He's an amazing teacher. You will learn so much from him.
A very good teacher, though sometimes things get lost in the giant lectures. He clearly loves what he does and conveys that to the students.
Very good professor...highly recommended.
Looks the Alan Rickman in Harry Potter :-P Really good teacher. Knows A LOT so you can definitely benefit from him. Show up to the lectures so that way you wont have to buy the textbook.
amaizing teacher, knows a lot--it'd obvious he loves what he is doing.extremly smart guy, this class was (unexpectly) a real joy, even for someone like me who is international student and had no clue about american histoy, realy interesting course!!!
He helps student often!
He is excellent!!!
Very interesting, intelligent, well-spoken. The course is easy if you do the work and the readings.
I LOVE HIM. he's so smart and just like everyone said you can tell he loves teaching. And he's cute.
Intelligent, knows what hes doing, and takes you step by step. Very clear, funny and helpful.
For a 100-level course he may be great, but in a small 300-level course, he is not. Would offer no real advice for improving writing so papers could improve. Yelled and was rude. Expected all students to be as familiar with the reading we had read once that he had read 5 times. Played favorites.
The best professors to have for a subject you know nothing about.Deep knowledge of the subject and amazing ability to communicate it to students. Genuine sense of humor. Polite. Always available after class.Study sheets before both exams.Especially helpful with writing:gives as much help as you need
great professor, easy to pass if you do your work.
One of the most amazing and talented educators to have come across. Extremely helpful and dedicated.
He is an excellent teacher. Makes history interesting! He is very articulate and goes at a good pace to make sure the information sinks in. I would definately recommend him. Plus, he is one of the few professors who takes the time to look professional!
I have never thought that a history class can be facinating and so interesting. He has the best stories and illustrations of history. Detailed study guide before exams. But you also need a good TA: Debora White is his best TA!
Professor Rosenberg is extremely dedicated to his students and always professional and courteous. He has a genuine desire to help students improve their writing skills...offered constructive comments on papers and individual writing consulations. A challenging, but highly rewarding course.
Can make someone who hated history love it! I am not an "A" student but I was for this class. Really interesting and actually fun, with a good book to read too! Totally reccommend!!!
Awesome professor, interesting lectures, funny, the kind of person that u need to be teaching a required history class
first of all - he is clear, articulate, sounds like one of the Owen brothers, and wears beautiful expensive suits everyday. He's great looking ladies so sit in the front. take good notes, you'll score an A. include characters from the little book in your exam essays and you'll make an A on those.
Prof. Rosenberg is one of the best teachers I had at Hunter. He has a professional demeanor and actually cares about his students progress. His exams are not tricky and he gives out study sheets. He is approachable. Overall, he is an effective teacher. I loved his class and learned a lot from him.
Professor Rosenberg is the best professor I have had at Hunter. He is extremely intelligent and passionate about his work. He brings history to life. I enjoyed this class very much and I learned a great deal. I highly recommend this class.
Rosenberg is God!!!!!If there is a shoe-shine girl position in his office, I'm signing up, because to be in the company of this man is an experience to crown all others. Thank God for intelligent, stimulating Professors who give a damn about their students...even the undeserving.
I found him pretentious and neglectful of some important historical themes. For example, we glossed over Native Americans at every turn this semester, a fact he refused to address. He's funny & easy enough, but a bit serious about himself. And what's with the hair?
he is so pretencious...when somebody makes a joke he gets angry..he i sa good teacher though...his test are straightfoward, which is good. he constantly is flipping his long wispy hair lmao.
this professor only talks talks talks its intersting he talks slow so u can copy the notes on time. he gives ids and subjects and ids are on midterms know them!! he gives these long speeches about one person or one topic for hours. very clear though he tells like this whole story to u.
Make sure you take good notes and copy down all of the IDs, and you'll get a great grade. Prof Rosenberg makes the class interesting and presents the material with clarity. I learned quite a bit.
He is gorgeous, funny, and brilliant. You will learn more than history from him. You'll learn how to write. He is wonderful. When I listen to him lecture I am always amazed at his intellect. He may seem arrogant, but he's not. Best professor at Hunter. Get to know him!
Someone here put it best when they said "Rosenberg is god." Indeed he is. I've learned more from him in a semester than I think I have in my entire college career. He's intelligent, personable, motivating, and sometimes even funny (well, at least I thought so). And let's not forget that hair.
Leave his hair alone!lol.Let's see, he's sexy, smart, well spoken and an exceptional historian.I loved his lectures and made me have a greater interest in history. His tests are very fair.If only he taught more history classes at hunter. He's really great.I highly recommend this class to anyone.
He's brilliant! Makes the Lectures interesting...like a good stiryteller...didnt even have to read the textbook. Fair exams...just hope you have a good TA.
This man is so intelligent, and absolutely gorgegous. I thought it was me, and Im reading everyone's elses comments and I'm not the only one! But, I never liked history, and I love it now, maybe might even minor in it. I love his lectures, and listening to him speak, is truly amazing. He's passionat
Prof. Rosenberg omitted several crucial aspects of American History. While in part it was due to meeting only 2 hrs a wk for lectures and 1ce for a useless discussion sect. it was also b/c he dwells on civil rights issues. He finished lectures on the civil rights movement of the 60s meaning the last 40 years of U.S. history was not discussed.
PEOPLE TALK BOUT THE CLASS NOT HIS LOOKS! or anyone elses!
Rosenberg's groupies can be identified by their chronic misspellings and rating the class as "moderately hard," which it is not. (They also say he's hot, which he is not.) R is a good speaker and reasonably engaging, which is all you can ask for at Hunter. But he sure does gloss over a number of important facets of US History. Sigh. Recommended.
one of the best teachers i have ever had. i never liked history until i took this course. for the exams know the identidications or IDs that he put on the board it very important to pass exams.
Very funny person, keeps you awake in class. He makes history interesting. Do the essay questions on the review sheet and study the identifications and you should be fine.
Prof Rosenberg is a very dedicated and knowledgeable professor and can be quite funny at times. The same can be said for Professor Reyes who is the most caring and devoted teacher I've ever had at Hunter. She really cared about us. The fact that she is gorgeous and funny made it all the more interesting for me. Too bad she's taken.
I highly recommend this professor. He's great, makes the class fun, and seems to really try to tell history from all points of view. Write down all the ID's and go to the discussion sessions and you'll do great.
Somewhat interesting professor. Very hard grader. He made me like History alot more than I did before I entered the class. Be sure to ask "RELEVANT" questions. There was a girl in my class that tend to not ask relevant questions and he kept insulting her (in a rather nice way but insulting none the less) Do your work and you will make the grade.
very good teacher...just remember to pay attention in class and write notes on the ids...only one paper on documents and the midterm and final.....10 small answers and essay
If you are tired of boring history lectures & are interested in learning history as if you lived through it, take ROSENBERG! He's got the best sense of humor & he makes the past come alive!Make sure to write down and memorize all the I.D.'s, DON'T FORGET! Also, take good notes, because you will have to write an essay based on what you've learned.
if you hate history, take it with rosenberg, he's funny and keeps it interesting. just take really good notes, and you don't even need to read the textbook--he covers everything in class.
Good teacher. Knows his stuff. Keeps the class interesting. Very sexy...you cant help but undress him with your eyes.
Prof R is TOTALLY cool. Very good knowledge and good personal style of presenting stuff -- he makes history events and peoples lives exciting. He also has a funny sense of humor and makes people laugh about things. Yesterday I saw a picture of the composer Franz Liszt on the web and he looks a lot like this professor. Definitely recommended.
Unimpressive . Inappropriate for a survey , but more a seminar course. The discussion sections with the TA's were a complete waste. An important conflict in the 20th cen. was reduced to a High Schoolish lecture. My Lai was reduced to a 6 min blurb. Rosenberg acts rather elitist, but is a decent lecturer, good sense of humor but drifts @ times. C-
Wow was this class the pitts! A Ken Burns documentary would teach you more. 2 descent texts out of 5 for this class, the other three were a total bore. The exams weren't hard, but rarther vague in what they expected which inturn lead to some rather harsh grading. The whole discussion section was a snooze. Rosenberg comes across as a stuck up snob!
Somewhat condesending, Prof. Rosenburg is descent lecturer, but nothing spectacular. He does has sense of humor though. From the ratings here, he's "overated". The class itself is a generic recap of the Vietnam war. The material & reading is rather pedestrian for a university class. Looking for a better lecturer, try Hett, Luther, Angelis, Turner.
20th C American History. Extremely knowledgable and well spoken. this is a discussion class. it was hard but i learned a lot and increased my writing ability ten fold. lots of reading each week, lots of well spoken students - so be careful. short response papers every week. 3 papers. no tests. rosenberg is a bit intimidating but very nice.
American War Vietnam War is kind of a dud. Ok reading assinged but not much more else than that to describe. Actually quite boring at times. I was rather disapppointed myself in this class. I thought it was going be alot more in depth and detail. Rosenburg lecture style was rather passe considering his "excellence", he's anything but that.
Do not be intimidated by impeccable dress sense - or swayed by the bilge of disgruntled, "harshly-graded" axe grinders. Those who avail themselves of Professor Rosenberg's office hours will be rewarded with a profound and genuine concern for their academic progress.
An extremely informative class - for those who showed up, paid attention, and did the work. If your hackneyed preconceptions weren't pandered to - too bad. Those who like to be spoon-fed, burped, and sent along their merry way should go peddle their onions elsewhere - in Angelis or Turner's class.
I'm in the camp of disappointment on this class. Prof. R is well spoken & funny @ times, but tends to repeats himself & gets lost. Many generalizations during the course with, and the exams grading doesn't reflect alot of being taught, or taught in a deeper intellectual matter. Over all I'd give the course a C+, with a luke warm reccomendation.
Great prof - knows his stuff, and how to present it. Highly recommended.
He is clear and concise about his lessons. I took his class in a lecture hall and not a person in there was BORED at ANYTIME. His tests are fair and he answers any and all questions you have about his lecture, and will bust out with ocassional jokes. I LOVED HIS CLASS, and I hate history, that says a lot about him. TAKE HIM or U'll REGRET IT!!!
He gives a lot of reading to do and makes you incorporate it into essays that are on the exams. Study his ID's. He's very funny and makes the class interesting. Also, is a very clear and concise professor. Try to avoid bad TA's. Over all good professor. Suggest taking him.
Just hate this professor
POOR POOR!
Good guy, but if you don't attend every class, your grade will be brought down severely. Really changed the way I thought about history. Not big on his personality, but he's a fantastic professor.
I'm not a big fan of his "holier-than-thou" attitude. He gets annoyed by anything...papers rustling, doors opening, a cough. He's OKAY though, has an alright sense of humor. Just study the IDs and incorporate the readings into the essays. A mid-term, a paper, and a final.
I found his lectures to be pretty interesting. He has a sense of humor. Make sure to study your IDs. Just 1 paper 1 midterm and a final.
you really have to attend the lecture. The only thing I got against this guy is that the class size is too huge. too many students ae not getting the proper attention. do not expect him to remember your name. I like that the materials and lectures are interesting. I would give his TA 5/5 because they do most of the work. Most people fail, no read.
his lectures are really good. there is a lot of reading that you have to do in order to pass. make sure you know the ids
very good teacher. he is funny and intelligent. very interesting lectures.
The T/A does all the work. There no point in going to see him, he has no say in your grades. The T/A are the ones that give out the grades. He has a bad attitude. Horrible hand writing. Egoist
this guy knows his stuff. hard grader. the discussion leaders/Ta's are alright. they do the grading of your work and rosenberg will generally agree witht there grades. massive ammounts or reading that borders on impossible if you are taking more than his class. expect alot of outside class time to prepare for this class. 1mid 1paper 1final. *!IDS!*
Some of the discussion section leaders grade harder than others so it just depends who you end up with. He is very approachable and easy to understand. overall a good class. one paper, a midterm and a final. a TON of reading to do if want to do well on the exams/paper
Phenomenal teacher - he has so much knowledge and makes each topic so interesting. I've learned so much - great class.
Go to class, read your book and go to recitations and you shall do fine. I got a B because of my own carelessness. If i showed up to class and paid attention I could've gotten an A. He is an awesome teacher. My T.A Joseph Murphy was extremly helpful! Hope that you get him as your T.A!
Best college level course I have ever taken. Lots of reading and attendance at lectures is mandatory to get a good grade. 2 exams and one paper. Both the reading, Major Problems, and the lectures are fascinating and so relevant in understanding the country today. I highly recommend Professor Rosenberg's class.
If History were a religion, Professor Rosenberg would be my God.
I really love this Professor. His mere presence is enlightening, and he is extremely intelligent. I feel as though he has really thought about teaching and how best to have students learn. He has a wonderful sense of humor as well, and gives excellent, thorough critiques of essays. Please take a class with this man. He will change your life.
Unfortunately, Professor Rosenberg's discussion based class leaves little room for instruction. Very aggressive students made learning very difficult. Classes started by Professor R. asking "what do you think of this book?. A lot of time was spent correcting wrong answers from students.
I took The World At War. Prof. Rosenberg was on of the 3 lecturers. Rosenberg is very enlightening. I wish we could devote more time to US history in that class. But he's not very approachable, he's kinda proud and ostentageous. He's very ridgid as well. He needs to get personality-replacement surgery.
Ah, this Professor changed my life one million times and he will never even know it. I think he is the most fascinating and interesting person I have ever in my life encountered, and I thank Hunter College for placing him in the way of my journey. Super intelligent. Kind. Funny. I literally worship this person and have grown so much because of him.
His lectures are very interesting! He is so helpful during his office hours, especially when he sees that a student likes his course and want to learn more. I will highly recommend him, especially if you like or wonder about the USA History or study it for the first time in your life.
His lectures are interesting, especially when he gives us some of his dry humor. The tests are easy if you prepare. The discussion sections are a bit boring and give no real input about anything, (doesn't even really help for the paper). Oh he looks like Professor Snape, that's kind of awesome!
He is an old-fashioned lecture type of guy. His lectures are very clear and precise, but as far as the grading goes, I have never been so surprised at my grades for history. For an intro class, the grading was pretty tough. 1 paper, midterm and final + recitation class (which means a lot of reading). Remember your ID's!
Great professor. His lectures are great if you are interested in history if you're not than you will be bored. Really enjoyed his lectures. TA does all grading, got stuck with a weird TA who was tough on grading. Rosenberg is great though and would definitely recommend others to take his classes
This man is really the true definition of a jerk. He is completely boring. He tries to be funny when he isn't. This man does not even know how to operate a overhead projector. His lectures have little relevance to the tests he gives out. Overall, boring and a waste of time.
He is one of my favorite professors at Hunter. His lecture is very clear and very easy to follow for me. Exam is consisted by two parts: short answer questions and essay. Essay is little hard but you can pass it if you attend his lecture classes. I did not like History before I took his class, but he opened my interests in History!
first history professor i ever enjoyed having; lectures very interesting and flowing, follows the bullets he writes down so it's easy to take organized notes; a midterm, a paper, and a final; memorize the IDs for easy points! review sheets for a few possible essay topics, make outlines for them because two will definitely appear! barry = cool T.A.
He's amazingly good during lectures, always gets right to the point and says a lot of stuff that can be used on the tests. Tough grader though, but as long as you take good notes you'll be fine.
Very intelligent, and sophisticated, wrote a book on the subject he teaches. as long as you dont talk excessively in his class you're good. take him, he really makes you feel like you are not in high school anymore
I pity those who were unable to have this professor during their first semester. His lectures are told like a story. His exams are a bit difficult, but if you study prior to it, and read the material, you should be fine as long as you know how to write well. He is friendly, professional, funny, and knowledgeable in his subject, I highly recommend.
Watch out graduate students, this professor is very hard. Discussions are impossible to take part in as he does not appreciate any opinion that may be different than his. Very hard to please. At the end of the day, it's either his way or nothing.
Mixed feelings about this class. Grading is done by TA, so it depends on your luck. Essays expected alot of SPECIFIC examples and explanations. Having great writing skills would get you a better grade. Review sheet has specific essay topics. Attendance not mandatory, but you NEED IDs so make a friend. Professor himself is capturing. Hate syllabus.
Professor Rosenberg does not really teach and spends a lot of time correcting incorrect comments made by students; there is no lecture before class discussion so it becomes a free for all at times
I dont understand the people who are complaining, he is a good professor. He made it very interesting despite the fact I hate history. He offers help if you go to his office hours. The midterm and final are all in-class essays. Hard if you dont do readings or show up to lecture. Attendance mandatory in disussions, not in lecture. He's a good prof.
Great lecturer - doesn't use powerpoint but is a great speaker and really brings the subject to life. He has a great way of tying history to current events in a way I haven't experienced w another prof. There is required reading but it's not essential. Your grade really depends upon the TA, but all assignments were clear and well-structured.
I don't want to sound stupid but the way he speaks is just too smart for me. He loves using original sources and quote famous historical figures. He is very interested in the topic so sometimes he just talks about it too much and lectures become confusing. Write IDs on separate sheet! They are very useful for tests, write essays in chronological ord
He is a great and knowledgeable professor, and his lectures are interesting. Attendance was not mandatory, but I advise going as the lectures would help you do well on the exams. There was a midterm, a short paper, and a final exam. However, this is all graded by the T.A. in the discussion class, which was mandatory; so it depends on whom you have.
He's a great story teller but be prepared to stay alert and take good notes because thats what he tests on. The TA I had made the difference. Very nice guy!
His lectures were really interesting, he tells history like it's a storybook, filled with funny references and facts. He's very professional, and a bit of a tough grader. You need to write out a chronological outline for the paper you want to write for the midterm and final, and FILL IT with facts that he's shared in class, so take good notes!
I absolutely love history on it's own but his lectures were awesome. He tells them like a story which makes it so much easier. This class is the reason I'm considering majoring in history.
Rosenberg is an incredibly intelligent and erudite professor. His lectures are long but interesting and the discussions are always fruitful and probing. If you take him, prepare for 200-250 pages a week, plus a 1 page reflection, which he grades based on completion but gives good feedback on. SO much work, but worth it if you put in the effort.
It has been an honor to take Professor Rosenberg this semester. I felt my writing has improved. I am definitely going to take him again next semester for his graduate class. He knows how to start a good class discussion. Also he knows how to choose books and is a renown historian. He is very accessible outside of class and responds quickly.
A book or more a week. And he is super passionate about what he is teaching. And very strict on formatting for your writing. Participation a must.
Awesome prof! Super funny and extremely easy to follow lectures. Relatively harsh grader but if you study your notes and the book you'll be fine. Actually pay attention in lecture though and take down notes because that's all you get!
Great Lectures, made boring topics a little more interesting. He could be funny because there are many who laughed but I didn't get much of the jokes. Lots of reading but still worth taking
Prof Rosenberg is a nice person. He tries to make the lecture interesting and can be funny. He can get particular about kids talking during lecture though. The grade is based on a midterm, final and paper.
I would not recommend this class to freshmen or to students who have no interest in pursuing a major/career in social or historical studies. This class requires great attention and depth. Professor Rosenberg provides lots of details in his lectures but it is difficult to fully encapsulate the task in each assignment with a lack of expertise.
I never met Rosenberg only through the videos he records. I don't know how he is a professor if the TA's do all of the work for him. The TA I had was a very harsh grader. The professor and TA didn't give clear directions on what they looked for in the papers. NO HELP AT ALL. Maybe the class is different in person, fortunately I will not know.
Never met the professor, he pre-recorded the lectures and the TAs did all the grading. The TA I had was a very harsh grader. There were 3 papers and that's all the grade was dependent on. The professor's lectures were interesting though. He was very detailed.
I never met the Professor, all the lectures were pre-recorded. The lectures were detailed and you learn a lot from them. Discussions were led by the TAs. The TA was a very harsh grader, and not always clear with grading and guidelines. She would contradict things she would say before. Implementing feedback would get u the same grade on every paper.
Professor has TA so unless you are in his class you wont meet him. The professor should have a 1 on 1 relationship with the student. Professor is harsh with deadlines and doesnt accept ANY type of excuse for late work.I tried communicating with him and his tone was rude and unprofessional. The material its self isnt hard but I wouldnt recommend
If your discussion isnt led by the prof youll have a TA and the TA I had was wonderful, she was very understanding. downside: youll need self discipline to stay up to date on the lectures/readings since youre graded on 2 papers alone
Prof. Rosenberg is knowledgeable, decent and funny. Honestly, I cried for the B+ I got for the first paper, because I was in a difficult health situation and English was my 3rd language. I tried hard for the second essay, but final grade was still the worst one that I have ever gotten. I wish there was an extra credit opportunity to make things up.
Rosenberg had typical history teacher humor which I found endearing and made the class a little easier. He had TAs but I had him for my discussion section with one ~50-70 min pre-recorded lecture/week. Two papers which were fairly easy, and I felt he was a fair grader. The only downside for some is no excuses for late papers, so be weary of that.
Pre-recorded lecturers from 2020 just don't cut it and neither does Professor Rosenberg. He doesn't even bother to give a real lecture to his class and leaves it all up to his TA's who are just awful. He may have went to Harvard, but he shows no interest in even showing up for class. If you try to talk to him about a grade, beware!
The class is only graded by 3 papers and each paper gets increasingly weighted. Everything is graded by TAs and his lectures are good. Very few opportunities to interact with the professor. You are given clear guidelines for papers and more than enough time to get them done. Fair with grading and feedback.
He gives great lectures and I enjoy them a lot but honestly you don't need to attend them to pass the class. If you just show up to your discussion times, you will pass easily. Wish this course counted as a writing intensive however as the prompts are not easy, they are very rhetorical but still manageable.
The professor isn't bad but the structure of the class makes the lectures pointless. You don't need to go to the lectures to pass and the papers are on events that you briefly discuss in smaller sections. Also, the TAs are strict with grading and their feedback doesn't really match the grade they give. Easy class to pass but not easy to get an A.
the lectures were fine i guess. the discussion sections with TAs were a waste of time (imo) since no one would talk while we would sit in silence but i would go to a few of them just to see how it goes. the TAs are strict with grading as well. they don't post their assignments online but in person which i find so dumb and inconvenient.
Based on 3 papers, each longer, tougher & I CANNOT stress this enough- worth MUCH more than the previous paper, the grading structure makes it so easy to fail. IMO lectures are unnecessary as you only need the section discussion for writing papers This class is test free, but I'd avoid this grading structure if you're aiming for an A like I was...
He gives good informational lectures and very few instances to interact with him. It is not required to pass the course, but attending discussion helps you write better papers so it is recommended. TAs do all the grading and you are graded on only 3 papers. It was not a stressful class but if you struggle with papers, the tutoring centers help.
He gives good lectures, but the 3 papers can hurt or help your grade. There's no clear rubric of how they grade your papers. The lectures aren't mandatory to attend, but discussion groups are somewhat helpful for the papers. The writing center helps if you struggle in writing the papers. However, the TA's are picky in what papers get A's.
Professor Rosenburg's class is somewhat easy to handle as it not attendance mandatory and the lectures are available online. The main problem is the course grade is decided based on only 3 papers. Also, the essay criteria is not well explained. You will get the prompt for your essay but very few point of criteria to check.
Professor Rosenberg is probably as full of himself as a professor can be. I don't know when "America & the World in the 20thC" became "Classical Music & the Cold War" but obviously he has decided that. Doesn't use Blackboard either, so he has to hound most students to check if they submitted their papers- ie the only two assignments for the class.
Decent professor, he knows what he is talking about and is passionate about it. Has no slides or supplementary material, just monologues to the class the whole time. Not the worst thing in the world as he's very informative, but any supplementary material would help. Speaks in a microphone but is still very quiet.
Pure lectures - no slides, just him speaking for the full lecture. Read the textbook for the essays. Grade is composed of 3 essays, it's a make or break. He's passionate about what he talks about, the TAs grade papers and they're harsh.
This course is the prof talking, no slides or PPT. TAs grade your papers and they are harsh. Three papers/essays, 2 essays are worth 25% of your grade and the final is worth 50%. With the essays, you either get a good grade or you don't. Explicitly tell you to analyze in depth or your essay will be seen as a summary, thus you'll get a low grade.
The professor is knowledgeable but lectures too much without engaging students or using Blackboard. Grading is harsh, expecting perfect papers with unclear expectations. He dominates discussions and doesn't allow much student input. Punctuality is critical, and the class lacks flexibility. Not recommended for those seeking interactive learning.
The professor knows his stuff, but the class structure can be tricky. Lectures are just monologues, and the TA-graded essays make up most of your grade. Attend discussion groups and use unstuckstudy for essay prep to boost your chances of an A.
Absolutely loved his vibe! He's soft-spoken but is passionate about history. His lectures were all verbal, but he clearly lays out the content and criteria of tests so you know what to study for. He also provides good feedback on tests and improvements that could've been done. 10/10 would recommend!
There's no slides for you to watch, he just speaks and you take the notes but it's easy to do that. The exams are a hit or miss, if you understand the documents then you're good. The gr
if you're NOT good at history, try a different class. if you are good at it then you'll thrive here, he basically hands out A's to those that are history nerds. two exams and they're just an essay. most people dont even take notes they just sit there. very heavy on attendance. I am so bad at history so i will not be getting an A but it's possible.
This was an ok class. I took this class in fall 2024 as a first semester freshman but I wish we were graded on more things rather than 3 written essay exams as they can help or hurt your grade. I got c's on my first exam and somehow managed to get b+ on final to get a b in class.
I won't say skip lecture but... They honestly aren't vital to passing. Showing up to group is more important as that's where you go over what you'll be tested on. Most lectures are just him talking for 50 min but it's not difficult, coming from someone who hates history. Just don't get lost and never know whats going on and you should be fine.
Rosenburg was the most chill professor I had this semester. The class is graded on three exams you'll take in the discussion section which is only once a week. He told us what document the exam would be based on a week prior to the actual essay. They are fairly simple if you understand the context of the doc. Attendance is mandatory in discussion.
This class is only graded on 3 written essays, and he tells you exactly what the test is on a week prior, so it is pretty easy to score well on the tests. The lectures and group discussions are very helpful in addition to understanding the documents.
