He gives you everything that you need to learn the material. The practice problems go right along with the online textbook/videos. As long as you put effort into the class you WILL pass. He cares about students and wants everyone to succeed. I ended up not finishing my last few assignments due to life events but ended up still with a B.
Jonathan was very straightforward about what he expected of you and the grading of the course. When I had a few bumps in the beginning, I communicated with him and he responded promptly. I would take his class again.
An amazing professor who checks in on struggling students and makes it easy for you to pass. Highly recommend.
Lectures were helpful, and timeline for online class was at your own pace, which I loved.
Prof Davis is really great at reaching out to students making sure they stay on track in the course. This class has a ton of work but Prof is very encouraging and on top of things. Emails back fast and frequently checks in on students. Just don't slack off on the coursework
Awesome teacher. He was always available to help me when I needed
CIS105 is not a difficult course. Jonathan Davis does not have the communicative skills that make him stand out as someone that belongs in the education field. You'll learn more about this when you receive his about me email. "I did an in-person course my first-time teaching with 300+ students and learned very quickly that I hate public speaking."
I don't really think he cares about actually teaching. He sends these prescripted emails to his students to show his presence. Too many assignments and in the end, if you don't score well on "test your skills" assignments, it is over. He has this "all assignments are due by last day" thing going on that makes it harder for anyone to keep up.
This is a very challenging course, but it teaches very useful skills with a flexible learning environment to do the course at your own pace. The professor is very available to answer questions.
I enjoyed this course a lot.
I think he is a good professor. I personally did not have a problem with him. I did learn a lot about excel. I do think, however, the last 2 weeks of assignments wasn't really useful to me. I had a hard time with it. Maybe I just didn't understand it or maybe it was just annoying. But other than the last 2 weeks of assignments, it was good!
Professor Davis is really amazing. He really cares about and interacts with his students. There is a lot of homework but it really isn't hard, just somewhat time consuming. I would definitely take another class with him. Take CIS 105 with Prof. Davis if you can!! You won't regret it.
The professor sets clear expectations and because the subject matter is challenging, he has 'suggested' due dates but you can work ahead if you like and you are not penalized for 'late' work. It is a relief to know that if life gets in the way, you don't have to adhere to the 'due dates'. Great class and I learned A LOT
This is a class that is work at your own pace and have a little experience with computer language and excel program.
Jonathan was extremely supportive and helpful. Lectures were very clear. I was able to complete this class at my pace.
I only knew basic Excel and this course helped a lot to improve my excel skills. You can work in your own pace, but make sure to not do assignments last minute because it can be overwhelming. SQL was tough and barely made it to A+, so make sure to pay attention to videos. A lot of reading and videos. Instructor is available for any assistance.
He was amazing! You can do everything at your own time and was very flexible and caring.
Professor Davis is upfront to what is required for this class. For my online semester he basically let us take our time with the coursework given with the exception that everything that was going to be graded (the quizzes, practice problems, and tests) had to be done by the last day of the semester.
Best Professor I have had so far! Really easy going and actually cares to get to know students. Work is self paced and he was always sending out emails for reminders which was helpful. Was available if you had any questions. Definitely recommend!!
Took his CIS 105 class online, which is probably the best way to take this course. There is no late work, but in turn of that, there are no "due dates", just a suggested one, the last day is the "DueDate". I loved this because I was incredibly business working 7 days 14 hours, so having that flexibility of turning in work and tests was monumental.
So basically this class is easy/convenient in the sense all of the hw is due on the very last day of the course, but you HAVE to stay on top of things. It's all really easy, but sometimes the more advanced excel assessments can be tricky. He is always available for help and constantly sends out announcements. He's super nice and encouraging. 10/10
Laid back, self paced course paired with a good professor made CIS105 enjoyable and easy to learn from.
Thank you Jonathan! This was such a fun class. The lessons feel like games. The grading scheme is extremely generous, and although it take a bit a work to figure out how to use Excel and SQL, the assignments pair up the relevant readings and videos for each lesson, and you can take unlimited attempts to get them right. Highly, highly recommend.
Pretty straight forward course. You have to time manage but was a pretty easy class. Didn't need to reach out to Davis often at all since directions were simple
You can work at your own pace. Unlimited homework attempts, 2 attempts for quizzes, and 2 for tests. I finished early and learned a lot of new Excel functions and features I haven't encountered. His answers to my questions were timely and constructive. I won't hesitate to take another class with him as my instructor.
This is literally the most useful and easiest course I've taken at ASU. It just teaches you a lot of info about Excel and computer systems in general. Everything is due at the end of the session (I took session A) and there is no tests and no essays, just assignments that you can take as much time as you need on. TAKE THIS DUDE if you can. Easy A+.
If you need a CS credit, take 105 with Davis! I am someone who hates working with computers but this class was an absolute breeze. It's supposed to be accelerated with it being session A but I didn't find the workload difficult at all. One of the easiest classes I've ever taken. Friendly professor and course was very well organized.
Jonathan is a very good professor. Him and his TA were very accessible throughout the course and had daily live sessions for any questions or help you needed. I didn't have any problems in the course, but I knew help was readily available, if required. There was a good amount of work and a fair amount of reading. Good effort = good grade.
He is great! He very considerately checks in, he cares about helping you get the grade that you want, and is very accessible, and responds quickly to questions!
Such a great professor and class is ran efficiently, flexible due dates and material is easy!
This course was extremely straight forward. As long as you put in the effort, there is no way you wont pass with an A. The professor and TA are also very caring and offer lots of help if you ever need it; however, as long as you read and do what is required I do not think you will have difficulty! Make sure you don't fall behind. 10/10
This class was awesome and it really helped not having everything due till the end of the semester because I also work a lot but they would still be on your dashboard so you could work ahead or take a little extra time doing it. He's very encouraging and wants you to succeed!
Although I never met the guy, Professor Davis was the most caring i-course instructor I've ever had. He cares for his students and constantly sends emails for tutoring or in some cases when I didn't due that week's homework. Take him, he is an easy A as long as you put in the minimum effort to do all the assignments, Also NO EXAMS in this class :)
Great professor. I thoroughly enjoyed his class. He takes the time to get to know his students and provide assistance when needed. The class itself is easy. Take notes and make sure you know what you're doing before you take the assessments. Do not hesitate to take any class he teaches.
He was always available to help. He offered assistance numerous times.
Enjoyable course. I felt that I learned a lot despite a fair computer background, but I felt like it was a good introduction and anyone could do well in it. If you are taking this class, just be careful of the automatic grading, it can be precise. It was self-paced with a suggested timeline, I would recommend sticking to that timeline.
Gave clear expectations and flexible submission dates, which is perfect for those who have responsibilities outside of online classes. Regularly checked up on students and sent personable messages.
Encouraging, fair and clear.
Mr. Davis was a great and communicative professor. Although most of the coursework was through the MyEducator platform, he offered himself and his TA's office hours through Zoom weekly.
Very clear course layout and I appreciate how the only HARD deadline is the last day of the course! I was able to work at my pace and was able to learn a lot!
Professor Davis is very clear on the requirements of his class. You work at your own pace but he provides a weekly schedule if you need structure. He replies quickly and is very active online and through office hours. Read the syllabus and do your work and you'll be fine.
I was going through a lot personally and it was affecting my performance in class. He put in the time to check in on me to see if I needed any advice or tutoring. I wasn't always super responsive but I appreciated that he was willing to help me
Jonathan Davis was very fair. Had a clear syllabus that included flexible deadlines up until the end of class (love this). I had an issue with how a grade was being calculated and he was quick to respond. Very active in answering messages and in slack, highly recommended.
this course was pretty short but honestly if you stay on top of your work you'll get a decent grade. there are no deadlines and its all up to you to complete the work. would take again.
The teacher is amazing, he cared about me the whole time and checked in with me. There is just a lot of work to be done in the course, I fell behind because there aren't any deadlines. All self-paced which is really nice but it's easy to slack off and fall behind quickly. Just make sure to stay on track and he will help you the best he can
Reached out to him multiple times with questions and for help and he was very short each time and did not offer any help. Does not make himself available to help. Be prepared to teach everything to yourself on your own. Complicated course set up to make it harder with no guidance. Had to buy two books that did not use. Do not take a class with him
I wish all online profs were like him. No late penalties so you can work at your own time. That is exactly what I needed as someone who works full time with family to spend time with. He sent frequent announcements and genuinely cared for the well-being of the students, even outside the scope of academics. Even reached out when I was falling behind
Overall amazing person and professor. I would highly recommend.
Jonathan Davis is an excellent instructor. His online course is well organized, with additional help every step of the way, and the coursework has great knowledge to obtain. He is very respectful and friendly.
This professor conveyed the material very clearly. The textbook selected for the course already did a great job of teaching the information but the professor included lecture videos and at least 3 other forms of assistance to make sure students understood the material.
Definitely very engaged with student progress. If you're someone who likes 1-on-1 communication with your professor, he's a great fit.
This professor was a pleasure, very personable, caring, and provided plenty of resources to ensure you succeed.
Great instructor. Informative and fun class!!
The professor is great! The work is not bad and timing is perfect. Professor Davis allows for you to take your time in doing the modules but my advice is to NOT DO SO. The modules can become harder as you go and if you fall behind too much and do not stay focused(and because the assessments are most of your grade) you can fail and not even realize.
I thought Professor Davis was great. He allows for you to take your time in doing the modules which I thought was great. He also gives great feedback, would take another class with him!
The entirety of this course is graded automatically which gives the instructor the unique opportunity to say "Hey! Everything is due on the last day!" You could probably finish the entire course in less than ten days. Beware that it gets very hard at times though, so do not wait until the last possible second.
Feedback is timely and responsive to tech issues and everything was clearly articulated for the course
Professor Davis is great! His class is designed so well and I loved the flexibility. It allowed me to complete the course while going through a tough transition. I highly recommend this professor!
Amazing professor , and was really good at communicating. I had stuff going on in life so I didnt do as well as I hoped I would of, but the professor was always checking up on me and giving me feedback on how to improve my grades. :)
The most flexible deadlines. I completed everything for this class within the last 2 weeks (WOULDN'T ADVISE) and the prof seemed like a nice person. There are video tutorials to help with the homework when you get lost, and there were multiple extra credit opportunities. If you put in the extra time that I didn't, its an easy A.
Very down to Earth and caring professor. The course was online and self-paced so I didn't have to interact with Professor Davis much, but anytime I encountered an issue or had a question he was extremely helpful. I highly recommend this course (easy A) and this instructor.
sets everything up so it's super easy to follow on canvas! everything is super straightforward once you get the hang of it. he's super nice, and actually cares how students are performing in his class. i'd recommend!
Super easy class. If you need a CS credit I would definitely recommend Davis. Everything is super straight forward and clear and you have plenty of time to do all the work. Easy A+ if you put in the limited effort needed. You also learn a surprisingly large amount about excel and SQL!
Professor Davis Truly cares about his students. He constantly checks on them almost annoyingly; also, he offers multiple extra credit assignments.
amazing
Enjoyed the class, professor was fair and responsive when you asked questions.
OMG! BEST INSTRUCTOR AND COURSE EVER! He encouraged us to post that response haha. Seriously though, this is an extremely easy course. A motivated student who has seen excel at all before could finish the entire course in a few days. Even so, Davis is a very kind person who wants to form connections with his online students. He actually cares.
I loved this class and professor. Struggled to understand class setup but then it was easy. Checked on me every single week offering help when I was behind, really really cares for his students. Easy assignments, need textbooks, and I actually understand excel now. Offers up to a 2% grade bump for extra credit. Would take again.
Professor Davis is a great instructor! He takes the time to carefully breakdown concepts so they are easy to understand. He is also patient with his students. Would absolutely take a course with him again.
The class is fairly easy if you use the books. This class is heavily based on excel spreadsheets. Each week there were a few quizzes on each chapter and a few different excel lessons. Each quiz you get 2 attempts and each excel lesson you can take as many times as needed to get 100%. Use the books and you'll do great!
Amazing professor- straightforward, to the point, and very clear grading. Grades updated right away so you always know where you're at in the class. Prof Davis and his TAs answer questions on the inscribe community within 24 hours and are very helpful. The concepts are easy enough if you actually study. Great professor, would definitely take again!
If you listen to the lectures and refer back to your readings, you will pass with flying colors! He reached out to us individually to see how we were doing throughout the course and responded promptly to any hiccups along the way. I have been able to apply my knowledge to my job which has simplified things immensely! Thank you Prof. Davis!
AMAZING and caring teacher, lot of homework and not super hard just time consuming with Excel. Very organized and well informed on everything. EC offered but do the work and it is an easy A!
This professor is excellent for this specific course. Checks up on his students and provides assistance by setting up constant Zoom classes to answer any questions. The material covered in the course is very informative and will stay with you if you practice it. The workload can be time-consuming, but it is worth it due to its effectiveness.
Professor Davis was a fantastic teacher and genuinely interested in the success of his students. He provided ample opportunity for students to interact and get questions answered. Course structure was very straightforward. Professor Davis has a great ability to convey the course content in an understandable way. Very high quality teacher.
There were a lot of assignments, the textbook was informative, and the homework would give back feedback to understand any mistakes. I would take this professor again!
This class was super awesome. Requirements and expectations are clearly laid out on the syllabus and throughout the course. Plus, there is tons of flexibility for due dates with minor penalties up until the last day of the course. The class is assignment-heavy, but the material is straightforward and easy. No exams. Easy open-book quizzes.
This is a great teacher, very involved. Not a lot of teachers are like that. I very much appreciated it. The coursework was appropriately paced. Everything was laid out in the beginning, and you had an extra week grace period or you could work ahead if you desired. Although I consider this an easy class, I really did learn a lot!!
He shows interest in getting to know his online students by sending out emails to those who didn't respond to a community post (in my case I forgot), and wants every student to pass by sending reminders weekly about assignments due! Very forgiving and understanding as well! 10/10 he should be the standard for every professor out there!
ONE OF MY FAVORITE PROFESSORS EVER. He shows so much care into the success of his students and wants to get to know all his students! He is so understanding and accommodating and honestly hope all my future professors can learn a thing or two from him! Even though his class had nothing to do with my major(Graphic Design), he was AMAZING! A GEM!
Very understanding! Was always eager to help and had many resources to provide help.
Overall, great professor. Flexible assignment schedule for a working student. In my course, participation in community posts was optional for those who want or don't want to get to know their community more. The only way you would fail this class is by not trying to do the work at all!
This is one of my favorite classes so far, professor Davis cares about his students a lot and tried to make sure each of us had the tools we needed to be successful in his class. Honestly it was not a hard class at all, as long as you keep up with the work you'll do great!
He's a great professor who cares about his students and wants them to succeed. The course material was not too difficult at all and he explains everything very clearly. There are also a lot of opportunities to get extra support if you need it during supplemental instruction or his office hours.
Prof Davis genuinely cares about his students, which was so refreshing. When he noticed I fell behind 2 weeks, he reached out right away & asked how he could help. HW is not too bad, & there's tons of office hours w/ extra personnel if you need help. I found all the contributing faculty helpful & kind as well. Highly recommend for CIS 105! :)
Great Professor! Willing to help with anything.
sweetest man ever. genuinely tried to connect with his students and was super helpful. super big grace periods for late assignments, could recieve full credit up to a week late.
Great Class! However there are like 10 or more assignment due weekly.
Professor Davis was great! He was very attentive, constantly checking in on everyone, was always hosting extra lectures, and was super understanding if you ever fall a little behind! There is a lot of work, which is not on his own volition, but he really shows that he wants everyone to succeed in the class. Would definitely take again!
I really enjoyed the class! The work is 100% self paced and I was able to finish the class early. Some of the exams are easy, while others can be extremely time consuming... so plan ahead! Almost all the work including exams were completed using excel, and nothing was proctored throughout the course.
He was a great teacher, he reaches out to the students and his class was easy to take.
His lectures were very straightforward and easy to follow. He's always there to help you if you have difficulty understanding the materials. He's passionate and gives you a one-week grace period to turn on your assignments without any point deduction. Best professor ever!!! Highly recommend!!!
Professor Davis is terrific!! He cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Zoom times available to connect with Professor or TAs. Class itself is workload heavy; Excel and database work. Online textbook. All work completed online. Modules due each week with one week grace period. Extra credit available. If you do the work, an easy class!
Jonathan Davis is a very good teacher. The class itself has a good amount of reading, nothing terrible, just 18 chapters of an Applied Business Computing Concepts E-Book. The other E-Book for Excel/SQL doesn't require reading, just watching the videos. Lots of assignments, but they rarely take longer than 10+ minutes, save tests.
Professor Jonathan was so close on follow up and providing current feedback on our performance. His continuous invitation to discuss on any issue and his availability with other TAs really helped me to feel at home which helped me to successively finish the course with A. I will definitely choose Professor Jonathan for my courses ahead. Thank you!
Really comprehensive. Understands that life happens and allows you to work around that. I really enjoyed taking his class, probably my favorite so far.
Professor Davis was one of the best professors I've ever had. I haven't been in school for a very long time let alone an online class and he was always checking up and letting me know how well I was doing in his class! He really seems to care about his students!
Such a great professor for an online course who showed his genuine interest in students! Very clear outline of what is expected. His course allows for independence and flexibility while also having structure and support to keep you on track.
Easy class and he is a sweetheart
The professor is probably one of the best at this university. He's helpful, responsive, and overall just so lovely! He's very flexible and understanding with concise expectations from us. He provides an ample amount of assistance and resources if needed be. Also the TA's were an absolute delight and so helpful, even with the mundane of queries.
Best professor I have had so far!
Great professor that provides great feedback.
Professor Davis was such an amazing professor! He took the time to get to know his students, encourage them, and was easily accessible for questions and concerns. I would highly recommend him to any students taking one of his courses!
Very high degree of correlation between homework and test materials. Work the practice problems and you will have zero difficulty with tests. ABCC text however, is a complete waste of space with very little citations an in depth content as would be expected in a university course
This professor was really helpful and consistently active throughout the course. He was on top of reminder for weekly assignments and for out-of-class tutoring sessions/aides available for additional help. He also took time to reach out to you personally every once in a while to check in and give any praises for your work up to that point.
Straightforward and easy to follow course. Assignment are due weekly with a grace period of a week for late assignments without penalty. At your own pace but still be mindful since some weeks can get homework heavy. Managed to get an A without the 4 extra credit opportunities. The instructor was very helpful during the semester as well the 3 TA's.
This class had a lot of assignments but were easy to digest. There is a lot of work associated with the class, but if you dedicate time to it daily you will no doubt succeed. There's also SO MANY resources for help and I felt like I could always ask questions, and get a response in a timely manner.
He is so nice and caring. He is very easy to take class and I learned so much about excel. I honestly can say this is by far my favorite professor. I like that he also gives you little reports and messages every week to check in on your progress in his class.
It was pretty heavy on workload and tests, but having Professor Davis made the class fun and easy. He checks in with you and provides detailed lectures so that you can understand the material better. I would take any class that he teaches.
Responds promptly and shows acknowledgment for your work.
for the online course i took, he was absolutely supportive and very genuine. he was super uplifting imo
Take this professor if you have the chance. This class has a somewhat heavy workload but this professor makes it bearable.
This course is honestly a lot of fun to take. This course is based on making sure you understand what is being taught without the worry of not doing well. There is extra credit and also grace period for late work. The instructor is very focused on being present and there for students on top of checking in and giving kind feedback/support.
Professor Davis was great! I had to take CIS 105 as a pre-requisite course and had zero interest in the material going into it. After taking the class, I think I might actually like excel and databases? Clear grading and ample room to practice executing the material. I'd happily take another course under Davis!
Easy going and reach out directly. Overall, great professor.
Professor Davis was amazing! I was intimidated by this class but he continually motivated me and went out of his way to applaud my work. He was very fair about due dates, and extensions and seemed to understand exactly the pressure that students feel, that other professors overlook. Super amazing professor!!
He is AWESOME!! Lectures were understandable for me especially being 48 yrs old. Completely recommend him.
Professor is involved and responsive. He will set you up for success.
He genuinely cares when you miss assignments. He is understanding and motivating.
I appreciated that Johnathan Davis was sensitive to the fact that so many of us have full time jobs and lots of responsibilities outside of school. Being able to work at my own pace helped me be able to do this course while not sacrificing my work or my home life.
Awesome professor, class was super flexible and you could turn in any assignment up to a week late and work ahead if you wanted.
Mr Davis was a great professor. For a few weeks straight I had straight A's in the class and he went out of his way to send a personalized email to congratulate me. He is easy going and his lessons are easy to grasp and dare I say, fun. 10/10 would take his class again
Fantastic Professor great lectures and knows his stuff. Very good class and he did a great job teaching it!
This was a required course and I started with some trepidation but soon found out I loved it! Once you understand how to used the different programs it was easy to get work done. It was a lot of work every week but for me it was fun. The SQL part on the otherhand was harder and the directions werent as easy to follow for the first of that lesson.
Jonathan was super nice and helpful whenever needed. Would definitely take him again!
The teacher for this class had a good outline for class work.
Sends mid-course emails to check-in with students, let them know how they are doing, and tell them what they could do better. Easily accessible, super laid back, and super caring. Also super interesting class with a great layout.
This was a really great instructor to learn under. He was knowledgeable, available within reason, and gave feedback too. This online course is really self-paced and can be easy but it is a lot of work per week. Start ahead with the beginning modules and you will quickly get a hang of the online structure. There is a grace-period for late work.
Professor Jonathan Davis is an exceptional educator, dedicated to his students' success. He is approachable, and responsive, and goes above and beyond to provide guidance. Any student learning from him will benefit greatly from his expertise and mentoring.
Great professor, just manage your time and do the work. He provides a one week grace period. Life happens so use that to your advantage. The TA's are a huge help if you get stuck. They have several zoom sessions that you can attend if needed.
The coursework can be a lot if you don't manage your time accordingly. However he gives a one week grace period for late work which is super helpful! A lot of extra credit is also available, and for every practice problem there is a video to lead you through it. Overall it was well structured, and doable if you manage your time!
Professor Davis is great! His CIS105 class is so flexible, and you have a week grace period to catch up on anything you may have missed. The textbooks are pretty self explanatory, the quizzes are open note/textbook and there are no real "tests" or final project. There are just excel assessments to see what you can do on your own.
Great class overall. Professor is very flexible and nice, he cares about his class. The Excel assignments are not so bad over the weeks they begin to get very easy. Overall I recommend this class to learn excel and to maintain an A
The professor recognizes his students for doing well. There's grace period which helped with busy schedule. I've received great knowledge on Excel with step by step videos. The only con is that sometimes it felt like a lot of work esp. if you are new to using computers but just follow the instructions very thoroughly and you should be ok. Easy A:)
Things get graded soon after you take the assignment. Make sure you pay attention and don't procrastinate and you stay on top of things. Chill professor.
Professor Davis and the CIS105 course were among the one I've truly enjoyed the most during my tenure at ASU. This course, the method of teaching and learning objectives truly focus on the value of learning more than the value of a grade and as such provide you with plenty of opportunities to explore the subject matter to best understand and learn.
For an online professor he is still really involved. This course is pretty self taught, due to the textbooks linking directly to assignments and the fact that I took it as an online course. But I was fully supported and whenever I had a question either he or a TA was there to support pretty quickly!
Very easy class if you stay on top of your homework. This is an EXCEL class. Jonathan gives you a week grace period to turn in all assignments for full credit. This tremendously helped me with this class. If you turn in an assignment after the grace period end, you will still get a grade but the max will be 75%. Highly recommend!
I LOVED this instructor! The grading was all done online through the online course work and was fairly graded. Many things had the option to do again and get a better score. The instructor was friendly and there was plenty of help through the TA's.
This was a great class I learned a lot and the material challenged me in the best way!
The course material requires participation, simply put. That said, Davis does an incredible job of organizing and pacing the material to ensure everyone is getting all they can out of the class. He sets the bar to the very top of what quality online instruction should look like.
Professor Davis is awesome. He went out of his way to reach out during the course and give me unprompted words of encouragement, you can tell he is invested in his students. I've never had another professor do that. Make sure to understand the content early on, because everything builds off of the week prior. If you do that, it will be manageable.
Great professor! Class work was pretty easy and we got lots of time to turn in work and given extra credit opportunities.
This professor gave a great number of notes and valuable information to help you learn everything needed to know in this class. The professor answered my questions and was involved with our development for the class i recommend him for every student.
Very good professor, that is responsive with questions and concerns in a timely matter. Easy-going class.
This professor made it clear his expectations on the first day of class. His assignments were pretty straightforward and he gave a grace period to turn in assignments. He also would message you every few weeks to tell you about your grades and points out your hard work and tries to boost your confidence in the course.
Fairly easy class with lots of time to complete assignments and extra credit. Professor Davis seems to really care about his students.
Really cares about students and ensuring they understand the material. The use of online software for practice and datasets is really easy to interact with.
In this class there were several assignments but you have plenty of time to complete them. There is TAs available for help and the professor is great at responding to emails and helping you out. I would 100% recommend you take this class and as a TIP, I would say, CAREFULLY read the instructions, it is very easy to miss something.
Professor Davis made the course easy to understand.
He was an awesome professor, put in more effort to create a welcoming environment for all his students even in an online setting without forcing you to do mandatory discussions, or anything else that seems like forced socializing.
He's a great online professor! Asynchronous learning was made easy w/ course resources, very organized. Any homework/test questions you answer incorrectly can be viewed along with their solutions through the computer-automated system that the professor requires you to use. I was worried about Excel before, but now I feel confident with the program.
An incredible professor and he genuinely cares about his students. Most of the class is just readings and videos and following those assignments. Fairly straightforward. If you stay on top of your assignments you'll pass the class easily. There were also moments of extra credit but seemed specific to my course. Sure each class session is unique.
If you have the opportunity to take Professor Davis, please do!!
Prof. Davis is just the best. Goes out of his way to make personal connections and support his students. The class is pretty easy as long as you read the textbooks and watch the videos provided. He gives unlimited attempts at homework, so no reason not to get 100%. Two attempts at end of chapter "tests" and you receive highest score. No exams.
Professor Davis was a fantastic teacher who was quick to respond to your emails. If you plan to take this course, keep in mind that it may be challenging to juggle it with another subject that requires a lot of homework. This class involves a substantial amount of assignments, and your grade heavily relies on quizzes and knowledge checks.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. This was my worst class I have had so far from ASU. If you think you are learning Excel, you are wrong. There is some Excel, but the majority of the lessons are ridiculous. If you do not know a lot about computers, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. It might say 105 (lower level), but this was NOT a lower level class. WORST CLASS
Assignments make 0 sense. Honestly one of the worst professors I have ever had. Very nasty via email & he plays victim when anyone reaches out to him because of "how many students are in the class". This course is just a tycoon for ASU to get more money. Instructor actually needs to be respectful to students and not just treat them like a number.
He is so rude over Canvas messaging and has the worst attitude. He treats you like you never read anything when no assignments have clear directions. It makes me regret picking ASU for my education and question what happens at WP Carey. Do better, ASU!
He was a fantastic professor! The only professor I ever had that made an effort to get to know students and was very reachable in case you needed help. Would take again if I could!
He clearly tells you at the beginning of the semester of what is expected. Provides plenty of assistance including multiple TA office hours. Also gives you leniency on submitting late work. If you pace yourself, do the reading assignments, and pace yourself you will be just fine.
do the work and you will be fine
Professor Davis was very present in the class which does not always happen with online courses. Expectations were very clear and upfront with no surprises other than additional extra credit opportunities. If you follow instructions, actually read and use the resources available to you if you need help, you'll have no trouble at all.
Gives a lot of opportunities for extra credit, can retake assignments to improve grade, and responds to emails quickly. I would highly recommend him!
Gives a lot of opportunities for extra credit, can retake assignments to improve grade, and responds to emails quickly. I would highly recommend him
First online course, and he made space to reach out , when I wasn't delivering assignments on time. He took the time to check in on me and ensured I had everything I needed in order to succeed in this course. I got an A in this class. After he reached out, I felt inspired and motivated to try my best.
CIS 105 was not exactly easy, but it was filled with skills you will definitely be able to use in most careers. You need to put time in and do the work. Don't wait until the last minute like I did a few times because to catch back up takes some serious time.
Good professor, good class. I enjoyed the content of the class and it was pretty useful in my work life.
Jonathan Davis is a very emotionally mature professor and wants you to succeed in this class. The course was super easy, but it is fast paced with 2x the extra homework than a regular course. You will have to know what you learned in the chapters in order to pass the tests, there is no loop hole so keep up with homework.
I took this class online and professor Davis was very helpful and informative, which can be difficult as an online professor. He consistently kept us up to date on the assignments and sent encouraging messages to keep us motivated which I really appreciated. I would definitely recommend taking his course.
This professor is strict but fair.
I really enjoyed the course and they style in which it was set up. The professor was professional but also kind. Office hours with the professor and TA's were in abundance, so there was always help available if needed. This class does carry a heavy workload.
Easy concepts to grasp with tutorial videos. Heavy on excel, minor on DBMS programs (AirTable), kind of impossible not to succeed if you put in the work. 3% extra credit was offered to my class, and I personally didn't use it. Professor provides clear feedback and TAs are available to assist.
Such an easy going guy with easy to do materials. Would do this class again.
Great professor! Highly recommend! He is very kind and flexible! If you spend enough time practicing the concepts from tutorials, and ask questions, you will have a very enjoyable time learning Excel/SQL and Business Computing Concepts.
Great caring professor. Prof Davis was the nicest prof. I've had so far. There was lots of work in the class to be done, but Prof Davis has a great due date system. I really liked he took the time to write me a personalized e-mail about my hard work in the class and my A grade. Def would take another Prof Davis class again.
Great communication and help is available quickly! So far this is my best experience with an ASU Prof!
Class starts easy but gets a little more challenging towards the end, but a healthy practice on what is currently being used challenging.
Class is relatively easy and has many resources available for any problems or difficulties you do encounter. Lots of graded assignments, but the workload was never overwhelming as long as you kept up, and I genuinely felt like I was learning useful skills nearly the entire time. And a plus, the prof. is very friendly and kind.
This prof. cares about his students even if the class is online. He will reach out and make sure you're okay and let you go at your own pace if need be based on life circumstances. Super understanding professor.
Great professor! Course was well organized and he truly wants students to succeed in the class by being able to apply the information learned.
Professor Davis shows genuine care and respect for his students and was cognizant of boundaries and connections. The material was good but slightly difficult. Professor Davis reached out constantly to check in and provide feedback, he also took the time to learn about us and gave insight about himself. Great professor and great course!
Professor Davis is so AWESOME!! I truly enjoyed taking his class. The work can be challenging but is so beneficial to learn and he has so many resources to help you!
I loved this class. Was it challenging? YES, coming from someone with 0 experience in excel or with SQL. However, I learned a TON and I'm super thankful that the professor was a kind person with a focus on how well you are learning the material and a very supportive attitude. That is super refreshing. Thanks Jonathan!
I enjoyed relearning some of the material and learning some new things.
Very easy class
easy class but lots of time spent on excel. the videos help a lot when it comes to doing the assignments.
CIS105 with Jonathan Davis was a great class. I learned a lot about excel and SQL, and the reading wasn't too long.
Very easy class with clearly communicated expectations and requirements. They have a one week full credit policy that if you fall behind you can still get full credit, which makes it very online and life friendly. I thoroughly enjoyed the class.
Was very understanding throughout the course and the flexibility made it easier to tackle the homework. Grace period is generous and overall a pretty easy course if you follow along with the videos. Would take this prof again!
Professor Davis sets his students up for success. As long as you do the assignments on time, you should do well. He also had 2 TA's ready to help, with availability every day. Highly recommended this professor.
This course is a lot of work, but the material is great! I'm not a computer science major but I had a lot of fun getting to learn about excel and intro to coding, made me rethink my major a few times
This was an amazing class that I truly enjoyed! He was very caring and you can tell he truly cared about your education. I hope to take another one of his classes in the future!
Very understanding and reasonable professor who knows his material. Understands what it's like to work a full-time job while being in school full-time. I wish all professors were like Jonathan.
Prof. Davis's CIS 105 would benefit from being a full semester course, not just 7.5 weeks. His direct engagement, in Zoom sessions, is needed. Extending the course would aid deeper understanding and ease student stress, enhancing the learning experience with the extensive technical content. Prof. cares very passionately for his students success!
Great intro class. As another said, it would be very beneficial for this to be an entire semester-long class that went more in-depth. I came into it knowing nothing about SQL and very little about Excel and came out feeling confident in my newly acquired skills. He was responsive, funny, and personable. I now follow his dog on Instagram :-D
Professor Davis definitely wants everyone to succeed in his class. He gives more than enough resources for every student to do so. His lecture were detailed and easy to understand. He is able to relay the material so easily. I am so glad to have had him my first semester here at ASU!
The professor is so kind and truly cares about his students. He takes the time to get to know everyone and makes sure everyone feels supported since there is a lot of work in this class. He is always prompt to respond about everything you need, & he has an awesome extra week grace period so you can work at your own pace!
Jonathan was very clear, and thorough with the coursework. He provided constructive feedback and clear guidance. He was very professional, but at the same time very personable and approachable. I found him to be very insightful and would be thrilled to take another of his courses.
I like the class layout; the modules clearly outline the lesson plan, and are displayed in different formats to appeal to various learning styles. My only criticism is that one or two lectures referenced outdated processes, like setting up an API. I do appreciate the TAs and scribe sessions to sort out these problems live.
This was easily one of the greatest experiences I've had for a college class. Professor Davis was extremely helpful, and even reached out to me personally through email several times just to make sure I was doing okay with class. The coursework was directly reflected off of the textbook as well as the video lectures. Professor Davis rocks!!!!!!
He will help you to the best that he can and he is there to help you succeed
He was mindful of those who was affected by hurrican Milton. I appreciate that he gave people time to get their lives together and worked with everyone.
It's an excel class. So, be prepared for multiple assignments and tests on these skills. You can work ahead and even turn in work a week late with no penalty. A hurricane hit while I was taking this class, and he extended the due dates. It's good to see a professor go out of their way to help out students who may have been impacted
I recommend Professor Davis for this class and other classes he teaches! He was very caring when the class first started, and he would send out check-in emails. The class layout was very straightforward, he was always willing to help, and he extended a grace period for Hurricane Milton which was very respectful.
This was one of the kindest professors I've had. He made an effort to get to know us in a way that felt personal and caring. He also gave us a week-long grace period for late work which did so much for my mental health; I was struggling with burnout this term so I needed that. I took this as a gen ed course but I wish I could work w/ him again!
The teacher had a very flexible schedule policy with extra credit opportunities and tutoring almost daily. The class is just very time consuming and there is alot of formulas to rmemorize, which if put in slightly wrong will deduct points and not tell you why it's wrong.
Professor Davis is one of the best professors I have had at ASU, so far. As most have said, he takes the time to get to know you and checks in when needed to see how he can help. Honestly, you have no excuse to fail this class. If you don't understand something his TAs are always there to help. 10/10 would take again.
The professor is very open with communication for his students. Although, the course was demanding of time as the assignments are a bit time consuming, the professor makes it a point to give extensions and grace periods for assignments to help his students be successful. He really strives to support his students.
Learning about Excel & its various uses while implementing formulas was a great brain stimulus. The other half of the assignments involved reading from the provided textbook & a 20Q test. Provided textbook provides narration, change of speed and the textbook is separated in short concise chapters making it easier to read.
It was a good class. I had to reach out a couple of times due to grading issues, and Professor Davis responded quickly and fairly. I highly recommend taking the class; I learned a lot about Excel.
Did not feel supported by him at all. I felt like a name in his class and not like a real person who has other responsibilities outside of college.
Jonathan Davis is a wonderful instructor! His Canvas page was all set up and posted on the first day of class. The entire Canvas page was very organized, thorough, easy to follow, and is by far the best I have ever seen! The subject matter can be difficult at times, but it is taught very well in a clear way that makes it easy and fun to learn!
The class went by very quickly and I learned a lot! It was easy to figure out what was right or wrong with the assignments before submitting and the feedback was very helpful. I would take his class again if I could! He was my favorite professor so far!
This class was fun and informative, just be ready to put the work in, it is self guided so just make sure you have the will power to get it done, there are no time limits, so if you want to do extra work you can, the extra credit was fun and a great way to make sure that you understand what you were learning!
Professor Jonathan Davis and his team to make the students feel like they belong and checked on them as the Lessons started to get harder
Taught some outstanding things in regards to Excel. This class ramps up in difficulty but you're going to have a great time at the beginning. Grading is all done via the automated browser, does give hints in lectures on what you should study. Honestly love this professor.
Professor Davis was AMAZING! The coursework can be time consuming but if you watch the videos they help alot. All in all, a very great professor, extremely easy A+ if you do the work.
Good class and I learned a lot. I had questions if I was graded correctly and he would say yes you were, and not provide any further context or help with what I was doing incorrectly. Overall, he's a nice Professor though, I can tell he cares.
This professor truly cares about his students. He even bumped up my grade in the end. He had a great grace period if needed(I personally didn't use it). There were extra credit opportunities if you needed them. There was a lot of coursework to be done, but it was still manageable. I learned a lot through this class. Highly recommend him for CIS105!
I really appreciated his approach to completing work on a schedule that works best for me.
Professor Jonathan Davis is an outstanding instructor who excels at presenting material with clarity and precision. His teaching style is highly engaging, blending thorough explanations with practical examples that make topics easy to grasp. He fosters an inclusive and encouraging classroom environment, ensuring every student feels supported.
Professor Davis is very good at his job. Even just upon opening the canvas course page for the first time, it is evident that he understands computers well and knows what he is talking about. Two weekly quizzes and lots of homework, multiple tries for each. No final. Makes sure to check on his students. Course is simple if you watch the videos.
I took this class to fulfill my CS requirement and surprisingly enjoyed it. The entire course was open from day one so you could work ahead. The professor allowed multiple attempts on all assignments, most of which kept your highest score. As someone who isn't great with computers, I believe that as long as you put in the effort, you will do well.
I had a great experience in the class. There is a lot to learn quickly, but the professor is always available to help when needed and has a fantastic group of tutors. I would recommend this class.
He responds really fast to any questions (I mean like within the hour fast) and the grading criteria was clear and transparent from the very start. The assignments themselves were pretty easy as long as you have at least sort-of read the material.
Class was enjoyable and easy to cruise through. He set up the class as what you would expect an online class to be like.
Made an online class feel more personal by constantly reaching out! Loved him!
Great course, tutoring options available if you're struggling. This professor wants you to be successful. Would take a course by this professor again.
This professor wants you to succeed. There are tutoring options available if you're struggling. Follow the lectures/modules, and plan accordingly, it is manageable. I did forget to watch the actual lecture video after the reading assignment one time, don't forget that step. Sometimes he will include valuable info for the tests in the lectures.
Recommend this professor. Online class is pretty straightforward and very forgiving. You can move at your own pace and even complete work after the due date, up until the last day, for partial credit. Class is straightforward as long as you put in effort. Teaching Assistants also have lots of office hours. Professor also tries to be personable.
I chose this Professor based off the reviews on here, I was not disappointed. Read the syllabus, do the work in timely manner, attend tutoring or ask questions in the InScribe community, professor / TA will assist. Lots of tutoring offered from the TAs.
The quizzes are easy, based off readings (open book quizzes). Test are based off the homework, if you struggle with the homework, you'll struggle on the test. Many tutoring sessions were offered by the TAs. TAs & Professor are accessible outside of class. InScribe was also used as another form of communication with the entire class.
Super awesome and easy class! Weekly tests based on readings that aren't timed and are open book/note. The assignments have videos you can watch if you're struggling, and work is accepted until the last class day for partial credit. All assignments have a 1 week grace period after the due date with no points taken off.
Chosen based on reviews and I'm glad I did. This class is hard to fail or even get a bad grade in unless you can't grasp Excel worksheets. All exams are open-book, and not timed. Detailed videos available for all assignments. TAs available daily for those needing help. You can work ahead and the late penalty is VERY forgiving. Offers extra credit.
Great class, there is really no reason anyone should fail this class!
Professor Davis is very lenient with due dates, and his lectures break the material down into very easy-to-understand points. This class was 90% worksheets on Microsoft Excel, but it was pretty easy, and now I can officially say I know how to use Excel on my resumes :)
Professor Jonathan Davis is outstanding at what he does and provides much care and support towards his students throughout the class. 100% I would take his class again.
Great Teacher and Excellent Course.
Jonathan is a very thorough communicator who clearly states his expectations for class students. Working ahead was paramount in my situation, and canvas was very well laid out and allowed me to do so without penalty.
Jonathan was a good professor. The assignments can be difficult, but there are multiple opportunities for office hours during the week. You can also retake all assignments until you receive a 100 and tests up to 3 times.
Great professor, would definitely take again and he was an easy grader!
Jonathan Davis was a great professor. He has tons of resources and is willing to help whenever or however he can. The content is so much easier to understand with the videos ad the reading. i was so nervous to take this class and after having taken it I would take it again if I could.
Really good class, I actually learned things I'll use in life. Thanks professor!
Overall a really easy course if actually try to understand the functions instead of trying to blow through everything. You could retake things until 100% except for the book quizzes which were still easy.
His videos are clear and concise
Less of a professor and more of "that" annoying IT guy from foreign country. Class wasn't bad and was good and self learning. But if you have an issue with the autograder, don't expect help but instead expect "passive aggressive" IT attitude from professor. Horrible people skills and unhelpful. If you can avoid him then you should be ok.
I appreciated how well this class was structured! You are able to turn in work a week after the deadline with no penalty. Tests = extra attempts to correct your work, test grade is an average of up to 3 submissions. Quizzes = 2 attempts, keep the highest score. Most of the class is Excel, and the last 2 weeks are a brief introduction to SQL.
The course is well-organized with a heavy workload—readings, video lectures, homework, and tests. The professor offers 3–4 extra credit chances and has a flexible one-week late policy. Both the professor and TAs are accessible and daily live help sessions make it easy to get support when needed.
The online course is well-organized and has a heavy workload: readings, video lectures, homework, and tests. There are 3 - 4 extra credit assignments to help boost your grade and a flexible one-week late policy before assignments are locked. The professor and TAs are accessible, and daily live help sessions make it easy to get support when needed.
I would absolutely take this class again. I did CIS 105 fully online Fall 2024). It was all around a VERY easy course until the last couple of weeks. You get a week grace period to complete each week's assignments. Get through the first part of class quickly so you have more time to learn the harder material at the end.
This class was easy to take. Although, each week presented a lot of assignments & a knowledge check test due at the end of the week. There are guiding videos that show you how to do the spreadsheets correctly so this class should be an easy A, as long as you complete all assignments. There's also extra credit assignments to help boost your grade.
This was a very easy class! The textbooks are a bit dry, but the Excel problems are fun and super simple once you get the concepts. You can also repeat the quizzes, practice problems, and skills tests to improve your scores. There is no reason why you shouldn't get an A+ in the course, so long as you do the work.
He was ok, the feedback received on graded assignments was subpar. I submitted grade appeals, and he would not tell me what I did wrong. I do not appreciate some of his personal initiatives.
Heavy workload with lots of reading and Excel work. I had to take it as my only class this session to keep up while balancing a full-time job, three kids, and a household. TA support is great, but the professor isn't very personal. Manage your time well.
I can't. Just stay away from him. I didn't realize most of the five-star reviews were fake until the end of the class.
The professor is quite active in the class, but it's obvious he has a lot of students to deal with. Still, this class was well organized, grading was super-clear, and the extra credit opportunities were fantastic. I can see efforts of him trying to be more personable, but I don't think it's needed. The class is the class, and it's a good class.
This class is not difficult. The professor literally provides you with everything you need to be successful. If you fail this class, you simply did not try whatsoever. There are video tutorials, unlimited homework attempts, and three attempts for the tests. I learned so much about Excel and Airtable. It'll be so useful for my bookkeeping job.
He was very clear and checked in every week with assignments that were due. I appreciated the layout and expectations in his syllabus and posts in canvas. He also was accessible and ensured we knew when and how to contact him with questions and concerns.
This is by far one of the best professors I have had since joining ASU. The class content itself is a bit difficult and time consuming, however the professor makes a point to reach out to each student individually. You are allowed to go at your pace and are allowed a week of leniency. This definitely helped when life got hectic outside of school
Professor Davis was amazing. I found his sense of humor amusing, which made the lectures fly-by. Do the homework, reach out to him or his Teacher Assistants early if you need help, and you will be fine on the quizzes.Make sure to reference the book. Very interesting concepts are learned and as long as you put in effort, you will be fine!
The class was super easy for someone that already knows there way around computers and basic Microsoft skills. My issue is that I asked a simple question asking for help on the community forum and the professor took down my post and threatened to do something to my grade. After that I didn't ask any more questions.
He's a nice guy so if you have an extra 400hrs per week to dedicate to this one class, take it. Also if you want to learn SQL fluently as a freshman even if it has nothing to do with your degree also take it. If you don't want to be driven to the edge of insanity probably don't take it.
Class was easy, do all the assignments as best as you can. Class is lecture heavy if you have never used Excel previously. The professor is not much help with disputing scores, especially when certain graded assignments have misleading or broad questions related to what you went over in certain modules.
This professor goes out of his way to make sure that students are learning of the best of their ability. The course is developed in a professional, but understandable way. There are clear guidelines and the expectations are known from the beginning of the course. I would recommend this professor to anyone who needs to take these classes.
Super easy and love the check list style.
Some of the modules can be very difficult but he is very easy to reach and any resource you need it provided to you there is also very clear guidelines of when everything is due and he's very communicative so you won't miss anything
Professor Davis was an engaging and organized instructor who made the online learning experience surprisingly smooth. This was my first online class. The course was challenging, but the modules were well-designed to help students manage the workload effectively.
Took this class for Spring Term A. The professor was very sweet and active in class. The coursework is easy as long as you do the reading. There are knowledge checks based on the material, and hands-on work in Excel. There were four opportunities for extra credit! Would very much recommend taking this course by him!
I will surely say to 100% ask for help because he will give it! My grade was solely due to complications I was having, not only with another class but also in my personal life, which caused me to slip in turning in assignments, and I got lazy. He continued to email me to at least attempt the homework, and I appreciate it.
Professor Davis is professional and kind. He has clearly spent the time it takes to make his course perfect. As long as you watch the videos and complete the practice problems you will be set up for success. For more difficult modules, he tends to provide extra helpful resources.
His instruction videos were good, but I did not like that he wasn't available outside of class, yet he pretended to be. Every time I followed his LENGTHY instructions to the T for help with issues, he would send a generic, automated response that I did not follow instructions. I hope you're resourceful because you're on your own in this class.
The thing I love most about his class is every assignment is able to be submitted for full credit a week after its due date. It was super helpful on weeks I had more work outside this class to focus on. Such a good experience, even though I sucked at excel the workload was bareable and easy to navigate.
Great class, if you stay on task it is very simple. No midterm or final just complete assignments and can work ahead if you have the time. I genuinely enjoyed this class. As a full time employee and busy mom of 3 boys this was absolutely manageable. Just really appreciate professors that give a reasonable load of work and understand we have lives.
This course was 100% online and I enjoyed the tools the professor selected for us to use. The lectures were informational and not long in length. The grading system was clear and allowed for re-doing most of the assignments to increase your grade.
A professor that cares about his students and checks in often. I like that he has a community board so students can ask questions and help each other as soon as possible so you're not waiting for one person's help only. The reading material and assignments are clear and his grading is fair with more than one attempt which is very helpful.
Very very easy class and a really good teacher! Honestly, I feel like you can only get a bad grade in this class if you don't pay attention and put the time in. There's a lot of homework, but it's all easy if you read the directions and listen to all the videos. He also has tutors who can help you if you're having a hard time.
Class was a breeze, dont get too far behind cause the work can pile up. Does offer extra credit, but not necessary if you do all the work. Accepts late work up to a week with no point deduction. Love classes like this.
Gave us a week long grace period after the assignments of the week were due. Never had a teacher do that and it helped me a lot.
This was one my favorite classes! You can tell that he truly cares about his students and his role in the academic community. His expectations are crystal clear and he offered a 1 week grace period. He gives you a spreadsheet to help stay on top of your course load/due dates. If you do the work, it's an easy A. I highly recommend this professor!
Excellent professor in communication and knowledge, lots of reading and videos but all worth it if you want to do well in the class. Don't procrastinate
All of the assignments are straight forward and offers additional videos to help understand course material. He has a grace period which makes the class a lot easier to manage but due dates are consistent each week. He has worked out all of the kinks of the class and makes sure you're prepared. Don't like the subject but would take again with him.
Jonathan sent thoughtful announcements encouraging us not to skip over things, his advice felt real and relatable. He cares about your time management and checks on you if he sees you're struggling. The course was easy to follow and super fun. But I took advantage of the one-week grace period and fell behind, so don't make the same mistake!
Pretty easy material. The textbooks are online and quizzes that followed were easy. The professor sent out reminders for deadlines and made the class easy to follow. The videos that go along with assignments help a alot.
Professor is encouraging throughout his online course. The material in class is set in a user friendly. Professor is also engaging, relatable and truly feel like he wants success from all
Lengthy instructions. Hopefully you don't have any issues because he'll send you message telling you that you just didn't follow instructions. Pretty much a typical "online instructor". Chances for extra credit are good though.
Jonathan was a solid instructor for this asynchronous online class. Even though the course was self-paced, he was always available when I needed help and responded quickly to questions. Instructions were clear, the workload was manageable, and he made the online format feel supported. Overall, a reliable and helpful professor for an async course.
CIS 105 was extremely difficult for me. I had no prior Excel experience, and I basically had to teach myself using YouTube for every assignment because the lectures were so hard to follow. The class moves fast and assumes you already know a lot, so be ready to learn everything on your own. You need to be very precise.
There is a lot of assignments due every week, however I believe it was 1 week flexibility offered. Nice guy. Im sure most will finish with an A in this course even if you aren't the best at the material being taught.
Jonathan worked hard to make an online asynchronous course engaging. His recorded lectures did a good job of tying the content in the book together. He provided personal feedback at several points throughout the course. He and his TAs hosted many office hours sessions throughout the week.
Professor Jonathan Davis' teaching style combines clarity, compassion, and consistent support. He excels at breaking down complex concepts into accessible, engaging explanations that resonate with students at all levels. His lectures are thoughtfully structured and always delivered with energy
Professor Davis was very transparent and communicative throughout the class. The course was well structured with clear guidelines and plenty of resources for help. The tools used in the class were helpful and immersive, which aided in my ability to grasp and retain the information taught.
Professor Davis is an excellent professor. The material was laid out and pretty easy to follow. He engages with everyone, and even sent out a private message to everyone to introduce himself and ask us questions about ourselves. He's very passionate about his work, and it made me more excited for this course. Definitely recommend Professor Davis!!
Overall very good Professor and assignments were very helpful to understand. lecture videos were very detailed and understandable for a online students like me.
This instructor was not a good fit for a student like me. He's not sympathetic to adults having life challenges and he's not willing to help once you fall behind. This instructor can be very sarcastic. He may be a good instructor but not for students with special needs.
The professor and the academic team did a fantastic job! The course material was very relevant to future business applications. There were good resources available to help you understand the material, as well as opportunities for extra credit.
I took CIS105 as an online course and was most impressed with the instructor's office hours. There was plenty of availability to meet and get help when needed. I only had to use office hours once, and it took less than 15 minutes to resolve my issue. Very accessible and helpful instructor.
Professor Davis had so many students, but still made time for a few personal messages of encouragement and interaction. I didn't need help for this class, but if I had, I don't doubt he would have been there ready.
Great Class, very informative, professor is very accessible and personable
