I've never done this well in math. Somehow I just "get" what he's saying, plus he's a good guy & respects when you try hard and do well.

Is a great teacher! I highly recommend taking his class, nice, funny and very helpful! If you don't like math you should try to get a class with him!

Oaks is a pretty awesome person in general. He makes silly remarks after some of his 5 minute long problems he solves on the board, like "I hope everyone enjoyed that as much as I did." in a very enthusiastically monotone voice lol. He's really helpful, but he rarely explains certain things. If you ask him, he'll be more than happy to help.

i had professor oaks for my math 0070 class and it wasnt that hard of a class. he is a really smart individual and loves math. he always creates new ways to help his students via ANGEL. he knows the answer to just about any math question you throw at him.

Professor Oaks is really good at what he does. Extremely helpful teacher. Also I had the Pokemon theme song running through my head on the way to class each morning. Anyway, the dude is a major player and you can check his stats; I know HE does.

Comparing him to Musallam, Williams and Walker, Oaks is by far the easiest math professor at mcc out of them all. I did learn alot but he was very easy compared to the others that ive mentioned above. I recommend taking him! He replies back to emails very quickly but be respectful and thoughtful or he will look the other way. A++

Professor Oaks is a great instructor. He really gives a lot of information you can use in your classroom. I did not realize it until after the course, but he provide information that helped me pass the basic skills test for teaching. He is very helpful. Just be respectful, after all we are adults. OUTSTANDING INSTRUCTOR. Go to class, take notes, do online homework, do take home problems and you can do well. By no means is it easy but this is THE BEST MATH TEACHER AROUND.

He made me really interested 4 the first time ever in math, especially stats! However, he is very egotistical, will humiliate students (mostly when HE doesn't understand what you're asking), & comes off as a jerk many times. If u need the help & ASK he is there for u. No textbook. Most tests were take-home! He does grade tough. Wont up a 79% :(

As long as you do good on his quizzes and homework you can fail the final and still get a good grade! All quizzes and test are take home and you can work with others. Professor Oaks is AMAZING! He makes the class laugh the entire time and has a great sense of humor. He makes class enjoyable and I am kind of sad its almost coming to an end. He is clear in his expectations. Does mymathlab homework, gives practice tests that help you know what to prepare for. I wish MCC had more like him. Nicest man and cares!

Professor oaks is the funniestcoolest math teacher in macomb. Class was based on a online course. If you have B or higher then you don't have to show up in class except for the chapter tests and final. You must do the work on time and ask for help if you need and do the extra credit, BE NICE, communicate and you will do good.

As a CompSci major, I have to take a lot of math. I took PreCalc and Calc one with him, and was extremely disappointed that I could not take Calc2 with him. He's extremely helpful and very sweet. The best professor I have had at Macomb. Classes are enjoyable and he really cares about his students and goes far to help them pass. Take him if you can.

Honestly, the best math teacher at Macomb. He is hilarious and will make you laugh all semester. I suck at math and he helped me learn it. Attendance not mandatory, but you need to show up bc he does several sections in 1 day. ALL homework and quizes are EXTRA CREDIT. Please take advantage of that, it will save your grade. Seriously an awesome guy.

Oaks is an amazing professor! I am currently taking him for Stats & had his Calc I class last summer. He may move a little fast during his lectures, but he is excellent & is very clear on what he expects out of you during the semester. You will enjoy your math class if you take it with him. Make sure to study before his exams, it will be beneficial

Easily one of, if not, the best professor I have ever had. I'm horrible with math and he was so helpful. He gave me additional time when needed and was able to answer all of my questions, and responds to emails within an hour or two. I plan on taking the rest of my math classes with him!

If your SCARED to take Stats, TAKE PROF OAKS! If you keep in constant communication with him, email or in person, and you TRY your hardest he definitely helps! He WANTS you to pass. Professor Oaks is really helpful. His online quizzes have the same formatting from the practice quizzes. The final exam is also very similar to the practice packet he gives near the end. Do all the problems and know who to use them well and you'll be fine.

This was online so I didnt get to meet Oaks. Seemed nice&caring thru email. This class was kind of a lot of work. You have to read thru sections, do practice problems, then take the quiz. 1 quiz for every chapter(8). If u do bad on the 1st quiz, u can do the 2nd quiz&the lowest grade is dropped. Easy A tho! Exam was a lil difficult, got a 81%.

Prof. Oaks is awsome! Very funny and energetic. Pre calc wasn't hard with him at all. His lectures can be long and boring but he tries to make the class fun. Gives take home quizzes almost every week. 4 tests and lots of online homework. Gives lots of extra credit and that's a great opportunity to pump your grade up! Overall, I recommend him 2 all!

This was online, lots of homework be prepared, it will be difficult if you don't follow his outline. 2 chances for every quiz and will take highest score. Very willing to provide additional help via links. Be prepared to learn without the calculator even though the course teaches with it. No Calculator allowed on exam, Tough Exam.

One of the funniest math teachers I have met so far. His lectures are amazing and all he talks about is tacos. However, he is super easy. 4 exams, take home quizzes, online homework and final exam. I hated the final exam because it brought my grade from A to a B. The department makes it so be ready for it.

Oaks is a good professor. He gives you notes to write on in class. Lecture-wise, he is okay but can be annoying when he jokes around while students have serious questions. HW and exams are medium difficulty. Class is mostly straight forward. He also offers extra credit.

I took Math1340online with him and i must say i have never met a professor who could be as caring about his students and their grades. My 2nd online math class w/ Oaks. Very nice guy. Quite a bit of reading & you must be able to grasp the info. You don't need to memorize the formulas b/c they are provided for you on the final that is on campus. You're graded on online hw probs., quizzes, and final. Final was a little difficult. Study, keep up, & you'll do decent. Curved grade.

I am studying to eventually pursue a major in applied mathematics, and I took Calculus 1 with Professor Oaks in the Winter 2017 semester. He was an amazing professor to have for calculus. He gave the class all of the notes and homework for the semester in a packet that was extremely organized and helpful. He truly helped me to understand everything

Easy A. I took math 1000 online with him. There are quizzes in each section. You have two chances; if you are not satisfied with your first quiz score then you can retake the second one. There are exams on each chapter. Toward the end, you have a final exam. You must earn 60% or higher to pass the class.

As far as the work, he will occasionally have an in-class assignment (a couple problems) and he assigns one quiz per week and a short homework assignment almost every class. He doesn't require a textbook but he gives you a note packet (free!). No powerpoints, no online homework--straightforward guy. I'd take him again and recommend him to anyone.

For a 1000 level class it is hard, be prepared to work you but(t) off to get an A, unless your really good at equations, functions, quadratic etc. Prof Oaks is great, responsive and approachable, I just thought the class was very hard, dont get behind.

Statistics didn't come easy to me and Prof. Oaks made the class much more enjoyable. Very entertaining. If you're not a math or numbers person he makes the class much more bearable

It was online, so Professor Oaks was more a facilitator. He was easy to contact. The class was straightforward: read, do work, take quiz. Put the effort in and you should pass. The online practice quizzes and exam are the keys to your success. Lot of homework. Must pass final with 60% minimum (math department policy for online classes)!

He actually is a great teacher. Its not a hard class but the biggest problem was there is A LOT of assignments. Every day there is a take home quiz, book work problem, online homework, and chapter quizes. there is never a day that I went to class and did not have an assignment to turn in, you should for sure take him without any other classes.

Best teacher at Macomb. Gives out a 200- stack of holed papers for a binder, and teaches off of that. If he has online homework what ever you covered in class is exactly what is quizzed on. Gives 1 quiz a week and you do a practice problem before you go home. Willing to stay after and help. If there i a problem test, its just a take home.

The class itself is super easy, but I feel like he gets lost in the moment and gets too off topic. Once he gets off topic, it takes him about 10 mins to get back to teaching. Don't get me wrong, he's nice professor and all but he just gets too sidetracked.

One of the best teachers at macomb, this was one of the most fun classes I have taken. This man gives out a 200 page print out of notes and problems, all take home quizes and take home tests. He explains the material and is funny as well, occasionally roasting students in a friendly way. He gives out extra credit and easy attendance points.

Overall a great professor to have for mathematics. A large amount of work to do online every week and a final exam at end of course. Must pass the exam with a C or better to pass the class, you are also given a practice final exam with unlimited attempts.

I hate math, but I loved my college algebra class with him. Homework is based on mastery. Once you answer enough questions right, you move on to the next subject with 100%. He responds quickly to questions and is eager to help! 10/10 would take again!

Great professor, I took Oaks for Calc 3 as well as differential equations. Calc 3 was in person / Diff EQ was online and both classes were simple and easy. If you don't want to study 40 hours a week on math you'll probably never use, take him!

This class was the last math class I needed before I could graduate and previous frustration with Math as a subject left me hopeless that I would ever receive my degree. He changed that when he taught the best class of Linear Algebra I had ever attended. No exams. No big hw assignments. No pressure. He valued learning above all else. Take him!!

I have taken other Math courses and I dreaded all of them until I took Math1000 with Professor Oaks. It was a 8 week course, syllabus was outlined clearly for each week. Each week consisted of chapter problems through Knewton & a weekly self assessment. No quizzes just one final at end of course. Prof. Oaks is available & responds quickly to emails

I took this in a 100% online 8 week class through Knewton. I really like the way he setup the course because it was easy to get through relatively quickly and you're guaranteed 100% on the coursework except the exam as long as you complete it - the system has you keep trying until you master the concepts. He was nice and the syllabus was clear.

Professor Oaks is a great teacher. This class is as easy as you can get with statistics. Every week there is a HW asmnt, a practice quiz, and a weekly quiz. If you take the practice quiz a few times each week and take notes on the formulas then you'll get 100% on every quiz. The quiz is just a shorter version of the prac quiz. Take him immediately.

Oaks is actually the greatest professor! He cares about his students. He is also really funny, especially for having the class at 8AM. This was my first time using Knewton and it was pretty good to use for all of the homework. I can't wait to have him for Linear Algebra!

I took a summer course, he provides online lectures. He gives a grace period for hw assignments without penalty. Also 2 free late passes are given to take a quiz after the due date. The practice quizzes is exactly like the actual quizzes and also he provides the final exam review. Each wk a discussion question, quiz, & hw are due. Take him!

The BEST math teacher, and you will enjoy his class, very understanding, and will talk you through any issues you may be having. I was overly worried about taking this class and he made me feel so calm and relaxed so I would stop overthinking 10/10. I pray I never had to make another math class, but if I do it would be with professor Oaks.

Great teacher, class isn't easy. Very accessible for questions, willing to help. LOTS of reading, don't submit work late. easy structure to follow. There is group work every two weeks but it isn't really "group work", moreso critiquing one other and choosing which of your two assignments to submit. Would recommend the teacher but the class is hard

He is such a caring and understanding professor! He teaches well, guides you along and helps whenever you have questions. One of the few professors I had the pleasure of taking. He wants to see his students learn. He works with you and if you even need extra help he is always there. He answers emails promptly as well. Definitely take him!!!!

He is very willing to help out if you ask questions. When given take-home tests I would do them and bring them back and he would tell me what I did wrong so I could correct and get over 100%. You will need to pace yourself because he will make everything do at the end of the year but do them when they should be done not when the canvas date says.

The class is not easy, especially the accelerated one, but the professor is amazing, & very helpful. He's fast at answering emails & willing to help if you ask. Didn't get a great grade but that was my fault. Don't submit late work! Make sure you check canvas every single day because there is always something due in short time. 100% recommend him!

Professor Oaks makes his classes very easy to do well in. I don't care too much for his teaching style and he seems to have a bit of trouble lecturing. Very easy class and easy grader but, It felt like he patronized students for asking questions. Sometimes it seemed he was joking, but it happened with most questions. Otherwise a good class.

Oaks is the best online math teacher hands down. I had him for stats, too, and the way everything is laid out is great. homework is a part of the textbook and sometimes is a lot, but this is an 8-week course. This professor is an absolute G! He gave 18 points of extra credit out of 400. Curved the final exam for everyone. Has very clear grading criteria on everything. However, I will say, get ready to put in the work. After a few weeks, I gave up understanding things and only had time to learn how to answer the question. Took it online 8 weeks.

One of my FAVORITE professors I've had yet! There are multiple different ways to get help with anything in the course. This includes: one-on-one, group, and more, for all learning styles. Each class was a chill and easy-going environment. Professor Oaks frequently provided drinks/snacks at no cost to the students. Very knowledgeable in math!

My only problem is getting used to the due dates. there was something due on wed. thurs. sat, and sun. which threw me off at first but once I understood his cycle, I was able to do good!
