It will be very hard for you to make a C in this class - his own words. He does not care if you pass or fail. He expects everyone to participate in discussions. And he uses the word "right" often, like +50 times per lecture. Do not take unless you love history.
All you have to do is attend class and pay attention. He goes over the power point and tests come from the power points and discussions. GO to Discussions It only Benefits you!! He is very understanding and He is willing to help, if you are willing to ask.
Tough class, but easy to make a good grade if an effort is made. very good teacher. class is well worth taking.
Tests are super hard!! Should read all material given to have discussion every Friday.
So he really is a very understanding guy. I was out sick for about a week and he was very concerned and wanted to make sure that i did well and offered to meet with me if i needed help. He is a great guy but the class is NOT easy. Don't take if you don't like reading.
Professor Kauffeldt was very hard. He was very mean and voulger. I would NOT recommend him to ANYONE!!!
His textbooks are extremely hard to read and understand. Test are extremely hard. I definately would not recommend his class to anyone.
I really enjoy professor kauffeldt's class. It is definitely a hard class that you should only take if youre interested in the subject. If you dont like reading or taking notes, dont take his class. He is very helpful and personable in my opinion. He is straightforward which some may mistake for mean. He likes class participation as well.
Moves quickly, uses test material directly from text, powerpoints and discussions. Attending class is the only way you will pass. Very enthusiastic, helpful, but also very straighforward. Be prepared for class discussions. Always read.
This is the WORST teacher I have ever had. He is mean, and seems to get enjoyment of embarrassing students in front of the whole class. Material covered is VERY hard to follow. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS.
Attendance is not required, but you would be wise to attend. READ THE MATERIAL ASSIGNED AND KNOW IT! He has a history of throwing the class out if most don't read, as it is interlaced into the lectures. Will ask questions...alot. Be ready for discussions as well. He is a reasonable man and is willing to help, but only if you come looking for it.
Dr. Kauffeldt was one of the best teachers I've had. ATTEND. His class is not easy and you cannot skate along just by attending class. Participation is 20% of your overall grade, and READ the material given to you. Discussions are every Friday. Be sure to provide CLEAR well supported answers on your papers and tests.
He is not very good.he gives us tons of reading to do.He acts so bitter when people don't answer his questions in class. He is not very explanatory.Like he expects people to know a history already when they are not even history majors. He is very helpful though and will answer questions but grades too hard!
His tests are very hard.he grades to high,A lot of material to read too,You should only take him if your a history major not if you want to satisfy the your requirments
20% of his class is based on participation. He gives us tons of reading to do,and they don't necessary help in the tests. He goes through slides in class and expects you too know all the information. He is mean sometimes,Ill advice you too take him if you are a history major though
Really a great class on the history of the Middle East. Dr. K. really makes the subject interesting.
People say, ?Don?t take Dr.K!? People say, ?We don?t want to write them essays, ese!? But at the end of the day, I say, ?We all learned and improved because we stayed!?
Dr. Kauffeldt is an extremely great teacher. Yes his class is hard, but he is doing so to raise the level of learning at GSC, because let's be honest here, half of the students that go to GSC are never gonna make it in a larger University. And as far as being mean or rude, he didn't ask you to take the class or even be at college.Grow up.
Dr.Kauffeldt is a very intellegent man. I'm not a history major but I really enjoy his class. I don't think it's hard but I like it that it is challenging. If you pay attention to what he says in his powerpoint and read the materials that he tells you to, you will do fine. I never really liked history until I took Dr.Kauffeldt class.
Very demanding class. Do not take this class if you are just satisfying your required course. Dr. Kauffeldt is very organized and adheres to the syllabus. Most students struggle in this class. While the class is very difficult, you will feel accomplished and more cultured when it's all said and done.
Dr K is very fair. But if you think you can sleep through class and pass- you CAN'T!!! Even though readings are assigned... you can skip 2/3 of the readings but you MUST come to class, take hard core notes and memorize your notes to pass!!!
He's a very fair, but strict with his policies. If you take his class you must ATTEND! Simply reading and not attending is an easy F. He follows a power point presentation and I advise you do the same. He encourages questions and will point out a students lake of interest. His test are hard so paying attention in class is a must. I recommend him!
He expects alot from you in class and his tests are hard.
Thought the class was pretty good.
Class was probably the toughest I've had at GSC. Attendance really helps and you've got to do the reading every week. But the hard pays off and the subject is really interesting.
He is one of the hardest instructors I have had. You really have to go to class and read the material. You get what you give in this class. You have to participate and do the reading. His tests are not easy, but he is there if you need help! I really enjoyed his class! He made me understand history!
He is the most ridiculously difficult teachers I have ever had. He himself is rather likable, but the class is crazy. I am taking 4 other classes; I have worked harder for his class than the others combined. It is not an easy "A" or even an easy "B." In fact, it might not even be an easy "C." Great for history majors, but this B is bad for my GPA!
The class was really tough but fair. I made a B but had to work hard for it. So what is my advice to you all reading this? Only take this class if you have the time and youâ??re willing to work.
This guy has a reputation for being a hardass and its true; just read the posts below! But the class was still alright and pretty interesting.
What can I say? Go to class, take notes, and do the reading and you should be fine. Test questions come straight from the lectures and the powerpoints.
BEWARE!!!
PLEASE DO NOT TAKE UNLESS YOU ARE A HISTORY MAJOR! He expects you to know alot, doesn't give a study guide, and expects you to know everything he says. IT WILL ruin your GPA.
Class is a crazy challenge. However,I'm doing fine and would recommend it.
Dr. K gives real good lectures and knows a lot about what he teaches. He grades exams pretty hard, but is nicer on the papers and is very helpful if you need it. Do the required readings and come to class and you'll have few problems. He isn't the most exciting professor, but you will learn.
Extremely knowledgeable on his topic. I learned a lot in his class. you just have to work out his teaching style, and do the work, he will work with you if you make a real effort. Lots of reading assigned, I only read about 40%. He never takes attendance, participation helps grade. sort of offers a study guide for exams.
Look, the man gets a bad wrap. He appears unorganized and ill-prepared. I will admit that. On the other side, he cares about the wellbeing of his students, both academically and personally. Advice: sit down with him after a class and show that you are interested in his class. He will appreciate it and help you if you have questions.
I took Dr. Kauffeldt’s World Civ class. The reading was extremely dense and difficult to understand, but he covered the points he wanted us to know in class. Great powerpoints, clear voice, and pretty friendly. His tests are intimidating but he grades leniently.
He is horrible. I hated his class. He is hard to understand and is extremely arrogant and rude. He makes you feel dumb. I would never take him again or recommend him. He is only a leniant grader because if not we would all fail. The tests barely covered what was on the powerpoints. If you have to take him, study hard..its not completely impossible.
Very intelligent and cares a lot about global affairs. A very academic guy. However, his lectures might strike as too liberal for conservative students. Leave all political affiliations out the door first.
Decent professor - makes the material interesting and relevant to today. It's not just reading about history, it's understanding it through a modern perspective. The class is interesting, clear, and well presented.
Pretty hard class if you don't read the text books, but fairly easy to pass with a C. Recommended prof.
I liked the class, but as a history major I am probably biased. It may be a little much if you haven't taken any history courses before, it may be a little bit difficult as it is reading and writing intensive like many history courses, but at least he kept it interesting with the theme. Read the readings, go his office hours if you need help.
I absolutely love his class. He Is very clear about the material he is teaching. It may be a lot to handle but it is always I interesting. Never missed a class becuase I'm very intrigued with the class.
Do not take his class if you can avoid it, especially if you are conservative. By the time you get into the more recent history, you'll wonder whether you're still in American history or Iraqi history. His tests are extremely hard. Expect to not learn about the great achievements in America.
Pretty difficult teacher. He has a great message and explains everything well. Everything he taught applies to your everyday life that you can learn a lot from. He may go off on his tangents, but overall he really cares about his students and if you ask him for advice in or out of the classroom, he is willing to help.
It was an 8:00 class, so a lot of people didn't like it. However, I think he chose good books for us to read and I was very interested in the subject matter. Also, he grades pretty easy. I thought his lectures were quite interesting, though they aren't for everyone. If you aren't interested in world history, take something else.
Do not take professor Kauffeldt if you are not ready for a real college course and a real college professor. He is the real deal without a doubt. He explains the subject thoroughly and will go into greater depth if you need him to. Reading is essential! You have to work if you want a High B and any kind of A. He is a nice guy if you participate.
Worst teacher ever for freshman year. He does not help you at all. He basically just reviews the book instead of teaching. I would not suggest ever taking him. He's very rude if you don't read
Professor Kauffedlt was helpful and taught with real world applications to make class more interesting. There are tough tests during the semester so make sure you keep up with your readings. He created decent outlines, which are really helpful for the tests.
Pay attention to notes and outlines; this is key to being successful in his class. Attend as many extra credit events as possible. Try to get involved stay involved. If you put in the effort, and he sees it, you will be ok. He's strict because he wants to give you the best so that you can learn a lot.
DO NOT take this class if you are not a history genius!!! My class started out with 30 people and only had 13 after the final drop date. I am a really good student and I worked my butt off in this class and was one of only 5 people to pass the class! This is the ONLY C I have ever received in my lifetime! He is very confusing and a tough grader.
Dr. k is extremely passionate about the field of world history and is very knowledgable about the subject matter. Yes he sometines tends to stray of topic, but the majority of his lectures are interesting and super informative. He references the books and they are extremely helpful to study for the exams with.
This was definitely NOT the usual history class (as many expected)! The emphasis was on “the history of revolutions”; readings were mostly from several assigned books. The lectures were demanding, but you learn a lot if you listen carefully.
Great professor. I wish I could have another class taught by him.
Great college professor. You need the books, and read the chapters before class. He uses powerpoints and will send them to you as well. If you don't understand something or need extra help GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURs. He WILL help you, and pretty much give you the answers. His test are essay questions. So you NEED to know the material.
Horrible teacher! Arrogant, rude, talks to people in a demeaning manner. Seems like he enjoys making his students feel stupid. Hard to understand, talks too fast & is all over the place, so it is hard to take good notes. He flips out if he doesn't think you are reading all the material he requires. Class not enjoyable, probably won't retain much.
Excellent professor! Yes, he is hard. You must take detailed notes and not miss class. Do not rely on his PowerPoint - that is just an outline. He will test you on details. VERY interesting lectures. Main text was pretty dry, but the special topic reading was fascinating! This is not a show up when you want, get a study guide and pass class.
Kaufeldt is a decent professor. His lectures are entertaining and informative. He teaches to all learning types with slides of text, maps, and photos. He makes sure every student is on board before moving on, so if you fall behind it is your own fault.
Professor K always has exciting lectures and is very enthusiastic about history. I had him for Hist 2112 and am thinking to take him again. He had the ability to clarify concepts better than any other prof I have ever seen.
Professor Kauffeldt is not the hardest professor out , I enjoyed his class , he is very passionate about what he teaches , his tests can be hard if you do not study ! if I could take him again I would !
Pay attention in class and take notes. He puts things in tests that are easy to overlook when studying. Study small details and make sure you read the books he assigns. He doesn't take attendance but if you miss its hard to catch up. Not an easy A. If you aren't a driven student this isn't the class to take, about 10 people dropped the class.
Participation is needed to get an A but very difficult to actually achieve especially if you are conservative at all. He is a very liberal teacher and not afraid to show it.
Seriously, go over his PowerPoint and know the trivial things. Know all the acronyms on Power-points and read your books. Also make sure you watch the videos or you could possibly get removed from the class. And this goes without being said please be respectful
His questions are confusing
His questions are confusing and his accent is sort of heavy, which makes it even harder to understand what he's asking
Professor Kaufeldt is a good professor. He initially positions himself as a being a tough professor, but in reality his classes are a lot of fun (if you like history!) You will need to either read for his class, or do a good job taking notesremembering things.
If you are not passionate about history and slavery, do not take this class. His tests are 1-10 short answer questions about ANYTHING from the lecture, and then 3 essay questions as well. He goes very fast explaining the information and it sometimes gets confusing to absorb it all.
I do not recommend taking him if you don't like talking in class. He requires that you participate and if you do not he deducts a lot of points. You should read, but if you don't you won't be too behind too much. All you do the whole semester is listen to him lecture, write a couple papers, and take tests.
good class but hard. Discussions need you to really be involved not just pay attention. Materials were interesting, particularly the videos. I learned a lot.
This class was very difficult. The professor was difficult, rude, and unapproachable. His lectures were long, and he often yelled at students for not asking enough questions, or for not understanding material. Beware of harsh participation grades. If you want to get full participation credit, you MUST be involved in verbal class discussions.
Dr. Kauffeldt was one of the best professors I've ever had! I had him my first senior semester for Modern Revolutions in the Middle East for a seminar class. We had lots to read, an annotated bibliography, and a 20 page paper due. I was nervous about the class but he was always willing to answer my questions and help in anyway possible!
Awesome professor. He is very knowledgeable about history and his lectures are clear and interesting. He always gives time for you to ask questions after ever slide. Our grades consisted of 3 exams and 2 papers. I turned in one paper late but he was super chill about it. Definitely need to show up most of the time and study before the exams.
Great class. Willtake this prof again.
Has great passion for history. Nice guy and assignments are doable. Show up to class, do the assignments, and keep up with the reading. The class in general is pretty challenging but he makes it understandable.
Great class but challenging. I learned a lot and would take Dr. K. again.
No question a super tough class. He says he does not make it like that but it is anyways. But I still learned a lot and do not regret taking the class.
Dr. Kaufeldt knows his stuff and is someone who has been to a lot of the places that he talks about in class. Subject matter was interesting, though can be dry at times. Classes are packed with information.
He is very in depth with covering every aspect of modern U.S history. He does a great job at explaining it but at the end of the day it is your job to remember it. Also a word of advice would be being active in class since participation is part of your grade, plus he will gladly answer any questions. Make sure to have your vooklets.
He makes the topics we cover very interesting, but you do have to study. Dr K really helped me out with an assignment and didn't count it against me. Class is well organized and his weekly emails and updates help out a lot.
It is a great class. Dr. K really knows his stuff and gives interesting lectures. The take-home exam format is difficult as the turnaround time is just two weeks, but it is manageable if you apply yourself. I am planning to take another class with this professor when offers something new in the future.
Great class --- Professor Kauffeltd is engaging, timely in his feedback and was more than willing to go out of his way to make sure I learned the content --- definitely will be taking another class from him.
Dr. Kauffeldt is a great teacher and presenter. He is always available and provided plenty of additional weblinks and resources to help clarify the topic. He also gave good feedback on written assignments that made sense. The lectures helped me feel more connected to the material. Dr. K helped make all of the writing worth taking the class!
Challenging, but engaging course. Essential to read so you can participate in class discussion. This was a tough course, but wants you to do well, so take advantage of office hours. He will make you work/think vs giving you flat out answers. Also, pretty fair grader if you show knowledge/effort on the papers.
He is a very tough professor, but you will not regret taking this class. He is amazing. If you have the opportunity to take him I suggest you do so. Do not expect to kick back and get an A because he just isnt one of those professors, he expects you to engage in class discussions.
Like the class but do have a hard time with some of the material. Would take this prof. again if plan ahead and have more time.
Too much focus on slavery. I did not like that as it made me feel uncomfortable. Class was ok though.
The toughest history class I've ever taken, but the most valuable. He is an amazing teacher, very passionate and educated. You will learn a lot, but will have to be a true college student to pass. You have to read everything he tells you, participate in class, and study a lot! It was so difficult, but I left feeling like a reformed person!
Don't be misguided just because he is foreign. His accent is not an issue at all. Funny too sometimes. He is a pretty good teacher. He understands that most people are there because it is required for there major not because they like it, but still expects you to work. Test questions come from study guides and class lecture notes.
Do the assignments and don't skip class! His tests come from homework readings and notes. He likes to sneak in little comments in his notes that will show up on the tests. Is really helpful if you ask. Just email him and hell take care of it! This is an involved class no cake walk.
Really TOUGH class. Get ready to read and participate!!
Seriously my favorite college class that I have ever taken, but I had to work very hard. This is not a class where you show up & get an A, you have to work for it, but it was so rewarding. 3 tests, 2 papers. He gives out essays prompts for the test a week before, so you have time to study. Amazing professor! If you want to learn a lot, take him!!
Professor Kauffeldt is the worse college professor I've experienced so far. He basically bashes America the whole time, if you're a republican I was stay away from taking him. He is a very blunt democrat and it shows in his lectures! At times he's hard to follow and hard to understand. Make sure you participate, and get ready to read!!
I found some of the topics to be interesting, but I felt his lectures were difficult to follow at times. Plus, he grades 20% off of participation, so if you don't like talking about material in class don't take him. Just put in effort and participate to pass with an A. I would take him again, but there was nothing memorable about the class.
The guy clearly knows his history, and if you listen closely and manage to stay awake during one of his excruciatingly long lectures, you might learn something. But he is an extremely tough grader and expects too much from his students. Tons of reading involved, and he gives so much info that it's impossible to know what to study for.
Felt the class tested my limits. He says will be difficult and it really is. Do not recommend to take unless ready to work hard and be on top on things.
This was by far the hardest class i have ever taken. He doesn't grade attendance but you definitely don't want to miss even one day because you will miss out on so much information. His tests are very detailed and difficult, if you don't study you will absolutely fail. Don't take this class if you don't like to read or take tedious notes.
Great class but really tough. I especially found the first section on the exams to be very specific and sometimes really hard to answer. I'm sure I'll get a B in the class all the same.
Dr. Kauffeldt is extremely knowledgeable and his class is very enjoyable, although not easy. He is a fair grader on the papers and tests. Skipping class is not a good idea; LOTS of vital information is discussed during the lectures. Watch the movies he recommends and it will make class even more interesting.
Professor Kauffeldt was probably one of the toughest professors I've taken so far (even tougher then Chemistry). However, I found his lectures to be very interesting. He is a very nice teacher and he really cares for his students.
This class is not easy, there's multiple readings per week, and the take home tests are demanding. That said, I have a ton of respect for professor Kauffeldt. His lectures are interesting, he has a good sense of humor and just seems like a good guy. His classes aren't easy, but I genuinely enjoy his lectures.
Professor Kauffeldt is very passionate about the material he teaches. He takes time to answer questions in class and never turned me away when I would drop by his office with more. The class covers thousands of years worth of material, but the exams are spread out so that they each cover feasible amounts of time. Take this class!
Excellent class. I learned so much and will take this prof again. I can recommend this class for all who like history and want a challenge.
Honestly, I have taken him for 1 lower-level and 3 upper-level classes. He is extremely knowledgeable in his field of study as well as history outside of his focus. You will learn a great deal from him but he does require a good amount of reading. Always talk for those discussion points. The reading are usually very interesting
Coming from someone who HATED World History in High School (but finished with a B+) I actually really enjoyed this class. He does an amazing job on the lectures and I think it makes it more interesting bc you can see his passion for the lessons. The readings are super interesting. The tests are very specific (half the people dropped the class)
Overall there are 2 papers and 3 tests. For the ID's on the test, he doesn't just grade on what you write but also what you don't write. As for the papers, he marked off because I used the word "prior" and replaced it with the word "former". Hardest history ever.
Class was great. The test super tough but I did okay. He was always in his office and ready to help.
Dont take him. Everyday he gives a long lecture. You will not pass if you dont study. He requires you to read 3 books. If you arent willing to dedicate a LOT of time into this class then dont take it!!!
Worst professor I have ever had in college. Rude and doesn't care for students. 5 grades overall. 3 tests, including final, and 2 essays. H will pick apart your paper and grade everything harshly. Tests and 20% participation grade is brutal. Cancelled class the whole week before finals and said he "didn't care anymore". Made a D. DONT TAKE HIM
Smart, funny ans always helpful.
I had Dr Kauffeldt twice a week and his lectures felt super long. There are new lecture powerpoints every week. The class is not an easy B and you need to put in more than a minimum effort and turn in all the work needed. My advise is to read the books required.
I've taken him twice now and he's still my favorite professor. If you don't like him, then you're just lazy. 3 tests and two papers, and then a participation grade. It shouldn't be a hard class. He expects a lot, but it's worth it because you learn so much if you just pay attention. I have nothing bad to say about him.
Liked the class. No negatives.
I'm a former student of Dr. K. Prior to taking his class I always hated history. That was because my former teachers were just focused on facts and dates. Dr. Kaufeld's class in not like that at all. I recommend his claases to everyone.
This class is very difficult. Very lecture heavy, if you miss a day you better have a friend in the class to give you he notes. Make sure to read so you can keep up with class lectures. Take the best notes you can because the notes are your study guide for his tests!
He spits a lot. He grades our essay heavy. Take off points if you used the wrong wording in essay! Will move on if you do not read the material or powerpoint. Give you a study guide a week before the exam but he will grade you heavy. Very strict. You will have to read alot to understand the material. Will be taking off points for not participatin
He throws tantrums if you don't read. He takes off points if he doesn't like your wording. He publicly humiliates you if you doze off. However, he is incredibly brilliant, so if you manage to live up to his expectations you will have a great time. But very few people do.
Very hard teacher. but if you pay attention take notes of everything he says and read/watch everything he tells you to, then you will pass. hard grader but he makes you work for it. if you miss make sure you know someone that takes good notes. You really have to TRY I cannot say it enough. He really loves what he does and everything is essay based
Excellent class. Will definitely take another class with Prof. Kauffeldt.
Tough class. Do not take unless ready to study.
His class is pretty hard. However he knows his stuff! This guy should be teaching at Harvard. I enjoyed his class and will be taking history 2112 in the fall. If you do not like reading and do not enjoy actually learning history, you may not enjoy the class. The lectures are very informative. Only take if you actually want to learn!!!
He wont let you go to the bathroom. I highly recommend you dont take his class. His lectures are so boring and he grades very hard. He yells at you if you put your notebook away before the end of class. Do not take his class. Doesnt even make world history interesting!
Excellent class so far. Really enjoying the class and main book we are reading. Will probably take this prof again.
Good prof. Expects you to read and come to class ready for lectures. Attendance is mandatory and I recommend showing up because some questions on the tests are based off the lectures.
Prof K has clear guidelines for the class. As long as you keep up with powerpoints and go to the lectures you'll be fine.
Defimnitely not an easy class. I've had some tough days but will still do okay. Class is quite interesting, though.
His class is difficult but you will learn if you listen. This class IS NOT for those who want easy grades and do not want to learn. This guy is probably too smart to be teaching at a small school so take advantage of major university professor at a small school while you can. Taken twice and learned so much from reading and listening.
Tough but makes history interesting. Makes you work for your grade.
Would never take him again! The hardest class I have ever taken! I addended all classes, took great notes, did the readings and still scored poorly. Exams are AWFUL!Strict rules in the classroom. Participation is must for him, will call you out.
You have to go to class. It is tough to get an A or B but you can manage. Make sure you pay attention to his lexctures. His tests are difficult so you've got to know the material.
Prof. id nice but class is a lot of work. If history is not your major, I'd say skip this instructor.
There is a lot of valuable information and his lectures are top-notch. The exams are worth 60 percent of the overall grade though so if you aren't a good test taker, I'd steer clear. The class is quite difficult, but likely rewarding if you intend to major in History. If you just need to fill a requirement and preserve your GPA, look elsewhere.
Easily the worst professor I have ever had in my life. He is extremely arrogant, unwilling to answer questions, rude, and makes you feel uneducated. On multiple occasions, he put a photo on the screen and ask us where it was from (decades before we were born!) and if we were unable to answer, he called us uneducated. Extremely disappointing class.
I can honestly say that the class was pretty inspirational. We had some open discussions on many topics that really related to the course material, and which challenged our way of thinking. My advice to others is pay attention, take notes, and ask questions.
He is awful. I had a horrible experience with this class and the teacher makes you feel dumb. He is very old-school . He has no sympathy for others and expects you to know everything based on reading. And his notes are very confusing. DONT TAKE HIM
Kauffedlt is a great prof. I took his class, and found he was bit of a stickler and graded tough. His grading sets the tone for his expectations. Go to class and finish all the reading assignments, be respectful because he does care! I recommend taking his class, he does a great job!
Online schooling at UNG is already an ineffective platform as it is, but Dr. Kauffeldt was incredibly disorganized, provided assignments outside the portal the school used for instruction, never responded to emails/inquiry and - I can't believe I'm saying this - marked points off for using a semicolon to separate two independent clauses...
Dr. K really cares about what he is teaching.
A lot of information is covered. There is some reading to do and notes to take. It is best to start preparing for the tests several weeks before.
Amazing professor! He knows so much and you will learn a good amount of material. However, the tests are hard and very specific and you will have a good amount to learn. There are only 2 papers (20%), 3 tests (10,20,30%), and 10% participation grade for the class so there is not much to help bring grades up.
Very helpful prof. Responds quickly to emails. Clear on expectations. A bit of reading to do and a couple of papers.
