She uses the book for homework but does not use it during class. If you have a hard time with math, you might want to get a different professor, especially if you plan on going to the math lab because she doesn't teach like the book teaches (her way is MUCH easier). I wish she taught Intermediate Algebra. If you miss a class, you will get behind!
Jo is a good teacher.Do the homework and you'll do fine. Algebra isn't easy, sometimes it takes you a few times to understand. She makes herself available for help/tutoring more then anyone i ever seen.
Jolene explains things very good and goes out of her way to make sure you know what you are doing. She's doing great for her first year of teaching.
Mrs. Stewart was my first math teacher that taught me the easiest approaches to problems, without her I don't think I would have passed the class. She knows how to teach!!!!
Jo is an excellent instructor. I had such a fear of dealing with math again after so many years. But she makes it so easy to understand, and gives you reasons for everything you do. Great Job!
mrs. joe is the greatest, she makes her class worth coming to...
jo is great, she knows her stuff, which makes it easy for us as students to learn. not an easy a but if you do your work you wont have any problems. sign up quick cause her seats fill up quick!!!
Jo is a great math teacher. She knows what she is doing thats for sure! Buy the book, and do your homework and PAY ATTENTION. Jo gives easy approaches to help you do problems. Math is scary...but with Jo she makes it that much easier!
she is the best math teacher i ever had..other students in other math classes were doing bad and wanted her help...sign up for her asap!!!
This instructors first year played strictly by the book!No extra credit! Ask her for help, she will tell you to ask your team members in class to help you. What is she getting paid for if she can't help you, herself? I failed her class and I tried extremely hard. I am older and never had algebra before plus I hate math.
Jo is a great math teacher. I was worried about taking another math class, but Jo made it seem so easy, and it was after she explained it. Take Her, shes fun, and smart at math
Must have a good attention span with her. Work in groups every day. Be prepared to feel as if you were in kindergarten again. Overall she is a good teacher.
Great teacher!!! Do the work & you'll get the grade. Must be in class !! Helpful made math fun again!! Very clear on what to do work in groups on quizzes & daily. Do the homework & study guides for the tests!!!
Excellent teacher, explains math in great detail. Tests are very fair and resemble study guides. Do your homework and pay attention in class and you will get an A.
Shes a amazing teacher and shes not bad to look at all very fun and easy class
great teacher, always there to help, makes algebra easy. strict on attendance and homework
excellent teacher!!!! very helpful and knowledgable. pay attention in class and take notes, she dosent use the book, but the way she teaches the info makes it very easy to understand. cant forget to mention that she is easy on the eyes!! i highly recommend this teacher for any math class that she may teach!!!
Never really understood math before this class and had high math anxiety! She teaches it in an easy and clear fashion!
Jo is a GREAT teacher. I hate math and am not good at it. But the way she teaches makes you understand. She doesnt try to confuse you like other professors might do. She has her own special way of teaching. TAKE HER!!!
Best Math Teacher EVER! She's very good at going over the material and ensuring "ALL" her students understand. Explains material clearly.
Absolutely the best math teacher i have ever had. If i had not taken her class i would have done horrible in all higher math classes. She makes everything very easy to understand and is very helpful. There was a lot of homework but if you do it you will get a good grade in the class. She's a great teacher.
I liked Mrs Jo class and im taking math 110 in the fall.D.Weaver
She is great, and clear.
nice but quite
Takes things slow...very clear and helpful =)Great Class!
Great Instructor, goes over everything with you, and will meet you anytime during her office hours to go over anything you don't understand. Get 2 notebooks for this class, gives lots of homework, make sure to do it, and take all the notes, and study so you know your tests. I got a 4.0 in her 110 Class.
If you need help don't ask her, she won't help!! The students are in the class to learn too not try to help everyone else, that is supposed to be the teachers job. She picks groups by the draw of a deck of cards, so don't expect that everyone in your group isn't just like you needing help too.
once she explain in class she not do it again u sit in groups to help each other. ms. jo is thorough in her teaching and you can go to her office for help anytime, all in all shes good
Ms Jo is an awesome instructor, don't pay attention to people who give bad ratings. She teaches you step by step what you need to know. If you don't understand just ask her in class or go to her office during her office hours. She is the best math instructor I have ever had. Just take good notes and DO YOUR HOMEWORK! I got a 4.0 in 110 and 120.
Just to make it clear I HATE Math, but Jo made it very easy for me to learn. If you do your homework you will pass
Easy to understand with plenty of notes to reference. Could not have asked for a better math teacher. would recomend her to everyone.
She is a great instructor and is very good at making sure everyone understands what is being taught.
I like that she is young, and has different teaching methods....but dont like how I am in a group with people who dont seem to get the math which slows me down from my learning the new stuff. She should put us in groups of people close to the same level of learning. other than that no real complaints
teaches good takes no crap
she is awesome, HATED MATH before this class and she has made it bearable, thanks joe.
Joe is my Miracle!!I never understood math until Joe. She's very nice until you break her rules. I actually want to go far in math now. She wont set you up for failure and she'll help you anytime you need it. The only teacher who answers my emails so that's a +.
Jo is a very nice teacher. She cares about how you do and is willing to help if you need it. She makes everything easy to understand. You work in groups and everyone is helpful and if someone in your group can't help, she is very willing to help you. If you do not like math but need a class, TAKE HER CLASS. Her classes fill up very fast.
She's my boo
You will never get out early. Also you will have homework after every class!
Ms. Stewart is great! I have never like or done well in math but i love her way of teacher. She was very easy to understand and very helpful. Do your homework, take notes and be on time.
i have stewart for an online course and i she is incredible organized and i love that she shows u what u do wrong. best teacher i have had as far as online goes!
She is by far, bar none, hands down, the biggest B I have ever had at Mott. Worst attitude ever and treats her students like 4th graders. I mean i did really good in her class but she is just a horrible person. Its almost as if she is getting some kind of revenge on her students for something. Decent teacher but just a terrible personality.
Very good teacher. love the different ways she taught. You did have to do homework, which I didnt mind.
Hard her for 110 and 120, if u dont get on her bad side ur alright! She expects u to do your work and give an effort. If you try you will do fine. If you are a guy she is for sure a good reason to go to class every week, she is smokin'. But although she is gorgeous, she is still a great teacher! I would recommend her for as long as she is at Mott
Excellant teacher if you WANT to learn you have to put effort. She is organized and expects you to pay attention and be responsible. Best Professor I have EVER had!
Her teaching methods are good. But she treats her students like crap. She tosses papers at you as if you are a dog. She has no compassion towards anyone or anyting and talks to you as if you were a child. I would not recommend anyone to takre her!!!!!!!!!!!!
Joe is one of the best teachers i have has se has mant teachng abilities and can accomidate anyone like anyone else she has her bad days but is a very nice person but then again i have always been on her good side i HIGHLY reccomend her to anyone if you are willing to learn and actually do work and dont want to be lazy like most
Jo is a very likable lady! she teaches very well. I have never really understood math and she makes it so easy for me she explains it so well. she knows her stuff! I suggest her if you have the choice. She has helped me out so much. and a bonus she's really cute!
Her teaching style is so helpful. If you pay attention in class you can do well. She does not require for you to do homework but it is best if you do to keep up on the material. Before this class I did not enjoy math, nor was I good at it. After taking this class I felt like I learned a lot and gained interest in math again.
Very good teacher and has a very good teaching method. I would recommend her. Since I have had her....she is the only math teacher I am going to take from now on.
Good teacher but shes too serious and doesn't act too friendly towards students
Worst Teacher Ever!!! She gets snotty when people ask questions. That is why i will never ask a question in that class. She embarrasses you when you ask a question, very mean teacher will not help you outside of the class. I will never take her as a teacher ever again. Worse mistake of my life!
Very rude teacher,She fly's thru the material and if you don't understand to bad for you she just keeps going. She acts like the student are a burden and that she has more impotant things to do.She also has her favorites that she will secretly tutor after class.Get a life Jo you might be good looking BUT YOUR ATTUDE SUCKS!
Great teacher and the view is nice!
some found her rude and unhelpful...I think the exact opposite. She was helpful if you wanted it. She just required full attention in class & would scold kids for texting! but offered group quizzes, and promoted group work. Down side is she will delete your calculator programs before a test. she is young & pretty as well.
Jo was the best math teacher i have ever had. She was organized and kept class distractions to a minimum. The people giving her a bad rap on here were the ones causing distraction. I had her for 110, 120, and 145. I really wish she taught calc because she would be my first choice. I am not the fastest learner but she explains and helps so you pass.
I love Jo. Shes def sassy but if I dealt with the fools at Mott I would be too. There is such a thing as a stupid question and shes asked them daily. If you genuinely need help and are capable of learning she is more than willing to help you. If youre having an issue with her or the class you either don't do your hmk or should be in arithmetic 101
Jo is a completely amazing teacher! I can't wait to take another class with her. So long as you do your homework and take notes you will do fine in her class.
Jo is a egomaniac, if you don't do math the way she teaches it you are doing it wrong. If you miss a single class be prepared to lost up a creak withou a paddle, because she won't teach you any thing you have missed. You better pray for a good group or your screwed.
Jo-Jo worked it out with her math notes. If you pay attention and DO YOUR HOMEWORK and PRACTICE from what you do badly on from quiz's, homework, and tests---You will win an A...like me. She WILL NOT move on until you understand..she was the best. Oh yeah...keep your cell phone off. I heard she was a child math virtuoso. Peace!
Very clear with her teaching and she just doesn't "tell" you how to do it
I took Jo and ended up changing my degree major because I loved how she taught and the topic so much! She's easy to follow, but DO YOUR HOMEWORK. If you aren't familiar with the content, make sure to speak up and ask questions on EVERYTHING. If you do that and study the problems you get wrong for each exam, you'll pass the class with a 4.0.
she is a great teacher you just have to pray you are smart, or you have smart people in your group!!! and make sure you know whats going on come test day because thats all by yourself.
She's a good teacher, but I'm pretty good at math. I think she can go pretty fast for some people but overall I like her, and she always has an extra credit problem on every test/quiz.
I hate to say this, but Jo has made me lose some interest in mathematics. She has to look straight out of her notes to do any problem, she does not interact with the students, she makes mistakes often and gets upset when a student asks a question. She is, by far, the worst teacher I have ever had and it has been an absolute displeasure.
I have had Jo for many different levels of math. I have had other math teachers as well. Jo is strict in her ways but a good and thorough teacher. She explains things so people can understand them and she also is more than willing to help her students succeed. She gives plenty of opportunity for students to ask questions.
Jo Stewart was by far the worst teacher I have had at Mott. Her attitude is poor. She acts like she doesn't want to be there. She is rude and not willing to help her students out. I would not recommend her class to anyone, she will make you feel worthless! If you don't understand math she is not the teacher for you, she will not answer questions
i love jo didnt like math very much but after i took her for basic math i requested her for beginning algebra and intermediate algebra and now im ok with math. i love her style of teaching because she breaks it down so you understand love her. do all ur homework and u will b fine.
She is BY FAR the worst professor I've ever had. Her attitude is HORRIBLE. She is rude and has you ask your "group" if you're not understanding something. When you do ask her questions she makes you feel stupid. I recommend that you get a different professor if you don't understand math very well.
She appeared to hate her job, & was easily annoyed by students. Her explanations were clear, however if you needed further explanation forget it! She wanted you to get outside help but wanted you to do it the way she taught it. She required you to get the phone #'s of other classmates for help! I thought I was there to learn from her not them!!
WARNING: DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER! She rushes through the material. She does not have any compassion for the students. She is ALWAYS in a rush and has no desire to help!
Ive had Jo 3 times in math and shes always been a clear instructor. Ive nvr seen her turn a student down when they asked a question. She gives you time at the begining of class to ask questions and shes open to questions after class. She was probably the best math teacher ive ever had all throughout school. AWESOME teacher.
Take lots notes everyday! Quizzes are always group or take home. Test review sheets are clear and match what's on the upcoming test. DO THE HOMEWORK assigned, ask questions the next class, study the reviews and you should do fine. Quizzes are usually harder than tests. She isn't mean in any way, just stern and expects the best out of you.
DO NOT TAKE HER. She is so rude and she flies through all the material. If you need help, too bad. She doesn't care. She makes you have your peers assist you because she's "too busy"
The way she responded so rudely to the questions of other students made me feel very uncomfortable asking questions. It's hard to study when you can't use the book for reference because she teaches different methods. I'd advise against taking her unless math comes very easy to you.
Jo is one of the best math teachers I have ever had! Her notes are simple and easy to follow, she is very helpful, and she lays EVERYTHING out on a study guide for the exams. All of the quizzes (challenging) are group and take home. Plus, there's extra credit. DO THE HOMEWORK DAILY and you'll do well. It's easy to get an A.
Easy on the eyes
she is a good teacher and is so professional. I took her in spring. She did not talk about stuff other than maths in the class. Her teaching style was too good. She gave us homework but never checked, though it was for practice and was the key to get a 4.0. All the quizzes were "take home".
Took 120 and 130 math with her and would highly recommend. Quizzes are all group work but tests are individual. She explains everything very clear and the class is very straight forward. Homework isn't graded so it is just a recommendation if the material wasn't as clear. Wish she taught even more classes so I could have her again!
I looooove having Jo Stewart. Her notes are very organized and clear cut. So coping them down during class is very easy. Her quizzes are take home. She really makes you love to learn math.
My biggest issue with Jo is her attitude toward students. She is not easy to talk to and acts like it is a burden to answer questions. Her rudeness makes it difficult learn successfully. I do not recomend this professor if you are someone who likes to ask questions for a better understanding.
Very rude and hard to speak to.
Highly rude and clearly hates her job. She has no respect for students, and if you ask a question, will treat you like an idiot. She has such an attitude that you wonder why she is a teacher or why mott decided to hire her in the first place. Do not recommend.
The quizzes are easy and they are group work, where as the tests were hard and were individual. No notes on tests. It's hard to take a math test with no notes when each section is a building block for the next one. It's hard to go back and remember the basics. She is all business in class and makes you feel dumb for asking questions.
I din't find her to be very helpful but her teaching process is clear and direct. She likes things a certain way and no other way, which is good if your interested in physics. She gets people ready to expect a more complex way of math. If you are looking for an instructor to help you all the time she is not the best for that.
Very clear cut and the notes are amazing. If you follow along and do your homework you'll be fine. I enjoy her organized teaching style along with study guides that are very similar to the tests.
Not that great of a teacher, does not like to answer questions. Takes forever to post grades on blackboard.
Moves to fast while she's teaching. She sometimes skips steps in problem demonstrations, which makes it hard to grasp whats going on. I would not ever take a class with her ever again! She doesn't care for your grade, and that's not what Mott Advertises, they advertise teachers who care.
Really enjoy her teaching style, I just wish she used Blackboard to post test and quiz grades.
Very good teacher. She throughly goes over the material and is willing to help you if you are having a hard time understanding the content. I would definitely recommend her.
She goes too fast when she is teaching and skips steps, which is very frustrating! For example, she will write something down on the board and just point at it and say what you have to do. There is way to much material on the tests, it's hard to finish them if you do at all! Don't take her, just don't do it. :(
Ms. Jo is no joke. She walks in to the classroom and straight to the white board. She doesn't stop to ask how your weekend was or to make small talk; she is all business. However, she is an incredible teacher. She is patient, she explains things well and you will actually learn. Don't be intimidated by her, she is a real gem.
Long hours of study confusing instructions
Just an unrealistic confusing way of teaching. At leat 8 hours a week in homework.
Just an awful instructor. Confusing too fast and doesn't care.
Just amazing the most confused person on the plant. I thought this was a math class?
I don't believe this lady is credible to teach math. I have yet to learn anything she is very confusing and has taught nothing.
I tried and unfortunately waited too long hoping maybe just a few weeks of odd teaching, awkward and confusing. Now I'll take the withdrawal.
Just an impossible confusing person....
Is there anyone at this school that looks at this instructors teaching methods? Also what she's teaching???
Not very clear on what she's teaching and her methods are confusing. As others said where does this math apply in other classes?
She blows through everything so quickly work is so confusing. Avi9d her at all costs!
O would advise anyone taking math to find another instructor especially if Math isn't your strong suit
Tuff to follow
Lectures are confusing fast talking pause rewind play again so a 1 hour lecture ends up as 2 hours and confused.
Teaches a weird math
Math was never my strongest subject but never seen this math before when I asked her if this is relevant to future math she said no..... Crazy
Unless you love math she definitely makes things more confusing than it has to be. Avoid this one
Shes confusing uses terms like their important but just completely unnecessary
I'm not happy at all she pushes right through to even try to get a grasp on the area your struggling with shes all ready 2 chapters ahead even trying to get help is useless by the time you do shes way ahead and the areas you need help with is so many.... If there's one instructor here I'll never forget due to dislike it's her she doesn't care
A good instructor makes sure her students can keep up with the subject this lady shouldn't be a teacher it's all about getting paid I see
I tell you Motts Math department needs to be overhauled. I average 3.5 to 4.0 in All my classes I'm failing this class she need to be replaced with someone that likes to teach! Wants people to learn Fire her!
