Very good instructor, I liked the current event discussions.
I loved the structure of the class. Was an online course and I knew at the beginning of the quarter exactly what I would be doing. He responded to email questions rather quickly and graded assignments within a day or two of being due. The final and quizzes did have some minor details, but points can be made up on other assignments.
the class its self was great. kreger used interesting tools to carry out his lectures and info like twitter and a text/poll site. i will agree with the person below that he tests on very minor details that arent relevant and the vocabulary used in his tests is hard to understand at times. he does give extra credit though thank god
Prof. Kreger is an outstanding teacher. He takes the time to insure that the students understand the material. He is very responsive to student questioning both in class and via email and of course Twitter. If you want an enjoyable learning environment, and want to learn Political Science, Prof. Kreger is your teacher!!
Professor Kreger taught a wonderful class and for me he was very easy to follow. He also provides lots of resources to aid in learning the material. Also he most helpful outside of class. He really did make Polisci more interesting for me. Another plus is that he is easy on the eyes for the girls too. ENJOY LEARNING ABOUT !
Great professor, I enjoyed his class
Great instructor, interesting dialogue in discussion board. Participate in discussions a lot and work hard at quizzes for a good grade. I highly recommend this class
i really liked mr. kreger. i had him twice. once for pols 201 and for pols 101. he is an all around good guy and extremly personable.
Took his on-line political science class, very clear on his expectations. Feedback is very good and useful. Poses questions that make the students think about the subject matter.Thoroughly enjoyed the class.
He was nice overall and very encouraging. If you don't do well on the test you should start to read the chapters. The paper he requires will also help your if you are tipping in between grades
He's a really nice guy. His tests are pretty easy and he gives you bonus points. Take this class.
I struggle with government, but not with this class. Very clear expectations and lots of opportunities for points. Very fast with posting grades and responds to emails quickly. I would recommend this professor!
Took online - expectations and assignments were very clear. He posted grades at the end of each week (aside from essay grades). Hint - when you do the essays (they're easy), stick with the verbiage in the text. He grades based on the facts out of the book. Study hard for quizzes/final. Discussion boards are time-consuming but easy. I recommend him!
This class was easy, but his grading is absurd. Our first essay he gave me a B - Ive never written a B essay. When I asked him why, he said that I did not include several things - that were not even in the instructions! It was like he just made it up. He gave me an example of how it should read, but that example was nothing more than definitions.
Great Prof!
TOOK THIS CLASS ONLINE,HATED IT. HE WAS UNWILLING TO HELP WHEN I ASKED HIM AND HE DID NOT GRADE CONSISTENTLY, ONE WEEK MY ENTRY WOULD BE AN A AND THE NEXT AN F, THE QUALITY WAS THE SAME. WAS NOT CLEAR ON EXPECTATIONS.
Mr Kreger makes politics interesting. He know his material well. Fun class.
Took this class as a requirement. Went from zero interest to a lot of interest in politics because of the teacher. Would highly recommend this class. He does take attendance, so show up. Do the reading. There are chances for bonus points. Work hard on the research paper. Great lectures, discussions, and learned so much.
Weekly reading assignments with quizzes keep you busy along with 3 essays over the course of the course. Easy to understand "lectures". Good on responding to emails. Keeps material light enough to keep students interested.
Very well educated and refined. Cares about students' success.
Wonderful class will really make you think and will expand your knowledge of the political system by taking a neutral stance and really gets you to think. The tests are tough because he really tests you're understanding of the topic more than your ability to memorize the definition.
This teacher only gives you three exams, a research paper, and a final exam. If you don't do well on any of these you will fail the class. He does not help you or offer you extra credit in a situation like this.
He gives crappy feedback. Jumps all over the book Takes off points for even the littlest of reasons. Won't let you post everything on the same day (to "insure well thought out and continuous discussion between classmate"). Though all you do is post current event and a response to his question. This is a hassle!
This class is great. The teacher uses alot of neat stuff like to teach the class. Its been really fun taking this class while the election is going on because its helping me understand everything.
I swear he spins a wheel on your grades. Not a fair grader.
I had no interest in politics but after this class I'm hooked. It helped me think about politics, including my own, in a different way. I really liked all the current and relevant material he uses and the interactive nature of the class. I would recommend this professor, especially now during the presidential election.
Extra Credit is offered on showing up to class as well as jeopardy games for review. You have to read a ton and will need the book to pass. They are really passionate about what they do. Occassionally you will get to watch small videos based on topics you're going over. Some things on the tests I had no memory of being in the book be prepared.
He is Jesus Christ in the flesh. I would take his class forever.
Kreger was a great instructor. He was easy to communicate with if you needed to ask him something as he checks his emails regularly, and was an all around nice guy. He was flexible if something went wrong and worked well with it.
I'm taking his American government class during the presidential election and it is awesome. He makes the class relevant to what is going on in politics today. I'm learning more than I thought I would. I would recommend him to anyone needing or wanting to take a poli sci class at Columbus State.
Great professor!
I took his class online. He is a good professor, and the material was at a good level. One warning, which is that for the online class, there is almost double the work in the last week! Also, he responded to the emails I sent quickly and helpfully!
No extra credit. You have to teach yourself. You read one or two chapters every week and have to write two discussion posts and take a quiz every week. You have to write "essays" every couple weeks. They only have to be like 250 words. Overall good teacher but grades rather hard. You have to take the final at the testing center.
Fantastic lecturer, truly cares about you as a person and doesn't just view you as"another" student.
I took his class last fall. Great lectures. Explained topics thoroughly. Does a great class review before exams. If your come to class and do the work you should have a great semester.
He was great. He cares about his students and genuinely wants them to succeed. He is thorough and efficient. I highly respect him as a professor and would definitely take his class again.
Have not had more issues with grading in college than with this guy. Absolutely insane how hes grading discussion board posts. Will respond promptly, but might take his grading a little to seriously.
He is a harsh grader. Sometimes you get A for the same quality writing other times, you get a D. If you ask him why, you lost points he points out key terms from the book. The quizzes are timed and you get 25 mins to do 15 question quiz. You write 3 short essays. He's terrible, don't take his class. It was a terrible semester b/c of him.
Just finished the semester with Mr. Kreger, it was an awesome class. He made learning about politics (which is not always a fun topic at least not for me) enjoyable and relateable. You can tell he really likes what he teaches. I have a different view of government then I did before.
Really boring assignments and class format. 2 discussion posts & quiz every week... even on finals week. 3 additional essays throughout the semester as well. Not sure if that's standard for online classes here but I truly hated it. Kreger grades discussion board posts and essays entirely way too harshly and feedback is non-existent.
Professor Kreger deserves more credit than others have given him credit for. Yes, he does have a boring class format (two DB's per week followed by a quiz, and three essays throughout the semester), and yes, he IS a tough grader, but come on; this is COLLEGE. Put in the work and you'll get the grade, Don't expect to skate by in this class.
Overall pretty fair teacher and class. Come to class and read your textbook and youll be fine. Lectures are boring, but hes an overall chill dude. He takes attendance, but youll just miss lectures. Gives bonus points on review day before exams.
Cool class and teacher, it was a lot of fun and interesting. He's a tough but fair grader. You'll write a research paper. It's mostly lecture for when you're in class but there are some in class activities and you'll use clickers. Overall, I really enjoyed the class.
Kreger is great teacher, you can tell he cares about his students success. Plenty of opportunity for extra credit if you come to class every day.
Chill dude, chill class. Its boring but its not that hard. Im not that smart nor do I enjoy politics but didnt find this class too hard. Its college, read your textbook, do you work, study for his exams youll be fine, no surprises or anything too demanding of you.
He is passionate about the subject and uses a blend of his own tools, videos and references mixed with those that are generated from the textbook. I did have some difficultly getting good explanations of why I was missing essay points. His replies were always too general and it wasn't clear what more I could have done to earn full credit.
I took his state and local government class online and it was one of the worst online classes ever. Grades all over the place. would go from As to Ds with the same effort. Quizzes were worst- they're "from the reading". You could read the chapter and have no clue the answers. obscure questions with time limit for pressure. would not recommend.
Grading makes no sense. Shouldn't even teach the online class; would not recommend.
Kreger is verbatim to online work that has already been posted; therefore if you are reapplying the knowledge he gives you in notes, videos, terms etc. he will say you "plagiarized" so be careful when you are turning in content. If you decide to take the class, I suggest you take it with someone else or just teach yourself; better than his course.
Taking professor kreger's class was one of the best decisions I've made so far in college. It is a really good class and he makes learning about politics interesting and fun. Granted I enjoy politics but he is a good teacher and I'm learning alot, would recommend him to anyone who has to take a government course.
Professor Kreger was pretty fair I thought, the class was an easy A. The discussion boards are a little tedious, and he can be a bit of a tough grader but not too bad. We would have to write essays, and after he graded it he would send a sample essay but the sample essay was always trash. That's the only thing. As long as you understand the vocab.
Took this class online, and it was a super chill class. you had to read a chapter a week, post two discussion board posts, and take a quiz, with three essays and no midterm exam, only a final exam. Professer Krieger is very good at responding quickly to emails, and it very willing to help. A great class to take !
I was worried about taking a government class right now given all the stuff in politics today but it turned out to be a really good class. Everyone in class was cool and the teacher made learning about this stuff understandable and not too serious.
Great class. Very clear in the expectations and gives feedback to help with future work.
By far my favorite class this semester, it is organized and students know what they are supposed to do.
Prof. Kreger was okay. I took his online American History class and he would sometimes take off points and give no explanation. The quizzes werent even over comprehension of the material, just random sentences from the textbook. The material isnt difficult but he doesnt help you out much.
He is very personable and keeps lectures simple, interesting, and engaging. He is so unbias that we were trying to guess his party alignment at the end of the semester He knows his material well. Grading only consists of in-class activities, exams, and a final. The reading is pretty easy, and he lays out what will be on each exam.
Difficult online course, don't take if it's your first online college class. Tough grader. Gives no grace. No credit for late assignments. Automatic F's for discussion board posts that are submitted on the same day. Vague rubrics. Gives small amount of assignments with high points. I'm a college credit plus student with a 4.0 and I struggled.
Really cool instructor and class.
Just finishing up his online class now, it was really cool and very organized. I knew exactly what was due when and could plan my semester around the due dates he posts at the beginning of the semester. I'm taking his other online course in the fall.
This professor gives Amazing lectures, and extra credits. You have to be in class to understand the lectures. He do care and wants you to pass. He is one of the best professors I had in Collage. I would recommend him for anyone who is untested in political science course.
He was a real gem, I had fun taking his class. He was so unbiased, he let student decide for themself which sides they preferred; he stated the weakness and strength of both sides. He was helpful and his lecture were fantastic! He was very c lear, just loved him! If you have a chance to take him, he is a prof to go with, real cool and real gem!
Very cool class, he doesn't lecture the whole time and has a lot of activities so the class is always interesting.
THIS IS THE BEST PROFESSOR I'VE EVER HAD. He makes everything super interesting and is very knowledgeable. He never pushes his political opinions on anyone and even shows videos to make class less painful. The tests aren't easy, you really have to study but he offers you tons of extra help. Super nice guy. You definitely need to show up to class.
I really liked his lectures even though I considered the topic boring before and he graded fairly.
Great class and teacher, I took him this past semester and he was great when we had to move the class to all online because of covid 19. His lectures and class activities were awesome. I learned a lot and was nervous finishing online but it was actually not that bad. I could tell he really cared about his students during this crazy time
Took the class online, really appreciated that the material shown was updated within the past couple years and presented good information.
This professor had a lot of discussion boards online, and it took me a few tries to get the premise of the writings right. However after giving me a poor grade with little feedback the first few times, he stopped giving me feedback and I wasnt able to fix my mistakes properly. Very frustrating. But other assignments were easy
Unclear criteria for discussion board posts and excessively strict grading.
Never gave full credit for anything despite very little feedback. I emailed him to ask how to get better and got no response. His examples of what he wanted in his feedback were basically what I did, so grading is very ticky tack.
the most arrogant teacher ive ever had. hes so unclear on what he wants even though he has a rubric (that i followed every week.) NEVER gives full credit (i got a 14/15 for 1 discussion board hes so stubborn he wont give u a stupid 100) his tests were easy. honestly didnt get much out of the class.
Great class and awesome professor, not sure how he was able to pull off teaching about politics so well during a crazy election. I loved his style and feedback, would definitely recommend him to others.
Great Professor, no required online lectures and very helpful.
Prof. Kreger was great. His online class has a ton of videos and other digital content in addition to the textbook. I really learned so much about politics and will take his another class with him. Hate to admit it, but I now like politics when I hated it before this class.
Get ready to write. In order to get Bs for the discussion board posts, I was writing 300-400 words every week per post. When I asked him how to get better grades, he was downright rude. His quizzes are timed and the only reason I passed this class was through studying through quizlet before each quiz.
It's pretty much impossible to get full credit for any written assignment in this class. I've never received a low grade in any of my classes aside from this one.
Loved this class, it was really easy to figure everything out and he's a great teacher, going to take another of his classes next semester.
The class was very difficult for me at least. I felt like I didn't learn very much overall. Even through study sessions for exams, the concepts still weren't very clear. Tough grader but a caring professor.
Took his class over the summer, it was better then I expected. Awesome teacher and helped out alot when I was struggling. Two thumbs up.
Not empathetic whatsoever and can be difficult to work with. Grading Criteria could be more clear. Not a fun teacher but the content was fun.
rubrics are unclear and is very judgmental . will hand out assignments or tests that have nothing to do with the learned material .
Great class set up the grading of written responses was more difficult than other classes I've taken in the past Like COMP I and classes like those. The mid-term and final were very difficult but weakly quizzes were very easy as long as you did the weekly work..
The online class is awesome and organized so it's easy to figure out. There are a lot of videos to help you learn.
I hated his class it gave me anxiety. His grading was hard and he doesnt do extra credit. Discussion board are every week and they are terrible, you dont know what kind of answer hes looking for. Always wants something different. Ill never take him again, EVER! He made me hate my major.
Professor Kreger is a good guy. As long as you follow his instruction for the weekly work, each weekly quiz is fairly simple. However his discussion boards can be difficult to succeed in as what he wants is somewhat unclear. It took me a few weeks to start receiving 13s-14s/15 instead of 10s-11s/15. Exams are hard compared to quizzes. STUDY!
This class isn't difficult if you consider yourself somewhat intelligent. People claiming that grading criteria is unclear didn't read the syllabus. As far as assignment load goes, it's pretty average, with a weekly quiz and discussion board. There are 3 essays and a final exam. Reading the textbook is a must if you plan to succeed.
Loving Prof. Kreger's Am. Government course, I'm taking it online and it's easy to follow everything. There are lecture videos along with the readings that I really appreciate. His grading is fair just be sure to follow the instructions and rubrics. I'll probably take another of his courses next semester if it fits with my schedule.
This professor has to be one of the worst i've ever had. His discussions are impossible to get a full grade on. He states what he wants clearly but then acts like you put something not even related to the unit. No clear feedback to what he actually wants. Also the end of year exam was nothing like what we study/read in the textbook.
It seems like Professor Kreger is trying to prove himself as a professor by grading so meticulously. It's hard to believe someone who is teaching an entry level class would make it so difficulty to get a good grade. His grading criteria seems so specific that the only way to get a perfect in the course is to plagiarize his work exactly.
I have gotten an A in every class and this one broke my streak. I have been praised for my good writing and how well I can connect concepts in ALL my classes, except for this one where I was told I never connect concepts. His class has the same format as many other classes I've taken, yet I just randomly did badly in this one? It does not add up.
Hardest class I have taken. Kreger is an extremely tough grader and the criteria is unclear. Course material is rigorous. The weekly quizzes are hard, take notes on the readings. Exams aren't horrible if you use the study guide and external sources (Youtube, etc.) Ask him to define expectations prior to turning in assignments. Utilize office hours.
This professor was one of the hardest graders you will most likely ever have. Discussion boards, specifically, which are 15 points each week. You most likely will not get higher than a 10, no matter how much you exaggerate your understanding of the terms and concepts. He will give you a 0 if you repeat certain current issues. Have fun.
I learned so much about our government and politics. Mr. Kreger's class was organized and clear. He made learning about a subject I didn't know much about exciting and not as painful as I thought going in to the class.
Awesome class and professor, take one of his classes if you have to take a poli sci class.
Professor Kreger is the toughest grader I have ever had. He is teaching an entry level political science course, theres no need to grade like we have all been studying political science for 20 years. We don't know that much, and yes we learn through the textbook. The only thing I miss points on is the Discussion posts I hate his class
Loving my American gov. class with professor kreger. It's a pretty straightforward class as long as you pay attention to the instructions and grading criteria. I'm going to take his international class next semester.
I'm not big into politics but really enjoy this class. It's helping me understand government, definitely glad I'm taking it and would recommend Mr. Kreger to anyone who needs to take a government class at Columbus State.
I went through a huge burnout period in his class, and he was able to help me. With classes like this, I always feel like I become smarter, and I can definitely say that about the class I took with Professor Kreger.
Not a bad teacher or that hard of a class, have to do well on weekly quiz.
Nice person to talk to, utilize office hours if not understanding fundamental concepts in the course. study guides are majority vocabulary and concepts. be sure to apply the vocab and the concepts to the current political world since he is more focused on the applications of them. very particular on answers. tough grader. utilize office hours.
Great teacher, his groupwork in class was really helpful in learning what he was lecturing about. I'm glad I decided to take the course in person after being online for awhile. He's a fair grader as long as you do the work and can show what your learning. I recommend him for anyone looking to take a government class on campus.
Discussion boards can be brutal if you are not used to writing 700 words at once. You will also receive a 0 if you post an unoriginal topic. Weekly quizzes are easy if you use the textbook. You have to overemphasize unit concepts on the essay in order to get a decent grade. Majority of the exam was not even on the review or study guide. Good luck.
the class itself is very straightforward and not too hard to do. kreger is very engaging and friendly. however his policy isnt always flexible. he has a harsh attendance policy (for example can only miss 2 classes/ will deduct grades even w/doctors notes and telling him you cant attend in advance) and structures tests harshly. id get another prof
taking international relations class as a poli sci major and so far it is going good, the profs style is very interactive, this has really helped me learn better, also its a good idea to come to class regularly because part of your grade is based on participation. I'd definitely recommend him if you have to take a poli sci class.
Grading criteria is completely arbitrary. Lectures" are from HarvardX, a free program. He doesn't teach. He copy/pastes lesson plans from previous semesters. He changes the units around, but dbl check due dates bc he doesn't bother to change them. His review sessions don't prepare you for the midterm or final. Don't expect an A, even for A work.
This is my first ever college course because I'm still in high school. It's an online summer class and I'm really liking it. Prof. Kreger has been helpful getting me ready for the class because I was worried about it. He even met with me through Zoom to walk through how everything is set up. I am learning a lot about our government.
It really isn't that bad.
Really liked this teacher. He made class interesting.
by far my favorite prof at c-state he made the class interesting and fun definitely take his class
Awesome class, i wasn't so sure about taking a politics class (not my type of class) but i'm so glad i did it was really good and mr. kreger made all the difference he has some bonus points available and does fun quiz games
This professor does not teach this class. The lectures are from a free Harvard x resource and you never hear from him unless you email him. The discussion board posts make up a large portion of the grade and in order to do well on them you have to write a lot and meet his opaque grading standards. He was very easy to work with outside of class.
Not good. So hard, his grading makes no sense and he doesn't care about things that you have outside of class. Says midterms will only be multiple choice but it was fill in the blank and select all that apply. SO hard nothing on the midterm was on the review. Wouldn't take again.
This was one of the best online classes I have taken so far. Some of the other online classes were disorganized and not easy to follow but not this one. I learned alot about government and history.
Awesome class and teacher, take it if you need/want a government class
Kreger is very knowledgeable, caring, & accommodating. I found it very helpful to take notes & participate in the 1 extra credit opportunity(it was a pretty significant boost). No homework. Just 1 weekly quiz. If I ever missed one of the weekly quizzes, as long as I communicated with him what happened, he would reopen it & allow me to take it late.
Professor Kreger was sometimes a tough grader and the tests were difficult, but there is a lot of preparation that you can do to help. The tests aren't worth that much and as long as do the readings and discussion boards, you'll be fine.
He was a very tough grader on discussion post and did not give as many extra credit points as other people said he did.
I'm taking this course online right now and it's a joke. You will be expected to learn SOLELY from the textbook, the occasional "lectures" are 5ish minutes long and add no additional information. Incredibly picky grader. You essentially have to plagiarize the textbook to get a good grade, he'll find any reason he can to take away points.
really great course, wasn't sure i'd like it with a stressful election but the prof made the class enjoyable
This guy is top tier. Gave me second chances on multiple assignments. Provided quality feedback. I feel like a different person after this class. I will be recommending to my family members. My grandmother would love this class. Thanks for all the wonderful memories, I will miss you.
Prof. Kreger makes this intro politics class engaging. Attendance is required, but the weekly quizzes are manageable if you keep up with the readings. unstuck AI was a lifesaver for quiz prep - highly recommend!
I really like Prof. Kregerr, but just get ready to read and take a lot of notes. He's page was really easy to set up and organized. If you have any questions send him emails and he will get back to you almost immediately. Get ready to Read!!!
Honestly an amazing professor, makes the class engaging and uses real world topics to teach his lessons. Really makes an effort with his lessons, time goes by quick in his class!
Prof. Kreger always provided great feedback and offered extra credit opportunities. The course is almost entirely based on the textbook and vocabulary. He was accommodating and available to help through office hours and email.
he's not great at all! I would highly recommend STAYING AWAY FROM HIS CLASS! He doesn't understand student perspectives at all and literally thinks students are cheating on every assignment, and then gives them a zero without even letting them know. Its awful...im speaking from experience DON'T DO THIS TO YOURSELF!
ok so I studied everything on the midterm and final study guides and NOT A SINGLE thing was on there so ofc I failed not fun and very stressful
Awesome class and prof, learned alot and was one of the best online classes and i've taken alot, definitely recommend.
Not too much work, overall a good class but the textbook was never helpful and we weren't prepared too well for the midterm/final--but it's a fairly easy class so it didn't matter too much. Weekly quizzes but the prof is a good guy, he doesn't care much about late work, he even gave me an extension for my midterm.
Honestly take this professor he's really chill, I found lectures very interesting. The midterm and final exam were a little hard but he provides study guides which I feel like helped I just didn't put my all into studying but if I did I would've gotten a better grade. He is understanding if anything but overall I would take him again
If you don't study or like to study it will be hard BUT if you do somewhat study you will pass, he makes lectures interesting and isn't biased politically, if you like to skip class then this is not the professor for you as class work is graded but you don't know which ones are participation points but overall a great teacher highly recommend!!
He was overall a good professor. He does take discussion boards seriously. Make sure you use at least 3 vocab words and I usually tried to make it a minimum of 200 words and got a 15/15 on almost all of them.I failed my midterm and Final and was able to pass with a B since I did good on everything else. So this class is VERY easy to pass if you try.
Grades discussion board post harsher than the essays. Exams are on lockdown browsers, my "browser quit" during the midterm... causing me to end it abruptly as is was over thirty questions in.I could not retake the exam due to the completion of a certain amount of questions a my grade was then unsatisfactory. HE GAVE ASSIGNMENTS DURING BREAKS!
The professor demonstrated strong organizational skills, course materials that were well structured and easy to follow. The presentation of content at times reflected a noticeable political bias. While the material was conveyed clearly, certain interpretations were emphasized more than others, which limited exposure to a broader range of viewpoints.
He is a tough grader, but grading criteria is clear. Discussion board and quiz every week, but manageable. Gives study guides for the midterm and final exam. Gives good feedback for the discussion boards and pretty much everything else. Good professor.
