Very good and funny professor, explains very well. I learned mostly from his notes, since the book wasn't that good. All you have to do is go to his class, write everything down and STUDY after class. Got an A!
Great professor! He explains the concepts really well. He is also very nice. He doesn't follow the book completely but he tests on what he teaches
One of the nicest, most conscientious professors I've ever had. Prof Gersch cares about the class understands the topic and works very hard to accommodate everyone. Very clear notes and tests are based on them. If you practice and study his notes you have no excuse for failing. You won't have a better Stats teacher!
Do not take this professor. You will ruin your GPA. His tests are very tricky. He is not helpful at all. Statistics is not an easy subject and he makes it even harder.
Good Professor, hard subject. Expect to learn most of the things on your own. He is a good professor that explains well, however he is quite monotonous causing you to not pay attention unless you have a special aptitude in the field. But beware, VERY HARD CLASS / SUBJECT!!
Gersch is an extremely hardworking professor, who truly cares about all of his students. His class is very entertaining, which helps makes statistics enjoyable to learn. Besides that he teaches in a way that makes the subject manner very easy to understand. I definitely recommend him and I consider him one of the best professors in Baruch.
Boring professor. Class is extremely hard, so be aware. One midterm 6 quizzes drops 2, online hw and a very hard final. Curves the final, which is why I went from a D to a C. Like the previous person said expect to teach yourself.
Nice and funny. Will help if you need it. Does not use blackboard, does not follow the textbook or online homework website, and does not provide any ppt slides. The only way you can learn is via the lectures. If you miss a class or don't get his teaching style, which many kids didn't, expect a C grade or lower.
His classes are extremely confusing. Did the people that rate him high took the same class that I did? He is constantly interrupting the lesson to make silly jokes. It's very distracting. In addition, very few examples are given for each lesson; not enough exercises to understand how to apply the theoretical concepts. I wouldn't take him again
This guy convinced me to major in quant. modeling. Makes corny jokes but funny in his own way. Class is hard. Study & take notes! What he writes on board is on tests. Read book and focus on theory not just math! Cheatsheet on tests! Class is hard. Im an A student and was expecting a B+ but ended up with A because of curving. TAKE HIM
Explains things pretty clearly. Makes corny jokes, very jittery guy. Very helpful; extends homework deadlines, sends lots of emails with practice questions and help before exams. Overall, a teacher with a real passion for statistics who helps you get the highest grade attainable.
His class is extremely confusing. He don't teach at all and exams are very hard.
His class seems to be easy but is not! He does very few examples in class so expect to teach yourself. Final was hard. I got a 95 on my midterm and did good on my quizes yet, i got a C as a final grade. If you are risky then take him.
He's actually a great professor. You might have trouble staying focused because he's a jittery guy and can waste time but in the end he explained the material very well. I was scared because I read all these comments before i took the class but I'm glad I did because he was a great experience. honestly, the key was just paying attention in class.
He is a good professor but he goes over the material so quickly. You really have to study and pay attention to class to get a good grade!
This Professor is awesome. "It's always good to talk about Statistics. I can cure!"
Tough class, intro-stat can be hard to explain and he doesnt do very well explaining it. def have to take the time and work on it yourselves. 6 quizzes throughout the semester (drops lowest 2) , 6 questions each , which definitely helps as long as you prepare for them. Midterm wasnt too bad, but final was tough,Even with the 1 sheet allowed. A-
Best teacher ever.
This professor wasn't helping at all with an already hard class. I'd email him and he'd never email back. You go up to him about office hours and he'd pretty much tell you to come up to him after class with questions. He doesn't grab your attention at all; people would fall over their seats from passing out. I'd never recommend him.
Best Stats prof I know.
If you come to every class and seriously pay attention, you will understand everything 100% because the way he explains things just tattoos on your brain. I gotta pretty good grade without opening the textbook. His exams are solely based on class notes, although homework assignments may require textbook. He's pretty funny and enthusiastic.
This is the guy you want to take. Makes everything clear by using simple to understand examples. Plus he's got Stat jokes for days.
Pay attention during his lecture. Sound easy? Wrong. His lectures are super boring. But he has a sense of humor. I didn't need the text book, but was required to buy it for the MSL code. Just take good notes, and you'll be fine.
Legend. This guy is passionate about statistics to say the least. Corny jokes for days. Presents material clearly. I like that he explains the theory behind each concept, it really helps grasp the material when put into practice. He'll give you daily words to enhance your vocabulary too. Take him and you will CONCUR.
Prof. Gersch is great. Simplifies material and explains everything really well. 6 quizes, drops 2. My stat lab is more difficult than his quizzes, midterm, and final. Reopens my stat lab homework if you ask him to. Attendance is not mandatory, but you will miss the material/quiz. He is very funny and makes jokes during class.
Very solid lecture! Don't have to buy a textbook but in order to get a sense of what he will cover in class then you need one. And for mystatlab you might need one as well. All in all, the class might not be easy to get A but very productive to understand the world of Statistics! I must concur
I took Prof. Gersch in the summer. I thought stats would be difficult to take in the summer, but he made it super easy. He gave 1 midterm and 1 final, but had in-class quizzes and mystatlab homework. He would even open all the hws at once so you didn't have to buy mystatlab. Take him. I did well on the midterm, bombed the final and got an A.
Great professor! Explains everything slowly and carefully. Also a very nice man. Greatly recommended.
Great guy. Truly passionate about statistics, and if you appreciate his brand of humor you'll have a way to stay awake in what's otherwise a boring subject. Messed up on the final and still got an A. You want to take him, he's probably the best of the intro statistics professors. Only warning - he's really slow to respond to e-mails!
This guy is hysterical. Class may be extremely boring most days but he tries to spice it up with jokes and saying. He really cares about teaching the topic slowly and thoroughly. An A definitely achievable!
A good teacher for stats. He makes the course like stats engaging but some days the topics were still boring, not his fault tho. Make sure your notes are organized and do statslab but pay attention to his examples in class because the quizzes and tests are similar to those. He also gives outlines and reviews which is a plus but still a hard class.
Best Prof in stats department. He has a very dry sense of humor and cares about the material. It makes a big difference. Doesn't curve.
Good news- you don't need the textbook. Bad news- this isn't exactly an easy class but he makes it pretty fun and as simple as possible. I recommend taking it over the summer like i did, no department final. The midterm was pretty easy, but i remember struggling badly with the final.
Really nice guy but not the best teacher. His lectures are confusing and all over the place. But again a nice caring professor.
He is all over the place and makes you confuse. If you want to pass, you have to be self thought and study harder. He is though grader and his tests are hard. There are six quizzes, midterm, and final. I don't recommend him if you want to learn the subject well and get good grade.
One of the best Stat Professor at Baruch. Very detailed. Just pay attention and go over class notes and you will be fine.
Professor Gersch is an amazing professor, who makes Stats interesting. His Lectures are very helpful. Just pay attention in class and take notes, you don't need to read the book.
You have to attend class for his notes in order to pass. Quizzes and exams aren't hard if you pay attention, he goes over them ahead of time. He allows cheat sheet for exams. No textbook needed, but MyStatLab is very helpful.
Prof. Gersch is amazing and hilarious teacher! He made this stat class so easy and interesting that I really felt sad when I realized that semester was over. Lectures give a lot of useful info that you will need to pass the course, so don't skip the class, and get ready to learn. Other than that it was just great! Everyone should concur D))
He is a funny guy. Six quizzes, but drops the lowest two. One midterm and one final, doesn't curve. Go to class and pay attention and you will be fine.
Take his class for statistics!! He is so funny and so helpful, if you do your part you will get an A. He wants everyone to do well.
Professor Gersch makes a hard subject easy to understand. His tests and quizzes are modeled after examples that he goes through in class. The mystatlab homework really helps to make you understand the material. Take Professor Gersch!
straight up gshmak. easy take.
One of the best classes I've taken at Baruch! His passion for statistics is evident, and infectious; I'm not particularly great at math but actually loved the challenge of learning stats this semester. He's willing to stay after class to review material, and wants everyone to do well. Work hard, and don't be afraid to ask questions.
As long as you pay attention during class and study from your notes, you'll do well in this class. Take him - I'm sure everyone who has had him will concur;)
Taking professor Gersch should be a rite of passage for all Zicklin students!! Amazing professor, very funny, and lectures can sometimes feel all over the place but he always specifies what will be on the test. Also, tests have no curves or extra credit so study! 4/6 quizzes are graded. Very passionate about stats, MSL also helps a lot. Yea, YEA!!!
The midterm and final are harder than the lecture and they are a big part of your grade. There is no curve so if you get like 5 questions wrong, that's around a 85 and you will have to get a perfect score on the final to get an A in this class. The lecture can be boring but he tries to make it fun, I think we should all concur
horrible. and unorganized
While hes funny and energetic at times, overall hes okay. He wasnt really able to teach over zoom as his in person classes were definetly better. Also, I thought it was highly unfair that, for the online tests, he didnt allow us to make changes to questions after we answered them. Not very generous of him. Wouldnt take again if it was online.
do not take if online. He is unorganized & incapable of online lectures. He was a better professor in person. His midterm is mostly mathematical, but his final is mostly concepts. Had no review classes which made it hard to do well on the exams. However, he his one of the best options in the stat department at Baruch, bc the rest suck so good luck.
Didn't compromise at all and seemed unwilling to help students learn during covid. He was lazy af he took multiple days off and then expected us to learn the whole syllabus even though he only spent a few minutes muttering through the most difficult topics. Don't take him if it's online.
Absolutely terrible online, was actually decent in person, but when we went online he no longer wrote notes on the board instead he scribbled gibberish on a piece of paper which he held with his mfing shaky hand. Didn't upload any documents on blackboard, didn't answer emails regarding concept questions, didn't teach! F this dude!
Worst prof I've had in college I can't even begin to list all his bs
He was actually funny and a good teacher when in person. After we started learning online he couldn't adapt and was very unclear explaining the topics and about what we would be tested on. Khan academy taught me everything he was 0% help. Easily the most unorganized teacher I've ever had.
Stop sending so many fing emails and teach
The worst
Prof Gersch is the best stat prof ever! Simply the best!
I really don't know what some people have against this guy. Prof. Gersch stated all requirements, his lectures were clear and thorough, easy to understand with good examples. MSL gave good practice to reinforce concepts learned in class. Very methodical in class, also very caring - wants everyone to do well. Attend class, do hw, and you'll do well.
An A is definitely within reach. The only way to do well is to go to class and practice after.
STA 2000 is a tough class but Prof. Gersch is just an amazing teacher. He not only thoroughly understands statistics top to bottom, he can relate it to other topics and if always willing to help any student. If you really want to learn, get the book!!, but hes such a good professor that if you show up to the lectures and take notes your good!!
In-person: He wrote notes on the board and explained everything clearly. I'm terrible at stats but I was doing well. Online: Hard for me to learn online, he wrote notes on a piece of paper and held it up to the camera. Screenshot them! Didn't format exams/quizzes properly on Blackboard. My grades fell and he emailed me to see if I was ok.
His in-person lectures were actually great and engaging. He's kinda weird but he knows his stuff. Then comes online teaching. Absolute chaos. He showed his paper notes in front of camera for 2 seconds. Make sure to screenshot!!
Literally horrendous online. Don't take this man, dudes a straight up BOOMER. Holds up notes to the camera and just rambles. Avoid at all costs! Got an A cuz I learned the whole subject on my own accord. Not worth!
Prof Gersch is kind and cares about his students! He is an expert at Stats and explains the concepts CLEARLY; which is very important in this subject. Easy tests and hw. Book is unnecessary to read. Doing the homework and practice ?s he sends helps one understand the subject. Great sense of humor and engaging lectures. Energetic and passionate!!!
Awesome professor, should have a 6 star rating. Don't be lazy.
BEST Stats professor at Baruch!!! Energetic and passionate about the subject matter. Clear explanations and funny. Likes to combine letters from student names into familiar states; surprised how he thinks about all this. A lot of concurring involved and mentions student names randomly throughout lectures. ;) SOOO enjoyable to listen to him!!!
Not a great professor. Holds up notes to the camera for you to write down. Has no respect for students time. The reviews below are just lies...
Not great. Could learn to be better with technology.
Horrible teacher. AVOID AT ANY COSTS! Made stats so hard just for the credit! I REPEAT. DO. NOT. TAKE.
I won't lie to you. This class can be fast-paced and confusing if you miss a single lecture and/or don't pay attention. But if you're a studious person who can keep up, you'll do great. He's one of the better choices for STA 2000! Just don't forget to screenshot his notes because he writes down his notes and shows it to the camera.
I don't know why Professor Gersch has such low ratings. He is an absolutely amazing professor and the people who are saying to avoid him didn't pay attention in his class. If you go to class, pay attention to what he's saying, and take pictures or notes of his written notes, this class is an easy A. Take him, he's also really funny :)
1 midterm, 1 final, 6 quizzes, and homework was on MyStatLab. He was very caring and wanted students to do well. Lectures were hard to follow because he would often get off-topic. Takes a few days to respond to emails but overall a kind professor. Make sure to take pictures of his notes they're handwritten and he just holds them up to the camera.
Professor Gersch really cares a lot about the students and wants everyone to do well. He gives many practice problems and counts the best 4 of 6 quizzes. Midterm and final combined are worth 70% of your grade so make sure to study. He is very passionate about stats and you can tell he wants class to be interesting. Pay attention and you'll be fine.
It was nice that he made the Pearson hw all due at the end of the semester and he warned us about quizzes. However, the man cant teach online. Hes disorganized, goes off on tangents talking about students names, and couldnt even be bothered to make slides, he writes messy notes on paper and holds it up to his camera. Quizzes were not like exams
This course was unacceptable. The man is strange. Spoke more about the history of board games than we did statistics. Learned nothing. I learned more in my sleep this past semester. Does not answer emails. ("My email broke," he exclaims.) Doesn't know how 2 teach. Or interact with humans. If a dean sat in on the class he'd be fired. Waste of time.
If online, do not take unless you like headaches/confusion. Did not record lectures, post powerpoints, etc. Talked on camera (at times off topic) & occasionaly held a sheet of paper up for 2 seconds. Was late 40 mins to midterm. Cannot backtrack on exams. Doesn't answer email concerning grades. Midterm was written in his own words/odd. I'm scarred
Professor Gersch is the absolute man. Such a caring dude and I'm a chill a** kid who puts in a solid amount of time into school. Gersch blessed it with an A, would highly recommend taking him (6 quizzes - lowest dropped, 1 midterm, 1 final, 10 HW due at the end of semester)
I was a full-time student and worker this semester due to personal reasons I was not doing very well in the class. I was able to reach out to the professor for help and inform him of my situation. He reached out to comfort me and was very understanding. If I had the time to listen to his lectures properly, I would definitely retake this course.
Very interesting guy, which can keep lectures interesting but wears off after a little while. Stats is hard and he tries to make it understandable but it doesn't always work. Grade mostly based off 2 semi-difficult exams, there's some easy quizzes and HW too but you have to put time in to those. Solid choice (esp when compared to other STA profs)
Stats is a difficult class and he makes it as easy as possible. His notes are really clear and helpful w multiple examples. The hw is on MSL and theres 6 quizzes but he drops the lowest 2 & a midterm and final which were more difficult. He really cares about everyone and hes funny. I had him in person & he was great. Study and youll be fine.
This class was a rush. He is very unorganized, writes super tiny, and makes the material a little difficult to understand, but you'll figure it out. Tells you about exams and quizzes a few days before. If you take him, you're just asking for extra stress
If you pay attention you should definitely pass. All the homework is due at the end of the semester and you're mainly graded on the exams and homework. There are quizzes throughout but they are fairly easy if you go to class. He does go through a lot during class so be prepared to listen and I don't recommend skipping. & He's always cracking jokes.
Prof Gersch was tough because he didn't curve our midterms even though he said he would. Otherwise this class would've been easier. Nonetheless, he's a caring teacher and explains the material well. Don't miss class or you'll feel left behind quick.
Really nice guy. Super understanding and knows his stuff.
Horrible, no PowerPoint notes at all, he writes on the board and his handwriting is super small. He calls out random names all the time, it's really weird. This course is super unorganized, do not recommend this professor at all.
Solid stats professor. Writes way too small on the board and likes to randomly say students names which is a bit weird. Counts best 4 out of 6 quizzes and gives you the whole semester to finish the homework.
I think Gersch is awesome! Yes, writes a lot on board (also uses Ppt, Excel and web) but explains it all in clear, thorough, methodical way. Lectures fully organized based on syllabus. I think he calls on people to engage students. Bit quirky, but you won't find a better, more caring, devoted teacher who wants all his his students to learn stats!
Professor Gersch is cool. Stats is a tough subject but he gives straightforward notes. If you come to class all the time and study the notes you will do fine on the quizzes and exams. Don't skip class! you will fall behind tremendously.
Professor Gersch is very passionate about statistics. The only dropback is his handwriting is too small.
Doesn't give extra credit or curves the test, no matter how bad the class does. Randomly says peoples names during the class, and its a very weird. Classes are very boring but lenient, and hw's are only worth 15% of the grade even though it's so much hw. Go to class to understand the concept, helps a lot.
Hes funny & enthusiastic about statistics! Easy quizzes, relatively hard midterm & quizzes. Take good notes ! Would take again. Class was never dull, makes stats easy to learn with step by step lectures.
Gersch is a nice guy but his class is really unorganized and hard to follow. He tends to ramble on and not get to the actual point. He is pretty understanding and his tests aren't terrible, but the concepts are challenging. Prepare to teach yourself concepts outside of class.
Very enthusiastic, but his writing is too small. Consider reading ahead in the textbook to avoid confusion. There's almost no graded homework, but he emails loads of optional homework to help you practice. All online graded assignments were due on the day of the final, so you can just use the free trial instead of paying for the code.
He mamish changed my life
Honeslty, the professor does have his quirks [saying concur way too many times, randomly calling out names] but if you take notes on his lectures, you will ace the tests. homework is on person and is really easy too. just show up to class and you will be fine.
He says the word concur more then he teaches. No PowerPoint notes and disorganized with writing on the board. Inaccessible for office hours and leaves right after class. Grade is mainly from 3 tests no extra credit or curves. Textbook bought for class was not mentioned once. DO YOU CONCUR he is a nice guy outside teaching.
A disaster of a course often goes off topic calling people names for no reason. Very disorganized notes as he writes on the board. The textbook purchased for class was not mentioned once. The Pearson HW is completely different then what we learned in class. No access outside class no office hours. No extra credit / curves you bomb 1 test you done.
Professor Gersch goes into detail with the topics. He does ramble on and his written notes are disorganized with rarely any PowerPoints. He grades mainly on quizzes, midterm, final and MSL. He rambles on, repeats concurs a lot and is random most of the times. Overall if you miss class def get notes from someone or you won't understand the topic.
Only take Gersch's class if you like banging your head on the wall. It makes you furious at life to spend the semester doing material different than on MSL. Sending confusing information in emails after every class doesn't improve the class. The worst thing for 75 minutes is to listen to his terrible jokes, learn nothing, and hate life.
The worst professor doesn't help you with exams or questions. For the tests, he does not give out a review sheet. He is terrible at being accessible outside with no office hours. The way he explains concepts is awful. To pass the class, you must teach it yourself or get a tutor.
If there is another stats teacher take them. Make the class harder than it should be, he allows a page of notes on the tests, but let that fool you. Always cracking down jokes at the wrong time and then runs out of time. No curves or extra credit lazy, sends emails will unclear information. No excels guides and will spend time teaching yourself.
I would like to concur that Professor Gersch was terrific. Pretty straightforward class. He does tend to ramble a lot. Takes notes, study, and you will do just fine. He also let us use cheat sheets on tests/quizzes.
Just don't waste your time. If you wanna good grade, then find another prof. Midterm and Final are so hard. His lectures are not worthy at all.
He rambles on about statistics and is random most of the times, although he's pretty informed on what he teaches. But aside from that I concur that professor Gersch is a great professor, just pay attention as his notes does get disorganized. If you decide to take him though I wish you a statistical semester(iykyk)
He is obsessed with the word "concur", which makes his lectures a bit weird. No curve so you're on your own with your grade. If you ask him a question he will seem a bit upset, even if you joke back with him he'll seem a bit upset. I think he likes being the center of attention. BTW does anyone else think his secretary isn't real...
I concur this professor is terrifically bad; please don't waste your time with this professor. All he does is teach but is never available during office hours. He will crack weird jokes and comment off-topic things. The exam is in person on paper, and idk how we are supposed to use our minds when most questions are excel.
This is by far the hardest class i've taken in Baruch. He's an extremely hard grader 25% per midterm and 35% final. He does not curve any tests and the final was nearly impossible to finish (online: Pearson). I paid deep attention to lectures and read the textbook and still have a poor grade. Final was also nothing like in class midterms.
The lectures up until the first midterm are very easy and after the first midterm the content gets harder but the midterm is also very easy as he lets you bring a cheat sheet. The final however was incredibly difficult as it was nothing like the two midterms but exactly like the online homeworks on pearson. Goofy and weird professor for certain.
Solid professor, knows what he's talking about. NO CURVES, 2 tests and alot of Pearson HW
He's really hard to contact outside of class. He doesn't respond to emails but sends out random emails about things that aren't relevant to the class. When he does respond to you, he dodges questions and doesn't really care for your concerns. He doesn't give curves or extra credit even if a majority of the class doesn't do so great.
No curves or extra credit. Good (but slow) lecturer. Does not prepare you for the final. No review sheets but lets you bring a cheat sheet. Inaccessible outside of class and doesn't know where his office is when asked. Everything is sent through email. He made remarks about Hamas in class and had us take a moment of silence for 9/ll the day after.
I think Gersch is a great prof! Clear lectures, written on board and slides, direct answers to students, offers time outside class in person, email. Engages students (calls on them, learns names) w humor, inspiring classes. Allows note page for tests. To do well, go class, pay attention, master material practicehw, both his, MSL (similar to final)!
Terrific stat professor! Exams very similar to lectures and review problems he gives, final is like hw. Available to help students outside class. Grades fairly, no curves or extra credit (I think this came from dept). Be sure to understand all concepts and practice all formulas, and you should do fine.
Gersch is great! Makes stats fun and understandable! Def take him!
This professor is absolutely hilarious and if you show him that you care, he will care. He goes through the textbook in his own way and very slowly and gives all of the information necessary for you to get a good grade. He allows a cheatsheet on the tests and you can put everything on there. He teaches in his own way and is very goofy. 10/10!
deeply cares about students. just go to class
Tough class, good luck :( His lectures help to understand the material, so try to attend them all. No curves.
I just have to say I've never learned such clear content of statistics until I took professor class. I've taken statistics with 2 other professors and Gersch is the most clear, attentive to detail and most knowledgeable. You won't regret taking his class if you put yourself forward towards actually learning the content. He explains it very well!
Professor Gersch is a great professor. He goes through things step by step and makes stats understandable. He sends practice questions through email which are formatted just like the questions on the quizzes, midterm, and final! He cares about his students and makes stats fun!
I concur that Prof. Gersch is a great professor. He actually spends time thoroughly explaining the material by hand instead of simply just reading from slides. I fail to reject the hypothesis test that he is very funny with his statistical humor. However, the new Achieve homework felt very clunky to use at times.
Respectful and considerate his students, is awkwardly funny, engages with the class (participation is optional), and will remember your name if you ever participate. Very clear in his explanations and gives his students ample of helpful practice problems. Don't exactly concur with the low RMP ratings.
Cancel classes often and then sends material via email and does not review it. Barely reviews problems from previous tests/quizzes. Lecture was unbearable. Best part is this man sent us material to study for the final exam... two hours before the test. DO NOT recommend.
He's kinda weird and talks to himself but his lectures are good he teaches all the criteria and we are allowed cheat sheets on exams, the final was online but it was really hard.
The professor makes stats interesting and engaging. Lectures are clear, and he's available to help outside class. Use Unstuckstudy along with the textbook to do well. Overall a good experience.
Anyone can concur that this man has the best lectures and he makes his midterms based on his lectures, so please pay attention, and sends supplimental material via email. He extends and drops lowest grade for homework. However, departmental final is all textbook based and Achieve was the system used, review textbook and previous HWs for finals.
I have taken other Stat before but his version is relevant ^ useful. Relates theories with industry application. Lenient, Considerate, Funny. I commend his teaching prowess as he can effectively deliver a topic in minutes, w/o slides w/c is better than the exhausting textbook. This made Statistic very interesting.
He had a weird, but funny sense of humor, and he teaches well. You are allowed a cheat sheet on the tests, and the finals are online and open book. Would definitely take again
Prof Gersch teaches lectures clearly, makes stats relevant and practical for MBAs and MS students. Missed two classes (for holidays) but emailed relevant notes, then went over material in next class as needed. Gives review problems a week+ before all quizzes/exams, allows page of notes for exams. Good, caring prof, definitely take him!
Best Professor I ever had! His lectures are very informative and although Stats is hard, he makes it a lot easier. He uses many relatable and understanding examples. I had a knee surgery towards the end of the semester and he was very understanding with my situation. He truly is a an AMAZING professor and person. TAKE HIM. He deserves 10 stars!
Prof. Gersch is a funny guy, and a very nice person. Exams allowed one front and back cheat sheet. He writes extremely small so its kinda hard to see the board even while sitting up front. Final wasn't terrible but first two exams were pretty easy. Always concur with him and tell him about the strange man at Madison Square Park talking statistics.
great professor, hes very funny and extremely kind. only thing is he writes super small. if you take him, make sure u really organize ur notes and pay attention to his emails. the emails he sends are similar to the questions on exams as well as his notes. he will help you with anything you need.
Hard class but pretty easy if you do the homework. Finals were online and similar to the homework. Finals focused mostly on the last few chapters. Midterms in person but with a reference sheet
Incredibly funny and entertaining, more than any professor I've ever had. Makes you WANT to go to class. Midterms allow cheat sheet and are easy multiple choice. Department final is more difficult, covering only last few chapters. He doesn't curve, but easy exams + StatLab homework make getting the grade manageable (not easy though). Do you concur?
Gersch really has a passion for stats and learning in general (he writes new words on the board to broaden our vocabulary). Lectures are easy to follow as he gives many examples. Exams (2 midterms and 1 cumulative final) are very similar to homeworks and allow for generous space for cheat sheets so its good to copy examples into your notes.
Professor Gersch was just absolutely lovely to have. He takes his time to memorize every student's name, makes jokes, and has a great way of teaching. He wants you to learn, and he makes his content easy enough for you to comprehend with thorough examples. He curves grades at the end of the semester, but doesnt mention curving it. BEST PROF EVER.
Do NOT take this professor at all and dont ask me why.
Professor Gersch is one of the most caring professors I've ever had. He genuinely cares about our learning and goes out of his way to email us additional practice questions. This professor also stays after class to address lecture content if you didn't understand. However, don't misconstrue this for easy grades. You still need to work hard for it.
