A great teacher, his lectures are great, but he talks fast. He always does a review that will cover all the material on the test. He is very willing to help he will even come in on his day off and hold additional classes if needed. He also does ex. credit

Lamb is a wonderful teacher. If you ever need help, he will spend as much time as needed to get you to understand. Although, he teaches so well the first time you rarely ever need to get tudoring. His love of math rubs off on his students. He's the best!

I had Jon for Calc II in the spring. He was always very excited and energetic for each class. He loves his subject and cares for his students more than any other professor I've had. Best math teacher I've had so far at PSTCC. It is Calc, so don't slack off and you will do fine.

Very funny, intelligent professor. Mr. Lamb teaches more stuff than the other 1130 teachers do but is able to relate the material in an easily understandable way. Unlike many other classes, no class time is ever wasted. We are always working the "BEAUTIFUL" math problems. He is so nice and is very generous with the grades.

LAMB IS THE BEST TEACHER EVER. He tells you what is on the test and makes sure you know the material!

I can't imagine a teacher more dedicated to his profession. He literally goes out of his way to see to it that his students succeed. He even reviewed with us at his house on the weekend before a test. He put us ahead of his plans so that we could do well. He is a great teacher but more importantly he is the kindest person you may ever meet.

This guy sure does know his statistics. I had the class with both Jackson and Lee before at PSTCC. Neither come close to teaching the material like Jonathan. We learn so much each long class but we are laughing as we do it because he is so unintentionally funny! I can't recommend his stats class more highly.

Jon is a great teacher, He will make sure that you understand the material. He's a very nice and approchable guy. After taking college algebra with him I made sure I had calc 1,2 with him. Even after I wasnt in his class anymore I would go to him for help and he would help.. If you have the opportunity to get him, get him!

Jonathan teaches fast so I personally got left behind in lecture. BUT eveyone else seemed to understand it, so one day I asked to see him outside of class for help. When I visited him during office hours, he made EVERYTHING we went over in class very clear. All you have to do is go to his office hours and you'll get an A in the class. GREAT TEACHER

Lamb makes his classes as simple as possible, without compromising the material. He loves his job, and is very helpful. Tests are tough, but if you study for them, you'll do well. Before I entered his class, I had zero interest in math, but he makes it fascinating. I would recommend him to anyone.

Lamb has to be one of the most gifted mathematicians around. He can calculate numbers in his head like no other. I am impressed that he be so smart and at the same time present the information at a level to where anyone can understand. Anyone can tell he loves what he does. Oh man...Lamb is fun but he is very hard for those of us not great in math. If you want to learn math, then he is for you. Im never able to make his office hours but he has multiple help options. He is VERY willing to help anyone who shows effort. Absolutely the best - BUT you must work hard, unless you dream of beautiful math problems. :)

Great professor. It is a very tough class, but he teaches well. He is very reasonable on grading to compliment how hard the class is. For an example, one of his normal test questions is another professor's 15 point bonus question at the end of the test. Very energetic and keeps me from dozing off.

Awesome professor. In this class Calculus is fun, beautiful, and gorgeous. Be sure you attend class and do the homework. If you work hard, Professor Lamb will do everything to help you out. The exams are pretty difficult; however, use the practice exam to study for the test to do well.

His practice tests, however, very closely resemble his real tests, which can fool you into thinking you know the material better than you do. Believe me. This is a teacher worth going out of your way to get for any class. He will stay late, meet you early, gives out his cell phone number, offers online resources, student assistants and personal assistance at his office. Truly dedicated to his students and teaching, and has a knack for making an otherwise tedious class, funny and exciting!

He tells you he's a hard grader but his tests are really much easier than those given by other professors. Take him if you want a reasonbly easy grade but avoid him if you want to be challenged.

I just got my grade for our summer statistics class. I made a B. I am not good at math but Jon was crystal clear with explanations which helped a lot. He is very caring and will do whatever it takes to help you succeed. To counter the poster below he admittedly was nice to our class on his tests this summer. I learned a lot and enjoyed the class.

Honestly, I have never had a more excellent teacher - ever. He truly cares about whether or not his students understand and succeed. Don't take this class if you don't want to learn (you would just be hurting an otherwise amazing experience for the ones who care). He grades according to how much you demonstrate your understanding: How it should be.

Loved Professor Lamb! He teaches clearly and with enthusiasm. He loves what he does and it shows. He also really cares about his students and wants us to succeed but will not lower his high standards to ensure that. Instead, he finds ways to help you achieve those standards. I've never earned an A in a Math class before, and I haven't taken Math in almost 15 years. I had to work really hard, but Lamb is such a great teacher, I was able to catch on by mid semester and my test grades improved a little every time. I've always hated Math, but this ended up being my favorite class this semester, and I'm an English major!

By far the best math professor at Pellissippi... I am now at UT and even tho I am done taking math classes, I still miss awesome professors like him who are very clear in explaining the material. It was also refreshing to see someone truly LOVE what they do. I highly recommend him.

Had Lamb for 1730 through 1920. Never had anyone else who cared as much about math or about my success (both in his class and in life). You will come across few people who want to help out as much as he does. His content knowledge, ability to teach, and all-around awesomeness are unmatched. I have an ME from UTK now. Never had a better prof.

Simply the best! I enjoy his lecture style. He does not insult your intelligence like most math teachers by asking you to answer annoyingly easy stuff when demonstrating questions just to make sure you pay attention. He explains and works the problem and then asks if you have questions...the way it should be!

Jon provides his students with tons of resources to help them succeed. He knows the material and can explain it in an efficient manner. He is without a doubt my favorite math professor. If you cannot succeed with him, you should just quit.

Mr. Lamb is BY FAR, the greatest professor I have ever had! He is not the normal boring teacher. Somehow, he managed to make Calculus 1&2 exciting for me! He is the only professor I've ever seen truly LOVE their job. All in all, he is probably the BEST professor at Pellissippi and if you have a chance to take his class, I would HIGHLY recommend it!

Lamb provides his students a range of options so we can choose to customize his course to how we want it to be. He allows 3 options ranging from "smart slacker" the no homework option to "tons of homework" where half of your grade can be up to your homework from book and online. The thought he puts into setting up his class is unmatched. FANTASTIC!

Exceptional enthusiasm and clarity of thought. Animates an otherwise boring subject matter into something wildly entertaining using humor and a different viewpoint. Prof has an excellent ability to use example after example to get his ideas across.He's the sweetest, most amusing math professor anywhere!

Prof Lamb works hard to make sure his class suit any type of student. He teaches clearly and with constant enthusiasm. I don't think I ever saw him in a less than stellar mood. That helped make the class enjoyable. His ability to explain the stats information was great. The difficult problems were made easy thanks to him.

PreCalculus went great over the summer with Jon. He is very clear and concise and extremely helpful. Any good student will do well with him even if they are bad at math. One of my favorite teachers of all time. I cannot think of how the class could have been conducted any better.

Took Math 1710 this past summer with Jonathan Lamb. Very passionate about math and is happy to help you anytime you struggle with anything. lectures are very clear and explains things until you understand. Only down side is he only offers 4 tests and the final so make sure you do well on the tests. Plenty of extra credit and option to drop a test

Jon is an AMAZING professor! I absolutely hate math, but I found myself liking it because of him. He gets excited about this stuff and he hilarious. "GORGEOUSNESS" as he refers to hypothesis testing formulas! If you need a math credit, be ready to work your butt off but know that he is willing to go above and beyond for his students! Awesome!!!

I took his calculus class & it was one of my first college classes, but he definitely set me off to a good start. He was a very clear teacher that always kept his students engaged with his energetic personality. He obviously cares about the class and the students. He was always offering help and extra credit options. Moderately hard but worth it.

Here is the deal, whether you like math or not, he will be by far your favorite teacher!! He really cares about his students and wants them to pass. I was very nervous going into the course because of weak math classes in the past, but no worries!! He taught that hard problems were "gorgeous" and easy were "boring." Plenty of extra help provided

Had Mr. Lamb for Math 1710 and Math 1910 and he is a great instructor. Fairly easy grader and gives extra credit for tests. Highly suggest taking him if you can. One negative thing I do notice is he tends to get carried away with making problems more difficult if they are too easy, but that's his only flaw from being perfect

He never judges you for asking any questions no matter how dumb they are, if you want to succeed he will go out of his way to make sure you do. I took his Calculus 1 class over the summer and homework was optional, there was only 4 tests with no final and all his content was posted online including the pages of the textbook and he would stay before or after class to help you understand the math. Lamb is the best math teacher Ive ever had. I took his calc 1 class and loved it so much that I revolved my schedule the next semester around having him for calc 2. His passion for teaching and math is obvious. Even though the homework is optional, I recommend doing it to get 1/3 of missed test points back. He is very understanding and flexible.

Professor Lamb is by far the best prof at Pelli. He made calculus look so easy. His lectures are amazing and he actually cares about your success in his class. Before every test he has a review that he goes over step by step and it looks very similar to the test. If you take calculus and don't take him, you're wasting your time honestly.

If I couldve done class in person at the school I couldve gotten a better grade but Professor Lamb is super nice and makes class online fun! I do prefer his in class lectures! Amazing teacher. You can tell he puts a lot of effort into making this class non-stressful and easy to understand. Very organized and very detailed. I've never enjoyed math at all but Calc 2 became my FAVORITE CLASS the semester I had him--and everyone told me I was missing out because I had to take the class on Zoom. Excellent. Provides ample resources for his students to succeed. He goes above and beyond to ensure students have practice on everything they will be tested on. While 50% of our grade is determined by only 2 tests, the tests were very fair and perfectly reflected our practice. Also, not having a time limit is helpful for slower workers like myself.

This teacher is great. The reviews should make that apparent. This guy cares about you as much as he thinks integration w/ substitution is gorgeous! If you go async Don't get to far behind like I did it'll make things hard. Some of the concept's take a bit to really set in and intergrating for hours at a time can be rough. Best math prof ever.

Excellent professor who both knows the material he teaches and thoroughly enjoys teaching altogether. His class is very clearly organized, and his videos are both plentiful and helpful. While 60% of the grade was determined by 4 tests, his numerous help videos and willingness to help individually make this completely fair. Definitely recommend.

I decided to take a summer class although I attend a different school from which I dropped calc 2 originally, and it may have been the best college decision I have made yet. He is clear, simple, smart, and his lectures make you actually understand the content.

I took an online Calc 2 summer course, a very fast-paced class. His lectures were great and he was very responsive and helpful. There was a lot of homework, but it was necessary to understand the material. He lets you know exactly what kind of problems you will see on the tests through his study guides. His online course was well layed out.

If you are taking calculus here, restructure your entire schedule to get Dr. Lamb. I am sad this is my final class with him, because he is so great. His teaching skills are unrivaled, and he is simply a great person to be around. The homework is optional, and can either be done through achieve or written out. If you can, TAKE DR. LAMB.

Was one of the most communicative classes I've ever taken (even compared to humanities classes) due to his developing a deep rapport with his students. Fair grading with generous and fun extra credit (e.g., math bowl).

I was originally registered for Dr Lamb's online Calc ll class but found that I needed the extra help so I started going to his in person class. Dr Lamb was the best math professor I've ever had. His in person lectures are amazing, his homework help videos are amazing, and he truly puts in so much effort for his students to succeed.

Lamb is by far the best Calculus Professor at Pellissippi State. After my Calc 1 class, I was directed by fellow students to take his class and I'm glad I did. He goes above and beyond to help everyone in his class. I didn't have a math class for 5 years and he reminded me of all the pre-calculus I had long forgotten. Thanks Lamb!

This is definitely not an easy class to take and pass, however, prof. Lamb makes this class as fun and upbeat as possible. He really cares about each student and does everything he possibly can to help everyone. Wish I would have taken him for calculus 1.
