pretty good teach goes over material a lil 2 fast but wut teach doesn't gives hwrk (sum 4 marks) so do it, it helps only disadvantage is his finalz 50% havent done it yet so cant say wut its like

I found him extremely easy ... others in the class had a hard time learning off of him. Sometimes he wouldn't explain the chapter very well, but if you read the text book you'll be fine. Also you always have your group to help you out if needed. His final was easy .. finished in 45mins .. know the material = good grade on final

Watch who you sit by in the beginning of the class... dont sit by dumbasses, because you'll be paired with them. Learn the material. GET interested. I did that and got an A in the class. DO all your work (he only lets you make up one/two missing assignments). If you do the HW you'll do great on the final. Great guy.. which I had him for Acct

Not a bad. I really don't like math/accounting and this class wasn't too bad. You have to keep up with the work and read the material. Johns a good guy, easy to get along with. Make sure you are sitting with smart people because you do all of your assignments as a group.

it's accounting.. most profs arent easy. Western tries. his tests are fine. but you have to do the hw to do well on the tests.. its not like english where you can BS your way through the class. i highly recommend him. compared to the other accounting profs, he's one of the best

Great teacher! Takes the time to explain things to you. Puts you in groups so you can work with other people and so they can also help you out if you don't get what's going on. He looks so much like Eugene Levy that its hard not to think about American Pie during his class! :P

He's a very caring, kind teacher. Exams are pretty hard and lengthy. If you are the type of person who needs help on hw through email, he's not going to get back to you until it's due.

all his exam questions are from the exercises in the txt and HE POSTS THE ANSWERS. do those and theres no way you cant get an A. for all you lazy ppl not willing to put the time in to do the exercieses thats why you fail. hes easy and hell help you when you have a question

Awesome instructor - hard course. No surprises - pay attention and try to understand the concepts - ask questions - John is very approachable and provides relevant information. I hope he sticks around until I am done my BBA - I highly recommend him! Solid A+ just do the concept related questions - one of my favorite professors.

Good teacher. Tests on pretty much exactly what you do in class.. most questions are from the textbook.. Hard course but if you really keep up he tests very fairly. I had John for 1210 as well and he was excellent.

John is a good teacher but lazy. Its works out good during exams because all his question are from the text book.

All questions on Midterms are from the textbook..simple class

He's probably one of the most fair professor in terms of marking in the Accounting division. He doesn't typically knitpick over minor mistakes, but will indicate it so that you don't make the same one again. Practice your text book, questions he gives out, your homework questions is your mid-term/exams. Will take him again in the future hopefully

Knowledgeable- he can give you a lot of info on the course material. However, he lectures very quickly so must pay attention at all times to learn everything. Exams are based on textbook questions, so doing hw will help with your grade.

John is very approachable & professional. His technique is to teach students to learn on their own. He doesn't lecture a lot. Class time is used mostly in practicing the exercises in the textbook. He's very helpful in answering questions one-on-one. However, if you didn't read the material before class, you will have difficulty understanding.

John is one of the best accounting profs at kpu. Only take intermediate accounting if you are committed to put in the effort and there is no way you can't do well in this class. He tells you to focus on the important topics so make sure to attend all the classes and pay attention at all times. Thanks John Western!!

Acct 3110 is hard. It's depend upon the teacher how he relate course material. I like the style of teaching of John. Interesting lectures. Best prof so far...

Great teacher with experience in the field that he relates to for the lessons. Gives lots of practice questions in class and goes around helping students. Marks come from the 2 midterms, final and WileyPlus homework. Spending time reading the material, doing the practice questions and the online homework made the course really easy.

If you practice on the exercise that you did in the class, you will pass EASILY.
