The class is challenging, but Professor Noring makes it manageable. Doing lots of practice problems is key. Attend lecture and use resources like the SI sessions and unstuckstudy ai - they really help consolidate the material. Overall, a tough but rewarding course.

If you can avoid this professor, do so. I do not understand how he even has a 3.8 on here, his lectures are deathly boring and goes on tangents all class. The homework is absurd and it takes him 3 weeks to grade the tests.

This course isn't too difficult with a solid algebra foundation, but Professor Noring is a poor lecturer. He frequently goes on irrelevant engineering tangents, disregarding non-engineering students. He also lacks a clear teaching plan— seemingly choosing problems and subtopics randomly. Don't count on getting an email response from him either!

He's very passionate about the subject. But because calculus stuck to him so easy, he has a difficult time understanding that others don't collect information like he does. He's kind, but he's math-brained and thinks everyone be like that. ALEKS teaches you more than he does with an overload of homework and half won't prepare you for the tests.

Professor Noring is by far one of my worst professors I have had. Here are a few things that make him so: Not accessible outside of class, goes off topic in lectures, and calls students blatantly stupid. He believes everyone should understand calculus already and pushes the importance of the subject without teaching it.

The class was tough with tons of tests and a big final but I liked it. The teacher pushed us when we messed up which helped even if it felt harsh. He gave practice tests so we knew what to study, and the homework was hard but rewarding. He focused on the "why" instead of just the "what". I know many hated it cause he didn't spoon feed everything.

Dr. Noring's class is definitely challenging. He expects students to quickly grasp new material and often goes off-topic, which can make it difficult to stay on track. The class is very self-learning and demands a lot of independent study.

I have mixed feelings about him. He cares a lot and gives you everything you need for success. 8 tests, memorization parts (formulas). the amount of homework is insane, especially at the start and he goes on a rant about the education system in almost every class. Overall it was a lot of work and a bit frustrating but I did learn.

Noring should take a public speaking course. He is a bright guy, but has subpar communication skills and an inability to break down complex problems. "Cluttered" is the word I would use to describe his teaching style. It felt like Noring spent more time choosing his syllabus font or making his template exams look pretty than planning each class.

Likes to yap about things that are not on topic; almost all learning must be done outside of class. Attendance is mandatory, and if you miss 5 classes, you automatically get a C or lower. He seems like a nice guy, but he is an awful teacher. He reads straight from the book but then talks about how much he hates the book. Overall, bad experience.

He frequently goes on tangents and I can understand why others may not like him but I think he's a good professor. He doesn't just teach you how to solve a problem, he puts emphasis on the importance of actually understanding the content. There definitely is a lot of homework, but exposure to a variety of problems is important.

His teaching style is specific, he may seem off topic but he relates it back to the problem later, so he's not for you if you're easily distracted. He's an engineer teaching so future engineers can succeed, often relating things to engineering, which usually isn't helpful for non-engineers, but he is fantastic. I highly recommend Dr. Noring.

Professor Noring is easily the best math professor I've ever had. He makes Calc 3 easy and will help you if you need it. His tests have a memorization section where you can write your formulas, and he posts practice exams with answers. USE THESE! Do 60% of the homework and you get extra credit. Easy A, I wish I had studied more.

I will be straightforward, he assigns A LOT of homework on Achieve and requires you to complete 60% of the current units before every exam. A big plus is he posts exam templates on D2L and they are almost identical to the actual test. He assigns 8 tests for the semester (1 about every 2 weeks). He likes to go on rants a lot too.

Professor Noring is a good professor. For Calc 1 there are 8 exams and a final that together are 90% of the grade. He gives you practice exams that are the same as the real exam, just a little different. If you put the work in, you will do well in this class. There is lots of extra credit that isn't too hard.

The professor is accurate most of the time. His style is education through repetition. But the amount of homework is absurd, and the lectures are lacking.
