He has been a great teacher for me. He is very helpful and he is easy on his gradings. the hw and quizzes online are easy extra points for your final grade. He was awsome

John is awesome! He's new, but if you can take him you deff. should! Prob n Stats sucks, but John tries his best to help you. If you go to class everyday you get 50pts extra at the end of the semester!! He'll tell jokes to lighten the mood! He really cares about the students! TAKE HIM!!

Very good teacher. He is very willing to help you out if you don't happen to understand something. He doesn't care to go over any problems you might've had trouble on. If you go to class you'll know exactly what's going on. Very good teacher.

John is an awesome teacher. I got a D+ when I took this class 5 years ago. I retook it with John and got almost a 100 average in the class. He really works hard to make sure you understand everything. Definately the teacher to have when taking Prob/Stats!

He was a pretty decent teacher. He wouldve helped alot outside of class but I couldnt find his office. Tests are generally pretty straight forward. Notes are necessary and you wont get the right information from the book. DONT BUY IT.

He is a very friendly and helpful teacher. I would recommend him to anyone needing to get that 1530 class out of the way. (And it certainly doesn't hurt that he's easy on the eyes)

He is an awesome teacher and made statistics a really fun class! He used good stories and humor to make the concepts easy to understand and really wanted to see his students learn. The homework is a little challenging; but he's more that willing to help out. Since this class is mandatory at ETSU, I recommend taking him.

By far one of the best teachers i've ever had! he is extremely helpful, and he doesn't lie to you. He gives lots of extra credit, and lots of bonus points. If you can really try and get in his class! He gives you 50pts just for showing up everyday. Really nice guy, and pretty easy on the eyes too!

The most coherent math instructor I've ever had. Very approachable and always willing to answer questions during or after class. Since most students will have to take Prob & Stats, I would say Hicks is a good choice (having accidentally sat in on the wrong section of the course one day).

Mr. Hicks is great. Best stat professor on campus. He will go out of his way to make sure you understand. If you fail, it's just because you didn't do anything. He gives extra credit, and he always makes sure you understand! TAKE HIM!

He is a great guy, Math is a hard subject and so i would say he is the best choice. He teaches really fast and sometimes its hard to understand, but he allows group homework and is willing to help you. He accepts late papers which could be a help sometimes. just go to class attend group studies and you will pass.

I took this as my last class of my college career. I had not taken a math class in 8 years and was nervous. He makes everything very clear and is always available to answer any questions you might have. It would be in your best interest to take him, trust me.

It is incredibly hard to fail prob/stats if you show up to class (getting the attendance bonus) and have him as a professor. He often tries to fit in review dates, wont bore you to tears, and tries in every way, outside of giving you a grade, to help you make an A. I would suggest only taking prob/stats if you can get in his class.

Most helpful teacher I've had yet! Explains everything so clearly and helps with anything needed at all. Gives handouts and little quizzes that help so much and he pretty much gives the answers for them. I would def take him again.

took this over the summer and was really dreading it bc I had heard this was one of the most failed classes at ETSU. This class was soo easy with Mr. HickS! He will take time to help you however he can! Awesome professor and I would DEF take him again!! Quizzes and HW aren't bad, & as long as you study for the test u will be fine! GREAT TEACHER!

Mr Hicks makes the learning interesting, so that you dont get bored. Thank goodness cause I really was dreading this class. I would recomend this teacher over any other for sure !!!!

This man is everything you could ever ask for in a math teacher. I hate math and I loved this class. The homework is easy and the tests arent't that bad. I skipped class one day and forgot I had a test and he let me make it up without an excuse! I smoked a cig with the man everyday and he is the coolest dude. He really cares about stats. TAKE HIM!

I hate math but Mr. Hicks made it easy. He gives study guides for his tests which are all multiple choice. The study guide is about exactly the same as the study guide. I will take the department final this week but up to this point I have an A.

Mr. Hicks is passionate about his job, and loves to teach what he does. He has a good personality, and isn't socially awkward like some professors. Although I'm probably gonna fail this course, Hicks really is a good instructor, and if you're going to take stats at ETSU, take him. It'll be your best bet.

I entered this class freaking out because of the 75% fail rate. Mr. Hicks explains things so well, I left with an A+. Do yourself a favor and only take Mr. Hicks. He explains stats to where you can easily understand it. He gives lots of extra credit. He is a knowledgeable and fun teacher.

Hicks is a great teacher! He is very helpful. The class isn't hard as long as you show up and do the homework and quizzes. He gives quite a bit extra credit and study guides for his tests. The final was pretty tough but it is made by the department. Def take Hicks if you can!

I took the winter session and it was the best thing I've ever decided to do! I am terrible at math but the statsportal we were required to download was helpful and his notes on D2l as well. I emailed and annoyed him with questions but each time he was nice and helpful! I would recommend his class to the fullest, expecially if your not good at math!

He was a great teacher. You can turn in assignments late and he will accept them. You also get 5 points added to your overall grade if you attend every day.

I skipped a couple classes in a row and it really messed me up, but before I was doing great. I still did good, just could've done better. He was a great professor. He knows his stuff and he is pretty good at explaining. You have a homework and a quiz every week and you have like 4 or 5 tests and a big project at the end of the semester.

This is the greatest teacher imaginable. He is always happy to help with any questions you might have, and the homework assignments are fairly easy. His class works on cumulative points, so there are many opportunities for you to bring your grade up. His D2L page is full of information to help you. Don't skip class - ever!

Professor Hicks is so wonderful! As long as you go to class and write down the notes he puts on the board, you will do well in the class. You do one homework and one quiz (take home) each week. He is the best math teacher I've EVER had. You can't skip class, but he makes classes enjoyable. You will get an A if you go to class and do assignments.

Dr. Hicks was AMAZING!! I passed his Prob and Stats class, when I have never passed a math course. ever. He was so kind and easy to understand. If you show up to class and participate, you'll most likely pass his class. Not to mention he isn't bad to look at

Homework assignments aren't long, and you have more than a week to complete them. Lecture is very important because he covers everything you need to know. Requires quizzes, only one a chapter with 3 attempts, and learning curve assignments for every chapter, aren't due until the end of the semester. Tests are moderate, but does give extra credit.

I love Hicks! He is one of the best professors I have had. Ever. He takes his time going over the material and will stop to make sure everyone understands. He will stay after class to help anyone who needs help. And there is so much extra credit. You would actually have to try to fail. I would definitely recommend!

Mr. Hicks is the kind of instructor who needs to teach this course, specifically. He understands that not just math and science majors take prob and stats, so his main goal is to not trick you, but to really teach the material. If you are decently math-minded, you won't have to work hard whatsoever. For those not math minded, he holds your hand.

Let me start by saying I have always HATED math. So I worried about having to take college level math. He made it super easy to learn. He is BY FAR my favorite teacher at ETSU so far. He "dumbed" the concepts down enough that i understood, and accommodated a special circumstance with no problems. You have a good bit of homework and quizzes.

I would highly recommend Hicks for probs and stats. He's very caring and if you need help, he'll give you advice and show you how to do the problems. Online quizzes are easy and homework assignments are informative but not too challenging.

Hicks is great! I never thought I would get an A in a math class, but he makes it easy. He breaks it down so it's easy to understand. And if not, you can catch him before class or go to the CFAA in the library. If you need to take stats, take Hicks.

I had Hicks online but I recommend him in any setting. He responded to emails instantly and was understanding but turning things in late and let you do so. Stats in general is a harder class but he really did go above and beyond to help, which is the type of professor everyone should take.

Johnathan is one of those professors who makes you question what major you are in. He makes class fun, he's very flexible and unbelievably caring. Take any class you can with Johnathan. He's great and understands his students well. As for the course, we had lecture one day, reading for one day, and a real world application the last day. Easy class

Probs/stats is not fun but Hicks is a great teacher. He really cares about helping student's pass. Show up to class, take notes, do your homework, and ask questions if you don't understand. Not an easy class, but Hicks is definitely who you want to have for this class.

Professor Hicks is phenomenal! I absolutely cannot math and he was hands down the reason that I passed. He was so very helpful and kind. He will go out of his way to help his students who struggle. I was so excited that I passed his class that I gave him a hug when I got my final grade! He is easy on the eyes as well, so the hug was a perk!

I had him for Prob and Stats Calculus and it really was not as bad as I thought it would be. He was really good at explaining the material. He made sure everyone understood what was going on and was super helpful when you would ask him questions. I would recommend him for any statistics class. He isn't very good at algebra though.

Mr. Hicks is an awesome teacher. He will give a lot of work and it really helped me understand the material. Homework that he assigns is heavy but if you ask for help on questions he will work them out in class. He is very fair in grading and difficulty of the problems on tests.

Professor Hicks is most likely my favorite college professor of all time. Math has never been my strong suit, but in his class, I felt brilliant. Hicks is a considerate and genuinely helpful instructor who actually wants his students to pass. If you have any questions, he will try various methods of explanation until you fully understand the topic.

If you are not a math person, make sure you take his class! He knows that everyone is required to take this class so he tries to make it as pain-free as possible. There is ton of extra credit available!

Math has never been my best subject and prob/stats was the most difficult class I've taken thus far but there are opportunities for extra credit so take them! I never understood what was going on during class so I visited him during his office hours frequently. He's definitely more helpful 1-on-1!

Dr. Hicks is one of the best professors at ETSU. He will ensure you know the material and will help on any homework questions you may have. It's math, but he does his best to keep the lectures interesting and keep your attention. Lots of extra credit available. He is a must take for anyone taking stats!

This class was really good. The textbook was online; we only used it occasionally in class for exercises. There are many take home quizzes that arent too bad, and a few homeworks that cover the material on the quizzes. If you have any questions about any of the problems on any homework or quiz, he will help you, and he is a very helpful teacher!!

Great teacher! I recommend him highly if you want to for sure have a good grade in prob and stats. He makes it almost impossible to fail with all the extra credit and easy grades.

Mr. Hicks is probably the best math teacher Ive had at any level of schooling. Just a few great things about him are as follows... He posts a full free pdf version of the textbook on the class website, does a great job explaining and answering questions, and is very willing to help outside of class. If hes an option for your class, take him!

Professor Hicks makes a hard class less stressful with his laid-back teaching style. It can be confusing at times but he is more than helpful if you reach out to him after class or over email. He makes everyone feel welcome and encourages questions. Great teacher for a hard class!

This was an online synchronous class, Material was tough but Prof Hicks seems to care about his students and truly wants them to understand. He is very accessible; There were a couple of extra credit opportunities. I highly recommend Prof Hicks

He has a great sense of humor, great at explaining problems. Textbook wasn't really needed but the access code will work.

Made things as interesting as he could. Took notes and uploaded all notes + recording of each class in case you missed. If you can't come in you can join via zoom which was really nice. Had a lot of leniency if you forgot to do a homework or quiz, just ask him to reopen it in a timely manner. Frequently reminded you of the strict deadlines. 10/10

Gave thorough lectures and walked through practice problems during class + he posts each lecture's notes online after class. He cares about his students and is accessible outside of class if you need help. Grades consists of weekly homework assignments online, extra credit, and a capstone project, but it's not too bad if you do the work on time
