This course was great. He is an energetic teacher and the class is in memorial hall, so you can people watch all class and not get bored. I highly recommend this course

Excellent at teaching, but imtimidating in person. Lively, fun atmosphere. Do not take if you do not like online reading. You read this, instead of a textbook. There are labs, so make sure you get a good TA. Highly reccommend this class.

A 500+ lecture, but personable and engaging nonetheless. I never went to office so I can't vouch for that, but in class he was an absolute blast and this was one of VERY few classes I've ever really looked forward to at UK.

make sure you go to class every day because a lot of his points are based on in class assignments and if you miss one than you are screwed. overall it was a great class and it is a lot of fun and very interesting

Dr. Golding was willing to help me out of class to understand this difficult material. He was instrumental in my pursuing a doctorate degree in psychology. Very motivating, helpful, and hot.

Some people didn't enjoy Golding in a small class, but I really did. He seemed to understand that we were freshmen and needed to learn to adjust to school. There was a decent amount of reading involved, but I hardly ever did it and I still got an A. I hear that he's great in PSY 100 from most people-- you either love or hate him. :)

This is a great class for first semester freshman. But be sure you take it with Golding. He's easy, as long as you go to class and lab, you should get an A. He makes a lecture with 900 people as fun as it possibly could be. Very easy course and never any homework.

I loved this class. Psychology somewhat interested me before this class but now I love it. He is a good teacher because he knows what he is talking about but you need to go to class. He has random in class assignments that you definently need to do. Also be sure to go to lab, it's very helpful.

Golding rocks!! His class was so much fun. He keeps you interested during the entire lecture period. His exams are based off of his lectures, so it's pointless to buy the book if you attend class. Just listen to his lectures and take semi-good notes. I got an A and didn't open my book once. His class is awesome. Highly recommended.

It's a good class for freshman. I was a junior taking it because I just need credit hours to remain a full time student before heading to pharmacy school. I thought his tests were freshman level. He uses a lot of notes-pretty boring. He's a good lecturer for a class of 500. He seems like a nice guy. Overall, good class.

There were 500+ students in my class, but he caters to a crowd. It's simple: go to class, take notes, and ask questions during lab if you don't understand anything. Lectures are entertaining with a lot of video clips and personality. Tests are multiple choice and mainly from the notes. However, read the sections of the book he singles out.

Great class, as he does in 100 there are lots of video examples and a good deal of the exam questions are dedicated to them. The book is a pocket from Johnny Print and there are a few readings, most less than 20 pages for each of the exams. He does in class assignments randomly, and they count into your grade heavily, so you'll want to be in class.

Exams come straight from notes. Only few sections from book that he singles out, no need to buy the book. TA's are hit or miss, ask questions if you don't get anything. Guaranteed B if you just study your notes for a couple hours.

He's a fantastic professor, funny and extremely helpful. He uses a packet from Johnny Print for articles, about 8 or so, all pretty short. In-class assignments, so go to class. Tests are 85% from lecture, 15% from journal article/packet. READ BEFORE CLASS. Study enough, and you can get a pretty easy A/B.

This class was super easy! As long as you go to class, take good notes, and go to labs, you'll get an A. He lectures over exactly what's going to be on the tests, so don't miss class. I aced all of the tests with only studying an hour or two the night before. Golding is a great teacher, and he's fun, too! I highly recommend taking this class!

Awesome teacher. I have had him in 2 classes and I wish I could take him a third time. He doesnt have you buy a text book in his upper level classes (311 and 427) so it is cheaper than my other classes. he is very clear and makes the subject fun and easy! his in class assignments are SO easy and he is my favorite prof at UK.

DO NOT BUYY THE BOOK!!! He aids in the publishing of his textbook so he gets some of the profit. You use the book twice in the semeser. And you look up theories that will easily be found on the internet. He also changes the book every semester so you can't sell it bck. total rip off

Very interesting, fun teacher. Had a lot of good examples. Tests could be tricky, but overall an easy class. Go to class/labs because everything on tests comes from there and there are quizes/inclass assignments. Labs can really help your grade! You don't really need the book, just share with someone, but you need the lac manual. Easy grade!

It is absolutely necessary to go to class and begin studying for the test a WHOLE week before. If you fail to do so then you will not do well. If you can take his Eyewitness Testimony class. He only offers it in the Spring time and he is the only teacher. All you have to do is participate and write the slides down. If you are late he WILL call you out though. Made class VERRRY interesting!!! A MUST TAKE

Dr. Golding was a fantastic professor! The class material is not inherently difficult, but you do need to pay attention and attend class; he doesn't have much pity for people who don't put for effort. Really though, it's easy to get an A in this class.

Golding is too traditional. I earned an A in his class from the tests, but received a B for attendance. His tests have questions that test if you've been in class. Its dumb. Attendance is a virtue for some, but for him, its the most important thing. Frankly, its ridiculous. He should teach and test and keep his opinions from affecting grades.

He is keeps a class of 500 freshman interested on a topic that can be very boring. His is not monotone at all and is aware of the diversity of his audience so generally does not offend anybody. I would definitely suggest him as a professor!

By far one of the BEST professors at UK. He is hilarious and makes the class so personable. You never lose focus and he tells funny stories. He LOVES his daughter.. it's so cute. The tests are easy-just take the notes straight off the slides. Attendance is mandatory only because he gives in-class assignments that are literally take 30 secs.

Great professor. Doesn't just read the slides, but uses explanations and lets you know what's on the exams. Never a time where I didn't want to come to class. Exams can be tricky, but studying about a week in advance is the trick for success in this class. Definitely would recommend.

AMAZING! There are no other words. Just recently named Kentucky Professor of the Year, and it's clear why that is the case. In a class of 500, he cares about YOU. Biggest tip: go to class! I've had Golding before for psy100 and he was amazing! I took him again for psy311 and again loved how he taught the class and how involved he is. He is amazing at explaining things and really does care about you and your grade. I recommend everyone to take at least one of his classes!!

Dr. Golding is one of my favorite professors. All who have had him give great reviews and I am no different. Future students, you need to go to class. Many questions on the exam involve an example he used in class, which is not included in the notes. I recommend him highly for PSY100.

Golding is top notch. He's funny, a very great teacher, and makes some pretty boring stuff sound pretty interesting. He's a great guy, and I'd say that everyone should try to get him for your Intro to Psychology.

Dr. Golding is a very good professor in my opinion, his lecture notes provide much clarity, as does the textbook. He makes lectures interesting with the way he makes jokes, however some of the comments he has made during the semester I had him were somewhat offense at times. During office hours when you have questions over exams he seems to be a bit disinterested, as he seems to think the reason you made a bad grade was always your fault, and not possibly bc his exam questions were unclear.

Corny, full of himself. I took it as a senior though and it was a freshman class; just wasn't to psyched to hear nsync/Britney/beyonce blaring for the first five minutes of class. The lab is the most pointless thing ever. But it's cool that you don't have to go to it every single week. The research credits are a pain but I don't think that's him

Golding is extremely full of himself which is obvious in both class and during his office hours. I met with him once and he was rude and came off as annoyed but the second time, he was extremely helpful and kind... As for his class, my favorite class I've ever taken. It's both entertaining and educational. Strongly encourage taking him.

Dr. Golding is one of the main reasons why I decided to minor in Psychology. He is a fantastic teacher who seems to love his field of work and teaching. It is an easy class as long as you take notes on everything that goes on in class. He puts all the emphasis of the class on application of what is taught in class. What I mean on the note taking is that there will be questions on the tests about what happened in class. It forces you to go to class. I bought the book for the class and never used it.

Simply a nasty person. I tried taking this course during a vacation overseas. I realized I would be in flight during an exam window, I requested to take it at a later time, he would not allow it. I had to drop the course and waste my money. Truly could have been avoided with a bit of understanding.

Fantastic professor. Took this class my last semester of undergrad and it was the BEST class I have taken since my time at UK. Golding is a phenomenal professor, and was recently recognized as a top professor at UK in the spring graduation ceremony. Dr. Golding is a nice professor during class but not very nice when you approach him. I would recommend him though as he is very cool and makes class interesting. Exams are all multiple choice and he uses powerpoints. There's at least one in class activity per day, sometimes 3 or 4 so attendance is mandatory. Didnt make you take the last exam.

Makes class super interesting, we watched Big Bang TheoryHow I Met Your Mother clips like once a week and we watch a random music video every day before class. He also lets you out early every day. The tests are literally based exactly off the power points in class so if you take good notes, you'll have no problem at all.

There are random in class assignments but no other form of attendance taking. However, many questions on the test are about in class examples, you won't get a great grade if you just read the book. I think I've opened my book 3 times this semester and one of those times it was unnecessary. The lectures aren't boring. Go to class and study easy A

He's a great guy. Funny, a little awkward, embarrassing dad type of guy. He has a lot of tests to help the students and I took this class with Archer and his tests were SOO long and pretty tough! Dr. Golding is really nice and engaging. He has 10+ in-class assignments and those are important. Study the labs for the tests!! I didn't buy the book

He's a great guy. I definitely recommend him to freshman. If you go to class you'll pass. Don't buy the textbook. He puts up very specific study guides, so if you look at it you shouldn't be surprised by the tests. You have to go to class, he gives 10 random in class assignments that make up for your attendance.

Excellent at keeping class interesting. He gives in class assignments, but you should want to attend because he's very engaging. Exams are fair, and studying is recommended, but simply showing up will help greatly because he explains things so well. You might need the book to study the definitions for the first exam.

Dr. Golding is a phenomenal psychology professor. There is a lot of note-taking, but it is not a boring process. He makes each class fun, different, and exciting. Depending on your TA the lab is very educational and fun as well. His tests come right from the notes and he grades very fairly. There are even opportunities for extra credit.

Dr. Golding can come off a little intimidating at first, but he was one of my favorite professors this semester. He is very clear with his expectations for tests at the beginning of the semester, and his lectures directly coincide with the test content. I highly recommend Dr. Golding and would take another course taught by him in the future.

His power points give all the necessary information that is on the exams. If you miss class, you miss a lot of information. He is a GREAT teacher.

Dr. Golding is an excellent professor. Being that I am a first year freshman I found his class to be one of my favorite. He is very clear in his expectations (GO TO CLASS). He uses examples given in class on the tests, there are review sheets for the test, and he highly suggests making flashcards from the notes. Do it! Great Class.

I love this class! Definitely recommend taking this class with Dr. Golding. You have lab once a week, but it only takes about an hour. The labs don't help you with learning the material (in my opinion) HOWEVER, labs are mandatory. His grading is super clear. If you study his study guide, the test are a breeze. He is also really funny! 11/10 class

If you have a hard time with certain topics, he is usually available and will help you as much as he can. He's very understanding, and will do as much as possible to help you pass. The lectures are packed with information, and the tests cover even specific examples from lab. There are even random In-Class papers. As long as you try, you'll pass.

Class is not mandatory but he does random in-class assignments and you have to have a certain percentage of them done by the end of the semester or youre penalized. Golding has a lot of energy for psychology and really made the class fun. He has expectations--lab credits, come to lecture (because of in class assignments), go to lab, etc--but these expectations are really not difficult if you are proactive about completing them. Dr. Golding has been phenomenally helpful throughout my time in undergrad. He has been an excellent professor to do research with and he works directly with you in meetings either with just you or with one other student. He is easygoing and funny which makes lectures easy to sit through. Exams are easy and there's no homework. Slides are straightforward and easy to understand, and Dr. Golding loves giving mnemonics to help you remember certain things that will be on exams. Although attendance isnt mandatory you should make sure youre in class to complete pop assignments, he gives a limited amount and its required of you. Really great professor. His syllabus is clear about grading and the reading schedule. This course is discussion based so you need to do the assigned readings before class and come prepared to talk. The topics are very interesting and I HIGHLY recommend taking PSY 350 with him. Midterm/Final are the only exams, 1 presentation, & daily participation

TA is more helpful and easy way to set up the meeting, comfortable to go over exam questions and reach out. I enjoyed a lot with TA for PSY 100 class. Try to reach out with TA more to get some great relationships and you'll get more benefit. Review the chapter many times to prepare for exam, and lab quizzes.

I want to give this rate to PSY 100 class TA's. They did a really great job to students during the lab. Very friendly, helpful, kind and nice. Plus, when students have some difficulty or struggling during the lab quiz and lecture, TA helped students to give some much information and resources. Can't believe now it is the end of the semester.

Dr. Golding is easily one of the best professors I have had here so far. He doesn't do his in class assignments in every class, but you don't know when he assigns them and you get an automatic zero if you aren't in class. His test are super easy if you just actually study his notes. Everything on his test come directly from the lecture notes.

Dr. Golding initially scared me, but he turned out to be one of my favorite professors. He has high expectations, but you will succeed if you make an effort to study for exams and show up to class. He often lets class out early and has very interesting lectures. It's obvious that he cares about his students. He's one of the best!

Just do the very short readings right before class and you'll be fine. he has you submit a written assignment after each lecture most of the time, but its normally just one or two questions about the presentation (i.e. "what is something you learned abt..". Just have some simple notes jotted down and you're solid.

He gives you attendance points that boost your grade and lab quizzes that are almost the same % as exams. You will get a good grade as long as you attend class/lab and study for exams!

I took PSY 100 with Dr. Golding and he was phenomenal! It is a 4-credit course including labs one day a week as well as lecture 3 days a week. Lab participation is mandatory, but the TA's make it so much fun. It is lecture heavy, but I can guarantee you will never walk out of that class without Dr. Golding making you laugh. Highly recommended!!!!

Dr. Golding is my favorite professor at UK! Always tries to include student participation in his lectures to make the class more customized to each group he teaches. Anything talked about in lecture can be on the exams so pay attention. He does not post powerpoints in Canvas, so make sure your notes are detailed.

Honestly I love Dr. Golding. You do need to show up to his class because not only do you need to participate at least 10 times to pass, but everyday in class there is 1-2 pages that only have 1 sentence due at the end. They are usually either about the speaker (theres a lot in this class) or the reading he assigns. His class is very easy!

Some people don't like him but I think he's great! He was super funny when I took class with him and he makes lectures interesting by interacting with the students and showing videos. Definitely recommend studying pretty well for his exams because they are worth most of your grade since he doesn't assign any work outside of lecture except for labs.

If you took AP Psychology in high school, the course material is basically the same. Very lecture heavy but also manageable. Participate in labs and do your research credits! Review sheets posted for all exams.
