Great Guy to talk to and ask for help!

Best lab instructor ever, pretty sure everyone loves him.

He's great at what he does & he knows what he's teaching. Very easy to talk to & Jay's always there for you. If you ever have the chance to take his class, DO IT! He's been through the tough 4 years of GCM like us so he knows what it's like being a student. He's very understanding & overall a great prof. 1010

Really good at explaining and he always makes me laugh

Classes with Jay as your instructor is really exciting, it makes you want to look forward to each class!! He ensures the class understands material and even shares some extra tips and tricks. He understands and communicates with the class really well. Other than that, I'd say he's pretty hip too.

Jay is the coolest guy. This is the only class I have on this day, and although it's a pain to commute an hour and a half to school for one class, he makes it all worth while. He's great at giving feedback and really makes sure you understand the material. The coolest, funniest, most caring instructor! I'd love to have him again in future years.

Honestly my favourite professor I've had. Makes lectures a lot more interesting than they would be without him and tells great stories to go with it.

This class was very enjoyable as an elective, and Jay tries his best to explain the concepts and software in detail. He cares about the students and makes an effort to engage with them. It's easy to be interested in the subject from the way the material is taught.

Honestly Ryerson should hire more profs like Jay. He's young, so the examples he shows in lectures are actually relevant. He also is very understanding, and knows what types of struggles a student is going through. Definitely would take this class again!

Jay is such a greta prof! He's such a breath of fresh air compared to the usual prof you have. He's young, hip, and is super knowledgable about the field. He always presents relevant examples in class and makes sure everyone is on the same page in the labs. He's super caring about his students and genuinely wants to see all of them succeed.

Its so refreshing to have a prof who can really relate to students and understands student life today. He genuinely cares about his students and is very accommodating. The class itself was enjoyable and easy to follow with organized notes and relevant examples from his life. I'd enrol in any other class he's teaching in a heartbeat.

Jay is the best prof I've had since university. Even though Jay lectures, it just feels like he is having a casual conversation with you but at the same time, you're learning. He is very caring for his students and tries to find all kinds of ways to assist you if you need. His class is the only class where i can relax my mind and still learn!

Jay is my absolute favorite professor. He's extremely hilarious and does his best at helping us. He can be a little strict with grading but only to help us get used to being professionals in the industry. I'd love to have him as my professor again next year and I would definitely suggest this course to many others. It's extremely fun!

Very helpful and humorous

Jay was honestly one of my favourite profs this semester. He is so different from the typical strict professor stereotype, which makes attending class more fun! He is honestly so supportive and funny, he gives really great feedback and knows how to make his students laugh. Would definitely take his class again.

Single greatest professor ever. Amazing, amazing, amazing. Super prepared and does a lot of work - answers questions right away, responds to discussion forum posts quickly, posts grades promptly. Tries hard to keep classes engaging (super hilarious and cute #fireupthatchilipepper). Probably the only lecture+lab i never fell asleep in.

This prof is amazing during lectures, he is very funny and managed to learn all of our names (aprox. 200). He is very caring and his projects are very fun. If you want to learn Illustrator in a fun way this is the class to take.

Honestly he is without a doubt one of the best professors in the world. Always chill and prepared and quirky, Jay is a pleasure to be around. His lectures are amazing and his labs even better. 100/100 definitely recommend him as a professor as well as his classes!

Jay is an amazing instructor! I wasn't very familiar with Illustrator before, and the first couple of weeks are really awesome at building up the necessary and basic skills needed to complete assignments effectively. As someone not in GCM I really enjoyed that class!

Really amazing guy, but don't think I don't forget him calling the Star Trek Enterprise the DEATH STAR. Like come on man, they're completely different! The Death star is spherical. SPHERICALLLL!!!

Absolutely my favourite teacher! He teaches you everything you need to know in order to succeed in his class. I had never used illustrator before this class and i feel very comfortable using it now. Quizzes are quite fair and easy if you pay attention in class. love him and hope to take another class with him soon.

This professor is a real gem. He cares so much about the performance of his students that it really translates in how well each of us learns in his course. He is extremely personable and understands the industry very well. 100% would take his class again/if I could go back I would probably have studied in GCM! Take his courses :) he rocks.

The greatest professor ever. I have attended Ryerson for years and have never met anyone that has cared about his students and made himself accessible like Jay has. If you sit down with him, he will explain to you as to how to improve your work before submission-no excuse for getting a bad mark as long as you're proactive.

Amazing prof. You can truly see how much he cares for his students - learning over 200 people names, giving insightful feedback on work and just having a pleasant personality overall. You don't feel dreaded to go to his lectures or labs since it is always a fun time. If you went to lecture and lab, you should pass the exam with flying colours.

Finally, a professor that remembers what it's like to be a student. Sympathetic, patient, friendly relationship with his class, relates course content to students' majors, and even goes above and beyond by taking time to remind us of academic deadlines (within the course and general important University dates). Therefore shows he cares!

Amazing lecturer - so caring, fun and informative. Has real work experience in his field and consistently brings in examples to class to show what we can do with the skills he's teaching us.

This has been, by far, my favourite course that I've taken and I credit that 100% to Jay! He is so sweet and funny and really just makes going to class enjoyable! this is the only class in my entire university career that I have not missed a single class. Best professor I've ever had! Jay is super kind, really enthusiastic, funny, and just cares about everyone. Understands what it's like to be a student, and gets the class engaged really well. Jay is one of the my favourite profs, not just this semester but ever. He's nice, cracks jokes, gets students, has credible real industry experience, makes all the concepts easy to understand, and did I mention nice? One of the nicest.

Jay is the best prof you can ask for! The material is easy if you pay attention (go to all your labs and at least half the lectures), but it's not just a silly bird course. I learned a lot and although I'm an RTA student I can definitely see myself using the things I learned in Design & Layout in the future!

Structures his course with quizzes and practice homework so you learn for bigger projects/exams. Helps that he is very down-to-earth, understanding, and funny!

Favorite professor!

Very knowledgeable in this field because of his past experience in industry. He's funny in lectures and it makes class interesting. It's not a class you should skip because everything he says is IMPORTANT and RELEVANT. He's very helpful and caring towards his students' success that it's impossible to fail. Emails you back so quick, makes jokes that are actually funny, makes your love what you're doing. If you know the content you pass the exam, which is exactly how it should be. Other profs need to take notes.

I love Jay so much. My absolute favourite prof. His classes are so structurally organized and he's sucha chill guy. He's very helpful as well and very relatable. K so he doesnt post content online to force you to go to class, but honestly hes such a gem youre gonna want to go to every class. Hes incredibly patient and extremely understanding, and part of me what to find every class he teaches and take them all.

He is an amazing professor Im surprised he isnt valued more by Ryerson. His classes are so interesting and fun. I want to go to his class which doesnt happen with many courses. I am not in FCAD and I took this course because it was recommended to me by a friend. I am so happy I took this course I learnt a skill and was motivated to go to school.

Jay is the personification of the word teacher. He puts so much effort into his class, makes lectures and labs great and fun to attend, happily answers all questions, and addresses the students as equals. GCM 130 is such a fun (AND USEFUL) course. I couldn't recommend it enough. Jay's easily one of the biggest beauties at Ryerson.

I'm in my final semester and Jay is the best prof I've had in my undergrad career. I was reluctant to take GCM130 but I'm so glad I did. Jay's passion, enthusiasm, and sincerity towards graphic design is so infectious that I don't dread but look forward to the 9 am lectures. The most easy going Prof I've had, im not a GCM student and not familiar with graphic desin what so ever, Jay took the time to go step by step to give the instructions and is super easy to understand. Would take this class or have Jay as a professsor again in a heart beat. 10/10

First years, if you're looking at your schedule and you see his name, do not switch out. If you're thinking about switching into his class, by all means do so. I wasn't sure about the program when I first entered, but he made me want to stay and taught us the various roots you could take. He also would tell us about job offers in lectures!

J Wong is one of the reasons I'm deciding to stick with my major. His labs and lectures are solid and you feel like you learn something each time you go to class, and he reinforces learned skills with small relevant projects and some low-stakes quizzes for your own benefit. I loved Jay's classes and kicked myself the few times that i missed them

Amazing prof! I would take his classes over and over again if I could! He's very engaging and humorous and he also does his best to connect better with his students. This one's truly a gem.

Jay was the highlight of my university career. I'm not kidding. His classes got me through my third year and I wish I could take more of the classes that he's teaching. I left his class with portfolio material and a better understanding of the career route I wanted to take. He's also super invested in your success, you don't be disappointed!

I had Jay for GCM130 during my first year online and he is a large part of the reason why I enjoyed the course so much. He is by far the most caring, engaging and relatable prof I've had, and you can tell that he really wants the best for his students. His delivery of course material is very engaging and not too complex.

JAY IS THE BEST PROF I HAD THIS YEAR! I am in my first year and I took GCM130 with him and his class was the only class I GENUINELY enjoyed. he is the most caring teacher/prof i've ever came across. the course can be a bit tough sometimes but he is VERY open for questions and replies within minutes! he even hung out with us over zoom all the time!

Jay is among the best profs I had so far at Ryerson. He's patient, good at explaining things, and so fun! I learned so many skills in this course. Taking this class an elective is one of the best things you can do for your mental health and your career in a pandemic.

Best prof, take his class

His dry humor is the best. No one seems to laugh except me. I got you bro. He teaches step by step so don't miss class. He really teaches you the basics and more to learn illustrator and I wouldn't have been able to pass my interior design year without this knowledge. Seriously recommend his classes for new designers.

I absolutely love this man. He one of the first profs i had for an online semester due to COVID19 and he made the experience great. He was very caring and the assignments we did, didnt even feel like assignment because it was that fun. If you have the chance to take him, you should!!

jay is an amazing prof! he's incredibly flexible and sets his students up for success. he always has very clear assignment instructions and grading criteria so you know exactly what to do. he's really accessible outside of class & made online learning so enjoyable because of how organized his class portal is. highly recommend!!!!!!!

One of the best professors I had at TMU. Very caring, interesting, funny, and interactive prof. Class is super easy but takes a lot of time to complete deliverables. This is a gold mine for GCM students. If your not interested or creative I would suggest avoiding this class from my experience

My favourite prof so far! Jay is very kind and hilarious too. He gives clear and straightforward lectures along with clear assignment outlines and fair grading. He's patient and is always willing to help you during and after labs. Not to mention that he's easily accessible through emails, which are always friendly. Definitely recommend him!!!

It's true what everyone says about him, he is a great professor. His lectures were interesting and the assignments were genuinely enjoyable to do.

Professor Wong is engaging and makes the class enjoyable. The workload is manageable with clear instructions. unstuck AI was a lifesaver for staying organized and prepping for tests. Definitely recommend this class if you're interested in the subject matter.
