Very good teacher! Helpful and knowledgeable! Test are easy and comprehendable! Would recommend to anyone
poor teacher. tests were made poorly and study materials were not helpful. his explanations of the material were poor. you can tell he is a very intelligent man and knowledgeable, but he is incapable of sharing what his knowledge with others. many in my class got a poor grades.
one of his friends must have put he was good. HE IS NOT!!! he will tell you thinkgs just to confuse you. read the book. better understanding than what he will give you. Horrible, horrible, horrible. avoid at all costs. Almost all of my intellignt friends failed!!! one of my friends could not
HE IS SO EASY FOR CHEM LAB! IF YOU ARE NOT GREAT AT LAB REPORTS-TAKE HIM! HE IS GREAT! HE IS MONOTONED, BUT VERY FUNNY. I LOVE HIM AND AM GOING TO TAKE HIM FOR MY CHEM LAB 104
do not take this guy if you struggle with chemistry.
I have one word for this man HORRIBLE. DO NOT TAKE.
He is not a good teacher at all. He knows the material well, but does a horrible job at teaching it to the class.
His tests were crazy. For quizzes he would ask us stuff that we never learned and the lab book does not explain things very good. He just pulled random questions out of thin air.
He is an easy teacher. You seriously have to be STUPID to make a bad grade in his class. I hate chemistry more than anything and I had an A in CLAB 103. It is seriously impossible to make a bad grade!
He is very easy. If you miss some work, he is so cool about make ups. It is very easy to get an A in this class. If you are not very good in Chemistry, take him. He is easy!
not very clear expects us to know things that are sometimes not in the manual...helpful with the labs
At first, I did not like him, but I went to his office and he just like changed my grade! He loves to help you out, you just have to make the effort. Take notes when he is explaining the experiment and you will do fine on the quizzes. He is very sweet and seriously he will help you if you make one ounce of effort!
mostly math on test
he is the funniest professor i've ever had. he is very nice. if you ever have any problems he is always willing to help you. he is an awesome teacher!!! hurry and take him!!!
I had him for both labs and I have recommended him to anyone who will listen. Everyone that has taken him has said the same thing I have: as long as he thinks you want the grade, he will give it to you. It is so easy to make an A in this class! If you are not good in Chem, take him!!! You will not regret it!
He is not helpful at all when it comes to finals!!! Do not take him unless you are really good at math because it is mostly math on the finals.
Very Helpful with the labs but not helpful at all with finals and midterms. As for the person who said he will give u the grade you want if you go to his office, i wish i would have known that. He gave me a damn C when i deserved at least a B
Extremely strict on due dates, i was absent the first week school started after the hurricane and he would not except ANY late paperwork. Mid-terms and Finals are all math and does not give any study guides as to what we might expect on those exams. If possible, avoid taking him!!!
I really liked him. He is very helpful during the labs, and if you study the quizes he gives, then you will do good on the exams.... I highly recomend!
Not clear at all. He can't teach, simple as that. I would NOT reccommend you take him. However his tests are mostly math but I would like to learn something more than math in Chemistry. Also he gives all these irrelevant notes thats have nothing to do with whats on the test. Don't take him.
easy easy nice nice
No Way, dont take this guy. Very confusing and not very helpful, he makes you feel stupid when you ask questions. Even attending all the labs will not help, VERY hard!!!! and VERY RUDE!!!!!
I really liked this professor!! His tests were EXACTLY like his reviews and he gives you the dates of all tests in the syllabus. If you do all of the problems that he assigns you, (not as homework, but for your benefit) YOU WILL BE SUCCESSFUL in this class. I am taking him right now and I made and A on both tests. I suggest taking him. HELPFUL
Writes every single word out of his mouth on the board; works plenty of problems; very good teacher; not difficult at all
YOU NEED TO HAVE A GOOD BASE IN BASIC ALGEBRA BEFORE YOU TAKE HIS CLASS. HE REVIEWS THE MATH VERY QUICKLY, SO IF YOU'VE NEVER SEEN IT, YOU WILL STRUGGLE. DO YOUR HOMEWORK TO PREP FOR THE TESTS OR YOU WON'T DO WELL. VERY PROFESSIONAL. TRUELY AN ACADEMIC. YOU WILL HAVE TO WORK TO MAKE A GOOD GRADE. DON'T MISS HIS CLASS. HE GOES FAST.
He is nice but he kinda goes way too fast in his lectures and his handwriting is atrocious so I reccommend sitting next to someone that can read his hieroglyphics. Other than that, he is somewhat helpful and Kellie his assistant is extremely helpful. Go to her for clarification but his reviews are nothin like the tests. So Good luck if you get him.
He is an awesome teacher. Might not explain things perfectly, but you should go home and work out the problems in the book--doing that will ensure an A on the test. He is willing to help you with the class and if you go to class, pay attention, and work out the problems for the chapters, you should have NO PROBLEM WITH THIS CLASS! Take this prof
his class consists of taking notes and that's about it. the tests are on scantrons with 25 questions...very hard..i got D's on my first two tests...i wouldn't recommend him to anyone.....
Great teacher. really knows his stuff. writes everything on the board including example problems. he tells you in the syllabus which problems to work for each chapter and that is where his problems for the test come from. his tests are usually scantron with 40 questions. have to study and work problems to pass tests.
Dr. Waggenspack's class is very difficult but if you take time to go to class and study you will pass. You just have to put forth the effort. Its very face paced and I noticed people dropping like flies. My only complaint is that every class you write about 6 pages of notes. You dont do anything else but write! My hand would hurt after every class!
I liked him. His class is extremely boring and there are ALOT of notes. He usually ended class early. His voice is very mellow and calm. He's kinda nerdy but cool. He's very friendly and helpful. His tests start off easy but get pretty hard. I probably would take his class again.
He stinks at teaching
This has got to be the Hardest class i have every taken DO NOT take this class unless you are a chemistry Genious..... I got a B in chem 101 and i am failing this class pathetically...
EVIL!!!!!!!!! This guy should not be a teacher! He just tells you the info and says be ready for the test! So pretty much you teach yourself. If you are good at that then this is the right guy for you!
He goes really fast. He makes you take a lot of notes, and he doesn't go over things as thoroughly as he needs to.
this is a horrible teacher he doesn't teach he just right alot i mean alot of notes and doesn't expalin any of it DON'T TAKE HIM
PLEASE DON'T TAKE HE DON'T TEACH YOU AT ALL. THE ONLY THING HE DO IS GIVE YOU ALOT OF NOTES AND DON'T EXPLAIN ANYTHING. HE ALSO DON'T GIVE FEEDBACK ON TESTS. ON HOW YOU SHOULD HAVE WORK THE PROBLEM.
ok he is a little weird but i liked him for chem lab i even ran into after that semester and he wanted me to take his class again because i understood how to do the labs
you have to take a lot of notes. as long as you know how to work the practice problems at the end of the chapter... & the book explains how... u will pass every test. work them out & study them.that is where he gets test questions from. some questions are copied.sometimes he changes the numbers. if u suck at chem he is the person 2 take.
He is totally out of it!He rambles on and puts you to sleep. Not interesting at all!Went to his office and was no help.He acts as if you should already know everything. His quizzes are hard and offers no bonus.Stay far, far away!
I Love him! You take a lot of notes, but it's everything you need to know! I also had him for CLAB 103. He's awesome! He is more than happy to help if you go to his office, trust me I was there many times because chem is not my thing! Take him, he's great!
okay soo i am usually an A or B grade person but not with him. He was a horrible teacher...very boring and put me to sleep. The tests were really hard and I failed the class. I would not recommend taking him.
I took him for 101 and 102 and did good in both. He does not make it easy but he is willing to help you anytime you need. his tests come straight from the text book. you will be fully prepared for the test if you work the reccommended homework problems. class is boring, but very straight forward. if i had to do it over i would def. take him again.
I enjoyed taking his class. Although we did take a lot of notes if u don't understand something please go and ask him he is more than willing to help
HORRIBLE! He is rude. He doesn't explain anything that will be on the tests and expects you to know the information. His tests are hard and he grades hard. You have a test everyweek and an assignment due so you cant miss and he doesn't give partial credit.
He isnt very good at giving great detail when it comes to teaching For practice you HAVE TO do the practice problems at the end of each chapter in order for you to do DECENTLY well.he give a reviewday but the questions he review are BARLEY on the test His test only consist of 10 questions. he gives credit for effort;i say TEACH urself from the book
I took his lab class and it was very easy! All you do is the workbook and he always lets you out early from labs. He will help you answer any question in your lab book if you ask!
HE WAS ONE OF MY FAV TEACHERS B/C HE WORKS THRU PROBLEMS AND GIVES PLENTY OF EXAMPLES. AND DOES A THOROUGH REVIEW BEFORE EACH TEST AGAIN WITH EXAMPLES. IF YOU GO TO HIM AND ASK FOR HELP HE HELPS YOU OUT. IN CHEM 102, I WENT INTO FINAL WITH AN A AND KNEW I WAS GONNA FAIL, WENT TO HIM AND I KNOW FAILED FINAL AND ENDED UP WITH AN A, BC HE KNOW I TRIED
He's a little strange, but very nice. Kind of a dry personality, his midterm and final were easy, but the weekly quizzes and lab reports are what sucked. I pulled off an A, he's not as bad as everyone makes him sound.
Hes monotone, but hes a very helpful teacher. Go to his office and he will help you with whatver it is you need help with. He a cool person to talk to one on one. His lab reports is what brought my grade down bc i always waited until the day of class to do it. But if u study for his weekly class it should a fairly easy A
This man is very strange, but he's really nice. He will answer any questions you have in or out of class. Attendance is not mandatory which is great if you know your stuff. If you're not a chem genius, you'll just have to do the suggested homework, and you should do fine.
I had him for the first chem lab and he was fine. Almost everyone in my class hated him b/c they said he was confusing and didn't help you at all (which isn't true). But I mean, you're in college, you're not supposed to be babied. He was a little different, but I thought he was really nice and he would answer any question you asked. I liked him.
Truly a great instructor. I had Mr. Waggenspack for Chem 101 and 103. Answers questions in depth, offers help outside of class. Exams are conversions and mathematical equations but come from practice questions in the text. Unusual by SLU faculty standards which makes him highly refreshing. Good humor and really loosens up towards term end.
I had him for both CLAB 103 and currently CLAB 104. He is a very nice, willing to help, and he tries to make chemistry interesting. Complete the pre-laboratory and lab reports and you will do well. You must come to class or have to make up the lab you miss. It is an easy class. He explains and demonstrates exactly what we had to do in the lab.
Kinda spacey but he's a good professor. Almost begs to help you. Tests are difficult, just do the suggested problems in the book. His notes are thorough but the tests are only problems.
He writes his entire lecture on the board. Four exams, one dropped plus the final. I loved him!! Plus its always awesome when attendance doesn't matter. Do the Suggested Homework for practice...all tests questions from it!!
His lectures consist of him writing notes on the board the entire time. Half the notes you don't need to know for the test. He picks and chooses problems from the back of the chapters in the book to put on the test.Tests are mostly easy if you practice the problems.Comes off as a little weird but is a nice man.You have to work for an A
I had a tutor, did the homework, attended class, wrote my own notes from the chapter and still found myself immensely lost in this man's class. I do not recommend him for Chemistry. He did not offer help. He stood in front of his notes for half the class and erased long before you understood or finished writing them. I will not take him again.
Good teacher
He is a really nice guy. He is so willing to help you when you ask for it. I had a terrible chemistry 101 teacher where I learned NOTHING and he was very helpful when I asked questions and never made me feel stupid for asking questions. You do take a lot of notes but all test questions come right out of homework problems in the book.
Awesome! Awesome professor. You will learn so much. He will make chemistry seem easy. Attend his class and you will do well!
DO NOT TAKE THIS MAN. He doesn't help you with the lab or the quizzes did only way he will help you with your work is if you ask him or go to his office for help. Not a good teacher and a very weird man. Take someone else for this class if you want a grade higher than D.
Great Teacher
Pretty good teacher!
Do not take him..test are very hard.no multiple choice test. All questions require you to show your work.he moves really fast and he don't teach he just write problems on the board and solve them..horrible teacher do not take him
Biggest annoyance was his tests. The harder questions are worth 2-3 times more points than others, so knowing 90% of the material doesn't mean getting a 90% on the test. No curve and no extra credit opportunity. Very monotone when speaking.
He is a horrible instructor. All he does is give notes. All of his test questions do come from the homework, however, he does not work enough problems in class to understand. When you do ask him explain, he does not do a good job. He only offers 4 tests, and no other points, and no bonus points, no homework points, etc. He does drop lowest test.
He is very helpful and a great instructor. He will help you with anything you need and is felxiable if you miss a lab. I would reccommend him to anyone taking chem lab
hes a really good teacher an very willing to help you out if youre confused. The subject itself requires you to pay attention and study so anyone who fails, it was likely their own fault. the exams covered what he went over in class and he gives a review before all exam; plus all exam questions are pulled from the textbook.
This class was extremely difficult. For his first test I studied all of our notes and failed. For the second test I studied the review questions and the notes and failed. He submits no other grades but the four tests which makes it very difficult to bring up a bad grade. He writes straight from his notes and does not teach the information.DONT TAKE
He is very nice, and very willing to help. Tests aren't multiple choice, but he gives significant partial credit. 4 exams plus final, and he drops lowest exam. I had no background info, as this was my 1st chem class, and I got an A. If you can do the suggested homework, you will do well on the exams. If I needed another chem, I would take him again
I would highly recommend him. He dishes out enough partial credit for at least trying to answer questions and curves significantly to give you a grade or two up. Very nice, funny, and answers any questions you have. I probably got at least 1/4 of the final wrong and still made an A overall. No attendance policy, but going to class will help you.
DO NOT TAKE ! He is the worst teacher. He just spends the whole class writing notes on a chalk board. The notes are pointless bc they're not even on the test , just the actual problems are and he barely goes over those . If you want to teach yourself from the textbook, then he's a great choice .
Dr. Waggenspack is awesome! He is super helpful with the labs and makes himself available in his office if you have any questions. His quizzes are kind of tricky but as long as you review the lab before, you should do fine.
This class was terrible. He spends all class writing on a chalkboard that is very hard to read. Assumes everyone understands everything about chemistry. Tests are hard, he does give credit for trying on his tests though. He will help if you ask. Very monotone.
He is a tough teacher! He writes on a chalk board and talks. He assumes we know what he is talking about and continues. He doesn't give quizzes, homework for credit, or bonus points. Just 4 exams !
DO NOT TAKE HIM!! By all means, please take this warning. If he is the only chem 107 teacher left, then wait until next semester! He babbles on and on about things that won't even be on the test. He does like 2 problems and expects you to know it. Tests are problems straight from the book but even if you study its difficult. I dropped with a 3.8
awesome
I don't know what everyone is complaining about, I thought he was a great teacher! I thought he was kind of cute too ;)
I really enjoyed and respected Waggenspack as a teacher, however this class was no walk in the park. The class is passable, however you have to do a lot of homework (not graded) outside of class. So much information was covered that I felt as though this class could have been split into two classes. Overall, this class is a real character-builder.
if you are a Nursing major, DO NOT take this class. I had a 3.9 GPA going in, and I had to drop the course because I nearly failed. No quizzes, no assignments for extra credit, only 4 tests. If you don't do the homework problems that are "suggested" you will fail the tests. Lectures have NOTHING to do with test material.
I worked my butt off for this one credit class. The teacher was absolutely no help. He also talked to his students in a demeaning way. Loves to make you feel stupid. Rude and harsh. I walked into the final with an A and now I think I might have a C in the class. (Yes, the final was really that bad, even after studying for it.) stressful.
He goes over what will be on the test at the end of each lecture. He is great and very easy. No reason why anyone should not pass this class.
This dude is so funny! The way he talks and his mannerisms remind me of Jack Sparrow. There's a quiz every class. There's a prelab due every class. There's a lab report (short answer questions) due every class. The work isn't hard, it might take an hour to complete all the stuff to turn in. Midterm and final are easy.
APPLIES TO NURSING MAJORS. This class is not a walk in the park. Don't come in thinking it will be an easy A. You have to do a lot of homework that is not for a grade, but this homework will help you! His lectures are long but he does go over the material by doing sample problems. Do the assigned work and ask him questions. Asking him really helps!
Everyone complains about this class, but the ones who do are most likely the ones who do not spend time in the textbook. He is so helpful. He really wants his students to pass and tries his best to make students understand the material. WORK THE PROBLEMS IN THE BOOK and go to his office. This class is not easy with any teacher, but he is so caring!
This professor was my favorite during the Fall semester. He was really good with explaining complex chemical equations into a more simplified way. I don't like pop quizzes and he never gave any. His grading criteria was so clear and you'll never be shooting in the dark while studying; literally do the homework and you'll pass. Just awesome.
He is an awesome professor. He may not seem like it at first, but he really does care for his students. He is very approachable and willing to help you understand chemistry better, especially if you stay after class or go to his office hours! No quizzes, just test. DO ALL THE PROBLEMS IN THE BOOK!!! That's how you'll pass his test!!
I had to take this class for my major. I would suggest only taking this class if you already have a basic understanding of chemistry. I don't consider him a very good professor. But, hey, I passed. So take what you will.
It's pointless to even go to class. You basically learn on your own. His power points are pointless. If you're a nursing major and you KNOW you aren't the best at Chemistry, get out NOW!!!!!! You'll thank me later.
This class is very difficult in general, so you must work hard to achieve a good grade. The homework he gives is not mandatory to do, but all test questions come from them, so I would recommend doing them. If you skip class, there is no way you will pass. He is very willing to help whenever you need it. USE his office hours if you need extra help.
He has the student's best interest in mind, however, he assumes everyone coming in this class already knows chemistry and has a hard time "dumming it down" for those who don't. He reads off PowerPoints so you have to keep up and write everything down- making it extremely difficult to pay attention to what he is actually trying to teach.
Must have a basic chem background to understand him. He moves very fast. The homeworks are optional and are not graded but do them, that's where majority of his test questions come from. STUDY AND PRACTICE for every exam. They are not easy.
The worst chemistry professor there is at Southeastern. If your not in class, you won't pass. He doesn't explain anything, and it's beneficial to do your homework problems that are suggested.
Class was difficult but his test come from the homework. He does not grade the homework but he does drop your lowest test grade. His test are tricky and the wording is very confusing and if you ask him questions he does not answer them. Do not take him if you are a slow writer he goes so fast and does not post Power points online.
Waggenspack wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Show up to class, do prelabs and lab reports, and quizzes are fair. There is only a midterm and final so you have to do good on them. Overall he isn't a hard professor but the course isn't super easy. You have to work for your grade.
Chemistry is a tough course. He explains things very well, though. He starts with the basics. He does move pretty quickly, so either type your notes, or rewrite them later, because they WILL be messy! If you ask him a question, he'll answer. He wants everyone to do well. Do the assigned problems, and pay attention.
Lectures are very fast paced and if you do not understand something chances are he is already 3 slides ahead of the one you are stuck on.
DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!! THE MOST DIFFICULT PROFESSOR EVER
This class is so hard and he literally just lectures off his power points WHICH HE DOESNT PUT ON MOODLE, he also doesnt out grades on moodle. He goes so fast through the power points you barely have time to right it down, then after an hour of power points he takes a ten minute break then does problems for another 40 or so minutes.
This is a pretty tough class in itself but he doesn't go out of his way to make it any easier. DO THE PROBLEMS IN THE BOOK (even though they aren't required) and READ YOUR TEXTBOOK. He moves very fast so pay attention. If you get stuck on something it'll be extremely difficult to catch back up since he moves so fast.
He reads off the powerpoint very quickly. He is horrible when it comes down to test, no help at all. I would NEVER take him again. AVOID.
Extremely difficult! He reads straight from the powerpoints (which aren't posted on moodle so you have to write everything) and is monotone. He does hardly explains anything and when he does youre too busy trying to write the notes so it is hard to pay attention. The tests are really hard and you have to do the textbook problems if you want to pass
He may seem prude at first but towards the end of the semester, he starts to become more friendly. Four tests, 20 MC and 5 constructed response 4 pts. per question and he drops the lowest test grade. You must show up to class because he doesn't post slides on Moodle. Only chemistry background was in basic chem in sophomore year of high school.
a mess :( still dont know how i passed.
You basically teach yourself in this class but honstely if you study his notes and do the problems in the book you will pass. Long class and pretty hard but it is doable if you devote time to it. He sucks as a teacher and thinks everyone is a chemistry major, but I did fine and I suck at chemistry so he must be doing something right.
This class was pretty hard and fast-paced. He doesnt use moodle or post powerpoints so you really cant miss a single class. Do the problems he assigns from the book; they arent graded but some of the test questions come from them. Also, he expects students to have prior knowledge of chemistry so if you dont, it will be extremely difficult.
Class sessions are mandatory. DO NOT MISS ONE DAY. In the beginning do not get comfortable you will start off doing great, but it is really easy to fall behind. I will not say he is not a good professor because he is. He know his chemistry, and he do not mind helping. You just have to apply yourself and ask for help when you need it.
You have to do a lot of homework problems and the tests are based of that. If you dont do the homework you wont pass. I would recommend reading the textbook before each class so you understand his lectures. Getting an A is possible but you have to put in a lot of work. If you need help he is very helpful in his office hours.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!! Absolutely do not take him if you are a nursing major and need to pass. The homework is what the tests are based off of, and they are not. Pretty much impossible to make an A. So yeah, don't take Dr. Waggenspack :)
Show up to class, take notes! He's very willing to help you. He cares about students. He does think like a chemist though, and can be a bit confusing. Just ask him to clarify!
powerpoints arent online so dont skip. the tests are straight from the homework he assigns in the book so DO IT. he is always willing to help and does reviews every class. 4 tests and the final is cumulative which is actually good because the last section is biochemistry which is HARD. the organic section was also awful but he drops a test grade
Highly do not recommend. He does not help or give any extra credit besides tests. The final was complete opposite of what he told us to study for. Doesnt email back fast so dont expect a quick response. I needed this class for nursing and studied my butt off the whole semester and ended half a point away from a C and he would not round me up.
Lecture heavy/only 4 Tests&final but out of all the prof. for Chem107, he is probably the better of the evil(s). His tests are ALL math problems, but the final is multi choice w/ general questions. He drops the lowest test out of 4. You don't NEED to go to class but you should if you want to pass. DO ALL REVIEW PROBLEMS AFTER CLASSES & IN THE BOOK!
I HATE THIS CLASS!! DO NOT TAKE unless you want to take 10 pages of notes each day. There are five test including the final( which is comprehensive) and the lowest test score is dropped. Lectures are very boring. As the lecture goes on, his handwriting gets worse and he moves so fast. Not hard, just a very annoying trying to keep up.
Theres 2 options for chem 107 professor, choose the other professor. His lectures are not posted to moodle so you have to be in class to get the notes. Do every single textbook problem, because it will somehow show up on the test. The review problems he gives you are NOT going to be on the test, so do not study that.
Professor Waggenspack clearly knows his material but his ability to teach this bevy of information is lacking. It is great that he knows all of the material but this doesn't translate well to students that do not or this is their first chemistry class. You will write instead of listen and practice during class. I would not recommend him at all.
This guy is terrible. I took him for chem lab, he didnt post anything. Didnt know my grade until the end of the semester. We had to switch to online and all he did was give us lab data. I didnt know what most of the stuff he was sending anyway. Just dont take him take someone else.
I was in the class when the pandemic hit & everything went online. Had that not happened, I would've failed. He's a nice teacher, but he doesn't know how to teach. He just reads the ppts. insanely fast for the first hour of class & then does 30 minutes of problems. Some test questions are from textbook. Takes FOREVER to put grades in Moodle.
Do NOT take this professor if you have little knowledge of chemistry. His classes consist of him reading the powerpoint word for word and then him doing practice problems for the last 30 mins of class. The tests are straight out of the practice problems in the book. He goes way too fast and whatever he says in class is a waste of time.
He reads from powerpoints that are on moodle. word for word. his tests are all math problems, no multiple choice, he'll take off points if even a part of the answer wrong but final answer right. its ALOT of material. no homework or quizzes you would think would be awesome, its not. take dr booth instead and deal with the loads of homework
Dr. Waggenspack was my least favorite class to go to ever. Its extra long since its 4 hours and he grades by 4 test(drops lowest) which are all fill in the blank, and a MC final. Do the practice problems to get an A and go to at least every other class, definitely the reviews before the test.He was just so boring and lackluster.
This class was by far my least favorite to go to and everything he said went in one ear and out the other, I taught myself everything by reading the textbook and doing the practice problems he recommended. Graded by 4 test and a final. He was so boring and I wanted to cry every time I went to his class.
The grade comes from 4 exams and the lowest grade gets dropped. Optional homework and he reads straight from the PowerPoint during class. If you have never taken chemistry before I would recommend not taking his class. You do notes for an hour and then you do practice problems the rest of class.
Does not have anything on moodle and does not enter the grades. Says you can calculate grades yourself. Everything in course is from lab manual.
Great professor and great guy! He is very kind and will hear you out if you have a problem with something or a question. He only grades on 4 exams and will drop one if the grade is bad to improve your overall grade. DO THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS. the test is literally the practice problems in the textbook. Take him!
Far more work than expected. He said on the first day that it would be difficult to get an A. We were tested on material we hadn't' gotten to yet. He apologized. Questions on final not clear. Unless chem comes very naturally to you, you won't do well. This was like trying to speak a foreign language with math and experiments.
Would not recommend. If you take him, you will be teaching yourself the material.
Very kind. Always willing to help. Lectures before each lab. Gave a quiz each week. Lots of work! be prepared to spend a lot of time working on this class's assignments.
He is very helpful if you reach out! Every lab for this course is a lot of homework no matter who your professor is, but he made it a little more difficult with how he gave the material needed to complete hw. There is a quiz every week and exams are constructed response so rip.
The lectures are nothing compared to what is actually on the exam. If you do not look at the homework's, then you won't be passing the tests. If you only focus on the lectures, then you will fail the exam. He drops the lowest grade which is nice, but it only gets harder from the first exam.
Be prepared to teach yourself! mostly his entire exam is based on the textbook, don't even look at his power points, He is a very nice person just cannot teach that well. He only grades you on your exams so no homework, or extra credit so beware, but he does drop your lowest grade which is helpful.
Loved having Dr. Waggenspack for my biochem lab. He was so laid back and helped whenever he was asked a question. He's very descriptive for the lecture part of the lab. There are quizzes every lab from the week prior and the lab reports are super simple. He lets us work in partners and let's us do almost all of it on our own. Highly recommend him.
His lectures are basically irrelevant. He doesn't actually TEACH the math portion of chemistry, he just starts doing practice problems and you have to catch on to how he is solving them to understand how to do it. His exams are solely math problems, not really anything he lectured about. You will DEFIENTLY be teaching yourself in this class.
All I can say about this professor is that you will teach yourself. There are 4 tests and the final determining your grade, no buffers. I only made a good grade because of the recommended textbook problems and outside tutoring. The one nice thing about this class is that he drops the lowest test grade. If you take Professor Waggenspack, good luck.
The lectures are dry, but the textbook and practice problems are key to succeeding. Stick with it, and Unstuck AI can be a helpful study tool alongside the free textbook resources.
The Survey of Chemistry class is very difficult no matter who you take it with. He lectures for 50 minutes, gives a 10 minute break, then does practice problems for the last 40 minutes. He reviews before tests. You HAVE to use the textbook and teach yourself from there but he will answer your questions. You get to drop one test, but not the final.
I'm gonna be real this class is just a difficult class in general. I did not find the lectures to be the most interesting however the textbook work is 100% the way to ace this class. There are 4 exams and you get to drop the lowest plus the final which is cumulative. I honestly would recommend taking
This is a very hard class in general. you have to put in a ton of your own effort to be successful but he is a very sweet guy and it will definitely prepare you for nursing school
