The additive point system used was a good idea to allow people with weird schedules or outside obligations (kids) the ability to get a full grade for the same amount of work, with different combinations of assignments. It was possible to skip an essay and a discussion board post but still get full marks for completing all the extra credit tasks.

Great Professor! Recommend for anyone trying to take English.

Professor Isip was very nice and helped me learn a lot throughout the semester, probably one of the best professors I've had so far.

Professor Isip respects all of his students which causes his students to respect him as well. The amount of extra credit opportunities is very much appreciated, and he does a good job of making the work fun and engaging.

I had some financial trouble middle of the semester and picked up a second job. Dr. Isip was very understanding and stated as long as i complete my work he would not count off for attendance.

Professor Isip was very clear since the beginning of the class, the extra credit opportunities and the way he gives his lectures are all you need to get an easy A. Literally just pay attention to his announcements.

English had never been a class enjoyed, and I was always hesitant to take it, but taking Dr. Isip's course gave me a better experience towards this subject. He truly gives essential topics for you to learn in class. He provided weekly emails on what to expect in the weeks ahead and gave plenty of extra credit. A very easy course to get an A in.

Professor Isip is a professor I really enjoy being in the class with, the way he organizes all of his assignments down to being very open to any conversation and actually encourages everyone to open up about any topic and will actually sit there too and wait until someone shares their opinion.

while this class had an attendance rule, it felt as if there were so many days where we suddenly had class canceled. it felt as if the attendance rule didn't have too much importance because of the fact that class was canceled so much. Overall if you pay attention and do what the professor says though, you will most likely get a good grade.

I recommend his class because the modules are weekly, giving enough time to complete the discussion board topic and writing assignment for each module. He keeps class lectures short and provides plenty of time in class to ask questions and understand the weekly lessons. Follow the writing assignment's instructions thoroughly, and utilize Grammarly

He has a very good and easy 3 week course that allows for you to get all of the things you need to get dose out of the way very easy.

Dr. Isip is amazing! Even in a 3-weekend course, he managed to keep homework to a minimum. On online days (Sundays) we did have like 3 assignments, but they are very easy, only about 2 paragraphs for each. In-class days (Friday and Saturday) classes never go over two hours. You do have to purchase two books but they make a pretty interesting read.

I took Dr. Isip's 3-weekend class, and it was definitely worth it. He is a great professor and would ensure you walk out of his class learning and retaining new knowledge. He's very thorough. Lots of extra credit. All the material promotes critical thinking/analysis of life using relevant and current topics with teachings from the likes of Plato, Socrates, and others. He is caring, funny, and very fair. You'll never be overloaded with homework. Attendance and participation matter to him. My favorite professor ever!

Even taking this as an 8 week class, the course work was easily manageable. All the assignments are meant to stimulate/develop critical thinking. Plus, Professor Isip gives plenty of extra credit opportunities. It was a fun class with interesting, topical discussions. If you need to take composition, take one of his classes!

If you take this class, prepare to put in some effort for your reading and writing skills, but don't be scared of him. Dr.Isip, while being blunt and straightforward, is also caring. If you fail your first couple of writings, he throws in a generous amount of extra credit you can do. He is also hilarious.

He offered many extra credit assignments, I took the class that was a collaboration with ECON 2302 (Dr. James Latham) and it was very fun! Both classes complimented each other and as long as you do the assignments (they care more about your effort than the technicalities of your submission), you'll get an A!

Most of the assignments are discussion-based, he reads and gives feedback on each of them! Easy A as long as you're completing the assignments.

Doctor Isip is a very welcoming teacher whose teaching style gives students many opportunities to excel at his course. For example, about halfway through our semester Doctor Isip spent a day to talk individually with every student present to discuss their grade; along with ways to improve said grade or improve one's writing.

I want to let other college students know that once you register for ENGL 1301 and take Dr. Isip's class as your professor. Because he knows how to keep class enjoyable, and group participation discussion in class does make it fun. His class isn't that difficult or stressful to receive a failing grade. I could have not taken a better English couse. You do not need to be the world's best writer to pass this class. Follow the instructions and you cannot fail. Curriculum is relevant and work load each week is easy to manage even with a busy schedule. Dr. Isip is passionate, fair and not intimidating at all I highly reccomend him as an instructor.

Best professor I've had at Collin so far easily. Gives clear instructions on assignments and extra credit for all students. Also his assignments are the most engaging out of all the ones I've had to do at Collin so far. If you manage to get a spot in his class you definitely won't regret it.

I took the class online during the summer and I was able to do pretty well in the class. Prof. Isip never made us do too much work. All the assignments were manageable as long as you give yourself ample time to prepare. And he always did give us time to prepare! All assignments would be due by the end the week. He's a funny guy who loves memes.

Good class. Professor did a good job with the lectures and was easy to understand, Canvas was well set up and made easily accessible. There's not actually a textbook - just three books that have to read. All of them are available at the school's library and the first one is on Audible.They're pretty easy reads, too.

His lectures were engaging with his fun personality. I took his 8 week course, clearly laid out modules with half opening mid-week and all assignments being due on Sunday. Grading is based on a point system (900=A) and an "all or nothing"; as long as requirements are met, you get full points. Do the extra credit early on! 1 book & 2 Comics.

Good class. Professor did a good job with the lectures and was easy to understand, Canvas was well set up and made easily accessible. There's not actually a textbook - just three books that you have to read (they're good reads). Expectations for homework is clear - either you do what's asked and get the grade, or you don't.
