He's an exceptional teacher and a gem of a prof. Definitely the best one I've had so far and will probably ever have. If you work hard, you will get a good grade. He explains everything very nicely and is always willing to help.

A very nice prof. Not a very easy marker. Most of the people get 60's and 70's on the assignments. Very few 80's and very few 50's. He's okay I guess. Test are fair if you study. Enjoyed his class and would love to take more courses with him.

I had Turtle couple years back for the 105 course. He defines what you call an "Excellent teacher" learnt some interesting stuff from him. He's 1 of the top profs at Ryerson.

John Turtle is a great prof, teaches FBI and CIA and cops too. Worked on Good Will Hunting w/Robin Williams :). Personable and fair, although he has some issue with the undergrad journalism program (offended some people in our class). But cool overall. Study for tests.

He's passionate & enthusiastic about his topics, has practical exp in the field. Extensive online notes prepped for you ahead of time. Goes over tests & explains every question clearly. Even held after class question periods sometimes for those who needed it; a very nice guy. You can hardly ask for more from a prof.

Definately enthusiastic about tha material, very friendly and approachable, even adds marks to the final exams if they are low. Sometimes hard to get out of that B- to B+ range, but just carefully go over his notes and the book and make sure you clarify everything. Final assignment needs a lot of work, make sure you understand it well

Great Prof, passionate about the material,...easy tester --> all multiple choice, all you need to do is attend his lectures and read the book+study guide. Watch out for the assignments though, they are marked by TA's from U of T and they're hardasses.

My love for psychology started here!

I didn't do that great in his course and didn't really enjoy the material. That said, he is an EXCELLENT prof. Psychology majors will love this guy. Very knowedgeable, extremely helpful, and has a sense of humour. Word of warning: he gets really pissed off at students who talk/sleep during lectures, so DON'T DO IT!

He got me realy interested in psych. very Enthusiastic and passionate about psych, his exams are not easy if you dont study. read the book and take notes. I would say he is a reasonable marker. However he could be rude @ time esp to ppl who who sleep during his lecture. I had great time, its worth going to his lectures I actually learned alot.

Funny, smart, kind, and interesting teacher. Wants everyone to get a good mark. Felt his TA's marking was very off but his tests were always quite predictable and rarely tried to trick people. Warning: DON'T SLEEP IN HIS CLASS!

Another wonderful experience with John Turtle! Fantastic class, full of opportunities for discussion-it is a seminar, so attendance and sharing ideas are necessary! Definitely recommend the belief and skepticism course! (content area this semester). Presenting papers alone was a bit intimidating, but he made everyone feel at ease, cheers!

He's very intelligent, clear and organizaed. The exams are straightforward; just read the material! The only problem I have, is that he often reiterates simple concepts, and is CONSTANTLY flailing and pacing on the podium! Nevertheless, he made psychology fascinating!

I had Turtle last semester and as a first year I though he was awesome. He covered all the material and was always welcomed questions. The exams were at least 20percent from the text but were quickly covered in class. He always made joke to get through the boring stuff and overall was enjoyable

I absolutely loved John Turtle, amazing prof. His passion for the material he teaches, and the enthusiasm that comes along with it is great. He's pretty hilarious, and evem the topics the he warns us will be "dry" he makes it as interesting as possible. You need to go to his lectures, and understand the text, but marks very fairly.

Really intelligent and makes lectures worth coming to! Takes the time and effort to make it interesting and exams are unsurprising. Lectures are fun and very interesting with videos and activities! One of the best psych professors!

Took psy of thinking a LONG time ago and it was easily my favourite of all time. I talked about what I was learning in class with friends non stop bc I was so excited. I've gone on to get my master's of social work and it was all because Professor Turtle got me passionate about psychology. A life- changing prof - will never forget him.

Prof Turtle is a very knowledgable professor who wants to see his students succeed. Very considerate & cares about making sure material is understood. Clear grading criteria (essay, midterm, final). Takes the time to explain concepts. Also appreciated the guest speakers who were experts in forensic psychology. Would take a course with him again!

Genuinely one of the sweetest, most caring profs Ive had so far. You can tell he really loves what he does and is rooting for everyone to do well. His exams are very fair and content wise, was pretty great at getting through everything. Would love to take another course with him!

What a sweet and caring professor who roots for his students. He teaches so enthusiastically, and tries to engage everyone through lectures and guest speakers. Midterms were a bit tricky, but fair. Hard marker for the paper, and really no feedback and unclear grading scale for it. But, a solid prof especially if you're interested in this field!

Prof Turtle was a pleasure. He really cares about you and wants you to succeed. He will explains things in class in detail, especially what to expect on exams and the assignment, though the assignment always changes. His short answer questions were easy and he made the final exam open book because of the pandemic. He also was a fair marker. Swell.

Prof Turtle is passionate about the class and the class itself is interesting. However the course is only marked on three things. The test though are a bit difficult. study the lectures and textbook in depth. The essay although easy was marked a bit hard. Overall a good course would recommend taking it not too hard to do well.

Amazing prof and kind individual, but the class was tougher than expected. You really need to read all textbook chapters to do well on the tests. The assignment itself wasn't hard, but it was graded hard (i.e. using a holistic approach). Overall, this course was interesting and definitely learned a lot, and the prof is amazing! But not an easy A!
