Professor Trickel is a great guy. He has a good sense of humor and laughs at himself. You can tell he enjoys what he's teaching, which is always a plus. It's a history class, so history classes should have a level of difficulty-- you just have to make sure you study and listen, this insures success.

Trickel is a good teacher! You just really have to pay attention to his lectures. His tests arent really hard, after you take one and you know what he tests you over, you'll be fine. He knows what hes talking about...

He's a cool teach but you better pay attention to is lecture cuz the tests are straight from it. Also you better study a week before the test cuz it's that much information and it's that hard. If you devote your time to it you can make an A.

I hate this teacher.. he is extremely hard.. he is not straight forward about his information. A lot of my friends took thinking that he is easy.. they all droped out.. THIS TEACHER IS SO HARD!

He's really hard to understand.He talks fast too! I had to take a recorder to class and come home at night and listen to it over and over in order to write what he was saying. And you have to do a lot of reading.

I loved professor Trickel. But, don't take the class if you aren't willing to putin extra effort. His class can be challening, but it's not difficult. The tests are straight from the lecture. I never read the textbook, and still made an A. Write down everything he says during the lecture and devote a few days to studying for each test

Taking 5+ notes of pages from an overhead and dually trying to take additional notes from his lectures is not engaging to me. Plus you have reading material on the side. Unless you are a history buff or like very soporific lectures, then I would not recommend.

The class so far has been nothing but lecture and note-taking, but at least he cracks jokes frequently. So far I've found nothing wrong with Trickel, and he seems fine.

He is a nice person and makes jokes but his class is too hard. The only thing he does is lectures, no homework or in class work, and only 4 tests throughout the semester. You also have to read the book. Test questions are out of the blue, even if you study a lot, chances are you're still going to fail... either fail the class or drop out. :(

Anyone who complains about this prof is just being lazy. He is not the easiest prof in the world, but his lectures are great and his knowledge and insights are excellent. If you just PAY ATTENTION then you will be fine. Some say that he is boring, but if you actively participate, the class will fly by. I would take him again in a heartbeat.

I took the telecourse version of this course. I studied very hard and only got a B. The tests didn't really line up with the telecourse material. He did hold review sessions right before the tests, and provided you with the 4 potential essay questions that would be on the test, so that helped big time. Cool guy, but not recommended if you want an A

I took his telecourse. You watch videos you and read the book. Then take the tests in the testing center. I can't remember, it's been 2 semesters, but I think there were a couple of short essays. Liked him okay. But through telecourse lots of just studying on your own. Has short study session before tests, optional. Tests were tough. Got a B.

Unless you love to study history, don't take him. His tests are hard, and you have to write down EVERYTHING he says, he doesn't go by the book but everything he talks about in lecture. The guy is nice and funny, and Im not lazy but his tests are HARD!! got a B and spent too much time on it!

hes funny, but yeap his tests is hard! i had to drop it because i was falling behind on my reading. you have to read like 5 chapters in 3 weeks plus 2 chapters from his own book that he wrote so thats a total of 7 chapters! so if ur lazy dont take him.

I ended up dropping the class but that was simply because I'm not a morning person & couldn't get myself outta bed & to class on time. The lectures are very interesting & the teacher responds to e-mails quickly, however the tests r HARD! Mainly because of the wording. If you study his outlines from ecampus you should do fine. Good teacher though.

He is so hard, don't take him unless you have a tape recorder and are willing to listen to him for 3 hours after school and take the notes. He talks so fast and in his tests, he wants you to know every single detail that you don't care about. I got a B but ended up having nightmares with this guy

I got an A+ in his class cuz I studied my butt off and didnt slack off. I have a 4.0 but his class was one of the trickier ones. I never really went to class, but if you study the book and his outlines then you'll be fine. Oh, and study ALL of his essay questions for the test and theres no way you wont make a B at least.

he knows his histroy, makes it interesting, but its not worth taking hte class! if you want to keep your GPA up, dont take the class! he lectured once on lincoln for 30 min, and never tested on lincoln. you have to teach yourself, and read several chapters,+ 6-8 essay studies per test. he tests on stupid, pointless details.

Trickel's class is fairly easy. There are only four exams (the fourth counts as the comprehensive final) and one essay. He also gives one extra credit essay. Other than that there are no other grades taken up. Make sure you study for those tests (which he provides the notes for) and turn in your essay on time and you will make an easy A.

This class is pretty intense. SO MUCH information...must know full picture of history, not memorize dates/names. 4 units, 4 tests. No comprehensive exam at end of semester. Tests are long and can be difficult to complete in the time allowed. 1 required, 1 extra credit essay.

I took both 1301 and 1302 with him because he's so awesome! He tells history like it's a story and he doesn't harp on facts. He never asks for years of events and all you have to do is pay attention and print out his notes and you'll do just fine. He's the best history teacher I ever had!

Hes an awesome professor but you must pay attention in his class. He will hint at what you need to remember and the extra credit he gives is worth it! Overall hes a great lecturer, and Is not afraid to share jokes with the class. I love his teaching methods.

DON'T DO THIS TO YOURSELF. You'll regret it, I HATE his teaching style. All the powerpoints are so vague and the outline for the test or 'study guide' is the powerpoint he shows in class. He'll lecture about something for 15 minutes and then say "oh but you don't need to know that for the test" Just don't take him.

If you pay attention to class, it will be very easy to understand the book. He also helps the students a lot on the test, and I really like the way how he explains history. He is a great Person, funny, nice, always tells jokes in class. The slideshows are always on econnect and so are the essay questions he uses on his test for practice and review. If you really want to do good in this class dont just take notes on the slideshows, but on what he says. Also by EOT a 3-4 page essay us due, simply summarize the chapter.

I would NOT recommend this class to freshman or International students. His tests have part multiple choice, part matching, and part written. What he looks for in the written portion is very specific and he looks for every single detail mentioned in lectures. It is difficult to figure out what information he wants you to know.

This teacher was very hard, extremly fast paced. His classes are kind of boring if you aren't a lecture student. The test are hard too. Lots of reading. And he makes you buy his book. But easy to get an "A" on a paper though (just don't mispell his name!).

He was okay. Very funny and shared funny stories and jokes. But to make a decent grade you HAVE HAVE HAVE to read and completely understand BOTH books (His and the history one) and attend class to take notes to make a decent grade. Took him FAll 2010 and there were 4 tests in total. No quizzes. One extra credit. Gotta work and read for that grade!

He is a knowledgeable professor. He tells you many stories in his lectures. However, if you want to get an A, you have to make great effort in his course by reading a lot. His course could be very challenging to non-English speaking people.

Has many interesting stories, and likes to tell jokes. Makes the class interesting. That said, you HAVE to read both books and study study study - he does provide study guides on eCampus. Doesn't take attendance, but he crams a lot of information into his lectures, so don't miss any classes. Very clear on his expectations. 4 exams, 1 paper, 1 EC.

The thing that he does in class is just opens his power point, just keeps on reading throughout the class. you will see the full class at the beginning of the semester but finally ends up with lot of people dropping it. Also, Shows his video which doesn't make sense. I request students not to take his class as you will struggle to get good grade.

Took his class during this Winter. 2 tests, 1 take home take, 1 required paper and 1 EC. Take home test, required paper and EC are easy to score. The hard part is the test, you need to read alot and memorized! He's a really funny, knowledgeable and helpful instructor! He's lenient too! If you missed by few points to get an A or B, he will help you.

Don't buy textbook, but you'll need the Perspectives. To make an A, Print off his outline and highlight terms on his studyguide. As he lectures- take good notes, especially your highlighted areas. His info conflicts with the book so I don't read it. He coveres everything needed for an A on tests. Gives great lectures. I highly recommend.

Ok so he lectures all class long most of the time. He isn't a hard teacher if you go over the study guides and read the book! I pay attention half the time and still manage to score high B's and low A's on his tests. (I dislike history -_-)

He is a great teacher and really knows his stuff, but you HAVE to study for his tests. They are really hard. He lectures the whole class, and just download the outline and take notes on your laptop in class. He will really help you in the learning center. Take him if you have time to study. If not take a teacher with online tests.

Professor Trickel is an excellent teacher. He is extremely informative and very enthusiastic on his subject. I found him to be very funny as well. People say that his tests are hard and they often fail them, but i spent a few days studying for each and always made an A. I never used the book - he doesn't follow it anyway. Just take good notes.

He's a happy, good natured, funny man who only wants to help and is EXTREMELY knowledgable about each subject. Will answer any question you ask him.

Trickel is a cool guy. He makes history fun to learn about with his great sense of humor. You do NOT learn from the book. Everything is from his lectures so I highly recommend you record them. I loved everything about his class except the tests!! No matter how hard I studied the tests are the most intimidating things I have ever taken! Hard class.

Honestly one of the best history teachers I've had. He is clear and concise. Just turn off your cell phone and pay attention and you will get good grades. Take notes on what he says is important and always study his notes. I made an A+ without using the main book because I paid attention in class. You must read his book! Easy class-just focus.

He is a great teacher. Knownledgable, kind, patient, helpful, and really funny. Honestly, I am not the best student all around and I managed to make a high A in his class. A lot of people say he's difficult but thats just because they don't take the time to actually study. Just go to class, take good notes, study, and you will be successful!

Professor Trickel is very knowledgeable about history. I took his class during winter semester and it went by super fast. I managed to pass with a B. His test are a little difficult and he makes you purchase the history book for the class and a history book he wrote (very necessary for his test). 4 TESTS. 1 PAPER. 1 EXTRA CREDIT PAPER. 1 FINAL.

He is a very upbeat and nice teacher, however his class is very hard. 4 test and projects, so if you're not a good test taker you're out of luck! I would not recommend him.

Dr. Trickle is a very enthusiastic instructor that is very knowledgeable in the subject, there is no homework so it frees up time for other classes, but you need to study heavy for exams and there is also one oral history project. Great Class I would highly recommend him.

This class is pretty hard, but you can definitely make an A. Pay attention to the lectures, read the book, and study the outline he has on online. Most people have a rough time on the tests, but they are do-able if you try! There is probably an easier History 1301 class available though.

I don't see a reason why we even had the textbook. The textbook was completely useless and didn't even go in order with his lectures. Also, he's hard because all he does is talk and I guess you could write down EVERYTHING he says or what sounds important, which I did, and guess what? None of that information (or MOST of it) was even on the test!

This is the hardest History 1301 class there is. Everyone I know has super easy professors- they take their tests online and at home and use their notes and have retakes. The only grades you get in Trickel's class are the 4 exams, 1 project, and 1 extra credit paper- which is hella difficult. The tests have an essay portion, and short responses....

You must go to lectures to understand and know whats on the test. He gives you a general vague outline of the information covered on the test but with little detail. He test off this outline and out of his essay book he requires. Not an easy A, get ready to work! This guy really knows his stuff and gives good lectures!

dr. trickel knows what he's talking about and is good at making history into a story of sorts. i really enjoyed the class, but if you don't show up, take notes and review them before the class, his tests are difficult. the textbook won't help you.

A passionate history professor, knows his stuff and loves to share. His lectures are really fun sometimes. Tests are hard, but I don't think he's a tough grader. Keys to pass his exams are his notes and the identifications, both posted online. You have to find the answers to those identifications, but he would cover most of them during lecture.

Professor Trickel has a huge love for history and it shines through in each of his lectures. To get an A in this class, define each term listed on his study guide, outline his essay prompts beforehand, read the two assigned articles for each test, study early, NOT the night before, pay attention to lectures, and do the extra credit.

The tests were pretty darn hard, make sure to read his study terms and take his practice tests on his ecampus page if you want to pass. You also have to pay attention during the lecture otherwise you might miss something that will be on the test. The book is also necessary for passing the tests, and other than that, there is only one assignment.

Not as bad as people make it seem. He's a good teacher and has fun lectures . The multiple choice part of his tests are what kills everyone, but you can make the points up in the essay part of the test. (Don't wait til the end to write the essay!!!)

I took him Online. He is in the middle, not to hard not to easy. Essay is easy but Multiple choice is hard. He will save your grade by taking your late work. If your studious take him, you will learn a lot.

Without trying to be rude, he was the worst prof. I have taken. Did not sign up for him but they changed prof so we got him. He is enthusiastic about the subject but constantly goes off point. When the lectures are so long he doesn't grab anyone's attention. Never used the textbook and he just openly spoke off a power point, yet most wasn't in test

Its online so much of the course is curated, however Trickel communicates well sending reminders of due dates and gives good feedback. I had an assignment that got lost in the system, he allowed me to resubmit it without penalty. He's clear, flexible, and open to communication which is all you can ask for from online courses.

I took it last summer. The class is straightforward. 4 units, 4 tests, 4 discussion board posts, 4 essays, and 1 project (not as bad as it seems). He preferred quality over quantity which is a nice change. Overall, great professor if you have discipline. MC is very easy, just study. I didn't use the textbook. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE ON KNAC PROJECT

This class has no homework, however, you only have 4 big tests and a big project through out the entire semester, so you need to come to class for lectures. The book probably helps? I didn't read it, so I wouldn't know. Pretty vague reviews (key terms), but if you pay attention in class you'll be fine. If you're lazy, this isn't the class for you.

Trickel is not as bad as people make him seem. His class consists of only 4 tests, 1 chance of extra credit & a major project. His lectures are different from the textbook but reading helps a lot because it backs up his lecture. He's a very good, passionate professor & he wants you to truly learn. The 1st test will hit you hard but just study A LOT

Trickel is a heavily lecture-based professor. Pay attention during class and take precise notes. Record lectures and relisten to them post-test. Don't bother with the book. Start study groups with the review guides he gives you and, as a group, fill out the guide and review before test. Test are vigorous, so don't take them lightly.

His lectures will put you to sleep. He includes lots of unnecessary and annoying details that confuse you in his lectures so when you take the test, nothing relevant seems to be there. Boring, confusing and will exhaust you with meticulous details. Love yourself, don't take his class.

Dr John has helped me so much, I am forever in his favor I had just started my dual credit as I am a high school, and I applied for the dual credit program At first I thought it was going to be hard, but he helped me so much throughout the course, his help was much appreciated I would definitely repeat his course and recommend him to everyone

Took for summer, he only gives 4 Test and grades off a different scale to determine your grade. His lectures would put many students to sleep. I was only a few points away from a B and he didn't bother to hear me out.... I wouldn't recommend taking him unless you have to! If you have to my advice is study hard for those 4 tests.

Took his summer 1 course and every class he would display a power point and would go on about the topics without having to look at the power point. It's imperative that you take notes over what he says, we had four tests and two easy papers to write. You can easily pass the tests by studying the reviews he posts. Required two books for his class.

Despite the fact this is a college course with adults in it, be prepared to be treated like a child and whistled at like a dog. Has very little respect for students, literally said "I don't owe you an explanation" after not being prepared. Material is easy if you read.

This class was the most difficult class I took this year. His grades are composed of 4 tests and an oral history project. The tests were made up 30 multiple choice, 10 matching, 3 define, and an essay question. Out of all my 8 classes that I was taking, I spent the most time studying for this class and still barely passed.

If you think this is like high school think again. He is a straight shooter and is exactly how a University professor would work. His lectures are interesting, but the class is information heavy and requires lots of reading and note taking. This is the wake up call class for freshman. A lot of people say this class is horrible but I am not sure what they are talking about. You just have to study for 4 tests and write 1 essay with one optional essay. Don't let other people scare you, if you put in the work you will definitely get a good grade, and you learn a lot from him as well. Only book you have to read is the one he wrote.

Took HIST 1301 online with Dr. T. If you're looking for an easy grade, not too much reading, tons of extra credit work to make up failing grades, LOOK ELSEWHERE! This professor makes you work for it! Out of all my classes I have taken, his was the toughest one to complete. It is possible to pass, just have to read EVERYTHING he tells you to. :)

I love this professor. If you like lectures then this is your professor. He loves to start the day with a bit of humor and he loves to get some humor back. If you can pay attention to the lectures, write some good notes, and read like 100 pages over the course of a month, then you can pass his class with flying colors.
