Really didn't use book. Had to read chapters though. Really good lectures that keep your attention. Made the subject really fun to learn. As long as you read and take notes you'll do well in this class. Highly recommended!
i had him back in southern california. he was fun, just not very well experienced. he gave good presentations, although you couldn't exactly trust everything he said. i dont know if he's gotten better, but he was an easy teacher to take.
Mr. McPhee is a great teacher. He is really smart and very sexy. I loved this class. His lectures were interesting and cool, and the tests were not too hard. I thought I would hate geography, but now I love it. He inspired me to change my major, and to travel to Europe.
Man, this guy loves geography. He is a total nerd. However, he if very over-enthusiastic and it makes the class fun. I recommend this class.
He is an awesome teacher. You can tell that he loves what he does and that makes the class very fun. He has either hiked to or climbed up every single type of landform. He shows lots of pictures which make it very easy to learn. This is the best class I have ever taken! If you can't do good in this class, then you don't belong in college.
coolest/nerdiest teacher i have ever had. is a dork but makes class funny and interesting. tests and assignments are all very easy
Mr. McPhee was a decent teacher. He is a little boring at times but overall a good teacher. If i had to take another Geog class I would take him.
SOOO HOTT!!!! I would! take his class he is seriously into Science so much fun to listen to him...
Most entertaining teacher you will ever have! He is a complete nerd, but he sounds just like Tom Hanks and sort of looks like him too. I loved all his stories and pictures from around the world. He teaches clearly and his tests are super easy. I still remember the little succulent Joshua Trees I learned about. Definitely take this class! :)

This guy was really into Geography. He was interested in what he was telling us and it really came across as an interesting subject because of it. I loved this class and he got me more interested in Geography. A+++ for MCPHEE!
He was a fun teacher and really into geography! Had a lot of fun times in McPhee's class. The lectures can get a little long but if you take notes and skim the book you will get an A. And a little respect goes a long way - turn your phones off.
this guy is akward/nerdy/BRILLIANT. i really thought this guys was completely Hilarious and really into georgraphy. the class is easy, the tests are easy, i didnt even look at the book.he is probably my favorite teacher so far.
I really didn't like this class his teaching style was awful no interactions with students and no projects if you like tests its your class.
His lectures are easy to follow. He reviews for all the tests. He's young and gets really excited about the subject and knows it, sometimes gets ahead of himself. If you ask him for help he will help you and is very nice about it. His class got me interested in making Geog my minor. I will only take him for 4B next semester. LOVE HIM
Mr. McPhee is incredibly passionate about Geography. His lectures are interesting and easy to follow along and he reviews for all tests. He wants his students to succeed in the class and makes it very easy to do so as long as you show up, take notes, and stay for review. He is a very sweet young man, who will have a long career in academia.
Great, interesting teacher! Makes geography 5 worth taking!
awesome, easy, nerdy, funny professor. earn easy A and actually learn some geography.
Excellent teacher, perhaps one of the best I have ever had. He is extremely passinate about Geography, and has pictures of his travels that he loves to show, Which makes the class more invovling IMO. He made a class that I thought would be boring and bland very intresting and fun. I would recomend him above any other teacher.
Just pay attention and you'll do fine in this class. Mr McPhee is a bit akward and nerdy but you will walk away with lots of knowledge and a love for the man that thinks geography rocks !
Class is very easy, McPhee makes learning fun and interesting and cares about the students, he often holds office hours past his normal time to help students. Make sure you take all the tests and that you show up to class to take notes, his style might be a little dry and awkward but if you copy the notes you'll do fine
I've taken 3 classes from McPhee, and only needed 1. He is an amazing man. Some say he's awkward but they don't understand his sense of humor. Brilliant man. Take detailed notes, they'll help a lot. Willing to even sit down and have lunch with you to help, saw him do it many times. Attendance not mandatory, but why miss out on a great class?
Best teacher I've ever had! he made me want to travel the world with his geo lectures. I got over 100% (there was extra credit) at the end of the year and hardly studied.
McPhee is a tottal hottie, make the class more interesting because he will keep you in till the last min. hes kinda nerdy but its cute and he has his funny moments. you almost have to try to fail this class, if you show up you will pass plus he gives extra credit for every unit that he goes over. easy A just show up
Very very passionate about his job. Makes learning super fun because he's so nerdy and funny to laugh with. Love this teacher, wish he taught all the subjects I have to take! No need to use textbook, he uses all of his notes for the test. STAY FOR THE REVIEW PERIODS!!! HE GIVES ANSWERS
Definately my favorite class this semester. There are lots of tests so you have to be willing to study, but all of the test material is from the notes he gives. He is very interested in the subject so that helps a lot! He's funny sometimes too and a very likeable person. I would definately take another class with him!
Take this teacher!!! Oh my goodness after this class I can tell you about a country named Brunai or other tiny countries. I want to travel the world after this class.!
I love McPhee! By the end of the semester I had learned so much and couldn't wait to go to class! Makes weather exciting and lectures are super engaging, unless you absolutely hate the planet. He's also qwirky, passionate, geeky and gets excited about soils! Very straightforward and fun class! Also looks like sheldon from big bang theory! TAKE HIM!
McPhee is suc a nerd but his passion for geography makes the class super fun. He goes in dept on most of the countries he goes over. Before tests he will basically tell you whats on it. He gives extra credit quizes and lets you use the notes. I definately recommend his class!
I have taken about three of Mcphee's courses now and I've got to say, he is an awesome professor. He really loves geography and it definitely translates through his teaching. This class is simple, just show up and take notes. Easy A. Study your notes and you'll do fine. You don't really even need the book. Take him, he's awesome and funny!
McPhee was the best teacher ever! He has the funniest facial expressions and kept class interesting. I would take him again just to listen to him congratulate himself on writing notes without looking at his binder. :)He's awesome...end of story
Mr. McPhee is outstanding and a great teacher. His style is unique and really helps me understand his lecture. I enjoy his classes very much. He deserves a high rating :)
Nice teacher, is very clear in his lectures. Class is 100% note-taking from beginning to end, so maake sure you have the mental capacity to sit and listen. Tests can be difficult depending on how much you study. Other than that, really good class and teacher :)
Such a great teacher. Loved his Geog 5 class so much, I took a second Geog 4B class from him for fun. If you come everyday and take detailed notes, you will ACE every pop quiz and do WELL on the tests. He really cares about his subject, so he is enjoyable to learn from. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
He looks like Sheldon from TBBT, but he is a very cool guy when he's in front of the class. His personality changes when it's on-on-one, though. Very enthusiastic about the material. He literally runs back and forth across the board. I took all of his classes and all were good.
BEST PROF EVER! Before taking his class, I had no interest in geography.. But he made me passionate enough to change my major to urban planning. I've traveled more because of him, done better in school, and my GPA average went from a 2.0 to 3.6, all from taking his classes and getting more passionate and interested in learning. So helpful, awesome.
Attendance is not mandatory, but why miss an awesome class? Easy to get an A if you study the book, or take good notes. He's super helpful, even went over my notes with me at lunch one day! This guy is so cool he has his own FB fan page. Quirky, but awesome.
Take good notes and pay attention and you're guarenteed an A. Don't waste your time with the textbook, you don't need it. As an instructor he's great; he brings energy and enthusiasm to every lecture
McPhee is AWESOME! He is entertaining and he knows so much and loves geography. I was excited to come to class. He made me want to travel around the world. Very good teacher and is really interested in his students liking his class and being successful in life. You'll get an A if you study the notes. TAKE HIM!
McPhee is very passionate and a great lecturer. His tests are easy if you pay attention, and you hardly need to use the book. I strongly recommend any course he teaches. His class is very organized. There is no homework. There are open note quizzes. He turns the lecture before a test into a study guide for the test.
Great teacher! He is a great speaker, fun to listen to. Take notes on his lectures and you'll pass the tests. No homework. The pop quizzes are open note. Just take notes and you'll pass easily. Highly recommend! Very fun and interesting
I LOVED this class. Mr. McPhee is very clear in his lectures and is wonderful at explaining things. Just take good notes and study and it'll be an easy A :)
McPhee is really passionate about geography. If you come to class every day and take notes and read the book, you'll pass with flying color. Really cool instructor to have for geography.
Pretty good teacher overall! Attendance isn't mandatory but he does have random participation quizzes through out the semester. He always does review for his test and pretty much tells you everything that will be on the test
OMG! I loved his class. I'm taking him again this semester, and planning on going back for another two. Interesting class, as long as you take notes you'll pass the tests easily. Biggest issue is getting distracted from checking him out.
Pretty dang good teacher. He is clear and to the point. If you need clarification, he is pretty good at re-explaining things. Taking this course made me actually like geography. He goes over a review for the test, so there is no reason not to pass his class.
He really pronounces his consonants, If you take decent notes you will pass the tests.
It's honestly inspiring watching him lecture. His passion for geography is something that shines through in every lecture, and it's cool how much he cares about what he is actually teaching. He made geography interesting and fun to learn about. Show up. Take good notes. Sit in for the review. You will pass the class. He is a very good teacher.
Great Teacher! Easy, Crystal Clear. Study your lecture notes really good, go to class!! Do this and, get an "A " He Makes Geography so interesting and he keeps you engaged! One of the best teachers I have ever had!!! Very helpful and explains things perfect. He gives participation point quizzes, they are straightforward and easy.
He is by far my favorite teacher
He is by far my favorite teacher. Great lectures and very passionate about the subject
He's definitely a great teacher and LOVES his job, don't get me wrong, but the class is tough. Will never give homework but does give weekly pop quizzes. When lecturing do not interrupt him! Does give you a study guide but almost none of it is on the test, MUST read textbook and notes when studying.
All you do in this class is listen to lectures (which are extremely boring if you are not interested in the subject whatsoever). No homework, random quizzes and five exams including the final (does not drop your lowest test score). You can tell he is passionate about his subject but he's extremely rude to any students who ask any questions.
Does not give homework which I didn't like. He tells you what to study for the test by giving us lecture reviews for the exams. About 90% of the study guide is not on the exam. Read that book or your grade will suck.
He's a great teacher and cute too. :)
He's very passionate about teaching geography so he's a fantastic professor to have! Take good notes, read the book, and you will pass with an easy A! Tests are simple - he will tell you test questions during his lectures. No homework, just pay attention in class! Gives a weekly pop quiz on what he lectured on that day.
Awesome Professor. 10 quizzes are super easy (Open-note quizzes). The only thing that some students may have trouble with are key-terms. There are a lot of key-terms that needs to be remembered, so if you're not very good with key-terms, I recommend studying the key-terms, because the essay portion will involve defining some key-terms.
You DON'T need the book just show up everyday take notes and stay for the review days and study really good you'll pass no problem.
He is a great teacher. He pretty much tells you exactly what's on the tests. He does use the "pop participation quiz" tactic to try to get you to come to class, they are open note. Its just boring. He is passionate and teaches it well, I'm just not into it. The grade is just made up of tests and quizzes, so beware if you're a bad test taker.
He's a very interesting character. His lectures are completely hand drawn on the whiteboard. So if you miss a class, you're out of luck. But he does great reviews before the tests. The material is boring, but he's funny in a Michael Scott kind of way. If you like the Office, you'll like McPhee.
He's very nice, but the problem is, he doesn't give out homework and that's what helps me on the test. His lectures are long and fast. He barely helped me and I'm a bit disappointed.
He gives out a lot of lectures, hardly any homework. All you have to do is show up and study for the tests. Tests are identical to the lectures. Gives out pop-quizzes, open notes. Very passionate about this subject. Didn't need the textbook either! I personally enjoyed his class. I would take it again if I could!
Loves long walks on the beach and candle light dinners, loves listening to slow jams to bump and grind to and loves poetry and deep emotional conversations.
I absolutely loved this class. McPhee is a great teacher and his love for the subject is evident. NO homework, which is nice if you're overloaded. However, that makes the test heavily weighted. Tests are pretty easy, just study your notes and go to class. Love the review below me, SPOT ON.
Awkward, funny, simple, and easy. Show up and study and you'll pass.
So glad I took Professor McPhee! One of the best professors I have ever had. Passionate about what he teaches; makes the class much more interesting. He is more than happy to help you during his office hours if you need it. Classes consist of lectures and about 10 pop quizzes throughout the semester. No homework, just studying for the tests.
entertaining and awkward teacher. you dont need the book. he will lecture on the chapters and tell you whats on the test. im just upset that i spent $$ on the book when i didnt even open it. there are pop quizzes and he lets you use notes. he is passionate about geography. he will review the class before the test. he likes to give LOTS of fun facts
Jon is my favorite teacher yet. He is so adorable and just REALLY enjoys geography. He lectures the whole time but he also writes it all on he board. He goes over everything in the book, I didn't even buy the book because he covers it all. He announces at the beginning of class if there will be a participation quiz on the notes covered that day.
Mcphee Geo 5 class is just a lecture class. NO HOMEWORK and just exams which are fairly easy. I would advise you to stay for the review the day before the exam because he tells you whats on the exam. Study topics are no more then just definition so there was really no need for the textbook. I WOULDNT BUY THE BOOK. Show up to class and you'll pass.
This guy loves his job. He is truly passionate about Geography, and if you learn to appreciate this, you will really like McPhee. I saw my neighbors' tests and they were receiving Ds and Fs... I have no idea how. I got nearly 100 on every test just by making a study guide and vigorously studying it. Just try. If you can't ace this class go back to
I took geography 9 my very first semester of city college (thinking i was an art major at the time) Im now at San Francisco State, very close to getting my Physical Geography/ Earth Science degree- all because Jon McPhee opened my eyes to this WIDELY INTERESTING subject. So much thanks!
Great teacher, kinda awkward but in a funny way. I wish I studied more for his class. tests and quizzes are easy if you just study. He doesn't give out homework, but has good lectures.
He is very passionate about Geography & lectures are interesting. No homework. Just 12 participation quizzes (you can use notes) & 6 tests (multiple choice, T/F & 3 essay questions). Gives a thorough review before exams & lets you know what areas are possible essay questions.
Jon McPhee is my favorite instructor I have ever had. He makes geography really interesting because he is really into it. His lectures are interesting & correlate to the tests. I also like how he uses a powerpoint of pictures that he has taken on road trips/hikes he has been on to show real life examples of what he is lecturing. I learned so much.
You learn to love this guy, he is a funky dude but so passionate about his job teaching geography and educating his students. The level of excitement he has for teaching is unparalleled and it is inspirational, I could listen to him talk for days. Make sure you show up to every class for participation quizzes and reviews!
Take McPhee! He is so passionate about geography; it was so entertaining to hear him get giddy about all that boring stuff. Prepare to hear "isn't that fascinating?" Such a nice guy. You don't need the book! Just write down everything and study the hell out of it. I got a 96% with minimal effort.
My favorite teacher. Made me love learning about the Earth. He is so passionate and sincere with his teaching, it's adorable! He gives the answers to the tests practically if you study.
Some of the material in his courses can be boring, but wow...I don't think I've ever met someone that could be so passionate about what he teaches. His favorite phrase is "isn't that fascinating?" The tests are relatively easy, just study your lecture notes and skim over the chapters. Great teacher.
McPhee is super awesome! His lectures are interesting, he doesn't assign any homework for his Geog 5 class. Make sure to go to lecture because the test is heavily based on his own lecture notes and he does random quizzes! Also he always drops hints on what will be on the test. He's so passionate and is super quirky and funny in his lectures.
Professor McPhee is a good teacher. You will not have any homework all that he asked is that you read the book. There are review days before the test to help you. Every time you go to class there will be a lecture and you should take notes because he has participation quizzes but lets you use your notes. Definitely recommend this class.
Im not a geography major, but McPhee was a great teacher. He gives participation quizzes about once a week but they are easy because you can use notes, and the points add up. The tests are fairly easy because he has a review day before every test and will tell you exactly what to focus on.
This is one of the best classes I've taken this semester. Not only is Professor McPhee obviously passionate about the class topic, but his lectures are extremely informative and actually made me excited to learn and take notes (notes will help a lot). PLEASE attend class (there are random participation quizzes given at the end of lectures!)
I loved Jon Mcphee's class! He's very passionate about what he does and has amazing lectures. You can tell he puts a lot of time and dedication into his teaching. He is also super funny at times! Tests aren't hard if you show up to class and take notes.
Mr. McPhee is an amazing professor he is very helpful and wants his students to pass. No homework, book really isn't a must. He leaves one in the library. He does do random participation quizzes on notes he just went over so its super easy. HE IS THE BEST!!
McPhee is a great professor. The only problem I ever had with him is his time management within the limit of an hour and fifteen minutes. When it is review day, sometimes he is unable to go over some/the majority of what is going to be on the test, and lemme tell ya, those reviews are lifesavors. So when there's no time for them, ya doomed.
He's really passionate about the subject which made his lectures very interesting. You can get away with not showing up to class & just reading the book. But most of what's on the exams, he writes on the board during lectures. No homework. Overall a great class!
I really love his lecture . I learned rvetything. I just wish I can go back in time for the test to get a higher score . Im worried I will failed in his class. Hopefully the finals will help me .
I took his Environmental Conditions class last semester and then his Land Formations class this semester and loved them both! He's one of my favorite teachers! He's so nice and really funny too. The class is so easy. Just go to class and take good notes. He writes everything on the board. Just study your notes really good and you'll pass.
If your a visual learn then this is NOT the class for you. He only writes the terms and definition on the board, which go in one ear and out the other even when writing it down for me, with the occasional picture slide show at the end when you can't remember anything. I also don't test very well and the only grades he puts in are the tests.
Mr. McPhee is an awesome teacher! He's so nice, funny, and his class is chill. Go to class take notes, study your notes and you'll pass!
Mr. McPhee is the best! He really loves what he teaches and likes to make corner jokes which makes the class fun. There is no homework, but lots of notes. He doesn't give study guides but he does say what is and isn't on the test. I recommend making notecards for the test, they really help me. The textbook isn't used in class but for studying.
Mr. McPhee is a great teacher! He is very passionate about geography and, unlike most professors, will tell you what career paths you can take involving the subject of his class. His class is simple and easy. He says that you need the textbook, but all you need to do is study the notes you take in class to do well on the tests! Also, no homework!
Great teacher, passionate about the subject, you need to go to class to pass. We had around 10 quizzes throughout the semester (you can use your notes). If you go to the lectures and read the text before tests, you'll get an A. He' s very clear on what's on the test and his reviews are very helpful.
I really like his class. If you study your notes, you wont need the book and he reviews for the test. Super nice guy with tons of energy. He does participation quizzes on what you go over that class period, so make sure to show up.
He is caring and easy to reach in his office whenever we need help for extra explanation. No homework. Just make sure you take notes, then you'll be OK.
This class is incredibly wonderful. McPhee is so passionate about what he's teaching, has amazingly interesting lectures and has a sense of humor. Don't disrespect his class by texting or talking as he really is trying to help students understand the material. Also, don't miss class, most of the exams are based on the lecture notes.
This class was great because there's no homework or assignments, so the only thing contributing to your grade is test scores. No need to get a book because the exams are based off just notes.
Professor McPhee is super hilarious and gives off major good vibes. He knows the material like the back of his hand and is super knowledgable. All you have to do is show up and take notes and STUDY for the tests. No homework is ever given by Professor McPhee. I had a great time in his class and I learned a lot.
Ima keep it real with you this class is easy but the professor talks too much so if you want to get to know your classmates this isnt the class for you because you wont get the chance to.
McPhee is probably one of the most nicest professors Ive ever met and had. His class is SUPER easy. Just show up, take notes, and take the exams. I hardly ever needed to read the book, since all the info you need for the exams are from the in-class notes you take. Plus, he goes over specifically What to studyforbthe exams. Totally recommend!
I recommend just sitting in class and making flashcards since the tests are based off of definitions learned in class. If you miss class, be sure to catch up the definitions and information missed on the absent day(s). I didnt really need to use the textbook however it may come in handy to get it anyways. Overall, a wonderful teacher.
McPhee is a very nice guy. He writes everything on the board instead of using a slideshow so he is very easy to keep up with. He does pop quizzes but they are only 5 questions and we get to use our notes. The tests were a little bit harder because there were no study guides. We were told to read the book at home, I didn't but I still did well.
Very nice teacher . One of the sweetest. Although geography was not my strongest subject it was a easy class because he gives u everything u need to know for tests . Lots of points you could use , as long as u show up you will be good .
He's super nice teacher and i really enjoy his lectures
Awesome professor, he has a great personality and you can tell he really cares about his students and takes teaching seriously. You will have to take a lot of notes in this class but you use them to study for the tests.
A really great teacher. McPhee is super nice and really interested in Geography. The test were straight from his notes nothing unexpected. His lectures are super helpful!! Also yes pop up quizzes, but theyre at the end of class and in the notes from the lecture that day. Would highly recommend!!
Love him!!! Hes awesome, so nice. Show up to class take notes and youll pass!!! Although he does have some quizzes at random times but super easy!
Best Geog-1 teacher ever! He is super clear on what he wants and the textbook wasn't expensive at all. I took him online while taking 5 other classes, and this class was a piece of cake.
His lectures were boring. He did not use power point slides just writing on the board and I would have to write fast before he would erase it which wasn't much time. I dropped his class after 2 weeks and decided to take Geography at another college instead.
He gives weekly lectures which I recommend you just write down whats on the screendont try to keep up with him talking hes too fast. Go through and write it before (you dont have to watch them if you dont have time) and then take the weekly quizzes with your notes. Super easy as long as you have the notes down, you can always find the answers
McPhee is super funny and his lectures are very detailed. I took this class online and we only had a discussion every 2 weeks, a quiz every 2 weeks and a test for each chapter. Would totally take another class of his! Super easy!
Took this class online. Quiz once a week on the lectures for that week. Just take notes on those lectures and you will be fine. He assigns everything on Mondays and the quiz is due by Friday night. Discussion board every two weeks. The final is not comprehensive and is just like a quiz with a few more questions. Super easy.
Mr. McPhee's class was straightforward and simple. Every week, I completed one assignment, watched the lectures, and read the textbook. The assignments were tied into the test and made it really easy to understand the material. I would personally recommend him.
Great professor. Lectures are simple and book is easy to understand. Online class had weekly quizzes and exams every 3-4 weeks. Exams were mixed T/F and multiple choice. Physical Geography 1 is very easy if you paid attention during middle school and high school. Would highly recommend taking his class online since it is low-maintenance.
Very boring online class but would I take this professor again? Most definitely. Lectures nearly destroyed me after first week, decided to search up the answers and never looked back again. You find 90% of your answers with simple searches. No proctored exams/quizzes. If you are a chicken then screenshot the lecture notes. You'll be good from there
Best lectures I've ever been to, great at explaining. The tests are all based on the notes so make sure you go to class and STUDY THE NOTES. I got a C- on the first test, but once I made a study group I was getting A's easily(class avg on test was 50's). Has open note pop quizzes and only has one hw assignment which is a longer pop quiz.
Professor McPhee is a great professor and makes his course super manageable. He is clearly very passionate about his subject. All of the tests are all based on memorization so all you need is to make flashcards and memorize those. There is barely any homework and the quizzes are not challenging and based on the lectures. Take lots of notes.
jon is very understanding and he really does care about each student and really loves his job as a teacher
He stuck exactly to the exam study guides/lecture slides, which helped a lot. After having professors who ridiculously drown you in assignments and make classes unreasonably difficult, I can more than appreciate this guy's simple routines, clear on his expectations and not tricky on his exam questions. I would recommend this teacher!
Very very very easy online class. Just one 8-question quiz a week based on lectures. I think an exam every 4 weeks, but entirely multiple choice. You're supposed to buy a textbook, but I never did because everything is in the lectures. Mr. McPhee is very structured and organized. I never had to reach out for anything. He seems nice though.
Professor McPhee makes the course super manageable. His lectures are engaging and he clearly loves the subject. Tests focus on lecture notes, so taking good notes and using tools like unstuck ai for memorization help a lot.
You can tell he cares a lot about geography. You don't need the textbook since the slides account for all the quizzes and tests. There's one assignment per week and one paper to write.
I love Professor McPhee; he is super nice and passionate about the subject. Make sure to take notes during lectures, which are relatively easy to follow and keep up with. The only stress I ever got from this class was studying for the tests, which are all memorization-based. There is a lot of vocab to retain, so study early if you can.
Is passionate about the subject. Very quirky & sorta hard to talk to. No-one in class speaks or asks questions. MUST ATTEND CLASSES as he is heavy on lectures. Also does pop-quizzes & hw. He's fine.
I really enjoyed this class and I am not a geography person. He is passionate and cares a lot about students. However, there is very little hw he passes out which is a good and a bad thing because your grade literally depends on your tests. I personally didn't care that much because I did decently well on the tests. They are memory and vocab based.
Mcphee made me want to travel the world to find different types of terrain. His lectures are about 30-120 minutes for the week. No homework really. Sometimes discussion boards. Weekly quizzes then a exam every 3-4 chapters multiple choice and not proctored. Great professor. Responds to emails quick. The book is honestly not necessary but helps.
