took class in Fall 2004. easy class, but lecture could be boring. he gives you a lot of extra credits.
He's a nice teacher. Not hard at all, gives reasonable homework, not over bearing...he also gives extra credit. He makes himself available all the time and takes time to answer questions, very clear and on schedule.
easy teacher, very nice, give a lot of extra credit. give very reasonable homework.
You want to LEARN MATH and GET AN A. TAKE HIM. He is an easy teacher, too. If you can catch up with others, meet him at his office, he will explain everything for you. HIGHTLY RECOMMEND.
This teacher is really nice. He give less homework than other professors that my friends had. Plus, extra credits! His quizes are more difficult than his tests cuz he makes it more challenging but still it's easy.
Great Teacher, I hated the idea of taking pre cal and Calc, but with him, its so easy. Gives just enough hw so u understand the problems, quiz & test probs are exactly from hw (make sure you do your hw!) Also gives extra credit. U can't go wrong with him
not very clear, does give extra credit, but you gotta learn the class pretty much on ur own
he gives a lot of extra credits but he makes sure that you understand before he moves on to next chapter.

moves a little too fast

moves way too fast. BARELY any extra credit. constant quizzes and exams. the final is comprehensive. can't understand him sometimes due to the accent, plus he makes a lot of mistakes in front of class. we are always like "what is he doing?"
mr. kim is a nice guy. tons of extra credit and he is willing to help his students anytime--if you can find him. wording on test threw me off here and there, but i recommend him.
Prof. Kim is a great math teacher, and is the only reason i passed this class. Math and me do not get along, but he helped me through it. HE WANTS HIS STUDENTS TO PASS AND HELPS YOU IN ANY WAY HE CAN - BY GIVING LOTS OF EXTRA CREDIT. This is esp. helpful if you don't do well on an exam. He doesn't teach too fast, that's just math.
His class is really easy as long as you know how to READ and attend the tutor classes. This is only because he isn't very clear on his teachings. He doesn't really explain himself and doesnt finish his sentences. He always ends with "um, yeah, so.. in this chapter.." If a student debates with him and he cant win, he starts to "ummm" a lot. :)
One of good math instructors. Highly recommended... He doesnt go so fast, and gives you a lot of extra credits.......
prof kim is awesome. yea he has a little accent but in aint that bad. mr kim is the best teacher ever. hes always willing to give help even when he doesnt have office hours. if you try its almost impossible to fail. the extra credit also helps(will make a middle B to an A). if you dont take mr kim your a fool.

Kim gives you an opportunity to pass with a better grade. Warning, do all of the homework because sometimes his homework problems don't cover some problems on the test.
great teacher is eager to help, but sometimes doesn't work out the probolem all the way assuming you should know how to. great patience during ofice hours. test covers material teached. Attendance can harm you. doesn't want anyone to fail. extra credit was great help.
GREAT TEACHER IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS WITH TRIG!
great teacher if you dont need to do alot of homework if you need to do the home work to leran it you have to do it youself he will give lots of EC so take it and study the final is hard
This was a challenging class (at least for me)Kim is a good instructor and will answer questions if you ask. Doing homework problems and attending SI really helped
He teaches at a VERY fast pace! He doesn't allow any note cards AT ALL. He won't answer any question that he went over in lecture, even if we are reviewing.
Mr. Kim is a nice guy. He gives ton's of extra credit and gives points on test problems even when you get it wrong. Just show some work. The part some people have trouble is he only lectures using examples from the book. I didn't pay to much attention to the lectures but concentrated on learning from the book. I worked out well because I got an A

-Lots of extra credit. Grading is not really fair. Many people who were failing magically ended up wit C's. Hmmm
Very hard course. 4 exams, 1 final, 4 quizes, and homework! Mr Kim wasn't always clear with the material however he tried his best. Easy "B" if you do every single thing to your best ability. Though getting an "A" is extremely hard, you'll probably be brain dead by the end of the semester. Seth Ty the S.I. instructor helped a lot too.
calculus for business. His lecture is not clear somehow, but he alwasy willing to answer questions. Give a lot extra credit, many points for homeworks and in class assigments. The quizz and exam come from homework and textbook. This class is ok if u spend time doing homeworks and reading book. The final is too long to finish (11 pages)
okay teacher. didn't really pay attention. kept falling asleep. still got an A. tests are quite easy. just remember to study the questions that people got wrong on the quizzes. hmwk=easypeasy. i really recommend this class. if you need help he's always in his office. knows a lot about college too.
good luck trying to understand his voice. this teacher is one of those teacher who really doesn't care about how hard your working. started with almost 50 students, ended with 10-12 during a fall semester. you do the math. just check out his website & you'll see the horrifying grades posted, ridiculous.
This guy is missing the one of the two mandatory components of being a good teacher; being able to explain the subject matter in a way that non-experts can understand. In addition, he seems to be bothered when required to do any actual teaching. He would much rather have all his students teach themselves from the book and he just tests them on it.
I thought he was kind of hard. I dropped him after the first test, the test was pretty difficult. He gave questions that he barely went over, it's possible to pass but I wouldn't recommend him.
This time around it was actually fun. He's a great teacher
He's an okay teacher the subject is hard though. I mangaged to get an A! Going to SI was very, very helpful if thats available next semester take advantage of it and it will pay off. His tests are based on hw problems and quizes so make sure you know how to do those (he usually places the hardest problems on the test. Read, do hw and study, study!!
He is quite a fair professor. He gives plenty of extra credit, assigns relevant problems, explains well. The thing about math is that the more you practice, the better you will do. The reason I got an "A" in the class was because I did all the homework, attended every lecture, and spent a good amount of time reviewing. It's all up to you. :-)
His lectures are a bit helpful, but I literally learned from the book more than from him. He's a fair professor though; even if you get the wrong answers on the test, he gives you some points for actually attempting to answer it. He gives plenty of extra credit. He's okay, I wouldn't recommend him though, unless you like learning on your own.
You're totally on your own with this guy.
Yikes. I love math, and have A's in all of my other college math courses. This professor doesn't know how to explain the material to students AT ALL. Please avoid him at all costs.
Kim is one of the worst professors I've had. I ended up dropping his class. He wasn't able to make physics understandable for non-experts. On top of that, he would leave in the middle of our lab to teach at CSULA and his assistant would do a better job explaining the lab procedures. I took the class again at a university and got an A.
Kim is the worst in the Physics department and LBCC's Physics is horrible. The professors can't teach physics because they approach it as if it were math they're teaching. When we asked him to solve problems on the board, he seemed bothered and didn't solve them all the way through as he struggled to get the answer.
Kim is not easy, be prepared to teach yourself the subject. However, it is not impossible to get an A. His exams/quizzes come straight from the homework, do them, review them and rereview them again. the only way i was able to get an A was by redoing the homework problems over and over again. I recommend this teacher over Mercado..you'll see why..
Kim is a great professor. The subject is not easy but he has a great way of teaching it. He worked with me in class and during office hours so that i could understand the material better. you have to work hard for a good grade, but an A in his class will prove to pay dividends throughout your college career.
He spends the first 10 minutes of class taking role, the next 30 going over homework (even though he only covers half the prob.)then spends the last 15 minutes trying to speed through lecturing about 2- 3 sections at once. He covers the basic concept and assumes you will understand the difficult concepts that follows in the homework.
He is a nice man but as far as teaching goes, you are on your own. He does one maybe 2 basic examples from each section and then leaves the hard stuff for you to figure out on the homework and exams. As long as he knows how to do the work, he assumes all his students to too. Take someone else if you can.
if u prefer learning from the book then take his class....My class started of with over 40 students it went down to 10 students in 3 weeks before the final
Nice demeanor, sometimes threatening and doesn't seem to care. Quiz/exam Q's from the text, but the hardest among the lot. Know it, or you won't have time to complete. More extra credit toward the end but half the class had already dropped. You'll need to teach yourself & give tons of time. I found him to be a strong argument against tenure.
He's usually late, spends 10 minutes of class taking roll, the next 30 going over homework (even though he only covers half the prob.) then spends the last 15 minutes trying to speed through lecturing 2-3 sections at once. He covers the basic concepts and assumes you will understand the rest. TAKE SOMEONE ELSE IF YOU CAN!
Most of students don't like him and think he is strict. I would say he is a really great prof! his test is not that hard. If you study, you will get an A. Also, he is easy at grading. I highly recommend him! I end up with a high A in his class.
He is a really great teacher!!! He gives out alot of extra credit in my opinion and his test can be very difficult but the KEY is always STUDYING. Homework can be a hassel but hey, this is not high school anymore.
Prepare to teach yourself with the textbook. He all over the place and assumes everyone understands what he's doing without explaining each step. I would take his class again though. The tests and quizzes are not too hard if you study, he gives extra credit frequently, and he'll give you points on each question on the tests/quizzes just for trying.
1 of the hardest classes ever but math is a tough subject ether way! I recommend u to read the book b4 the lecture. He doesn't explain very well but if u kind of get it then its easier. He offers EC & partial credit for trying so don't leave anything blank! If u ask for help he will help. I honestly have spend most of my time at the math center.
Pretty cool teacher. He goes over the chapter fairly fast, just go over the chapter a second time around. He gives partial credit on tests and gives extra credit opportunities. Just do the homework & study, you should be fine.
he is a very good teacher and will answer all your questions! plus he's kind of funny
If math isn't your strength DO NOT take him! His lectures are all over the place and he assumes people know lots beforehand. He also seemed annoyed with a student who always asked questions. He hates having to explain things over again. Get ready to teach yourself. Honestly this has been the WORST math professor I've ever had.
Moodle AND syllabus was outdated. Strange homework policy, assumes you JUST took math 130 so he Lecures fast and makes shortcuts without writing them out or rly elaborating for the ENTIRE class and not just a few. rly easy to get lost unless you can write math super fast and keep your eyes and ears on the board.
He does not explain his steps clearly. He goes right into the lecture and expects everyone to know what they are doing. At times, he gets annoyed when kids ask questions. He will reply and say, "See me after class." That doesn't help because someone else might have the same question. He skips around on each example and moves extremely fast.
Absolutely one of the worst professors I've ever had. No help. Disorganized. AVOID. You have been warned.
I've taken a lot of math classes with many different professors. His teaching style is straight to the point. Lectures are short. He gives you a simple example and expects you to use prior knowledge to figure out the rest. He won't hold your hand. It's not high school.
I was out of school for a year and I wanted to relearn everything I needed to progress in math and retake the placement test . I ended up passing with a B, easy, almost got an A, but didn't give enough effort. And tested into MATH 60. He will answer any questions you have, don't feel shy to ask. Turn in homework on time and you will be fine.
Clear and to the point. He also teaches math 110 so he understands where you are coming from if you struggle with math. Lectures cover all of the types of problems that are covered in the test. I appreciated his straight forward teaching style. Also as long as you show your work you are getting points
He's not the best professor but if you aren't lazy then you'll be fine. Otherwise don't take him.
He's okay. He's extremely smart, but English isn't his first language. He likes to teach the meat and potatoes of material and moves at a decent pace. Tons of partial credit, and extra credit. Oh, and he'll suggest you drop by the 2nd test if you don't have at least a 65% overall. Don't go see him? He'll assume you don't care and will drop you.
He is a laid back professor with a cool accent. I took him during a winter course so i had to basically teach myself. But he does answer questions somewhat clearly. He takes questions out of the homework to make up the test, so do the homework. LOTS OF EXTRA CREDIT!
speedy class only an hour of class time! preparefrom day 1! Do all hw,in class, extra credit always ! take advantage of the math center. read the sections ahead bc class time is overview does not teach thoroughly! the test are few questions but weighted heavily harder problems are more pts. all test are cummlative don't fall behind, miss God Speed
He really jumps when hes writing notes on the projector. he starts writing and then at half a page would come back up to the top and add something so it is really confusing if you like to look back at notes. He hasIn Class assignments but we usually always do them for homework. Questions on test are by far much more complicated then HW n studyguide
HAVE TO STUDY BY YOURSELF. HE DOESN'T EXPLAIN THINGS CLEARLY.
Not an easy class, but thats expected at this level. Prepare to spend lots of time doing hw. Quizzes reflect hw and tests are considerably more challenging than the quizzes. You MUST know the concepts of topics, DO NOT just focus on the arithmetic b/c you WILL fail. Also, prof. will assume you have considerable knowledge of prior courses.
This professor is the WORST professor Ive had. He grades based on his mood. He is bad at lectures and loves to talk on and on about his academic success. What the other comments say are true. In this class youll have to teach yourself everything from day 1 because his lectures are fast and unhelpful and he is very minimalistic in office hours.
There is a lot of tests and quizzes as well as homework. 50% homework is on MyMathLab and other from book. Very considerate grader. If you get an answer wrong but show work, is automatic 60% for answer. Tests and quizzes are extremely easy. Lectures are extremely difficult. Does a terrible job at fully informing problems to students.
Professor kim is a smart guy, so he doesn't take into consideration that this is the first time students have taken business calculous. He does give extra credit and partial credit on test which is nice. But, some problems I had with him was he was unorganized in his notes and didn't explain what we are learning well, and you felt stupid for asking
Professor Kim is a nice person, but you do end up teaching yourself most of the material in this class. There is a lot of work piled on and the directions (especially with the lab portion, which appears to be someone's hastily assembled sabbatical "project" are unclear. Covering a large amount of advanced material should include clear directions.
Professor Kim is a kind professor. Sure, hes not the best lecuturer but you should be committed to putting in the work for this class. If you do, its an easy A (if thats all you care about). Also, he gives you more than enough opportunities to earn extra credit, again, if you arent lazy. Moral is, dont whine or slack off and work hard!
I had no idea what I was doing but every time I took a quiz or exam I tried. I could do some work but never get the final answer! On the exams, I would normally get 2 problems completely right out of 10 questions worth 10 pts each. Pay attention to my math lab problems and examples because they show up on the tests (sometimes the exact ones)
I would say that if you are an intuitive student who doesn't need guidance to retain the information, you will do great in this class. However, if you are looking for a professor to present complex ideas in simpler ways, find different one. I pretty much had to teach myself the information. I know the class was struggling with the material as well.
To pass Professor Kim's class is simple, do all the homework, extra credit, in-class work and do every test. I took him for pre-calc, Calc 1 and will be taking him for Calc 2. Review the questions from the homework review. get good at doing those questions because they might appear on the test/quiz.
Overall he is very lenient. He gives you full credit for HW even if it is wrong. Quizzes prepare you for the Exams. Homework+quizzes study guide for exams. He gives you partial credit on any problem on the exam or quiz. However, hands down he is the worst professor in terms of teaching. You will have to learn. If you are good at math take him.
Prof. Kim is one of the nice teacher I have ever met in LBCC. Even though his teaching method is not a cup of tea to many students. He is kind, respected and generous if you require him to do extra lecturing. if you are already a math major, don't hesitate taking his class. Book and homework are mandatory if you wanna pass this class. It's math.
Professor Kim is a nice professor with a good sense of humor; however, I would not recommend taking him due to his inability to explain mathematical concepts well. Quizzes and exams aren't too bad. The questions are typically from the hw.
I don't even know how to explain this professor. Really difficult class, you know you're getting things wrong on the test, but he grades way too nicely. Lectures are difficult and don't make sense, but homework gets graded full credit for just turning it in. So, this is a hard class, but the grading on hw and tests makes it unsettlingly easy.
To pass this class you definitely need to do all the homework, extra-credit, and ALL exams. Due to COVID, the class switched to online. His notes can be messy, disorganized and he goes fast but his exams resemble the study guide and some questions repeat on finals. He drops the lowest quiz and the lowest exam is replaced with the Mid-term score.
I am terrible at Math I just want to start there. This teacher always gives full marks for H.W and E.C. You have to work extremely hard in this class to receive an A if you are in my position. All exams are supervised via Zoom and must be present for all online lectures (YES HE TAKES ROLL). Not a good teacher but gives out awesome guides for exams.
I liked professor Kim he is a very nice guy. The only thing that I didn't really like was how fast he went through each unit and he wasn't very clear most of the time. When you asked to clarify I feel like I was more confused, but that just might be me. Another thing I didn't like was his notes. Has very hard to read handwriting. Overall chill guy.
Prof Jong is not a good professor. He does not explain math concepts well, and asking questions will only leave you more confused. His writing is basically unintelligible. He is very unclear about what you're supposed to do. To make matters worse, he takes attendance religiously. Just find someone else, I'm sure anyone is better.
worst professor ever, don't take him if you want to learn.
Absolutely the worst professor I have ever taken. His lectures do not teach anything and are full of mistakes. Instead of going over the concepts of what he is teaching and explaining what is going on, he just does examples out of the books. This is Calculus, you need to have good understanding of the concept to do the examples. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
Professor Kim is not very good at explaining during lectures. He expected students to finish homework before he even explain the concept. I believe he would be a better teacher in person, but through zoom his class is very messy and it's hard to understand his writing. My advice would be to take another professor and if you stay do all the homework
If math is difficult for you I don't recommend you to take is class.
Not very good at teaching and his notes don't make sense.
I took him for preclalc. He may be a better teacher in person, but the tests hit you HARD. The textbook we used was horrible and the lectures were quick and there wasn't much class engagement if that makes sense. You had to work super hard for a grade, and yes I did cry before the final. It was that bad. If you like learning on your own, go ahead.
Perhaps I am biased because I did well in this course, but I believe Professor Kim is a good teacher. The assigned textbook is very difficult to follow so his lectures were my primary source of leraning. Professor was understanding and accomodating when my wife and I had a baby in the beginning of May. My one suggestion- DO ALL OF THE EXTRA CREDIT!
One of the worst math professors at LBCC. his online class is completely disorganized. He doesn't like it when students ask questions. His hand covers the notes 90% of the time and his writing is not very legible. He has a crazy amount of homework and it's very difficult to find. For the love of god find another math professor. this is your warning
He is the worst professor Ive ever had.. I cant even fathom how someone could teach so terribly and still have a job teaching. You must be extremely good at teaching yourself to pass this class because he is no help. Hes extremely disorganized and he teaches as if we have background knowledge on the subject.
Well, I've said it every semester at LBCC. "there's no way this math teacher can be as bad as the last one." I think I hit the culmination of terrible teachers with this one. Homework is insanely long, like 50 page homework packet long. His lectures are a joke where all he does is blow through examples with no real teaching going on. Skip this guy!
You teach yourself with not enough time. The examples he uses are awful as he makes too many typos and can't get the solution sometimes, then expects you to solve it correctly when he teaches us poorly. Below-average professor, kind person. He may make you easily upset that he doesn't teach well, but we all make mistakes.
If you wanna spend one month of your summer doing homework for one summer course this is the perfect class for you. His homework load is actually INSANE, and this is not an understatement. If you hate hw, you will hate this class. He is also pretty bad at teaching so get ready to have to learn the content by yourself. Thankfully this was online.
Gives out way to much HW (15-20 pages a week) and exams (6 exams in 6 weeks that range from 1.5 - 2.5 hours each). He spends so much time in lectures explaining what he plans to cover instead of actually just teaching so be prepared to self-learn his rushed teachings. Does give good extra credit and many exam questions are HW questions. No curve :(
Professor Kim is one of the hardest teachers I have ever had. He doesn't explain everything good and rushes through everything from lectures. Didn't have much options to choose from for the Fall 2022 semester, so it was my only option. Don't recommend at all.
Toughest math teacher ever! I have taken his calculus course and everyday was a nightmare. You have to do all the homework to pass the class with at least a C. good luck to anyone taking him
GOOD LUCK, be ready to basically learn on your own. Very lecture-heavy, but they are bad lectures, find lectures on YouTube. LEARN THE UNIT CIRCLE PLS. you can not miss a single class. Especially an exam doesn't matter what the situation is you can't make up the exam you have to be there. Time-consuming, so just be ready to learn on your own.
First, I watched his clear lectures online. It allowed me to clear my mind and take notes. Second, Professor Kim Jong's materials were for others and me. So, he fixed problems. Also, he will allow students to study the lectures on Canvas. Last, Kim allowed students to ask questions. For example, the questions prepared me to learn from my mistakes.
Professor enforces strict attendance policies, but often arrives late to class. Lectures are tedious and often incorrect. HEAVY workload with lots of homework. Exams are long with class only able to do half. Quizzes are just random problems from exam. Extra credit offered, but difficult to complete with the workload. BTW, no makeup! DO NOT TAKE!!!
Writes on a tiny notepad and barely covers the lesson. He gives a lot of homework expecting you to know the subject. Attendance is mandatory but comes late. Would not take it again.
The good: Professor Kim is nice and will go out of his way to answer any questions that you have. The bad: tons of homework (100 plus problems a week), 6 exams for summer courses and 90 min to complete 15 multi part questions, includes quizzes and exams on the same assignment making it very difficult to finish math of the questions on time.
I ignored the couple of people who told me to avoid his class at all costs. Usually people exaggerate, but this was no far stretch. Hw is really 40 plus pages, due every exam (there are 6), including a study guide compiled of more review and a quiz. The amount of work is insane and impossible to do considering i cant even decipher his lectures.
extremely terrible at breaking things down and examining. He's a cool guy, just a terrible professor.
Took Prof Kim during last winter semester. Calc 3 is hard no matter what Prof you get. At this stage you must be able to teach yourself what you didn't understand from lecture. Prof Kim has lots of experience and knowledge so he will answer any question. Just study hard and you'll pass
He takes an hour to take roll and quickly goes over the material. "One time a student told me..." is his catchphrase. You gotta show up, but you don't gotta stay. Pro tip: hit up the pantry on breaks. You can just chill and do hw while he looks up the answers to the questions. Don't be fooled by his appearance he is very intelligent. GOAT
Attendance is mandatory, he goes over the homework in the lectures and even tells you which questions you need to study for the exams. Definitely makes things very easy to understand, would def recommend taking Professor Kim for math 60.
He is not that bad to be honestly. His lecture are just him going over the homework, class work, and study guides for the exam. The study guides pretty much match the exams so if you do them and know the steps you'll pass. Also has extra credit. Take his class in-person, online will be way more work. Overall I would recommend.
The only way that I was able to get an A was the insane hours I put in outside of class learning these concepts. The lectures would take the full 3-4 hours, only (and only) doing examples that he did not plan and would never explaining how these concepts worked. Please don't make my mistake and find another class, because it's not an easy A.
Professor Kim really wants his students to succeed. He gives ample opportunities to raise your grade and is overly fair. I recommend him 100%.
Absolutely the worst professor I have ever had. Get ready to teach urself. Textbook pdf free w/class I highly suggest looking up authors YouTube videos. His lectures are hard to understand writing is very sloppy and sometimes illegible. Lots of work, quizzes are part of the test, and grading is weird but it might work to ur advantage. Good luck.
This guy have no clue how to teach. He comes into class late. His notes are all over the place and jumps from one idea to the next rapidly. He's difficult to understand with his broken english. The grading criteria is unclear. I wish I would have listened to the other ratings before joining this class. Avoid him at ALL COSTS!!!!
The lectures are impossible to follow & keep up with as he quickly flies around over messy, pre-written notes. He uses a camera, zoomed-in on hand-written notes on line-paper. You will not learn the material during the lecture. I had to teach myself from the textbook just to get through the homework, and the homework burden was extraordinary.
If you're interested in paying for a proctor and willing to teach yourself the entire course then he is your guy. He is hard to understand and assumes everyone coming into the class has a complete grasp on the concepts involved within Calc3. He comes in late to class and wastes an hour taking attendance without fail. Nice guy, TERRIBLE teacher!
Took him online for precalc and calc 3. Exams are essentially open note. His teaching style can be extremely hard to follow. Gives a ton of homework, but doing it + the study guides will prepare you for tests. Replaces 2 exams with midterm score and final score. Decent amount of extra credit. Basically a self study course with lenient grading.
Lectures are all over the place and very hard to follow, so I recommend reading the textbook instead and doing the example problems instead. Don't listen to his lectures because they'll just confuse you. Be sure to do all of your HW too! He's also really lax on grading. Lets you do "exam edits" to makeup 10 points on exams, which does help ur grade
I usually wait until the end of the semester to leave a review, but it's safe to say this professor should be avoided. Self-teaching is a must if you wish to succeed in his class. He is a nice guy, but he's just not a good professor. He takes half the class time to take attendance and ramble aimlessly, then flies through messy, prewritten notes.
Yeah just don't take Calculus with this dude. Great guy and everything, just be prepared to be lost in every aspect of his teaching. His notes are pre-written and all over the place. You will be teaching yourself the material and going to mandatory lectures is a waste of time.
I advise you choose another professor or wait until next semester to get a different professor. This guy can't teach, he expects the class to read his brain. Lectures are non existent, needs to be corrected frequently, and it is very hard to follow along.
If you want to be teaching yourself the whole semester, this guy is perfect for you. If you want to learn off of sloppy pre written notes, this is guy is for you. If you want to be in a class full of students that are just as lost as you, this guy is for you. Great guy but oh my God how he can't teach. Every single review on here is true.Stay away
If you have been getting bad reviews for over 10+ years, you are the problem. I genuinely believe the only reason professor Kim has a job is because of his tenure. Jong Kim does not teach, he goes over prewritten notes that are NOT legible. There are no lectures, just prewritten examples. Homework load is insane.
The assignment instructions were unclear and lectures weren't useful for the homework. I went through the class until the midterms, online zoom class.
If you are taking this professor for anything, you're COOKED. Lectures are mandatory, and the notes are literally from his previous class, so mind reading is a must. You try to keep up, only to get deep fried with the heavy homework he gives. if you need to take it, just be prepared to teach your self he gives EC but its not enough GOOD LUCK
His lectures were confusing at most times, a lot of rambling and flipping through prewritten notes which were also sloppy. You're gonna have to teach yourself most of the material however, his study guides were very helpful/almost identical to his quizzes/exams. Super lenient grader and gave lots of extra credit opportunities so take them!
By the grace of God i finished with a B. Extra credit will absolutely save you. However, you will be on your own the entire time. If you wanna be miserable throughout the entirety of this class, go for it. I recommend you not choose this class if you want your sanity intact. If you absolutely have to take this class I suggest anyone else.
Jong Kim knows what he's talking about. Has a passion for AI and has the clearest notes on earth.
Very Helpful professor, he wants his students to learn the material and pass the class.
honestly worst teacher i've ever had. i took his intro to stats class--very unorganized and you need to teach yourself. he even said that he isn't there to teach, that it's "tutoring's job to teach." he will not teach you anything! DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!
Horrible teacher, entitled and you need to buy $120 online forum in order to actually do his class
Can't teach, but exams are straightforward. Since his exams are not that bad, just review youtube videos and get an easy A.
