He is an excellent teacher!! He explains the whole process of the Criminal Justice System. I had him for two hours a week on Monday Night and he has great stories to tell his class. Yet there is a 12pg paper due at the end of the semester but it's easy.

I found his class to be a snooze fest. Monotone and uninteresting. He grades rather easy and leniently, but not a great lecturer. His stories were funny, yet he goes on tangents and doesn't stick to material you will be quizzed on.

His lectures were boring. His exams were extremely diffifult. The exams were based on the lectures and book. The papers were easy. That's the only way I passed his class!

As long as you read the book and go to class you'll do just fine. Both the midterm and final are essays but aren't that difficult.

Took this as a night class, he always let us out at least half an hour early. Take-home midterms and finals, plus one other paper. Two quizzes, if it's short answer, know specific events that he focuses on in class. Reading helps but isn't essential.

The quizes are impossible. The majority of the class fails them, but he stil doesn't see that maybe it's his teaching for the reason why people fail. The midterm and paper are pretty easy, the only way to bring your grade up.

He's a smart guy, and forgets that we're collegue students that need some excitement. Hard quizzes but if you do good in midterm, final, and term paper you'll get an A or B. Go to class, he doesn't like it when people are absent. Be patient.

Make sure to go to class and know your notes. Know the IRAC writing style and your case law and you will do fine on the take home midterm and final. Really good class if you want to go to law school otherwise kind of intense.

It's my major course. He scares me when I ask important questions to benefit my education. I get laughed at in class cause he can't read my first name on a quiz or he misunderstands the entirety in class. I probably get the most attention in class.I exist

nice guy, study for your quizzes!! midterm is take home so that should be an easy grade- for the research paper you can observe court and write about it... all in all i took it as a night class and enjoyed it- always out at least 30 minutes early!!

yes you have to work, and read the book-- but come on people this class is not that bad! if you are just taking it as a filler class dont take this one, this is a class where you work hard but learn alot. if this is a field you are planning on going into- then take him, if not look elsewhere

he's a good teacher. he lets his evening classes out, and let us vote on the take-home midterm and final. he expects you to do the readings, and that's where most of the test questions come from, but the notes further the reading, and it's a good class if you're interested in CJ as a major.

He is boring. He reads from the book the whole time. I can do that myself! No significant lectures or notes whatsoever. Just a few students can get an A. He is perfectionist, wants everything you write to be 100% perfect. He is unclear and take attendance. Avoid at all costs!!!

This class is a nightmare. The longest two hours of my life. Thought there was supposed to be a take home mid-term and final, but there wasn't. Real hard quizzes too. Then this damned research paper along with everything else makes this class a definite NO.

Dr.Goldschmidt is a nice guy but his class is so boring. Those who took 131of course it was easy its a basic class!!Take him for 322 and see if you get a page of notes all semester-his lectures are so unclear.Lots of reading-have to know all cases in chpts. Avoid if possible.You'll b lucky 2 get a C

He is not the best teacher, but this class was not that difficult. 2 quizzes, midterm, final, and 10 page paper. That is all. If you really read the material and maybe take some notes as you go along, this class will be pretty easy. You might want to sit up front because he can be quiet at times.

If you would like to fail the take this class. His quizzes and test format is stupid and you will never understand. I can guarantee if you take this class with another professor you will get an A. He tries to put himself off as nice but doesn't give his students a break even if they are trying really hard to improve. definite no to taking him again

This class was wonderful. READ THE BOOK because tests/quizzes are mostly right off that material. He does not like to mess around so pay attention, take brief notes, and ask questions. He might seem a bit short with people, but don't worry.....that is his nature. I would take another class with him anyday. ONLY thing difficult is terminology.

experienced, smart guy... the book is pretty much all you need for a good grade in the class. His lectures are interesting and based mostly on his experiences in the field of criminal justice. Everybody I talked to got a 100% on the final research paper.

while yes his voice is monotoned, the subject(s) are interesting enough to get your through the class. he is a wonderful professor though and is very willing to help his students with something they might not understand. can't wait to take him for CRMJ 390. he is great!

A somewhat hard professor to take. He challenged you every step of the way. Yet he was helpful, and his special topics courses are very interesting. The courts and procedures classes are pretty hard, but as long as you pay attention and study, you should b fine.

For everyone who says class is hard, you probably shouldnt be going to this school.Midterm & last quiz, both open book, theres plenty of extra credit on both to get above an A & the only down side is the 10-12 page paper. Just make sure you read. Other then that, he is a good teacher, knows his stuff & you would have to be stupid not to get an A!!

He is an okay Prof, but expects us to KNOW case laws, but he can't seem to remember key facts himself & he's an attorney! Tests are extremely tricky & he ONLY gives you 30mins to logically think them ALL through!Openbook tests mean nothing when the questions are not properly worded! Details for legal research paper - HORRID!

The tests and quizzes are no longer open-book, and are incredibly difficult. The lectures are boooooorring. Had a hard time staying awake in this class. The papers are way to long. If you have to take this class, take it...if not, then don't.

One of the most difficult CRMJ classes here. BUT he's not a bad guy at all. He's helpful if u have questions. 5 quizes (very difficult), 1 research paper (10pgs), and a final (difficult) all are m/c. I got an A in this class somehow--extra credit!! but its a managable class overall. Wish, his quizes were easier. Thats what gets u!

Prof. G cares he was willing to help me improve my grade with extra credit. He expects you to read the assignments and he prepared to discuss the topics in class. Papers and quizes are not bad if you study.

One of the best classes, especially if you are interested in Criminal Law. The legal opinions can be difficult, and the reading is tough unless you're interested, but you will learn so much it is unbelievable. Goldschmidt has a mono-toned voice so the lectures can drag a bit, but he is a great prof who really cares. Highly recommended for pre-law.

SOOO monotone but hilarious when he laughs! So knowledgeable about law and a nice teacher. If you do your work, you can get an A. Case briefs add 5 bonus points to final grade.

Took a couple of weeks to get to liking him. Very helpful. Legal Analysis quizzes are hard at first, make sure you understand IRAC, otherwise you will have a hard time. Ask questions, read cases, and you should do fine. Buy book

I had Goldschmidt for several classes, but that is a reflection of the professors available rather than his teaching. He regurgitates from the book, drones on in a monotone, and subjectively grades based on factors beyond the syllabus. Time is spent better elsewhere, but given the lack of overlapping CRMJ professors you will have to take him.

Jona Goldschmidt is a great guy. He provided help for every test and homework, responded every email accordingly and had generous office hours. Dr. Goldschmidt was incredibly helpful about seeking internships as well, vowing to do his best. At first, I misjudged his character, however realized the man is extremely reasonable, realistic and fair.

Tough class, no doubt. Quizzes and final are very difficult unless you study rigorously. However, unless you put zero effort into the class, you will learn a lot. Goldschmidt is a great professor, though. Lectures are dry, but they will help you a lot if you pay close attention. He is also very helpful and extremely knowledgable.

Great teacher and great class. Really informative and teaches like a law class. Must be able to talk and argue because he often asks for opinions. He also has some cool stories and is the internship coordinator so useful to know.

Dr. G is very knowledgeable and knows what he's talking about. However, his lectures can be dry and monotone. Also, he teaches like a law professor, so be prepared to put anywhere between a fair to an excruciating amount of work in for his class. An A is possible, but make SURE you keep up with the reading and study hard. Text book is crucial.

Awesome person, not the best professor. His lectures are pretty basic, reviews what he asks you to read in the book. HE IS BORING, no visual aid, just reads from the book and talks MONOTONE. Interesting topic, boring lectures. Tests are super picky and tricky, not the best to ask for help. Ending up doing okay in the class but have to work for it.

I took a summer course with Goldschmidt so each class was about 3 hours long and he spent almost the entire time reading the textbook to the class. there are 5 tests worth 20 points so for each question you get wrong, you lose a percentage of your grade. Tests are also worded ambiguously.

Jona is a nice guy, but Christ this class is tough, you HAVE to study as hard as you can if you want to do well within this course. Learning to apply the concepts is everything. Assignments aren't too tough but tests are hard! Quizzes are even more challenging, despite them being open book! Good luck if you're a CJC major you gotta take him!

Hardest tests and quizzes ever. Every point counts, and the questions are very ambiguous and somewhat vague, and are often trick questions. They're all open book, but don't let that deceive you, these tests are ridiculously hard.

He is a pretty good guy and isnt too boring, BUT his quizzes are god awful. Honestly I would rather retake calc another year than deal with how vague and tricky his questions are. Multiple answers essentially mean the same thing, one is arguably more right. It's based on what he thinks. Pray that you can somehow avoid him.

Dr. Goldschmidt is a great professor. Criminal Law is not the most exciting of subjects so lectures can definitely be dry but he is a good professor and knows the subject. Make sure to write down all the examples he uses in class, as these will often come up on the online, open note, quizzes. He is very open to giving extensions and clarification

5 sakai quizzes and a final. Quizzes are tough and ambiguous unless you know the law inside and out. He can get monotone so you really need an interest in the material to pay attention. Gives opportunity to argue points back after each quiz. One easy research paper and offers half a letter grade in extra credit.

Dr. G is awesome. A lot of students didn't like the class because it was taught like a law class. If you learn to apply the law to the question, the answer is clear. In law, it is possible that one answer is more right than the other. He has great stories and it would benefit you to participate and ask questions.

Dr. Goldschmidt likes to just assign a reading every night and then go over it again in class. That's all. With the occasional 15 minute struggle for him to show us "a YouTube". He is not very interactive in class and brings zero excitement or passion for what he is teaching. The online quizzes frequently had incorrect answers that he did not fix.

Goldschmidt is too strict in what he expects for an undergrad course. He gives quizzes based on his opinion, rather than the actual court opinion. He'll argue against any student and refuse room for discussion on the answers.

Dr. G is one of my favorite professors ever. He is a really smart and cool guy. He is encouraging, super helpful, and easy to work with. He can come off a bit boring but that's only if you don't choose to put in your all and work hard. Take him for all course. You won't regret it. One of the best professors Loyola has to offer.

Goldschmidt is a very wise man. He is very experienced in his field and the law. Was is a lawyer. His lectures can be very boring and bland. As long as you pay attention in class and have the book you will be alright. 7 quizzes online and lowest dropped, online final, and a paper that you will get a 100% if you follow his guidelines

Loved this class. It was super interesting and he was always there to answer any questions! The online class requires a lot of reading, and you have to watch several videos a week, but it's all interesting. Papers are all super easy A's, as long as you know the material.

While the quizzes are online, they are very tough & specific. Sometimes he'll have 3 or 4 different concepts all within the same question. That said, he does drop the lowest quiz grade and allows you to try and argue points back in class. He's also hilarious when he starts telling stories. It's a tough class, but if you put in effort, its worth it.

While the class itself is very challenging, Goldschmidt himself is amazing! He's full of stories and is good at explaining complex concepts. The quizzes are tough but not impossible, he drops your lowest quiz grade too. I'd take another class with Goldschmidt if I could

I LOVE DR. G!!! He's one of the best profs at Loyola. His class is difficult though. You definitely have to work hard for your grade. If you're thinking of going to law school, he was great advice and he's a great prof overall. 10/10.

This was easily the most boring class I've ever taken. I didn't go a decent amount because I was just fighting the heavy eyelids in this class. The quizzes and final are all online, and the paper he graded easily. This class is somewhat easy, but super boring. He's a nice guy, but sounds like a robot reading off the powerpoint (that are online)

Dont take this class. Im serious. The quizzes are impossible, and class is a total bore, and the only reason i even forced myself to show up was so that i could maybe get a 70% on the quiz for that week. This class could have been super interesting if i wasnt sweating over my grade the whole time.

A lot of people don't like him, but if you get to know he's hilarious and just wants the best for his students. While his quizzes are hard, he lets you argue points back in class, which also helps to understand the material more. Also one paper that seems tough but is actually pretty easy, he's also an easy grader in terms of the paper

Dr. G is easily one of the best professors I've had at loyola. He's super funny and kind, and a really agreeable professor. At first he may seem a bit intimidating, but he's actually extremely approachable and really cares about his students. He lets you argue back points on quizzes, and is always willing to help with assignments outside of class.
