Very enthusiastic about the subject. Very helpful with any concerns. Tests are difficult because he uses a lot of double negatives. If you go to class and take really good notes the class is fun and totaly passable...but challenging.

He's not easy. You do have to study, but he's very helpful and available for you. Tests can be hard and he expects you to know your information. But, he's a good teacher.

He was a very good teacher. He knows his material and he explains everything thoroughly. He's extremely nice and helpful. He's always in his office when u need him. He teaches sorta fast and his tests are hard.. so u have to study and read..but he's a great guy and i recommend his class..:-)

I enjoyed having this guy's class because of a few reasons. He is a real person and he knows how to talk about interesting subjects unlike some other biology professors. He makes passing his class as easy as saying the alphabet. He will give you the time of day when no one else will. Peace.

This is difficult material. If you study and follow his study guide sheets you should have no problem. If you didn't do well you just weren't giving enough time and effort. He would always answer questions and explain over again in a different format when you said you still didn't understand.

Awesome prof for a difficult topic!Record his class & make copies of his ppt slides b4 class and you will be set for an A.Do all his study guides and yes,u must study. No free pass here but you will learn and he is very helpful if you show effort and desire to succeed. Recording lectures,do study guides & study = guaranteed A!

I LOVED this man! He was always available, either in his office or by email. And for those of you who say he is hard... Try reading the Power Points that he has downloadable. Or maybe reading your book. Hey, I'm a mommy, homemaker, and work too, and I got an A. He expects no less than any other professor on this campus. Take him, he's great.

Whitlock is a very informative, structured teacher. I was told of the horrors of his class. Rubbish! I learned more in this class (which I dreaded) than I could have imagined. Must use critical thinking skills on his exams. Lectures stick with you, thus, tons of study not required. Kudos Whitlock!

I've taken Whitlock for A&P and Microbiology. If you want to walk away from class actually having learned something- take Whitlock. He is by far the best teacher I've ever had. This does not mean the class is easy! Serious students only.

This is the best teacher ever. It is a hard class, and no matter what teacher you take it's hard stuff. but if you study and take notes, and STAY AWAKE you'll do good. You really have to want to know the information otherwise you're not going to understand it. HE'S AWESOME!!!

Mr. Whitlock is my favorite Health Sciences teacher. He is very thorough in his lectures and explains everything in great detail. Answers all student questions and is knows his profession very well. I would recommend him to anyone out there. As long as you study and pay attention, you should do well in the course.

The course itself is difficult but Mr. Whitlock is an awesome teacher...he makes you want to learn the material. I took this course in summer session, so there was only 2 tests and a lot of material but if you study hard, you'll do fine!!!

AWESOME AWESOME Professor. Very smart Man!!!! He uses PowerPoint with his lectures. If you study very hard on your study guide and understand the questions . You will do fine. I took him in Summer and it was great!!!!

You will have two tests and 2 quizzes. For the tests you receive a study guide, drop it off and you get 5 points, he gives you the study guide back so you can study for the test. He almost uses all the questions from the study guide for the test. Anything is on powerpoint. If you study you will get an A.

Awesome teacher! He goes out of his way to make sure you understand what he's teaching - puts his lecture notes online, lots of reviews, and very available to his students. His class wasn't easy but if you put even just a little effort into it, you'll do fine!

This teacher is extremely intelligent and is very helpful if you ask. This is a hard class, lots of memorization, but you actually learn something. He is very fair and tries very hard to make sure you understand what he is lecturing about.

Great Teacher!!! He is very smart and this course has alot of info. to memorize but he makes it fun and interesting. He does all his lecture from power pt. so you wont need the text book, but it's a good idea to buy his power pt. form the book store only $4!

I had heard how hard micro was and I was terrified to take this class, but Mr. Whitlock changed my mind quickly. He is wonderful at explaining things into basic concepts and he is on top of current events. He grades tests almost immediately, he will go above and beyond for his students. He is awesome. If you need Mico definitely take him.

Excellent teacher, If you have to take this class you should take Whitlock. And remember to go to the Campus bookstore and purchase his booklet, that is where he test from. You can also go to his faculty webpage and print off practice tests that will help you study for your tests and quizes in his class.

At first the language used in the class can seem foreign, but Whitlock is ultra helpful and easy to talk to!

I took his micro class about a year ago and now I am at USF. Let me tell you that if you think his class is difficult then you are just not ready for college. He is an excellent teacher who has a lot of knowledge and cares that his students understand what he is saying... and he is super hot!!

Professor Whitlock is a very nice guy and really loves Microbiology. Be prepared to do well on the first quiz and exam as Professor Whitlock definitely turns up the heat for the final quiz and exam. Start studying agents of disease the first week of class!! I enjoyed this class and studied hard for my A. You DO NOT need the textbook for this class.

Took him for bio. foundations. Nice guy. 2 exams a mid term and a final study hard he gives reviews online with the questions word for word w/ no answers. Most review ?s can be filled in in class so bring reviews with you. One project, pretty easy. fair grader. lectures can get a little long-winded and lost a lot of ppl in my class. (zzz)

Hands down the best teacher I've ever had,I took him for a&p 1 and microbiology.He is veryy helpful if you are having problems with understanding something.I wish that he taught a&p 2 so I could take him but he doesnt.I would highly recommend taking him to anyone.I'm not really big into studying at all and still did good.He makes class interesting.

VERY VERY VERY EASY.. if u study. All test made from slides provided by teacher.. very helpful and smart.. gets to the point and and test are basic.. 50-60 Q's. 6 extra credit Q's. Got over 95 on all test. Only way to fail is to not study. Attendence not manditory

Very fair. I definitely recommend this professor. If you are "financially strapped", you can avoid purchasing the book and still work with classmates and the lecture notes he has published for the class. Buy the book, if you can afford it. Don't be stupid. Very flexible with issues affecting you/class as long as you give notice. Highly recommended

He is awesome! I enjoyed having him for lecture and lab! Although the class can be tough, he's always willing to help and the tests come straight from the notes! (it's just alot of info!) you do NOT need the textbook. He offers a notebook already with the slides he'll be presenting in class. would definently take him again!

Great teacher! Very helpful! Gives take home quizzes to help your final grade. If you can memorize, you will do well. Don't buy the book-tests come from lecture notes you buy in bookstore. Go to every class and write down what he says in class-those things will be on tests.

This class was incredibly interesting, yet very difficult at times. Mr. Whitlock goes over the chapters with slides and everything else is left up to you to remember and take notes on. The class consists of a few in-class quizzes and a couple take-home quizzes. There is a midterm and a final which of course make up the majority of your grade.

I LOVED this professor! He was GREAT! I had him or A & P I and Micro lecture & lab. A & P I was not as good as Micro, but still good. He is VERY passionate about teaching Micro, I wouldn't recommend anyone else for this class but Whitlock. He wants you to learn & do well. I was nervous about taking Micro and landed up loving it. He is a great teach most of his tests are take home and his exams he gives 66 questions but only count for 60, so its virtually impossible to fail. he explains everything really well.

LOVED THIS PROFESSOR!!! He's, fun, interesting, informative and he clearly cares that his class succeeds. Old enough to know his stuff, but young enough to relate to the class. He provides you with the materials you need necessary to do well in his class. Listen to lecture, take notes, study, pass. It's that easy.

HE IS AMAZING! not only is he dorky, funny, & cute (in a nerdy way) he also loves his material & loves explaining himself. he's study guild; however, are NOTHING like the exam but he's an amazing teacher.

I enjoyed the classes and learned a lot. Go to class, take good notes, record the lecture if you need to and go over a little once a week and you totally pass with an A. In lecture you don't need to buy the book, he has lecture notes you can buy at the book store for less than $5. Highly recommend him!

This teacher is pretty cool, he is very knowledgeable and ALWAYS willing to answer questions. The exams are ridiculously easy, all you have to do is the review he gives you and the exam questions are exactly the same. Class attendance is interesting but not necessarily, no in-class assignments & all review questions can be found in the book.

Prof. Whitlock is an amazing teacher! Being there in his class was the brightest part of my day! He explains things clear and sometimes cute. I learned so much in his class and I would really reccomend him to others. I already have actually!!! If you want to learn Microbiology then this is your man!

Professor Whitlock is the best micro teacher at HCC DM. His notes and exams are very straightforward (make sure you study). Memorize the notes/ pay close attention when he takes extra time on a topic. His exams are 66 questions but only 60 count toward the grade. Don't buy the textbook b/c he provides all the info you will need to pass with an A!

i'm so glad that i take him. he is far more than awesome. MCB isn't easy, but if you want a teacher who provides you everything to get an A, then he is the one. his test is straight forward and crystal clear. there are 2 big tests and some small assignments.Lab is not as good as lecture, but it's super easy.highly recommend him!

nice professor but based most of the grade on just two exams gives 2 take home quiz and 2 practice quiz that he grades with a puzzle for extra credit but based my overall grade on just the 2 in class quizes hard exams I recomend him if you are good at craming in every thing you learned in 2 exams felt like a summer class

Took for lab (summer). E-A-S-Y. I had Bess for lecture (big mistake). One of the girls in my group had him for lecture and said he was super easy but really boring. He is super personal and makes you feel so comfortable. I really enjoyed his class.

I took this professor for both Microbiology and Anatomy & Physiology 1. He is very knowledgeable and helpful. He expects you to learn the material and will do anything he can to make sure you do. He makes the subject fun. There is usually just a midterm and then a final that make up the main percentage of your grade. Maybe some extra credit.

He is a VERY HELPFUL teacher. This class is not easy to begin with, so you can't just expect to sleep and get an A. If you keep up with your studying, everything will make sense to you. Mr. Whitlock finds every way possible to help his students get a higher grade. Too bad he doesn't teach BSC1086

I had Mr. Whitlock for MCB-1000L Lab. He was understandable, entertaining, educational, and clear as to grading. There were no surprises as to what he expected, and you can tell he truly cares about his students. He is very patient and willing to explain exactly what he requires for the grade you want. I'd take him again.

His test are hard, but he is extremely helpful and very kind. He will always answer emails. Im not a good test taker and still passed his BSC 1085L class. Only 2 major exams that most of your grade is based off of. So study hard and ask questions, you should pass

BEST TEACHER EVER!i took him for micro and A&P1. for micro he sells his own notes in the bookstore, if you come to class everyday & study those notes you will pass! a&p is a tough class no matter who teaches it but he is so helpful & smart! i wish he could teach all my classes forever lol hcc's best kept secret.

Dont be fooled, this class is HARD! Not recommended for summer semesters, way too much. There is a lot to learn and memorize but Whitlock is an awesome teacher who really knows his stuff and is very passionate about teaching it. I would recommend him but don't think you are just going to breeze by and pass cause you will be seriously disappointed

My favorite professor at HCC! His micro lab was pretty easy but his lecture class is pretty hard. He is extremely helpful and patient, especially when you need help in lab. Loved this class! :)

I took him and he is great,explain clearly and available at office hours if needed very helpful. You have to take homes multiple choice and two in class exams, he doesn't give study guides but everything you need is in his notes. Take him he is one of the best science proffesors.

If you're looking for an easy class, look elsewhere. But if you're looking for a good teacher who is very clear and always willing to help, take him!

I had to retake lab for A&P1 with him because I made the horrific mistake of taking it with Manis. I failed the first time and passed with a B with him over the summer. He's a great teacher, very clear about what you need to know and actually explains the material. I would always take him for any science. He makes it make sense.

Great Teacher he knows his stuff, I took this class with no prior science classes such as anatomy and I'm doing better than the kids who have taken anatomy so it can be done! I got an 88% on the midterm and if you study hard and ask questions an A is possible!

Mr. Whitlock is such an Awesome teacher! A&P is a hard class, and requires a lot of study time, but if he sees that you're trying and you put the time into his class, you will get an A for sure. He is very nice, and wants you to succeed. He offers extra credit (Do it) , He is clear and lets you know what to study, Take him!! :) He loves his job.

Professor Whitlock is an amazing teacher! This is not an easy class, I don't think there's a such thing as an easy teacher when it comes to a hard subject but he is super clear and helpful and gaining an A is completely possible. He only gives two exams but you also have 10 extra credit questions on an exam that can go toward your grade! TAKE HIM!

He does 3 exams 3 class assignments and he does the learnsmart. Class isn't mandatory, i mainly went to class before the test for review other than that i would drop by randomly. He is easy if you study the review,and turn in your assignments.

What a great professor. The best I have had!! Don't get me wrong this class is not easy in anyway.I will tell you this STUDY THE POWERPOINT AND YOU WILL DO FINE, BUT UNDERSTAND IT. He really want you to succeed..There was only 2 exams each 30% and a homework 30%, which is a freebie if you complete it. and a quiz 10%. hard class not impossible A

I took his anatomy I lab hybrid class... and I dont recommend it because it doesnt feel like i learned much. He isnt passionate about the material, he just tells you about the labs and thats it, doesnt go over the textbook at all. If youre looking for an easy A or high B but not be able to learn anythin from the teacher, this is your guy/class

Great professor! He is very passionate about what he teaches and being a science major I actually studied the material but I know many others did not and still made an A. He gives amazing reviews and his class is very interesting. I learned a lot of things and would take him again.

Professor Whitlock is great! Microbiology is not an easy course but he gives you all of the information needed to do well. As long as you come to class and dedicate about 12 hours per week to studying his in class slides, you'll be fine. Not a studier? You will fail, but an A is very possible. Highly recommended! Great professor! Lectures are boring, but aren't they all? Study outside of class! Seriously! 2 tests and the first 6 questions wrong an exam he doesn't count it against you. Be sure to go to his office hours if you have any questions! Do not procrastinate! HW is a lot. Stay on top of it. I would take him again. Finished the class with a 92!

This was a hybrid class (met only once a week, the rest was online) Dr. Whitlock is clear about what to study and his lectures are interesting. This is a tough course regardless. If you keep up with the Online and you study - you can do well.

great teacher, made micro less challenging and overwhelming. learn smart quizzes he only take the best one (do the first ones they're easy to get 100, otherwise you'd be stuck with the hard quizzes at the end of the semester.) learnsmart homework 30%, quiz 10%, tests 60%. only two exams if you do well on those you dont have to take final.

Only 4 exams and 1 essay. Not bad at all. The paper is an easy A don't know anybody who got less than an A on it. He doesn't give reviews, most powerpoint are 70-100 slides per chapter and there is about 34 chapters per exam. During the lectures he tells you what to know for the test and the day before the exam he reads information from the test.

I took the hybrid class. It was pretty easy, the final was online which was cool. Mr. Whitlock was a good professor

Professor Whitlock was by far one of my favorite professors this semester. The lectures were long but his labs made up for that. He is always there for you if are having trouble. He is very nice and knows what he is talking about.

Mr. Whitlock is not only a nice guy, but he's very straight forward about the course and what is expected. Definitely study, take great notes and be prepared to work. The learnsmarts are easy if you just sit down and do them, and fortunately count for a huge part of your grade. He also wrote me a letter of recommendation without knowing me well.

He really cares about his students. If you are confused on anything at all he will help you as much as he can. I would for sure take him again!

Attendance is not mandatory but recommended. He's a great professor. The lectures are a bit dry but if you can manage them, the lab makes up for it. He is very passionate about the topics which made it easier to learn. Extra credit was offered on all tests. Focus on the study guides that he gives and take notes during lab and you'll pass.

You can tell he loves to teach and is passionate about what he is teaching about! There isn't any homework or much to "turn in" but he gives a clear syllabus and study sheet that you will answer and follow as you go along in the class. Study and you will pass. He is a sweet guy! One of the better Micro teachers at HCC aside from Bess and Evans. Took the hybrid class and tests come from the online homework (3 attempts ea) and quizes (2 attemps). 2 in-class exams and 1 optional final. Gives reviews for each exam.

Great lectures, this guy really knows his stuff! Up to date with all the latest microbio news (super knowledgeable) and also adds dorky humor to his lectures which makes it easier to pay attention. The layout he has on Campus is simple to navigate. Quizzes/tests are a little tough but you must study, can't just do some notes and get an A.

He really cares about his students and if we're learning. Labs are pretty easy and interesting, Lectures can be a little boring but he gives extra credit. All the quizzes (except the midterm and final) are online and always accessible. Take good notes for lab and lecture for an easy grade.

I had professor Whitlock for Hybrid MCB2000 and it is extremely difficult BUT if you study with your notes and practice tests that he provides then it is possible to pass his class with an A, although I got a B. This is my second time taking MCB before was with a different professor and I earned an F so I am ecstatic with my grade! STUDY FOR TESTS!

He is fantastic. Kind, helpful, informative & cares about his students success. I struggled a bit with my unknown but he was helpful & fair. Tough grader, but still fair. He makes class fun but still informative. All around a great Professor.

Interesting class - I think Dr. Whitlock thoroughly enjoys the content. I took the hybrid option and it was perfect. Was able to get an A only using class notes and homework questions - rented the text but did not use. There are only 3 exams with the hybrid class (including final) -lowest grade dropped. Wish I could have taken him for the lab.

I took BSC 1005 online. It was a shortened course but that didn't mean a ton of work! He is amazing! He was so nice to me whenever I interacted with him and he got back to any of my emails faster than any teacher I have ever had. I was on the cusp of an A and he allowed me to redo some of my past assignments to get to an A. Best. Teacher. Ever.

This class is very lecture-heavy, so be prepared to spend some time watching his online lecture videos. Information from quizzes generally comes from the textbook, with some lecture information. The midterm and final exams (final is w/ProctorU) use questions from previous quizzes. The content is relatively basic, as well.

Yes this class was a lot of reading and things were due weekly but he provided everything you needed to pass. He had "target due dates" but left assignments open until the end of the course to allow students to submit multiple times to achieve the best grades. Very responsive. Very understanding. Great professor.

This class was very well organized between lectures, assignments, quiz, and group activities. Professor Whitlock is caring, always available to clarify anything, and passionate about teaching. I was lucky to pick another great Professor at HCC!

Professor Whitlock is a really good professor, I did not ended up with a that good of a grade but it I truly suck at science. Overall if I would've been better at watching his lecture videos I would have definitely do better in this class.

He is very flexible with the deadlines as long as you turn it in before the end of the semester so that's great. His lectures were really good and he really seems to care about the topics. Some assignments were confusing for me.

Professor Whitlock was amazing this semester (Summer 2022). When I contacted him a few weeks before class and when I was confused about the course content during the class, he answered all of my questions in a professional and courteous manner and even tutored me. Has lectures and quizzes on every chapter/topic and two exams when I took it.

Projects easy credit. Amazing lectures to help with material. 8wk went a little fast, rec 12/16wk. Easy grader on written asgmt. Quizzes are open, exams w/honorlock. Study guide makes for easy A. Quiz ?s on exams! 2atmps=all work including 3 exams. Lowest quiz/6 & lowest exam/3 dropped. Can opt out of final if happy w/1st 2 exams. EASY A+

If you are a procrastinator and know you wont watch his videos, I don't recommend taking him. He outlined suggested start dates in his syllabus, gives untimed quizzes that you can retry on, and drops your lowest exam score if you take the optional final. The questions on the exams are from the quizzes, STUDY THOSE. Overall he was a great teacher.

very cool teacher!! took him online but was very kind and isn't that much of a tough grader u just need to make an effort and you're fine! all honor-lock exams drops the lowest grade but final is optional all that matters is to REVIEW the quizzes following up to the exams as they're based on them so study them.

Professor Whitlock's class has a well-structured syllabus with flexible retakes on quizzes. Engaging lectures, but long video recordings. Unstuck AI helped me prepare effectively for exams.

I had this professor for BSC-2011 ( didnt give me a option to select). Gives 3 exams and the final is optional, exams make up 60% of your grade. He gives out objectives for each section which directly resemble the exam question topics. Term project gives you a lot of creative freedom and is worth 20% of your grade. Highly recommend this professor!

He was a good professor, lectures was heavy but the class was short. He drops the lowest exam, I got a B because I did bad on the first exam. Usually the questions were based off quizzes. HONORLOCK FOR EXAMS. short class but HONORLOCK!

He was a good professor everything was pretty straightforward, however there was not much material to reference. There is a project due at the end that you have a lot of freedom on, but he does grade it kind of tough. It is definitely do-able to get an A if you do the quizzes and review, he gives.

Oh. My. God. I was in a very busy time in my life, forgot a final exam. I was maximum stressed. He just dropped it. Could not recommend higher simply for that moment. Honorlock SUCKS though.

Professor Whitlock is probably the best professor I've had. Attendance isn't mandatory, but the exams/quizzes are pulled from what he lectures about, so show up. He provides study guides for the exams and they correlate almost perfectly. The quizzes are easy and there isn't homework. Literally just show up to lecture, take notes, and study them.
