orally which is hard to get used to. The best way to learn is to read the book carefully. His class consist of 3 midterms and a final all multiple choice consisting of 25 questions each (90%) and homework (10%)
Let me start by saying I hate accting, but he wasnt a bad prof at all! He lectured from the book!! He gives lots of homework but it also provides you with the answers!! he really explained the concepts. If you are too naive to ask ?s out of embarrassment, that is your own fault because he gives plenty of opportunities to ask if you need help.
Verbal lectures, writes sloppy on board so sit close. Gives answers to hw before its due, (free points) Exams are similar to hw. HW has problems not from lecture and wont be on test so its important to pay attention in lecture. What he lectures will be on test. Exams are from lecture, no curveball hard questions. He loves questions so as them.
All he does during lecture is sit in front of the class and talk, but he is really good at getting the information to you. You MUST go to class, there is a lot of stuff he doesn't cover in the book and what he talks about is what's on the test. 3 midterms 1 final and homework make up your grade. He gives you answers to homework before its due
Uses CPA review questions so they are not from the book and the test is really tricky. Currently studying for CPA review and if i have to compare my current grade with CPA review and his class. His class is harder and alot more boring. Talks about family. No Extra Credit. Makes you work for your grade. Grade 60% is a C.
exam grades are curved based on how well the class does. the exams are easy if you know the material. force yourself to pay attention in class because he explains things better than the book. online hw takes forever for some chapters so dont do them last minute.
Todd was the worse professor I had ever have in my life. I am graduating and this professor made me not want to be in CPA world anymore! exams are super tricky and make sure he likes you otherwise he doesn't give an S if you are passing this class or not. no extra credit, no nothing. boring class, you have to study the whole thing by yourself.
Honestly this class is going to be all about you teaching yourself. He does a poor job at relaying the material to students. If you just have the e-book, he will never clarify where his examples are coming from, so it will get confusing. Overall, it was a boring class where I learned very few things.
Old fashion lecturer, no powerpoint and little whiteboard examples. Though I found it wasn't hard to follow along. goes over far less stuff than any other 201 class so that is a major +. I would take him again. Homework is all online and he gives you the answer after a few trys but use that to learn bc just putting the right answer does you no good
He incorporates a lot of his professional experiences into his lectures. Nice guy. All of his exams are multiple choice. His final isn't cumulative either! One group project.
I would recommend Professor Todd. I had him for 201 and Auditing, and he tries to explain the concepts in easy to understand wording. I would write down everything he lectures on, it makes studying a bit easier. Very approachable person and grades on a curve.
His lecture is him standing up at a podium, reading the textbook to you in a confusing and disorganized manner. Begs students to participate and when you do he can't hear you. Tests are not hard, 25 questions MC, but there is little room for error. A group project and group attendance quizzes every class. My advice is to watch Netflix during class.
have to teach yourself learned very little from professor while in class, went to class for the attendance credit
This is more of a self taught class, but its not hard. He curves tests and the tests are easy if you put in the time to study. Most of his lectures I zone out bc theres nothing I can learn from him that I can't learn in the book. Still, he eliminates a lot of info that you would need to know for other classes, so thats a plus. Defintely reccomend!
Professor Todd gives lecturers by just talking. There are no powerpoints, only white board examples. He doesn't talk that loud when compared to other teachers so it was really hard to understand what was going on. I do not recommend him since he makes accounting hard.
Super boring lectures which make his class hard to understand. There is no use of technology through his teaching. Does not talk very loud. Only whiteboard examples. I learned more from doing the homework on my own time than being in class twice a week. Do not take him. Makes accounting very hard.
he is literally the most boring professor ever. he does not use any powerpoints because he thinks that they're useless, so he is basically talking the entire time and its hard to keep up because he does not show any examples at all. he uses the little white board but his hand writing is a mess. avoid him at all costs if possible. you wont pass.
Your 3 tests and final compose 85% of your grade so if yu are'nt good at tests and don't like conceptually heavy tests, don't take this class. You really have to study to do well. Tests are only 25 questions but worth 200 and 250 points each. Barely passed.
Awful professor. All he does is sit and read from slides. Very dry, boring lectures so sit in front if you don't want to start slacking off. Grade is mostly from exams (abt 25 questions, multiple choice). If you don't take good notes and study, you won't pass. Also, majority of the time we have no idea what he's refering to in the book!
Great prof w/ some dark humors. Not much HW to do. Class might be boring since he just sits & explains the slides. Take good notes & read the textbook if you want good grades on the exams(there're only 25 Qs). He'll also go over some practice problems before the exam day.
Todds lectures can be pretty boring, he sits up at the front and reads off of the slides, which you have to bring your own copy to class (or have open on your laptop). Attendance isnt necessary, but if you actually want to learn anything just read the textbook. Your grade is just based on your exams and homework is worth 0.05% of your grade :).
This is the laziest professor I have ever seen. I mean walks away after giving quizzes to avoid questions about lecture and then asking us to bring them up to his office? Give me a break. Tests are only 25 questions which makes it easy to fail. Barely edits his syllabus from previous semesters. I can't stand him. Very smart but bad professor.
This is the absolute worst professor I've ever had. He barely answers questions and runs away after class. He's way past retirement and needs to stop teaching. There are 3 tests that are 90% of grade and only 25 questions each. This makes it easy to not do well, since each question is 1.2% of overall grade. If your a bad test taker like me avoid!!
If youre a bad test taker, avoid this class! This class is based on exams and a few homework assn. Also, if you are taking hard classes, dont try and add him. You will be self-taught. Lectures are based on a powerpoint that will only be shown on your laptop screen or printed and you will take notes as he lectures.
If you take him, make sure to get those test banks because that's all his exam is. He doesn't take attendance and really hard to pay attention during lectures. There are daily quizzes, a short group paper, 2 exams, and the final. Seriously though the exams are literally word for word from test banks. Grades are curved.
Lazy professor. Didn't give any lectures during the COVID-19 and instead made a bunch of short recordings. My other professors still had lectures, plus he was always unresponsive to emails. Tests are hard too. If you're not a good test taker, please avoid because tests are 90% of grade, group project 5%, and quizzes 5%. Barely curves.
Online recordings, but they're not of teaching quality. I would recommend Farhat's Accounting Lectures on YouTube to learn material. I had the 16th edition book and the information was the same as the 17th edition. 2-weekly quizzes, 3-test, 1-group case. Test required Respondus LockDown browser and cellphone with the Zoom app for camera monitoring.
Fantastic professor with thirty-five years of audit experience. Professor Todd makes himself available to all students outside of class. He is always willing to answer questions until you understand the concept. Three exams with twenty-five questions each and one research case. Take this professor and ask him questions!! Study hard for exams.
I should have failed this class but he rounded the grades or the final. Very hard class doesn't teach just reads you the textbook. Will ask practice questions in class but only says "correct" and then moves on without explaining. Homework is worth almost nothing. Studied for hours only to get 30% and it was all multiple choice.
DO NOT TAKE HIM. He is a tough grader and really teaches nothing. Hs exams are super difficult that is totally different from study guide. If you are taking him next semester, please reconsider. He is not caring at all. He knows his stuffs but what we get tested on are qay off topics. Please don't make yourself miserable.
Professor Todd is a nice guy but doing this class online was frustrating. He is not very tech-savvy so I would recommend just doing the recorded lectures instead of going to his live Zoom lectures. There was a technical issue with the last test and he handled it unfairly. The exams were much much harder than the practice tests and homework.
John Todd, love the man, but not the class. One of the hardest classes I have ever taken. The grade is solely reliant on the tests. The homework goes into one grade in the grade book, which makes it completely useless.
his recorded lectures are boring and confusing. With that said its really not a complicated class just study the practice tests religiously.
Its a self taught class, he only does review sessions before the exams but he just goes over practice exams word by word. I recommend you take the SI course that is offered. That is where you will learn the most and actually can get help. Also the homework is basically worthless part of your grade since he does 3 midterms and a final
Poor lecturer and not effective at teaching the material. Learned more by myself
he does not understand technology at ALL. he doesn't even open the chat during zooms. you need to teach yourself in this class, but he does curve the exams. the class average was always a 50%. take this at a community college if you can
With all due respect, this is the worst professor I've ever had. Auditing is a tricky subject as it is, but he does not take the time to simplify it. If you end up taking him, do yourself a favor and watch Farhat Accounting lectures on Youtube instead. All he does is read the book to you. Trust me, you are better off taking someone else.
Auditing is a difficult subject! I retook this class because it is HARD! If you are lazy and don't go over lecture recordings, practice questions or type good notes on PP during Lectures you will pay a heavy toll. That being said Todd&landa have done a great job cleaning up the rampant cheating that has screwed up the class curve b4. Put in work!
Terrible Professor, didn't use any sort of power point, it was just his face the whole time. Didn't record meetings etc. Good luck to anyone taking him in the fall.
his teaching style is not for visual learners. homework is in one grade book, midterms/final exams are in another grade book. 3 midterms & 1 final exam are nothing like the practice exam/midterm, it's actually harder. recorded lectures are boring, confusing, & very vague. he is not tech-savvy. not good at explaining stuff. curve grades do not help.
Just don't take this class, trust me <3
I highly recommend you to study and make flashcards to help you with the exams. The Practice test seems easy but when it comes to the exam it would be difficult if you didn't review it at your own time. He honestly just read from the book an the PPT. I wish he could encourage more students to do well instead of just saying at the beginning to drop
avoid at all cost
I think compared to the other accounting professors he is a bit better. It is very hard to pay attention in his lectures because he does talk a lot and it's boring, but if you have questions he is very willing to answer and try his best to help. You do need to put in the work for this class definitely.
Avoid at all costs. His class consists of 3 midterms and 1 final which determine your final grade. Homework is pointless in this class since it wont help out your grade. His practice exams are nothing like the real exams, so be ready to study A LOT. His lectures are boring and really fast paced.
The practice midterms are easier but nothing like the exam. I would recommend studying the homework and making flashcards on Quizlet or Review sheets to do good in the class. If you don't put in the effort you will definitely do badly in his class. He's not very tech-savvy either. Exams are on lockdown browser + webcam, don't take him.
3 midterms and a final. Lectures are boring. Exams are tedious (can't go back to review your answers before submitting or look what you got incorrect) but if you take the time to understand the lecture notes then you should be fine passing the class at least. Old professor. Exams are main parts for your grade. Not majoring in acct? Don't take him
This class was very hard to grasp. Chegg saved me but without it would be hard. He curves all of his tests one letter grade up. HW is easy with chegg. No quizzes just 4 exams in total. Exams count for bulk of grade so do week on them. Not very good at teaching online so either pay attention or buy chegg and look for the answers somewhere.
Your entire grade is based on 3 exams and one group project. The hardest part of this class is staying awake. It is very lecture-heavy, and most of what is on the tests are mentioned in class, so if you take good notes and stay awake you will do just fine on the exams. Most students zone out. If you can really pay attention, you'll do great.
This class was my most challenging class I have ever taken. Professor gives you a practice exam that is nothing like the exam. Extremely difficult course and difficult professor. 3 exams make up your grade, and if you fail one goodluck passing . Also the last 2 exams are during finals and ONE week apart from each other, if you take him goodluck.
John Todd is a nice guy but as a professor, feel like if his methods of teaching are outdated. I'm more of a visual learner and he pretty much just reads off his slides. This class is also 100% exams so if you don't do well on exams, I'm sorry. And the way his exams are set up are stressful, lockdown Browser + webcam and sometimes it doesn't work
Grade is based only on 3 Exams & 1final(25 mc questions+Final is cumulative), Exams are simple if you study before hand. Join SI class and do the HW, they make great practice. Show up to lecture/watch recordings bc sometimes he'll say that some of the textbook lessons aren't required to be read.
