Mr. Wilhelm is one of those teachers who is more than just a good mathematician; he knows how to teach it. He works out a lot of examples on the board and makes it easy to take good notes. He reviews ritually and tells what students will be tested on.A+
Did a good job of getting at the basic concepts. Tests were straight forward and pretty simple. No tricks here.
Great professor. No tricks on his tests. Very helpful. Good sense of humor.
Great math teacher! Explains things very well
He teaches the material very well, but when it comes to tests I just can't seem to make the A. Overall an easy teacher, I recommend taking him for this particular class
HE IS THE BEST I TOOK HIM FOR ALL OF MY MATHS AND LOVED HIM. HE KNOWS WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT, AND EXPLAINS VERY WELL. HE WON'T GO ON TILL EVERYONE IN THE CLASS UNDERSTAND IT. HE IS JUST THE BEST I LOVED HIM. HE IS A VERY GOOD ADDITION TO THIS COLLEGE.
Seems boring at First but when you get to know him, you have a lot more fun in his class. He Knows his stuff!
Fantastic! Great at explaining complicated material in a simple way. Vary impressed!
Had him for College Algebra and Applied Calculus, and I have to say he is my favorite math teacher of all time. He is very thorough, and if you like that kind of teacher, take him. If you like just the shortcut way.. then don't. But he explains why you take certain steps. He's awesome.
pretty good prof. If you are a good test taker this is the perfect class for you
Absolutely the best math professor I have ever had. He explains everything in detail and will explain things until you understand. If you do the homework and pay attention in class, there is no reason you should not get an A but most importantly, understand the material. I would recommend 100%!
he knows his math, not too much homework, but take it only if you like all tests for grades, and no interaction. no chance for extra credit. i would only take him if you had too. check into professors that give a little "ley way".Easy in a hard way i guess you could say.
The best math teacher I have ever had.
HE'S AN EASY PROFESSOR BUT THE CLASS DEMANDS A LOT OF LEARNING, IF YOU DO THE HW AND LEARN THE FORMULAS YOU'LL BE GOOD TO GO.
Explains everything in detail...Made DE fun! (If that's possible) Has a really weird sense of humor, but makes DE understandable. Wouldn't take anyone else. Friendly teacher and fair grader.
Good Teacher.... He's a good teacher to take if you want to learn the materal. You have 4 tests, no extra credit, and you don't get credit for homework.
It seems most of the ratings are positive so I will assume he knew his stuff, he certainly seemed to for the first five minutes of every class, but that was as long as i managed to stay awake. Remember that show the wonder years? This teacher learned from the teacher in that show. Passed though, learned from the book.
Can't remember the course number for Diff Eq. Great teacher. You have to get used to his lecture style. His jokes and anecdotes are a little corny, but nonetheless very amusing. It was nice when he's stop class to tell us something like that. And the check and x system was great. :D Very thorough in his explanations.
Really a great teacher. Chances are if you are taking Calc 2, you are dedicated in math and shouldn't have a ton of trouble. Of course there is a lot to learn, but that's in any Calc 2 class. On tests, he gives a freebie question that replaces your lowest score on another problem, which is nice. As a nerd, I find his humor quite amusing.
Amazing teacher. He has a great sense of humor. He makes the silliest mistakes and entertains the class. He is also very helpful and clearly explains the subjects. I wouldn't take anybody else. His tests are also easy and as long as you listen in class you shouldn't have a problem passing.
This class was kind of hard. You should go everyday because sometimes he doesn't do the problems the same way as the book. He only does 2 or maybe 3 (if your lucky) examples on a topic so that can sometimes make things a little harder. His tests are 10 questions long so you have to getall of them right!
Calc. is a bad summer class to take, we had a test every week for 3 weeks in a row, including the final... he is very easy to understand, teaches at a fast pace, and teaches the most when the class has questions, if no questions then he goes straight to the next lesson... ask questions, read ahead
Very good professor. I learned a lot from him. He's very entertaining with his witty quirky jokes, but he still is always on topic. As for tests, as long as you know what you're doing, you'll get an A on every single one. Each test is pick 10 out of 11 with the 11th being literally extra credit. Wish he taught Calc 3
Great trig teacher, he does everything that he can to make u understand if you have a question! and he is also funny.. :)
If you are thinking of taking Trig just for fun, or for some credits...DONT DO IT! The homework is a MUST in this class if you want to follow what you are doing, you must put time in! NO extra credit, so it's very important that you pay attention to every detail on the test. He is really nice, will only test on what is covered, and goes over all HW.
Doesn;t follow the book for Pre-Calc. Hard to understand and follow
I can honestly say he is the best math teacher. He is extremely nice and funny. Make sure you do all the assigned homework and you will easily get an A.
Great math teacher. Clearly explains things and is very helpful.
The best for Trig!!! Test come straight from assigned home work and he tells you what areas to concentrate on for tests. If you can't pull an A in this class you either didn't try, or you need a new major.
Great math teacher, easy to understand in class, and is always willing to answer questions. Homework is not graded (which was great for me) but if your not great in math just do the hw, and you'll do fine on the tests. Whether you like, or dislike, math you must take him.
I actually had him for two different prep math classes. He is witty but quiet and mild mannered... reminds me of a thinner version of Christopher Reeves' Superman. Freaky smart. Loved the way he color coded math steps on the board. You will not be disappointed if you take his class.
Taking him now for the blended trig/pre calc 5 credit class. Class moves pretty quick covering two sections a class period but he is an excellent teacher. Really understands, has a passion for math so he will help you to understand the concepts any way he can. Trig has a lot of memorization, be prepared to have to do all the homework. Great teacher!
Prof. Wilhelm is awesome, he is very clear on what will be tested and goes over it as much as the class wants but if you don't ask questions he'll just move along. So make sure you do the homework ahead of time, and come to class, and you'll do fine
Professor Wilhelm is an excellent teacher. Teaches the subject to a tee! He has a sense of humor which eased the class. If you cell phone goes off in class expect him to rate the ring :) He teaches only what is on his tests, work for an A and you shall succeed.
HANDS DOWN the BEST MATH Professor in the world!! 3 tests and the class before he gives you problems that are close if not exact to the ones on the test. I've taken him for Trig, Calc 2 & 3, and DE. Even though he is the spitting Image of a Nerd he is also very funny!! TAKE HIM!!
So freaken cool. Extremely well versed and mannered. Really knows how to connect with students, excelleny proff. Only prob, not teaching calc III next semester.
Prof. Wilhelm is great. He does not collect homework, but if you do the homework you will do well in his class. He teaches a bunch of neat tricks to making problems easier, and explains things clearly. His tests are not bad so long as you do the review that he gives you the class before the test, and if you just take your time and don't rush.
Excellent professor. Also took for MAC1147. I cannot stress enough how clear and straightforward he is in demonstrations and teaching style (even uses different-colored markers for different parts of a problem). Also has a good sense of humor.
This teacher knows his stuff, but he is not very good at teaching math in my eyes due to that when you ask a question he makes you seem like your an idiot if you dont understand what he is saying. also his problems he tells you to study are nothing like the test questions he gives. Hes nice but not a effective teacher.he wont help you outside ofcls
Good professor, if you do the hw you will get a good grade. His tests aren't very hard if you study at all.
Best math teacher I've ever had. Do the homework and do the problems he gives related to the test. I got a C in Calc. 1 five years ago and got an A with him with no refresher. I wish I could take him for more classes.
Prof. Wilhelm is a great teacher. Easy to follow, patient, great at explaining. I haven't taken a math class in over 8 years, and I am able to follow along fine. A stronger math background probably would be helpingme, but studying seems to be paying off so far.
Awesome teacher, very clear, concise and of course INTUITIVE! Teaches with a manner of steady, certainity that will make clear any ambiguities the students may have prior to the class. Intelligently sarcastic and quite humorous. Overall two and half thumbs up!
I had him for Calc II. Great professor. If you are looking for a professor who follows the syllabus perfectly and runs the course in a college level way (no attendance policy, tests only) then take him. Calc II isn't the easiest class in the world, but he explains things well. Tests are straightforward and come from the optional homework.
He is an amazing teacher! Math is not even close to my favorite subject, but I finished this class with an A. He is extremely helpful and takes complicated things and breaks them down so you can understand them. Tests are very easy if you pay attention during lectures and do the homework. I recommend him 100%
Amazing math classes. period. I've taken him for MAC1105, MAC2312, and DE. Extremely fair tests, identical to homework problems. Very consistent with notations and directions. Always comes to class prepared with lecture notes and writing utensils. In the mix of his well-structured course, he manages to break the monotony with his witty jokes.
amazing teacher..he is seriously the best math teacher ever..
He was great. You leave class with a fundamental understanding of the material. Do some practice problems and you'll have an A. He explains this very well and breaks everything down. He goes out of his way to make sure everyone understands. I wish I could have had him for Calc 2. After having him other teachers look so much worse!
You have 4 exams and 1 optional final. To pass do the hw and practice tests at the info commons. Hes always prepared and willing to help you. My only complaint is that he's very slow responding to emails. He uses a cheap old textbook and it works well. He's very smart and breaks the material down well.
He is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He is able to explain his examples and answer questions thoroughly while going fast enough to teach a lot of material. He gives out a set of questions that are the same or very similar to exam questions so if you go to class and learn those 30-50 problems(many of which are similar) its an easy A
I've taken him for trig and calc. Great teacher. Test come from homework examples and he gives test reviews. HW assigned, not graded. 5 chpt tests and optional final. Do the work and you'll get an A. Highly Recommend taking his classes.
Took him for Trigonometry. Biggest mistake I had ever made. He is not helpful, also if you ask a question he makes you feel like a complete idiot. His tests are hard granted he does provide the ones from the semester before which always seem to get harder compared to the semester before. He also takes off crazy amount of points for wrong signs +/-.
One of the best professors I have ever had. Calculus 2 is a very difficult and demanding course and he made it easy. Would reccomend
Best math teacher I've ever had! He breaks everything down in an easy to understand way. I want to take him for all of my future math classes. If you can, TAKE THIS TEACHER!
Greatest math teacher EVER! This guy needs to start his own Kahn Academy. He explains comlicated topics in a manner that anyone can understand. There is no doubt he is the best math Professor at SPC. I will take him for my advanced Calc classes too.
His class is very hard. Going to him for help is not very useful. I would not recommend him to my worst enemy. His grade is all based on tests, he takes major points off for the littlest things, just overall it was really discouraging. I have a 3.8 GPA and never struggled in Math until I took him for Calc 2. Try Clearwater Campus for Calc 2!
He's a very interesting person aka not boring. He's too pedantic (a good thing..maybe). He'll answer questions thoroughly, grades are test-based only, compared to a major university level he's much easier. Received a B by doing most of the HW, attending every class, studying a day b4 tests, while working full-time & haven't had courses in 4+ years.
Awesome Professor. Best Math Teacher I have had yet. Loves what he does. Reminds me of a math bill nye the science guy. Explains everything very well and breaks it down so it's easy to understand. Keep up with the work and do the homework. Prepares you well for the test.
i took him for trig and he is by far the best math teacher i have ever had. he answers every question down to the last deatil, same with his lectures; everything is explain in such detail that people rarely have to ask questions. he is also kind of funny in really lame ways, but he keeps your attention.
I agree with the other posts when they say he is a good teacher. Yes, he's a wonderful professor. But here's the catch, be ready for math to be shoved down your throat. Easy A? No. Good class to take if you love math and will need further math courses? Absolutely.
Too easy, uses nothing original, but the book. Doesn't use toward any practical problems, just pure math. Everyone seems to like him because he is easy, but fails to realize that when they get out in the working world their going to get walked all over because they had it too easy. Pure garbage; look else where for a teacher that has passion!
Mr. Wilhelm is a trip to have for a teacher. Always full of light hearted humor and witty stories and jokes. He obviously is extremely knowledgeable in the math field. A good teacher to have for math :)
Had him for Trig a couple of years ago and then for Calc II a year ago. I remember him as the best professor I've had in college. Extremely intelligent, very organized, communicates the material very well, great jokes, clear expectations. You will not regret taking him.
Outstanding teacher. Very well organized and sets very clear expectations. Don't expect an easy A, but if you work hard you should be able to earn a good grade. Respect the his rules in the classroom. If you don't understand something, raise your hand and ask. Do the homework, make sure you understand it, and you should do well on the tests.
Prof. Wilhelm was an excellent teacher. At the beginning of class he does a quick review of what he went over in the previous class to refresh your memory. He explains every step so clear that students rarely had to ask questions. 4 tests and a an optional final to replace a test grade. Definitely recommend
This teacher is about as interesting as a math teacher can get. He teaches from the students' point of view, which is really nice. He lets you view his tests from last semester online, so you can see exactly how he does the problems that you're going to do.
He is probably the best math teacher I have ever had. I took him for summer session and he made learning math easy. He is the type of professor that would make you want to take another math class. You do have to study for your tests but he lets you view previous test from other semesters to help you.
Hands down the best Professor SPC has to offer. Professor Wilhelm goes over homework at the beginning of class. In some cases as long as an HOUR. He breaks the problems down in a very simplistic form and very slowly, step by step. Sense of humor to boot with a joke or two. However, you MUST study and put work into this class with effort to pass.
Professor Wilhelm is a math tutor that is in touch with his human side. He understands the complex differentiation and integration of vector fields taught in Calc 3, but also can understand and gives credit for human error and mistakes made in tests. As long as you complete the homework he assigns you will ace the tests and learn a lot.
I took Calc1 with this professor, I never opened the book, never did HW, studied the day b4 tests. 5 tests, Hw not graded, no quizzes, OPTIONAL FINAL. I recommend doing the HW bc it will help you. He is willing to go over all HW questions, even if it takes him half of the class. Passed the class with an A )
Mr. Wilhelm is a really great teacher who is able to make complex mathematical concepts understandable for students. Lectures are clear and he's available during office hours for any additional assistance. Very reasonable with partial credit on tests. Do not expect an easy A, but if you're willing to work for it you should do very well.
Professor Wilhelm is possibly the best math teacher I've had at SPC. Took him for trigonometry and he explained the material in a way that was easy to understand. Also loved his dry humor. Four tests with 10 questions each. Sample tests from previous semesters posted online. Final is not mandatory if you are fine with your grade after 4 tests.
This professor is by far the best math teacher I have taken. He explains problems in such a clear way that he made Calc 2 much easier than expected. His teaching style is so thorough that you wont be at home trying to teach yourself. 4 tests an optional final. Do the homework, study, and an A is very attainable.
Had him for Calc 2 and 3. I highly recommend.
Took for calc 2 and 3. Covers problems in great detail. Tells you ahead of time what kind of problems will be on the test. The only grades are tests, just like college should be. Makes the subject seem easy and understandable. You never have to struggle at home and teach yourself like you do with the clearwater campus math teachers. Great teacher!
Great teacher. Explains concepts clearly and is extremely fair with exams and grading.
Great and easy Professor for Calc 2. Gives 4 tests and an optional final. Gives you a freebee question on every exam, giving you some room for error and still able to get a 100%. Do majority of the homework and do ALL of the test review questions, and you get an EASY B. If you study, an A is also pretty easily obtainable.
Overall, pretty awesome teacher. Sometimes the way he explains stuff is kind of confusing but if you pay attention and ask any questions you have, you should be fine. He assigns a lot of homework but none of it is for a grade so I just make sure I understand what we're learning. Plus, he spends half of each class going over homework problems.
Probably one of the best profs I've had. He patiently teaches on the whiteboard and describes everything in a clear and intuitive manners, so even if you don't learn by memorization you'll understand through common sense. Homework is optional, but highly recommended. Tests are based on homework and graded fairly. I'm def taking him for Calc 3
Had professor for College Alg. , pre Calc, Calc 2 & Calc 3. Graded on tests only, but he is a picky grader. Lectures are easy to understand, he gets the point across easiest way possible. Homework is optional but is necessary for studying. Respected professor with a good sense of humor and stories.
Great professor! Pretty funny, has a lot of math stories that are hilarious. He grades on your work, so if you make a small mistake it's not the end of the world. Makes material easy to understand manner. Make sure you watch how you write things, he can be very picky at times. Show up to lectures, take notes, do homework, and you'll pass.
Very clear grading criteria. There's 5 tests and an optional final if you're happy with your grade. 10 points of extra credit on every test. He explains things in a very clear manner and will explain every step in order to insure everyone is on the same page. Will definitely take him for calc 2.
He is one pf the best math teachers he goes over the material in an easy way and reapya it if you do not understand
Took for Calc 2 and Calc 3. Absolutely amazing professor with the best teaching style I have ever seen. He really knows how to teach difficult concepts in a way that students will understand. Strong math students can get by with doing little to no homework and just doing his review before each test. By Calc 3 I did zero homework and got a strong A
The reason why I said lots of homework because the homework really helps. Although it is not taken for a grade, I highly recommend doing it (unless you are magically a mathematician). He makes all the sense in the world during his lectures and explains things step by step. His humor is dry and do not go on your phone! He calls people out.
He's waaaaay too slow for me. He will take forever to explain the easiest subject. Like at the level of Calculus III, we do not need to spend 25 minutes adding a fraction. He is way too slow, a bit boring while he's teaching, barely gives you a break in a long class, and his test are difficult. If you want a slow professor who's thorough, perfect.
Lots of homework. No grade for homework but it helps. HW from the textbook. You have to have MyMathLab but the only thing used are the reviews. Tests are just like the reviews. No formulas for tests, no extra credit. 4 reviews worth 1 test grade and 4 tests, optional final. Use the tutoring center unless you're a math whiz!
he is very good and straight forward, the garde is out of 4 exams and the final is optional, lots of homework for practice only its not graded.
Dont pick him if you are not a good test taker. The only grades he has for you are 4 chapter tests. He gives so much homework but never checks it, although it does benefit you to do some problems at least becuase he picks homework problems for the tests. He gives you last years tests to get an idea of how your test will be. Good teacher!!
Explains topics very clearly. You don't submit homework for a grade however, he will review homework if you ask and he'll make sure you understand. He gives test reviews - everything on there will be on the test! Study with the review! He is also very clear with dates and will tell you test dates 2 or 3 weeks in advance.
Math is not a strong subject for me, but professor Wilhelm is very understanding, and works to make sure you understand the material. The best part of his class is HOMEWORK IS NOT GRADED. If you work on your own to the best of your ability he will be there to carry you the rest of the way.
Final grade is based on 5 tests + an optional exam, which is great for good test-takers. our test avgs were kinda low, 70%. wilhelm really knows his stuff though, and his lectures are in-depth + kinda slow because of it. take advantage of office hours! he's really here to help! he interludes lectures w/ amusing stories + gives a midclass break too
NEVER TAKE THIS PROFESSOR, I'm a straight A student and this is one of my hardest classes because I am teaching MYSELF trig. In lectures he will literally not know how to do problems and "will get back to it later", and speeds through sections and expects us to know how to do things. He barely goes over homework even if we have questions still.
Class is always go over hw questions, break partway, learn new material. Lectures are a good pace and you have so many opportunities to ask questions; very easy to learn from. He assigns optional hw, which I rarely did but very helpful. The only grades are tests but he grades best 10/11 questions, and final can replace lowest test grade. Great prof
In his Trigonometry class, he goes over each problem until everyone understands. He is a realistic professor that makes the same mistakes students are bound to make, then explains how to fix them. Only tests and reviews are graded, which may be a struggle to some, but for me, I would rather be graded on tests rather than homework.
Great teacher for people who understand math. The only grades are reviews and tests which may be hard for some people if they aren't good test takers. I personally really liked his teacher style. Make sure you come to class or you'll get behind.
Prof Wilhelm is an amazing math teacher. Made the material easy to understand and was very helpful if anyone was confused. The only grades were the four reviews and the four tests (the final is optional). He posts previous reviews and tests with answers so they're not hard at all. I would really recommend him for Trig.
Im honestly surprised this professor has such high ratings. He lacks compassion for his students and does not seem like he genuinely cares about his students grasping the concepts. He fails to explain how he does each math step. The class is four test and four reviews. Tests are taken in class and are not multiple choice. I wish he cared more.
The hardest class I've ever took. He doesn't care if you are struggling and provides no extra credit. don't take him if you aren't good at math or tests. I had to get a tutor outside of him to help assist me and I still barely passed.
There are 8 grades that he has through his class, 4 of them being test review which are basically worth nothing then the other 4 being test that will destroy your grade if you get a C or below. His lectures are very bland containing just him solving a problem, he gives homework however it is not mandatory.
Very kind professor and it's very easy to understand what is rxpected of you. Little studying nrcessary because he is very thorough and teaches well.
