Good Prof!
I could not have asked for a better professor for stats. All of his tests are open book/note/powerpoints. He makes everything so simple and I am not even a math person. The only thing is participation matters for him, but there is not even much to participate in. He is great!
I was really worried about taking statistics. Stevens made it super easy to understand. He lays it out very logically. He also shows you how to use technology, for convenience. The class was very nonthreatening, and I actually enjoyed it. He's very helpful, and cares about his students. If you're worried about passing statistics TAKE HIS CLASS.
Dr. Stevens is one of the best professors in Valencia. He explains things very clearly. He is very organized and his class is never not dull. You use laptops in his class everyday. Everything is open-book. He wants active learning and if you just pay attention to him, you'll pass Stats easy. He is very articulate and time efficient. 10/10 TEACHER
Great teacher! Test are open book and open note even open laptop. Make sure you show up for all his lectures since he explains everything to every detail. I honestly felt like the homework is harder than the test itself. I'm glad I took him
STA 2023 Fall 2015 Professor Stevens is the man for the job to teach you StatisticalMethods. He is really organized on his teaching. The homework he provides, MyLab, are a little challengling, but you will pass this class if you read the book before class, pay attention, and participate. The learning quality is good. You will be a pro on Stat.
Analytical precise Teacher, material is clear as long as you show up and be an active learner.
What an amazing teacher. He is clear cut and to the point. If you want to pass this class you need to participate. He is all for participating with his students. Make sure you read the chapter before you go to class and you will be golden. Make sure you do all the material he gives and you will pass the class. He is always open to helping.
Had an awesome experience in this class would definitely take this professor again if he taught a class I needed. The lectures are inactive and so is the course. Not a lot of grades but if you do the work and participate in class, it's an easy class to pass and to get an A.
The best statistics professor, I actually learned something in that class and I really hate maths. If you want to pass your statistics class, this is the professor to take.
Clear and concise grading, it is easy to know exactly where you stand. Homework load isn't crazy. Test reviews are thorough and give a strong idea of the subject matter that will be on the test. The classes gave me a good understanding of how to do the work.
It was a great class, also great professor , would definitely recommend , you take him for your stats course.
Stevens was such a great professor! He made all the material covered in class as easy as can be! I took him for College Math & will absolutely be taking him for Stats next semester. Seriously, such an amazing professor, take him! You won't regret it!!!
Great professor! All homework assingments are managable! If you do not show up to class, you will fail miserably.
I loved this class. Professor Stevens' style was perfect for me. Everything you needed to learn you learned in class. He provided you with an optional test review that was VERY similar to the test so no surprises. Very clear with expectations. Must participate in class.
He is an excellent professor. He is one of the best professor I had.
Great teacher, makes sure everyone understands what he goes over
Loved the class and was an easy A. If u go to class you will pass. All lectures follow same format: he explains, he demonstrates, then you practice with a partner. He gives a test review that you can do for extra credit. If u can do the review questions, you can pass the test.
This Professor is not only fun, nice, and funny but he cares about his students and wants everyone to pass.
Professor Stevens was one of the best professors I've had. I took him for college mathematics and would recommend him for anyone who struggles in math! There are only a total of 4 modules (tests) wort 25 pts. each but 7 of the points come from homework. Before the test he does a review that is almost identical to the test so its impossible to fail.
Study his test reviews and you will do great on tests
Dr. Stevens was very helpful throughout the course. You do have to read prior to class but he shows clearly all the material so it becomes very easy to understand. If you're going to take a STAT's class he's the right professor.
study the test review and you will pass the class.
Dr. Stevens was one of the best teachers I have ever had. He made a very difficult subject easier to understand. I would recommend him for statistics and would take him for any math classes I needed. I just wish he taught Business Calc.
By far the best professor I've taken at Valencia. He genuinely cares for his students and he wants you to pass! He gives you a test review for every exam and its in the exact same format as the actual exam. If you do homework assignments and test review you get extra credit. If you do the work theres no way you can fail this class! Great professor!
Awesome Professor I took intermedia and college algebra with him, I would totally recommend him for math. If you are trying to pass math with A this is the right professor. YOU WONT REGRET IT!!
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. Looked forward to his class so much. Stevens is humorous, helpful, kind, & bright. He loves nothing more than seeing his students succeed. His teaching method is thorough & effective. No surprises, everything you need is right in front of you & directions are clear. Don't think twice about taking him, even if you struggle w math
He is an amazing professor he breaks down the work to be super understandable. Do the test review and your homework and you should have an A.
Professor Stevens is a very good professor, I understood mostly everything in this class. He gives you a review online for the test and it is the exact same thing as the test with different number. Do your homework every week and do the reviews and you should be successful on the test. I really recommend him, I am horrible at math but doing well.
Stevens is awesome, he is always prepared and wants every one of his students to succeed. His lectures are thorough and his way of teaching, by you practicing what he just taught, has helped me greatly in this class. The homework from mymathlab is fairly simple and quick and his test reviews definitely prepare you for the test. 10/10
Best professor at Valencia hands down. Professor Stevens sincerely cares about to his students. He teaches the material in a way that is easy to remember. Each exam there is a study guide similar to it. Do all homework online and go to class and make the effort and you will definitely pass. I will be taking him for college algebra & statistics next
Math isn't an easy A but professor Stevens tries his hardest to have you pass. He is hilarious and does not lecture. He teaches through examples, and then allows you to do a few. His tests are very easy, the test review is the same exact thing as the test with different numbers. He also lets you use a 3x5 index card with formulas for every test.
Professor Stevens is the best! I took him for two different math classes and I enjoyed both of them. He is very easy when it comes to grading. Just make sure you always show up and do the homework. Very difficult to fail. I recommend him to anybody looking to take stats.
The material is not easy, since it is Statistics, however; Professor Stevens does a great job simplifying the material. If you work on the homework after every lesson I guarantee you, you will pass with an A. Professor Stevens is upfront and has no surprises. No pop quizzes, study guide aligns EXACTLY up to test. The final IS NOT cumulative.
This professor is very smart and knows alot about math. However he rushes through class teaching the material and tries to squeeze everything in up to the last minute. This makes it harder for the class to understand the material. He also makes the class feel not so smart when someone answers incorrectly. Very boring class.
If you need to take stat just take him, I got a B but it was because of my own laziness. Definitely an easy A.
Professor Stevens teaches the material in the simplest ways he thinks his students would grasp. He doesn't believe in making our lives even harder. You are allowed a 3x5 flash card with formulas for tests, gives study guide similar to exam. He is very big on active learning. He likes participation. I took MGF 1106, now this and next STA 2023.
Expect: 3 tests 3 study guides (all are worth 1 point extra credit towards the test) 8-9 chapters (each has homework around 35-45 questions) You do not need the book, just the stats lab code. He is an amazing professor and very interested in helping students learn. You can come in a little late, but don't make a habit out of it. Don't miss class.
Professor Stevens has a great formula for his class: 1 - read the chapter before you go in (Just to get a basic understanding), 2 - In class he will break the formulas down in steps, then he will give you the same formula for you to do, 3 - do the homework to get more practice. Test Reviews are the tests with different formulas.
Best professor to ever teach. I took Prof. Stevens for 3 courses, he's just that awesome. Unique individual, i'd go to class discouraged from other courses and i left his class feeling inspired to reach my full potential. Awesome caring guy, wants all his students to pass, if you fail it's literally on you. Likes to talk to students so participate!
Stevens is an amazing professor! I highly recommend him. Unlike others he really cares! Just follow his instructions given in the beginning of the term; read each new chapter before the lecture in class, and be an active student when it comes to class work, and you'll be fine! Take advantage of the test reviews because they're life savers!
Trig can be daunting but Stevens makes it bearable. He's great at teaching and has a very active teaching style. He cares for students and wants them to pass. There's like a total of 7 grades put in which makes your tests weight a lot. DO TEST REVIEWS. It will help you so much on the tests. Final wasn't cumulative. I will take him again for STATS.
Trig is hard. Lets be honest in that. Stevens makes it easier. He gives you test reviews and takes them as extra credit. Letting you get that last boost you need to pass the class. He doesn't overflow you on the grading. Making it simple so you know what grade you got without having to overthink it. He helps you if you need it as well.
Professor Stevens is simply the best professor. This is my second class with him and I will be taking stats in the fall with him as well. He genuinely cares about his students . I passed with a full 100% and it's not easy but he gives you everything you need to pass. He simplifies everything for you and there are no surprises with this professor.
Great professor! Loved him and enjoyed his energy. His expectations are high of his students so be prepared for his class. He really likes to make sure you are understanding and even gives you the resources to use outside of class. If you really work for it, everyone should pass with an A! Hoping to take him again for STATS!
Best Professor, hands down in all aspects, absolutely recommend.
Straightforward Professor. He sets you up for success, but it is math and you have to work at understanding it. Do the test review with the video and turn it in because it's extra credit. Solving and understanding the problems on the review sets you up to pass the test because they are the same problems, just the numbers have changed.
I think the other reviews said it enough but he's an amazing teacher. Gives you what you need to know and takes the struggle out of learning so you can actually learn! I'd love to take him for every math class.
Where do I start. Trig is not simple... AT ALL, but Dr. Stevens really equips you to succeed in this course. He is one of the greatest math professors you will ever have. Clear and straight forward exams with no surprises, what he teaches is what you will be tested on. Only complain I have is that the entire course is out of 100 points.
Jonathan A. Stevens is the best professor if you are taking any College Algebra or Trigonometry. I had him for CA and wanted to do Trig with him too but his classes filled up as soon as people were able to register so I didn't get a spot. If you can take him then do not lose him. Guaranteed the best professor I have ever taken for any math courses
Trigonometry is a difficult subject but Professor Stevens does an amazing job teaching it. He is super intelligent and genuinely cares for his students, which is what pushed you through the course. Exams are similar to the review, no surprises. Another great thing is that Dr. Stevens is quick, scores/grades are posted shortly after being submitted!
Guys do yourselfs a favor and take him. I took him this summer for algebra and he was amazing. His teaching allows for everyone to learn and he's always willing to help. There are 5 tests and 5 homeworks. There are no surprises in a Steven's math course which is why all his students praise him. He's a legend in math! Best math professor there is!!!
Professor Stevens is awesome for STA 2023! I am not the greatest at math but his syllabus is clear and he cares for his students success. The only opportunity for extra credit is by doing the reviews, which are beneficial because they are basically the same as the test. There is a total of three test about , homework per chapter, and no quizzes.
Exams are just like the Study guides. Classroom instruction and online videos give you step by step how to do the work. Extra credit given for completed study guide and he lets you use a 3 x 5 card with any formulas for exams. Only 3 exams, but no surprises, if you know how to do the study guides you will pass. Great teacher!
I cannot say enough about this professor. He's everything a professor should be. If you're not good at math and really want to be, this is the guy. You really, actually understand what you're doing with the way he teaches. He doesn't skip steps and he's very direct. I took stats with him and it was great. I wish he could my maths professor forever.
Prof gives mock tests ("reviews") that will prepare you for each test, so just PRACTICE and you will get an A. I printed and practiced each review at least 3 times and aced every test. Read the chapters before class, because he WILL ask you to participate and being out of the loop is distractingly embarrassing. :)
HIGHLY recommend Professor Stevens! He definitely sets up his students for SUCCESS! He constantly reminded us that we were his first priority so be sure to communicate with him if youre having trouble! Just show up and pay attention, follow his instructions given, complete your assignments, take time out to study and you should receive an A!!
He is an amazing professor. He teaches well and is very clear. He has corny jokes but sometimes they are actually funny. He thoroughly explains things if you have issues and is not one to shoot down questions. He likes it when you correct him if he messes up so he is relatable. Overall I recommend him to any of you if you can get him!
This is the best professor I have ever had in my entire life! I took college algebra with him and before then the highest level math I had gotten was high school algebra II. It is not difficult if you practice. He the absolute GOAT (greatest of all time). I recommend 11/10
You have to take this guy's class because it was one of the more easiest classes I've taken just because of the professor. He makes the material so understandable and takes his time to make sure you get the material. The test isn't that hard because beforehand he gives a test review that is incredibly similar to the actual test. Take this guy
Professor Stevens is great! As someone who has always struggled with math, I was really worried about taking stats. I loved his method of teaching but he was always willing to explain things differently until a topic was understood by everyone. Highly recommend!
I have always struggled in math, but in this class I understood everything. Stevens is the best professor! His lectures are easy to understand. Do the test reviews, they're identical to his tests. I am looking forward to taking him for other math classes. Take him, you won't regret it! He is the BEST
Professor Stevens is a great person, I would definitely take him again. His class is very simple, there are no surprises, and his tests are easy. He also gives extra credit opportunities for every module.
Professor Stevens is by far the best math teacher I have ever had! I always thought I was terrible at math, but after taking this class, I realized that I had bad teachers all along! I am in Dual Enrollment, and I took this professor during my first semester, and I was scared about going into the class, but I finished the class with a 101 percent!
If anyone wants to learn and have an awesome experience with a caring professor, Professor Stevens is the best. I registered with him for next semester ( STATS).
Professor Stevens has only a few assisgnments. His test are not hard, do the study guide and you will be fine. It is the exact same, the numbers are the only thing different.
As everyone has already said, take him. You'd have to put in 0 effort to not do well, he makes it as easy as possible.
Awesome teacher, sticks to the syllabus and gives great feedback.
No textbook. Homework due at start of class after 2 weeks or so. Will teach how to manually do problem then with tech (super easy). You can miss class so long as you pass. Study guide is just like test, gives you an EC point on test if turned in. Allows notecard for formulas. He's super cool, good teacher. Easy to get an A (currently holding an A)
I've had Stevens for the three of my four math courses. It would be foolish to not take his classes. Just do the work, show up, and participate to pass. If one wants to excel, you must take it seriously. He cares for his students and is the best math professor I've had.
The best math professor ever! I wish all professors were like him. He explains things very clearly and the class is structured for you to succeed. I wish I could take all my higher level math classes with him!
Prof. Stevens is one of the best professors I have taken for math. His lectures are really goid. His does active learning and practice problems in the classroom which make learning new topics easier. If you have to take Stat take him his the best. Just 3 tests and 9 homeworks in mymathlab.
Loved his class, great professor. There is only 3 test,he gives you a study guide for each and if you complete it you get extra credit. Only 9 home works on mymathlab. The class is not that hard and his lectures are well explained. I would recommend you to take him.
Professor Stevens gives you all the tools you need to succeed. You have to absolutely not try to fail his class. If you want a great class and an easy A that actually teaches you math, TAKE HIM. He's amazing and always has his student's best interests in mind.
I took Dr. Stevens for Trig and Pre-Calc. He is an amazing professor. There are ABSOLUTELY no tricks with him. The homework, classwork, and test review are exactly like the tests. He makes himself available if you need help. You need to put in time, do the hw, and show up to class if you want to pass. He makes you earn your grades and is fair.
Dr. Stevens makes PRE Calc a breeze! He explains everything well in class and is always available during his office hours whenever you need extra help or explaining. His study guides are essential to passing the tests. Complete the study guide and you'll do fantastic on the tests! He also allows a note card for formulas.
Professor Stevens is an excellent professor . He shows you how to do the problems and makes everything really clear. I would recommend him and take him again.
I have had the privilege to take Professor Stevens twice in my educational career. He cares about his students and wants everyone to get a good grade. You will have to practice outside of the class room to do well on his tests, but he gives you the materials you need to study and be successful. If you need to take stats or trig, take him!!
Excellent professor, expectations are clear, there are no surprises or curve balls in this class. What you learn is what you are graded on.
If you're thinking about taking Professor Stevens, DO IT! He's honestly one of the best math instructors I've taken at Valencia because he cares so much about his students and want them to succeed. Also, make sure to do the test review bc they count as extra credit (and it helps you study for the exam) and make sure to practice!!
Professor Stevens is an absolute pleasure to learn from! He clearly states what is expected in his course. As long as you come to class, pay attention, laugh at his jokes, and do the work, you will have a brilliant time in his class!
He gives a review guide for every test, that review guide is not only extra credit for completion but is also identical to the test itself. He will make the content as simple as possible for his students.
He goes really quick in class, make sure to write fast. Do after each class the homework from Mymathlab from the section you covered that day. Cause you have to do that, the test review and study after. The good thing about the test review is that he has a whole video explaining how to do each exercise. You'll have 5 extra points doing the TR.
This professor is one of the very few that has helped me understand math. His teaching methods are so perfectly organized and nothing in his class will be a surprise, not even on his tests. He is a little fast paced but if you tell him to slow down, he will. The study guide is super easy. You literally have to try to fail his class.
Dr. Jon Stevens is the best math professor I ever had. I took STA2023 and MAC1114 with him which I passed both classes with an A & B. Professor Stevens gives good feed back, HW(MyMathLab) and study guides for every exam, if you do and review the study guide you get extra credit and you pass the exams. Don't miss class !TAKE HIM. YOU WONT REGRET IT!
Dr. Stevens is one of my favorite professors! His lessons require you to actually work with people around you and understand the material. He offers an optional extra credit test review (DO IT!!) that is very similar to the test, for every test we had. His tests were easy if you did the test review and the homework.
Professor Stevens is amazing! He's very caring and amicable. His tests are nearly identical to his study guides, and he even provides video tutorials to his study guides. He is not hesitant to answering any questions and genuinely cares about his students.
BEST MATHEMATICS PROFESSOR YOU WILL EVER FIND. Professor Stevens, is incredibly gifted in explaining complex concepts. He explains things so well that you will actually understand the subject and retain it. He is very approachable and is always willing to help. TAKE HIM!
He's very organized, and clear about what he expects of you from day 1. He offers extra credit for each exam given, and the exams are very easy if you do the test review. He does a crawl-walk-run system, so if you attend class, you'll totally be fine. If you have to go through higher maths, take him and Scible; the transition is seamless!
He is super clear on what he expects of his students. Test study guides are a MUST, literally everything on the study guide is on the exam. He is a little TOO straightforward but an amazing professor and he KNOWS how to teach. If you want to pass, with an A you have to be present in his class. Otherwise really good professor and has clear standards
This Professor helped me finally start doing well in math 10/10 would recommend!
One of the best professors Ive ever had!! I was scared at first because I took a different professor for College Algebra and struggled, however, Professor Stevens explains the concepts very well and I was able to get an A in this class. Would highly reccomend.
Stevens is the best math professor ever. He goes over the material very thoroughly and puts all of his effort into making the students understand what is going on. He genuinely cares about the success of the students. Do yourself a favor and take this professor if you have the chance.
I struggle a lot in math but Prof. Stevens made the experience much easier. His class is formatted for students to succeed as he provides unlimited attempts on homework, lectures material in class, and gives optional test reviews before exams. His courses can surely be aced with repetition and effort even for the least proficient in math. Recommend
Professor Stevens is truly a intelligent professor and knows every material he covers, homework is 2-3 weeks with unlimited attempts, no quiz but 5 major Test, the class is cumulative point course. It would be nice if he had 1 day where he reviews the test, but he has a video where he reviews the Review Packet in order to pass you have to master it
Prof Stevens is very thorough in his teaching. He posts the powerpoints after class. There are no surprises on the tests. The test reviews are pretty much the test. He posts a video to go over the review. You can turn the test review in for extra credit. Make sure to keep up with hw and lessons bc getting behind is easy. He has everything for you.
I have ADHD and math is one of my worst subjects, but honestly this was the best class I ever took. The professor was great and does a great job of explaining everything and giving us practice problems in class to help us understand. The best thing is that his study guides are exactly like his real test. I would definitely recommend him
I've taken Professor Stevens for CollegeAlgebra and now for Stats. I must say he is by far the best math professor I have ever taken! He's strict on tardiness, show up on time. Interactive learning really helped. The use of statcrunch is great. His lectures are clear and precise. No surprises on the tests if you do the work. Highly recommend him!
I took him in the fall semester of 2018. Lectures are clear and precise; uploads them to canvas. Interactive learning is a plus and practicing outside of class helps a lot. Don't hesitate to ask questions. Strict on time so don't show up late. He's kind and gives two passes but don't make it a habit. DO THE STUDY GUIDE. I highly recommend!
Jon Stevens is the best math teacher I have ever had. I had him for college algebra and stats and I am not the best at math but he puts an effort to help you learn. HW is due on test day and he does video reviews for the study guides. Do the study guides for extra credit. He will repeat to you all semester about just practice and you will be fine!
Great Professor, took him for stats and Mac1105. The class is very organized, and he is a true believer of Active learning which is where he teachers and gives an example on one slide and the next you put into practice what he just taught. That helped me a lot. He also provides excellent tools like study guides and a video for each test. :)
If youre willing to study and do the work then this class is for you. He gives study guides with all his tests and as long as you studied and do your homework the tests have no surprises. He uses active learning and is pretty funny during his lecture. He also is really willing to help and answer questions if you just ask . Loved this professor
If you suck at math like me then please take this class, he was so amazing I even passed with an A!! I just finished my summer term with him and will be taking College Algebra with him. He makes everything so easy to understand. He gives you study guides before each test which basically have everything the test will cover.
You won't regret taking this class! To break it down, there are 5 tests (no cumulative final), 5 homework grades, and extra credit for each test. The extra credit is almost identcial to the actual test so do that! If you show up, pay attention in class, do your homework and extra credit you will earn an A. Professor Stevens makes math easy!
Prof. Stevens had taught me a great lesson, not only in class but also personal. He teaches you that even though he can BE AN EASY A YOU GOTTA WORK FOR IT. He does makes the test pretty much exactly the same as the study guide but still, putting the effort is what he wants to see in his students. He is an amazing professor and human being.
hes great ! teaches everything so well! take him ((:
Took Prof. Stevens for Coll Alg and again for Stats, he does a good job of increasing the likelihood of passing his arguably difficult mathematics classes. You'll buy an online access code that you'll use to complete homework due at the end of every module before exam day, there's a test-copy extra credit review, do it. Class is made for success.
Professor Stevens is a by far one of the best professor's i have ever taken. I have learned so much in his Statistics class and I definitely would take him again.
Dr. Stevens was an amazing profesor! I took him during fall and honestly I have never had such a caring and relatable math teacher. He cares about his students and before every test you can get extra credit. If I could take his class again I would.
Professor Jonathan is one of the best professors I have taken for math.I definitely recommend to his class if you are willing to do HW and prepare for his tests.
Professor Stevens was an amazing professor! He tends to go a little fast during the lectures but it's not hard to keep up, just stay focused in class... overall, I highly recommend taking his class
Steven's is great, his lectures are very clear and I felt prepared going into every exam. Your grade relies heavily on the exams, but they aren't that bad if you study and do the optional homework. His test reviews are great in preparing you for the exams.
Professor Stevens is the best math professor you will come across. Most students learn by practicing the material, we need to be given the chance to try the problem and ask the questions that come to mind to understand. Professor Stevens takes an active learning approach in which he will explain the material but at the same time give you practice.
Professor Stevens has no surprises in has class. Exams are VERY similar to the test reviews. Although he does have high expectations of what you should know in math and is sometimes quick in lecture, he is fair to students by not overloading them with work. He really made trigonometry enjoyable! 100% recommend!!!
The study guide is the test. Office hours are reasonable and he's pretty accessible. Real great guy when it comes to lecture. He does a problem then you do a similar problem. HW is similar to what you do in class. Overall, there is never any surprises when it comes to his class. He does get more difficult for Calc, but still pretty good :)
the best math professor in valencia!! take him
Take this professor if you want to FAIL!! horrible teacher, you do the homework and miss one, you get a zero. Lecture heavy. Says you should know this already doesnt take the extra effort to explain material, from previous courses.
Stevens is a great professor and I would definately take him again!
His grading system is FLAWED . Guess what , if you have 7 HW assignments to do and you do 6 of them . YOU GET A 0 for HW for that Unit . And his HW are long with like 10 parts in each question. PICK A DIFFERENT PROFESSOR . ALL HIS TEST ARE WITHOUT MULTIPLE CHOICE . and he only gives 5 POINTS EXTRA CREDIT THE WHOLE SEMESTER . DROP IT NOW !!!
Professor Stevens is by far one of the best Mathematics professors. He really cares about his student's success in class. However, the normal effort is required to pass. If you miss any classes you will likely fall behind. He teaches in a clear manner and students complete problems in class to ensure success. He is fair, caring, and respectable.
Please do NOT hesitate to take Dr. Stevens! This professor is the best! His lectures are amazing. He's criteria for the class is very clear. A test review for all 4 exams, yes Lord. The only way to do bad on a test is if you run out of time or didn't go over the material at all. He smoothly transition the class online due to Covid-19. I love him!
You get extra credit for doing test reviews. He's very helpful and wants everyone to pass. There's 4 tests, and the reviews are very similar to the test. Best math professor I've taken!
Very simple grading criteria, with only 5 graded test for the whole semester. Homework is not mandatory, lectures reflect exactly what will be on the test, and there are 5 test reviews that can be turned in for extra credit. Attendance is mandatory though you only get 4 tardys
Professor Stevens deeply cares about his students and their success. His class is made to pass. He explains everything step by step and is happy to elaborate on his explanations if you are confused. The extra credit test reviews are exactly like the test. I would love to take him again for statistics. He is really funny, kind, and easy to talk to.
I'm late on this review but TAKE HIM!! I was nervous about taking trig bc I wasn't sure what to expect, but his lectures are set up so that you will know the material for the tests. His extra credit is exactly like the test so do it! He's always available to chat so don't be afraid to ask questions. The key to passing: PRACTICE!!
Take Prof. Groccia if you can trust me !! Stevens makes you feel intimidated for asking a question. His teaching style is hard to keep up with you have to write down your answers on blank paper with no time to copy any info down. With Groccia you will have the work in 3 different formats to use in class, super easy to follow along.
Professor Stevens is the best math professor. He wants you to succeed. Lectures are clear and organize. Extra credit is great practice for test. He always takes the time for his students questions.
Stevens is a good teacher who will help you to understand what youre doing.
This is a really good professor who I would recommend to anyone. This semester we were online bc COVID and he made everything very easy to follow and accessible. If you have any questions just contact him because he will give great advice. I failed my first exam (my fault!!!) and I contacted him and he gave me study tips and from then I did great.
Best professor I have ever had!!
Math is a very difficult and intimidating math class but with this professor, he is a great choice! I had him when we had to swtich all of our classes to online due to COVID 19 and he was able to continue with his lectures like normal and it was very easy to learn! He made me feel like I was actually really good at math! Taking him again!
Stevens is hands down one of the best professors I've ever taken for anything at all. His grading is straight forward and there are no surprises in the course. His syllabus is very thorough and he stays true to it. If you show up for class, do the homework, and do the the test review, you will pass! The test reviews are very accurate and helpful!
I only gave him a 4 because his grading for the summer term was a bit weird. He grades your test by multiplying your Pearson test result (test percentage) and multiplies it by 20, that's your final grade. Tests are fairly easy though, do the homework and you'll pass with flying colors. Great Teacher, I'm going to take him in Fall again!
Professor Stevens is the best professor imaginable to teach math. He is very logical in his method of teaching, is straight forward, and is always accessible when further help is needed. If he is among the several professors youre considering, your decision should be an absolute no-brainer. Coming from a student who has taken two courses from him.
I've taken Professor Stevens for trigonometry and pre calculus and he was incredibly helpful during both courses. There were only 4 tests and 4 homeworks to go along with each test. There are no surprises on the tests, so as long as you do the homework you'll do great on the tests.
Professor Stevens was the most challenging class I've ever taken at Valencia. After reading a plethora of positive reviews, I automatically enrolled in his course. However, this course became my worst nightmare. List: Does not provide study guides, abnormal grading, complex exams/Homeworks, and only has 8 assignments in the WHOLE COURSE. #DoNotTake
I took Professor Stevens because of the prior positive reviews here. Unfortunately, I got the opposite of what was described of him. He does the bare minimum, from no study guides to his weird grading, Stevens is not the best. During exam day, He locks all the videos, homework, and any aid from Canvas. He claims the homework is the exam: incorrect
Best math professor! From day one all expectations are made clear on syllabus, grading, homework due dates, etc. You can tell he puts a lot of work into his lectures and if you do the homework after it all makes sense. He is always available if you need help. You really have to try to not do well in his class!
He was ok. I liked that he gave clear directions and I always knew the due dates. However, there isn't much work, only homework on pearson and 4 exams. No extra credit. He has video lectures which are helpful but I wish he had reviews before the exams. I wish he gave more opportunities for getting a better grade because the tests were hard.
He is eh, he gives good lectures and always informs us of due dates, but he only grades 4 sets of hw's (that are worth 5 points) and 4 exams (that are worth 20 points). Doesn't sound bad till you do bad on 2 exams and your chance of passing becomes extremely slim since he doesn't give extra credit or other assignments. His work is so bare bone.
I loved this professor! He uploads his lectures based on what chapter we're doing and you can download them. I am not perfect and math nor statistics but he gives you about a month to complete the HW for the chapter and only opens test the day it's due. I would run out of time which is why I got a C but I'm always second guessing myself. Take him!
Dr Stevens MAC-1105 class is great to take. His lectures are really well laid out. By just listening to his lectures and doing the practice during them, I was able to do the homework and do well on the tests. You have 4 tests with homework for each chapter in each unit. You need the online textbook for assignments, but I never needed it otherwise
His course was simple and straightforward. 4 tests and homework based on the chapters for the test. His lectures were well-organized, and I learned well by the "my turn your turn" methodology. As with other math classes, you can't cram concepts last minute. Test questions were similar to HW. Just keep up with the HW and dates and you'll be fine.
Due to COVID, the class was taken online. Very hard to get a good grade because he only has 4 homework and 4 tests, and the maximum is not 1000, is 100, so every little mistake counts against you.
Hes by far the worst teacher Ive had. His grading policy doesnt make sense when its enter into canvas, heavy grader, long assignments, doesnt really put so much effort into actually helping out! I would never take this professor again and refer anyone to take him!
Dr. Stevens class is pretty straightforward. As long as you pay attention to when the homework is due and study for the tests you should be fine. His office hours are also helpful if you have questions.
I took Professor Stevens for STA2023, MAC1105, and MAC114 before COVID-19 . His class is based on homework and exams. His lectures are well explained and he answers any questions you have. Just like any math class you need to practice to do well.
I took Dr. Stevens STA2023 in the same semester as his MAC1114 both online. His lectures are everything that you could want from a professor, interactive, engaging, well researched and to the point. He has 4 main test worth 20 points each and the other 20 points are divided between 4 sections of homework. I loved both classes. Take him, he's great!
I took MAC1114 in the same semester as Dr. Stevens STA2023. I was incredibly nervous for Trig but his lecture videos are fantastic! Keep up on the HW and study for the exams. 4 test worth 20 points each and 4 HW sections make up the last 20 points of the semester. Take him, you will not regret it!
I took this class for STA2023 and I am looking forward to take more of Professor Stevens classes especially Trig. He is very clear and detailed within his lectures making this class a breeze for me. If you partake within the lectures, homework and tests will be nothing! Really recommend this professor!!!
LOVED prof. Stevens!!! super supportive and easy to reach for any questions u might have. watch the lectures, take notes, and do the hw w/ the lectures and you WILL pass!! I was nervous stats would be hard but it genuinely was such a breeze with him. couldnt recommend him anymore. my friends w other professors suffered and i didnt, take him!!!
I have taken three online courses with Dr. Stevens during the pandemic. His lectures are incredibly informative and very straightforward. He tells you what you need to know to be successful in the homework and tests. Dr. Stevens's classes are the most organized and clear I have taken in my college career. You won't regret taking his classes.
He is very easygoing, his lectures are very informative and honestly made it so much better for me to understand a subject Im bad at. There are 4 test-20pts and 4 hw-5pts. He gives you time in between each test to do the hw and the only real due date for the hw is before the test. I recommend him to anyone who is a watch-then try type of learner.
Professor Stevens uploaded video lectures that made it very easy to understand the material with examples provided. It was easy to watch the lectures and do my homework and after, take the test. He gives you a little more than two weeks to do all the homework then, opens up the test for that module. Overall, if you do the work and try, you pass.
I had a hard time passing his exams but the class wasnt hard. If you study well and take good notes youll be okay. His homework helped and lectures too. 4 homework 4 exams. 90mins for the exams.
This class consist of watching lecture videos from one drive then completing homework assignments on MyMathLab. His class is very easy as long as you follow his lectures. On exam days you have one day to complete it and if you don't you get withdrawn from the class. He has very strict policies but the exam is the same material from MyMathLab.
Professor Steves was alright. He did 45min lectures every other day of the week and gave tons of homework about 3-5 sections of around 20 questions each in every module. His grading system is terrible homework was worth only 5 points and tests 20. No extra credit, no other options to bring up your grade other than doing good on hw and tests.
Terrible grading system. Gave tons of homework that was only worth 5 points. Lectures are long and will take a lot of your time. Test are worth 20 points so if you fail one it will be hard to get an A in the class. Weird but he will make you call him when you emailed him about extra credit. Over all if you are taking more classes dont take him.
Very good explanations in his lectures, not too much work but you definitely have to watch all the lectures and do everything he assigns if you want an A. Would take him again and again
Professor Stevens was great! Clear grading and only a few homework assignments per module and exams. Only 4 exams including the non-cumulative final, if you want a sort of at your own pace class this is the one. (Precalc online)
Stevens was an alright teacher he did take his time on the lectures which helped a lot in the tests but they were very long and hw was pretty long too and only worth 5 points. Tests were worth the most 20 points and if you failed one you probably wont pass with an A. Dont like his grading style and he doesnt give extra credit either. Study hard.
Stevens always reminds us that practice is important and actually offers plenty of it in class. I find that he truly understands the importance of the material he teaches and makes sure everyone can follow along. This makes him very concise with his lectures and is very keen on feedback. I plan on taking the rest of my math classes with him!
I took Professor Stevens for the fall semester for Statistical Methods and he was overall the best teacher i have taken at Valencia! He genuinely wants everyone to understand the material and cares for each one of his students. If you are going to take stats i really recommend Professor Stevens!!!
I took him for Calc 2. Lectures are active learning, he tackles example problems, then lets you try them. What you see in lectures is exactly what you see on the test. There are no surprises, just study lectures/homework/review you will be fine. 5 tests 20 points each. HW not graded but DO IT. Also don't be late to class, I learned the hard way.
Professor Stevens is 100% the best math teacher I've ever had hands down. I'm going, to be honest with you and say that I did not read the textbook at all and passed. He was always willing to help and wants you to pass. Definitely take him for Statistics.
I'm so glad I picked this proffesor for math. He is an amazing professor, he teaches very well. He gives you so much time to complete the homework which is easy There are 5 tests in total plus extra credit!! Also before a test, you can complete a test review for extra credit which HELPS SO MUCH to study. Definitely pick him!
Professor Stevens is the best, he only gives about 4 to 5 H.W per module, and you have over a month to complete, along with the opportunity to get extra credit, which is the test review, and only 4 module tests, which are easy, just the test review, and the final exam is not cumulative, TAKE HIM!!!! you will not regret it!!!
Arrive on time, pay attention, do the work and you will pass! His lectures are really clear, I love his teaching style. The textbook is only used to check what the lecture is about before. Not a lot of work and the final is not cumulative. You can see he cares and likes his job. One of the best math teachers I've ever had, I highly recommend him!!!
Dr. Stevens ensures every student leaves class with a solid understanding of the concepts covered therein. He grants extra credit if you complete the study guide, and I highly encourage you to do so as they are great preparation for the exams. Be respectful and applied and he will go out of his way to help you master Calculus.
I have taken Professor Stevens for 1105, 1114, and now 2312. I have done well in all of his classes because of the way he teaches. The material for Calc 2 is not easy, but he provides all the resources for you to succeed. I wish he taught Calc 3. Every professor teach like him!
Dr. Stevens is the greatest professor you will find in the span of your academic career. If you show up to class on time, pay attention and do the work, I guarantee you will succeed not only in his class, but in future Maths courses because he builds each topic upon a solid foundation.
Professor Stevens is hands down the best math professor I've ever had at Valencia. If you show up to class on time, complete the homework on time, and really put effort into the class, then I can guarantee that you'll pass! The way he teaches is very clear and he's willing to help you out if you need it. You won't regret taking him.
Just finished the semester and he is the best math professor I've ever had. Everything is super clear in his class. Homework, class lectures and tests actually have a purpose. You can tell he created a whole system to help us as students. Good opportunities for extra credit as well. Respect professor. 1000% recommended.
I would highly recommend anyone to take his class, his test reviews are exactly like the tests, he makes lectures easy to comprehend and if you have any questions, he is willing to help you, especially during office hours. I've taken for two class now and will take him again for statistics, he's an amazing professor.
I had professor Stevens for pre calc and I enjoyed his lectures for the most part. No surprises on the tests! if you can understand the homework you can understand the test no questions asked. would take a class with him again for sure
Professor Stevens teaching style is great, he provides a framework of studying math and actively applies it during his lectures and homework. He provides additional studying material to be well-prepared for a test, which is great.
Dr. Stevens is the best math professor I have ever taken. He genuinely cares for his students and offers plenty of office hours. His classes are very straightforward and he offers to slow down during the lectures if needed. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for a good math professor!
If you want to learn math, he is the greatest professor to do so. He gives many examples that help you clearly understand the material and will help you through the process of understanding it. He is the greatest Professor I have ever taken. I enjoyed his class very much. Highly recommend.
The class was pretty easy and clear. The professor does lectures where he explains the content really well. When we had our tests, he would have really good test reviews, and the questions from the test would be just like the questions in the review. He also never put any new or strange questions in the tests, it was all stuff he taught.
Amazing professor! He knows how to teach and his grading style is very easy to understand Hs very good to do test review as that will prepare you for the real deal. His style is to do a couple problems then have us practice some by ourselves which really motivates the brain for learning
Professor Stevens is super clear and straightforward. Homework doesn't count for a grade but if you do it on your own time and pay attention in the lectures there's no reason for you not to get an A. He has test reviews and does extra credit. Theres also no quizzes or surprises, only graded on 4 test.
Won Wtevens carried me through calc 2. He made everything very clear and as long as you pay attention in class and do test reviews and homework not a single thing will catch you by surprise.
Best professor I've had, really cares about students and explains thought process in the most concise way possible. Won Wtevens fr.
I can not express this enough Jon Stevens is a great professor. Although the class grading is a little challenging is not bad because it genuinely pushes you to do your best. Learning material and lectures were great I recommend not missing any class and dedicating time to the homework.
Professor Stevens is awesome! I had a smooth journey. Enroll, go to class & pass! There are no trick questions in any of the exams or assignments.
Professor Stevens was amazing. There's optional homeworks that go along with each class. The only grades that he puts in are the 4 exams, and an extra credit point is possible if you turn in the test review too. It's a super simple and straightforward class, and he cares a lot about each student.
Professor Stevens is a great professor! His lectures are always well organized and straightforward, so if you come to class on time, are ready to learn, and complete your homework, you will definitely pass this course. I had Professor Stevens this semester for the first time, and I would take him again without a doubt!
Overall good professor. Gives extra credit. Homework isn't graded, so just pay close attention to lectures and write good notes and you'll be fine. Attendance is mandatory. There is a study guide. DO THE STUDY GUIDE! Its exactly like the tests.
What you see in class is what you have in the exam. The reviews will give you everything that you need for the tests. But you need to study and prepare time in advance. You can tell that Professor Stevens likes what he does and is willing to explain the modules in an understandable and uncomplicated way.
I took College Algebra with him this semester. He's honestly one of the best math professors! He offers extra credit and even though he doesn't offer homework grades or assignment grades, if you pay attention in his class, you will do fine on tests. He's also really chill and cares about his students, I am taking stats with him again next semester.
Dr. Stevens is the best professor anybody could ask for. I took his Trig class after I looked him up on this website and I'm glad I took him cause he makes learning math easy and enjoyable, cares about each student, and sets you up for success. get extra credit for doing the exam review which will help you do well on the exam. take him!
If you pay attention to the lectures, you will do just great! He grades their classes with 5 tests, but the test review is exactly how the test will look.
His tests have no surprises as long as you do the homework and study guides. He has office hours throughout the week if you have any questions. There aren't any quizzes and he doesn't make you turn in homework, but make sure you put in the work and you will pass. Had a really fun semester with Professor Stevens.
Overall great professor!! He only grades test so you have to do good on all the test if not you wont pass. The test review is exactly what is going to be on the test. He offers extra credit as well. He is very good at teaching step by step and gives optional homework after every lecture that i highly recommend doing for extra practice.
Withdrew me for being late so make sure you're on time! The first two exams were easy if you just practice, start off strong cause material for exam 3 is OMG! Expects you to already know everything so he flies through the information. If you're math savvy this is definitely the class for you. He also gives partial credit on exam where its due.
Professor Stevens is one of the best professors I have taken at Valencia. I took him for MAC1140 and MAC2311. There are about 4-5 tests with optional (but helpful) homework after each lesson. There are also test reviews that count for extra credit. The best thing is that he can make the content simple while teaching everything you need to know.
Dr. Stevens is Amazing! He is passionate and his ability to teach is phenomenal. If you attend his class, practice on the homework and do the exam review questions that he provides. It is an easy A. He gives an extra credit for doing the exam review questions which help to prepare you for the exam. Take him!
Good professor, very organized.
Professor Stevens is amazing. Teaches great and is a very down to earth an amazing person. I would recommend him to absolutely anyone.
Professor Stevens was a great teacher to have for statistics. I am not too great at math and find it confusing at times, but the way Mr. Stevens has the class structured you are set up for success as long as you attend the lectures and at least the test review for practice (there is homework, but not graded)
wish i found him sooner for college algebra, he was great! very very clear on what to expect on tests, explains difficult concepts in a simple, understandable way, and gives opportunities for extra credit. would recommend this professor to anyone! i usually struggle with math but this semester was a breeze thanks to dr. stevens
This professor is absolutely amazing. At first, I was nervous about the fact that his grades are only the tests. There is 4 tests worth 25 points each, and you can turn in the test reviews (which I highly recommend doing) for one extra credit point each. He teaches amazingly well, and he cares about you actually learning. Totally would take again!
Professor Stevens is an amazing teacher. He explains every problem in great detail and makes sure the students get practice during the lesson. In the class, he only grades tests but there are only 5 of them. The tests are not hard and he gives study guides that are exactly like the test. Professor Stevens is very professional.
Professor Stevens was my favorite professor so far. I really enjoyed this class. Statistics can be a pretty difficult course but Professor Stevens made it very easy to understand and fun to learn about. Would 100% recommend taking him!
I had Professor Stevens for both College Algebra and Statistical Methods. He's super chill and friendly. His class, even though it's solely based on tests and extra credits, he will make sure you truly understand the materials before moving on. Definitely one of the best math professors in Valencia :)
he is awesome, good lectures, he makes the subject easier with he's ways of explaining the topics. Summarizes a chapter in one or sometimes 2 slides of theory, then he spend most of the time explaining and doing exercises with the class, practicing and practicing. In order to get a good grade and pass the class i would recommend to do all homeworks
I believe this professor has potential however his learning style is not for everyone. He only grades the tests 20 points and offers 1 single point of extra credit. If you are a bad test taker, do not take his class because you won't have the homework to back up your grade. its especially difficult to take this class over the summer.
All he does is grade tests. One point extra credit in the test reviews isn't enough to help a student. I'm a person who struggles at Math and even when I ask for help, he does not make it easy. I don't know why he does not grade the homework and why would he assign it if he's not gonna grade it? Stats is a hard class but he makes it even worse.
If you actually want to learn, then take Prof. Stevens. Mathematics is by no means my strongest subject however I understand as a STEM major; math's will be a subject that I will need to know beyond the surface level in order to achieve my desired level of success in the engineering field. I would take Prof. Stevens course again without question!
The statistics class was excellent. Professor Stevens only grades 4 tests, each with extra credit if you so choose to do it. He uses a program, "StatCrunch," to assist with course work. Do the homework; I was confused for a bit and he told me "do the homework." Did it and I finished with an A. Very reasonable, very respectful; 10/10.
This is an easy class he. The tests are a breeze and the four of them are the only grade. Besides the extra credit which is a study guide for the test.
He always says that if you do the class activities and the homework, you'll get an easy A. It's completely true. He also gives you opportunity to get some extra credit in. He's a good teacher, but won't tolerate disrespect.
Dr. Stevens is an excellent professor, the homework is optional but seriously, do it if you want to pass the tests. We're graded on the tests only, the test reviews are extra credit. Take advantage of office hours & tutoring; come to class on time, he really hates tardiness. Trig is hard but if you pay attention in class & do the hw you'll pass.
He is an amazing professor, his classes are easy to understand, and there are NO surprises in the tests. Homework is optional but it's good practice for the tests. There are 4 tests and he gives 4 test reviews which are extra credits so if you want to excel in the tests you should definitely complete them. The grading criteria is really simple.
Clear expectations from the start and is treats all students respectfully.
A genuinely great math professor. His method of teaching feels engaging and clear, which made it easy for me to get a grasp of the content and do well on tests. He offers non-graded homework and test reviews that give you a good idea of what you will be seeing on tests. Cannot recommend Professor Stevens enough and will be choosing him again.
One of the most fantastic mathematics professors I have taken in my life! He structures his class to ensure that every student will succeed. His classes make you engage in active learning. He truly goes above and beyond for his students in every way! He is so understanding and helped me out on many occasions. You won't regret taking him, trust me!
Amazing professor, even on tests he is lenient on grading and will give you partial credit sometimes as long as he can tell you're trying. His lectures are amazing and you learn a lot from them. I've always struggled a lot with math but this class was a breeze for me, just do the test reviews and pay attention in class and you'll do amazing.
Pretty good professor overall. He gives reviews that are 100% what's on the test and he structures his lectures very well. Took this class as a dual enrollment student. Only reason I didn't give him five stars was because I had an altercation with him about phone usage in the classroom and he was pretty condescending about it.
I took Trigonometry with Professor Stevens and his lectures are thorough and includes active learning so he knows you are learning the material. The tests are exactly like the reviews which if you do them and hand them in on test day before you begin your test you get 1 extra credit to your grade. He also doesn't do a cumulative test for the final.
Study the test review, easy A.
Best calc Professor , study the test review and you will pass for sure!!!
Professor Stevens is a fantastic teacher. He explains everything you need to know for each unit through his lectures and step-by-step instructions. The homework is not mandatory, but it is highly recommended that you complete it for extra practice. I also recommend completing the test reviews for extra credit on your unit tests.
Professor Stevens is honestly the best. I've had him for 3 semesters now for math and his lectures are amazing. Tests are basically the same format as the test reviews. The only thing is that he only grade tests and give 1 extra credit points for every test review completed. However, he tries to make the test as easy as possible. He's awesome :)
he is amazing! very straightforward, everything in class is on the test. No graded homework (optional). Review packets are exactly like the test and for extra credit. Im not the best at math and he made it very easy.
If you need to take Stats, this is the guy to take it with! His class consisted of 4 grades and they are all tests. He gives you a study guide with all the questions, in the same order on the test and same wording; the only difference is the numbers. You can get extra credit with it. My grade is the outcome of missing class. Show up and its easy!
This man literally has the gift of teaching. I'm the kind of student who kinda struggles when it comes to math, but I managed to score a 96 in his class. He's really clear in his lectures and gives practice tests that are similar to the test. He also gives extra credit. If you miss class, your kinda screwed, but other than that he's great.
Professor Stevens is one of the best math teachers I have ever had. Class grade is based solely on exams but there is no surprise questions on the test. If you show up to class, do your hw, and complete your test review, you should pass with flying colors. Would take him all the way through Calc 3 and DE if he taught it. Highly recommend.
Very good professor and the teaches well. The homework is not for a grade and only the test are counted, however as long as you pay attention in class and do the test review the tests should be easy.
Although there are only four exams where you really need to do good to succeed, he makes it very easy to achieve. He is a kind, caring, and concise guy. There are no surprises, and the work is worth it because he makes it all easy to digest. He is the right choice for an enjoyable stats experience
He's nice and his lessons are easy to follow. Homework (which is optional and treated as practice) is the same as the problems you go over in the lesson. The test review (also optional but extra credit) is the same as the homework, and the test are the EXACT SAME (numbers aside) as the test review. Your whole grade depends on your test.
I have already taken this professor for MAC 1105 and Calculus 1 and at the time of this review I am currently taking Calc 2 with him, and the results are always the same, go to the lectures, do the homework and test review, and I guarantee you will pass any course with him.
Dr Stevens is truly one of the best professor! He truly cares and teach math with a passion. As long as you put in the effort and attend class, it's an easy A! Highly recommends
Awesome guy! Be ready to learn from day one. Extra credit is optional (but is worth doing it), however, I highly encourage to do the homework to pass the class with A. Class is easy as long as you put in the work to practice the lessons. You can get a B+ easy!
Great professor takes the time to actually talk to students and find out what there future plans are. Structure of class is extremely well formatted to making sure students succeed.
Dr. Stevens has a talent for teaching. Not only will he cover the material, but will go beyond that and teach you the mental steps he takes to facilitate the math process. He is caring and makes an effort to know you. Class grade is based only on exams and extra credit. He is very clear with his expectations from day one. Overall, great professor.
I took Dr. Stevens twice, once for precalc and once for trig. I went back to him to take my second class because he is truly an amazing professor. He is very upfront about what you need to do to succeed and is thorough when he is teaching in class. I would for sure recommend him to people looking for a good math teacher!
This professor is quite nice, he really knows how to teach a course and is very engaging with you specially if you partake in office hours. As for the grading scale, it sucks you only have 4 exams and your grade is based on that only and 4 extra credit if you bring the review before the test. I wished he would incorporate quizzes or hw.
I took him for statistics, and he was very straightforward and easy to have as a professor! The homework assignments were optional, but they are great practice for the tests. Your only grades are the 4 tests, there isn't a cumulative final exam, but there are 4 extra credit opportunities through the review packets :) I would take again!
Lectures is very organized and teaches you everything to need to be successful in the class. Please do the homework even though it's optional, it really sets you up for greatness. There's 5 tests including the final. Each test is based on the block you just been thought. DO THE TEST REVIEWS! It's basically identical to the exams.
Amazing teacher. Arrive on time to attend the lectures because class starts right on time. Do the extra credit, which is the test reviews, because they will help you tons to be prepared for the exam. Even though the homework does not have a grade, I recommend you do it because it helps you lock in all the knowledge for the topics.
Makes the course material very easy to understand. As long as you do the homework and complete the test review (and you're even able to turn it in for extra credit) you will be setting yourself up for success. Very communicative and would recommend for anyone taking calc 2 on this campus.
Prof. Stevens is a great teacher. He explains things wonderfully and he provides many opportunities to clear up any confusion you may have. The course work matches the homework, which matches the test review, which is almost identical to the test. It is all really easy if you practice a lot.
This professor helped me in my STA2023 class by making the material understandable and making himself available for questions as well. I enjoyed my time in this class because the homework assignments were related to everything taught in class which was very useful. I would strongly recommend this professor for anyone.
took his trig class this summer semester and it was amazing. your grade is based off of 5 main tests and he gave 1 point extra credit for each test if you completed the test review. you can tell he knows what he is doing and is not lost or just relying on a power point. he cracks jokes here and there and is overall super chill, i 100% recommend :))
In person trig. Professor Stevens is great, his class is very organized and concise. BE CAREFUL, he only grades 5 things: 5 tests. That's it, 5 tests and nothing else, so if you struggle in one of them you will not get an A on the class.
Professor Stevens is a great professor. There are only 4 tests in the course and homework if you choose to do it since it is not graded. He gives out test reviews that are extremely identical to the actual test. The class isn't hard, and he does a wonderful job teaching stats.
The professor makes the material very digestible. The homework is not graded but is great practice, and the test review packets are super helpful. Using unstuckstudy ai alongside the textbook and lectures was a game-changer for me. Would definitely take again.
Professor Stevens grades only based on tests. However, in his class, he shows how to do it once, then we do it once. He then gives optional homework and an extra credit that is worth 1 point. Those are EXACTLY what will be in the test, even in the same order. If you go to class, and do the hw and E.C. you will 100% end with A.
He pushes you to be better and find ways for you to be better or do better in a field you are struggling in. He doesn't make life harder for you but rather looks for ways to be it easier.
The professor is not bad and he's a good teacher, but I have problems with his class structure. There is no grades homework, only 4 tests and a little bit of extra credit, so bomb one test and you're done. No notes can be used on tests. Anyone with anxiety, don't take this class. Otherwise, the test review is exactly like test and is most helpful.
Prof Stevens an excellent professor. He is highly knowledgeable of how math works and it can be seen in his teaching. He will not hesitate to help you if you need it, and participation helps you learn. Homework is always optional, but required for success. The test always mirrors the HW/review. You will always learn in his class!
Prof. Stevens is a great math teacher. I've always sucked at math, but I passed his class with an A. His lectures are straightforward. HW is optional but should be done. The test review is like the HW, and the exam is just like the test review. I highly recommend this professor. He truly cares, and if you put in the effort it's pretty easy to pass.
He is the best! The class structure is organized and clear to understand. He only do 4 tests and 1 extra credit point for each test by doing the test review. He explains well and the homework helps too. He is caring and wants you to succeed in his class, I would take him again if it's possible. If you struggle with math, he is the best option.
This was the fifth class I've taken with him (I'm registered for Calculus 2 as well), and he's always great. You'll be all good if you go to class and do the homework (optional) and the test review (extra credit). He only grades the 4-5 tests you take during the semester and uploads the lecture notes from class if you miss them.
I have taken Calc II and Stats with him and both classes were amazing. This professor is straightforward with the class material and it is very easy to understand the class / hw / test dynamic. The grade depends only on tests, but the questions are very similar to the examples reviewed in class and the hw questions (optional). Definitely take him.
The only thing graded in this class are the tests, so do not take him if you have test anxiety. Otherwise, read the test review before going into the test and you will get an A. Don't be late, he starts class right away! A great math teacher, recommend him 100%
I have taken professor Stevens all the way from Trigonometry up to his highest taught class Calc 2. I can say without a doubt he is one of the best professors I have taken in my life time. He is straightforward and I highly recommend him if you are considering a course with him and are willing to put in the work towards your education.
Prof. Stevens is a great professor. His grading is super clear, if you do the homework (non-graded), you are prepared for the testing. He do a pre-test which is exaclty the test. He only grade base on the pre-test which is extra and the test. His class is good, he do 1 example, than you do it. LOVED HIM! Ended with 104%
Dr Stevens is a wonderful professor. I took his class because a friend of mine referred me to take his class and I was more then impressed. Everything on the exams is exactly the same as what he teaches in class. I love the structure of his lectures, they are organized very well. If you are looking for a professor that will teach well, take him.
Amazing! There are 5 tests and all are based on Test reviews. Homework was optional. Organized class and course material. As long as you put work into the test reviews and practice them well before each test, you will definietly pass the class. Highly recommend makes life simpler and doesn't have a cumulative exam. Expect to do work.
Amazing prof for Calc 2. Hard course but he is worth it.
Prof. Stevens has been the best math teacher I've had so far. He brings humor to his lectures and intentionally makes the content easy to grasp. The class is based only on exams and 5 extra credit pt opportunities. The exams are the same as the study guide, hw, and class problems. You won't regret taking his class, he is very respected and kind.
Super amazing teacher, honestly the best math professor I've ever had. He's a cool guy and he got some jokes too. Make sure you do the test reviews because it's the exact same thing that's on the test. Definitely take a class with him if you want an A.
This professor was great! His teaching was very straightforward and he always wants people to ask questions. There is no cumulative final, just 5 unit tests throughout the semester and review packets for extra credit. Your time will never be wasted, and I would definitely take a class with him again.
Excellent Professor. Trigonometry is a difficult class but Professor Stevens made it easy to understand. He is also just overall a cool guy! Make sure to do the homework and the study guide tho! Cause it's basically the test.
I took him for Calc 2 and Trig and he made both these classes very manageable and easy to learn. I finished with an A in both of them and honestly wish I took him for all my other math classes.
This professor is the best math prof I've ever had. His lectures are very well organized. Doing the homework and test review are essential to pass the class. Only tests are graded!!
Professor Stevens has a talent for teaching. Homework is ungraded, but it prepares you well for the test. His lecture is engaging and hands-on. Does a problem, and then you repeat what he did. The only bad thing is that sometimes he may have a sort of has an attitude when you ask questions. He is a good person though. I recommend him.
Dr. Stevens is the kind of math professor you'll wish you had for every math class you take. He is always enthusiastic about the content he teaches, and while he only gives grades on tests and not on homework, he also gives extra credit beforehand that is almost identical to the test. One of the best I've ever had, there's no going wrong with him.
Professor Stevens does very well as an instructor. The fact that he only grades tests makes this class great for you if you're a good test taker, and likewise difficult if you are not. His extra credit is very similar to the tests and helps a lot, would definitely recommend doing those.
I hadn't taken geometry or college algebra before, but I was still able to fully comprehend and apply the content that he taught me. He will be happy to answer your questions, but he will also have great expectations from you. He even offered extra tutoring for those who didn't have great bases of trigonometry. Only grades are tests, so STUDY!!
Dr.Stevens is great. Although you gotta be ready to study, there're no surprises in the tests as he says, everything he teaches would be the content in the test. Doing the practices+homework for each module can secure a solid A. He's accessible outside the class on office hours and has clear criteria for the exams and for the reviews (extra credit)
Professor Stevens was one of the best math teachers I've ever had. The way he lectures is very concise and as long as you attend classes and practice the homework you will do just fine on the test. Only grades are the exams which makes it easier to study at you own pace and understand the entire unit.
Not my favorite professor. He is honest and there are no surprises on his tests. If you are a visual learner, you may struggle with his teaching style.
Awesome teacher, examples are straightforward and easy to understand. I love his teaching method, if you are a visual learner he is the guy to go too! I took him for Trig and Calc and willing to take more math classes from him in the future! He is caring and will help during his office hours about stat questions! Highly recommend this professor!
Amazing teacher! he really cares for teaching and knows how to teach, it is a straightforward class, as long as you pay attention and do the work that is told to do you will easily pass his class! he really makes sure to make the lectures where we can all understand and retain the information.
Great professor and great class. The way the lectures and grading system are designed makes everything easy for you as a student. Anyone paying attention and whiling to put some effort should be able to get a good grade. Currently taking two more classes with him and planning to continuing doing so for the rest of my calculus path.
Professor Stevens class is super easy, just one test per module and the review is literally the test. Teaches well but HATES lateness (even 1 min) and can be kinda arrogant. Still recommend him, easy A if you're on time.
Is not what they said..... not too much to say...exam is the sheet work he gives...Sometimes he behaved strangely.
Dr. Stevens is truly one of the best math professors I've ever had. I took him for Trig and Calc I, and I'm already signed up for Calc II with him next semester. His exams match the homework and reviews, so there are never surprises. If you practice, you'll do great. He genuinely cares about his students. He explains clearly and is always patient!
He is overall a great professor, very straightforward. If you show up on time, do all the work, extra credit, and pay attention you will pass 100%
Professor Stevens is an awesome person & an amazing teacher! I got a B in Calc I, but with him in Calc II, I earned an A. He explains concepts so clearly, making even tough topics understandable. Just don't be late, if you miss first part of the class, it can be hard to catch up. Make sure you do your homework after each session. Highly recommend!!
Excellent professor if you're willing to put in the work! He only asks of you to show up to the weekly lectures, recommends doing the homework to sharpen your skills (not graded assignments), and even provides test reviews that serve as both practice and extra credit. I see no reason to not take this professor!
Excellent professor! He only asks of you to show up to the weekly lectures, recommends doing the homework to sharpen your skills (not graded assignments), and even provides test reviews that serve as both practice and extra credit and he always put effort in improve his lectures. I see no reason to not take this professor!
I absolutely loved taking this course with Dr. Stevens! The way he taught and his lectures were amazing. I am usually one who has a hard time with math, but because of him, I was able to grasp the information extremely well and aced his tests! As long as you attend class and do the homework, you will be set.
His class is very easy to understand and he explains the material clearly. The only things he really requires are attendance and arriving on time. His test reviews are almost identical to the actual exams, so if you study them, there will be no surprises on test day. I would definitely take another course with him again.
Pretty chill guy. Class wasn't too difficult to the point where you would be stressing on day to day basis. His method of teaching is exquisite as well. if you don't know math, go to him.
The best math professor. Makes calculus seem easy, take this class! You will learn! Only 5 test grades.
I took Professor Stevens for Stats a while ago and he was the only Professor that made math make sense to me. His work is organized and he puts effort to make the lessons easy. The class is test heavy but he offers help and test preps you can work with before exams. He also likes having students work together for in class work.
By far one of my greatest experiences with a professor, his way of teaching makes the course content seem trivial. There are no surprises, he offers extra-credit test reviews that are almost identical to the corresponding exam and makes studying actually worth it. He's also just a fun professor all around, couldn't recommend him enough.
Dr. Stevens is an amazing professor who explains everything clearly and step by step. He works through one problem in detail and then gives you a similar one to try on your own. Homework is not graded, so your grade comes only from the tests. If you complete the test review, you can earn extra credit, and the tests are exactly like the review
