Before now, I was taking the class because I was required. The class is very interesting and I'm completely enjoying it. John is very sensitive to our thoughts, concerns, and how we understand the material. Should I ever need another COM class, he'd be the one I look for. :)

John is very helpful and puts himself in your shoes. There is a lot of homework, but once you apply yourself it is interesting.

A real cool class and a cool teacher. He was very fair, understanding and knowledgeable. If you show up to class there is no way to fail.

Very intresting keeps class involved and motivated. I have talked to others who say the class has too much homework compared to other teachers. I think they are probably right LAY OFF the homework JOHN

I had John for my first first Com class in the Spring. His was a fairly hard class, but he was there to help and if you paided attention you could do well. He has been my favorite professor here at Sinclair. Very nice guy!!!

He's a Type A personality, always on the go, and really helpful. He styles the class around all types of learning abilities. He has tests, homework assignments, In class exercises and online quizzes. I really enjoyed coming to class and hearing him teach because I was actually a part and he interacted so well with the class.

This class will shock you. VERY interesting and this prof. makes it fun and interesting! You WILL learn something. very cool.

The best teacher at Sinclair, very helpful,communicate excellent with students, by the end of class you will know what is expected for homework, if not he will take the time to break it down again for you! Mr. Ulrich is AMAZING. I absolutely love him! He makes you work for your grade but he explains in ways where youd have to be an idiot to not get it! He doesnt make you feel stupid for wrong answers. I must say he is by far my favorite teacher Ive had at Sinclair! I think he explains the content very well and will go over it again and again until it is clear. I took this class online. He is very thorough and expects the same of you. If you are looking for an easy A...do not take this class online! However, if you are looking to learn a lot...he's your guy!

I highly recommend this professor! He is awesome at answering questions if you don't understand. He is very entertaining in lectures and highly encourages the students to participate. You have to work for your grade, but he makes you want to try.

Professor Ulrich was very reasonable. You have online quizzes but you have multiple chances to do well. Quizzes also help with the exams. There are some writing assignments that correlate with the chapters gone over. He is very caring and understandable. It's not exactly an easy A but if you're an overall good student you'll do well.

Best professor I've had thus far. He is very passionate about his job and this shows in his lectures. He loves to get the class participating during lecture and has great stories that really helps you remember the topics being discussed. Tests aren't a cake walk but the department makes them, not the teacher, so it's not his fault.

Early into the semester, but am really impressed. I got a ton of thoughtful, honest and helpful feedback on my paper. I've had some professors who will just forward a copy of the rubric in response to specific questions. I was starting to worry...I wish he could teach all of my classes.

This class has literally changed my life. I have never had a professor or teacher that has been so dedicated to their students. I wish EVERY professor showed as much passion for teaching like he does. To him, he wasn't just coming in to collect a paycheck by teaching. He truly was teaching for the love of it. Gives amazing feedback and has no problem being there during and after class to help as much as he can any way that he can. Has a great sense of humor and very welcoming. Ulrich really cares about his students. He has high standards with your best interests in mind- he knows what his students are capable of and wants you to show it. He is not lenient on grading criteria so you'll want to follow his rubrics to a T if you want a chance at an A on assignments. Overall an amazing professor who made me a better student.

If you just want an easy A then don't take his class. John is a tough but FAIR grader. I learned SO much from this class that has helped me to succeed in all of the classes I have taken ever since. Because of John, I have become a better student. Not to mention the amazing letter of recommendation that he wrote for me. John changed my life.

Professor Ulrich is , by far, one of the best professors that I have had at Sinclair. He is a great storyteller and would often have the entire class laughing (and sometimes crying.) He treats every student with a high level of respect, and expects the same. He gives extensive feedback on papers, which I believe made me a better student.

I had Mr. U last semester and he is truly whatI believe a teacher should be. He cares and listens to his students and gives all of them to opportunity to prove themselves. Participation is a big part of his class but, he makes it easy to talk to him.

Prof. Ulrich is the best professor I have had! He was super helpful and gave lots of feedback on writing assignments. The textbook wasn't terribly expensive, but it was definitely necessary for the class. Quizzes about every week, discussions every two weeks, and four 3-4 page papers. I learned lots from this class, and the assignments were fun.

John made lecture very interesting. I started out taking online and I'm glad I switched to face to face. He really cares about his students and the class. You do have to make sure you show up to class though because he will deduct points. He is always available to help even with problems outside of class. Definitely would recommend.

He's so funny! I was really impressed that he could do a bunch of different accents since I love doing them as well. He has a lot of interesting stories about his life, so you definitely know he has experience in his field. Also he's extremely understanding. He sits w/ us to discuss our projects. I only had him for half a semester but he's amazing!

This class was initially the one that gave me the most anxiety. So, I told Mr. U about that and he sat with me after class for nearly an hour just getting to know me. From that moment forward I knew that he was a teacher that genuinely cares and wants his students to see the value of what he teaches. Do your work on time and ask questions.

If you have a chance to take a class with this teacher, you absolutely should! The caliber of work he requires and his openness and willingness to provide quality, helpful feedback help tremendously in subsequent classes. Mr. Ulrich is personable, easy to talk to, kind, thorough, and clearly wants his students to succeed.

He was tough. Was very hard to get an A in the class. I missed a large assignment one time and spent the whole semester catching up so don't miss anything if you can! Must read! Don't expect to get a 100% on anything. But he does have really good feedback. Lectures are good and relatable.

Prof Ulrich responds in a timely manner to emails & is great to talk to if you are struggling to understand something. Writing assignments aren't too difficult and he gives great feedback. There was only 4 writing assignments. You need to read the textbook each week to succeed. I enjoyed the class & it was easy to take online. Understanding Prof!

I LOVED Professor Ulrich! He truly is a great professor and guy overall. His class is very routine - you will have the same assignment schedule every week, which helps keep you on track. His papers require some critical thinking, but his rubrics give you his exact expectations and requirements. I would without a doubt take another course with him.

The class was very lecture-heavy, but he found ways to add in stories and things to make it more entertaining. There are a few big writing assignments, but he is very eager to help if you reach out for help. He's truly a really kind man and I really enjoyed his class.

Incredibly heavy workload. He's an engaged professor and he cares that students learn the material, but I would not recommend his class if you are in other classes like myself. It's hard to keep up in them with the workload from this class alone. I work full time and it's a very stressful balance. Assignments will be incredibly stressful!

He is a good lecturer and teacher. I would suggest taking his class. You will have to really apply yourself. His essays are harder, but he will usually give an outline, which is very helpful to understand how to do well. He also goes out of his way to give good feedback on essays. Overall, though, he is very nice and understanding.

I was worried going into the semester about him due to his rating on here, but I can confidently say he is by far the best professor I have ever had in my two years at Sinclair. He was constantly supporting us and giving us opportunities to ask questions and give our opinions. Do not take him if you cannot make it to the majority of lectures.
