This class is amazing and should be mandatory for each student in the BComm program ESPECIALLY for Marketing majors. I have never enjoyed the structure of a class as much as I do with this one. It is clear and extremely informative. It has made me want to pursue this post-grad!! I look forward to EACH class and wish there were more in the week tbh.

Guest lectures almost every week which makes the course load easier to handle than most classes. Lots of hands on learning for many facets of digital marketing

One assignment every two weeks on average, where you put into practice what you have seen in class before.

Jon was the perfect prof to teach this class, he was thorough yet concise with his lectures and taught us the stuff we would need to know in w career in digital marketing. We got hooked up with free websites for life (with PageCloud) and he did a great job to get us caring about our personal brand & helping us get a job when we're done our degrees

Great class if you are creative and like to build a personal website with PageCloud. There are 5 assignments for your website wich add up to 50% of your grade. The assignments are long but not difficult and you'll have 2 weeks per assignment. Only downside, he doesn't answer to emails frequently (or at all). Better ask him stuff in person!

This class was really amazing, I would highly recommend this class to anyone interested in business, specifically marketing majors. Professor Simon was captivating, funny, and overall a great first time prof. He was a very fair marker and the really makes you want and excited to go to class.

Very highly recommend this class for B. Commerce or anyone looking for an elective. We had a term long project to create a personal branding website which counted for half of the final grade. Would definitely take another course with Professor Simon.

Jonathan brings a huge knowledge and experience to the course, he encourages questions and participation. His final take-home exam is a great practice to implement what you understood from the course. I would suggest inviting speakers during the lectures, showing some youtube videos and make a debate in class instead of a project.

Definitely my favourite class so far. As a marketing major I really found value in his lecture and organization style, guest speakers, and assignments. Easy to do well and will actually help you in real life. You get to apply the theory with the hands-on project. Course material stays up-to-date with the quick changing field, where some other courses tend to lag behind. Marketing is becoming increasingly digital and this really should be a mandatory for every marketing student.

Teaches an easy fourth-year course that's actually interesting and relevant to real life. The prof has tons of experience and is always interesting to listen to. Always trying to help the students as best he can.

Professor Simon is great! Pulls examples from his own career and clearly explains the concepts! Exams are relatively easy if you study the slides and attend class, but kinda long.

Term project is rewarding and precise. There's no surprises. I actually learned a lot from it. The midterm is fair, very content heavy but very logical at the same time. You can't go wrong with Professor Simon or his class!

Take the digital marketing class, the prof will invite lots of guest speaker to come and take a lecture about how to work with digital marketing well, which is useful to have a networking and feeling the actual case. This class only need to focus on the class note and the powerpoint, easy marker, remember the stuff will be helpful.

Professor Jonathan is one of the realest professors in all of Telfer. He actually works outside of being a professor, so he is able to give real-life examples of how the industry works. He is also a very caring professor, so if you get on his good side and he remembers you, he will help you with your career after you graduate.

Jonathan is a great prof! He is one of the few profs at Telfer who have real world experience, so you feel like you can actually apply what he teaches. His slides are kind of vague so you do have to attend class. I wish this course was a 2nd year course because it's so introductory, and then we could have higher level digital marketing courses.

Most useful class I've taken in Telfer. It allows you to apply what you learned through doing hands-on digital marketing - building your own personal brand. The class gives you an incredible opportunity to market yourself and have employers come to you, rather than the other way. Jonathan really cares about you and and is available for extra help.

Most useful class by far in Telfer. The only bone I have to pick is that there is some inconsistency with how his TA marks and what the assignment outlines. The prof is really helpful if you have any questions and will make himself available to help you out.

With COVID and classes going online, he uploaded a filmed version of his presentations and was super easy to follow along. He also is available to sit down with you if you have questions about your midterm.

Guys an absolute G. With the online course, he was able to provide us with an opportunity that wouldn't have been available had we done in-class leaning. Assignments are not hard

Took this in person and there are four assignments, one midterm, and one final. The assignments are easy as long as you follow the instructions, but they require quite a lot of effort especially the last two. The midterm was really easy as long as you review your notes.

Great class! As a finance student, I really enjoyed it and it allowed me to show my creative side. I learned so much! He is VERY accessible outside of class and wants you to succeed (if you put in the effort). He responds very quickly to emails and he is there to chat if you have extra questions. The assignments take some time, so start in advance!

Great professor, very interesting lectures and guest speakers.

10/10 would recommend taking any course that Jonathan Simon teaches. Teaches relevant and current content that is applicable outside of the classroom. I can confidently say that I learned more practical information in this course than in any other course over my 4 year degree. Consistently brings in guest speakers who help explain course concepts.

Professor Simon is one of my favorite profs I've had at uOttawa! If you take this course, make sure you don't take it with anyone but him. I waited a semester just to take the course with him and it was definitely worth it. So real and will only teach you things that will really be valuable to you in the real world.

I took this course in the summer and it was a great experience! He made class enjoyable and made sure his students were well prepared for the midterm and final. I definitely learned a lot and he teaches in a way that is easy to remember. His grading is great as long as you respect the very clear guidelines of his assignments. Highly recommend!

This class is fun and engaging. Attendance is not mandatory, however I recommend attending. The speakers that come in each week, as well as Professor Simon have lots of useful information that go beyond the posted slideshows. The grading rubric and exam expectations are clear. This class has set me up with useful skills for my everyday life.

I really enjoyed these classes. He is very reachable by email and explains his expectations in advance. Sometimes he forgets to tell you about deadlines or upload info you need but once asked he is very prompt to address. Marks fairly. Midterm was all written, Final was all MCQ. Marked kindly for marketing simulation.

Makes lectures fun, has little participation activities that are entertaining. Everything is super straight forward, midterm and final were easy. Some of the simulation stuff was a bit confusing but that wasn't really his fault. I'd take again!
