He's really lenient. Attendance is required the first 2 or 3 classes but then he doesn't check. He offers A LOT of extra Credit and tells you what's going to be on Midterms and Exams. Really nice guy too.
The teacher is really hard regarding grading. Some of his reasoning behind grading are not great. I'm a A student, but have a B/C in his class because of his homework grading. If you have a hard time with math, don't take him.
He is a great professor, he is very hard in his grading. Throughout the semseter he gives you opportunities to do extra credit which helps homework grade. If you have a hard time in math I would not recommend taking this professor, if you are hes great!
good professor. EXTREMELY anal in grading. grades hw like if it was an exam. EXTREMELY meticulous on exam grading. VERY tough grader. take his class only if you know MATH. got a B.
He gives out extra credit which really helps!
OK, let me just say that some of these comments are absurd. This is by far the best professor I've ever had. He makes complex problems very easy to understand and every test question is 100% expected (no surprises). For all who said he is not a professor to take if math is hard, maybe you should return to elementary, it doesnt get any better!
I had Ulrich for Brief Calc. It was by far my hardest class that semester. If you are good at math then you would do fine in his class. I usually struggle with math and Ulrich was not a good teacher for me because of his teaching style.
Ulrich is one of the best math teachers I've ever had. Yes, he grades meticulously, but every question on tests can be anticipated and studied for. He was ALWAYS available for help outside of class and offered many chances to excel with extra credit. He makes math class fun too, which is a feat in and of itself.
Not helpful. Very pick grader especially with the homework.
he is an engineer so he is smart but he isnt the greatest teacher. however he does offer tons of extra credit which helps a lot. his tests are long and difficult, but there were no surprises
Extremely picky grader
Tough grader, lengthly tests, but does offer extra credit. Teaching style geared toward math/engineer majors
He is a tough grader but he gives every opportunity to get an A. He gives a ton of extra credit and always cheat sheets. He is makes it easy but still teaches you. He's by far one of the better math teachers at ASU that i have encountered.
Yes, Ulrich is tough on homework, but he practically gives you the quizzes before you take them, gives you cheat sheets, gives you bonus points, gives extra credit, is happy to help. And bonus, I thought he was hilarious. I hate math, but his version of calc made sense and I aced all the tests and quizzes.
I loved Professor Ulrich. He is a picky grader but he gives so much extra credit. Just do the extra credit and try and you will get an A. Trust me! He is such a funny guy and very smart. I would recommend him to anyone.
Not clear with what he wants on tests, Extremely Harsh; bordering on offensive with grading. Computer and Engineering majors ace the tests; the rest of us have no idea where he's coming from. Seems smart but, makes you feel stupid= not smart teaching.
If someone is teaching the class, take them. Get's angry and make's fun of you if you don"t know the answer or get it wrong.
Dr. Ulrich is the single best Math teacher I have ever encountered. Not only does he have great methods of pounding info into your brain, but he makes it fun!! The discussions in his class are always beneficial for everyone. I studied 4-5 hours a week and got an A in Brief Calc. Study hard, take good notes and you will get a good grade! TAKE ULRICH
I actually took this class twice because i didnt put any effort into it and didnt go see the teacher at all the first time. Ulrich is a really nice guy and will help you but you need to let him know you need help. The second time around I went to his office hours a lot and did worlds of better in the course.
A nice professor. Very helpful. Tons of extra credits. If you know Brief Calculus, you can easy get an A.
He is great to listen to in class. He applies what he is treaching to the real world, which helps alot. Do the extra credit, always, and work hard on the homework and you will do fine. Sometimes he is a little unclear.
I did this course in an online forum and learned a lot and although the course had been recently created, he provided great notes each week and applicable assignments to the material. He gives lots of extra credit and if you fail it is your fault for not participating. He is witty and has a bit of a sarcasm about him, but is very knowledgeable.
I found this to be a challenging class until I emailed the teacher for help. He is EXTREMELY HELLPFUL! He has good notes and makes it as easy to learn as possible. He even helped on exams and the final- he didn't give me the answers but told me if I got it right or needed to work on a certain area.
Great professor! He responds to emails and knows when student don't understand and reteaches it . He grades extremely fair!
He acted rude whenever anyone emailed him...I don't know if it was because it was summer. He took a week off of our online class to sleep so we were behind yet still had to do the final. Luckily he is nice enough to give extra credit so when he does DO IT.
Ulrich is awesome! He is ridiculously helpful. He always gives extra credit. He applies the math to the real world. Homework is relevant and tests are pretty to the point. Take him!
This class is weird, but it is tons easier than other stat classes I have seen. Way easier than others. He is kind of short-tempered and even kind of rude sometimes, but it might just be his writing style since all comm. are electronic. His grading was fair until the final group project option. I would suggest the final exam instead.
I pay good money to learn something, not hear his political rants. had to wait over 30 days for him to grade exams. told us if we wanted to pass his class, to do the final project, not the test. I wonder why this man is a teacher if he hates it so much.
Ok job explaining material until he references the wrong section or something that hasn’t been covered yet. Sometimes things were so messed up he’d come up with a new revision mid-week. Grades are slow. The last exam was due Dec 16th and I’ve yet to receive a grade on my exam due in mid Oct. Take this class if you have a lot of patience.
I am taking his online class- Avoid it at any cost! He makes things much harder than what they need to be, is completely unorganized and hardly uses blackboard. He required our card information on a shady domain(I believe he owns it) and we basically bought our homework. He likes to change things mid-flight too. Im amazed that he has this job.
Easy teacher. Talks about stupid stuff all class. Only got twenty minutes of lecture due to this. Gave extra credit almost every class. I had over 100% in the class. Would not want to waste my time again.
The class isn't terrible and not too difficult as long as you are good at using computers. All work is basically done in Excel. He can be very rude so don't get on his bad side. He got mad at me once for not calling him "Dr." Ulrich. There is no tbook instead we had to sign up and pay for some random website to download our notes and homework.
It's "business calc" but all the stuff we learned was like 11th grade pre-calculus. Assignments are done in Excel, so if you know how to use it, the class is a total breeze. Notes cover homework examples really well, and the quizzes/tests are just modified homework questions. Weekly assingments were kind of tedious but it got lax after Spring Break
Took the internet hybrid and we only met on Wednesday nights which was nice. As far as STP 420 goes I recommend him. He is horrible getting grades back, but gives you a lot of extra credit opportunity which you need to take. The final project is the key you just have to make sure to get a good team and talk to him about it!
Prof Ulrich does a great job making the class very clear and structured, however we only ended up covering half the material initially in the syllabus. Had I received a lower grade, I probably would have protested this but I ended the semester satisfied. Learned a lot about Excel too which was surprisingly helpful in life.
Professor Ulrich did an excellent job making a daunting subject less intimidating. It became apparent to me early on in the semester that if I took the time to do exactly as Professor Ulrich instructed I would pass. Professor Ulrich clearly defined his expectations. All I needed to do was follow instruction and put forth the effort.
He is okay as a lecturer, but a horrible grader, and useless in office hours
Statistics is a diffucult subject but Dr. Ulrich simplifies it by teaching only what is needed. He seems hard at first but do as he says and you'll do great. He is impatient if you ask a question he already covered so take notes. He is very helpful during office hours. Choose the project instead of the final.
I stink at math and Professor Ulrich was the only way I'd ever pass this class. His instructional videos did more for me than any other face to face class I have taken-ever. He's humorous in a math genius way which is cool. Highly recommended.
I was forced to retake this class as a transfer student but when i took this class he was wayyyyy better than my previous math teachers and actually grades you reasonably.
Great Professor! He does an excellent job of explaining concepts. He has high expectations concerning algebra skills, so if you stink at it, brush up on it before taking his class (mostly fractions within fractions and simplifying). Make sure to follow his instructions to a T. He gives LOTS of extra credit and I highly doing ALL of it!
This man obviously hates teaching. VERY disorganized, accuses you of cheating when you didn't, is completely not helpful when you ask for help on homework. Incredibly arrogant and talks down to you. Doesn't grade anything until the last minute and then grades things inaccurately in the middle of the night and makes tons of mistakes. DON'T TAKE HIM!
Extremely easy material, but his goal doesn't seem to be for you to learn the material. He LITERALLY just wants you to copy and paste from his lesson notes, points off if otherwise. Scoffs at questions asked in class. Frequently uses the phrase "you're not smart enough." You have to pay to access your homework on his personal website. Avoid.
The overall outline of this course is extremely confusing. As for Dr Ulrich, he is hands down the most condescending professor I've had. Don't think about asking him questions. He will talk down to you, and try and make you feel dumb for asking. Avoid this class at all costs.
Awful professor!!! He does not give directions on most of his online homeworks and expects you to figure it out. He says that you can email him with questions but his feedback is completely unhelpful and he is a jerk to most of his students that email him. Don't take his class!!
Dr. Ulrich is rude and makes you feel bad for asking questions. He is very particular and will take off a LOT of points for formatting (even if you're right). He wastes an hour out of class time talking about irrelevant nonsense. Some people love him because they say his class is easy, but I found him annoying and learned nothing from his class.
DO NOT TAKE ULRICH ONLINE! He uses a poorly constructed website you need to pay $50 for in order to see his poorly explained videos that could have easily been in Blackboard for free. He seems to care little about his teaching and is almost impossible to follow along. The learning videos are incredibly confusing and the class is disorganized
If you need to take MAT 211, definitely take it online with Ulrich. Exams are not proctored and entirely on Excel. Everything is pretty easy, but course is fairly time consuming. Lots of ex cred. Has us use his own videos and notes rather than the book but costs $50 to access. Best math course I've taken so far at ASU... Got an A. No A+ offered :(
This class should be super easy by the complicates it, is extremely condescending and unhelpful, is bad at his online lecture videos, doesn't understand or care about different programs on different computers, and overall isn't a good teacher. Take it with someone else and actually learn what you need to know for future courses
The class is not too difficult as long as you do all the assignments, you should get a good grade, though the assignments are done through excel so its easy to lose points on the homework here or there. The teacher gives out lots of extra credit as well and is really willing to help with any questions.
Guy has character. Skip if you don't understand math very well.
He is a great professor. If you do the work, PARTICIPATE and attend class, he notices and you will do well. Do the extra credit - he gives lots of it and it shows that you care. He drills principles in your head and is very funny. He strays a little bit in class and is a tough grader but well worth it. I would highly recommend this class.
If you are scared of math, take this class. He will help you out if you show him you are trying your best. When you email him, be specific about what you're confused about. Email him ahead of time before due dates for assignments; he tends to be grumpy if you procrastinate. Download all his documents, watch the videos, and go to class! Grade A+
Avoid this professor if you can!! Though a lot of extra credit assignments are given, it won't matter at all. You won't get the credit you deserve, I promise you. What is more important to this professor is how the assignments are labeled, not what is in them or how hard you work. If they are not labeled correctly, you WILL receive a zero whether you have the right answers or not!!! Trust me when I say, this professor is not worth your time! He may state he is there and will offer help, but he won't get back to you in time and you won't get the help you need.
Dr. Ulrich is awesome. He is definitely quirky though. He is big on the organization of assignments but once you get the first one back you know what he expects. His test problems are tough but you can ask him anything and he'll answer and push you towards the answer, plus he allows cheat sheets. If you fail with him, it's your own fault.
This teacher does not grade assignments in a timely manor and seems to care more about how many decimal places you have rather than whether or not you did anything correct. I think if I was taking a class on excell or a spreadsheet he would be perfect. I think students who say they passed probably didn't learn anything.
He is unreasonable. He always seems to care more about how people salute him and how the files are named for uploading while ignores all the hard work you have done.
Dr. Ulrich's Applied Linear Algebra course was an easy A which I was not expecting. He is very strict, but his expectations are made clear in his 20 page Policy & Procedures PDF. The course was fairly easy and based around MS Excel instead of MatLab. He gave three exams and plenty of extra credit. Definitely a strange fellow, but very helpful.
Easiest A ever.
I came into the semester hating his strict rules, but I actually ended up not minding the course so much. He emails you back pretty quickly. Mr. Ulrich is a strange man... easy A though.
Instructor speaks to class as though every one should have taken calculus prior. I had to wait until the end of the semester when he finally posted a majority of points from his "Bonus Land"(Extra Credit). Overall a fairly easy class. Read the Handouts he posts and take notes. Do your homework and turn in on time.
Dr. Ulrich is good professor. He gives all the homework and exam assignments by Microsoft excel. Quizzes are assigns by Microsoft word. Mostly quizzes were confused. He given out some extra credit assignments. First, he cares about Homework assignments are right or wrong, later he don't cares about right or wrong. He can help by email too.
Dr. Ulrich was a great instructor. The material he uses is relevant and usable in the real world. I took this class over the summer, and as long as you pay attention to the small details you should have no problem passing the class with an A. On that note, do your work as soon as possible and ask questions if you don't understand.
Would not recommend. Loosely instructed, the entire class was based off a poorly organized website, I actually wish the class had used MyMathLab. There were no lectures just some difficult to follow notes and worksheets. Conveniently this is also how I learned that classes are standardized by campus, not university wide. Probably great for ENG
This professor is a complete joke. He is a sarcastic ass on a power trip. He needs to get his head out of his butt and realize that he isn't king. He doesn't explain the work, which is all on a spreadsheet (making no sense whatsoever.) He does not clarify what he really wants. 0/10 do not recommend.
Avoid taking this professor. He has been the worst I have had. He took easy math and made it into an impossible task full of technicalities that made no sense whatsoever. You don't get a look at your grade until the end of the semester which is plain dumb. Too sarcastic. A bunch of "bonusland". Not helpful at all. Emails are sarcastic and rude.
Horrible professor. You will spend much more time trying to please his technical expectations than you will learning the actual material. If you can avoid this professor all together I would 100% recommend it. Take a professor who actually cares about your work rather than how a cell is formatted.
Professor Ulrich is strange but his class is straightforward. He has instructional videos that you can follow for homework. Quizzes are just questions based on weekly PDF readings. Plus, his extra credit is nice. The math in the class is extremely easy, it should be more of a "how-to" class for excel. Just make sure you do assignments carefully!
I learned more in every single math class I had taken prior. The material was not hard, but the way he grades is is often ridiculous. He is very precise on how he wants something to be, else expect 50% off. Additionally he tries to influence the way you do things, so if you want/need to do an assignment the day before it won't even be available.
He did his own thing, slowed down if the class needed clarification, even at times went too slow. So much extra credit! Beware he does like homework written in a specific way but after one assignment, you'll know what he expects. Just do what he says and you should be just fine. He even checks your exams before you turn them in which is nice.
Great professor, if you make the effort in the class to do well, or even seek his help, he will help you. He's a bit picky with notation but once you do one assignment and see what he wants, it should be fine. Just go in, pay attention, following his instructions and you should leave with a good grade. Oh and he gives a ton of extra credit.
He is a stickler for rules, and yet he is extremely hypocritical as his rules do not apply to himself. He allots extra time for himself to grade assignments, but does not adhere to technical issues that arise with online classes. He MAY or MAY NOT take down hw/quizzes a day prior to the due date as stated in his 100 pg terms and conditions.
He is super strict about how you format everything. Be extremely careful about what you type and do. Send him EVERYTHING you can, he gives you great feedback until you get each assignment perfect. Without his help the class is very difficult, with it you can get an A easily. Get a headstart on all assignments and DO the extra credit! (5% total)
Ulrich is the man. Had him for MAT343 and STP420-both online. He responds to emails WICKED fast and gives clear feedback about what needs to be to get a good grade. He can be strict so make sure you follow what he says EXACTLY and you'll get an A.
I took this course because it was in my degree, he is hands down the worst professor I have ever had at ASU. I spent hours doing his homework and quizzes, that make no sense. When emailing him asking for help all he does is say "that is wrong, start all over". When asking for him to direct you in the right direction he will not help at all.
This guy's workbook is a joke, prepare to lose most of your graded points to ambiguous quiz questions that have little clarification in the actual lesson. Thumbs down
Average professor who was quite snarky when you asked for anything on the email.
Dr. Ulrich is a difficult person and by far had the worst personality out my professors so far. He has an ego and is irritatingly condescending, he's the kind of man who quotes himself in his email signature. He was however very quick in responding to questions via email (if you formatted your email properly). I do think he wanted to help out.
DON'T take this professor for this online course. His notes are so incredibly confusing that even someone who understands the math concepts will be confused. Further, if you try to email him to clarify his very confusing instructions you will often be sent a reply that is equally as confusing or he'll just imply that you aren't working hard enough
He claims to not have time to give feedback on homework and assignments, yet he has the time to meticulously grade your work giving zeros for the entire documents should any of the formatting not match what he wants. Watch his videos and do the work and you MIGHT learn something, he shows you how to do the work.
He show's you what to do on every homework assignment through his online videos. Plus you can send him the homework and even exams to check before you submit, even at 2 am. Some people don't like how he grades but he does give you all the tools to get a good grade. Lots of extra credit too.
It's tempting to take this guy's online courses, but don't. The material he covers is about half of what a normal linear algebra course should go through. He has an irritating personality and often takes points off without telling you why. Uses excel for everything even though the course says you're learning MatLAB. Easy A and still not worth it.
Awful professor. arrogant personality. You will struggle and he will make zero effort to help you. He's rude and extremely condescending. He makes this course 10 times harder than it needs to be. Easily the worst professor at ASU.
Overly particular about everything. Uses excel for all assignments and grades on how well you use excel over if you seemed to have learned anything. Is constantly rude to students and acts as if we are not worthy of his time. Avoid him if you actually want to learn the subject you're taking.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!! Throughout the semester I emailed the instructor back and fourth concerning grades and extra credit assignments. My grade would fluctuate from a "B" to an "A" as the semester passed. I would check my grades constantly but when it came time to submit the grades, he gave me a "D".
He decided to just stop teaching the material for the last month of class and instead had us write a paper about math. If you actually need to learn the material, DO NOT take Ulrich. Everything is done in Excel, and he will give 0 credit for a correct answer if it's not formatted exactly how he likes it. Tons of extra credit, but learned nothing.
Was arrogant and condescending. Did not foster good learning environment. Looked forward to this class as it's crucial to my career, but learned very little despite getting an A. He made excuses to not read emails or follow through what he said. Top 3 worst teacher I've had. Ranted conservative politics like denying climate change half the time.
Would spend the first 15 minutes every day taking roll. Forced all work to be done in excel exclusively. He could be funny during the lectures but he was always pretty condescending still. You won't actually learn anything from here, as you'll just see videos of what formula to type into excel and which cells need to be placed there. Easy class tho
if you're a math or stats major, you probably shouldn't take this class. if you're a math minor and looking for an easy class, might be worth considering. You can get an A+ by doing all the work, but know that he is very condescending via email and you have to be able to download hw the second he posts it. Everything done HIS WAY in Excel.
As an engineer taking this class, linear algebra is a very critical topic to - so if you actually need to learn anything about the topic DO NOT take it with Ulrich. Easy A, but you won't learn a thing for future classes that you're expected to know from this class. He just flat out skips teaching the important material. Everything is done in Excel
Rude, arrogant. Encouraged you to ask for help and then when you did ask for help he just made you feel stupid. Dropped the class because his lack of being able to help or inability to not be rude
Doing well in his course is completely UP TO YOU. You will feel like he is condescending in his e-mails only if YOU ARE LAZY. Just watch his videos, digest his notes, apply yourself on HW and you will have an easy time. I spent less hrs per week on his course than any other engineering course. Don't be lazy, just put effort into his class.
I don't know how I feel about Dr. Ulrich, he's funny and his class took little to no time out of my week but I'm almost positive he didn't actually teach me anything besides how to use excel macros. If you are in a linear algebra and you don't learn about the definition of a determinate until the last week of class you have a serious problem.
DONT EVER TAKE IT with Ulrich. He is the most picky person when it comes to the class. The material was fun to learn, but one of the worst teachers I have ever taken. Gives you a zero on assignments if you name the submission files wrong. When try to ask questions about assignments or about your grade he is very cryptic and I'm not sure why? DONT
Ulrich, is one of the professors that is rude when you ask him a question. He wants everything his way and he talks rude to his students. It was a mistake to take it with him. Never again.
Absolutely the most horrid professor I've ever had. He is rude & condescending, it doesn't matter what you are asking him about. If you fail to download any of the material in time, or if you have problems with the one you downloaded he will not send you a copy of it, just an automatic 0. He did not cover all the material either for the course.
Horrible, just horrible. First off he doesn't even complete the class. Our class left off the final 5 week section. He takes forever to post any sort of solution about the assignments so you will have no idea what you got wrong. Don't even try talking to him, he always responds with disrespectful smart remarks and makes it all your fault.
This class is basically "Can you follow instructions?" All that matters to him is formatting. Extra credit assignments about his personal life (like "what was the date I married my wife?" Is that Linear Algebra?). I got an A and learned NOTHING about linear algebra in this joke class. He didn't make it to the last unit (out of 3, that's 33%)
Ulrich is a tough grader and his class is unorganized. Gives homework and takes weeks to grade and pass back (sometimes he doesn't at all). Very annoying when you want to use your homework to study for an exam but it's not graded.
If you are studying anything other than a Math major then DONT TAKE . Im a vet major and this is the hardest class i have ever taken. He is rude in emails and dont even bother asking for help cause you wont get it. He is condescending and treats you like it is your fault you arent understanding the work. Expect to wait weeks for feedback on work
Worst professor I've had since I've been at ASU. He is not helpful, takes all his assignments off of blackboard multiple days before they are due, and does not care about his students success at all. If you email him, good luck at getting a good response that helps at all. He shouldn't be able to teach at a university. Terrible professor.
Has unorthodox conventions and will not give you the time of day if you do not follow them. Do not take this class. It's an easy grade. but he's a pain to deal with.
Do you have little to no interest in Discreet Math? Well professor Jon Ulrich is the perfect MAT 243 professor for you. Even though the stress level is low and he offers extra credit most classes , it is extremely frustrating seeing him try to beat his record on how much time he can waste each class, so far, its about 45 minutes.
This man makes the class way more difficult than it needs to be. Notes are in a weird font, and there are SO MANY QUIZZES. The videos he uploads for hw are helpful, except he makes 4 separate videos for one worksheet and babbles the whole time. Also, the videos are a uncommon file that you have to download a random application to even open them.
Easy class to pass if you are capable, but you won't learn a damn thing. I have a 108% in discrete math, and the most complicated proof we've done is what you'll find in the second chapter of an eleven chapter pure math book. IF YOU WANT TO KNOW PROOFS ETC FOR COMPUTER SCIENCE, TAKE MAT300, WHICH COUNTS FOR THIS CREDIT.
I would never take another class with this professor. He is not only rude when answering emails, but also when it comes to his "review" of an assignment he barely helps. For one the reviews for the excel assignments he said everything looked great and no improvements to be made. After grading it he gives me a 60%. Unhelpful, don't take his class.
this professor is great he will help you out, just be critical and make sure your homework is perfectly done before you turn it in.
not that bad, if you want to learn linear algebra the material is there for you to study and learn. OR you can just pound through the excel HW and Exams and get a decent grade without really learning much about linear algebra, but either way you'll learn some excel!! Getting a timely email from him is a tough though...
Very particular with formatting, just be sure to always email your file to him. With a summer class there is less time to email him and get your corrections in, as he mostly only responds at 1am. I felt like I didn't learn much, but it's easy to get an A. He is rude and arrogant, but just ignore it and grind through the work and it'll be fine.
I took this class out of pure interest in Discrete Math--I simply wanted to learn math at a more abstract and advanced level. This class IS NOT for those who want to learn. "Dr." Ulrich literally just talks about his life, politics, or anything that isn't math for 30 minutes every single class. He's also obnoxiously anal about formatting.
Loves to talk about wanting to be pregnant and is anal about doing the homework his way. It is a waste of time to take this class.
Please dont take this guy. I dont know how he hasnt been fired yet. Wastes time in class. Does give extra credit but concerned its not going to be enough because he is very picky with his assignments and how you do them IN EXCEL.
Ulrich is insanely picky with the formatting in excel. You can email him the excel homework for him to check if its right before due date BUT he only tells you certain ones you got wrong and NO further explanation how to find the answer. Honestly, not that helpful. The quizzes are hard as well. I don't think I will even pass his class.
I am currently in Professor Ulrichs Spring MAT 211 Online. This class was done mostly on Excel but is an easy A if you work for it. He grading criteria is very clear and he has offered a few extra credit opportunities. I also have dealt with a personal matter and he was very understanding and has been very accessible outside of class.
He is open for students to email him for help. HOWEVER, his responses cross a line. He can be rude. Really rude. Your answers have to be formatted exactly what he wants. ALSO, his Policies and Procedures are 30 something pages long. I would never take him again.
Professor Ulrich can be particular about what he wants and how he wants things to be formatted. Be sure to take advantage of the opportunity to send your HW to him early for feedback and he'll tell you what's wrong with it until it is good to submit. Pretty chill and nice guy if you ever get the chance to visit his office hours.
Ulrich is a very stern professor. Points can easily be taken away just for not having the right format. You MUST follow his instructions to a T, or it's goodbye points. He does allow you to send in assignments to check, though he can come across as high and mighty. It also took a while for grades to be put in and assignments to go up.
Ulrich is an incredibly strict professor. He is often distracted by different topics during class. He doesn't teach a whole lot about calculus and he is very particular on tests. I lost 10 points for not circling answers even though they were correct. He also comes across as very rude and high and mighty, as if you should know the material already.
Dr. Ulrich is a great teacher if you are a math student that is willing to learn. He does a good job of simplifying concepts. His grading is pretty touchy on homework and tests. However; 1) he wants to see that you get the concepts his way and not just rely on previously learned methods AND 2) it has made the quality of work I turn in much better.
If you want to get a high score, you must follow his strange format! I wonder what we need to learn is how to work out maths problems, know the basic concepts or the ridiculous format? I lost a lot of scores, even if my answers are correct because I did not follow his weird format as he wants to see!It is not fair to students who want high scores!
He is strict in his unique format, which is time-consuming and meaningless. He always tells unrelated stories in class most of the time. He is arrogant and rude to students because he is overconfident. I usually spend 6-8 hours on homework per week. I strongly recommend him to retire and do not poison students anymore.
