Easy mult. choice tests. Interesting well spoken and knowledgeable. Made us write 1 term paper. Tests takes questions from the reading and class notes.

Funny guy, sort of quirky. Class is interesting and the tests are easy.

Kinda wierd and quirky - The hair gets a definate chili pepper by itself.

Good class. Only has 4 multiple choice tests, so don't screw up. Flashcard everything and you'll be fine

Wow, I've never seen a teacher as weird or as funny as him. He's cool though (especially his hair). All his quirky stuff , along with hitting on th middle aged woman in the front row make me laugh. Good class though.

He gives great examples that help you remember and understand what he is talking about.

I am so glad that I took cognitive psychology with Dr. Holmes. He is an excellent teacher. Probably the best one that I had at BSC. He is very helpful and extremely smart. He tells the information so that it is clear though it is challenging. Take him!

I don't know what the person before me is on cuz he is a great professor! he is very understanding and willing to help out. hes funny too..i love when he draws pictures on the board. he gives great explanations for things.

Really fun guy in class, goes over things really well, but asks kind of unfair questions on tests-- very specific things that weren't really went over. Overall, a good class, and informative, but semi-difficult.

explains things clearly. gives good examples. 2 or 3 tests and then a final. as an average student i just took good notes, studied the notes, and aced his tests. that simple. i didnt even crack the book. he's funny in an odd kind of way. take him.

Great professor! The problem is not him, it's the class! He is always willing to give extra help or go over things again but the content of the class is hard! You'll love his sense of humor and examples.

Not a psych major, but had no difficulties with the man. Funny as hell and makes classes interesting. Not "easy" but then, what do you actually learn from that? Loved him, highly recommend taking him if you don't mind a little independent

He is a really nice guy and really funny, but, his tests can be difficult! Although, if you read the parts of the chapters that he lectures on, it helps.

It's seriously the material that's the problem, not him. Good guy, willing to help and explain things repeatedly, really nice. I ended up with a C+ and I'm pretty amazed with that, so I credit him.

He is strange and nice and funny and I think he is a hottie. He gives corny examples and I bust out laughting at least 3 times each class. He makes the material interesting and more clear than the crappy book ever can. Highly recomended! He kicks ass!

Great teacher. He grades papers kind of hard, but is very clear about what he wants. Funny guy. Would highly recommend the class to anyone. :)

He is the sweetest, nicest guy. Always makes me laugh during class and the only homework u get is papers - but extremely difficult ones!! and the tests are hard. the class is a good time, but u hafta be willing to work hard

i luv this guy, great teacher, his papers were kind of hard but he is very specific about how they should be, he cracks me up, and i think he is a hottie in his own dorky way, i recomend this class

This class was hard for me but I managed to pull off a B- after not doing well for most of the semester. He is a very nice guy and is very helpful! I highly reccomend him! He's also very funny!

he makes the information pretty clear. if you study hard you should do fine. do all of the homeworks. he is funny, too, but its a hard class.

Intro was easy. Stats was hard. He's very intelligent and funny...one of my favorite profs. The mullet is no more. RIP mullet.

good class, helpful teacher. goes kinda fast and uses powerpoint, but explains stuff well. he makes the stuff understandable and does a lot of examples on the board so you understand the material. recommended for this class.

Holmes is a decent teacher - tests are hard even when you study. I'd take him again even though his classes are tough. Although the mullet does distract me at times...

He is not an easy teacher. tests hard even with a lot of studying- but so is the material. No EC, no scaling. Just tests and a paper- follow the instructions for the paper and you will do well. Not sure if I will take again, need to maintain a good GPA!

I absolutely loved this class! Dr. Holmes is one of the best professors I have had! The class seemed intimidating at first, but he made it a great experience! He is always willing to help with anything, and he really cares. He knows his stuff, too! He gives you a whole new perspective at things, and he challenges, but in a good way. Take him!!

Holmes is great - Explains things very clearly - Does multiple examples w/the class so people understand. Helped me out in a situation when other professors wouldn't have. Study the notes he gives you, do the hmwk as u go and practice before tests. I'm taking him again next semester1

definitely take him for biopsych. go to the class, take the notes, study, and you will get a good grade. you have 7 tests, one about every 2 weeks so it's easier to keep up with the material. he'll answer any questions and makes the power points very clear

Dr. Holmes is brilliant. I loved his class. It was tough at first, but if you actually pay attention you'll do well and learn a lot from him. Definatly take his class.

He is a nice guy and all but talk about extremely hards tests, he makes you study everything, including entire quotes, then he doesn't put it in the test. Very vaque on what is on the test. it's up to you if you want to take him or not, nice guy but tough.

He is a great teacher! This class is very interesting and his Powerpoints are really nice. he makes them himself so they are interactive with movement so you really get the full effect. His tests weren't bad but you have to study. Don't buy the book because he will tell you to look at your notes before the book anyway. He is very helpful

I dreaded taking this class but he made it interesting. Attendance is a must. Take notes & study 1 hour minimum before each test & you'll do well! I'm glad I had him for this class but I wouldn't take him for stats bc the grade is based on tests only.

If i had taken stats for psych with any other teacher i feel like i would be lost. Prof. Holmes is the best teacher i have had at bsc. Cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Definetly take him!

Professor Holmes definitly knows what hes talking about! He really cares to make sure you understand the material and keeps lectures interesting with quirky jokes. His tests arnt too bad as long as you study and do the homework. Attendance is very important though. So much is covered in one class, if you miss a class you'll be completely lost.

One of my fav Professors at BSC! He knows what hes talking about and really a great teacher. Few homework assignments, few tests, no attendence policy but if you miss a class you'll be lost. Attend and you'll get an "A"

I was so nervous about taking this class and I honestly loved it! He explains everything so well and uses power points that are right to the point. There is a test after every chapter or two and the tests are exactly what is on the homework. Such an easy class I loved it, Deffinetly take him!!!

He is an awesome teacher. His power point slides are awesome and correspond directly with the homework. He gives you plenty of time to copy down the slides which is awesome. He is pretty funny too. DEF TAKE HIM FOR STATS.

He is quirky, but in a fun way. He was very clear on a hard subject such as statistics. He tends to make me laugh alot. His tests are simple if you know the material, they arn't clotted with extra words. If you know the material it will show despite the lack of wordiness. But I highly reccomend him to anyone taking Statistics especially.

He is very funny and material is interesting. Take a LOT of notes and study notes very well. Be prepared to pay attention in class the whole time. Hilarious guy.

I took him for stats and Im really glad I did. The course is not easy material but he makes it painless. As long as you pay attention in class and do the Homework's and study you can easily pass. He is good with question and makes class interesting. He does not take attendance but showing up is crucial because you cover a lot in class. Recommend!

Holmes is very clear with his instruction and moves at a nice slow pace so he is easy to follow along with. Makes statistics painless. Only gives 5 homework assignments right before exams to help prepare you. Great Class!!

I failed statistics the first time and retook it with Holmes. If you're bad at math, TAKE HIM. He puts you at ease, and the way he explains difficult concepts makes the class tolerable. Plus, he's hilarious! I scraped by with a C because I'm so bad, but if you work with him, he'll help!!

Attendance not mandatory but I missed one class and felt so lost. Tests are about everything covered in lecture and labeling diagrams of brain. Dry humor and makes material easy to understand. If you pay attention in class and review notes for the test you'll pass.

Very good professor. He cares about student learning. He is funny and relates statistics to real life situations which helps to learn. He gives really good feedback and isn't picky when he grades. Will take this professor again.

I took a stats class in high school and the teacher had no idea what he was doing. I did not learn a thing. Then I took Professor Holme's class and I learned so so much. I could have gotten an A but I did not study as much for the last test. Either way, great prof and helps everyone understand the material. Taught me so much, and answers any Q's.

jholmes is a fantastic person and professor but this class is HARD. he teaches the material in a good way and manages to keep a good attitude and make you laugh. tests are straight forward as long as you study
