Incredibly good instructor. Teaches the material very clearly. Assigns an average amount of homework.
Teaches a very large class but don't let that scare you away. He is a great teacher. Very clear. minimal homework.
Mr. Lee is no doubt the best calc professor out there. He gets so excited about teaching calculus. He's one of those professors who will acually be there during his office hours and is more than willing to help you, if you'll just ask.
take him if you can even though its a big class
Take Charles Nunley, he is nicer and a lot easier. Mr. Lee is good, but he isn't that effective.
Awesome guy. Has kind of a goofy sense of humor that shines through sometimes. Great teacher though, and very clear about what he wants you to know and what will be expected of you.
Excellent teacher. Very helpful. Very understanding. Good sense of humor.
Very helpful and fun. Great sense of humor.
Very easy to understand and very helpful. Tests aren't too bad either!
Great professor - makes learning Calculus interesting and fun...and understandable. Tests aren't difficult, just study the notes and quizzes.
Great professor and tests aren't too hard. He is very easy to understand and explains things very well. Study quizzes and notes!
GREAT TUTOR. Cool guy.

Very good teacher, very clear always willing to help.
Great Teacher, take him if you can.
Fantastic teacher, well-organized, sharp guy. Take him for everything you can.
Great teacher!!!
Thorough, but a terrible grader. He will take off points for every possible thing. If you forget one 'a=' on a quiz, you get a 75. I took Calc before and got an A, yet still received poor grades due to his ridiculous obsession with deducting points. I don't recommend this class.
He is really nice... but really, his grading is TERRIBLE. Takes off tons of points for little things. He is very particular. It sucks cause he is a real nice guy, but man his quizzes and test I feel are very difficult. He teaches the very basic basic problems in class, and then the next day quizzes you over the very advanced versions! Really sucks.
He is a great professor, but really does count off heavily for notation errors. Getting the right answer is only half the battle with this guy. It has to be done exactly the way he wants. Very helpful though, and he does have a good sense of humor. Makes class interesting sometimes. No extra credit though and tests are pretty difficult.
Lee is a good teacher. The only grades are quizzes and the exams, homework is just for your own benefit. He cares a lot about units and notations. He puts all his notes online and is always available for help. The material is much harder then bus calc 1, but Lee explains everything really well. He also writes the exams, so take him if you can.
If you have to take this class get him. He is by far the best teacher at this subject. Study old tests and you will do fine.
Lee knows what he's doing and it comes through in his teaching. Very good examples in class and he tells you whats going to be on quizzes and exams. His grading is pretty thorough and you can miss some points for dumb mistakes. Overall, he's a knowledgeable guy who teaches well and doesn't mind helping you in office hours.
You have to do the homework and study a lot for this class. Lee does a good job at explaining concepts and uses multiple examples. He creates the tests for the Calc 2 & Calc 1 classes.
Lectures are awesome. He explains everything very clearly and solves the problem with you, not jumping ahead with a ready-solved sheet. Very helpful. Gives about 1-2 week heads up for quizzes.
Definitely take this class. I was terrified for Calc 2 after not having calc since high school, but he explains things so well. Things I had to go to tutoring on to understand in high school, I got right away when he explained them. Really smart guy and he's super witty also. He makes the tests so you already know the things he'll ask.
Ridiculous. No matter what you say to him and that you are right about he for some god forsaken reason thinks he is right. Even if you have proof he won't look at it.
If you are taking business calculus 2, you have to have him if you want to pass the class. He is an amazing teacher.
Easy to understand and work with. Was clear and would go over almost everything.
He is the best Calc teacher I've ever had! He is very clear and takes time to explain everything step by step. This was my second time taking the class and I got an A. I took Barksdale the first time and failed it. Homework isn't mandatory. He gives amazing feedback and grades super fast! take him! you wont regret it
Very good teacher. He knows how to explain the material so you can understand it. Tests are fair and graded somewhat leniently (much easier grader than Barksdale). Highly recommended.
He is so amazing! if you pay attention to the lecture, you will definitely do well. Calc 1 background is needed. sometimes he gives extra credits on the test without announcing them before.
I took this course at U of OK, from their self-paced curriculum. I will say that time and effort will pay off. Mr. Lee is always there to help in any way he can. Calc is not something I recommend doing self-paced, unless you have no other choice. 4 tests, 25 lessons, HW each lesson. Must be someone that can focus time!
Great professor. Explains things well, and is helpful during office hours. Come to class, do the homework, and you will pass. Highly recommend.
He's got good intentions, but not a great lecturer. I left confused most of the time because he goes way too fast to take notes and pay attention at the same time. Not a bad professor, but I would recommend Tinsley over him.
It's Calc 2. It will be tough. Lee does a very good job explaining the material and if you pay attention and take good notes, you'll do fine.
Easy to understand lectures. Puts all the notes online so if you are good at teaching yourself you really only have to go to class for the quizzes (which he always announces).
The guy truly cares about the subject and that can be seen by his very passionate lectures. While his lectures are phenomenal with content and help, they move at an extremely fast pace. If you respond to one text and not write with your pen, next thing you know you will miss a tough topic. He makes the tests... and he makes them hard.
Mr. Lee teaches in a way which helps you understand things relatively easy and he posts all notes online. However his tests can be somewhat tough, but it's nothing you haven't learned about.
I hate math, and Calc 2 is an especially difficult class for me, that being said, Dr Lee does a great job at explaining all the material in class and doing multiple examples. He goes over what is on every quiz and test beforehand, and makes everything clear. Its a hard class, but he does a great job teaching it.
I bombed my placement test and was forced to take this class. I wasn't looking forward to it but he made it enjoyable! He teaches extremely well. He taught me new ways to do certain problems that I have taken with me to my higher level classes. I never understood math more than when I took this class. He made the DMAT class worth it. Get him!!!
Dr. Lee is a a very poor professor. He is not fair to students who have to put in more effort than others. His tests are very tough and he makes the tests 100 times harder than the practice exams. I would honestly just take another professor if I were you. 12/10 would not recommend.
I absolutely loved Professor Lee! He explained concepts extremely well and worked out tons examples that would be like on the test. If you do all the practice tests and understand the material, you're golden on the tests.
Final exam was not like any of the practice tests. Be sure to know everything that he goes over in class.
Professor Lee is one of the best teachers I've ever had. I don't like math but he is extremely good at explaining concepts and really takes the time to make sure everyone understands. He is very approachable. Also, he doesn't take attendance and if you miss a class he always uploads the notes. Great teacher!
Dr. Lee is outstanding. He explains everything very very well. You have 9 or 10 quizzes that are announced at least a week in advance. The exams are similar to the old exams, but not identical. That seems to be most peoples complaint, but this is college you need to earn it. Recommend 100%
fixable attendance, clear explanation, great professor
Most of the people who complain about the tests being different from the old tests have not done the homework problems. You need to be prepared for type of problem he gives you, multiple different ways. If you know the concepts and how to do the problems when asked in a different way, you'll do fine. Pay attention to details. He is a good professor
one of the best math teachers i have had. everything is very clear and he is helpful. if you do the optional homework you will do well on the quizzes and test. the final is worth a lot of your grade (35%) and it is pretty hard compared to the other tests.
Lee is a great teacher. He tells you exactly what to expect on exams and wants you to do well. The class is made up of 6 quizzes, 3 tests and a final. I would recommend him for Calc 2!! He also writes the tests so that's a plus.
This class is graded based on only tests and quizzes. Homework is optional and isn't graded. Jonathan Lee is awesome and makes everything really clear to understand. As long as you go to class and actually try, you will do fine
He was a very good teacher. The only thing I did not like was that the only grades he puts in are tests and quizzes. I got A's on all of my quizzes and did pretty well on two of my tests, but because I didn't do very good on just one of the exams, I think I will end up with a B and lose my 4.0. Although it was hard, he is a very good teacher.
Mr. Lee is a great teacher!!!! He tells you everything you need to know question by question for all tests and quizzes. He also posts exams from the previous two years on canvas so if you do those to prepare for tests you will most likely get an A.
Lee is so chill and such a good professor. He does a lot of examples in class and the practice exams are good practice for the actual exams. He makes his grading criteria very clear and I can tell he genuinely wants his students to succeed. I never did the homework, just studied lecture notes and old exams. Lee also always posts his notes online.
Professor Lee is alright. The work wasn't particularly hard and I didn't find his lectures particularly interesting but I managed to do just fine. Lee is very specific about his grading and he will take off for little things (frustrating). The whole class is tests and quizzes (there is no homework), so just make sure to double check all your work.
Prof. Lee was a good teacher, but the material is very hard. He also grades by a few things which are only quizzes and tests, and if you are like me and are not a good test taker this class will not be easy for you. There is also no extra credit so that sucked.
Professor Lee is a good teacher. He's kind and presents the material well, but... the class is made up of just 4 tests and 9 quizzes. A lot of the questions on the tests/quizzes are curveball questions, meaning they were a little more advanced than what was taught in class and the questions that are fair, he grades harshly.
Professor Lee is a super kind and caring professor. The class was only based on quizzes and exams which made it difficult for me. He presents the lectures clearly and his grading criteria is very clear if you pay attention. Youll have to do some extra work if you struggle in math but overall a pretty good class.
I lovedddd prof lee. I was so nervous to take calc online, but he taught so well. best 9/12 quizzes taken for a grade, 4 exams and a final. you have to do good on these things , but there is plenty of resources to do well. everything open note for the class online. I would take him again, prolly one of my favorite professors (I'm a junior)
Online class was a bit different this year because of COVID, I'm glad he was flexible enough to make our tests/quizzes open notes. The professor provides really in-depth and comprehensive notes that outline exactly what will be on any test/quiz. My one critique is how many quizzes and tests we have (5 tests, 9 quizzes).
Professor Lee was amazing. I was a little nervous to be taking calc online, but he made everything so easy to understand. He was super easy to get in contact with outside of class as well. He's a super understanding guy and I can't say enough good things about him.
Mr. Lee isn't bad, but the fact that his "review days" before exams consist of us working on homework we have to do anyway- is completely pointless. I have failed every single exam for this course and that is a first for me. I am not even sure I'll end up passing. Lots of homework, not the issue, its the exams being way harder than the practice.
The best MATH 1743 professor that you can take at OU. I took another professor last semester and withdrew from his class because of his teaching style. Professor Lee is very easy to understand. He is an excellent teacher and I would recommend taking him over any other math professor!!
Professor Lee was a good teacher, however at times he can be a little boring per say and it can be easy to get distracted and not listen to the lectures. He is great about giving feedback and help if you ask him for it though. His class is mainly quizzes and the exams but overall he's a decent choice!
Professor Lee teaches every concept step-by-step, posts the lecture notes within a couple hours after lecture, and is available after class and during his office hours. Attendance isn't required, but I suggest going consistently since the course 1743 is graded solely on tests and quizzes. He truly cares about us understanding the class material!
I loved his class and he made the concepts very clear and easy to understand. He gives a quiz about every other week and generally are open note! I would recommend doing the practice tests he provides because it is basically the real exam. The lecture can drag sometimes, but overall an easy A if you attend lecture and review before the tests.
Prof. Lee is amazing and I 100% recommend him. He made the best out of a class that isn't considered college level and makes sure every student gets help if needed. He is super caring and gives tons of access to tutoring, extra help and has review days before exams. I scored high A's on every exam and I am not a math person. 10/10 amazing.
If you attend lectures and take good notes, this class is very easy. Professor Lee is amazing and explains the material in understandable ways. The practice exams are good study material and he tells you exactly what you need to know in his lectures. The class is graded on quizzes and exams.
Grades very harsh no extra credit.
He is one of the better math professors and he makes the material easier to understand than others. Some quizzes online and some in class. The class is very detail orientated as for tests and quizzes.
Mr. Lee is a fabulous professor. I was worried about taking calculus (bio major) but he made it so easy. If you attend class, you will be fine. He makes expectations for quizzes and exams very clear. Gives plenty of practice exams that are very similar to the exam questions. If you are worried about calculus take it with Mr Lee!
Professor Lee is the best prof hands down. He clearly states what will be on each quiz and exam and tells you exactly what will earn points or not. The lectures can get a little boring, but its math, what do you expect. He also is very good at clarifying things if you are confused or ask any questions. 10/10 prof and highly recommend for an easy A
Though there is not a lot of other assignments besides 12 quizzes, 3 exams, and 1 final. He also does drop 3 quizzes though I would take all exams and quizzes seriously. Also, I highly recommend showing up to all lectures because you will fail if you don't. Another thing is the test are on 7:30-8:45 pm on Tuesdays despite what time your class is.
Don't know if it was just me, but I did not learn anything from him. Would not recommend for lower level math classes. He goes through the material very quick. I'm sure he's great but just not for DMAT classes. 4 exams, 1 final, quizme's matter and help grade a lot.
Professor Lee delivered good lectures on difficult material for his Business Calculus class. Be prepared to go to tutoring if you want an A, but know that 1743 is difficult and while professor Lee did a great job of covering material in class, there are few opportunities to test your knowledge of the material before being graded on a quiz or exam.
Best calc prof at OU. He posts notes online (if you miss class- lifesaver) and does a million examples. Tests and quiz criteria is laid out by each problem so u are never surprised. He posts practice exams/reviews and is super kind. Makes a harder math class seem like a breeze. Show up, practice the problems, you'll do great. I got a high A :)
Professor Lee was my favorite math professor that I have ever had. I have never been super comfortable with math, but he made Calc II a breeze. He would respond to questions over email quickly and his lectures were clear. He did so many examples that preparing for the exams was not intimidating.
Lee is a decent professor. The only grades are quizzes and exams so that can be difficult and sometimes his lectures could be clearer.
GO TO CLASS. If you skip, go over the lecture notes he posts. In comparison to other math profs at OU, Professor Lee actually writes the math out instead of throwing it at you on slides. He answers emails quick and his office hours are helpful. Go to class, do the homework and worksheets, get the help he readily provides, and you'll be fine.
Dr. Lee is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Although math generally bores me, he finds ways to connect concepts and make the curriculum interesting. Attendance is not required but I would highly recommend attending as much as possible (learned from experience).
Professor Lee was a good professor. His notes were a little confusing at times but as long as you pay attention and attend class you'll be fine.
Lee is an okay professor. His lectures are sometimes unclear however the practice tests on canvas are the only thing that are a life safer. He also doesnt offer notes but instead just does example problems on the board which kind of sucks.
Lee is a great professor. The class is difficult, but he explains the concepts pretty well. He is helpful, and he responds to his emails right away. The practice exams are very helpful because they are similar to the real ones. Attendance is not mandatory, but I would highly recommend going.
His notes can be confusing at times, but he is a pretty good professor. Homework is optional since it is just for your own practice and grades are based only on tests and quizzes. We took about 12 quizzes total and 4 of our lowest grades got dropped so that helped my grade tremendously. You also get partial credit on questions which also helped.
Clearest and best math professor I've ever had! I was intimidated by calculus, but he actually made me enjoy math again! The only grades given are quizzes and exams, so be prepared and study!
Professor Lee was an amazing professor. I struggled in math and he was willing to help me no matter what. The homework was a pretty good and gave us time in class to finish it.
Your grade is based on quizzes and tests. He is a tough grader, with no clear feedback, condescending in-office hours, and the least flexible professor I have ever had. His notes are unclear and do not use workbooks or any structure like the other 1743 classes. No opportunities for extra credit or to raise your grade. Just don't do it.
Best math professor I have ever taken. This class is not easy, however Professor Lee makes the class seem like a breeze. Lecture notes were extremely helpful and he makes it very clear the types of questions you will have on exams and quizzes. He posts lecture notes onto canvas after every class, so even if you miss class you will not be behind.
A great professor, like so good I'm convinced anyone who didn't like him didn't study or attend lectures. Go to lectures, take notes on the problems step by step. He tells u exactly what's going to be on the exams, and all u have to do is recreate the same problems he did in class. ALSO DO THE TEXTBOOK PROBLEMS HE GIVES
He was an amazing professor. His tests were exactly based on what he covered in class and very similar to the practice tests. He explains and writes everything step by step in class for us to understand. I recommend him for Bus Calc.
Mr.Lee is a sporadic teacher and lacks the ability to explain what he is lecturing on in detail. He is a really nice guy and kind teacher, but in terms of lecturing he is overall not great at it. I would just recommend taking the other prof for 1743.
Loved this professor! He goes over every quiz which ultimately accumulates into the exams so PLEASE GO TO CLASS. even thou it's not mandatory it will serve you in the long run. please take notes, they quite literally saved my grade. if you need help, he's always willing to take the time
He teaches exactly what you need to know so GO TO CLASS. Overall, he gives as much credit as he can for class. Recommend working on hw out of class (hw is not a grade) with other students. He knows exactly what to teach and tells you what you need to know. his biggest con is that he doesn't review material other than the exam day.
Mr. Lee was a great professor that truly cared about his lectures and how well students understood his material. Although the class is only weighted on tests and quizzes so make sure you study the material well. I would not recommend this class if you aren't willing to attend most days because sitting in class is extremely helpful.
I would highly recommend attending lectures as well as taking good notes. The course grade is heavily dependent on quizzes and exams, so it's best to practice and familiarize yourself with each unit using practice questions. He is also very accommodating if you had to take an extended absence in addition to providing ample resources on each unit.
I LOVED LEE. He works through problems completely and always scans his notes from lecture. He takes questions whenever but on review days he only works on problems we need. Only thing in grade book was quizzes and tests but lowest 3 quizzes are dropped. Practice tests are exact types of problems so use those to prepare.
The BEST math professor I have so far. Professor Lee makes math understandable, easy to learn, and he's very understanding. I know this site is for review, but I just wanted to say that I have talked to him in explaining why I missed his class for 2 weeks due to a cold, he understood and said that it is okay, as long as your here, its good. 10/10.
Mr. Lee is the best! His class has many resources on canvas and the homework is not mandatory. He teaches difficult concepts but makes them very easy to understand. If you have the option to take him, do it.
Professor J. Lee is awesome! He's super knowledgeable and explains things really well, he knows what is he doing. He uploads his class notes to Canvas and even does video reviews for exams. Definitely taking him again—10/10!
Dr. Lee had to leave mid semester but from the experience I had with him he was really good. He made sure to make things simple and to give us the easiest way of learning the concept. He made the quizzes open book and online and the exams are structured exactly like the practice exams on campus. Definitely take him for this course!
The class is actually so hard. Attendance is worth 4% of your grade but trust me GO. TO. CLASS. If you skip ONE day you feel so behind because he covers a lot of material very fast. He drops your 2 lowest quiz scores and the final replaces your lowest test. It's possible to get an A/B but you have to lock in all semester. He's really nice otherwise
Professor Lee is great at explaining concepts, and often times I saw people that struggled were the ones that didn't attend class frequently. If you show up to class and pay attention, he will teach you everything you need to know for the exams and quizzes.
I cannot say how much I love this professor. If you want a basic math professor who will explain stuff perfectly to you, Dr. Lee is your guy. His lectures were very straightforward, and he was honestly pretty funny at some points. Exams are easy, and he is very helpful when it comes to exam prep. Would literally take his class again if I could.
Terrible prof for a terrible class
He is not a good professor. The math department is all so bad. You won't know your exam grade for 3 weeks. He goes way too fast and doesn't pause for anything. He is bad
He doesn't follow any structure in his lessons, he kind of just talks and you're expected to know everything. His lessons and notes are all over the place.
Class lectures are unorganized, and he expects you to have already an understanding of what he's teaching. Expect to lose many points on the exam for incorrect units throughout the question as a whole. Mandatory attendance and practice exam questions offered to use offer little to no help on the exams.
Notes and lectures are all over the place and he takes weeks to grade a singular quiz
Professor Lee is great at his job and I learned a lot from him. Most of your grade will be based on exams and quizzes. You need to dedicate a lot of time outside of class if you want a good grade and dont skip as you will quickly fall behind. Overall I would recommend him.
I've always been bad at math and I've never enjoyed it. Somehow, Professor Lee got me to like calculus. He's really good at teaching and as long as you take the time to study and listen to his lectures, you'll do well in his class
Prof. Lee was by far the best mathematics professor I have ever had. If you get anything less than an A it's your fault. His lectures were perfectly paced and were all published on canvas. If anyone gives him anything less than a 5, they were doing something wrong.
