Dude does not post lecture slides, so if you miss one class you are screwed unless you know someone who can give you the notes. His tests are nothing like the textbook and make you feel like you studied for nothing. He is accessible outside of class but is not very helpful. I would not recommend him under and circumstances.

Under no circumstances should you take John Vincent. If you miss class, good luck passing the test, and even if you do, you probably still won't make a decent grade. He gives no study material or curve, and his tests usually contain the least relevant material. His section is harder than the others. 0/10 would not take again.

If you're debating taking this class, please don't do it. He does not post study material, record lectures, or do anything helpful. The homework takes too long and is not accurate to the tests. There is no extra credit or formula sheet on the tests, unlike every other CH101 course. He is rude and makes you feel dumb if you ask a question.\

Hardest section - attending all lectures+reading the textbook isn't enough. Those who do well in his class are those coming in with a good background in chem. No formula sheets on his tests unlike other sections. Test questions are always so obscure that they don't test how well you know the material, but how well you memorized every single detail.

Would not recommend this professor to any student. No formula sheets are given on tests despite other sections receiving such. Answers questions in condescending tone. No outside of class resources, he simply writes everything by hand and if you didn't write it down fast enough you'll never see it again.

Chem 101 is a tough class, if you want an A or a B, be prepared to study quite a lot. Homework will take time and is complicated. After every test he would complain to the class about the poor grades. If you can take another Prof, I'd highly recommend doing so.

He flexes how low his passing rate is and it's weird. He does not post lectures and teaches without a mic in huge lecture halls. He will not post the notes and writes them on paper on a projector before throwing it away. If you miss ONE class, you're cooked. He is easy to access outside of class, but he is no help and horrible at teaching.

Every day, I prayed I would get hit by a bus on the way to class just so that I did not have to endure his class. Only take John Vincent if you hate yourself. I ignored his ratings and regret it. He made you feel bad for asking a question, and made students cry AT 8 AM!!! His class literally made me change my major.

Does not post lectures online, he is your average chem professor. He's not great, but not horrible. All lectures are on the white board so take good notes. He is helpful during office hours and this class is very doable if you're willing to study.

Communally agreed by my whole class that he is a terrible professor. I couldve definitely tried harder in his class but he 1. loved to brag about his failing test grades(?!) 2. doesnt give any formulas or help sheets ( like the other professors do) and 3. acts all goofy and demeaning towards people who ask questions. He is a fast responder tho

if i could rate him below a 1 i would this was genuinely the worst class i've ever had. i went to every class and recitation, taking detailed notes. even with that this class is impossible. you will have hundreds of equations and constants to memorize and nothing he teaches in class applies to his test because he makes them impossible on purpose.

Lectures: average /Recitations: not very helpful if you don't have questions / Exams: concept heavy with you having to memorize formulas and figure it relationships and concepts / Final Exam: VERY close to the previous exam, review them. / Grading: most generous. Overall: THIS IS AN EASY A if you go to class. I didn't.

His lectures are only the simplest concepts, while the exams expect you to know much more. DO NOT take hime unless you want to teach yourself all of chem one. (You need these concepts for orgo.)

His personality kind of sucks, but don't let it or his comments intimidate you. Best tips for you is to teach yourself with the textbook and each chapter's problems; they're very similar to test. I stopped going to class and did fine with this strategy, I made 100s on two exams and 95s on the others.
