Great lecturer, funny professor. I've had him twice. You get a review sheet w/essay questions & short answer vocab 1 wk before. Don't waste time doing readings cuz he just repeats it in lecture. All test info comes from lecture.
he's knowledgeable, explains everything thoroughly, but doesn't treat you like a moron, and he's self-deprecating and open to swearing, which you've gotta love.
I have had Professor Pevehouse twice and will have him again. He is one of the best professors on campus. Very fair and very informative, you are missing out if you haven't studied with him!
An excellent lecturer and he keeps the hour and 15 minute lecture lively and entertaining. He makes the material relatable to the students and makes learning it fun. He's not afraid to throw in the occasional swear word to emphasize a point. As a freshman he has helped make the college transition easy.
He is so knowledgable and extremely witty!! I love the pictures of Beavis and Butthead that he includes in the lectures
He is awesome and really funny! I love the way I don't fall asleep during the lecture because it is somewhat entertaining.
Everyone has fun in a class taught by Pevehouse.
I love this man! He is definetly one of the best, most entertaining, and interesting profs i have ever had. He is an awesome lecturer. He speaks slow enough and very clearly. Throws in jokes and stories to keep attention. Repeats definitions so you can write them down. Tests were completely fair and easy. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
He was always open for discussion and help during and after hours. He allowed me to take an independent study which was my fondest class memory in college.
awesome professor, exams very fair, funny guy
best teacher i have ever had! handsome, kind, witty, and just plain intelligent. a great all-around guy. his wife is a lucky woman! He is so clear, and really wants to help students.
Wow. what a good professor; interesting, fun and tells cheesy-but-good jokes. WARNING: it is hard to get A's on the tests, although B's are definately doable. Also, huge lecture-very sweaty and uncomfortable...dress in layers.
Wow, he's a great professor. He really wants everyone to know and understand the material. Tests are not bad if you go to lecture, and he's pretty interesting during lecture. I would definetly take him again.
Take a class with this man. You will not regret it.
Funny and interesting but the tests were diffcult if you didn't go to class. Do not take for an easy A. ps the TAs for this course dont speak english.
One of the best professors I've had. Hilarious, down-to-earth, and really knows his stuff. He was completely objective and unbiased. My TA was horrific, but Pevehouse made up for him. I would definitely take one of his classes again!

Pevehouse. What a wonderful professor. Although I got not-such-a-wonderful grade in his class, it was one of my favorites. He is always trying to keep things interesting and likes to take a break from Poli Sci and tell jokes every once in a while. One great thing about his class is that you have the opportunity to fix your papers/exams. Just ask!!
I read about 20 pages total in this class and still got an A. The key is actually paying attention in lectures. And then sifting through before midterms and studying key concepts. He gives out a pretty good review sheet which helps figure out whats on the exams. No surprises there. Plus he's hilarious and the topic is interesting. My fav class so far
great in lectures, very helful out of class as well
This man rocks my socks off.
For non-poli sci majors this class isn't that easy. If you can't devote a decent amount of time studying for the exams and doing the readings, don't expect to get an A. Really depends on your TA though since they grade most of your essays.
He makes the class interesting, informational, and injects some humor into those power lectures. You can't go wrong.
fun prof, fairly easy class
Very Funny Teacher. Being a non-poli sci major he made this class easier with his jokes and unique teaching style. Easily one of the top professors on campus. If you do the readings and go to lecture and discussion, you should do fine. Your grade really is up to which TA you get though cause they grade everything. Amazing Teacher!
Great prof. Interesting to listen to, quite young, and rather funny. Explains material very clearly. Gives out study guides before exams to tell you which topics are potential ID's. The class is very easy for anyone who knows much about the world, whether history, geography, poli sci, current events, etc. Interesting intro course.
Pevehouse is awesome. He always tries to throw in some jokes and humor during class to make everyone laugh. I highly recommend going to lecture because that's where a lot of material from the test comes from. Also, go to section since the T.A. pretty much grades everything you do and they should know who you are. Pevehouse is awesome!
Awesome professor who makes lectures really fun. Just make sure you go to lectures since most of the test material comes from them.
Prof Pevehouse is by far my fave prof on campus. I actually wanted to go to lectures because they were so interesting. Reading the text and articles wasn't necessary. He makes it very clear what is will be on the tests, so they are easy to study for. He also has a nerdy hot thing going on, which was a plus. He also reads these reviews, fyi.
One of the best classes I have ever been in. The professor is the man. Go to lectures, take really good notes and there is no way you should get less than a B. Nothing surprising, just go to lectures and make sure you know all potential ID's that he gives you.
Hilarious, but still gets everything across.
GREAT PROFESSOR EVER! my favorite on campus, i took him freshmen year and still haven't had a better professor! go to class because that is where a lot of questions come from and read the book! he is very fair and his class rocks
Awesome professor. Laid back and fun, yet highly intelligent. He's super friendly and is a good source for all kinds of advice on grad school, research, jobs, etc. I wish I was an IS major after taking his class.
He is a great professor. Class is very interesting. GO TO CLASS. If you go to class and take good notes the tests aren't that bad. He gave us a pretty good idea of what to expect for each test. Great Class.
I love him!!
MY FAVORITE TEACHER EVER!!! He is absolutely hilarious AND passionate about his subject. He seems to know everything about IR and presents it in an interesting way. He prepares you well for the exams by giving out a list of terms to learn beforehand. Least painful power lecture ever because you laugh through half of it!
Love him! Really fun, and makes it interesting and relevant. The overhead notes he uses aren't very helpful, so you have to pay attention and take good notes. Awesome prof!
Great prof. The book is very close to his lectures, seeing as he wrote the book. Keeps things interesting and despite looking like a nerdy computer science TA, he is a very lively young prof.
Halarious guy and all around great lecturer. Lecture gets a little boring a couple of weeks before final- but all in all a great class. If you attend lecture you will do well
Too bad he's leaving Pevehouse was great. Should be president some day.
Ummmm, not all that remarkable of a professor. Perhaps this was just an off-semester. Lectures very dry, boring, simplistic. No energy.
The course was Problems in American Foreign Policy in 2004. It was fantastic. I just heard in the Poli Sci alumni magazine that he is coming back to the UW. He has a rare blend of humor and scholarship that is a pleasure to be in his courses.
I started looking for classes to take just because Pevehouse was the professor. I had him right before he left and was lucky enough to have him again once he came back. Very funny, he makes lectures easy to understand and gives good reviews for exams. Extremely helpful in office hours and he is very personable!
Pevehouse is AMAZING. Best professor I've had on campus-Seriously. I've never wanted to attend lecture so much in my life. Really entertaining, but also very clear and knowledgeable. Take a class with him if you can.
HES A GREAT. BEST MAN EVER. I Wish i could be him
Pevehouse is one of the best profs I've had. He really knows his stuff and presents interesting and funny lectures. Discussion sections are optional which makes for an easy, fun class. Definitely take a class with him!
AMAZING PROFESSOR!! By far the best and funniest professor I have had! Take a class with him if you can.
One of the best profs. I have ever had! Funny but super passionate about his field. Going to lecture was less of a task and more of a fun time!
This class has absolutely nothing to do with my major and I did not want to take it, but looking back now I would take it all over again. He is such a hilarious and genuinely nice professor. he makes power lectures interesting. absolutely loved the class and didn't mind going. def take this class with pevehouse, otherwise you're missing out!
He's phenomenal. You will love him! Absolutely hilarious. He's god.
Terrific. A funny, interesting, smart guy. The material is fairly general considering it's an intro course, but he's hysterical, and thus it's far more fun to learn. Do the readings. You are tested on exactly what they say, though he lectures are based around them as well. If you put a decent amount of effort into the course, you'll do just fine.
My favorite professor ever. He lectures well, is funny, and is extremely helpful.
Easily my favorite professor. The amount of knowledge this man has in his head is phenomenal. He is down to earth and clearly passionate about the subject. Rearrange your schedule for this guy! Simply legendary.
A truly amazing professor. He is interesting, knowledgeable, fair, and absolutely hilarious. I learned so much and actually had a strong desire to go to class! You would be lucky to have him as a professor.
He is one of the best professors I have ever had. He makes lecture really interesting and FUN! I would take all of his classes. His tests are somewhat challenging but if you do most of the readings and go to most of the lectures you will be fine. Seriously he is the best.
Extremely interesting class as he relates everything to modern events. Clear classes that are actually entertaining. One of the few classes I looked forward to going too.
Awesome. Best professor I've had, hands down. He knows so much, is incredibly helpful, and is funny. He is the reason I chose to be a Poli Sci major.
Pevehouse is a great guy and is incredibly brilliant. This guy really knows his stuff. However, I found International Relations to be extremely boring, and the tests were rather difficult.
Such an amazing professor. I had to work harder for the exams for this class than any of my other classes (even though it's 100 level) but at the end of the semester it was the only class I still wanted to go to. Pevehouse is funny, engaging, and intelligent. I feel like I've learned so many relevant things in his class, so worth it!
Awesome teacher and all-around fantastic human being! Make sure to attend lecture and take good notes. I really wouldn't recommend taking 103 unless you really love IR and PoliSci. For non-majors/indifferent people it can sometimes seem really dull and technical (which isn't Pevehouse's fault since it's true of any subject).
Knowledgable professor. Very funny man and makes class interesting. I looked forward to attending every lecture.
I like Poli Sci, so grain of salt and all that, but I thought his classes were really interesting and fun to go to. Discussion sections are optional, so if you're trying to fit it into your schedule keep that in mind.
Pevehouse is awesome! His lectures are hilarious and he can really relate to students. I thought his lectures were really interesting too and I loved the class. He makes the material even more interesting. Exams are very fair. I would DEFINITELY recommend this class, even if you're not a poli sci major.
Pevehouse is fantastic, and I never say that. Best professor I have had. Lectures are incredibly informative, entertaining, and COMPLETELY NECESSARY to succeed in the class. Go to the 2 pre-exam discussions - it's all on the exam. Exams are MC and short answer. This is one of those must-take professors. UW Madison should be proud to have him.
Pevehouse is a baller. I took his American Foreign Policy class, so taking his lobbying seminar was a no-brainer. It was literally just 20 students plus Pevehouse sitting around, shooting the**** and talking about politics. Great guy, awesome teacher, lets you do your own thing.
Simply the best professor at UW
The best professor. His jokes are the greatest and keep the class interesting. I learned a lot from him and enjoyed the class a lot.
Pevehouse = best professor. Ever. Your UW Madison experience is not complete until you have had him. Awesome professor and even better guy.
Great teacher, though I had a terrible TA. He really knows a lot about the field, gives Professor Suri a run for his money. I took the summer course, was pretty easy.
Pevehouse is a great professor. If you have to take PS103, take it with him. He is extremely helpful--he says exactly how the exam will be laid out and which readings/textbook chapters you should focus on. Plus, he is a very interesting lecturer and uses a lot of real-world examples to explain otherwise boring theories.
Pevehouse is simply one of the best professors at Madison. His lectures are very interesting and the way he explains things gives you a new outlook on world events. I highly recommend his course. Its a fairly easy 4 credit class. The only homework is reading and the exams are very straightforward.
Prof. Pevehouse is awesome. Even though the power lecture took forever, he provided plenty of entertainment and was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about international relations. He's extremely passionate and it clearly shows. Tests are difficult but very fair. He's the man!
Pevehouse is a great professor. His lectures are long so he tries to make them interesting. If you have no interest in politics this class is hard regardless, but Pevehouse does a great job
Take this class if you like history. Pretty interesting and easy to fallow. Pevehouse is an awesome guy.Tests are pretty straightforward with multiple choice and short answer questions. A must take class!
Pevehouse is the man but this class shouldn't be taken as an elective. It's kinda tough. I think a lot of people take 103 cause hes awesome but there's other awesome teachers who teach easy classes...
Great professor, discussion sections are optional once a week, however your TA's grade your short answer and essays so it pays off to go every week. Overall great class, lot of work to get an A, easy to get an A/B or a B with not too much effort.
I want to be him. He is the man. He is incredibly intelligent and witty as well. His power lectures barely ever drag. The tests are a tad difficult. Very hard to get an A in my opinion. Pretty easy B, even without reading any of the book. Discussions are not mandatory, but I suggest going. They help! I would definitely take another class with him!
By far the best professor I've had here. Hilarious and engaging; Pevehouse is a baller fo sho. It's a very interesting class, although the exams are hard to ace. You can't go to Madison without taking a class with this guy.
Professor Pevehouse was one of my favorite professors of the semester. He was extremely knowledgable and the power lectures went by very quickly. He co-authored the textbook so reading it definitely helps clear up any questions from lecture. Exams are relatively easy and most of the info is obvious. Go to section and its impossible not to do well.
One of the best professors I've had so far at UW! Although the lectures tend to drag a little, it is still a really interesting class and you learn a lot, especially with current events. Plus he makes the class fun, he is hysterical and always can relate stuff back to present day. I would without a doubt take another class with him. Loved the class
The nicest, coolest, funniest professor! He makes lecture interesting by throwing in hilarious slides and makes current pop culture jokes. His exams are extremely fair in that if he didn't talk or mention it, it won't be on there. Best professor, highly recommend. Not a hard class either.
Fantastic Professor. Not an easy A, but an easy AB for sure. Very interesting to listen to and the tests are based entirely off of the lecture. The book is great for reference but I found no need to use it. Just attend lecture, take notes, and study some before tests.
Interesting lecturer and has a great sense of humor. Not the absolute easiest class for a 100 level but definitely a B. thoroughly enjoyed him
He is the best professor/teacher I have ever had. He's hilarious, extremely intelligent, and can make even boring topics interesting. I honestly think he's cooler than me.
He makes the lectures extremely interesting and fun, but the tests are quite difficult! I wouldn't highly recommend this class for those not interested in political science.
Pevehouse is a very funny and engaging professor. I really enjoyed going to this class because it was almost always interesting, mainly because Pevehouse made it interesting. The tests for this class are not easy though. It is easy to get a B in this class, but very hard to get an A, unless you study very hard.
Very cool guy. Absolutely hilarious. He really knows what hes talking about and explains it in extreme clarity. He wrote the text book, so he obviously knows the course material in depth. He gives plenty of real world examples which helps me a lot. Definitely have to put in study time though.
Take this class if you enjoy feeling like a failure after his exams. The testing is mainly multiple choice and his TA's are some of thee worst graders ever. Funny guy, yes. That's about it...
He is very funny and cute. A smart person and it was an interesting class.
Brilliant and beautiful. Best prof I've ever had at UW.
Fantastic Professor. Best prof I have had at UW. He is funny, energetic, and personable. He makes the class extremely interesting and is very clear in lecture. The midterms were of average difficulty. If you go to lecture and know the bolded terms in the book you should be fine.
He is very funny and therefore good at making issues discussed in class more interesting. He is very knowledgeable and helpful. The class was easy, but only if you go to class. He had a good balance between historical and contemporary issues. I would recommend this course to non-poli sci majors as well.
Let me put it this way... he cancelled lecture for this Thursday and I was bummed. He presents the material in a way that makes it impossible to forget. He's a riot. Just take the class. You won't regret it.
Pevehouse is a hard grader but he's the best professor I've had. Absolutely hilarious and brilliant, and definitely should be any PhD student's role model in terms of how to lecture. Wrote the textbook for the class so he connects it very well, and is just a great guy. The kind of guy I'd sit down, have a beer, and talk about int'l politics with.
Pevehouse is the best professor I have had at UW. He is very clear and very helpful, not to mention how funny he is. Will definitely take another class with him before I graduate even if the subject wasn't that interesting, that's how much of a great professor he is.
This is a very simple class taught by a very smart man. He explains things very clearly, and he throws in humor and topical references. You don't need to read the textbook, just study the bold terms. 2 midterms, 1 final. Not hard to get a good grade. Pevehouse is a genuinely nice guy, and a very good professor.
I am genuinely excited to go to his lectures, he makes the topic of international relations very interesting and current. He is a professor that knows A LOT about the topic. There are only three grades in the class, two midterms and a final. The tests aren't that hard, but I did study a lot for them. I highly recommend taking this class with him.
Great teacher, great class. Tests aren't too bad, but I would highly recommend reading the text before class cause it will make the lectures a little easier to understand. Overall, Pevehouse is a great teacher and he is hilarious as well! TAs grade all the tests so I guess the grading depends on your TA, pretty hit or miss from what i hear.
Hilarious guy and the class is completely doable if you try. You do need lecture and the text for the tests, but lectures are fun to go to with this guy. He's well informed and his subject is very interesting, I would recommend even for an elective.
A funny guy who really knows his stuff. The class was all tests and he didn't put anything on them that he didn't explicitly cover in class or was in the textbook (which he wrote). Overall a good professor who I learned a lot from.
Literally one of the best. He's an amazing lecturer and is capable of making boring topics interesting. International Relations is a broad subject but I definitely left the class having a strong general knowledge of the subject. He's hilarious and so knowledgable without coming off as pompous and arrogant. Must take before you graduate!
Pevehouse is a very enjoyable professor, his lectures are funny and the material is taught in a clear and concise way. Though there is some writing on the tests, the multiple choice questions are easy to understand and answer if you paid attention in lecture.
I loved Jon. He's super funny and makes an already interesting topic even more interesting. His class is what finally made me decide to major in PS. The midterms are easy; they're normally around 35 MC and 5 IDs. The textbook quizzes are really good preparation for his exams; his questions are actually a bit easier.
Prof. Pevehouse is an excellent lecturer. He answers every question thoughtfully, offers multiple possible explanations and perspectives of different issues, and does a great job of clarifying concepts. He is also very unbiased--he never brought up his personal politics. I highly reccommend his classes!
Powered by Dr. Pepper, Pevehouse never failed to make lecture a solid 75 minutes of pure enjoyment. Will definitely miss his class and his down-to-earth demeanor, despite being one of the smartest people I have ever encountered.
Prof Pevehouse is a great lecturer. The course itself is a bit broad in topics, but that is expected with an intro level course. The tests are very writing heavy. Pevehouse is funny and makes the material interesting.
One of the most interesting classes I've taken at UW-Madison. The class was online due to coronavirus but professor Pevehouse still made it very engaging which was very cool. The class itself was pretty easy, as long as you turn stuff in you'll get a good grade.
Super interesting lectures, very smart and kind, just assigned A TON of readings.
Prof. Pevehouse is great! His lectures are super interesting and engaging, and he's clearly very knowledgable about the subject matter. There is a lot of reading, so be prepared for that and be sure to set aside big chunks of time.
Pevehouse has easily been my favorite professor at UW. I always looked forward to his lectures, which were on interesting, real-world issues. Him and his TAs were very clear on grading criteria. You had 5 knowledge-check quizzes thru the semester, with the course culminating in a big final paper but you have lots of time and assistance if needed.
Professor Pevehouse is a gem. Foreign policy isn't my favorite subj but he is funny, kind, and made lectures engaging. Always willing to help if you ask for it. Only discussion sections mandatory. Research paper 35% of grade, final exam is 20% with two essays that are cumulative but if you attended most of the lectures/took notes you'll be fine.
Very knowledgeable and personable, I enjoyed how he presented his lectures. However, I would not recommend taking this class if you have no international relations background. I had never taken a PoliSci or IR class before and was really lost a lot of the time, he definitely expects his students to have former theoretical and historical knowledge.
Prof. Pevehouse is an incredible lecturer- he keeps things interesting and never fails to get a laugh. I genuinely looked forward to classes, readings, and discussions. Make sure you get started on that final paper early!
Pevehouse had me actually looking forward to morning lectures! He's funny and makes the content engaging. The class is graded on a couple 5 question check-in quizzes, a final exam (writing), and a big research paper (get started on that one early). Definitely recommend the class for anyone interested in foreign policy.
slay the house boots down. ily peve bae. what a king, if you love dilfs and goofballs he is the man for you! i wish he wasn't married :(
how does he have super hearing? he can hear a shawty all the way in the back of the class whispering... he can probably hear my conversations.... TBH love this class. Peve is an ally. #LGBTQ he is amazing. Everyone take this bc he is king! and v passionate
Love the guy. He makes lectures really interesting and never fails to get a laugh. Class is not difficult at all and the exams are super easy if you study.
Pevehouse makes lectures super entertaining, he is funny and explains concepts well. Only complaint is half the notes were just questions with no answers and no pictures, so looking back at them is useless. 3 quizzes and 2 other assignments are small part of grade, the rest for 3 exams. Tests were very reasonable, reading helps a lot.
I loved Pevehouse. He makes his lectures really interesting and the grading criteria is really clear. He's funny and the class is really relevant to current events. 10/10 recommend.
Pevehouse is awesome. His lectures are informative but genuinely funny and entertaining. He works hard to apply class content to current events to keep you informed. He also cares about student success and grades fairly (eg. cutting test questions missed by a lot of the class). Learned tons from his class, he's a great professor, would recommend.
Solid prof, imo lectures aren't quite as entertaining as many reviews say, but they're clear and informative. Wouldn't recommend for people without any IR interest (if you just want soc sci credit, better options exist), but good course if you're interested. Honors-optional is a lot of extra work (5 papers totaling 15-20 pages for the semester)
This class is pretty boring but Pevehouse is really good. Lots of freshman in huge lecture who laugh when he swears. But attendance isn't necessary bc all notes are posted on canvas. Overall very standard 100 level poli sci w cool professor.
engaging lectures but attendance is not mandatory. I would recommend going and doing the readings. He cares about his students. All the assignments and tests were straightforward and related to the lectures and readings.
Jon Pevehouse is the goat. Amazing lecturer and is hilarious. All of the information on tests comes from the lecture slides he provides. All around great professor
You can tell Pevehouse really cares about the material and the class. He is always excited to teach, and talk about the day's subject. You do have to read the textbook, though, as his slides are quite lacking and he goes fast.
Super engaging lecturer. His TA's were great too in discussion section. Tests are straightforward and it is interesting material
I don't even like poli sci but Jon made me want to show up to every lecture. Not many assignments and I feel like they were all graded pretty easily.
Jon Pevehouse is an amazing lecturer and engages with the students. He is attentive if you ask questions during or after class. His lecture slides are very informative and funny at the same time. Would recommend to anyone remotely interested in political science.
His lectures were pretty boring. There are 2 midterms and a final with a couple writing assignments that aren't bad. It's easy to get a good grade but his notes weren't very helpful and he was very hard to hear during lecture.
The textbook he uses (written by him) is one of the driest, incoherent, needlessly complicated book I've ever read. It's not even because the content was hard, the definitions inside are just so vague with awkward phrasing. No lecture recordings so your best chance of doing good is to read that dang book. Feel free to choose this course and suffer.
Class was easy, lectures weren't mandatory but discussions were. Professor Pevehouse is funny and engaging and seems to care about his students. Coursework was simple and easy if you paid attention. He wrote the book so most of the (optional) reading quizzes were used as exam questions.
too be honest he is kind of hard to understand. the lecture slides are kind of confusing, but if you go into office hours he will break down the ideas for you. not a terribly difficult course, but I definitely had to really apply myself in order to do well.
I think most of the reviews on here are a little generous. He's a nice guy, but lectures are really lacking. Hard to hear in class and not too much content on the slides, but they are posted online. You'll be fine if you keep up with readings and visit him during office hours. But there's always lots of people there sucking up. Study for tests.
Pretty standard poli sci intro class. Easy concepts and very similar to international studies 101. Three exams, three open-note quizzes, and two very short (1 page) essays. Readings are super helpful and lecture notes are posted online.
Professor Pevehouse was very knowledgable and gave great lectures, which followed along with the textbook readings. Very few assignments outside of 3 short quizzes and two news analyses.
Pevehouse is a great teacher. He knows his stuff, and the fact that he writes the textbook is helpful, because it reaffirms what you've learned in lecture. A few open-note easy quizzes, discussion attendance matters (lecture doesn't), 2 "news analyses," 2 midterms, and 1 final. Honors optional for this class was 4 extra papers pass/fail.
Super engaging lectures, and very funny. Loved this class.
Took International Relations first semester of my freshman year and loved it. It wasn't a cakewalk, but Prof. Pevehouse was interesting and approachable and made it so students actually wanted to learn and do well in the class. If you pay attention in lectures and study the slides (notes) and put in a little extra studying, you will be fine!
literally the best
Engaging lectures, though at times hard to follow. Leverage Unstuck study and course materials to excel. Manageable workload, just stay on top of readings and exams.
Professor Pevehouse was fantastic! If you pay attention in class and read the textbook/make sure you know key vocab before the exams, this class shouldn't be difficult at all. He was also super accessible outside class, this was probably the best class I took freshman year-- super easy intro-level course
The best lecturer Ive had at UW Madison, hes so funny and keeps my attention. The tests are mainly terms and then theres a few papers and easy quizzes, if you study and read the textbook you should do well.
Would 100% take his classes again. Every lecture is engaging and well organized. He is very good about informing students of deadlines and understanding how unforeseen events (such as canvas shutting down) may disrupt the course calendar.
Pevehouse is a class act. He is so clearly passionate about his teaching subject. Even though lecture is optional, his class will always be full, even on cold november days where you could so easily skip. His class is graded by few assignments, but as long as you do the textbook readings and study for the midterms you will be a-okay!
Amazing professor, his explanations are great and his lectures are super engaging. Exams are not difficult as long as you attend class and do the readings.
He was very funny and lectures were very engaging, the tests are weighted pretty heavy but discussions and study guides they give will prepare you well if you put in the time. He is the author of our textbook so he is very knowledgeable. I would love to take more of his classes.
Professor Pevehouse is the coolest teacher I've had so far. His lectures are genuinely engaging and you can tell he genuinely cares about his students. My TA for this class was also a really cool guy which makes the one of the best classes I've taken here at Madison. I would 100% recommend this class and Professor Pevehouse!
Genuinely such an funny and knowledgable guy. Amazing lecturer and super clear about all grading criteria. Midterms were not too difficult, just study the material. TAs were also great.
This class was so amazing, I wish it wasn't over. Pevehouse is so funny, accessible, and engaging in his lectures, and I was always excited to go. Even though attendance was required, I never skipped a class, and I even went to office hours a couple of times. The TAs from what I've experienced are vetted and amazing as well! This is a must take.
Genuinely one of my favorite classes because lectures were so entertaining. Good beginner polisci class - if you pay attention during lecture and do the assignments you're golden. Textbook readings are extremely helpful, but not entirely necessary.
