I took the summer session online class for Econ100. Problem is that he simply does not respond to emails. He says he will respond within two days, and if not, to simply remind him. I emailed him three times in the exact format he requests, and he still never responded, even though it was about a missed test that literally was worth 25% of my grade

I took the 8-week class online, and it was very hard to keep up with when things are due. He does not answer emails, gives no updates for the entire semester, and you cant see when quizzes or tests are due on canvas. You have to look at the syllabus for due dates. He also opens up tests one to two days later than expected. Overall, very stressful.

The class was simple & straightforward: read the chapters & complete the assignments on the Connect learning system (which you have to buy along w/ the textbook). If you can pace yourself & work INDEPENDENTLY, you'll do well. He never contacted the class, which I imagined frustrated people. NOT ideal for anyone who struggles to learn on their own.

Professor Smith seemed like a good Professor to take a class from and Im sure his in class lessons are good but I took the eight week fast track and it was a fine class but I tried to contact him many times and he never responds. He leaves you on your own which is the point of a college level class but I would think twice about taking his class.

You most likely will not speak to Professor Smith once throughout the semester. Though he offers office hours, the workload is based on the readings from the economics book, and there are no lectures. Take this class if you excel at studying on your own; stay away from this class if you require lectures.

This class mainly consisted of reading, doing homework on Connect or Smartwork and tests. Everything is self taught. I liked this class because I like to do everything on my own and work at my own pace. If you need lectures or more of a hands on professor then do not take him. The work is a good amount and he gives you about a month to do a section

3 exams, spread out, based heavily on diagrams. Like 22 reading homeworks that require you to get a certain grade and deducts points for wrong answers, so this can take awhile but makes it possible to get 100% on all of them over time. Each chapter has a math section, infinity attempts on questions unless you "give up," so also easy to get 100%.

There is no final, just a last exam. Every exam covers 4-5 chapters and everything is due same say as the test so you have to keep on top of everything

If you are taking an online course with Professor Smith, you will be teaching everything to yourself. As someone who has taken another Econ online self-taught class, the McGraw lecture course and its tests are impossible. The video lectures are confusing and the tests require you to know material not covered in the videos.

I suggest doing the extra credit assignments before taking any quizzes or tests as they are a great way to review the material and take notes. The class is difficult, but the way it is set up will help you get a good grade as long as you're willing to put in work. Great professor, I strongly recommend taking his classes.

If you take this professor online, don't expect any actual teaching. All of our assignments and lectures were through the textbook and he does quite literally no teaching or grading (everything is graded automatically). The actual work isn't too bad if you pace yourself, but be prepared to teach yourself the entire class & keep yourself on track.

The only thing I don't like is that he doesn't respond to emails very well, it could have just been my experience. If you want an easy A, do all of the extra credit, take things as many times as possible, and read.

He's very passionate about Economics. He doesn't have slideshows. He goes off based his own knowledge and textbook then writes it on the whiteboard. His test are hard and he is straight up about it, telling the class his test will be hard. But as long as you listen to his lectures and read the textbook if you don't understand, you'll be fine.
