He is extremely knowledgeable with his stuff since he also TA the human anatomy class. If you attend class everyday, you shouldn't have probably getting good grade in his class.

This is his first semester teaching this class and it is a joke. His tests are the hardest I've ever taken. He is strictly powerpoints. If you don't come to class for him to explain the powerpoints, you won't pass. Tests are all that affect your grade. I have A's in all quizzes and assignments, I still won't get an A. Professor Groot teaches Kinesiology different than the ways that other professors have taught Kinesiology at the University of Utah. He focuses more on the functional implication of muscles and therefore his tests are much more conceptual and harder than just memorizing names of muscles. If you are considering anatomy, I recommend taking it at SLCC. The hardest part of this class are the traces. You will be tested on problems such as "Trace a drop of blood from the heart to oxygen in the lungs. " If you look closely, all of the positive reviews for this class were written by teaching assistants for anatomy, so disregard them.

This class is awful! The majority of our grade is determined by three exams, a final, and a lab final. There is a lab component requiring you to memorize 50+ structures each week. One time, we had a quiz, practicum, and a model due in one lab. Lecture is content heavy, requires 2 hours of study a day. Exams are brutal and test on minor details.

If you are willing to study every single day, review 40+ terms, and study new 20+ terms cumulative every week, then take the class. I would not have done well in this class with a different professor. He's the GROAT.

Groot presents well but isn't a great teacher, reflected in his average grade for the course. His exams are extremely hard, workbooks often irrelevant, and TAs are terrible at grading & have god complexes. Study 20-40 hrs/week for labs and exams to earn at least a B. This course is unnecessarily difficult for a 2000 level course. Avoid it at the U.

This class made me regret taking it. If you fall behind once just drop the class. You will not pass if you have a job or get sick. Unfortunately this is required for my major so I will be retaking it at SLCC.

If you take this class, be prepared to study nonstop, quit your job maybe, and get those antidepressants on the line. The 45% fail rate says enough about Groot. If you have a job or any life outside school, take the course at SLCC with Andy Munguia instead. When I retook it there, I understood the material so much better and passed with an A.

Groot was an amazing professor! Best advice: show up, put in the work, and take advantage of TA hours. It was my first time taking it and got a B+, so don't let the slackers in the reviews stress you out. also, If you want to take it at slcc you're signing up for poor education compared to the anatomy program at the U. Invest in your education!

Groot is the best professor I have ever had. He is intelligent, incredible lecturer, and it is clear that he loves his job. However, this class is extremely difficult and the volume of content is crazy. It is doable but make sure to stay ahead and have plenty of time in your week to dedicate to this class. Most TA's are amazing, some aren't nice.

Groot is an amazing professor and he has the most passionate and engaging lectures. However the class is absolutely set up for failure if you do not have 20+ hours a week to study, have a job etc, or are good at testing as your entire grade is determined by exams. Take the class at SLCC if you want to actually do well.

This guy is a horrible teacher. He gatekeeps all the information you are supposed to know because he does not discuss it in class, and it is not included on his slides. I stopped attending class and instead had ChatGPT guide me through the workbook to do well in the class.

Groot is a great lecturer and sets up the class well. This class does not have any concepts that will challenge you, but rather an information overload of memorization on a systemic/regional level. Exams are straightforward. I studied ~10 hours on exam weeks and ~3 hours on non-exam weeks, went to all lectures/labs, and got an A.

Groot is a great professor and you learn a lot of really interesting content. He's a very smart and cool dude however the course is very very difficult in terms of content. This is probably the most content heavy class I've ever taken so its really important to study and stay on top of things.
